#nana arguments

i got into an argument over official languages with my nana today but she didn’t let me speak so it’s been bubbling inside of me for fucking ages so i’m just gonna write what i would say here for my own benefit :)

(for context, i live in Aotearoa (New Zealand))

the only reason you would make a language official if it’s 1. important to the people of the country and 2. it’s going to be lost if it isn’t legally protected.

English doesn’t need the protection, we all speak english, we all know english, people aren’t denied opportunities because they only know english. Te Reo Māori needs the legal standing it has been granted to prevent it from nearing extinction, again. Making Te Reo Māori an official language means that Māori people have better chances to be represented accurately in court, hospitals, schools, and everywhere else. Te Reo Māori needed to be protected.

New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) needed to be made an official language as the deaf people of Aotearoa didn’t have access to the country’s resources outside the deaf community. Making NZSL an offical language means that deaf new zealanders get to have a translator in court, in the medical sector, in schools. it gives them a fairer chance to succeed in a hearing dominated world. NZSL needed to be protected.

English didn’t. English doesn’t. you can go ANYWHERE and speak english, and get what you want, you don’t have to jump through hoops if you are a native english speaker of aotearoa. exams are, by default, in english, you don’t need to request a translator, or translated copy. you can understand everything without a middle man in a legal setting. the doctor can tell you directly what is wrong with you. English stands to gain absolutely nothing by making it an official language. it wouldn’t change anything. it’s not necessary, and it would lower the importance of being an offical language. in the public eye, Te Reo and NZSL got a boost up, climbing their way up to be seen as a proper language, not a “primitive” language, as they have both been described. English doesn’t need the boost.

Aotearoa only needs the two official languages.

hello, I saw your RCU post and I would like to say that Rondo does canonically take place in between the anime and the movie, since in one of the Nana scenes, she has a picture from the 100th Starlight play, indicating that the giraffe put her into a loop one more time or smth, and that's why the order of the revues is different

?? i know Rondo takes place between the Anime series and Gekijouban, and as a "recap movie" its in the same timeline even. that's why there's a long print at the bottom of Rondo's photo that explicitly states its a personal theory that its possible to consider Rondo as a recap told in Nana's perspective, thus potentially Technically counting as an alternative of the anime

the giraffe also didnt place her in another loop, the giraffe and nana canonically do also just hang out in the magic basement (that is also canonically capable of remaking stages from memory) so its likely they actually just spent that entire time chatting about the starlight that had happened.

somewhat relatedly, the interviews/commentaries also confirm that the giraffe isnt even the moderator for the wild screen revues, its all just nana. which highly implies that nana is more than capable of moving the magical stage herself - its no longer even necessary for the giraffe to do anything for things to happen among them

Have a good relationship with my dad plus we don’t talk that much so we haven’t fought in awhile. Ah they're so cute too! I think that the boys are each mama's boys and have always been attached to their hips. Mama Leech has been repeatedly referred to as a worrywart, checking in on her boys nearly daily (?) to make sure they're safe. And while we haven't heard as much about Mama Ashengrotto, Azul has mentioned having a close relationship to her, so it's safe to assume they're pretty attached. They're stark defenders of their boys.

They're also fairly aware of what their sons can be like, and are quick to coddle you over them. It's quite sweet, their sons think, until they realize that Mama is showing just a bit of favoritism and telling you all the ways to make him melt into your arms again. Ah, but can they really be mad when their spouse is fitting into their family so well? Plus, they can never really stay mad at you for long for silly arguments, you just too cute sometimes!

The band is composed by five members, Park Jongseong, the guitarist, Park Sunghoon, the drummer, Nishimura Riki, known as Ni-ki, the bassist, and the two singers, Sim Jaeyun and Lee Heeseung. Their career as a band was going well, in fact, they achieved many goals that they never expected to reach. That was until another group made its appearence, AERA. They soon found rivalry and hatred building up, especially between VAMPYRE's singer, Heesung, and AERA's guitarist, Y/n.

VAMPYRE was the perfect definition of success. The captivating vocals, the electrical output of their guitars led them to fame. From performing to tiny clubs to singing in front of an audience of thousands of people, achieving recognition and stardom. But as soon as they were rising up, AERA made its appearance for the first time on the internet. Rina’s vocals were angelic and haunting, impossible to forget, Aeri’s bass lines were compelling, and the sounds produced by Y/n’s guitar were both innovative and edgy, everything about them was just perfect. That quickly captured the media’s attention, making them known internationally.

