First Person's POV
Last night was bucketing down with rain, the Mikaelsons needed help and I came as soon as I could to lend the support that was needed. My relationship with Elijah was about three months in, I loved every moment of our relationship, he was the dream man and was good for me. We hadn't stayed at the other's place overnight so when Elijah offered me to stay at the compound I didn't think of the fact that I wouldn't have any clothes to change into. So, as I stood in Elijah's bedroom with only a towel wrapped around me, meaning I had to improvise.
I grabbed one of Elijah's shirts, found a pair of his boxers, then glanced around Elijah's room and took notice of his safe haven that held objects that amplified Elijah's likes into physical form. The history alone that was in the room fascinated me and I wish I could've been a vampire from centuries ago to see the world in all its glory. I jumped hearing a sound, I slowly turned around, offering a shy smile to Elijah as he stared at me with admiration in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Elijah but once I had showered I realised that I didn't have any clothes and so I borrowed your clothes... I hope you don't mind, I know I should've asked beforehand..." Elijah walked forward, his hands resting on my arms, a soft smile gracing his lips as he rested a kiss on my forehead.
"No need to apologise, you look quite adorable." He whispered, rolling up the sleeves of what was currently my shirt, I stared at him with love in my eyes, I wanted to be stuck in these moments forever and I hoped with every fibre in my being that what I had with Elijah wouldn't disappear.
"You think I look adorable?" I questioned, smiling happily at the confession that slipped his lips.
"I do. You, my dear, always look stunning."
"Hmm, thank you." I gleamed, kissing his cheek and began looking at the bookshelf he had in his room.
"You know, despite how sad it must be from time to time... I wish I could've been a vampire around when you became one. Just seeing all that history, experiencing it for myself... I think I would've enjoyed it." I watched as Elijah grabbed a leather-bound book off the shelf and gestured to sit on the bed.
"This is my journal from 1322-1325. I didn't write every day, just when I needed to, I know you have an interest in the 1300s and so maybe reading about my retellings might be enough." I carefully placed the book to the side, wrapped my arms around him and whispered against his ear.
"Thank you for paying attention, thanking you for knowing what I like." It was an odd feeling, my past relationships didn't pay attention to my interests as Elijah did and having him know what I liked, it made me feel special and considered.
"Why wouldn't I pay attention to what you liked?" He brushed my hair away from his face, his hand remaining against my cheek and staring at me with his usual resting face of concern.
"I'm just... before I met you, I prepared myself to be let down in relationships, so sometimes I have to remind myself you are an absolute gentleman and I have no need to worry about you remembering my birthday, my favourite time period or anything like that." Elijah nodded, taking a breath, offering a smile and pulled me to rest against his chest as we lay together in his obnoxiously large bed and he read his journal entries from those three years.
"I'll have these washed, make sure you get your clothes back."
"No need to worry, I'll wash them, set them aside and they can be yours if you don't have anything to wear." He placed the journal away within the blink of an eye and then he was back on the bed with me in his arms.
"Thank you... maybe every now and again you could wear the shirt, please? So it has your scent?" He let a soft chuckle escape his lips, nodding at my request and gently squeezing my hand as he paused for a moment. Taking in the moment and mindlessly began running his thumb up and down my thigh.
"Yes, I can do that. Anything for you."
The next morning, for a moment I felt like I couldn't breathe, it was like there was a weight over my chest and it took me a good moment to realise that it was just Elijah's arm. I tried prying his arm off, however, his arm only seemed to be getting heavier against me.
"Elijah..." I patted his arm, hoping his vampiric hearing would be active during his slumber.
"Are you alright?" He questioned, sitting up instantly and looked around the room for any impending danger. I sucked in a deep breath, holding his hand and kissed it lightly.
"I'm fine. I just couldn't breathe properly, your arm was dead weight." He nods, still looking worried and concerned over my well-being.
"I apologise." I smiled, kissing his lips lightly and began running my hands through his hair, admiring the man and soaking in this moment with him looking at peace for once in his rare moments of modern life.
"No need to say sorry. It just shows that even in sleep you're protecting me." Elijah chuckled softly, his chesty laugh was music to my ears, one of my favourite sounds to listen to once I realised it existed.
"You're right, darling." He whispered, continuing to caress my cheek, smiling lightly and staying in the moment with me for a good while before the real world caught up with us again and sucked it all away like ripping off a bandaid.

Hi could you write some angst about a deeply insecure reader who hates her appearance and is sort of friends with Elena and everyone(pushed to the side kind of relationship)but when klaus comes around it’s clear that she has a crush but believes he’s out of her league then klaus uses it to his advantage by showing an interest in her for information and helps her with her self worth.klaus then starts to develop feelings for her but then it’s revealed that he was just manipulating her and reader is devastated and utterly humiliated and it sets her back to how she was before him.(sorry if that was a really long explanation, you can decide the ending)thanks I love your writing btw

Real
Growing up in Mystic Falls is a bizarre experience.
There were town events almost every month where you had to dress up and act better than everyone, parents basically had a competition over who had the prettiest daughters or the most handsome sons.
Not my parents.
They didn't think I was good enough to even pretend that I could compete. I was told my worth from a young age and became more aware of it with time. When your own parents don't think you're good enough it's sort of an eye-opener if you will.
It didn't help that everyone in this town seemed to be born into modelling.
Somehow I was lucky enough to wind up 'friends' with people like Elena, Caroline and Bonnie but I knew I didn't belong with them. Somehow they were gorgeous enough to get whatever they wanted.
Sometimes I wondered if everyone else at the age of 17 looked like them and I was behind or if somewhere, I was above average. I doubted it. A lot.
Occasionally I would look at a mirror and think that I wasn't even that bad to look at. There was nothing particularly ugly about me, there just wasn't anything special. I looked plain in a way, bland and forgettable.
I was very forgettable actually. My 'friends' made that abundantly clear throughout the years when they would go out without me or forget to ask if I also wanted something or liked something.
Somehow I was of no value to them. Perhaps I was simply there to amplify their beauty. Like a DUFF. I was definitely the DUFF.
Damon actually told me that I was once, after Tyler had made the joke and Damon asked what it meant. Even though I already knew it to be true, to be told it was much worse.
You could sort of tell everyone else was thinking it, especially when I was stood beside Caroline.
Stefan was the only one who was nice but I wasn't sure if it was out of pity or just because that was who he was. Then again, I'd rather just not know.
So I tried my best to keep in the background, avoid attention and stay out the way.
Even with all the vampire and werewolf drama that took course, I kept myself quiet and to the side. Strangely it was Katherine who was kind to me, whether she had an ulterior motif I'm not so sure anymore but she never hurt me in the time she was there. Neither did Elijah when he came to town, he was polite to everyone but it was obvious that my presence was irrelevant to him.
And then of course, Klaus arrived.
I didn't officially meet him until the senior prank night, he sort of just threw to the side and told me to keep my mouth closed and not to bother running because he'd just kill me. Part of me thought about running anyway so he would just end it but I didn't.
Klaus dragged me by my wrist into his car, told me to keep quiet while he drove Elena to the hospital. For whatever reason he brought me along and left me in the car as he went to drain her of blood for his hybrids. I did as told: sat silently and waited.
He came back out and spoke to Damon for a moment, I saw them glance over in my direction only for Damon to laugh and smirk. I sighed to myself and got out the car. It was clear that Klaus thought I could be a good pawn but was surly mistaken and Damon told him to do whatever he wanted to me. In response I walked home, neither noticed so it was fine.
A week or so later he came back, crashed homecoming or something? I dunno, I wasn't there but I was told about it the next day via a stroppy Caroline.
It was that same day that he came and sat beside me at the grill. I ignored him for the most part, confused by his attempt at what I could only guess was flirting? I wasn't really sure. I think he could tell.
"Not easily impressed are you love?" he questioned as he leant forward, uncomfortably close. I sort of just looked at him, still unsure to what he wanted. A smirk pulled at the end of his lips and his hand lifted, his fingers wrapping around a piece of my hair making frown and pull away abruptly. Without hesitation I stood up and spun on my heel, going to leave. His laugh followed me and a hand grabbed my waits, it was stange.
"Calm down love, It's not like I was going to rip it out, I just wondered what it felt like" he chuckled, pulling my back flush against his front making me tense and squirm.
"It feels like hair" I stated simply "Now get off" I grunted, shoving my elbow into his side to make him let go. I kept walking, keeping my eyes on the ground.
The next time I saw him he apologised for the previous encounter which again, i didn't understand but there was no point in questioning and arguing so I just accepted it and tried to leave but he asked if I'd stay for one drink, he asked so nicely and he smiled. I was stupid enough to think it was genuine and accepted.
Looking back it was pretty obvious that this was a game for him or a trap, whatever you want to label it but in the moment I ignored what was right in my face. Deep down I knew it was all a joke of sorts really.
But no boy, let alone a man had shown me this sort of attention and the soft fluttering it made me feel had me staying for far too long. I listened to his little stories and asked a range of questions as the drinks kept coming. He asked a couple about me but i gave relatively vague answers. There wasn't much I had to give him on me, I wasn't up for a pity party about friends and I didn't really fancy talking about my shitty parents either. I think Klaus picked up on the fact that I didn't really want to talk about me and eventually gave up with it.
It was late when I realised I needed to get home and he offered to take me which I admit made me wary. I didn't want him to kidnap me and think I'd be any good as leverage again, though I guess Damon made that pretty clear already. I decided to just walk home which he eventually accepted and got into his car.
Walking by myself probably wasn't my best option after drinking so much in one go but I made it home with minimal stumbling. My mother shook her head when she saw me and asked what was wrong with me. When she realised I had been drinking her mind jumped to two very different conclusions. The first being that I was being a slut which was ironic as in the past she'd made it clear that no guy would want to sleep with me, and the second being that I had taken pills to kill myself.
Listening to her drastic thinking made me wonder what kind of pills she was on but I didn't question it and waited for my father to come and take her to bed, telling her to just ignore me. Then I proceeded to make my way to the bathroom, getting changed and washing my face before going to my bed.
My phone dinged making me sigh, thinking it was Elena asking me to help her with something dumb and life threatening however much to my surprise it was Klaus. A smile involuntarily spread across my face and we messaged back and forth before he told me to rest.
The following few days he would just check in. Not too much but he also made it clear that he hadn't forgotten me which was all I had ever truly wanted from someone. To be acknowledged at the very least.
Of course I didn't tell the others that he had been talking to me, besides they didn't ask so I didn't see why I should. I guess I just wanted something for myself.
I wasn't completely stupid. I always had the feeling that he was using me, especially towards the start...but he was just so wonderful with his words and his ways.
When he began to make and buy sweet gifts and claim they were tokens of his affection, I couldn't help the blush on my face. When he would find a way to have his skin against mine, or how he would pick up my hand and gently tug my along. Somehow we always seemed to end up somewhere for food, and he would always refuse to let me pay.
Something about him was so enticing, addictive if you will.
He began to make me feel a certain way. He made me warm and happy. His touch was so soft, it made me feel like I was buzzing. i was stupid for thinking he could feel the same way about me.
I had been so scared to admit my feelings.
He had assured me that he would never push me to.
He told me that he liked me, that he didn't want me to be frightened of him or nervous around him. "Not unless it's the sort of nervous that puts butterflies in your stomach sweetheart" he had teased and my cheeks had glowed red.
Over the space of months his presence never lessoned. He always made time to see me, and speak with me. I found myself longing for his voice, his touch.
On days where he was too busy at home, he would urge me to come over. I would spend as long as I possibly could with him, a few times I even stayed over but he had slept on top of the duvet so that I would feel comfortable.
This had gone on for a small while until he actually said the words 'I love you'.
Perhaps I was just so happy to actually hear those words. Maybe I believed them to be true, real. Or I just saw what I wanted to see, heard what I wanted to hear and ignored the rest.
The time I gave myself to him used to make my smile and blush. Now it just makes me feel dirty, humiliated and embarrassed.
Knowing that he could and has had his hands all over my body, his lips and eyes. In the moment I felt like a goddess, probably because that’s what he told me I was. The memory of him inside me haunts me. I had thought it to be such a beautiful experience, romantic and personal.
I wish I could say that I had slept with him only once but as the months went by we would share intimacy often.
I had even told him that I loved him, so many times and I meant it for all of them.
So you should understand why it was so hard to accidentally hear him tell his sister that he had been compelling me for any information on the others.
It had felt as though my heart had stopped when the words hit my ears and tears already made my eyes burn. I heard a weak laugh and turned my head to see Damon, strung up by chains whilst bleeding all over, looking straight back at me.
“Y/n…” I heard Klaus’s voice, his tone one of panic or maybe it was just surprise. He probably didn’t want me to know of his routine. Damon only rolled his eyes and gave me look,
“You didn’t…think it was real, right?” He coughed, a cruel smile on his face.
His words just made me quieter. They made me think. Why did I think it was real?
My eyes slowly lifted to meet Klaus’s. I could see and feel Rebekah looking at me, everyone was silent. Even Damon shut up for a second. I think maybe he was expecting me to say something but I didn’t really have anything to tell him.
As awful as it all made me feel, and even with the amount of emotions swallowing me, I felt more disappointed in myself than I did him.
My right hand went to my left arm, pinching my skin through my jumper in some sort of hope that I’d wake up from some stupid nightmare but it didn’t work.
The first tear fell from my eye and I sniffed to keep the other ones from coming.
Klaus just looked at me, I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, I didn’t want to know either. I could just guess anyway.
So without a word I just turned around and left, walking quickly back out the door before breaking into a sprint in the direction of my house. I could feel the mascara running down my face, ruining the foundation I had only recently started wearing, for Klaus’s benefit.
My hands wiped at the tears as I pushed my from door shut behind me and went upstairs, blocking out the annoyed voices of my parents and locking myself in my room.
It was only once I was in the shower that I was flooded with memories. That I remembered all the things I had done with him. By the time I stepped out of the bathroom my skin was scrubbed raw in an attempt to wash his touch away. Even the slightest touch made me feel as though my body was burning, stinging with pain but I would have rather felt that every day than have to realise Klaus had been using me for over a year now.
I was curled in my bed, hidden under the blankets and surrounded by the dark as I let every comment not matter how small or petty play back through my mind.
I wasn’t even sure who to be upset with. I chose myself.
Klaus must’ve known I was an easy target. Desperate. I wonder how much he’s had me tell him. To be fair I knew more than you’d expect about what was going on. I had gotten good at observing and overhearing so I still knew what was going on, even when spending so much time with Klaus himself.
I also wondered what else he had compelled me to do. I hoped he wouldn’t do anything other than ask questions but I couldn’t help that fear creep inside me. It made me sick to my stomach, and then I wondered if he would just wait to compel me again so that I could continue to be his information feeder.
The idea made my fingers dig into my arm, bruising the skin purple but I wouldn’t stop. I only did so that I could go get some vervain that I kept downstairs in one of the cupboards at the back. I was reaching for the little glass bottle when I heard a door close. I spun around quickly to see Klaus in the doorway of my kitchen. My hand clutched onto the vervain tightly and I noticed his eyes glance at it briefly. His hands went up as if to show no harm but there was no way I would believe that meant a thing.
“Sweetheart- listen to me..” he began and I let out a breathless laugh
“Get out” I whispered making him sigh and frown as though he had the audacity to be upset or annoyed.
“Y/n..”
“No Klaus. I’m fucking serious, get out.” I told him, my eyes watering again. I let out an involuntary whimper when he stepped forward making him stop and stand still.
“I never meant for you to know that” he whispered and I frowned, swiping a tear away.
“Sorry I ruined your plan” I mumble, exhausted.
“No- no I didn’t mean it like that- I meant that-“
“Klaus it’s fine” I murmur, avoiding his eye, “It’s fine, I get it. You needed to know what was happening, you got to be two steps ahead. I’d appreciate if you just found someone else now please”
I could feel his stare on me, it make my skin itch and I just needed him to go. I could feel my hand getting clammy as I held onto the bottle.
“I haven’t compelled you in such a long time” he muttered, as though maybe that made it better. “I used to, but I truly have fallen for you Y/n. I love-“
“Please get out” I cut him off, my spare hand resting on my forehead to cover my eyes.
“I love you”
“No you don’t” I cry, “you wouldn’t do this to someone you love. I know you don’t love me. You never have and you never could. You’re just pretending again so I’ll let you control me, I don’t like it” I whimper, tears streaming again. I could hear him getting closer but I was already against the counter and I couldn’t out run him. There was no point in trying.
“Sweetheart, I’ll never use you again-“ he tried to argue but I couldn’t listen to it.
“I really, really need you to leave. Please Klaus just get out, I can’t stand you” I tell him honestly and for a second as I look up at him, he looks almost sad but I have to assume it’s still apart of his act.
“You- you’re not going to do anything…anything harmful are you? To yourself, I mean.” He asked and I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. I should never have told him that I’d had those thoughts or feelings once. I shouldn’t have ever said a word to him.
“No…now go away” I whisper, my hands trembling as I stared at the ground, listening to his footsteps eventually get further away.
I knew there was no way I could sleep, he was probably still outside my house. Waiting.
I wasn’t sure what he was waiting for but I could him there.
