random thoughts about strong girl nam soon, episode five (pt 2)

(read more because i always get carried away lol and this post might contain spoilers)

We got the replica of the ahn min hyuk squealing and kicking his feet like a school girl but this time it's nam soon. I find it endearing because it's like seeing a little child falling in love for the first time. She has this genuine look of joy and excitement in her eyes.

The actress playing Ri hwa ja being so good at her job she should get paid even more. I want her to face the consequences of her actions.

Interesting how everyone in the family wants ri hwa ja to pay for her crimes but hwang geum ju is the only one defending her because she believes hwa ja was desperate for a mom. She saw it in nam soon's imposter's eyes. I wonder if it was an act or if she really wanted to have someone to rely on instead of using all means to earn money. Hwa ja does seem desperate for money. I don't remember if it was said or not but she does come from a poor (in terms of money) background so she must have hustled her whole life to get to where she is.

Also the reason she hates nam soon is because she was on the verge of earning A LOT of money and, in the blink of an eye, the money disappeared. Even though i despise her for wanting to kill an innocent woman, I do understand the struggles of not having a lot of money to live a comfortable life. If she got the money before the real nam soon reuniting with her mom, i think she would have lived her life by herself and left like that.

With that said, it doesn't mean ri hwa ja isn't a bad person because she used manipulation and lies to get to where she is. The most horrible part is her manipulating hwang geum ju by giving her the illusion she finally reunited with her daughter after 20 years of being apart. I don't know I'm very torn on her. She's a bad person, let's all agree on that. But i do believe her financial situation plays a big part on why she's behaving that way.

I've said in a previous episode how hwang geum ju seemed to be empathetic because she wanted her daughter back and i was wondering if she'll continue to have empathy for others after she found nam soon. Well, this scene gave me the answer. She's understanding. She knows not everyone is born with a lot of money and she wants to help others as much as she can. She's even extending her hand to ri hwa ja, even though the latter played with her feelings and lied to her. Hwang geum ju's motto is shown in this scene: make the world a better place.

Bread song making poses by the window = cringe but also hilarious. Gives him the image of a newbie ceo, not really knowing how to act with his new acquired wealth. I was wrong, he's just a freak and it's making as uncomfortable as hwang geum ju is right now.

Nice to see some more info on hwa ja's background. An orphan and a gang leader training orphans to do dirty job for him. She's the only woman in the group. That means she's strong and talented at what she does. But it does explain a lot of things and I can understand her better.

The grandma is hilarious in her quest to get her future boyfriend. I just can't get enough of her.

The plot thickens and someone is giving nam in the dr*g without him knowing. It's disguised as a weight loss pill. I hope he doesn't use it but shows it to nam soon or hee sik so they can move quicker on the case.

I see the dr*g gives strength to those who took it but then they d1e right away, which begs the question: what is different about ryu si o that makes him survive when all the other people who took the dr*g d1ed a few days/weeks after?

Interestingly enough nam soon's first thought when meeting the villain (she doesn't know it's him) is to ask him if he's sick. She is worried about him. She really is a good person.

She needs to talk about this to hee sik, tell him how she found someone with superhuman strength just like her.

I see the dr*g doesn't have the same effect on everyone. Some take longer to d1e. The only side effect is the excessive consumption of water. The chief of the diu team is taking a lot longer than the other victims to d1e. Maybe he'll be the one to survive until the end and a guinea pig (ie they'll experiment on him) to find an antidote?

Ooohooo the plot thickens! Nam soon is finally face to face with her impostor. But i don't think she's seen her face so i don't think she'll recognize her.

So happy to see hee sik back on the case.

The next episode seems promising.

I'll give this episode a 10/10 because it gave us a little bit of everything without revealing too much so us spectators want to tune in for the next episode.

Exotic foreign currency banknotes dealer Egan Store (aka: “Egan Shop”) has announced that effective immediately, purchases of any and all core products will not be eligible for a certificate of authenticity to be included with the order for no additional charge.

