if you ever wonder if i ever had “normal” weird dreams well it starts with a naked onew (like usual) skipping around a garden until he falls into a pit and them he comes across a recording set for a dating show which was similar to the uk show “take me out” (you can search it up so you understand how it works) but there were 24 girls and all of them were just nct and baekhyun dressed up as girls. the show didn’t go as normal and taemin ended up grabbing baekhyun as soon as he got buzzed off. for some reason, taeil ended up winning and he literally took off his wig in excitement. they all then took off their wigs and started dancing like it was some sort of musical. one thing about me is that i HATE musicals. in fact, i’m afraid of them. oh wow a gay man who hates musicals. yes, this is real. i hate them. so when they all started dancing, i literally screamed at them to stop dancing because they were so annoying.
then i was alone with onew. he was crying to my shoulders and he literally told me that he felt disgusting and that he wanted to chop off his- 🍆 yeah… then he saw a chicken walking and then asked me to hold him back as he tries to grab the chicken. i did just that and he seemed very angry and upset. then the chicken left and then he started crying again. then, he saw victoria again and then tried to pin himself down with a heavy log to his feet so he couldn’t get to her.
well… remember when i said that this was a normal dream? uh… it’s not. because the next thing i’ve seen looked like it came straight out of happy tree friends. (cw // gore, sui and r word)
he literally pulled himself out by literally breaking his ankles and then breaking free after 2 broken bones and tons of blood left he was there crawling towards victoria and right when he managed to grab her from the ankle, she kicked his face and then ran away. and yep, he started crying again. he crawled over to a barn and then tried to go inside of the shredder where the chicken were getting killed for food there. i tried to save him, but the dream wouldn’t let me get him and so i had to experience a suicide RIGHT in front of me where onew purposely climbed on the machine and then rode all the way to the shredder and then saw his skin and hair peeled off with blood splattered all over the place, including on myself. then suddenly he turned into a ghost and then ran out by going to victoria and then hitting her ass. she couldn’t see him, but i could for some reason so that was why she was like “what was that?” and so… he r worded her again but since she doesn’t know it was him since he was a ghost, to her it just seemed like she got naked for some reason and then cum got squirted on her somehow.
and yep… i wish i can have normal dreams… 😭
Okay, I feel the need to get your dream Onew a therapist, maybe a stay in a facility. My dreams have been quite mundane so I can find a way to your dream Onew to get him the help he needs. I haven't dreamt about Onew in like Ten years. I think it was like super normal like walking somewhere with Taemin. But I'll find my dream Onew and have him take me and a therapist to find your dream Onew. Because I am severely worried about the version of Onew that lives in your dreams. I send you a dream of Jonghyun making you a sandwich and hugging you.

Pairings: enemy, barista, student!jaemin x student, barista!reader.
<previous next>
Warnings: fluff, angst if you squint real hard
Tumblr media
Anger and frustration was the only way to describe it. Plus the lingering feeling of humiliation when jaemin didn't give a direct answer. Students eyed the two of you, mostly you for your braveness to even confront the boy which was shocking from their point of view, knowing all too well of your history with each other.
For once though, you've seen jaemin hesitate and stutter with an answer. It was quite something really, and you couldn't believe it.
And it wasnt like it was a yes or no answer, he only blurted out, "W-we have tu-tutor sessions...later...." and walked away after a few seconds of looking at you. God, and everyone was whispering among themselves and friends like it was the hottest topic, which in a strange sense it kind of was.
You dragged yourself back to the table where yeri sat and put your head in your arms.
You felt stupid. This wasn't how you thought your day would go, nor did you think jaemin would say something like that. Instead, you thought jaemin would for sure say yes. The things he said, the way he acted, jaemin couldve passed as your boyfriend and you thought maybe now it was possible.
"Y/n are you okay?" Yeri put a hand on your arm and you shook your head, still buried in your arms.
"I hate him." Your voice came out muffled.
Yeri let out a long sigh, "Its going to be okay. There’s plenty of other guys you'll meet who'll be worth your time." She stopped when you lifted your head. The look on your face was melancholy and red, but she didn't know what she could do about it. "What about that taemin guy? He's pretty cute. And from what you told me, he's super nice." Yeri wiggled her eyebrow suggestively making you groan.
"I don’t want to hurt him." You frowned, not being able to imagine using him as a rebound, "I realized I don’t like him like I thought I did."
"I get it. But don't pain yourself over a boy." She shook her head and let out a quiet chuckle, "especially jaemin."
"But jaemins literally what I want. How am I supposed to ignore that?"
Yeri stuck her bottom lip out in a pout, "Its almost impossible to ignore feelings..." There was a short pause until she started again, "So maybe just...ignore him? I don’t know man, I’m not good at this stuff."
"Yeah no shit," You snorted, "but ignoring him is an option. He gets mad when I do things like that, and ignoring him would get his attention, which means," you took a deep breath and grinned, "I’d get my ass destroyed by him whenever he breaks!"
"That’s literally not at all what I meant by ignoring him."