I had no idea what I was going to do.

cups of wine
klaus mikaelson x reader
summary: you had just found out of elijah’s affair, and klaus was right there to comfort you.
warnings: small angst, soft klaus, mentions of cheating
Tumblr media
"i believe you've had enough, dear." you heard niklaus say once again, trying to take away the cup of wine off your hands. you furrowed your eyebrows in annoyance, moving the cup to your red lips once again. you lost count of how many cups of wine you’ve drank, you just knew it wasn’t enough.
klaus sighed as he looked worriedly and pitifully at you. truth is, you were cheated on. by elijah. you had just found out. your eyes watered as you remember what you had seen earlier in the day.
you let out a relaxed breath, while you stepped foot into your shared house with the original vampire. work had been rough today, so you wanted nothing more than to kiss and be pampered by your boyfriend. you walked up the stairs, up to your room, your confusion increasing as you heard muffled sounds coming from your bedroom. did he have anyone over?
your heart broke as you heard her voice, well, her moans. hayley. you shook your head in denial behind the closed door. there was no way this was happening. maybe she was hurt and elijah was helping her. there was no way! your boyfriend loved you. he did. he reminded you everyday and he had never given you any reason to doubt him. he would never. right?
your heart was shattered into a million pieces when you opened the door to your bedroom. there they were. lost in your velvet sheets, their bodies tangled with one another's. you felt the air getting thinner, you couldn't breathe. you tried your hardest to catch your breath, as hot tears ran down your cheeks. your attempts at catching your breath must have been loud, because the two lovers seemed to stopped their passionate sex, startled by your presence.
"y/n!" said your boyfriend, standing up from the bed, a blanket now wrapped around his waist. you couldn't look at him, you shook your head, turning around on your heel and walking down the stairs. you ignored his calls, while he ran after you. you didn't care what he had to say. you grabbed your things, ignoring his every word, it was like he no longer existed to you.
you had told him before. that cheating was something you could never forgive. he knew there was no going back if he ever cheated on you. and here he is. with your eyes blurred with endless tears, you took off the necklace he had gifted you, not wanting to own anything that belonged to him, and placed it down on the kitchen counter.
"won't you let me explain, please?" elijah begged, but you ignored him yet again. you were done. he bit his lip anxiously, whilst he watched you break right in front of his eyes. he watched the tears that wouldn't stop falling from your eyes, your quivering lips and shaking hands.
"we're over." was the only thing you said to elijah, before you left.
you laughed sadly, remembering how pathetic you must have looked. klaus sighed, watching your every action. everyone already knew what had happened. klaus has always been your best friend, imagine his anger when he found out what his brother had done to you. imagine the rage he felt when he found out that the woman he loved was hurting, and because of his relative.
"that's enough, y/n. you've had too much already." klaus said, his hand reaching towards your cup, but you shook your head, taking the last sip of your now empty glass.
"your brother cheated on me, nik. what do you expect me to do?" you asked, your speech slurred. you were definitely tipsy, but it seemed like even the alcohol couldn't numb your pain. you raised your hand suddenly, intending to order another cup of wine, before klaus stopped you.
"no, love. i'm taking you home." klaus said, his hand wrapping around your waist, helping you stand. you shook your head, as you refuted. you needed more. it wasn't enough. you still hurt, you needed more. "come on." klaus said lovingly, walking you out of the mystic grill.
"no! 'm not drunk!" you attempted to say, hiccups interrupting you. klaus leaned you against a wall, for support, as he looked for his car keys in his pockets. "just one more." you begged, raising up one finger infront of klaus' face. he shook his head, and you pouted. klaus grabbed his keys, and wrapped his hand around you once again.
"let's go.” he said softly, while he gently walked you towards his car. you looked at him, as you attempted to walk, stumbling your way through, your legs getting tangled various times. “easy there, love.” klaus said gently, as he continued to help you walk.
klaus was handsome. so beautifully handsome. you couldn’t help but stare at him. god, he was so breathtakingly gorgeous. you couldn’t believe you had never actually noticed his immense beauty. you stopped walking out of no where, earning a confused look from the hybrid.
"you're- handsome." you confessed, smiling sweetly at him. klaus almost melted. he chuckled a bit.
"i know, love. now, let's keep going" klaus replied, a big smirk on his face, grabbing your arm once again, before you shook him off.
"no-why- why didn't i go for you?" you mumbled, loud enough for him to hear. klaus stopped dead in his tracks, widen eyes looking at you. "you'd never... hurt me." you said, dropping your head in both tiredness and in defeat. klaus frowned at your words. because you were right. he would never.
"let me get you home, alright, dear?" klaus spoke up yet again, trying to find your eyes. his heart sank as he heard a sob leaving your lips. you broke down entirely infront of the deadly hybrid, your hand gripping your chest.
"hurts." you tried saying, your slurred speech making it hard for the hybrid to understand you. you cried. loud, desperate sobs filling the sidewalk you both stood on. klaus cursed his brother for making you feel this way, wrapping you into his strong arms, his warmth bringing you the comfort you so desperately needed. he didn’t say a word, just gave you the space to cry it out, to let it out for once. after a few minutes of crying, you looked up at him. your chin rested on his strong chest, tears still running down your wet cheeks as you spoke up.
“help me hurt him back.” you said, hiccups and sobs making it difficult for you to speak. klaus’ thumbs dried your wet cheeks, hearing your every word, wanting nothing more than to help you and make you feel better at last.
“kiss me…” you begged, your hands tightening around his waist. klaus looked at you shocked by your request.
“love..”
“please?” you begged yet again, more tears leaving your eyes, and causing klaus’ heart to tighten again. his thumbs continued to dry your tears, or at least try to.
“i can’t do that, y/n.” klaus replied, his voice full of pity. he adored you. he was sure you were the love of his life. but he couldn’t have you when you were like this. he wouldn’t kiss you just for revenge. you frowned, shaking your head, your hands grabbing his shirt and making a fist out of them.
“please— nothing will hurt him more than this.” you managed to say, closing your eyes, feeling the delicate touches on your cheeks by klaus. you heard him sigh deeply, his hand now placing strands of your hair behind his ear.
“why don’t we get you home?” klaus added, his hands now running to your shoulders. your head dropped yet again, before klaus lead you towards his car. he helped you into his passenger seat, adjusting your seat belt, and soon drove you home.
it was a silent ride most of the time. all there could be heard would be your cries. klaus was tensed, not knowing what to do to make you feel better. comforting people wasn’t his strongest suit, but he wanted to help you. he just didn’t know how to. soon enough, the car came to a stop. you looked outside the window, finding your house. you had arrived. you took a deep breath, your head now on the head rest, exhausted from all the crying and hurt you had to endure today.
“i just—” you started, earning a look from klaus. “don’t understand. i— i was good to him.” you said, looking at klaus. “really! i was loving, i treated him with respect, i loved him, i— i was good!” you said, as if trying to convince klaus. klaus nodded along, because he knew.
“why wasn’t i good enough?” you asked, a sad chuckle leaving your lips, your hands drying your eyes. “what did i do wrong?” you asked, your voice breaking mid sentence. klaus soon grabbed your face into his hands, his thumbs stroking your cheeks gently.
“nothing, love. you did absolutely nothing wrong.” klaus replied, his eyes saddening at the sight of a broken you. “you are and will always be good enough.” klaus said softly.
“then why…? why did elijah— why did he…?” you tried asking, but the lump in your throat didn’t allow you to finish, as you broke down yet again, tears were wiped away yet again by the hybrid, as he shook his head.
“because he is idiotic, darling. he’s an imbecile for even thinking of the possibility of ever loving anyone else but you.” klaus said softly, his eyes staring directly into yours. one of his hands patted your head gently. “don’t shed more tears for him, i beg. he’s undeserving of them.”
you swallowed your tears and nodded your head slowly, earning a kind smile from klaus. you tried reciprocating his smile, yet only offered him a frown. klaus sighed softly, his head tilting gently.
“i shall make it my cause, that they never know a moment of happiness in their entire life.” klaus said sternly, yet sweetly to you. “i will make them suffer in ways that their idiotic, spoiled minds can never even come close to imagining.” klaus continued. you shook your head immediately. you didn’t want anything to happen to them. you just never wanted to be associated with them ever again, never have to see them again. but that was impossible and you knew it.
“please, don’t— it’s okay.” you pleaded, shaking your head. klaus let out a deep breath, as he listened to you. “i’m okay.” you faked a smile, one that klaus didn’t buy. you sighed. “i deserved this.” you said sadly, your words lighting up a fire in klaus’ heart.
“you what?” klaus asked, angered by your comment.
“i probably deserved this. i mean, of course all i did for him wasn’t enough! how could it be? how could i be?— how could i even ask for love? how dared i believe i could actually be happy?” you continued, sadly chuckling. “how could i actually believe someone like elijah could ever loved me? i must have been insane.” you laughed, the back of your hands wiping away your falling tears. klaus bit his lip in anger.
“do you actually believe that, y/n?” klaus asked, his hands still resting on your soft cheeks. you nodded, whilst offering him a small, heartbreaking smile.
klaus felt his heart sank. he couldn’t allow this. he could not allow the love of his life to degrade herself this much. he couldn’t stand it. his eyes had watered as he heard you speak so low of yourself. you weren’t allowed to.
slowly but surely, klaus placed his soft lips on top of yours, kissing you in the most sweeter and kinder way possible. you were taken back by his actions, but kissed him back regardless. his lips were sweet, and so incredibly soft. klaus kissed you gently, offering you place to pull away from his kiss, yet you never did. the kiss was somewhat short, but filled with so much love and affection, that you could feel it in your bones.
“please don’t speak so ill of the woman i love. i will not allow it.” klaus whispered, you felt his breath by your lips. you opened your eyes to stare into his gorgeous hazel eyes. you opened your mouth to speak, yet klaus spoke before you.
“why don’t you get some rest, love? we may talk again in the morning if you desire to.” klaus said, talking off his seat belt and soon helping you out of the car. you were star struck, absolutely speechless by what had just happened. but you only knew one thing.
klaus mikaelson loved you.

‘Ladies and Gentlemen, look who my eyes just spied.’ The singer announced, her glistening eyes under the spotlight finding you as soon as you entered the Eden Club, guests turning their heads to see you beam from above the dancefloor. ‘Miss Renée, save me a dance.’
‘I always do, Etta.’ You gave her a grin, taking the stairs to the dance level, greeting people as you made your way towards the bar. Men reaching out to engulf your gloved hands, women’s arms trying to claw you to themselves as your presence was greatly felt whenever you entered any club.
Being around you was enough for most people. Everyone in London knew your name and your favourite drink you would order whenever you were spotted at a party. Every individual trying to win the favour of the city's most popular uptown girl. Many greetings came your way. Men, women, old and young, each ‘Hello’ and ‘Honour to meet you’ as sweet as the ones before.
Finishing your greetings for the greater part of the evening you headed towards the bar, your dear friend Hattie already sipping her second Gin Rickey, waiting for you to finally spend the night together.
‘Hattie!’ You called out, raising your arms with a cheerful smile as Hattie turned around, her frowny look disappearing as soon as she set eyes on you. Standing up from her seat to hug you, you briefly saw a man’s eyes on you, awkwardly closing yours as you swayed back and forth with Hattie in your arms.
When you let go of her, you occupied the stool next to her. Ready to order your favourite drink to get the party started, ready to dance the night away.
‘You were bought a drink, Miss Renée.’ Charlie the bartender slid over a sidecar, your favourite.
‘By whom?’
‘Niklaus Mikaelson.’ He replied, gathering dirty glasses and polishing them off to reuse them throughout the night. ‘Like you, he’s made quite the name for himself in the city. And from what I can tell he’s been eyeing you ever since you stepped foot into this club and he is handsome. He’s in booth five.’
‘Oh stop drooling would you!’ You playfully hit his upper shoulder.
You slowly turned your head over your shoulder, feeling his gaze from the booth Charlie said he was. Your eyes met his as you took in his features: dirty blonde hair brushed back; nice eyes, their colour tucked away by the dim club lighting; but his lips looked soft as butter, his smirk making you feel like you had one too many drinks. Niklaus Mikaelson lifted his champagne glass with a smirk, cheersing you through the air as his eyes seemed to have already undressed you. You grabbed the drink and cheered him back, letting the cold alcohol burn the back of your throat as your eyes trailed along his body, curious to see what he hid underneath the nice suit; perfectly cut, shoulder pads sharp enough to let the confidence smoothly drip off of him.
Your eyes saw that he was very much handsome; but your eyes saw the trouble that came with him. Why else would he look at you like he could have you with the snap of his finger? Much of arrogance. You grabbed the glass Charlie had slid over, barely lifting it into the air, a subtle nod letting him know that you appreciated the gift in the form of a drink, your parchiness coating your tongue.
‘Let us dance!’ Hattie hurryingly gulped the last of her drink, fetching your hand to pull you out of the stool, your drink staying behind.
The dance floor was crowded. Suits and dresses, glitter and shimmer, dancers and stiff competition. Smiles across the room as you and Hattie started dancing, making your way to the heart of the room, arms swaying, legs carrying you like feathers. The music pulsated through your veins. Etta’s smooth yet powerful voice making people forget their hardships in life, only the feeling of alcohol, smoke and a good dance on their minds. Ready to embrace the undoubtedly painful throbbing the next day. The sound of music was great but an awful sound from up the booths caused a nagging noise that made enjoying Etta’s tune hardly amusing.
Looking back you saw the man that bought you your drink engaged in fits of laughter and deafening talk with another man and woman. Both cooped up on one side of the booth, his arm lazily drooped over her back, their combined musing striking one too many nerves.
‘I’ll be right back, Hattie.’ You leaned in to convey her your message, Hattie not paying attention to you in the slightest. The waves of music controlled her.
Walking up the very stairs that were supposed to not be climbed until the very next morning, you found yourself hitting the wooden staircase harder than the step before. And before you could count to five you had already reached the table that seemed to have a rather good time ruining other people’s night.
‘Hello, sweetheart.’ Mr. Mikaelson greeted slyly, his eyes full of the pride he had shown off for the most part since you had arrived.
The other man and woman finally stopped gushing at each other, their eyes falling to you and Mr. Mikaelson, amused by the scene that took place in front of them.
‘Keep the noise to a minimum.’
‘I’m sorry, sweetheart. Are we too loud?’
‘Yes.’ You cocked your head, jestfully grinning at him as his smirk only seemed to grow. ‘Keep it down.’
‘Or what?’ The other man leaned forward, smooth American accent, his eyes carrying an empty soul that had long lost his sense of self. His date’s eyes smiling back at you. The same kind of satisfaction that Mr. Mikaelson carried himself.
You stared back at him, knowing that he was far gone unlike his friends. His demeanour telling as to how far he would go if this quarrel were to grow past unpleasant exchanges, demanding to be settled by rowdy fumes and accentuating the converse. ‘Back off, vampire.’
Several eyebrows raised, looks of surprise exchanged at the table as their smirks continued to be planted on their faces, only disappearing when their raised glasses were brought to their lips.
‘So you know about vampires then?’ Mr. Mikaelson said, only now noticing that their glasses were filled with bright red fluids and you knew for sure that those weren’t Bloody Marys. Well maybe that blood belonged to a Mary, so bloody Mary would be accurate and—moving on.
‘I’m not a half-wit, Mr. Mikaelson.’ You crossed your arms in front of your chest, rubbing your lips together, the soft feeling of your red lipstick providing you with a quick composition, shortly to which you lost all of it as soon as your lips parted. ‘-And if you are surprised that people know of vampires, may I suggest not to drink your conspicuous dinner at a club full of humans? It only takes one drunken fool to accuse you and is persuaded by his intoxicated head to start making a scene so I suggest you order a bottle of whiskey and gin, lower your level of conversation or join everyone on the dancefloor. You especially,’ you glanced at Mr. Mikaelson, ‘need to loosen up. Good evening.’ And with the turn of your heels you let your annoyance at the booth and rejoined the fun with Hattie as she immediately grabbed hold of you as soon as you appeared back under the lights.
You turned into Hattie’s arms, shortly being spun out as you fell into the arms of George Hannigan. Works at an industry just outside of the club. Comes here every Friday to forget the life he was living. George was one of the few men inside the establishment that truly knew what it meant to get loose and dance the night away. Your footsteps captivated people around you, letting the stage light shine above you as adrenaline pumped through your veins. Turning into George’s arms, he let you spin out again so that you were to rejoin Hattie, yet the frame you met was much more stiff than Hattie’s body. A suit instead of a dress, and a smirk instead of coral painted lips. The song changed to a slower tempo, the song calling for intimacy, something that couldn’t have been timed worse.
‘What are you doing?’
‘Loosening up, darling. Now…threatening a vampire,’ he said as you placed your hand on his chest, rolling your eyes. Hoping that no one could see just how off putting the dance made you feel. ‘Not your smartest move. Pun intended.’
‘Do you know who I am?’
‘Yes,’ Mr. Mikaelson said, letting his body move to the sound of music, so gently it felt like you were floating.
‘Then you will know that everyone in this club knows me and would gladly help me get rid of you.‘
‘Do you like all the attention you get?’