Egan Store co-founder and proprietor Peter Egan Jr. observed that his business’ best-selling products were those which advertised a certificate of authenticity in the main listing photo, like the dinar dealer’s listing for a quarter-million Iraqi dinar in the form of ten uncirculated 25,000 IQD banknotes. While Egan Store has included a CoA by default for sales of the listing linked to in the previous sentence for the entirety of the company’s existence, it only recently began making certificates available for no additional charge for all of the company’s most popular product lines and listings.

The move came in the wake of a two week period during which the number of buyers requesting certificates for orders of Vietnamese Dong, Indonesian Rupiah, Venezuelan Bolivar and 2008 Zimbabwe dollar, particularly the trillion-dollar denominations in the case of the latter.

Said CEO Peter Egan Jr. of the move, “We inspect every note valued at more than a few dollars under UV lighting among other methods of establishing authenticity anyway, and inspect a random sampling of notes from each purchase that we make before we make them available to our customers. We take our responsibility to be bona fide experts in these respective currencies very seriously, and certificate or no certificate, our longstanding policy has always been that if any note we sell is determined to be fake, we will replace it or issue a full refund to the buyer who purchased it. The CoA is really just here for new customers’ peace of mind. Not that we’ve ever sold a counterfeit note, although we have purchased a few over the years. While I won’t spoil the surprise with that particular collection, suffice it to say I’m very excited about it, and I would encourage everyone to check back with us in a week or so, by which time the category should be live.”

It was different than Gotham. There weren't constant gunshots. And that was weird. But. He knew better than to think his PI license wouldn't make him some money. Even out in the sticks. There was always a contentious divorce. There was always something not quite right. Cops in over their heads.

And he'd have down time. He could read. Work on his bike. Fuck. Maybe even actually go see a movie... Sure. He knew eventually he'd get bored but. For now, he was looking forward to it.

He shut the door and locked it behind him, frowning just slightly and making a note to get a better lock while he was out. He doubted he could find anything super great in town- he'd probably have to order something but. He'd passed a hardware store in town so... it might be worth checking out. If he made friends with the old guy that probably ran it he could probably get some special orders if he needed it.

So he set off that direction, wandering on foot down the sidewalks and taking note of the other houses. It was the middle of the afternoon. And the lunch whistles at the old factory still sounded at nood and then 30 minutes later. Tucked away from the tree-lined main drag, the houses back here varied from run down to better homes and gardens.

That tracked.

They got better closer to the front. The older show homes outweighed the eyesores. American primitive lawn decor. A surprising number of pineapples- and he snorted, wondering if it had come from a big box store or if it was a signal. Or both.

Still.

By the time he made it to the hardware store, he was reasonably certain he could stay busy. All was not as Leave it to Beaver as the Town Council would have you believe. And the first place he was gonna leave a flyer was in the beauty shop. Those old biddies HAD to have some shit to stir up.

He shouldered the door open and a bell, an actual bell, chimed. And he smiled a little taking a deep breath. The smell of dust, tools, and old well-maintained wood hit his nose and he exhaled. Definitely not going to find any high tech locks here. But, he had a soft spot for independent shops.

"Be with you in a minute!"

The voice made him jump. Not the gruff voice of a grumpy old fuck he expected. And it made him search of the source. Curious. "No worries," he said, walking a little farther towards where he'd heard it. Finding a young woman on a ladder stocking some boxes of bolts on a shelf. A pink canvas gardening apron tied around her hips to hold more boxes. "You got door locks?" he asked.

"Aisle 5 next to the paver catalogs," you tell him, steadying yourself so you can turn and glance down at him.

"Perfect," he said, "Thanks."

"Mhm, let me know if you need anything else," you tell him.

Jason paused and looked around, "Think you can put a tool box together for me I just moved and-"

"Ah, yeah. One Bachelor special," you tell him," Jumping down from the ladder, "I think I can get you fixed up. At least enough to get you started. You'll be smashing your thumbs in no time."

"Got a first aid kit too?"

"Right up at the counter," you snort. "But if you want anything special, you gotta see Adam at the Pharmacy. Mine are pretty basic."