You sat back in your seat, smiling like a maniac to yourself at the devilish plan that would possibly not end well for you.
"But it could work." You pointed out.
"Could doesn't mean would. You know what, talking to you is like talking to a brick wall." As yeri stood up and gathered her trash, you threw your pile along with hers just to annoy her. "This is why I'm your only friend."
Tumblr media
"I thought you were going over jaemins for tutoring?" Jimin asked with a raised brow at your sudden intrusion into the apartment giving him no time to put a shirt on.
"I decided not to go." You shrugged, setting your bag on the floor. In reality, it was just the start of your plan of ignoring jaemin, but you weren't going to tell jimin that.
"Huh?? But you said he was good at trig and you would fail without him." As he tilted his head in confusion, you tried to come up with an excuse.
And not even a second later, an idea popped into your head, "I’m starting to understand it better." It wasn’t far from the truth to be honest, jaemin was doing a very good job at explaining, but in reality, you weren't perfect at all.
"Liar! You suck at trig!"
Your eye twitched, "I understand it slightly better."
"I still don't believe you." Jimin shrugged, "its only been like 2 days."
"I’m a fast learner." You huffed. Sadly your roommate knew you too well for you to lie. It wasn’t surprising anymore that he could point out just one flaw.
"Another lie. Now run along, I’m watching tv." Jimin shoo'ed you away with a hand motion. It took almost all your patience not to say anything in return, but it was pointless now.
Once in your room, you threw yourself onto the bed, not caring enough to close the door as you started changing from school clothes to regular shorts and a tank top.
Now once looking back at it, today was just a weird day. It was quiet in all the classes like someone just flipped a switch and one thing that threw you off the most was that jaemin didn’t ignore you completely like you thought he would, but instead he still helped with the work you were struggling with. Other than that he never talked to you. And it wasn’t like you wanted him to, you actually didn't want him to because of your little plan.
To be expected, you got multiple texts from him wondering where you were and why you weren't at his house and each text got more and more threatening so you just put your phone on silent and decided to take a nap until work. If this is how jaemin acts when you ignore him for barely a day then it should be easier to break him then you thought.
Rolling over in your bed, you closed your eyes, ignoring the aching feeling of anxiousness in your gut and tried to get some sleep. But sleeping was almost impossible. No matter how sleepy you were, or how heavy your eyes were, sleeping just didn't want to come. And you really didn't want to go on your phone because jaemin was calling you and in a matter of time you would probably answer it because you were just a little afraid of him.
Moving out of the bed and getting ready for work was your last option. Though the amount of black pants and white shirts that were lost from your closet made you realize how much you actually worked. The last time you had a day off was during summer vacation with jimin and a few of his friends plus yeri. Its been a while, and you kind of missed the break but you can't complain too much since you're making such good money.
After throwing on the clothes and lacing up your shoes, you left after saying good bye to jimin. Its still early, but you couldn't bring yourself to pass time until work and going there wasn’t as bad as one may think.
After you got in the car, you left the apartment, driving off to the cafe. You blasted some of your music on the way, singing the lyrics loudly since no one was in the car. You gotta say, driving alone is sometimes more fun since you can do stuff like this without people judging you.
Finally at the cafe, Irene happily greeted you, not giving you time to say hi back and started jumping up and down talking about her promotion to manager. She literally looked like she'd explode any minute from too much happiness.
"I get to boss you around even more than I did before." She grinned and you playfully shoved her to get to your station.
"If that’s possible." A little fist punched your shoulder as you laughed, "I’m kidding, I’m kidding."
"Hey, I'm not that bad! But I could be worse if you’d like." You covered your mouth to stifle the laugh that would come out when she sent you a wink.
There were many orders coming up, food, smoothies, coffee, anything. It kept you, irene, and your coworkers in the back completely occupied and busy. Youd even catch yourself drifting off into space because you were working too fast, almost messing some orders up too.
"I can bring this to the customer, go work on the other orders please." Irene rushed away after you smiled and did what she wanted.
Moments passed and after a few more drinks you saw the familiar black haired man walking into the back where you stood making a drink.
Jaemin didn't look all too happy when he saw you, so you tried your best to ignore him, but its not easy to ignore someone who’s been on your mind the whole day and somehow you're just figuring that out now.
He looked nice too, well he always does, but his black hair looked particularly very good. The way it was parted yet still fell over his face on some ends, and the way some parts stuck out just looked pretty on him.
"You’re here early...again." jaemin spoke while looking up at the orders, snapping you out of your thoughts.
"I was kind of bored at home." You muttered, moving as jaemin reached over you for a cup.
"Should’ve came to my house to study, maybe you wouldn't have been so bored." He lifted an eyebrow in your direction almost tauntingly and expecting a snap back but you stayed quiet, keeping it silent for a bit.
Jaemin was doing his order, and you did yours, though it did feel like time was just dragging you slowly through the day because you were so anxious near him. You felt as if he would break if you stepped out of place even just a bit. But wasn’t that your plan in the first place?