‘I suppose I do.’
‘Suppose?’
‘I never really had a choice,’ your lips rubbed against each other, you patience starting to crumble the more you appreciated his dancing. ‘Just like I hadn’t consented to this pervasive dancing with you.’ You tried to free yourself from him but with the pull of your hand you were right back where you were seconds ago.
‘You know,’ the air of his whisper sent a chill down your spine, hoping that he wasn’t able to tell that you tried not to heat up. ‘I could easily compel you to take a knife and stab yourself. The more snarky remarks you let out the more my patience for kindness starts to burn out.’
‘Nice try,’ you gave him a grin. ‘Compulsion won’t work I fear. However I would much rather take the knife and plunge it into your chest cavity…You won’t die but just seeing the blood seep through your shirt will be enough to satisfy me.’
‘What do you mean compulsion doesn’t work? You are human.’
‘Call it a lucky gene.’ You smiled up at him, still swaying across the dancefloor as Etta hinted no reason to change up the tune anytime soon.
‘Well isn’t it just my lucky day that London’s most beautiful woman can literally resist my charm,’
‘Luckily I can see that your conceitedness is encased with the charm you so claim to possess, when the only thing that my eyes are able to pick up is a man with bad manners, who should’ve paid more attention to his parents growing up (ouch). Now if you will excuse me once again, nicely this time; please keep the disturbance to a minimum that we can all enjoy tonight.’
Escaping to the bar you hoped that you were going to get rid of him at last yet a familiar scent on your trail did not sway from your nose. The smell following you until you sat back down at Charlie’s bar stool, Charlie’s eyes somewhat telling you what you already knew.
‘At least let me buy you a drink?’ He talked to your back, his tone very clear that he liked whatever he was doing.
‘You already did.’ You held up the drink Charlie had kept behind the bar until you returned, the ice not so cold anymore but the alcohol doing exactly what you needed it to do.
‘That was a mysterious buyer. Now you know me. Let me redo the favour.’
‘Fine,’ you sighed. ‘If I let you buy me this drink will you stop nagging me?’
‘I buy you a drink and we will converse until you have finished.’
‘I’ll just gulp it down then.’
‘Not allowed.’
‘Fine.’ Rolling your eyes you turned to Charlie. ‘Charlie, a sidecar on Mr. Mikaelson’s tab please.’
Charlie set down the drink with an amused smile, enjoying the sight of you and Mr. Mikaelson too much. ‘Clock’s ticking.’ You took a sip, thankful that your drink was cold again.
‘Tell me about yourself.’
You choked on your drink, suppressing a laugh. ‘What?’ He cannot be serious.
‘Why not?’ He ogled you. ‘Don’t tell me the popular girl finds it hard to talk about herself.’
‘I don’t find it hard.’
‘Then tell me.’
So you did. You told him your name, your age, what food you liked and which you detested. What you like to do in your free time and if you could live forever would you. You told him that his intimidating nature wouldn’t scare you—Miss Renée and her list of things she’s afraid of is nonexistent.
You started to not mind his company too much. When he wasn’t being annoying he was listening to what you said and his jestful answers made it difficult not to crack a smile. Mr. Mikaelson talked about himself and what he was in London for. He was about to open his mouth when something loud interrupted him. The sound of bullets filled the club; screams and people running made your heart beat faster. Another round of bullets were fired at the bar and with teary eyes, Klaus Mikaelson used his vampire speed to bring you behind the bar. Hoping that you were safe from the bullets.
‘What’s happening?’ Your voice shook as you barely managed to squeeze the words past your throat. Clinging onto his jacket as you placed your head near his chest.
‘I thought there was nothing that could scare you, dear?’
‘I lied.’
‘You would be a half-wit if you weren’t afraid of him,’
‘Of who?’
‘Look me in the eyes.’
‘I can’t be compelled.’
‘I know. You need to listen to me. You need to forget that we ever met. When someone asks you if you have seen me, you need to deny it.’
‘Why?’
‘Because you have to! Please, I swear I’ll keep the noise to a minimum if you do…’
‘Okay,’
‘Okay. It was lovely to meet you. Hopefully we’ll meet each other again under different circumstances.’
‘Nice to meet you, Niklaus Mikaelson.’
‘Miss Renée…’ He bowed his head and with a blink of the eyes he was gone.
You knew that you would think back on this specific night more than just a few times.

Despondently, you stand on the balcony of the Mikaelson residence, looking out at the lightly illuminated forest before you. Morosely sipping on the champagne in your hand, you wonder how you had gotten to feel so foolish this evening. Had you read too much into the flirtatious rapport you and Klaus maintained?
When he invited you to his family’s ball, you thought it was his way of finally asking you on a date after months spent charming you, but you are beginning to see that was an erroneous assumption. The Mikaelson had not spared one glance at you all evening, instead devoting all of his attention to a young blonde you now have an unfair disdain for.
While there is clearly a significant class distinction between you and his family, was it preposterous to assume that the continual late-night visits and luxurious gifts he bestowed you with symbolized more than the bonding between friends? Perhaps it truly is just custom to the upper echelon. Finishing off your glass, you contemplate if you should just go home early and save yourself from any further embarrassment.
“Not much of a party person are you, darling?”
You spin around, startled by the sudden intrusion– hand clutching at your chest, willing your frantically beating heart to calm. “You scared me,” you announce to the interloper, relief filling you as you take in the sight of a handsome brunet– his dark eyes alight with mischief. The corners of his lips lift into a wicked grin, sending a rush of excitement to your abdomen. “My apologies,” he states, kissing the knuckles of your hand, “I don’t believe we’ve met. Kol Mikaelson.”
Your eyes widen at the revelation of his name, recognizing him to be one of Klaus’s many siblings. “Might I add, you look radiant tonight,” the Mikaelson continues with a charismatic smile, his eyes devouring every inch of your body. A light blush paints your cheeks. At least someone noticed.
“Thank you. I see you’re just as charming as your brother.”
The brunet frowns at your statement and you realize he must not know the connection. “I’m Y/N, Klaus’s friend,” you introduce yourself– the word tugging at the seams of your heart. You despise how reckless you were, taking the hybrid’s flirty nature to heart, especially now seeing how flirtatious his brother is. It is clearly within the nature of the family to be so winsome and you fell for it, developing feelings that will be nearly impossible to get over. Your propensity to fall in love too easily has yet again damned you to heavy heartache.
“Ah, so you’re the pretty little thing that has captured my brother’s attention,” Kol acknowledges, causing a bitter chuckle to fall from your lips.
“No, I am afraid that position belongs to someone else,” you inform the younger Mikaelson, his brows drawing in confusion. You don’t allow him much time to ponder as you begin moving towards the inside of the manor, announcing your departure as you have opted not to torture yourself any longer.
“Wait,” the vampire stops you, grabbing at your wrist, “Stay. At least allow me a dance.”
You contemplate his offer, not wanting to linger around the manor any longer, but also having dedicated so much time to prep yourself for the ball, it would be a shame to let most of that effort go to waste. Besides, when is the next time you would have the opportunity to attend such a glamorous event? Reluctantly, you agree to Kol’s proposal, emphasizing you were staying for a singular dance.
The Mikaelson smiles devilishly at you, “Perfect.” He offers out his arm and you accept it, allowing him to lead you into the grand room where he tells you to wait for him at the bottom of the steps.
A voice rings out from the stairs you just descended, garnering the attention of Mikaelsons’ guests. You watch the family gather on the beautifully decorated stairway, awed by their beauty. Each member had their own unique allure that demanded your attention– none more so than that of Niklaus Mikaelson. The suit– perfectly tailored to accentuate his physical build– was a sharp contrast to the typical Henley and jeans you see the Mikaelson wear. His mussed curls were brushed back highlighting the delicate beauty of his face. His physicality combined with the effortless, smug way he carried himself had you wanting to swoon. Your envy of the blonde deepens as your heart aches, longing for nothing more than to be by his side.
As if feeling your desire, for the first time this evening, Klaus’s gaze flits to yours and the hybrid is left mystified. He always thought you a true beauty, but to see it accentuated so magnificently left him speechless. His eyes linger, longer than he intended as he takes in the sight of you, hoping to burn the image in his mind. Pride swells in his chest as he takes note of the silver pendant dangling from your neck– the one he gave you a week ago. One of his most valued treasures.
You feel vulnerable under the intensity of his gaze, tearing your eyes away as the emotion swarming in you becomes too much to handle. You find Kol whose gaze is already waiting for you. He sends you a perilous wink, provoking his older brother’s ill temper.
“Welcome. Thank you for joining us,” the Mikaelson sibling announces to his guests for the evening, commanding the grand room.
“You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it’s tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance.”
Unknowingly, your eyes drift back to Klaus, watching as he stands with his family in all of his grandeur. Visibly distinct from his siblings as his neck is adorned in white rather than the typical black bowtie of his siblings– a symbol of just how exceptional he is.
"Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom."
The room erupts with excited chatter as you stifle a groan. Your luck would have it that the one dance you agree to is a centuries-old waltz you have never performed before. Is it not bad enough that you have to deal with the self-humiliation of misreading all of Klaus’s advances, but now you will have to face an additional layer of public humiliation?
Kol is quick to meet you at the bottom of the stairs, as promised, holding his arm out for you. Reluctantly, you wrap your arm around his, confessing your inexperience as he leads you into the grandiose ballroom, lining up with the other dancers. “Don’t worry, darling. Follow my lead and you will be fine,” he reassures, smiling down at you with that devilish grin– oddly bringing you comfort.
The gentle strumming of a guitar begins as the two of you walk forward in time with the music– hands crossed in front of each other’s. Following Kol’s lead, you take another step forward, turning to face the line opposite of you. Sneaking a glance at the Mikaelson you love, you are alarmed by the animosity in his leer. You instinctively draw yourself closer to the younger Mikaelson as if his presence could protect you from Klaus’s enmity. Curious by your sudden action, Kol follows your gaze, finding the malevolent glare of his older brother– a devious grin plastering his face.
Due to the irksome rule his mother set in place of keeping peace with the people of Mystic Falls, Kol has been forced to find his amusement in other ways, like using his brother’s new plaything to make the hybrid jealous. His goal is to see how long his brother will allow him to seduce you before he snaps and causes a scene. He knows he’s playing a dangerous game, but Kol has always been enticed by danger.
A gasp escapes your lips as you are unexpectedly spun by the brunet– unprepared for the sudden movement. “Relax, darling,” Kol whispers in your ear, taking note of how stiff you are. You breathe deeply, letting the breath settle all of your nerves as you slowly give your trust over to the vampire. As instructed, you follow Kol’s lead allowing him to waltz you in a circle, traveling around the ballroom. You are quick to realize that the steps of the waltz are quite repetitive and, after a while, take no effort for you to enact. All the while, whispers of jokes and compliments have you truly relax in the Mikaelson’s arms as you giggle at his antics.
From across the room, Klaus surveys the two of you lividly. The one thing he asked of his siblings tonight was to leave you alone, and yet, there his brother was twirling you around the ballroom. He knows Kol is doing this to anger him, but he can’t help satisfying his brother’s childish urge to incense him when he watches how close the two of you are becoming. That same dazzling smile you greet him with every night is now being given to his infernal younger brother. That captivating laugh that softened the hardest parts of him was now in response to his pestilent younger brother. Those decadent curves he’s been waiting to run his hands over were now being held by his soon-to-be-dead younger brother. The hybrid begrudgingly tears his eyes away from the scene, knowing that if he does not distract himself soon, a spectacle will be made. So, he returns his attention to the blonde vampire in his arms and continues to charm her as all part of his master plan.
As you continue the steps, Kol leans in to whisper in your ear once more. Instead of the humorous observation you were expecting, he tells you, “This is the part where I leave you.”
You are not allowed time to react before you are spun out of the vampire’s arms into those of another Mikaelson sibling. As soon as the older Mikaelson’s arm wraps around you, you continue the repetitive steps, traveling in the opposite direction.
“You must be Y/N,” he speaks and you provide a nod of confirmation. “And you are?” you ask of the vampire– unsure of which Mikaelson brother you are speaking with now.
“Forgive me. I assumed with how special you are to Niklaus he would have informed you about the rest of his family. I am Elijah.”
An uncontained scoff exits your lips and the Original questions his previous statement, “Did I say something wrong?”
“It’s just that you’re the second sibling to say that to me, and yet, Klaus has not spoken to me all night.”
Elijah’s lips purse at the statement– curious as to why his brother neglected you when he made it very clear you were to remain off limits due to your status in his life. He is even more perplexed when he takes note of the pendant on your neck– a highly valuable item his brother accrued. Klaus swore that pendant would only grace the neck of the woman he deemed exemplary enough to wear it.
Nothing else of substance is exchanged between you and Elijah and the dance soon draws to an end. Bowing as you depart, Kol is by your side in an instant– arm being placed delicately on your shoulder.
“You are playing a dangerous game, Kol,” Elijah forewarns his younger brother, doing nothing to dissuade the mischievous Mikaelson.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, brother. I’m just keeping Y/N company.”
Kol takes your arm, leading you away from his sibling and the rest of the ball. Unseen by you as you walk towards the front of the manor, Kol passes by the infuriated hybrid, taunting him with a wink. The seemingly trivial action pushes Klaus over the edge, having him lurch toward his treacherous brother– ready to tear out his liver. Fortunately for the younger Mikaelson, Finn had already anticipated his ill-tempered brother’s reaction and put a stop to any harm that would be done to Kol.
“You didn’t have to walk me to my car, Kol. Thank you,” you state to the vampire once you reach the old Camry that has been with you since your high school graduation.
“Mother would be furious if she found out I let a lady walk to her car alone.”
You smile up at the Mikaelson brother who kept you company for the duration of your evening. Thankful to him for unknowingly saving you from your own humiliation, you give the brunet a quick peck on the cheek, sending a streak of envy through the lurking hybrid waiting to have a moment alone with you.
“Well, tell your mother she throws a lovely ball. And thank you for the dance, it turned out to be quite nice.”
The two of you part ways– Kol leaving a final kiss on your knuckles. You rummage through the small purse you brought with you, looking for your keys, when a new voice calls out to you– one you ironically dread to hear.
“Leaving so soon? And without a goodbye.”
You turn to face Klaus, a dashing smile on his face, eyes shining with innocence as if he had done nothing wrong. “Saying goodbye implies that we even said hello in the first place,” you tell the hybrid rather bitterly, returning your attention to the retrieval of your keys.
“You’re mad at me,” he informs you as if you couldn’t figure out your own emotions. You don’t dignify him with a response, grabbing your keys and attempting to get in your car. “Come on, love. Talk to me,” Klaus pushes, further stoking your irritation with him.
“Oh, you mean like how you talked to me this evening after you were the one who invited me. Forgive me if I’m not overjoyed to see you after having been ignored,” you hiss at the Mikaelson. While you are aware you can’t fault him for your own romantic presumption, you can be angry that he invited you to an event and refused to speak. Klaus’s nostrils flare. How dare you be angry with him after you spent the evening romancing with his brother.
“Well, maybe if you weren’t so preoccupied fawning over my brother, I would have had the opportunity.” A humorless laugh leaves your lips.
“Me? Fawning? If anyone was doing any fawning tonight, it would be you with your pretty blonde date. Kol was there keeping me company while you were off galavanting with her, so don’t even try to make me out to be the villain. The only reason I even came here tonight was because you invited me. Had I known I was gonna end up being pawned off to your brother I would have stayed home! I thought this was a date, Klaus. I thought you were inviting me to be your date to the ball. Clearly, I was mistaken, so you do not get to play the victim here.”
Klaus does nothing but stare– the two of you too furious to have a productive conversation. You shake your head in incredulity at his behavior, having nothing left to say, and get into your car. How dare he be angry with you? And for what, dancing with his brother? He certainly lacked any intention of dancing with you himself. What did he expect? For you to show up and decorate the walls with your presence. The audacity of that man. You continue your rage as you drive back to your home, only relaxing once you feel the stream of hot water on your skin.
You exit your bathroom, towel wrapped tightly around your body as you shiver from the sharp temperature change. The warmth that encased you from your steamy shower becoming replaced by the chilly air of your drafty bedroom. You look towards your open bedroom window as a gust of cold air breezes by you– eyes rolling in annoyance. Typically, you leave your window open so Klaus can come in for his nightly visits, but you are in no mood to speak to the infuriating hybrid. You doubt he’ll be dropping by this evening anyway.
“Was that meant to keep me out, love?”
A frightened gasp escapes you as you quickly turn around, meeting a pair of familiar blue eyes. “You know, just because you’re a vampire and can move in silence, doesn’t mean you have to,” you scold the hybrid standing in your bedroom– back in his typical Henley and jeans. Your hand rests over your heart, willing it to recover from the scare.
He chuckles, amused by the oblivion of humans, “Ah, mortals. I forget how frightful you lot can be.” You roll your eyes at the Mikaelson, ignoring his apathetic statement. “What do you want, Klaus,” you harshly demand, tugging the towel closer to your body. He sighs, annoyed by your loitering emotions, “We’re still angry I see.”
“I am really not in the mood for this, so if you could kindly leave my house, that would be greatly appreciated.”