"I can deal with basic- at least until you sell me a band saw-"

"Oh lord."

Small summary : It was around 7:30 pm when you started to make dinner you knew that Ryu shi oh wouldn’t be home until 8:30 pm as he did even night if he would take longer he always let you know .. but what if he didn’t call ..and it’s now 10:00 at night

It was around 2:00 in the afternoon as you were sitting in the doctors office waiting for the doctor to come back in the room with whatever results that had to give you as you prayed in your head that it wasn’t anything serious

It’s been a few weeks since you started to feel sick and you weren’t the type to get sick so easily yet here you were in the doctors office since every morning you would vomit for up to 5 minutes even if you didn’t eat anything the night before

You would wake up some times with a throbbing headache not able to get out of bed from the pain as you would just cry yourself to sleep trying to ignore the pain in your head

Soon after you couldn’t eat things you would normally eat , if you ate your favorite foods or snacks you would have the urge to throw up or the smell would cause you to vomit after a while you couldn’t take it anymore which resulted in you being here

Letting out a sigh as your eyes scan around the huge office as the room was silent causing you to become a bit more nervous then you already were after a hour of waiting you hear the door open as your head looks in the direction of the door as you see the doctor enter the room a soft smile on her face as she walks further into the room the door closing slowly behind her

“Hi , reader how you feeling” Doctor Lee asks as she give you a caring smile giving you a glance before looking back at her clipboard in her hands

“Fine..” reader says nervously as your eyes never leave the doctors figure as she stands in front of you a few feet away as she writes something down

“That’s good , so you seem to be completely healthy nothing to worry about but we also have some thing else we wanted to talk to you about” Doctor Lee says as she stops writing on her clipboard as she looks at you with a smile

“Is there something else ?..” reader asks as Doctor Lee nods her head up and down the same soft smile on her face as she continues to look at you

“What is it..” reader says softly as your now waiting for what she was going to stay as your brows furrowed

“So all test came back great but .. the pregnancy test came back positive, your pregnant we don’t know how far along yet so we need the make you a follow up appointment” Doctor Lee says to you as she give you a smile

After setting up your follow up appointment with Doctor Lee giving her a quick good bye once your appointment was over as you head out of the office towards the front desk as Doctor Lee informs them about your appointment taking down your information before you quickly head out of the building

Getting inside the car as the driver held your door open as you held a small smile on your face making sure to have the driver stop at a new by store as you wanted to get a gift for Ryu shi oh and let him know the good news

After purchasing the gift and a gift bag to put it in you then head for Ryu Shi oh which you knew he would be at would in his office luckily for you it was only a few block from the store you came out of

Once you arrived at the building (forgot the name of it) grabbing the gift as you head inside the building fretting the workers as you pass by as you give most a warm smile since most faces looked knew as you head towards the elevator pressing the open button waiting for the elevator to open as you step inside the elevator quickly pressing the top floor button

Since Ryu shi oh’s office was on the top floor of the building no one that he didn’t give permission or wasn’t some one he had a least a bit of trust in wasn’t allowed on the top floor

Stepping out of the elevator as you held a huge smile on your face holding the gift bag in both hands as you walk down the long hallway as the sound of your heels echo through out the empty halls

As you got closer to the office doors you heard a giggle tighten your hold on the bag as you start to feel a bit nervous as thoughts start to run through your mind

Stopping in front of the door as you notice that one of the doors was left cracked a bit , taking a deep breath as you quietly poke your head in the room but not to much so you wouldn’t be noticed

Eyes slightly widening as you notice a women in the room with Ryu Shi Oh as you breathing becomes a bit heavy .. she was leaning super close to him as she sat on his desk but that wasn’t the thing that caught your eye .. it was the way he was smiling at her the same smile he only ever showed you

Feeling a tap on your shoulder as you jump a bit turning to see his guard as he stood over you looking down at you without saying a word quickly giving him the gift as you tell him to give it to Shi oh before walking down the hall