"Why didn't you answer my texts?" Jaemin began and you looked up from the last drink you put in the tray. He had anticipated your answer as you suspired.
"I was sleeping.."It was obvious that you didn’t want to talk as you tried to walk away with the tray in hand followed by jaemin grabbing your shirt and pulling you back, the tray tipping slightly.
"Sleeping? How could you be sleeping when you read my texts? Now why are you lying to me?" Question after question, you tried wiggling out of his strong grasp and rolled your eyes to show you didn’t care. With only so much patience left, jaemin grabbed your hair, bringing your face closer to his. "I asked you a question so i suggest you answer before I spank your ass in front of everyone."
You stopped and nervously looked around the cafe to see if anyone heard him, but luckily for you everyone was minding their own business or not paying attention but still you couldn’t mask your shyness, "Y-you wouldn't do that. You're bluffing." You huffed.
Though you're not much shorter than jaemin, you felt small under his strong gaze, almost weaker near him too.
"Wanna bet?" He questioned and his sincerity was almost scary. You could feel his hand snake a bit too far down your backside and you pushed him off. "Answer me; why are you lying?"
"I don’t know." He slowly let go of your hair and ran his fingers through it. Nervousness fell over you, thinking he'd grab it again.
"You don’t know, huh." Jaemin said softly. You shook your head hoping he'd believe it.
"I-i don’t.."
Jaemin rolled his eyes, "Don’t lie or ignore me again."
"Yeah yeah whatever-" You cried when he grabbed and tugged on your hair again, making your face contort in pain, "Okay! Fine! I wont do any of that again!"
That being said, jaemin let go after giving you that natural look telling you not to push him today, or any day for that matter. "Little bitch." You mumbled.
"Call me that again, I dare you."
It took almost all of your self control to not flip him off.
Tumblr media
Lee jeno, the infamous frat boy and fuck boy on campus, was jaemins closest friend. He was gorgeous, kind, and smart, but one thing that set you off about him was he could be quite rude. Just one flaw, and it happened to only be towards you. So you wondered; 'why the hell am I asking lee jeno for help when there's a hundred more men in this school?' Because jeno was jaemins closest friend. Plain and simple. The only thing is, your brilliant plan could fail. Either way it was a fifty-fifty chance.
"Lee jeno!" You called and ran up to the boy, confused as to why you looked happy to see him when you and him don't really like each other. "I have a question."
"I might have an answer." Jeno surprisingly smiled, now you see why people were whipped.
"I want to make jaemin jealous."
He stopped in his tracks and nervously laughed, "Why would you want to do that? Of all things?"
You smiled up at him, "I wanna be a pain in his ass so I have an idea and I need your help." Jeno scratched the back of his head, still not sure where you were headed with this conversation.
"Uhh...okay what is it then?" You happily jumped when jeno gave you the go to ask.
"Can you be my fake boyfriend?"
"You’re who-what!?" Jeno choked trying to find a hint that you were joking and just testing him or something, but you were dead serious and that's what made him scared. "So you’re plan to make jaemin jealous is to date me? Damn that’s kinda smart and bit bitchy."
You frowned, "I just like making him regret certain things and testing his patience is all."
"So a bitch," he shrugged, " but how the hell would this whole thing work? You and I don’t have a really good record with each other and hes well aware of that. Jaemins not dumb." Jeno pointed out as you tilted your head in almost a ‘you’re so stupid’ manner.
“Didn’t you take acting lessons?” There was a slight delay but he nodded nonetheless, “Then just act the part, lee. Its not that hard.” you rolled your eyes with a scoff, jeno playfully slapped your shoulder.
“Its not that simple! Its you for gods sake! How am i supposed to pretend to like you?”
“I dont know, you just do it.” Shrugging off the almost annoyed yet smiling boy, you noticed someone out the corner of your eye; the devil himself. Just staring at the two of you. Surprisingly, jeno took notice of that and grabbed your hand while walking close to you, never letting his smile fall, and walked around the school building to a bench.
"That was smooth." You mumbled earning a laugh from jeno. "See, was that so hard?”
The boy rubbed the back of his neck nervously with an eye smile, “I guess not, but do you really think he’ll fall for it?”
That was a good question and if you sat and thought about it more, you probably would’ve said no, but for some reason you pushed out a yes. Jaemins a jealous and possessive boy, there’s no way this shouldn’t work.
“Hell yeah. Have I ever steered you wrong?”
“Well-”
“Don’t answer that.”
Tumblr media
Currently, you and jeno were awkwardly flirting with each other in front of jaemin at the cafe. Light touches and small smiles and giggles was kind of annoying in jaemins eyes. But this was the best plan yet.
After not going to jaemins third tutor session and ignoring multiple other calls because he didn’t bother texting anymore, you were at the cafe on your day off just to piss him off. And for some reason, this was probably the most fun, yet awkward moment in your life.
"Is he still watching?" Jeno whispered as he smiled to make it seem as if he was flirting.
You quickly glanced up and jaemin was indeed still watching, actually glaring, but you couldn't even tell if it was at you or jeno, maybe even both.
