As most hcs with this mf starts, it took forever for him to finally trust you, let alone get into a relationship with you

I mean, can you blame him really? He's lost a lot, he's gone through a ton of shit, it's kinda to be expected

He talked to Rouge one day about how he felt more comfortable around you than others and she teased him relentlessly

"Shadoooow, you like them?"

"I prefer them over others, if that answers your question. Why are you making that face?"

Lowkey funny thing, when it finally hits him that he liked you he tries to figure out why he likes you.

At first he thinks maybe it's your looks so he stares at you a lot trying to pinpoint what part of you he likes, but he's got a rbf so it concerns you gravely

"Shadow are you angry at Y/n?"

Then he theorizes that it must be something from your personality. So he starts asking you a ton of questions randomly, but like, theoretical questions

Finally he realizes that it's not something in particular, he just likes you

He reveals this revelation to Rouge and she snorts lmao

She sets up a whole date-confession-thing without either of your knowledge to get Shadow to confess

⌗ it wasn’t as easy as it appeared from a distance, but it was still fun to do! a few sets later it would become a little more easier, and sugawara tossed in a way that was feasible enough for you to hit

I def did NOT have the confidence to post it publicly, but I figured why not!! I’m doing this for myself!! I enjoy it!! That’s, like, the cool part of writing is that, and get this: you can write whatever YOU want. Crazy, right?????

Now, the hardest part is getting it on paper. Once you get over that hill, it’s literally so chill after that. What I do is I literally just list out specific things I want to happen for sure, and I list them chronologically, from beginning to end of the chapter, Drabble, etc. I also list certain dialogue that I want to be said as well, putting them chronologically, too. I do this because I find it easy to build sort of a “scene” off of them. Call it a skeleton, if you will. Then the rest of it sort of just… comes along. Outlines r literally my bffs <3 It might also help to literally just write out what the idea is specifically; what I mean is what sparked the idea? Is it a specific action? Is it a line someone said? Is it a specific occasion? Specific location? Just take note of it, and if u read it n draw a blank, come back to it later. Also, I promise, the light bulbs are gonna come at you in the most randomest of times… trust, it will come to you while ur, like, lying in bed at 3am, about to fall asleep.

what made you realize you have npd?

LMAO it's kind of embarrassing to say but long story short, it was kaiser 💀

(i should put a disclaimer here though that i haven't been officially diagnosed yet, but i hope i'll be able to talk to someone about it soon)

i wanted to write fics involving kaiser, but i wanted to make sure i was writing his POV properly. it involved a lot of re-reading the diagnostic criteria, looking through the actually npd tag here, and finding youtubers who spoke about their experiences. using all that, i started writing kaiser's POV, but i started noticing i started projecting a LOT.

i re-read all the diagnostic criteria AGAIN but while trying to see if any of it applied to me. not everything applies, but there was enough. enough stuff happened in my early childhood to have made me develop NPD too. i took a few quizzes that don't necessarily diagnose you but point out whether or not you have a bunch of narcissistic traits (my score was scarily high 💀)

but yeah basically i took several days to rethink everything in my life and realized, "wow. i think i might actually be a narcissist 💀". it was a lot of recontextualizing major relationships and realizing certain stuff in my life might have negatively affected me more than i realized. one of the biggest things that made me begin to really accept it beyond things related to fiction was how weirdly codependent i got with another person who exhibits a lot of narcissistic traits.

this video has really made me recontextualize every romantic and platonic relationship i've created from the past few years cuz like damn. i do all that.

i don't really wanna break down everything that applies to me, but yeah. there's a lot. i scared myself a lot back then whenever things got too bad, and i still scare myself sometimes, but at least now i know why i do the things i do 💀

One thing I dislike in season 5 is how the characters are often dumbed down just to fit, for the plot sake. The kids, in particular, seem to reach a point where Eddy can literally come up with any lie or scam (the forever-summer scam, the mole mutants, the booster shot day, the egghead Ed, a new kid Carl) and the kids will immediately buy completely without a question (even Kevin of all people). In earlier seasons, as gullible as the kids could be, they still kept a skepticism degree and were quicker to recognize something as a poorly manufactured scam (at least some of them).

So, of course, all the characters sound so out-of-character in season 5 (except maybe the Kankers)...

yeah i agree to some extent. i'm always hesitant to criticize s5 cuz like, who tf am i? i don't know much about the behind the scenes, etc., etc.. but i agree that it is very different in a lot of ways that stand out. if you view the differences in characterization as intentional, it's kind of interesting.

eddy is absolutely off the rails and is at his most volatile in s5. even his laugh is more villainous lmao. i liked kevin lordi's comment that he seems depressed as hell later on in the series. makes sense to me, i mean we see how he struggles in school, and how he gets treated there. you can't just leave when things get bad, either. i gotta say, i feel like they ramped up the eddy torture p*rn in s5. i might be biased though.

edd is also utterly unhinged. viewing the gradual changes in him as intentional (aka me over analyzing), i see that he's reached PEAK neuroticism. the guy is about to snap and eventually does in bps. frankly, i find him unbearable but it's all character growth in my mind. school is a source of stress for him as well, but for different reasons. also, he and eddy are a lot nastier to each other in this season.