You turn your back on the hybrid, moving toward your dresser, hoping that he will be gone by the time you turn back around.
“I came here to apologize, love,” the Mikaelson admits, stilling your movements. If there was one thing you learned about Niklaus Mikaelson through all of the stories he shared, it was that he NEVER apologizes. “What,” you question, turning to face the hybrid, uncertain you heard him correctly.
“I’ve recently had a bit of a heart-to-heart and I realize that you are right.”
You sink to the foot of your bed– your brain having trouble processing the information it is being presented. “Okay,” you breathe, unsure of what else to say.
“I fancy you, Y/N.”
“Then why-”
“Caroline is just a mere distraction,” Klaus responds, having anticipated your next question, “You don’t live to be a thousand years old without acquiring a few enemies over the years. If anyone were to discover my feelings for you, they would use you as leverage. By devoting my attention to Caroline, she becomes the target while you remain safe. She means absolutely nothing to me.”
Silence hovers between the two of you as you analyze the gravity of this new information. All those nights you spent exchanging stories and laughing until sunrise were just as equally treasured by Klaus as by you. The flowers, the drawings, the jewelry, the little moments of silence, and the shared moments of vulnerability all were valued, all were cherished just as fondly. Your bond with the Original Hybrid had not been imagined, had not been one-sided. A smile graces your lips at this revelation. He cared for you– enough to put someone else’s life at risk. To parade around feigning love for someone so that you remained unharmed. Not only did that seem unfair to the girl, Caroline, but ironically idiotic for one of the most intelligent men you knew.
“Klaus, this has to be one of the stupidest things you have ever done,” you chuckle at the hybrid’s plan, “Rather than just confess your feelings for me, you opt to pretend to be in love with someone else so that I’m safe? You couldn’t have thought that would work.”
He frowns at your laughter– not expecting the conversation to go this way. In fact, this whole evening went rather unexpectedly for the Mikaelson. He had envisioned how the night was supposed to go, all everyone had to do was act accordingly. Now he is beginning to see not everyone is a pawn he can so easily move around.
“Yes, well, I had your safety in mind. The details were irrelevant.”
Your laughter echoes around the confines of your bedroom amused by his poor plan conceptualization. Klaus would be irritated by your laughter had it not become something he is obsessed with. And while you may think of his plan as silly and moronic, he knows how successful it was at keeping you safe, and that is all that mattered to him.
“I’m glad that you’re amused, love. May I be forgiven now?”
You smile up at Klaus unable to resist the charm of that smile. Walking towards the hybrid– the man that you adore– you bring your lips to his, finally fulfilling all of your fantasies. “I’ll consider that a yes,” the Mikaelson chuckles as you break away from the long-anticipated kiss.
"Put me through that again and I'll ram a stake so far up your-"
"Noted, love."

Soulmates?
Klaus x human(later vamp)reader
Tumblr media
Centuries ago Niklaus Mikaelson had been told that one day he would meet his soulmate, he was told that she is real, that she would never hurt him, that she would be perfect for him and would love him forever. Niklaus never truly believed in love so when he heard about a soulmate that he would someday meet he told everyone off, love is a vampire's greatest weakness is what he had believed for centuries, even if he did indeed fall for her she would be seen as his weakness and used to get to him, so he pushed every hope he of finding and being with her even deeper inside of him, he told himself that he would be better off without her and as the years passed he believed it.
When Niklaus came to Mistic Falls he learned information from Kathrine Pierce about the doppelganger and her friends, he learned that she was closest to some girls called Bonnie,Caroline and Y/n, that she had the protection of the Salvatores, he thought that since he knew a lot about the doppelganger's life and was in Alaric's body he had the upper hand, he thought he couldn't be surprised.
So being ready to fool the doppelganger and her gang he went to school as Alaric saltzman, he entered the classroom sitting on the teachers desk, asking a student on the front what was the lesson they had done last, just before his world crashed. The doppelganger entered the classroom with his soulmate by her side, his soulmate was real, her face that he had seen in his sleep so many times, the face he had tried to forget and get out of his head for centuries, he could see her in front of him, she was even more beautiful up close. Y/n turned towards Alaric/Klaus "sorry we're late Ric-I mean Mr Saltzman" and he heard her angelic voice for the first time, he was so lost in her e/c eyes that he had almost forgot to answer. He shook his head to clear his thoughts "it's alright girls, you may sit" and so the lesson went on.
Klaus avoided her until he would decide on a way to deal with her, he got out of Alaric's body and did the ritual without knowing about Elena being alive. He collected Stefan and he was almost ready to leave there was one last thing he needed to do last. He thought that it would be better if he could make Y/n fear him, she wouldn't bother him, she wouldn't hurt him, after all he was a monster and couldn't be loved, although deep down he knew he was about to probably make the biggest mistake of his life, but chose to push the feeling away, after all it was for the better.
And so he waited until the sun set down knowing she would go out, when she got out of her house for her daily walk he pushed her in a near by alley. He heard her heartbeat increase, but it came back to normal when she saw him, why wasn't she afraid of him "Klaus are you alright?" She asked him with worry, why does she care about him she doesn't even know him, she is a good person "Do you need help?" She just had to make this even more difficult, he thought to him self, but it had to be done.
Klaus grabbed her by her throat and slammed her against a near by wall, chocking her, her heartbeat was racing again, he suddenly felt guilty and for a second his hand almost let go of her, but he had to continue, she would only hurt him. And so his grip became ever tighter, cutting all her air supply, her face turned red, tears were running down her face, her eyes filled with fear and tears "You will stay away from me, you will not EVER come near me or I'll kill you, you won't even see another day on this earth if you see me and don't run. This is your one and only warning. Am I understood?" She nodded with all the strength she had left. He let go just before she would die, she crawled backwards holding her throat and gasping for air. And just like that he was done and vamp-speed away from her.
Klaus left with Stefan to make hybrids, the way she looked that night will be forever staying in his mind reminding that it is his fault that she was in that state. Y/n went to her house that night but she was scarred for life, what if he came back to finish what he started when she was was asleep, she was mess and so she called Damon, her best friend.
Damon was really worried from her tone and rushed towards her house as fast as possible, he could hear sobs from outside her house, he got in and run to her room. As soon as he saw her with a bruised neck and tears he wanted to kill whoever did this to her. He got in bed with her and calmed her down, after she was calm she explained everything that happened to Damon and he was furious.
Since she was feeling so unsafe on her own Damon took her with him to stay at the Salvatore house, it hurt him to see and hear her screaming seeing Klaus killing her in her sleep. Y/n couldn't go back to her life, she was too scared to and she needed to be able to protect herself, so she asked Damon to turned her, he didn't agree at first but eventually she got him to do it.
Little by little Y/n was becoming her self again, she was happy, until the high school prank day, she was excited about it and when she came to the gym after gluing Alaric's desk, she opened the doors only to meet Klaus Mikaelson and Tyler with hybrid eyes. She tried to run but was soon caught by Klaus who took her inside.
Throughout the summer Klaus had been thinking about her, he had been trying to push the guilt aside but it was nearly impossible, he was seeing her in his dreams she was scared of him and telling him that she hates him. He would wake up in the middle of the night screaming her name. He had visited a lot of witches and all assured him that she would never hurt him, but after what he did they were not sure if she would ever want to be with him. He even asked a witch to show him their life if he had not done that and after seeing that, he knew he had given up his only chance of having everything he ever wanted. He just kept thinking of her more and more and one day he felt a pain that he had not felt in his entire his entire life, it felt like dying all over again.
When he saw her infront of him after all this time she felt relieved but then he saw the look on her face, she was terrified of him, she tried to run but he grabbed her and pulled her inside the gym, the moment he let go she rushed towards Damon, hugging him . It hurt him to see that, but what bothered him the most was that she was turned and he didn't even know and then it hit him, the pain he felt during the summer was when she died in order to turn.
Klaus took Tyler and left the school. He wasn't going to leave this time and he wasn't going to push his feelings and fate away, he was going to make it up to her, however long it takes. And so he stayed at a hotel and the first thing he did in the morning was was sending some of his trusted minions to find a werewolf pack and take it to him, while he had people build him a home in which he wished to share a bed with her, he would live with her and spend the rest of his life with her.
Y/n had gone back to her house a month ago changing the doors and putting cameras around the house to making more secure, but it didn't help to keep the one person she didn't want to get in out of her house. When Y/n went home she felt that strange safe feeling she used to feel with Klaus before their "incident" she climbed up the stairs and opened the door to her room, only to meet Klaus sitting on her bed. She panicked "No,no,no You can't be in here" she said walking backwards out of her room, she almost fell off the stairs but Klaus caught her, he picked her up and gently set her down on her bed. As soon as she was out of his hold she moved away from him "I did as told I-I stayed away from you" she said her eyes filled with tears but she wouldn't let them fall "I don't want to die" she said and a sob escaped her, heart arched and he hugged her tight "I won't hurt you ever again I give you my word" she continued to sob "you already did once... please let go" Klaus' eyes started to get glossy "No, I won't let go of you ever again... my love" she looked shocked "what did just you call me?" She couldn't understand why she felt butterflies, he smiled softly at her "My love" she laughed a little "you aren't allowed to call me that" he raised an eyebrow "I'm you're soulmate, I'm allowed to call you whatever I want" he smirked "we're not soulmates" she said in a stern voice "aren't we? We are soulmates, I was afraid people would use you to get to me, so I did what I do best. Push the people I love away, but I was wrong and I'm deeply sorry for everything" she looked at him with wide eyes, thinking "so what happens now?" She asked he licked his lips "I want to be with you, if you can find it in your heart to forgive me" he said, Y/n took a moment to think about it "I forgive you" he held her tighter and almost had his lips on hers but he was stopped by her fingers on his lips not letting him kiss her. "I thought you forgave me" he said confused and sad "I did but I need to go slow, I need time to heal" he nodded "will I be able to be near you while you heal" he said not having much hope, it was only normal to not want to be with him "of course you will, we will just fo slow" he could help but smile "just to be clear does slow mean no kisses?" He asked wanting to kiss her so bad "you may kiss me on the cheek for now" and so he did "it is getting pretty late" she said yawning "oh, yeah I should ...go?"he said half questioning "where will you be staying?" She asked wanting him to be comfortable "in a hotel" she sighed "You may take the couch" she said giving him a slight kiss on the cheek "Really?" He asked excited "yeah" he hugged her tight and after a while they both went to sleep, both feeling an inner peace now that they're together.

Should've Known
Tumblr media
When fate made them stumble across each other in an art shop, Y/n should've known that what was coming with Klaus couldn't be anything more than an affair because of her true identity. And yet when she fled town, Y/n hadn't expected the news of a grave mistake made by Klaus' own town to shatter her heart into so many pieces that she’d just let them lay.
Warnings - mentions of death, and a description of an intimate moment.
Word Count - 1.3k
I'm so sorry but here I am, serving you guys with another two part-er (I deeply apologise) Part two should be out withing two days and eeek I'm so excited to write it! Hope you all enjoy this one until then <3
Tumblr media
This was the second time that their eyes had locked since Y/n had entered the shop, and their mouths instinctively shared a smile once again. Klaus quite simply couldn’t stop looking at her, she was so mesmerising that he wished she didn’t keep catching him every time his eyes would drift onto her to drink in her dreamy sight.
Her hair was half up and half down, intricate patterns designed like a labyrinth with the sinister intent to hypnotise the one looking, which Klaus very easily was. His eyes trailed down further and met with her eyes, only they were looking down at something while a small frown sat between her brows. Her nose led him lower and then his gaze landed on her mouth, on her lips that looked so pillowy and compelling, their corners lifting up in a smile making Klaus lift up his eyes with a defeated smile that gave away his realisation that he’d been caught staring again.
She shook her head, a soft laugh escaping her mouth before she went over to the elderly man to pay him for the art supplies she’d collected. She was a piece of art herself, Klaus thought as he saw her leaving but not before passing him a last smile.
He came back to that art shop more and more frequently then, hoping to see her there but returned home every single time with disappointment weighing his heart lower and lower into his stomach. He just wished to see her again, and again, and again. She was all that was on his mind and with her portrait beginning to lose colour in his memory, he was pathetically desperate to see her again.
But as he went inside the shop again for the insurmountable time, Klaus’ nose caught a scent that immediately made his eyes light up. This was her fragrance and  once his gaze had lifted, it immediately landed on her already looking and very gently waving at him.
Klaus smiled at that, focusing his attention on the floor for a bit as he tried to hide his blush and giddiness at finally seeing her again. She looked the same, if not even more alluring because of the green coloured clothing she was dressed in, the colour fading into different shades as her dress poofed and flowed down to meet the ground.
He nodded at her, his smile not once leaving his mouth as he picked up a set of paint brushes to buy along with a paint set of which the colours fit her appearance the most – which had him staring at her again and again to make sure he wouldn’t mess up any hue. On the other end, Y/n picked a sketchbook and a set of pencils before going back to the front to pay for it.
Klaus came out soon after her, watching as she paid and left the shop. Klaus hurried to pay for his stuff as well, rushing outside to not miss her, only to find her standing there, waiting for him with the slyest of smiles he’d ever seen.
As if their eyes had spoken for a brief moment, Klaus’ feet began following hers down the dirt trail that led to a large field bordering a shimmering river. Neither of them uttered a single word on the way, only Y/n glancing back every once in a while to make sure Klaus was still with her.
It was when Y/n sat herself down by the river when she looked up at him and patted the spot beside her, “come sit,” she added, her voice so soft that Klaus instantly obliged.
“I’d like to get to know you,” she said, looking him in the eyes with the purest of looks. “Tell me, do you paint as well?”
Klaus looked ahead of him, a smile stretching his lips as he nodded. “Yes,” he whispered, as if maintaining the peace they had surrounding them. “I don’t think I would survive if I ever stopped,” continuing, he looked back at her only to find her beginning a sketch.
But that didn’t stop her from confabulating further with him. They talked until the sun had begun setting and Y/n suggested it best that they parted ways and reached home before it got entirely dark. She’d mirrored Klaus’ sad expression before she’d leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek, which had him profusely blushing.
“Meet me here again, if you decide that perhaps, I didn’t tire you so much of myself,” she’d laughed, allowing Klaus to pull her up from the ground and telling him that he should come if he wanted to see the sketch so badly, earning a laugh from him.
Since that day, they’d met up several other times to share long walks and steal sweet kisses from eachother. They had officially been meeting up for a fortnight when they shared a bed, his skin on hers without any barrier as they relished in eachother’s warmth erotically enough to make them lose their breaths.
Their meetups had admittedly been growing more and more frequent until that night, and from then on, they found themselves meeting everyday, doing everything and nothing away from all prying eyes.
But the prying eyes were slowly turning into suspicious gazes as the news about Vampires spread in the town and Klaus was growing more and more tense that they were going to take Y/n away from him and stake her, bringing anxiety into their relationship but she always managed to make him forget about his worries every time he met with her, which now happened after longer time periods because of the dark fate looming over them like dark clouds.
Long gone were the days spent down by the river, hidden in long grass or camouflaged among wildflowers. Now they met up under the blindness of the night sky, moonlight directing to them their paths to each other and Klaus would end up sobbing in her neck almost every single time while she mumbled sweet nothings into his ear, telling him that she’d forever stay with him in the sketchbooks he had filled up to the brims with her portraits.
On their last night together, she’d told him that she’d always be watching over him from the same dark sky that they were laying under and usher to him her stories through the winds. She’d kissed on every inch of his body, every muscle that flexed under her touch and every spot on his face, letting him kiss her lips until neither of them could breath and their mouths hurt. Until she’d come undone under him and he’d fallen on top of her with the faintest tears brimming on the rims of his eyes.
“I love you, Niklaus Mikaelson. I always have, and I always will,” she whispered and pressed her mouth against his to punctuate her promise. She couldn’t understand why she was so hurt – this was just an affair, something that couldn’t last forever because she was a vampire and her lover was a human.
She should’ve seen their paths diverging a long time ago, and yet, another tear slipped past her eyes and into her ear.
“Always and forever?” Klaus questioned her, his tears mixing with hers as he rested his forehead on hers. And when she nodded with the saddest and littlest smile on her mouth, Klaus knew it was time to go.
Y/n had stayed there a little longer,  reminiscing over her life before she sped out of town under everyone’s sniffing noses.
But on his walk home, Kaus had walked into an alley where the men with lit pitchforks lighting their sight had put their suspecting gazes on him, believing that he was one of the Vampires making one of them shoot him out of the sheer freight that Klaus might’ve drained them of blood if he didn’t act fast enough.
And when the news reached Y/n, she heard her dead heart shatter into so many pieces that she just decided to let them lay instead of picking them up piece by piece to put together an ugly heart that had its love taken from it.

“Lily!” Her sister ran up to her, hugging her as she stepped out of her car. “I’m so glad you decided to come shopping with me, we have lots to discuss.”
Lilianna hugged her sister back. “I don’t understand why we couldn’t discuss it on Saturday at family dinner, but whatever.” She locked her door then headed towards the mall, her sister walking beside her.
“Because, Lil. We have things to talk about that I don’t want mom to know.”
“Abigail, Jacob didn’t get you pregnant did he?”