"Hes still watching." You turned and grinned at him. "He looks very mad."
"I know something to get him more mad."
"And what would that be?" Raising an eyebrow at him, jeno suddenly grabbed you by your face and kissed your cheek.
"Now look back and tell me if hes still there."
You were shocked but did as he said and sure enough, jaemin was no where to be seen, "Hes gonna kill us..."
"No just you, I’ll be gone by then." He laughed when you sent him a glare. "This was your plan not mine."
"And this will for sure end my life later on," You faced jeno, "When was the last time he was really mad?"
Jeno sat back to think about it and let go of your hand that you forgot he was holding, "He got into a fight with one of our friends just a few months ago. You know donghyuck, right?"
You nodded your head. Of course you knew donghyuck, he was the biggest brat of them all and out of every one of jaemins friends, you got along with him pretty well, turning out to be very good friends. You haven't talked to him in few weeks though, college kind of messed some things up for you guys but you still try to keep in contact as much as possible.
"Well a few months ago jaemin and hyuck got into this huge fight."
"Was it as bad as that time mark and hyuck fought?" You asked and jeno shook his head.
"No it was probably worse. Jaemin was almost in a fist fight with him--actually no I think they did end up physically fighting." Jeno sighed, "Anyways jaemin was super cold to everyone and got into a lot of fights with some other people like me," he giggled at the thought, "It was also around the time he dumped coffee on your head."
Only jeno could bring back that stupid coffee incident and make you remember when you wanted to commit a murder.
"That was one of the worst things hes done to me don’t make me think of that." You whined, throwing your head back, "And hes done a lot of bad things."
Jeno grinned, he was standing next to jaemin at the time laughing at you. In his perspective it was funny, but for you, it was not.
"Not gonna lie it was kind of funny, but I did feel a bit bad."
"Woah. You felt bad for me!? Who the hell are you?" You said dramatically making jeno throw his head back in laughter.
"Someone who actually has remorse," He looked you up and down before starting again, "for some people."
You huffed, "And to think you were becoming nice." Jeno giggled one last time but it quickly faded away when a hand slammed on the table.
Both of you looked up at the boy with jet black hair, he was none too happy with all your laughing and 'flirting', and wanted to interrupt it the best he could.
"Hey jeno," jaemin nodded his head in his friends direction, somehow managing to make his anger dissolve into a real smile.
"Whats up?" Jeno smiled.
You sat back staring at the two, jaemins eyes were locked onto jenos and his hand was still sitting there. They were like statues.
"Oh you know...working and watching you dumbasses flirt." Jaemin painfully grit his teeth, still holding a smile and you tried not to laugh.
Out of all things you found cute, it was jaemins poor attempt at trying not to be angry or jealous. It was like watching a rom-com but in real life.
"Its disgusting." Jaemin mumbled.
He turned towards you, but with no smile like you didn’t deserve one which in this case you was probably true since this was your idea in the first place.
"I've never seen you come here on your day off. Isn't that a bit strange?"
"Jeno wanted something sweet," you lied, "and we have the best sweets. What, can I not come here on my day off?” Man did jaemin find you annoying right now. It was getting to the point that talking to you was becoming a chore. Either he couldn’t talk to you because you ignored him or you started speaking in ways that made his eye twitch.
"You're gonna be in so much trouble later." Jaemin muttered low enough for you to hear. Jeno smirked at jaemins words too, knowing this was working way too well for you. "I should get back to work before irene gets mad and you guys should get going too."
You raised a brow, "And why is that?"
"Jeno always brings his dates home to fuck."
"If you're jealous then just say it." You growled.
Jaemin looked between you and a red faced jeno and snickered, "Im not jealous, I already had my turn." He winked and walked away leaving you and jeno staring at each other with wide eyes.
"I...feel like this didn’t go as we intended.." jeno laughed but with no emotion, almost in a sadistic way.
You puffed out your cheeks, not sure what to do now that jaemin was playing like this too.
"I should bring you back home." He started standing but you grabbed his hand to stop him.
"No wait.” He looked down at you, “Isn't there a party later?"
"Yeah?" jeno tilted his head, wondering why you’re asking this question when you never go to any of the frat party’s.
"Lucas is throwing it right?" Jeno nodded his head and you perked up, "Can we go?"
It was a strange request, you never wanted to go to any parties because you worked and studied whenever you felt the need to, so parties were never on your mind. But right now, you felt that a party is what you need. You've never been but it can't be that bad if you're with someone. And you even know the host so there should be other people you know too. It would be fun anyway.
"If you really want to, but you might lose me at some point."
"That’s okay," your face said otherwise, "I’ll try to find someone I know." It wasn’t likely that you would, but you knew that the main people who were going to go was hyuck and lucas. There was also jaehyun and johnny, the only thing was you didn’t know them as well as hyuck or lucas and ever talked to them a few times. They were nice, but you probably wouldn't go up to them and strike up a conversation.
"Alright then let's go, the party’s gonna start in like two hours. And seeing how long it took you just to get ready for this stupid date, you’re probably gonna need it." Jeno pulled you up by the hand that stopped him before, and you both walked out of the cafe.