Letting out a sigh as you turn to look at the clock the hung in the kitchen to the right side of the dining table , that was 5 hours ago .. standing from the table as you pick up your empty plate heading to the kitchen as you place it inside the dish washer before going in the living room turning on {favorite show} as I sat and waited

After half a hour you heard the front door open as it closed a few minutes after , sighing as you hear Ryu Shi oh take off his work shoes as he walks into the house turning to see you sitting on the couch as he walks over to give you a kiss

“Did you eat..” reader says with no emotion eyes not leaving the tv

“Yea , why are you still up?” Ryu Shi oh asks as he sits down beside you once he realized you weren’t going to give him a kiss as you usually would making him a bit confused

“ 너 창녀랑 재밌게 놀아?” Reader says as she turns to Shi oh giving him a cold look before turning back towards the tv

(Translation: Do you have fun with prostitutes?)

“What..” Ryu Shi oh says as let looks at you

“What are you talking about” He finishes waiting for your reply as you chuckle before standing to your feet as you turn to look at him once more

“Don’t act dumb, yah , I came to see today the tell you about our baby that I just found out about only for you the be giggling up with a whore not only that you ate with her didn’t you” reader says eyes not leaving his once

“ 대답도 하지 말고그냥..소파에서자요 응?..”readers says as she lets out a sigh breaking eye contact with Ryu Shi oh as she starts to feel more hurt

Translation : Don’t even answer, just .. sleep on the sofa , okay?

“ 아침에 얘기하자” reader finishes as she turns on her heels leaving a dumb founded Ryu Shi oh as he tries to process the new information now realizing he had to fix it before it was to late

Namsoon knew what her mission was. She knew Heesik was counting on her, the whole police station was counting on her, and finally , her mother was counting on her, but why was she thinking about Sio's words from yesterday?

"I've never had a birthday. I don't know my birthday so, it didn't feel important. They never gave me a birthday either, so I've never experienced it," Sio admitted as he looked out the window in his office. Namsoon sat on the black leather office chair behind him as she looked at him. Her eyes had a glint of sadness as she watched his back, feeling a certain emotion arise in her chest, pinching her heart. Namsoon shook her head as she pushed away the stinging feeling in her heart , not wanting it to affect her any longer.

Namsoon covered her watch with her palm, blocking the camera and microphone.

"Sio," Namsoon called out as Sio turned, awaiting her response. "Could we go out tomorrow? In the afternoon?" Namsoon asked with a wide smile on her face as Sio's lips turned into a smile, his cheekbones rising as he bent down, his face in front of hers as he responded, "Anything for you".

Namsoon's wrist was empty. Namsoon held onto the strap of her bag as she looked around the store. The store wasn't just any store, but an expensive cake store that was well known in Gangnam.

"Hello miss! Could I offer any help with our selection of cakes?" The staff approached Namsoon as she turned to them, a smile plastered on her face as she nodded.

"I'm getting a cake and maybe some brownies for..." Namsoon started but couldn't complete her sentence as she trailed off. Sio didn't feel like a boss to her, nor did he feel like a superior to her. He felt like someone that would take a bullet for her, someone that would be there for her at the snap of her fingers.

"Boyfriend? Excellent! We have a large selection of cakes and brownies that many couples get for each other and we're having a sale today as it's a weekend!" The staff spoke as Namsoon's eyes widened.

Namsoon had never considered it if he could be her boyfriend... he confessed his feelings to her, but she didn't respond. Wasn't that how all the Kdramas went?

The same feeling she felt the previous day returned as she looked at the glass casing, filled with different varieties of cakes and goods. Namsoon couldn't help but smile as she thought about what he'd like. Imagine his face, smiling as he looks at the cake and brownies, closing his eyes and making a wish. She felt the heat engulfing her cheeks as she slapped her face softly, trying to get rid of the embarrassment of her delusions.

"Would you like the cheesecake and brownie set? It's a very popular set among couples!" The staff asked behind the glass display as Namsoon nodded, eagerly watching the staff placing the cake and brownies carefully into the paper box.

Namsoon opened her wallet as she saw the photo Sio and her had taken during their steak dinner at the Mongolian Restaurant. Sio had a smile on his face as Namsoon held the camera up and held up a peace sign.