Abigail laughed “No, no. Although I think he might be close to proposing. Oh he’s such a great guy.”
Lilianna rolled her eyes “Sure sure. So then what don't you want mom to know?”
Abigail stopped walking “I want to help you find happiness, It’s getting close to Valentine’s day and you need a boyfriend, someone that makes you as happy as Jacob makes me and I can set you up a dating profile-”
“Abi, stop. No, I don't need your help.”
“Look, you're my older sister Lily, I just think you need someone.”
“Well I have someone so you don’t need to butt in.” Lilianna quickly walked off into the building, heading to the nearest store.
Abigail caught up with her a few minutes later “What? You have a boyfriend, why haven’t you told us about him? Why haven’t we met him?”
Lilianna shrugged as she picked up a top to look at it “He’s busy, owns a bar and you always talk about Jacob.”
Abigail took the shirt from her sister, getting her attention “I insist you bring him to dinner Saturday.”
“Seriously Abi? That's family dinner, and it's short notice. My boyfriend is a busy business owner.”
Abigail shrugged and put the top away. “Yes, Saturday mom would be thrilled to meet your boyfriend and so would I, and if he loves you he will do it.”
“Fine, I’ll make it happen.”
Abigail smiled “Good, I will let mom know you have a plus one, oh this is going to be great.”
Lilianna nodded “Yup, great.”
Lilianna spent the rest of the shopping trip listening to her sister talk about the possibilities of double dates and plans that the couples could do but she was more focused on wondering where and how she was going to find a date for Saturday.
She didn’t feel great about lying to her sister, but she was tired of her meddling in her love life. Abigail meant well but she never picked out great guys and she wanted to meet someone on her own terms.
After she said her goodbyes to her sister she headed out to some bars, hoping one of the owners would help her out.
Lilianna sighed as she sat down at the last bar for the night, “Whiskey please.” most of the bars she had went to either the bosses weren’t there or they didn’t fit the picture she had in mind.
The bartender handed her the drink “rough night?”
“Yeah, you could say that” she wasn’t even going to bother asking about the owner at this place but after a moment she gave in “Hey, is the owner here?”
The bartender nodded “Both of them are, which one do you need?”
Both, great, probably a married couple. “Forget it.” she grabbed her wallet and stood, when she turned to leave she bumped into a guy. “I’m sorry.”
“No worries, I’m one of the owners, did you need something?”
The man was good looking, looked around her age and she noticed he didn’t have a wedding band. “Out of curiosity, who do you run this place with?”
The man chuckled “My brother, is that what you needed?”
“No, Uh.” She laughed nervously “do you have an office or somewhere private we could talk?”
“Sure, follow me.”
Lilianna followed him outside the bar and down an alley, part of her screamed it wasn’t worth it but she continued on.
He stopped and turned “This is the quietest place we will find in New Orleans tonight, at least until a drunk couple shows up.”
She nodded “Right, I’ll get to the point. I'm Lilianna and-” she sighed “I told my sister I was dating a bar owner so that she would quit meddling in my love life and now she wants me to bring my non-existent boyfriend to family dinner on Saturday.”
The guy laughed, “And you want me to be your boyfriend?”
“Just one night, and I will pay you, I have a thousand dollars saved up which probably isn’t much to you seeing as you own a bar.”
“Lilianna, I appreciate the offer but-” the guy paused “You know what? Yeah Saturday works for me. I'm Niklaus, but people call me Klaus.”
Lilianna smirked, “Can I call you Nik?”
“No. Now what time is dinner on Saturday?”
“Right, dinner is at six.” She pulled out a piece of paper from her purse and wrote down her number and the address. “Here’s my number and my moms address.”
Klaus smirked as he took the paper. “I’ll text you later, so we can come up with how we met and how long we’ve been dating, and I will see you saturday.” He placed the paper in his pocket then walked off.
She leaned against the wall for a moment, taking a breath. She got the date, and he was willing to work on a plan, all she needed to do was make sure everything went off without a hitch.
Tumblr media
Lilianna was staring at the clothes in her closet, wondering what outfit to wear. Usually she just wore shorts and a comfy t-shirt to her moms but this time she was showing up with a boyfriend.
After about ten minutes of staring she picked out some jeans and a cute crop top her sister had bought her, something she had never worn before. Once she got dressed she fixed her hair and did her makeup making sure to look nice and girlfriendish as her sister would put it.
As it got closer to time for him to pick her up she paced, wondering if he was even going to show. She had already sent him the money and was starting to regret it, thinking she should have waited until after the date.
Lilianna was about to get a drink from her fridge when there was a knock on her door, as she ran to answer it she stumbled and almost fell, catching herself on the small table that was by the door, she steadied her breath and opened the door. “Hey Klaus.”
“Everything ok? A lot of noise was going on.” Klaus smirked.
“Oh yeah, all good. Ready?”
He looked at her up and down “Yeah I’m ready, are you?”
She grabbed her small purse from the table and her keys. “Ready.”
Klaus opened the car door for her, “That's a really nice outfit, although you didn’t have to wear makeup.”
She smiled as she got in. “Thanks I don’t usually wear this kind of top, and no offense but all guys say you don't gotta wear makeup but we all know it makes us look better.”
Klaus laughed “Not all guys are like that.” he winked as she shut the door and went around.
When they got to her moms Abigail was standing on the porch, her boyfriend right beside her. She took a deep breath and stepped out. “Hey Abi, Hey Jacob.”
Jacob smiled, “Hey Lily.”
“Lily, tell your boyfriend to get out. No need to be shy.” Abigail smirked as she walked towards them.
When Klaus got out Abigail stopped dead in her tracks. “Woah, you didn’t tell me he was hot. Honestly Lil, I thought he was fake or ugly since you’ve been hiding him.”
Klaus laughed. “That’s my fault, I’ve been busy.”
Lilianna nodded “Like I told you, he’s a busy man.”
Abigail linked her arm with Lilianna “well let’s get inside so mom can see this hunk of a man you brought home.”
Once she stepped inside her mother hugged her “Lily, i’m so happy you made it- where’s your plus one?” Her mother looked until she spotted Klaus right outside the door smiling, “Oh my, it’s cold outside, hurry and come in.”
Klaus nodded and slowly stepped inside, closing the door behind him, then grabbing Lilianna’s  mother’s hand and kissing the back of it “thank you so much for allowing me to join your family dinner.”
“Oh my, aren’t you sweet. Lily, you got yourself a good one.” She smiled, “I’m Beth.”
“Lovely to meet you Beth, I’m Niklaus but you can call me Klaus.”
“Well let’s quit just standing around and head to the kitchen, James is going to love you.”
They all followed Beth to the kitchen, she sat down beside a man. Abigail and Jacob sat across from them and Lilianna sat beside her mom, leaving  the end spot open for Klaus.
“Klaus, this is James, Lily and Abi’s dad. James, Honey this is Klaus he’s Lily’s boyfriend.” Beth spoke once everyone was seated.
James looked at Klaus “Pleasure to meet you, so how did you and my daughter meet?”
Klaus took a drink of the water in front of him before speaking. “She came into my bar one night looking stunning and I felt like I had to talk to her. We sat down and talked for hours. I ended up asking her on a date and we’ve been together ever since.”
Abigail looked at Lilianna “Since when do you go to bars.”
Lilianna shrugged, “You keep buying me cute tops. I thought I’d wear them somewhere.”
Jacob rolled his eyes. “It’s hard to believe you’ve been dating for two months and we didn’t know about you until now.”
Klaus nodded “I understand, but Lilianna and myself wanted to keep things under wraps until we’ve been together longer.”
Beth shook her head “A shame, but I understand. Our Lily hasn’t had the best luck with men. Did you know she used to date Jacob?”
“Mom!” Abigail glared at Beth. “That isn’t something me or Lily like to talk about.”
“I actually did know that, and as I told your daughter she deserves someone that won't look at her sister that way.” Klaus smirked.
Abigail nervously chuckled “It wasn’t like that, I didn’t intentionally steal him” Lilianna rolled her eyes at that comment as Abigail continued on “It just happened.”
Klaus, noticing the eye roll, laughed “I’m sure, well that’s fine because you taking him from her allowed us to meet and I'm madly in love with her.”
Abigail smiled, “Good, then we should do a double date for Valentine’s.”
Lilianna hurried and finished the bite in her mouth “We can’t, he’s busy.”
“Oh come on, if he’s really in love with you he would miss work for an important holiday.” Abigail smirked as she took a drink.
Klaus put his hand on Lilianna’s knee and looked at Abigail.  “I had planned something alone for the two of us but I'm sure I can push it back a little for dinner with you and Jacob.”
Lilianna sighed, she didn’t have any more money to offer him. She looked at Klaus. “But love, I thought you were going to be busy?”
Klaus shrugged “I only told you that so you wouldn’t know I was planning something special.”
Abigail clapped, “Great, it’s settled, the four of us will do dinner on Valentines.”
“Greaaat, I can’t wait to spend Valentine's Day with my sister, her boyfriend and mine-” she downed the water and stood up “I’m tired mom, mind if me and Klaus head back?”
Beth stood and hugged her daughter “not at all, have a safe drive back.”
The drive back to her house was quiet, she didn’t say anything until he was parked in front of her building. “Wanna come in for some coffee?”
“Sure.” Klaus shut the car off and stepped out. “Just so you know you have to invite me in.”
“Uh, weird but okay.” Lilianna shrugged and unlocked her door. “Klaus, come on in.”
“Thank you, Lilianna.” He stepped inside as she headed towards the kitchen.
She stayed silent until she had the coffee pot going. “So uh I can’t pay you anymore money. I’ll just tell Abi I ended things.”
Klaus stepped closer to her. “Don’t worry  about the  money.”
“You mean you’d do it for free?” Lilianna started to smile.
Klaus smirked and closed the space between them, her back against the counter. “I didn’t say that.”
She gulped “Uh I’m sorry I won't pay with sex.”
Klaus laughed, sending chills down her back. “Oh pet, you can pay me in your blood.”
“I’m sorry what?” Lilianna started to panic “Are you some serial killer, a freak with a blood fetish? Oh my god, I'm going to die.”
She met Klaus’s eyes and small veins started to appear, as he flashed her his fangs. “You won’t die…. yet.”
“What-”
Klaus chuckled.“Always the same response from you humans, I like you. I find your bravery of hiring a stranger interesting and I will continue to be your boyfriend in exchange for blood.”
“If I say no?” Lilianna’s voice cracked.
“Then you die.” Klaus shrugged.
“All I do is give you some blood, and you go to family things with me as my boyfriend, but if I say no then you kill me?”
“Pretty much.” one of his hands wrapped around her waist, pulling her to him and moving some of her hair, exposing a side of her neck. “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt much.”
“N-not there” She sighed “If we do this you can't bite somewhere that it can be seen.Please.”
Klaus nodded “Then take off your shirt.”
Lilianna took a deep breath before moving her hands to the bottom of her shit “It won't hurt?”
“Not at all.”
She nodded and lifted her shirt above her head and let it drop to the floor, her heart racing as Klaus stared at her for a moment before digging his fangs right above her left breast, a moan escaping her lips.
The second she had moaned Klaus had her on the counter, her hands rested on the counter and her head leaned back as he fed. It was clear to her, to both of them she was enjoying it as much as he was.
When he pulled away she couldn’t help but let out a small sigh, causing Klaus to chuckle. She looked at him, blood - her blood was still on his lips. “So that’s it? Did you still want cof-”
Klaus kissed her, cutting her off. Her hands wrapped around him as they kissed, she wanted him and she had no clue why. She knew she should be terrified, vampires were real and she had found one- had made a deal with one. But all she wanted was for this man to take her right then.
He broke away from the kiss. “No, I don’t want coffee. I’ll see you on Valentine's day.” He winked and left.
Tumblr media
She stood in her bathroom looking in the mirror, she had her hair up nicely and found a pretty red dress for the date. She was putting in rose earrings when she heard a knock. She looked at her watch then grabbed her phone and purse then headed to the door, opening it. “You’re early.”
Klaus licked his lips, smirking “You look....delicious.”
Her heart raced and she could feel her face starting to flush. “Thanks. We should go.”
He stepped in, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her to him. “But I’m early, you said so yourself.”
“B-but my dress is thin strapped, and the back is open- I just don’t see how I could hide a bite mark.”
He pressed his lips to hers for a moment, just as she melted into it he pulled away. “Your thighs are covered.”
Before she could protest or come up with an excuse he picked her up effortlessly, walked into the kitchen and set her on the counter. She held in her breath as his hands moved her dress up and gripped her legs, moving them just enough. Her hands clutched the edge of the counter as he bit down on the inside of her right thigh.
Once again she couldn’t help but let out a moan, leaning her head back and relaxing. After a few minutes he stopped, licking the blood off his lips as he fixed her dress and helped her off the counter, allowing her to steady herself before letting go.
She kept quiet as she picked her phone and purse off the floor and headed out. Getting to his car, Klaus quickly opened her door once she was in he shut it and went around.
The car ride to the restaurant was quiet, she wasn’t sure what to say, it wasn't like she could have told him no or to stop, she had made a deal, and it wasn’t like she didn’t enjoy it. If she was being honest she didn’t even want to go out anymore, she wanted to be in her bed with him.
After Klaus parked the car he was out and getting to her door before she could unbuckle. “How does no one notice your speed?”
Klaus shrugged, “no one really pays attention.”
Her sister and Jacob were already at the table waiting, Abigail smiled and waved “Lil, Klaus!”
Klaus pulled her chair out for her and pushed it in before sitting next to her. “Sorry if we made you wait, Lilianna just looked too delicious.”
She felt her face getting hot, Abigail laughed “no worries, we like just got here. We haven’t even ordered drinks yet.”
Jacob nodded in agreement. “We were thinking of a red wine though.”
Klaus looked at Lilianna as he spoke “that would be fine.”
She stood up “excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom.” she rushed off, getting to the bathroom she looked in the mirror and took deep breaths.
When she stepped out she bumped into Jacob. “Hey Lily, can we talk?”
“I guess.”
“I don’t like Klaus, something is off about him”
She scoffed “oh that's rich coming from you, look I happen to love that man and you probably don’t like him because unlike you he’s a gentleman.”
Jacob sighed “I just hope you know what you’re doing.”
She walked past him, stopping a moment when she saw how close her sister had gotten to Klaus. She took a deep breath and continued on. “Abi, you’re in my seat.”
Abigail looked flustered and scooted over “I’m sorry, I was just getting to know your boyfriend.”
Klaus stood up “Actually, she started hitting on me the second Jacob left, I think we should go, Lilianna.”
Abigail chuckled nervously “It wasn’t serious Lily, I just wanted to make sure he wouldn’t hurt you. He passed the test.”
“He didn’t need to be tested Abi, and honestly I don’t believe you.” she grabbed Klaus’s hand “we’re going to go and do what Nikky originally had planned for us.”
When they got to the car he pinned her to the door, his hand around your throat. “If I told you not to call me Nik, what makes you think I’d allow Nikky.”
“I was just trying to be cute," she breathed.
He growled and let go of her neck, moving her aside and opening the door “Don’t do it again.”
She nodded and sat down. She was both scared and turned on by what had just happened. She sighed and looked out the window.
Once they were in her apartment she tossed her wallet and phone on the table and turned to him. “Okay get it over with.”
He stepped close to her, sliding a strap off her shoulder “you sure you want me to just get it over with?”
She wanted to say yes,so that he would leave and let her be alone. But she found herself undoing the zipper of her dress, staring at him as it dropped to the floor.
Tumblr media
He licked his bottom lip and picked her up, carrying her to the bedroom and laying her on the bed, kissing her hungrily as he groped her breast.
After a few seconds he broke the kiss and moved down, moving one of his hands and replacing it with his mouth. She let out a breath, after a while he switched and moved to the other one. Lilianna relaxed fully,
Klaus kissed her stomach, moving down and biting her thigh in the same spot as before. She let out a moan and gripped the sheets.
She sighed when he pulled away, she sat up, watching him lick her blood from his lips. “Klaus”
“Hmm?” He looked at her.
“Don’t go, it’s just last time you fed and then left and-”
He chuckled “and this time you want more? Tell me what exactly it is you want, Lilianna.”
 “You.” She whispered
He pinned her down, his hand around her throat “Are you positive?”
She thought for a moment, she knew she should say no but her body wanted- no her body  needed him. All she could manage was a small nod.
His free hand moved down her chest, down her stomach and slid in her underwear, she held her breath and waited. He kissed her deeply, his fingers rubbing her clit a moment before inserting. She moaned into the kiss.
When her breathing picked up he broke the kiss and removed his hands, moving down and removing her underwear, tossing them to the floor. She bit her bottom lip as she waited, sitting up just enough to watch him removing his own clothes.
He kissed the bite mark, making eye contact with her as he spread her legs. She laid down and closed her eyes, gasping when she felt his tongue.
She bit her bottom lip holding in her moans, his tongue moving in all the right ways. Her breathing got slightly heavier as she finally gave in and let out a moan.
Her hands clung to the sheet as he continued. “Klaus-” she moaned. Her knees bent up as she tried not to cum. “Klaus, Please” she breathed.