You got into jenos car and put on your seat belt waiting patiently for him to drive off. The only problem was that he was busy on his phone, trying to find music to play.
"Don’t look at me like that." Jeno did a double take at your unamused face that clearly stated you wanted to leave so you can get ready for the party.
"Then pick a damn song and let's go." You smacked his thigh repeatedly causing him to groan and put his playlist on shuffle, driving off after hitting play. "See, that wasn’t so hard now was it?"
"Your’e annoying. I cant believe i even said yes to this fake dating thing. Now I see why jaemin didn’t respond."
"Hey that's not very nice," you pouted, "and don't make me think of that for God sake, its depressing."
"Good now shut up and let me drive." And so you did, letting just the music and jenos quiet singing be the only thing playing in your ears.
It was a quick ride anyway from your job to the apartment, jimin was doing his normal thing which was sitting on the couch shirtless and watching dramas. The little up and down he gave jeno wasn't unseen by you either, but you never commented as you walked by with a smirk.
Jeno was close behind you too almost like a lost puppy. He even sat on your bed and watched you apply a bit of make up for the party and lazily lounged about as you picked an outfit, not sure whether to go with an innocent pink flowy skirt, or black ripped jeans.
"I like the skirt better," jeno hoisted himself on the bed, "it gives me better access-"
"Don’t even think about it!" You whipped a pillow straight to his head, he wasn’t quick to dodge as it hit him perfectly where you wanted it to, "I’m about to choose the jeans."
The boy tilted his head as he pouted at the two choices in your hand, Jeno preferred the innocent look on women but this wasn’t for him--in fact it wasn’t for anyone except yourself, but he couldn’t stop from staring at the pretty baby pink skirt.
"How about you try them on and pick which one you think looks better on you." He smiled that eye smile of his after having a little war with himself.
You nodded your head and rushed to the bathroom to throw on one of the bottoms first.
Once you came back, you stood in front of jeno with the jeans on and checked yourself out in the mirror. It hugged your waist sweetly and complimented your legs well, but you didn’t think this was going to be the winner out of the two.
"Okay maybe a skirt would look better." You whispered loud enough for jeno to hear.
"Told you! Skirts suit you better anyways." Jeno sat against the headboard in victory as you went back to change into a skirt. The only thing left was a top, but jeno seemed to already have that covered when he threw a white laced bralette at your face. "This is cute." He made heart eyes at the bralette you held up.
"It is but don't you think it would show too much?" You questioned, though you couldn’t lie that you were a bit tempted to wear it though it did cut a bit low.
"Dude its fine, a lot of other girls wear way worse stuff than what I just gave you."
You decided to trust jenos words, and left to put on the shirt. Unsurprisingly it looked amazing with the skirt and your beautiful skin. So maybe jeno was good at picking clothes out, but you wouldn't tell him that.
After doing any last few touches you had, you and jeno left after saying goodbye to jimin, who was still checking jeno out, and left for the party.
"You’re not gonna change?" You wondered as you sat in the car.
Jeno shrugged and smiled, "I’m a guy so I don't care what I wear."
"Thats cap."
Jeno rolled his eyes and began driving to the destination. Sometime during the ride you snatched his phone to find a good song to play, ignoring the boy who whined as you took it from him.
After finding a song and placing the phone back down, you carelessly started belching the lyrics out to purposely irritate jeno who was struggling to not pull the car over and leave.
"Y/n, who sings this song?"
"Michael Jackson, why?"
"Please keep it that way."
"I-"
"And we are here!!" Jeno slammed on his breaks and peacefully left the car as if he didn’t just insult your singing. You got out, a bit intimidated by the crowd of people standing outside dancing with drinks in hand while others smoked. Girls all in tight shirts that hugged them perfectly or the shorts that made their ass pop almost literally. Boys being boys by taking shots or chugging their beer in competitions. This was all new to you and somehow you found yourself clinging onto jenos arm like a little girl.
"Is it always this crowded?" You looked up waiting for his answer.
"Yeah but that's because it's lucas' party. He always knows how to bring people in," he looked around at some of the unfamiliar faces that were chilling by the entrance, "c’mon let's go inside."
Jeno dragged you in like you were the lightest thing and passed you a cup once at a table filled with drinks.
"Want something. Maybe a shot?" Jeno winked as you scoffed.
You looked between the variety of drinks, they were all too strong or too bitter for your liking because of your lack of drinking so it only made your face scrunch, "These are all disgusting."
"Oh come on! Don't tell me you're a light weight!" Jeno complained but needless to say he still grabbed your cup, barely filling it with some alcohol and handed it back.
You looked at the somewhat dark liquid and sniffed it. Not the sweetest scent, but it is what it is. Tilting your head back, you drank the small amount that jeno gave you and he watched with wide eyes as you coughed at the intense flavor. Something like a mix of cinnamon.