"That'll be 14,000 won, would you like to pay with a card?" The cashier clicked several buttons as Namsoon nodded, "Could you add candles to the order?".

The cashier smiled as she nodded, chuckling, "I'm sure your boyfriend will be very happy, especially when he has such a pretty girlfriend". Namsoon laughed at the cashier's flattery as she tapped her card on the reader, hearing a beep as the payment went through. Namsoon waved goodbye to the staff as she stepped outside the store.

"I'm at the address you sent, I'm outside." Namsoon's phone buzzed as she read the message from Sio. Her eyes lit up as she looked around the street, looking for the black car Sio would use to work and finally one of the windows on the cars rolled down, revealing Sio as he waved at her.

Namsoon grinned as she ran towards the stationary car, opening the door with her empty hand as she went into the car. Sio smiled at the girl as his eyes landed on the cake in her hand.

"What's this?" Sio asked as Namsoon looked at the cake in her hand, "Well, you mentioned that you've never had a birthday. So I thought we could have one today! It doesn't have to be a birthday, it could just be a party!".

Namsoon looked at Sio's face, expecting a smile or maybe look of upset, but instead, he looked like he had a lot running through his mind. His eyes were glued onto the cake before it rose to her eyes.

Out of anxiousness, Namsoon began blabbering, "Sio? Do you not like it? If you don't want to, then I could just bring back the cake home for dinner, we don't have to -"

"Thank you".

Namsoon looked at Sio, eyes wide as she looked at him. His hand was on hers as their hands rested on the solid cake box.

"Sio, this is the least I can do. Even in Mongolia, I had birthdays every year! You should have one too," Namsoon said as Sio looked at the girl, a hint of adoration in his face as he whispered, "Then celebrate with me every year. We'll celebrate together".

Namsoon swore she felt shivers down her spine as she looked at him. Every sense of responsibility given by the people around her seemed to disappear. Sio didn't make her feel like how she felt when she was with her mother, her family members, or even strangers around her.

"Let's go!" Namsoon yelled as she raised both her hands up in the air, running towards the grass patch beside Hangang River.

Namsoon didn't know much about South Korea... yet, but she knew that Hangan River was a place where many people would gather and have picnics in the day, while couples would come out at night. Technically, since the sun was setting, they were quite literally in the middle.

Namsoon crossed her legs as she sat across from Sio, who looked uncomfortable crossing his legs, his legs being too long and his pants being too tight once he sat down.

"Sio, should we just sit at the steps? You look like you aren't comfortable," Namsoon asked as Sio shook his head.

"I won't let something as small as pants ruin our time here. Now, what do we do now?" Sio responded as Namsoon began opening the cake box, revealing the cake and the brownies on the side.

Namsoon took out the packet of coloured candles as she placed them around the surface of the cake. The lighter in her hand clicked several times as her thumb rolled the wheel on the side, lighting a fire as she lit the candles.

"Sio, hold up the cake, I'll take a photo," Namsoon told the CEO as she held up her phone camera, pressing record as she sang.

"Happy birthday to you."

Sio didn't want the moment to end. It felt like he had the universe before him, singing him happy birthday. The only person that truly cared about him, right infront of him. The one he wanted forever and ever, with him at that moment.

"Happy birthday our dear Sio, Happy birthday to you," Namsoon ended the song as she whispered behind the camera, "Make a wish!".

Sio closed his eyes as he wished, with all his might to every higher being up in the sky listening to him.

"I wish... that we'll be together, forever. Just Namsoon and I," Sio wished as he opened his eyes and blew out the candles.

Namsoon tapped her wrists, mimicking clapping as she stopped the recording, placing her phone down.

"What did you wish for Sio?" Namsoon asked as Sio responded, "Isn't it a thing that if we say our wishes out loud, they won't come true?".

Namsoon whined as she said, "But I'm really curious! So I have to know!".

Sio sighed, a cheeky smile on his face as he said, "I wish for us to always be together".