He pulled away, She opened her eyes just as he got on top of her and  pressed his cock against her, she wrapped her arms around him “Do it, please” she begged.
He lined up with her entrance and rammed inside her. She let out a moan as she dug her nails into his back, he gripped her throat and rammed harder. Another moan escaped her lips as he went faster, her legs wrapped around him. He went hard again.
Moaning loudly as her head went back, she was breathing heavily and she knew she wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer. Klaus gripped tighter on her throat. “Not yet,” he growled.
His free hand moved her hands from him, pinning them above her head as he rammed into her again.
“Fuccck” she moaned. “I can’t-”
He pressed his lips to hers, pulling away “Not yet.” he sped up.
Her toes curled as she felt herself about to cum, letting out a loud moan as he moved faster “Please”
He rammed into her hard again, her legs falling off him and her knees bending up as her toes curled. He continued, going harder with each move.
He rammed into her again “Alright, cum for me.” He moved faster, she moaned loudly as she finally let herself release, panting as he continued. He rammed into her a few more times before letting himself release then rolling off her.
Tumblr media
“Wow.” she looked over at him and smiled “that was - I should have just let you do that the first night we met”’
Klaus laughed. “It was fun, and you taste delicious, I'm not just talking about your blood.”
“Well, I would be down to do all this again. Maybe you would agree to be my real boyfriend?”
“You have weird ways of asking things.”
“Okay, Klaus. Will you wanna be my boyfriend?”
“I don’t really do the dating thing, but you can be my pet and continue to call us boyfriend and girlfriend to your family.”
She sighed “okay fine.” she could start out like that, eventually she could get him to fall in love with her, right?

Doctor's appointment ~Elijah Mikaelson~
Description: Reader seeks comfort from Elijah after a frustrating doctor's appointment
Warnings: she/her pronouns, fluff, angst
Key: Y/N = Your Name, POV = Point of view,
Word Count: 1,305
Tumblr media
I wish I asked Elijah to come with me to my doctor's appointment, he might have been able to provide comfort and make sure I covered everything that I needed to ask about before I left to ensure that I had all my worries covered but once again the medical system left me under radar and I did not have the joys of finding out what was wrong with me and only being told the things I already knew. It was increasingly frustrating, I just wanted to know what was causing my pain and how to make it go away.
I sat outside the hospital, my thumb hovering over Elijah's name as I argued with myself about bothering him with the matters of my poor mental state after this upsetting day.
Y/N: Elijah, I know that you must be busy but I need you, please.  Can you come to the hospital and pick me up, please?
Elijah: Yes, of course, I'll be there soon
Even though I knew Elijah wouldn't say no, I could feel myself relaxing with relief as he told me he'd be there. The noble Mikaelson always seemed to be there for me. I am truly grateful that he has always been there for me and as I knew in my heart he'd come running, whenever I asked and it didn't seem to matter how far away I was.
I ran to him as I saw him approaching, he brought me into his arms, holding me tightly and his hand caressed my hair, offering me as much comfort as he could. We stood still, Elijah just holding me and doing his best to provide comfort despite not knowing what was troubling me.
The vampire took me to his car, not asking about what was the matter, giving me the chance to relax and gather my bearings before I began breaking down once more confessing my current hatred for the medical system. Elijah drove to the compound, took me to his bedroom and handed me some water, the kind man allowed me to get comfortable and waited for me to find the courage to start talking.
"Thank you." Elijah nodded, offering a gentle smile, his presence was enough to make the words that were to come out feel easier to admit and his presence allowed me to feel safe in sharing what was wrong.
"I had my doctor's appointment today. The damn surgeon couldn't explain what was on my scan and why I'm in pain and how to treat my pain. I just want answers, I'm sick of being passed around like a..." I wave my hand around, trying to think of the words I wanted.
"A bong at a crappy party. I'm sick of being passed around like a bong at a crappy party. I don't want another referal. I just want answers instead of being told what I already know. I'm sick of it!" I took a deep breath, feeling my walls to be breaking, feeling myself breaking down more and more.
"I just want answers, Elijah," I whispered, rubbing my eyes to get rid of the tears, Elijah walked over and sat beside me, I curled into him, resting my head on his shoulder and smiled as he wrapped his arm around me. Making me feel better with a simple, comforting hug and his calming aura.
"I know you want answers, next time you have an appointment, tell me please and I'll take you and make sure you get the answers you need."
"Are you sure? With everything-"
"None of that, you are a part of this family and I will help you with what you need to make you feel better and return you to your full health. You'll get the answers, I'll make sure of it." He kissed my forehead, rubbing my upper arm and offering a smile that steadied my heart rate.
"Thank you for being here for me."
"Always and forever." He whispered, I smiled at the comment, it made me feel special that he included me in the 1000-year-old vow. The vampire swiftly grabbed the blanket from behind the other couch, laid it across me and brought me back into his arms, his thumb tracing circles against my skin and it lulled me to sleep.
The next morning I awoke to Elijah gently rocking me, I was snuggled against the blankets that Elijah had on his bed, and I rubbed my eyes tiredly, trying to figure out where I was as Elijah's room at first was unfamiliar, soon I relaxed as the vampire walked in with a tray of food in his hands.
"Good morning, how are you feeling?" His charming voice brought butterflies to my tummy, I pushed myself up and brought my knees to my chest. Smiling at him as I rested my chin on my knees, staring at the Original with admiration for the kindness that he had for me.
"Better, thank you."
"I made you breakfast." I smiled and pushed myself, grinning gratefully at him and rested a kiss on his cheek. He smiled at me, seemingly seeking more of my affection and presence.
"I'm going to use the restroom, will you stay and have breakfast with me, please?" Elijah nodded, placing the tray down, smiling upon my arrival. I sat down with him, humming contently at the waffles he made for me, they smelt delightful and had all the added extras I placed on my waffles.
"You did all this for me?"
"Of course. So, did you sleep well?"
"I did, your bed is really comfy. I could've slept in it all day." I confessed, sipping on the drink he had prepared. I held out my hand, glancing at it and offered a reassuring smile.
"Thank you, Y/N but it isn't necessary." Instead, he took my hand, holding it lovingly and just continued to spend time with me throughout the day. He made me feel more comfortable and reassured about everything that was going on in my life knowing that Elijah would offer me his everlasting support.

His Favourite Little Hybrid
Klaus had been away in Portland, Oregon to find and turn werewolves into his own personal hybrids. The trip had been far more successful than his one with Stefan which further proved that should he need things done efficiently, doing them alone was better.
So far he had 19 hybrids, turned and sired to his every word.
Klaus's pride was running high and his ego inflamed as he snapped the neck of the young women who had just taken a sip from his bloody wrist and let her body drop. It took a few minutes for her to reawaken, eyes bloodshot and stomach clenching in starvation. Klaus watched as her eyes darted to meet his, her head immediately bowing in both fear and submission. Slowly he crouched down to where she lay and slipped his hand to her jaw, lifting her face to look at her properly.
"That's a good girl" He murmured as she followed his gaze and crawled closer to him making the original smirk. Silently he held out his hand for one of the other hybrids to place a blood bag of doppelgänger blood in his grasp. Klaus brought it to her lips and tipped it down her throat. Without warning the girl began to gag and splutter, coughing the blood straight back out and onto Klaus's shirt. His face pulled to one of confusion and anger as he watched her panic. As soon as the realisation kicked in that she had spat it out on her sire she became overwhelmed with fear. Her emotions were peaked and she desperately tried to scrub the blood away with her hands. Klaus pulled her hands off of him, shushing her apologetic cries and telling her to calm down which she did without comprehension.
Klaus lifted her up with ease and sat down on a camping chair with her in hold. "It's alright love" He mumbled, "we'll figure out why that didn't work." he convinced though he wasn't quite sure what was wrong. Every other wolf had adapted to the transition almost immediately. He allowed her to curl against him as he thought for a moment on what could possibly have gone wrong, she drank his blood and died and then drank Elena's. That was all that was needed.
With a frustrated sigh he stood up and sat her down in the chair. "I'll be back" he muttered before walking back toward the portable cooler filled with Elena's blood. Footsteps followed him and he turned to find the same almost-hybrid looking up at him like a lost puppy. She clutched onto his bloody henley as he walked, staying close while he pulled out another bag of blood.
"Try this one love" He commanded, handing it to her with curiosity. Without question she did as she was told and took a gulp but her face immediately paled and Klaus quickly stepped to the side as she coughed it back out. The frown on his face deepened and he bent down to her height whilst his hand rest on the small of her back. "You are a werewolf aren't you love?" He asked, confused. She nodded with a sniffle and glanced up at him,
"I'm sorry" she whimpered but he shook his head.
"I don't believe this is your fault" he replied, his mind whirling with questions
"Will I die?" She asked quietly, weakly.
"No sweetheart. No I'll find what you need" He mumbled, "stay here, don't run off, understand?"
She nodded in reply and sat down onto the dirty ground. She was most definitely sired, he just didn't understand why she couldn't accept the blood. He was on the phone to witches in a fit of anger and a list of questions. Much to his disappointment and annoyance, nobody had an answer.
He returned to the girl empty handed, he found her lead against the same spot he left her in, skin slowly going grey as she trembled from the cold that she shouldn't have been able to feel. Klaus bent down beside her, his hand gently stroking her hair. He felt diminished by her dying. He had no way of overcoming or understanding it and she very clearly just wanted him to help her. It was bizarre how easily she had accepted his dominance, the other hybrids although sired still resisted. It was only when his wrist went over her face as he pet her head that she peeked her heavy eyes open.
The hunger returned within milliseconds and little veins scattered under her eyes. A small whine left her as sharp fangs alongside her werewolf canines pushed through her gums. Klaus's brows pulled together in intrigue as he presented his wrist for her teeth. With his permission she latched into him, her hands lifting to grab ahold of his hand so he couldn't pull away while she fed. Klaus's head tilted slightly and his lips parted as the intimate sensation of blood sharing shuddered throughout his body. Her tongue licked at his skin as she pulled herself off him and accepted his assistance when standing up.
She held onto his arm as he lead her through the woods, he called for the others to follow as he got to his car. It took a while and a lot of stolen borrowed vehicles to get back to Mystic Falls. He put his hybrids to work, including his last one: Y/n her name turned out to be and she was more than happy to do as he said.
The other hybrids could already see the favouritism that Klaus had for Y/n and turned on her because of it. She quickly fell to the bottom of this 'pack' though she never went to Klaus about it and whenever he was around, the others behaved how he would like so that he wouldn't suspect their bullying.
Klaus would have to stop by every day, to see the progress of his home but also to feed Y/n who relied solely on his blood. She was a clingy little thing but also most obedient and most eager so he didn't mind.
Once he moved in, he told his hybrids to compel themselves apartments or hotels, whatever they wanted. However nobody had taught Y/n what compelling was or how to do so and she was afraid to ask, besides she just wanted to be near her sire. So she would simply not rest and would hide in the mansion, being quiet down in the cellar so Klaus wasn't disturbed when he was painting or being entertained by a woman.
For some reason it hurt Y/n that her sire slept with other women, in her mind it meant that he didn't think she was enough for him. Why hadn't he asked her to satisfy him? She didn't understand but she knew that it made her feel worthless, empty.
It took weeks for Klaus to realise Y/n had been staying in the cellar at night. He had gone down to grab a bottle of wine for his... guests when he spotted his sweetest little hybrid leaning against the cold brick wall. Eyes closed and chest slowly moving with each deep breath.
"Y/n, love?" He called gently, kneeling down and gently reaching for her arm. Her eyes flew open in alarm and she flinched away from his touch causing her head to smack the back of the wall. Klaus hissed as though he could feel her pain and pulled her into his lap. "Sh sh, it doesn't hurt sweetheart" he told her and just like that, the pain was gone. He held the back of her head gently and kissed her temple softly. "Forgive me my lovely. I didn't mean to frighten you, nor cause you pain" he apologised, still frowning even as he felt her calm down. "Why are you down here sweet girl?" Klaus questioned, his tone kind.
"Sleeping" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes with a small stretch "Is it morning?"
"No, love. Why are you sleeping down here?" He asked, confused and concerned.
Y/n looked up at him in response and hesitantly opened her mouth. She was unable to lie to her sire but embarrassment made her resist "I don't want to tell you" she whimpered quietly and he tilted his head. Klaus opened his mouth to speak but the sound of drunken giggling echoed down the stairs drawing his attention and making Y/n move away from him and back to her corner.
Two girls made their way down into the cellar, asking for Klaus to come back upstairs. One of them spotted Y/n on the ground and teased that she could join them making Klaus's wolf growl warningly under the surface. "That won't be necessary" He dismissed as he pulled Y/n to her feet. Klaus proceeded to compel both girls to go home without the memory of ever meeting him.
"Come on love" he encouraged, taking her hand and guiding her up the stairs before going up again and leading her to his bedroom though she hesitated to sit down on his bed when he asked her to and he noticed her reluctance. "What's wrong?" He asked but she shook her head and sat down on the edge.
Klaus bent down and pecked the top of her head sweetly before pulling open his drawers and grabbing an old shirt. Y/n's cheeks went pink when he began to undress her. The room was quiet as he pulled the top over her head and slid her bra out from underneath it. His hands were careful with where he touched before tossing her clothes away and pulling back the covers.
"In you get my love, you need a proper rest if you've been sleeping down in the cellar." He ordered, smiling when she did as he said and curled up against the mattress and snuggling the duvet when he wrapped it round her. His warmth enveloped her as he slipped in behind her, his body wrapping around hers protectively. Something about having his favourite little hybrid cuddled up in his bed made his body hum softly and for her, having her sire, her master holding her so close made her feel content.
They fell asleep quickly and slept solidly throughout the night. Y/n woke when the sun did, and slowly turned to face Klaus's sleeping face. A blush overtook her soft cheeks as she nuzzled to him for comfort and remained there until he woke.
Klaus let her feed from him before telling her to do as she pleased for the day while he took care of his own business.
Night and night she found herself in his bed, in his arms. When she didn't come to him, he came to find her and bring her back. Klaus could feel his affections for his hybrid beginning to grow. She had no ill intentions and was utterly lovely, always obedient and never failed to please him. Y/n was, by far, his favourite little hybrid.
The others knew this and hated her for it. Klaus was cruel to his other hybrids and treated them like puppets while whispering pretty little things into Y/n's ear and petting her hair like she was the most delicate flower in the world.
Even when Stefan was threatening Klaus to send his hybrids away, he wasn't stupid enough to bring Y/n into it. In fact he tried to compromise.
"You can keep the small one" Stefan offered making Klaus narrow his eyes. "You know which one I mean. The pretty one, Y/n right?" he pressed and Klaus's gaze hardened. "She can stay, she's harmless but I want the rest need to be gone by morning"
"Or what?" Klaus questioned, his anger rising. "Or I'll get rid of them, and her." He finished before disappearing.
Klaus was furious and even more so when he found that Y/n had been listening and was now terrified that she would die. Of course it was easy enough for him to calm her down but knowing that Stefan had upset her so much made his rage rise. With much reluctance he sent his other hybrids away and kept Y/n inside at all times.
Over the next week Klaus was tense all of the time as he grew more and more frustrated as a result of still not having his coffins back. Y/n tried her best to be there for him but sometimes he frightened her and she would go down into the cellar to be out of the way.
It was only because Klaus needed a drink that he went down there again and found her asleep on the floor again. His anger left him and he carried her back up to his room with a small frown etched into his face. Her body curled to his automatically as he lay against her again and he promised to be kinder to her.
Eventually he got his family back and thought he could relax however Elijah turned out to be undaggered. He had appeared infront of Klaus and behind Y/n, Klaus could immediately sense the danger over his girl and had Elijah by the throat before he could smack Y/n's head off her shoulders. The two brothers threw each other across the room, smashing the furniture and ruining the downstairs. Y/n was hidden behind one of the sofas, her claws extended and clinging onto a pillow as she squeezed her eyes shut to block out the urge to save her sire. Klaus had commanded that should someone attack, she must hide which went directly against her instincts as his hybrid.
Eventually Klaus and Elijah calmed some what and were both stood panting heavily. Elijah glanced toward the soft sniffles and so did Klaus. Elijah noticed his brothers expression drop and his legs carry him over to the source of the cries.
"It's okay love" he whispered, picking her up "Don't be afraid" he told her, looking down at her eyes to watch the fear drain from them. She remained tense and on edge but the tears stopped and he was able to wipe them away. Elijah approached making Klaus growl warningly and place Y/n behind him protectively "Not her." he stated with no space more questions. "Y/n go to bed. I'll be there soon, I want you to relax" He ordered and she nodded, running upstairs and into his room.
He spoke with Elijah about their fathers demise and how their mother was still being held by the Salvatores as leverage. They spoke of a lot before Klaus explained Y/n's being here.
"She's sired to you" Elijah stated and Klaus nodded
"Of course she is, she's my hybrid" he answered
"And she sleeps with you?" Elijah questioned
"Not like that, we just sleep" Klaus mumbled and his brother nodded unconvinced
"Niklaus... you remember what happened the last time a girl was sired to you..." Elijah murmured with furrowed brows, concern swirling in his eyes at Klaus's intentions.