"...you just drank fireball.." jeno mumbled but you were still focused on the burning sensation in the back of your throat. It definitely isn’t a smooth drink and its fairly strong, something you can't take, but you shook the cup in his face for more, "Are you trying to get wasted?"
"Well we are at a party-"
"Y/NNN!!!!" A voice interrupted the conversation and you both turned to see none other than lucas himself running towards you with wide arms, two cups in hand, and a huge smile on his face. "I haven't seen you in so long!!" Lucas engulfed you in a bear crushing hug making jeno laugh behind you.
"You saw me last week." You said in his chest, still being crushed by the giant.
"That’s a long time for some people, be considerate man." Lucas let go, drinking out of the cup in his right hand. "So what brought you here? You never come to parties."
"I asked jeno-"
Lucas spat out his drink, "Jeno!?" He looked behind you to jeno smiling and waving at him. "I think i drank too much cuz im seeing shit." He stared into his drink.
Jeno chuckled and took the other drink out of lucas' hand, "You aren't seeing things." He started drinking from the cup and Lucas frowned watching the younger. "She just wanted to come with me for some reason."
Lucas looked at you and you nodded back, "Then now that you're here, get drunk so we can play games."
"More fireball?" Jeno lifted the bottle up and Lucas nodded.
"More fireball."
Tumblr media
You shouldn't have taken more than 2 shots of fireball. It was impossible for you to think straight, in fact, you found yourself sitting on jenos lap with him being equally as drunk, well, maybe not as bad but still pretty hammered.
There were even times where you both would start flirting with no context. From someone else's point of view, it was probably funny, but to you and him, it was like you wanted to get into each others pants.
"Look," jeno lazily pointed over to the entrance where seulgi walked in with jaemin close behind. "I have a plan if you wanna do it."
"Hmm," you frowned at the two, jaemin was smiling at seulgi who was talking his ear off and giving him subtle flirtatious hints while she walked to the drink table, "Sure what is it?"
Smirking, jeno moved his hand lower on your waist, "Promise you won't kill me after this?"
"Depends on what you're gonna do."
Jeno reached to take a sip of beer, knowing that after this night he'd be throwing up from all the drinking, "Ill do it when he looks over."
A drunken pout sat on your face as you were so curious to know what he had in mind, but jeno still grinned at your behavior, rubbing up and down on your waist.
What shocked you the most was when jeno suddenly put his lips on yours. You've figured out by now that this was his plan so you didn't push him off.
Though you couldn't see it, jenos was staring into jaemins eyes as he smirked against your lips. It was like he beat jaemin at something and came up to the top for once. But you were too focused in making out with jeno to even notice the burning eyes in your back, watching as jeno gripped your hips and kissed you back hungrily like a devil. He tasted like alcohol and you couldn't say you were any sweeter, but maybe it was the intoxication that made you start to enjoy this moment a little more than you should’ve.
"W-what the hell...?" Jeno pulled back hesitantly looking behind you. Trying to look back, jeno took you by the face making you look at him, "Please only look at me."
"Whyyyy?" You leaned into his hand and jeno almost softened up but clenched his jaw in return.
"Drink some water." He changed the subject, handing you his bottle of water that he kept with him the entire time for whenever any of you needed it, and right now seemed like the time.
You swatted his hand away, almost spilling the water and started, "But I wanna look."
"Unless you want to see jaemin shoving his tongue down seulgis throat, I suggest you don’t."
"Hes what!??"
Jeno giggled like a little school girl probably from your furious face, "Its what you get, so don't even get mad when you do the same thing."
"But you’re the one who kissed me first, I only went along with it." Your growled and took a heavy chug from the water you pushed away. "I’m mad at you."
"Should’ve pushed me off."
"I figured you did it for a reason."
"Then don’t get mad."
"I- you- I'm gonna be mad!!"
Jeno rubbed his temples like you were the most infuriating thing known to man. He doesn't know how jaemin could put up with you and hes amazed how far he got with your antics. It was ticking him off but he didn't want to just drop you now, it was still somewhat fun.
"We should go dance." You looked towards the many groups of sweaty people grinding on each other, having a good time enjoying the party. You sighed, it would be fun you thought.
Jeno perked up at your sudden mood change noticing how you weren't in the slightest mad anymore, now registering that you have mood swings when you're drunk or tipsy.
"I don’t dance."
"Don’t lie! You're literally a dancer, c’mon!" You got up off his lap and hoisted him up, bringing him to the dance floor. He placed his hands on your hips as you moved against him, just letting the music flow through you and let your body move on its own.
You didn’t actually care if jaemin saw you grinding on his best friend because right now, you were actually having fun. Maybe it was because you were wasted or maybe it was because of the excitement and happiness here that made you love it so much. Either way, you found joy just dancing with jeno.
"Isn't this fun?" You moved your head to smirk at him, but jeno seemed a bit uncomfortable.
"Maybe if you weren't grinding on me, I'd say yes, but right now it's a hard no."
You knew what he meant and that’s why you pushed back a bit. Stopping when he gripped your hips in a way that hurt a bit.
"Stop it y/n." He whispered in your ear.
