Alexandra Feodorovna (6 June [O.S. 25 May] 1872 – 17 July 1918), Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine at birth, was the last Empress of Russia as the consort of Emperor Nicholas II from their marriage on 26 November [O.S. 14 November] 1894 until his forced abdication on 15 March [O.S. 2 March] 1917. who are your fancasts for the grishaverse characters in your fics? is there a particular actor/fanart you have in mind

Oooh this is tricky! I rarely envision a full-on face for anyone in a book, and since the trilogy was told from Alina's first person POV I sort of 'saw' it through her eyes and didn't think about what she looked like too much.

For the Darkling ... it took me a while to realize what I'd assigned to him, but it's totally the lower half of a younger Neil Patrick Harris' face (skin color, jaw line, cheekbones – pictures under the cut because yes I am a little embarrassed about it). Zoya and Genya are mostly just defined in my head as black and red hair, respectively, framing the most beautiful (but unspecified) faces I have ever seen :) The first still photos I saw when they cast Patrick Gibson as Nikolai were actually extremely on point for what I'd had in my head ... but even when it's more specific, my mental images are pretty loosely held – there's rarely art of book characters that feels wrong to me.

The one thing I have firmly in my head for Alina and Aleksander when I'm writing is height, because that matters for how they interact with each other and the world. Their heights aren't well-established in canon (or if they are, I missed it), so to avoid running into problems where I was making them do things that physically didn't make sense I gave the characters the same eleven-inch height difference I have with my partner, just sized them each down an inch or two so Aleks isn't obnoxiously tall.

Okay here is how I see the lower half of Neil Patrick Harris' face being the Darkling. I do not assume anyone else will endorse this, ever, under any circumstances, but here you are.

From those, Ive already used? Our guys going to halloween (some day Im going to draw them finally) in full costumes. It is impossible on so many levels, yet IT HAPPENS in my brain!

From those, I secretly have, but haven't yet mentioned... Nikolai once took Price for mushroom hunting and lost him in the woods. He had to ask Ghost for help to find his friend. Nikolai freaked out, he was on the verge of starting a searching campaign with helicopter.

Ok, I can't put A heart here, because, this story is so much about a context - I would probably need a series to explain everything...

But I actually am a bid fan of short movies (like 15-25 minutes long). And I think, Best part of his life can make a good one. It will be very metaphorical, very 'theater-like'. But it won't need any context, I won't even need to explain to the audience, what is Call of Duty, or who is König. This story works well as an idea.

oooooh, this one!!! Because at this very moment these two characters are absolutely honest with each other. Neither he nor she hides behind anything. And to see Nik kneeling down, looking her in the eyes, as if he witnesses the most important moment of his life... This just makes me weak.

And gosh sorry, your ask has been collecting dust in my inbox, despite asking about one of my OTPs, you had the unfortunate timing of sending it while I was in the middle of my Shadow and Bone binge so my mindset was super not in Shadowhunters. Different shadows *grins*

I always have thoughts on Jace and Magnus! They're one of my all time favorite ships! Overall thoughts? Like, the beauty of their parallels as the sons wronged by their fathers, seeking love? Strong and capable but soft at heart and masking that with sex and sarcasm?

Also, I'm sorry, but people are sleeping way to hard on this THEY WERE LITERALLY ROOMMATES C'MON. Their canon dynamic had so much potential but they were slept on so hard.

And oh the eyes. For one that thing about Magnus having a weakness for blue-eyed boys, c'mon. But for another, Magnus feeling so lonely because nobody has eyes like him and his father. And though Jace's golden eyes are different, he too has golden-glowing eyes that other him from his people. And I just want my golden-eyed boys to be happy with each other.

Also, honestly, my Shadow and Bone binge did make me think of my boys.

Because prior to s2, I did actually fancast Dom as Nikolai, because... blonde snarky pretty boy. I liked the actor who did it in the end, but after seeing the season I still think that Dom would have been a fantastic cast.

So I'm currently cooking up a semi-related fic, Malace, which is Jagnus plus Alec, and I am intensely excited because I've had the worst writer's block I've had in years and this is actually the first fic idea I've had in months.

I love it. I hate it. I'm so happy about how they used the budget and the casting. I want to murder the writers and the producers. If you've roamed through the tag you must have already read a post that sounds like this and it's my thoughts exactly.

I would say that, as an adaptation of the Grisha trilogy, it was pretty good and the things that I loathed about it were the same that I hated in the book. I had mistakenly hoped the writers would bring more nuance and deviate a little from the source in the ideological battle going on between Alina and the Darkling, bc it's really fucking stupid in the books lol. Also, my first impression of the dude playing Nikolai being underwhelming was right. He put me to sleep even though his acting felt excessive to the point of being amateurish. I did like the little change they did in the finale, bc it's full of potential for things I know the writers are not brave enough to do with her character.

The rest I can't complain about. What little we saw of Tolya and Tamar I adored, Jessie Mei Li stole my heart yet again, and so did all the other women, the Crows were perfect and I have no complaints about them (but again, I didn't read their book). Once again, Calaham/Matthias reminded me of our Cal so strongly I can't believe he was stolen from our hypothetical RQ TV fancast. Unacceptable.

He completely has the range! He also has the looks and whenever I think about Nikolai's witty sarcastic ass Ubbe just fits like a glove.