with ed, i'm not really sure what angle to come at it from. if i stick by what i said before, then his over the top oafishness is likely a result of hardcore dissociating. maybe he ALSO really hates school and so his brain just shuts down. literally. you could also theorize that he took one too many bumps on the head (just kidding).

realistically though i think he's the easiest source of comedic relief for what is, after all, a kids' show. perhaps it became a bit of a crutch while they created some really great character driven episodes.

like fistful of ed, too smart for his own ed, cleanliness is next to edness, and, pick an ed. lots of edd focused episodes in s5.

to your specific point, i guess i see what you mean. but i've always wondered why the kids would fall for anything eddy does after like s2 lmao. s5 isn't the first time we learn that the cul-de-sac kids aren't very bright. they do all have moments of skepticism, and yes, especially kevin. in see no ed, he's shown to be borderline paranoid about the eds which is goddamn hilarious to me. but most of the time they'll all be skeptical at first, yet still end up taking the bait and acting shocked.

(by the way: kevin deserved sooooo much worse than what happened in this won't hurt an ed - which was ultimately nothing. eddy ended up being the one getting hurt at the end of the episode.

kevin is ruthless and flat out cruel to eddy. he's the definition of a bully. he's shown to be pretty normal toward everyone else in the neighborhood, including ed and edd when they interact one on one. with eddy, he has this abnormal and unhealthy hatred for the kid. it's really funny.)

in pick an ed, edd says its obvious that 'carl' is just eddy in disguise. eddy looks worried until ed falls for it. to me that implies that eddy thinks the kids are dumb as a bag of hammers. and he was right!

my thing with eddy is, don't hate the player, hate the game. it's hard for me to feel bad for someone who gets "scammed" or pranked over and over. if kevin wanted to, he could be the hero of the cul-de-sac and put an end to the scams by simply sharing his over-abundance of jawbreakers with the eds. but he's a dick, so he doesn't. the kids are also to blame not just for being such easy marks, but for never leaving jawbreakers for the eds when kevin shares with them. eddy's biggest mistake was waiting around long enough after getting paid for them to catch on.

summary: i used to also view s5 as a "dip in quality" until i saw a post where someone argued that the changes could and should be viewed as character growth/development over flanderization. both things can be true! and there are plenty of REALLY good, fun episodes and moments in the season.

I am alive! After a long delay (forced to work in office for 2 weeks killed me), here's my post on the chosen dnd cookbook recipe!!! lmao

I chose to make the Vedbread! They're mushroom rolls with cheese. Not exactly a meal by themselves, but I just really wanted to try them so bad lmao

The recipe calls for a different kind of mushroom but they say you can use shiitake, so that's what I went for. I had to buy a lot of shiitake sdfsg

Anyway, let us begin!

First thing to do is to dice the mushroom. I unfortunately don't have a food processor yet so I had to do it by hand. It...took a while.You cook the mushroom with salt and butter until the moisture is gone and they're all nice and grilled. You also dice some shallots and cook them with! And finally when this is all cooked you remove from the heat and add parmesan and fresh thyme. I'll admit I didn't feel like spending the extra money for fresh parmesan so I just used the cheap stuff I had in my fridge, which I admit probably changed the flavor but it was still tasty so wtv!

While this is cooking and smelling delicious you prep the dough. Shred some gruyère and all that.

The shredded cheese goes directly into the dough! It's a chunky dough. You have to knead it just enough thats its smooth and incorporated. Then you have to spread it in a rectangle, which was somewhat challenging due to my lack of tools and preparation lmao. Ignore the ball of saran wrap I dont wanna talk about it

Then you spread the mushroom mixture all over this nice rectangle!

Struggle number 2, rolling it up in an even tube! Mine was not even at all but it was a tube! Then you have to try and cut it into equal pieces. Mine were....not equal pieces but the show much go on! They tell you to trim off and discard the ends but since there's no eggs in the dough I just ate it. Which legally I can't recommend bc raw flour can also be bad for you (more likely to, iirc) so do as I say, not as I do!

FINALLY you place them side-up on a baking sheet and brush them with an egg wash! And then you pop them in the oven!!! And then you take them out and be in awe and the delicious rolls you have just created!!

These were super good! And I'm saying as someone who generally doesn't like cooked mushrooms, but I've been making an effort with shiitake lol. If you like the general flavor of shiitake but don't really like the texture of cooked mushrooms, I really liked these bc the mushrooms are minced really small! The cheese is also really good. They kept SUPER well at room temp in an airtight container and they reheat in the oven really quickly and for the entire week that I've eaten them they tasted always fresh after a little trip in the oven. This was definitely a nat20 on recipe choice!

Those of you who were looking forward to this I apologize for the time it took but I changed projects at work and it's been a nightmare lmao. I'll probably be stuck in office for a week and a half soon again so I probably won't do the next poll within that time, but hopefully soon. I might do a noodle recipe from one of the star wars cookbooks tho just cuz i feel like it. I haven't actually cooked a whole lot lately bc of work :'D So I kinda miss it. Anyway I hope that was mildly entertaining, and get out there and make yerself any kind of bread rolls bc everybody deserves breadrolls.