"I don't make Y/n do anything she doesn't want to." He snapped back, offended by the accusation
"You might not mean to-"
"I have not touched her!" The original hybrid yelled, getting to his feet.
"Niklaus." Elijah sighed, rising to follow his temperamental sibling. "This girl does not know what she feels or wants. She just knows she has to make you happy. It's clear you care for her, I don't believe you want to bring her displeasure however you must understand how easy it would be to do something with her that she doesn't truly desire."
"She's my hybrid, mine. I won't have you meddling and scaring her." He muttered before heading up the stairs to lay with his girl and assure that she was safe and in his hold.
Klaus kept her away from Elijah as his feelings progressed. Without thinking, every now and then Klaus would peck Y/n's lips in greeting or goodbye. Y/n wouldn't dare question it, she loved the attention and affection he gave her and wouldn't ever ask for it to stop. Soft touches became more common, a hand on her thigh or waist as he shifted closer to her. Often he would need her to be in his lap and listening to his plans while he twirled her hair in between his fingers and brushed his hands across her skin subtly to sooth his wolf.
But when Hayley came into town, staying with Tyler and helping the other hybrids break their sire bonds, Klaus began to pull away a little. He found himself busy more and more in search for the cure, keeping Rebekah at bay and dealing with supernatural vampire hunters.
The other hybrids knew Y/n wouldn't want to break her sire bond. They knew she would run to her master and tell him what they've been doing. So they left her in the dark again.
Y/n began to feel more and more isolated. Klaus told her to not go outside without him there but he was almost never home and with everyone else pretending she didn't exist, she had gotten much lonelier.
Despite Klaus compelling her to not feel sadness or negative things, the feeling still lingered in the back of her mind. No matter how hard she tried to comply with his commands and only be happy, the lack of touch, socialisation and most importantly her sires affection or approval began to take its toll. When Klaus forgot to feed her his blood, she began to fade. Klaus would often forget about her when he was busy, he didn't mean to and as soon as he had a moment to he would give her some attention but that became more and more rare the past few weeks.
It was because of this that she was far too weak to fight off the other hybrids when they chained her up in the cellar, when they forced wolvesbane down her throat before stuffing a vervain drenched cloth into her mouth so she couldn't yell out for help. None of them looked even the slightest bit guilty or remorseful as they left, planning to kill Klaus.
Unfortunately for them, Klaus was far more powerful and tore each one of them apart. As he approached the twelfth hybrid, only one question lingered on his mind.
"Where is Y/n?" He seethed. He had naturally assumed that she too had betrayed him and didn't understand how she could do so. The hybrid only shook their head,
"She would never help us" they rasped and Klaus's gaze softened for a second.
"Where?" He repeated
"Home" they whispered before having their head swiftly removed.
Klaus tore his home apart in search of his girl, it only occurred to him that she would be in the cellar after he had smashed every piece of furniture on the middle floor. Without hesitation he sped down there.
His heart stopped as he watched her sob on the ground, her face was covered by the cloth but he could see and hear the sizzling of her skin. Hurriedly he sped over and knelt beside her, ripping the gag out of her mouth and allowing her broken screams to break free while he broke the chains off of her throat and wrists.
"I'm so sorry" he whispered, tearing his own wrist open and pushing it to her mouth. Her cries were muffled as he pulled her into his lap and poured his mouth down her swollen throat. Klaus kissed her forehead repeatedly whilst encouraging her to keep drinking even after her wounds were healed. She went quiet after a while and pulled away from both his arm and him. Klaus pulled her back to him and brought her lips to his. Y/n couldn't help the tears that dropped again as her sire kissed her so deeply.
His hands held her face gently as he urged her mouth open so that he may express his love for her in the ways he knew how to. He needed her to stay with him, to never leave him.
Passion was poured from him to her as he brought her upstairs to their bed, she was laid down on her back while he leant over her. It was only when he finally let her lips free from his that she was able to notice the sheer amount of blood that soaked through his suit and stained his skin. Her expression changed to one of worry as her hands felt for any injuries.
"It's alright love" He murmured softly, kissing her hands softly "It isn't mine" he explained and she swallowed down the lump in her throat. The others had been cruel to her even before Klaus. She was seen as the runt of the pack. She was gullible and docile. She had no characteristics of a werewolf and didn't belong with them. They deserved it, she knew that but she couldn't use their death to mark her relationship with Klaus.
Klaus felt her withdrawal and looked down at her with a soft sigh. A soft kiss was pressed to her cheek before he moved off her and stood back up. Y/n sat up before getting off the bed and following him into the bathroom. She helped him wash the blood away from his skin despite the way it made her gag and squirm. Eventually they went to sleep with the promise of each others comfort for the times to come.
They remained close and Klaus grew some how more protective until the only way it could be described was as possessive. He couldn't imagine her ever being in so much pain again, it was so strong that it broke her compulsion of his. Klaus had only compelled Y/n to block out any negative emotions because he didn't like that she would feel so sad or think lowly of herself. It was the only way he thought would help. However it also meant that she was always thinking so positively of him, even when he did something truly awful.
It made her sirebond grow as well as her affections until she was convinced that she was truly in love with him. She thought he loved her back. He did, but the memory of Elijahs words spun round his head. He couldn't take advantage of their bond, he wouldn't hurt her or violate her, he just couldn't. So he tried to distract himself. He had told her to go out for once and have some fun.
While she was gone, Hayley Marshall came over to negotiate some information. One thing lead to another and he had her against a wall, cock buried inside her and clothes on the floor. His eyes were closed as he pictured Y/n's face while he fucked the werewolf until she screamed.
Under no circumstances in his head, had Y/n come back so early.
It was completely unexpected. She had bumped into Damon Salvatore who had both scared and upset her in a short amount of time making her want her sire for some comfort.
Her hope was soon diminished when she pushed the doors open and saw such a scarring scene. Klaus had only broken out of his thoughts when Hayley let out a squeak and whispered for him to stop. He lifted his head in confusion before catching sight of a horrified Y/n. quickly she spun round and sped away making Klaus yell out. He pulled out of Hayley, muttering an apology as he dragged his trousers back on and running after his sweet girl.
He found her back down in the cellar once again.
Klaus knew she wouldn't understand. He also knew that she shouldn't have to try to. He could feel the guilt filling him and he hugged her to his chest and felt her body tremble with whimpers as she tried to push those negative feelings away.
"It's okay my lovely, you can feel angry and upset now" He whispered, prepared for her to yell or fight at him but she only cried. She cried for so long that he wondered how she had any tears left to give.
She had been both traumatised and heart broken all at once but she also knew that he was the only one that could calm her, soothe her soul. So she tried to pretend that it hadn't happened.
Klaus tried as well but he could see the hurt in her eyes constantly. He had explained to her that it wasn't because he didn't love her, that he was so sorry and that he never wanted her to feel that way. She just shook her head and said she was being silly, they weren't together and neither of them had asked to change that. Had she of been any other girl perhaps he wouldn't have cared so much but she was his little hybrid and he couldn't believe the pain he had caused.
Klaus tried his best to spend time with her and make her smile but he wasn't so sure if she was smiling because she wanted to or because she knew that he wanted her to.
He began to wonder that about a lot of things. If she was just doing things because he wanted her to.
The one thing he knew that she definitely did like for herself was physical affection. So he made extra effort in doing so. It didn't take long for her to be curled against his side again, head on his chest and her hands in his while they watched a movie together.
Things sweetened for a small time before they soured once more.
Only this time it wasn't changeable.
Hayley was pregnant with Klaus's baby. Apparently they had still both had a good enough time before Y/n's interruption that night.
Y/n's light dulled when she found out. She was very conflicted. Part of her hated that Klaus was having a baby with somebody else, part of her put herself at fault for not offering herself to him so that he hadn't turned to another girl in the first place and the last part of her, the sired part, told her to be quiet and supportive. She should be seeing how she could help and promising to put her life on the line for this child.
Y/n tried so hard to do that.
But the other Mikaelsons weren't very grateful nor nice to her or her help. Hayley only felt awkward about her and any other supernaturals were uncomfortable in a hybrids presence.
It took months for her to pluck up the courage but eventually she went to Klaus.
"I think maybe I should go?" She whispered quietly, drawing his attention away from his painting.
"Go where sweetheart?" he questioned, his features twisting to a frown.
"I don't know...I just...I think that maybe I shouldn't be here anymore?" She murmured, eyes on the ground and her head screaming 'no'.
"Why not love?" He asked, putting his brush down.
"You don't really need me any more... you have all those vampires and stuff. Plus the baby will be here soon and well...I'd probably be in the way so.." she trailed, her words quiet and unsure.
Klaus could tell as she spoke that this was her way of saying that she couldn't watch him play house with another women. Especially since they still hadn't progressed their relationship. He understood that he was somewhat stringing her along, it was just that he didn't want to let go. But now he knew that he had to.
And so, with much reluctance, he agreed.
"If that's what you want" He whispered, stepping close to her. She nodded hesitantly and felt herself go rigid as his arms enveloped her before she softened and melted against him.
Over the next couple days, he had witches finding a way to help her digest human blood, he set her up a bank account and some identification so that she may start fresh wherever she chose to before having to do something he never wanted to do. Unfortunately the only way for her to be able to move away and on with her life without feeling such terrible guilt for leaving her sire or the urge to come back to him was for her to forget that he existed.
Klaus watched as she looked up at him in confusion before apologising and explaining that she was in a rush to get to the airport and wasn't looking where she was going. He told her it was okay and that she should try be careful to which she smiled and agreed before continuing on her journey, leaving Klaus to wonder where it may take her.

part one
Tumblr media
you hugged yourself, as you walked back home from the convenience store near your home. it was a chilly night. mystic falls has always been a cold city, but lately, for you, there hasn’t been a warm day. not ever since your break up with klaus mikaelson.
thinking of klaus was painful, as you remembered that night at the ball. the night you caught him lovingly staring into caroline’s eyes, and kissing her. you both ultimately broke up. well, you decided to call things off. you just couldn’t forgive his betrayal. he knew. caroline has always been a worry in your life. from past relationships to your career, everything was a competition and you always lost. klaus was no exception. it seemed klaus and caroline had actually became a couple after your break up. it was heartbreaking to say the least.
“y/n, please wait just a second. listen to me, dear.” klaus asked desperately, his eyes slowly but surely watering at the realization of what was happening. you held your suitcase close to you, your hand tightening around the handle, trying your hardest not to give in to klaus anymore.
“let me go.” you repeated once again, not daring to meet his eyes anymore.
“y/n, please.” klaus pleaded. “i’m sorry. i truly am. i never intended for this to happen.” he said, his hand trying to hold yours, but you pulled away again. apologies meant nothing. you had nothing else to say. you were done. your relationship was done.
“darling, please, just—” klaus pleaded yet again, his hands now laid on your soaked cheeks. the nickname tugging at your broken heart. a few tears left your eyes in pure anger and betrayal.
“no!” you raised your voice, your throat aching as you continued. “you kissed her!” you said, as you forcefully removed his hands from you. klaus stared, sorrow in his eyes, shaking his head.
“y/n—”
“do you love her?”
“what?” klaus asked, taken back by the sudden question. you wiped your teary eyes and spoke again.
“answer me. do you love her?” you asked once again, terrified of the answer. but needing the response.
“please..” klaus begged, not daring to respond. but you knew the answer. after all, who were you next to the caroline forbes?
you nodded in response, understanding. you weren’t her. you would never be as special as her. who were you to think you could be appreciated and loved? how naive. you sniffled, placing a few strands of your hair behind your ear, ready to walk out of his life for good. klaus looked for your eyes, worried about you, and about the hurt he has caused you. but you never met his eyes. you completely ignored his existence, and left.
you shivered gently, as warm air left your mouth. you held the grocery bag, that contained a few snacks, headache pills and a bottle of wine, to continue to drown your sorrows in. you were over him. you swore you were. but from time to time, you couldn’t help but hurt. you have never loved anyone the way you loved klaus. not matt nor tyler. no one ever came close, not that it mattered anymore.
the streets were empty, probably due to all the werewolves and vampire attacks in the city. this was no surprise to you, you were used to it. werewolves and vampires just didn’t scare you anymore. who would even try to lay a hand on you? you were klaus mikaelson’s ex girlfriend, and a close friend of the mikaelson family. the brothers and rebekah had been taking great care of you. they knew more than anybody what happened between you two, and understood your need for space. kol and elijah were very fond of you. rebekah believed they were in love with you, often joking about another love triangle. the mikaelson family has helped you so much through all of this. it has been a year. you healed, but you never wanted to see caroline or klaus ever again.
you pouted a bit, as you realized how quite far the store was from your place. you wanted to be home already. times like this is when you wished to be a vampire. the speed would really help you right now. you smirked at your dumb thoughts as you fixed your airpod, continuing your walk home. you took out your phone, wanting to skip a song, when you heard a familiar voice call out for you.
“y/n?” the voice asked, making you almost freeze in your tracks. please don’t let this be who you thought it was.
your eyes looked up from your phone screen and met his. your past lover’s eyes. the eyes of the man you so desperately loved, but you felt nothing but sadness for. you took a deep breath as you took a look at him. he looked good. healthy.
“it’s—” klaus started, before looking down at the watch in his wrist, his eyes full of worry and confusion. “it’s two am, love… why are you wandering around so late at night?” klaus asked gently, scared to anger you, or sadden you, but so worried about you.
it was very late already. it had been dangerous around town. he knew you were an easy target to hurt him. you were human, and had no protection around you. klaus lived in constant fear of waking up with the news of your death or kidnapping done by his many enemies. you tilted your head at his soft tone. you sighed softly, shrugging your shoulder.
“it’s alright. just needed something from the store down the road.” you replied, signaling at the plastic bag in your hand. he tilted his head in utter confusion, why wouldn’t you wait until morning? regardless he nodded slowly.
“i see…but why must you walk all alone at this time of night? it’s been dangerous lately.” klaus said, you furrowed your eyebrows and and looked up at him. he sounded so genuinely worried and you couldn’t understand why.
“why do you care, niklaus?” you asked, your tone tired. klaus looked into your kind eyes, and felt a rush of sadness wash over him, as he remembered his time with you.
the truth is… caroline wasn’t you. she really wasn’t, and klaus despised it. caroline was kind, but not as kind and selfless as you. she was loving, but he didn’t feel as alive with her as he did with you. she could offer him eternity, but he realized he would prefer spending a limited lifespan by your side. it wasn’t that you were caroline, it was that caroline just wasn’t you.
“i just— you do know i care so deeply about you, right? i just wanted to check up on you.” klaus half lied, he just missed you. he missed you like crazy and it was eating him alive. the big, bad original vampire was nothing with you. you chucked under your breath, not wanting to offer him a reply to his cheap excuse.
“let me walk you home, won’t you?” klaus continued, real concern in his voice, and you heard it. you bit your lip, hesitating.
“i beg. i just want to be certain that you got home safe and sound.” klaus said softly, as you started fidgeting with your hands. you sighed, nodding your head after a few minutes of hesitating. he seemed so genuinely worried, a little company wouldn’t hurt anyone after all.
it was silent most of the time. you wanted to ask. how everything was with caroline, but why would you want to hurt yourself even more? why would you care? so you didn’t ask. and wouldn’t even talk if he didn’t start a conversation first. klaus could feel his heart breaking as the silence broke out yet again. you always had something to say, something to tell him, but now you were dead silent. it pained him.
“i miss you.” klaus finally confessed, your heart stopping at his sudden words. for the first time, you looked at him, in utter shock. but klaus continued looking upfront, terrified to meet your expression. after a few minutes of thinking, you spoke up.
“you don’t get to do that.” you mumbled, loud enough for him to hear. he nodded in agreement, biting his red lips. you were right. he has no right to even miss you at all. he was the one who caused this.
“i acknowledge that, believe me.” klaus said, a sigh leaving his lips mid sentence. you could sense the honesty in his voice. “i just wanted to tell you.” you nodded, your eyes now locked towards the floor you both walked on.
“caroline…” klaus continued, the mention of her name felt like a knife to the chest. you swallowed your hurt and continued to listen to klaus mikaelson pour his heart out for you. “she’s lovely. she’s sweet, delightful and kind…” klaus said, every one of his words deepening your wound.
“but she’s just not… you.” klaus said, stopping his walking and turning to face you. “i realized how big of a mistake i made. i knew of your past with her, and i still did it, and i want to apologize.” klaus spoke, as you listened.
“in this past year, i have done nothing but miss and love you.” klaus confessed and you felt your skin turn pale. “you are the one made for me, y/n. and i was incredibly foolish for even doubting it.”
“klaus..”
“please— let me finish.” klaus begged, his strong, big hands reaching over to hold yours. “she’s not you. she is just not the woman i am so desperately in love with. she is absolutely no one and nothing next to you. and i feel so miserable for adding onto your pain, and self doubt.” klaus continued.
“klaus—” you tried saying once again, only to be interrupted.
“i was wrong.” klaus whispered softly, his right hand now resting on your soft cheek, his thumb stroking your skin. “my biggest mistake to day is hurting you.” klaus confessed, his eyes slowly watering, to your surprise. you heart was being shaken by his broken expression, the way his eyes were filled with pure regret and sadness, and how his mouth frowned at you. it took everything in you to not wrap your arms around him and console who used to be your gentle hybrid. after a while of staring into each other’s eyes, klaus spoke up again.