The quickly growing fame of AERA made Heeseung worry, as it could possibly make his fans’ attention slowly fade away from them. Soon, he found himself full of worries and frustration, not wanting the spotlight to be shifted away from him.

The hatred grew passionately towards the girl band, who was now receiving comparisons between them and VAMPYRE.

That only made Heeseung’s frustration worse, making it unbearable at some point.

After thanking your fans for coming and showing their support and appreciation to the band, you made their way to the backstage.

Your appearance was welcomed by a snarky comment made by another guy about their music “Never knew that I had to yell in the mic to gain some fame” he said to his member, wiping sweat from his neck after the performance he gave.

Your eyes narrowed, glancing at the boy’s figure. You recognized that face. He was Heeseung, the singer of VAMPYRE. You two already had met previously, and it didn’t go well. “At least I don’t have to talk bad about others’ music to fill my ego and hide my insecurities” you said, shooting a smile to Heeseung, who was standing a few feet away from you.

The argument kept going on, your voice rose and so did Heeseung’s, drawing attention to yours and his bandmates.

“Heeseung, let’s just go” another boy said, grabbing his shoulders and pulling him away from you, even though the distance was far enough to keep you from pulling each other’s hair off.

You gave him one last glare before turning around to face Rina. “Leave it, Y/n. He’s not worth fighting” she said, rubbing her hand on your back.

Even though the need to get back at him for judging your music so quickly, you decided to be the bigger person and listen to Rina, appreciating the way she tried to calm you down.

His words left a bitter aftertaste, leading you to storm out of the room to go light up a cigarette, your hand trembling from the intensity of the argument.

Both ENTPs? Teasing and sarcasm are the backbone of your relationship, your number one love language and both of you agree on that.  You have a unique kind of romance, filled with banter, competition, roasting each other and a lot of skinship. You just love touching each other at any given chance and under any circumstances. You’d be hanging out alone or with your group of friends, randomly and unexpectedly, you decide to shower each other in affection. You’re a dynamic and chaotic couple, literally annoying each other and everyone else in the room. May or may not use insults as nicknames.

ENTPs get bored easily and want to be entertained 24/7 or you might lose interest. Lucky for you, you found each other, both you and Gojo have a blast together in your own  unique way. You may team up to prank people just because why not? Joking around a lot, people may not take you seriously, but in reality you’re smart and high intellectuals. You’re just unique in everything, to the point that only you can get each other.

Gojo likes to annoy you, using your height to tease you. Always making playful remarks. He finds amusement in resting his arm on top of your head, playfully putting all of his weight just to see you struggle.

“you know babe, you’re the perfect height for a napkin holder!” .

“They say good things come in small packages, but I guess great things come in tiny ones…just like you hehe”.

Would you get offended? Absolutely not! You always come up with the best comebacks. And once you start teasing each other, the cycle never ends.

“Oh yeah? You think I’m too short? Well I guess you’re just too tall! I’m pretty sure you were a giraffe in your past life, you even got the long neck to match!”

“you’re like a human ladder, I won’t find a difficulty changing my lamps”.

This kind of jokesstrengthens your relationship, Gojo loves loves it when you don’t hold back and just make fun of him,  when you match his energy and vibe. Even during arguments, you never stop being playful, he mischievously places your belongings on higher shelves so he’d watch you struggle to reach them or so you can ask him from help. But of course as an ENTP you’re independent and kind of self-centered so it would be an insult to you if you ask for help. So he always ends up laughing while watching you tiptoeing or  getting on the counter to get to that shelf.  

“Really? Tiptoeing? You wouldn’t even reach my knees” .

He’d willingly get you what you want even though you defiantly told him that you can handle it yourself. Your bickering sets everyone off the edge, except for you. People around you might think  you hate each other since you’re getting to each other’s throat but in reality it’s just a simple small argument, ENTPs just love the drama.

Beyond the mean jokes and the heart crushing teasing, you truly appreciate each other’s heights. He finds you extremely cute, he loves the height gap and given Gojo’s personality it makes him feel very protective over you.

“Your height only adds to your charm and uniqueness..making you even more captivating and attractive in my eyes.” .

In return, of course you love his height too. Whenever you burry your head in his chest, you can actually listen to his heartbeat, and you find it really soothing, his huge form makes you feel safe and warm, he’s like a human teddy bear. His embrace is your favorite hideout and his big arms are your shields.

“I feel so secure when I’m with you. Your height makes me feel safe…. It adds to your charisma” .