You whined and said, "Make me." Jeno stood back, not sure what to do right now. He may be a fuck boy but he has boundaries. Plus you’re drunk and don’t know what you’re saying.
"We should go home."
"But I wanna dance and have fun with you!!" You voice came out slurred and jeno automatically took another step back.
"Not gonna happen, you’re wasted." Grabbing your hand, he walked towards the front door so he could bring you home, but of course this would be the perfect time for jaemin to stop him.
"Whats wrong with her?" His voice was laced with concern seeing your current state; droopy eyes, and a way too happy smile.
"Shes drunk so I’m taking her back home." Jeno tried walking passed but jaemin stopped him again. If jeno wasn’t as drunk or tispy, jaemin probably would’ve let him bring you back, but jaemin couldn’t be so sure and wanted you safe. Plus, he may or may not be a bit mad at jeno.
"No stay, I can bring her back." Jaemin pushed, not because he wanted to show you discipline for the last few days, but because he was genuinely worried for your current state.
"What about seulgi?"
Jaemin looked back at the girl who was now talking with some of her friends, clearly not paying attention or taking notice of his disappearance. "She'll be fine." He brushed it off, "Lemme take y/n."
It took a few seconds for jeno to let go of your hand and stand back for jaemin to take you before you fell over. But he was so gentle with you, and because of that jeno was sure jaemin wouldn’t do anything bad to you.
"Be careful." Jeno said, jaemin nodded back and walked away with you slightly stumbling down the stairs just after he said that.
You started giggling at yourself while jaemin was actually struggling to keep you up. Somehow though, he made it to the car before you tripped and out your seat belt on before climbing in the drivers seat.
"Nana, where are we going?" You slurred.
Jaemin smiled at the little nickname you never used, "To my house if that’s fine with you."
"Your house is nice." Leaning against the window, you rested your head as you started zoning out.
Jaemin didn't mind though, he wanted you to get some rest, at least before he got to his house so he could put you to bed. But it wasn't like you'd sleep for long because the drive was only 5 minutes.
When jaemin started carrying you out, that was when you started putting up a fight. Not only was jaemin try his best to not get angry, but he also tried to reason with himself when you started whining and pushing him away. Either sweet talk or show who's in charge.
"Y/n please cut it out, I’m just bringing you to my room." Jaemin groaned, struggling to keep you still in his arms.
"But I wanna walk."
"You can barely walk right now."
You didn’t care and continued moving around and kicking his arms away trying to get him to put you down, but just like you--he was stubborn and he carried you the whole way to his bed.
Softly putting you down, he went to grab some clothes for you. When he came back you already discarded your skirt and were about to take your bralette off until jaemin stopped you.
"What are you doing?" He pulled your hand away from the strap.
"I wanna play with you."
Jaemin shook his head at your sad face and pulled your body closer to his so he could start getting you changed, "Its almost 3am and you're drunk." but you whined once he rejected you.
“So what? Im still giving you my consent anyway.” You said, smiling at him as he took your top off, quickly putting a shirt on to cover you up. He wondered how you could wear such a tight top without feeling uncomfortable.
“You're not giving me full consent, y/n. I’m not gonna take advantage of you.” He stepped away after dressing you. Jaemin had only put a shirt on you and just left you in your underwear since it seemed the most comfortable.
Jaemin changed too, only wearing sweatpants and no shirt because he was most comfortable that way himself, and crawled into bed with you. Somehow you found yourself already snuggled into his chest, breathing in his delicious cologne.
“Goodnight nana.” you mumbled into his chest.
“Goodnight princess,” jaemin hesitated for a second before speaking again, “nana loves you.”
Tumblr media
You woke up to a painful headache and an empty bed. You knew where you were at least, but didn’t know how you got here. The last think you remembered was sitting with lucas, jeno and some other people playing a game of beer pong. That was probably when you got hammered, but why where you at jaemins house?
As much as you wanted to sit up and go find jaemin, your headache is what kept you in bed.
“Jaemin!!” You screamed, the sound of feet came running up the stairs.
“What is it? Are you okay? Do you need water? Medicine?” Question after question and jaemin seemed worried at your distressed state.
“Medicine and water would be nice actually.” You murmured and jaemin was already on his way to get what you needed.
Jaemin handed you two pills and a glass of ice water. You thanked him and took them, swallowing both the pills and the water at the same time.
“Do you need anything else?” His face still held concern and you almost wondered why he wasn’t mad at you like he had been for the past few days. Though you easily brushed it off as a sign that maybe he let you off the hook.
“No I’m good now.” You shook your head causing jaemin to sigh in relief and fall on the bed next to you. He gave you space, letting you cuddle and wrap yourself up in his blankets assuming that you were trying to find ways to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. And as much as he wanted to hold you, he was almost too scared to. It was funny really. Jaemin; the most out-going yet introverted person ever, was too scared to touch you right now.
Maybe it was his feelings getting the best of him or maybe he was too scared to finally fall in love with someone hes afraid of hurting in the end.

Oh, he was so perfect! So freaking flawless you couldn’t take your eyes off him for a second!