“would you please give me another chance to redeem myself? let me make this right, my love, please.” klaus finished, his eyes full of sincerity. the nickname he used to always endearingly call you taking your breath away instantly.
you stood in the middle of the street, with the man of your life holding you, and pleading to have you back. you bit your lip, holding back the tears that threatened to run down your cheeks. he wanted you back? he realized he was wrong? he regrets everything? you don’t know if you wanted to laugh or cry.
you wanted to give in, and be his again. you adored him. you were sure he was the love of your life. but could you even trust him anymore? after everything he put you through? after all the turmoil, heartbreak and self distrust you felt for yourself? he was part of the cause of your low self-esteem, and lack of self confidence. the person who used to be the main reason for your confidence and self love, was now the reason of your infinite sadness and self loathing.
“i can’t…” you started, your hands rushing over to remove his from your body. klaus looked at you, shocked by your actions. “i won’t go back to you, klaus.” you replied gently. even if he broke your heart into a million pieces, you wouldn’t want to hurt him. he mattered to you. the only way you were going to hurt him was by not going back to him, and letting caroline have him. that would be your revenge for everything she has put you through. letting her believe the man she wanted most loved her, when in fact, he adored you.
“darling…”
“no, niklaus.” you said gently, shaking your head. “you and caroline are perfect for each other, can’t you see?” you said, his heart tightening at your words.
“you’ve hurt me enough. how sure can i be that you won’t change your mind like you did before?” you asked, and klaus shook his head, refusing. his hands ran to your cheeks again, his forehead now resting in yours, eyes closed as he begged you. klaus mikaelson was begging you. a mere human.
“i will never. i will never commit the same mistake as before, my beloved.” klaus whispered to you, his voice breaking. you fought your tears, breaking the contact between you two.
“and what if you do? what if this happens again? i won’t put myself through this again, klaus. i deserve better.” you said, finally putting yourself first. you mattered, before anyone else. even before the man you loved.
“i just can’t find it in me to trust you again.” you said, taking a few steps back, ready to continue walking home, and leave all this behind. you wanted to start over and regain the love you once had for yourself. klaus stared at you, as tears now ran down his cheek. it took everything in you to not kiss him and forgive him in that instant.
“then please.” klaus spoke again, raising his voice, so you could hear as you walked away from him. “please keep your heart open for me.” klaus spoke for the last time, desperation in his voice. a smile creeped up in your lips, as you continued walking him.

Tease of Yours
PAIRING | Niklaus x Reader
GENRE | Angst, fluff
WORD COUNT | 3k
WARNINGS | Blood.
SUMMARY | You could only withhold your public affections for the enemy for so long; the truth was bound to be spilt.
Tumblr media
A single phrase echoed in your mind. Don’t fall. The time you miss a single step would be the time of your death. If only you were a vampire and could speed through the process; but as a mere human, time was only your enemy.
Your legs heaved your body up as you climbed a pillar alongside the Mikaelson’s property. It probably wasn’t the safest option to see your boyfriend and would be easier asking for a key to his front door, but you wanted to prove to Niklaus that you too, could be as “dangerous” as him.
The bet alone was stupid, but as couples do, you shared a trait with Niklaus: an overflowing ego. If he had come out of his room to yell at you to get down, you would’ve simply ignored the man. Except, he couldn’t as he wasn’t exactly home, and neither were his siblings. So, that left you alone to endure the challenge you put upon yourself to reach his open balcony door.
Your arms maximised their strength as you finally got a hold of the balcony’s flooring. You tightly wrapped a hand around the railing, then the other, and lifted yourself over, before landing safely on the tiles. If the struggle in the climb wasn’t embarrassing enough, the slow claps you heard from below were definitely humiliating.
“Oh love, you amuse me!” Oh Niklaus, perfect timing. “But don’t stress, it wasn’t filmed!” he shouted, an obvious chuckle concealing itself within his throat. “By me, anyway…”
His words made your cheeks burn brighter than they had from your lack of oxygen. If he had seen it, there was no doubt that his siblings weren’t there to witness it too. You just hoped it wasn’t Kol who had filmed it, sometimes his playfulness went too far.
When you had finally gotten up from the floor, Niklaus was already leant against the door frame, a glass of wine in hand and a smile gracing his pretty, pink lips. His head was tilted, eyes in awe of you, and eyebrows raised in amusement.
“Now, I know how much you despise being filmed, so I ordered Kol to delete it before you could cry,” he teased, his eyes leaving your figure to look at the uninteresting door frame beside him. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, he loved to show his tenderness towards you with little acts of service.
“Thank you, Nik,” you told him. The corners of his lips raised at your words, and you brought your body closer to his for an embrace. "I appreciate it, really.”
Niklaus smiled down at you, his eyebrows now relaxed and cheeks full of pink. “No worries, love.” It was that pet name – the one you could never find yourself getting used to. The way it rolled off his tongue was melodic, and you wished for it to be the last song you were to ever hear.
“But…” he paused. He lowered his head to yours, his smile faded from his lips. “You shouldn’t be here.” You knew this – with the Salvatores coming in and out of the Mikaelson’s mansion, it wasn’t safe for you. They would never accept your tangle with the enemy.
If only your friends hadn’t gotten into trouble with Niklaus’ family, you could’ve openly expressed your affections with the hybrid. “I know, I just…” you huffed, “I just wanted to see you.”
If Niklaus could possibly be any more in awe of you, he would crumble to his knees. As his tenderness is to you, he found your sentiments profoundly beautiful. To someone such as himself, Niklaus never would’ve thought to hear words so simple yet so meaningful. In the few days he’d dealt with unnecessary drama, your humble words brought a warmth to his heart.
“Well,” he smiled, a blush on his cheeks. “Since you’re already here, I suggest you join us in a Mikaelson family dinner?”
He noticed the way your eyebrow slightly raised in uncertainty, and he chuckled. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing fancy, my love.” Then, he took your hand and lead you to the kitchen, where his other siblings already surrounded, preparing for dinner.
When Kol turned to you, a smirk raised onto his lips, a shiver of annoyance rose your spine. “Oh, is our little climber joining us for dinner?”
The next morning, you were ordered to stay away from the mansion – courtesy from Niklaus himself. He and his siblings had planned a meeting in order with the Salvatores and wanted you to have no part in it. So instead, you and Elena spent the day at the Grill.
“Ugh, Caroline isn’t answering my messages,” Elena groaned as she threw her phone to the table. The loud clank of the two objects connecting drew the attention of surrounding patrons and the brunette blushed in embarrassment. “It’s not like her…” she elaborated in a quieter tone.
It’s true. Caroline might’ve been an individual who had every second of her day calculated for her future, but still, she always had time to update her friends in her endeavours.
“Maybe she just got caught up in something?” you assumed with a shrug. Although you completely believed your idea, Elena wasn’t convinced. With the never-ending happenings between your friendship group and the Mikaelsons, she believed that they had something to do with it.
“I don’t know, she was supposed to meet up with Stefan today…” she began, an unevenness in her tone. She noticeably drifted her eyes to something behind you before she quickly flicked them back, an uneasy smile now evident on her cheeks. Her expression was odd: it was clear she had something to say, but before you could ask, footsteps travelled behind you and a voice spoke.
“Ladies,” the familiarity in tone made you smile. Niklaus. “Fancy seeing you here, have you seen the lovely Caroline? She has something she owes me,” he spoke.
Huh, the meeting was quick, you thought but disregarded. Instead, a tease crossed your mind, and you turned to the man, an act of annoyance on your face. “Can’t you see we’re busy, Klaus? Besides, if we knew where she was, we wouldn’t tell you anyway.”
He smirked your way before turning to an overly confident Elena. “Ahh…” he played amusingly. “I did miss that witty tongue,” he praised with an eyebrow raised in hilarity. Then, he turned back to you, “care to share it with me?”
The gross joke almost made you puke in your mouth, and you had to hold yourself back from playfully hitting your boyfriend. “You’re disgusting.”
“But you love it, don’t you, love?” he continued to play.
Elena scoffed at his amusement and rolled her eyes. The scene that unfolded was utterly gross to the brunette. If her enemy and best friend got together, she would just break down. “Klaus, why don’t you leave?” the annoyance spat from her tongue.
“Oh, but the fun is just starting...”
The statement made you raise an eyebrow, and you acted a scoff, “no offence, Klaus, but I’m surprised you haven’t got the memo yet: I don’t like you.”
The hybrid only laughed, “oh, do you now?”
After the short interaction with your boyfriend, he left to the mansion and Elena went to visit the Salvatore boarding house to look for Caroline. So, for the rest of the evening, you entertained yourself at the Grill with little simulation games on your phone. It was about half passed six when you received a message from Niklaus.
A date in the forest. I’ll pick you up.
Love, yours
It wasn’t long before Niklaus picked you up and took you to a mountain that overlooked the town. It was a special place of yours – the location in which you met. Whenever you both needed a breath of fresh air, you’d drive one another back to the mountain for a breather. It was your favourite activity together.
“Remember when we met?” you asked Niklaus.
You were stood on a tree root that flared a bit from the ground, your boyfriend behind you in case you were to fall. He was grateful you couldn’t see his face because he blushed. The thought of reminiscing about your meeting was embarrassing.
“Let’s not…”
You cheekily giggled and looked to the star-filled sky. “I was drawing the forest and you tried to compel me!” you laughed. “What was it you said? Um…” you paused to think, a hand on your chin to emphasise. “Oh! You tried to compel me into telling you information about a dark object!”
Niklaus wished he could control his hearing and block you out, but as much as he was so tempted to learn, he loved hearing your laugh. “Yes, I admit it was dumb to ask a stranger…”
“A stranger who had their mother put vervain in their coffee every morning! I laughed in your face!” you included as you turned to him with open arms. He understood your idea and pulled you into an embrace. Into his neck, you breathed in the scent of his cologne before you sighed, “I’m so glad you didn’t snap my neck.”
He smiled into your hair, “yeah, well… You made it so difficult to do so.”
You pulled your head back from his neck to look at him. With a cheeky squint, you joked, “are you saying the Niklaus Mikaelson was soft on a stranger he just met?” Those words got his eyes rolling and he playfully pushed you back and began to walk away.
“I’m going home!” he declared, a teasing tone in his voice.
You stalked beside him, a mischievous smile gracing your lips. “Oh, come on Niklaus! I was just teasing…” you laughed, and he smiled away from you.
For a moment, he paused his steps and turned to look at you; and with a gentle smile, he said, “as much as I enjoy your taunting, love. I should really get you home.”
The gesture in itself was endearing, but his included raise of an eyebrow and slight smile almost had you crumbling to your knees. So, with a mirrored expression, you grabbed a hold of his hand and stepped forward. But the abrupt movement had you lurching forward in agony.
A loud clamp echoed through the forest. At your feet, a pain struck your ankle. Niklaus was by your side in an instant. The pain was unbearable. It felt like spikes had lunged themselves into your skin. If you could bear to open your eyes, you were so sure that you were caught in a beartrap.
“Nik, it hurts!” you cried out. A shaky breath left your throat.
Niklaus couldn’t bear to see you in agony. His eyebrows scrunched at the smell of your blood. “Don’t open your eyes, love.”
You could hear as he pulled his phone from his pocket to call Elijah, and you wanted nothing more than to cry. The chirping of crickets and the faint beeping from the trap overstimulated your senses. Everything had been so peaceful that night until this very moment.
“Nik, this beeping is annoying!”
What beeping? He thought. The man had to perk his ears open and focus on the noise. Although it wasn’t far away, your shaky breaths invaded his senses, and he couldn’t focus.
Then, he finally heard it. A faint beep beep beep coming from the trap. He pulled himself onto his knees and dug around the dirt. There was a dim green light blinking on the edge of the metal. Beside it, in large font, ‘SALVATORE.’
Great, he thought. It was the name he despised the most after his father’s. Your friends, but his enemies. His head burnt in annoyance and his face scrunched in anger. If you didn’t open your eyes from his silence, you would’ve missed the way his eyes shone a gold.
“What is it, Nik?” you asked him. You couldn’t bear to look down.
He shook his head. He couldn’t bring himself to tell you. “Nothing, love. Let’s just wait for Elijah…” there was an emptiness in his words; like he had to hide something from you, but you didn’t bother to question it. Instead, you gave him an insincere nod and admired the trees to take your mind off the pain.
You wanted to ask for some pain relief, but his mind seemed preoccupied. He was watching the forest in silent rage. You only had to endure the pain a little longer, Elijah was coming, but the blood that dripped from your leg was slowly draining you. It was getting much harder to bear.
“Nik,” you whispered. Your eyes began to droop closed and your breath heaved. The sweat that dripped down your skin added to your over-sensory. “I’m going to die, aren’t I?”
Your words disgusted the hybrid, and although you couldn’t see it, he shook his head. “You’re not going to die, I won’t let you,” he assured. You heard the chomp of his fangs against his skin before he pulled your head back and slipped his wrist into your mouth. “Drink up.”
The metallic taste sunk into your tongue. It wasn’t pleasing but the pain began to subside. At last, it became more bearable, and you peeled your eyes open. Niklaus was staring down at you in concern, his eyebrows scrunched, and mouth gapped open.
When you pulled away from his wrist, he gave you a soft smile and wiped the remaining red from your lips. Then, there was a crunch behind you: a snap of a branch. Niklaus stood, his eyes glowed gold again.
“Who’s there?” he shouted. Another crunch and a whoosh of wind. “Come out, now!” he demanded.
Then, another whoosh. Running footsteps approached. There was a flashlight behind the trees that threatened to blare through the leaves and into your eyes. Niklaus blocked your view.
“Come out or…” he was interrupted.
A familiar voice called out. Elena. You let out a sigh. At least it wasn’t a murderous vampire.
When she had finally come into view, followed by Caroline and the Salvatore brothers, you didn’t expect faces of irritation. Damon in particular had an obvious scowl of annoyance. They turned to Niklaus.
“What did you do?” Elena glared at him; a pink of frustration rose onto her cheeks. “That was meant for you!”
It was only then, that you noticed your proximity with the Salvatore Boarding House. The trap must’ve been one of theirs. Stefan tapped his girlfriend to calm down before he stepped forwards. “What she meant was: we’re going to help our friend out, and you’re going to let us,” he smiled insincerely.
Niklaus scoffed in disbelief. The confidence is overbearing, he thought. But still, he moved aside and let the Salvatores manage your situation. As long as they released you from your restraints, he was willing to hold back his psychotic tendencies.
He watched as they clamped the metal chain with bolt cutters and disabled to trap. The light on the metal turned a red and your foot was finally unclasped from its lock. Niklaus couldn’t withhold a grateful smile. You were finally fine.
His eyes roamed your face for any sign of discomfort, but you sustained a grin. The pain was still there, but you were relieved to be freed. Niklaus was relieved too. He wouldn’t forgive himself if he let you stay trapped any longer. He was definitely going to have a word with Elijah about his swiftness.
Niklaus stood by as your friends ensured your safety, but he was slowly growing inpatient. He still had to take you home, your mother couldn’t keep waiting. But when he came to speak, he noticed Damon closing into you, his wrist out for you to drink from.
A fire burnt in Niklaus. He had already let the Salvatore be the knight in shining armour: he couldn’t have you drinking from him too. So, in a quick movement, he rushed by your side and pushed Damon away.
“What do you think you’re doing?” he spat, his arm snaked around your waist.
The group looked at him in doubt and Elena was first to fight, “let go, Klaus.” He shook his head. Elena felt insulted. She wasn’t about to leave her friend in pain. “I said let go.”
Your boyfriend only laughed. He would never listen to a human’s orders – unless they were yours, of course. You felt your body tense at the group’s more serious expressions. They weren’t going to let him disrespect your needs.
“Let us heal our friend,” Stefan argued. There was a flame in his eyes. There was no doubt he would’ve pounced if Niklaus did something reckless. But you trusted your boyfriend, and he would never put you at risk like that.
“No,” Niklaus smiled. He threw his wrist in their face for dramatic effect before he tore into his own skin and offered you to drink. You took it. In front of your friends, you drank the enemy’s blood, and Caroline wanted to puke.
“That’s disgusting,” she expressed, her nose flared in discomfort.
Niklaus only tilted his head in amusement and watched as you wiped the blood from your mouth. “Thanks, Nik,” you acknowledged before you stood and dusted the dirt from your knees. He followed after you.
“Nik? We’re giving the Mikaelson’s nicknames now?” If Caroline’s mouth fell any wider, thousands of bugs would’ve flown into her throat. She was surprised you were in the forest with him in the first place, and now you were shortening his name. It was something she never wanted to witness.
But her words raised a cheeky smile onto your lips, and you scrunched your eyebrows in sarcastic confusion. “The Mikaelsons?” you asked, misleadingly. “I don’t recall having nicknames for all of them…”
In unison, their eyebrows raised; a sight that made you want to crack a laugh. “If anything, I only recall renaming my boyfriend…”
Elena wanted to cry.