ENTPs feed on compliments; it boosts your self-confidence to the top. After making fun of each other, you always make sure to reassure each other and show your love and admiration. You actually find joy in each other’s  size difference, both of you are like the same person but in different shapes, what’s more fun than that?!

Intuition

He may not be Sherlock Holmes, but he trusts his intuition.

In fact, right now his intuition is probably a hell of a lot more reliable than Sherlock’s. He’s seen what Sherlock will do when blinded by anger.

It’s time for Captain Watson to take control.

“Don’t look out the window,” he hisses through a smile. “Keep looking at me or Rosie. Look happy.”

“But John—“ Sherlock argues, gesticulating wildly.

“Sherlock. Trust me.” He knows his tone leaves no room for argument. Even from the great Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock freezes and then starts fidgeting slightly awkwardly. He seems almost … flustered. But then he gives a tiny nod and plasters on a fake smile while keeping his eyes firmly on Rosie.

“Good. Now, you are going to get up and go order two coffees. And I am going to call Mrs. Hudson and ask her to pick up Rosie from here.” He looks at his daughter who is happily scribbling with the crayons and blank paper they brought. He thinks maybe he can see some hearts among her chaos of lines. “We aren’t doing anything until we get Rosie out of here.”

That seems to get through to Sherlock. “Right. Of course. Coffees.”

They proceed with their tasks and soon are back at the table, pretending to have a normal conversation while they wait for their landlady. It’s excruciating.

“Who is he?” Sherlock asks, leaning back in his chair, the picture of relaxation.

“I don’t remember his name but he was on the scene at the … Smith abduction case maybe? Something around that time.” He takes a drink of coffee. “And the bastard has been one of the constables assigned to my room too. Changed his hair and shaved off his moustache but definitely the same guy.”

“Of course, I should have known. No man in their right mind would dye their hair that colour. He’s hoping you won’t make the connection,” Sherlock says, picking up one of the crayons and drawing a happy face beside Rosie’s scribbles. She giggles and snatches the crayon from his hand, having decided she needs the yellow at this very instant. “He seems to think he has a lot to lose. I have no doubt he’s planning an escape—somewhere in Europe most likely.”

To anyone else, he’s sure Sherlock sounds calm, but he hears the quiet fury lacing every word.

He doesn’t know what to say, so they sit in silence for a moment. He drinks his coffee and Sherlock and Rosie play a game of keep away with the crayons.

“I wonder how Larkin got mixed up in all this. Hate to say it, but I feel a bit sorry for the guy,” he finally says, mostly to pass the time.

“That’s easy,” Sherlock says, keeping his focus on Rosie. “Constable Needs-to-Die happened upon Mr. Larkin in the midst of some crime. Something serious that would come with significant jail time. The constable looked the other way in exchange for a major favour, which he called in when he decided he needed to get you out of the picture.” A pause. “Feel no sympathy. Robert Larkin got exactly what he deserved.”

That rather somber sentiment is quickly dissipated by Rosie’s squeals of delight and calls of “Nana” that announce Mrs. Hudson’s arrival. She’s trying to jump down from the booster even before Mrs. Hudson made her way through the door.

“What did you tell her?” Sherlock asks quietly, leaning close.

“Just that I … errr… just that I was hoping to have a little extra time alone with you,” he says, feeling the heat in his cheeks rise. It’s not that far from the truth, really, but feels like a confession of sorts.

Mrs. Hudson swoops in and hugs Rosie before Sherlock can respond. “There’s my little princess, let’s get you in your pushchair. We are going to have so much fun!” For a woman pushing 80, Mrs. Hudson is impressively spry. She quickly gets everything together (eschewing all help), including getting Rosie all buckled in without a fuss.

“Thank you, Mrs. Hudson,” Sherlock says, his voice neutral but his toe tapping rather aggressively.

“It’s my pleasure, boys. You two have fun,” Mrs. Hudson replies with a wink. “Don’t get into too much trouble.” Her words are light but there’s a look in her eye that makes him think she understands the urgency. In a flash, she and Rosie are gone.

He tries to pick up his coffee but his hands are shaking in anticipation of what’s to come. And relief that, whatever happens, Rosie is safe in Baker Street. Where she belongs.

It’s also relief that he is here with Sherlock, about to do … whatever it is they are about to do. Together. It’s where they belong.

“John,” Sherlock says, forcefully. “Rosie is safe. It’s time to do things my way now.”

Time to follow intuition once again.

“Dear god, yes.”
