i think its time transfeminists acknowledge that drag is absolutely part of the overall modern system of transmisogyny. until we get to a world where the average TME person doesn't think of trans women and fems as men in dresses it will continue to be part of transmisogyny, and we can see that this is true by the way TME queer culture reifies and defends any obviously transmisogynistic caricatures as a both necessary and important part of itself, over any actually existing TMA people or characters. similarly, we can see it in the way non-queer TME culture positions drag queens not only as equivalent to transfems, but as our representatives! every time a news panel talks about trans bans with a drag queen instead of a trans woman, when shows count them as their exclusive TMA representation, it upholds the system of transmisogyny. i understand that some trans women and fems have found themselves through it, but the reality is that those individual stories don't cancel out or validate all the rest of the time when drag's existence is used to maintain the systems of transmisogyny.