This made Namsoon's smile fade as she looked to the cake, avoiding his stare as she sighed.

They would never be able to be together, and she knew that deep down. They could try to escape and avoid everyone, but her mother or pavel would find them. It was only a matter of time, but they'd make use of it, spend every second together.

"I know I've already said this, but I still have feelings for you. I won't force you into anything, but I want you to know that I'll always choose you," Sio said as he looked up to the orange sky, turning his body to see the sunset behind him.

Sio looked breathtaking, and Namsoon couldn't waste the moment. Taking back her phone, she snapped a photo as she looked at him, a wave of sadness washing over her as she stared at him.

It was only a matter of time.

"Only You and I Exist"

Inspired by the song "Exist" by Eric Nam. I went to his concert (House on a Hill tour) and I fell in love with this song.

For as long as Leon has known, he has always been alone. His family got themselves killed because they dabbled in crime, and everyone he got close with dies or goes their separate ways. Stability is foreign to him. Leon never voices this because he does not want to sound like a wimp. People have gone through the same shit he has, so who is he to complain?

Getting calls from the DSO and going somewhere in the world for an unknown amount of time is Leon's life. It has been since he saved Ashely in the remote, Spanish village. After completing a mission, Leon would either drown himself in alcohol or silence. Sometimes both. To himself, Leon is a speck of dust flying through the wind. No direction in life. Just lost in the neverending gust of wind.

Leon longed for stability. He longed for someone to pull him out of the life of uncertainty and pain. He wanted someone who could understand him. Leon wanted someone to ground him when the wind blew too hard...Then you came along.

You became Leon's anchor when the missions and responsibilities were about to push Leon over the edge. You two met on a DSO mission as partners. You know those scenes in movies or books where two people are at their lowest and they share their stores, and next thing you know they leave closer than before? Yeah, that happened to you and Leon. He wishes that you two met in better circumstances, but you told him that all that matters is what is in front of you.

You knew about the baggage Leon carries and he knows about yours. It was hard for the two of you to get over your trauma, still is. Leon was scared at how easy it was to love you. He knew what love was but something like this? So consuming? Is that what love is? If it is then Leon wants it to stay that way. He wants you to hold him when the wind blows too hard, and it is scary.

What if, like everyone else, you leave Leon alone? That the two of you were never meant to be so the world will eventually take you from him. A blip. Whenever Leon feels like this, you hold him in your hands and tell him, "We're in this together." Pulling him from his dark thoughts. You let him know that loving each other is worth the risk. When you two are together, you should forget about the unforgiving world outside and bask in each other's love.

So, here he is. At a concert that you wanted to go to because Leon did not want you to go alone. He knows that you can handle yourself, you have proven that more than once but it is Leon's job to protect you. In exchange for the love you give him, Leon will protect you with his life. When the artist starts to sing one specific song, it reminds Leon of you and your relationship.

You managed to get two floor tickets and you got to the venue a little late so you are standing on the outside of the crowd. Leon pulls you towards him, a few steps away from everyone, and holds you against him.

"Hold, hold me in your hands I'm just a speck of sand Lost in the wind 'Til I catch your drift Spinning me in circles, oh It's easy to dismiss As if we're just a blip Put it on the line Just for tonight Only you and I exist"

Dancing to lyrics, you and Leon are in your own world. No one else is in that venue but the two of you. So close Leon holds you and you can feel his heartbeat. Your bodies sway in small circles to the rhythm of the melody.

"Why do we fear what we could have When it gets good we always run away? Scared that wе might repeat the past Fallin' in lovе should never feel this way"

Leon refuses to go back to his way of life. The dark and unknowing life he lived. A mentally and physically draining life he lived. He was a fool to be scared to open himself to you, to let you hold his heart in your hands because you take so good care of it. You cradle his heart like a precious jewel. Leon knows that there will be times when either one of you will bury yourselves in the darkness again, but it is okay. You have each other. Love is scary but it is so worth it, Leon learned. The stability and intimate connection Leon has longed for is finally found, and he will never let you go. Not to anyone or the world itself.