You had just got to Hoseok’s party with Yuta, but it seemed, to Jungkook, like he had been staring at you for hours. You hadn’t spared him a look yet, and if he hadn’t stood up from his seat on the couch to greet you, you probably wouldn’t have even known he was there too. You were too busy looking at your boyfriend, all wide-eyed and agape lips, to notice his presence behind you. But then Yuta’s eyes hardened as he crossed eyes with your best friend, and you, of course, noticed his change of behaviour and looked over your shoulder.
“Oh! Hi Kook!” you squealed and immediately threw your arms around his neck. Jungkook quickly enveloped your waist in his muscular arms, lifting you from the floor. “God, I missed you so much these last days! Where have you been?” you asked against the skin of his neck. And Jungkook smiled, discretely taking a sniff from your hair.
“I’ve been where I always am. You’re the one who disappeared,” he said, humorously - but not so much, because he actually meant to throw that in your face, but he wouldn’t stand the idea of making you feel bad over anything, ever.
“Oh God, blame Yuta here!” you said, raising your eyebrows and chuckling softly as he let you back on the floor. “Yuta, this is Jungkook, my best friend.” You presented him, and he held out his hand in Yuta’s direction, out of pure courtesy.
“Hey man,” Yuta muttered and shook his hand, a bit too boldly for Jungkook’s liking. Jungkook smiled at the guy - a very small and not-genuine smile. Any other time, you would have noticed how fake his smile was, but right now, your eyes were on Yuta. None of your attention was aimed at Jungkook.
Before Jungkook noticed, you two were already too immersed in how amazing these last days - without him - had been, he turned around and walked out of the toxic, smoke-ish and noisy environment that had taken over Hoseok’s whole place, betting his ass that you wouldn't notice his absence until the end of the night.
His hands were buried in his pockets and his head hung low. He was praying not to bump into Jin, Taehyung or any other of his closest friends that had also attended the party. His lips were currently being intensely wounded by his front teeth. His eyes stung and he didn’t know why. Then he got to his car, sitting down and letting go a deep breath that he didn’t know he was holding in. Then the tears he also hadn’t noticed to be sheltering in his eyes started to run down his cheeks.
He didn't quite know why he was crying. The only thing he knew was that you were taken. You were completely smitten to some other guy, that wasn’t him and that bothered him in measures he couldn’t have imagined. You were absolutely smitten to someone, who wasn't him.
He had lost his chance. That's why he was crying.
Tumblr media
He was a goner.
You were standing there, messy hair, deep dark circles, bare face, large grey sweatpants- that seemed oddly familiar to him, but he decided to ignore that - and a black sweatshirt, in front of him, asking to come in. He stepped away and you came in. Not wasting any time after he closed the door, you grabbed his neck and buried your face on it. He felt the wet patches you were leaving in his thin dark green t-shirt. He held you tight against his body and you sobbed fully. Your cries only intensified when he placed one of his big hands on your head and took his soft lips to your forehead, pecking it.
Then he picked you up, your legs around his waist and your face, still buried in his neck. He took you to his living room, taking a chair and placing it in front of his warm fireplace. He sat on it, you on his lap, holding onto his shoulders. There was nothing better than this spot to calm you down on a cold day. He knew it but he doubted Yuta made any idea of it.
“Have you ever been afraid of losing the love of your life?”
His heart shattered. He could hear it shatter, like a very fragile glass piece. Yuta was the love of your life. What had he to do with that, why were you even here, if your problem was with Yuta?
“You and Yuta argued?”
You hummed, a bit hesitant - the reason unknown to him. He didn’t say anything else. He couldn’t. It was not his place. You just needed a friendly lap to seat on, a couple of warm arms to hold you and a gentle voice to tell you it was alright.
“It’s alright... It’s alright baby...”
That’s exactly what he did.
Tumblr media
“This is Soojin, my girlfriend.”
Your eyes widened and a small, surprised smile played on your lips. He hesitated for your answer.
“Hi!” after greeting the beautiful girl that stood next to him holding his hand tight, you moved forward to briefly hug her. “Jungkook, never mentioned you before!”.
Snarky.
Soojin looked at Jungkook, her shy eyes now displayed a small discreet amount of anger.
“Oh... This is pretty recent. That’s why,” Soojin blurted, a nervous laugh erupting right away.
Soojin was a girl he had met about a month ago and she was amazing. Incredibly breathtaking and Jungkook couldn’t adore her more. His crush on you had been long forgotten - or at least he thought it had.
Jungkook thought the dinner was delicious, but still, when you asked what he thought of the dinner he answered ‘it’s good, but yesterday Soojin made some amazing bibimbap, I should have asked her to do it for tonight instead’. And you smiled bitterly and him. No one else noticed the bitterness in your smile, but he did.
Why was he acting this way? Because since he and his new girlfriend got in your apartment, you had established this dumb discreet competition between you and Soojin, making passive-aggressive comments and the poor girl beside him was so notoriously uncomfortable, he felt sorry for bringing her here.
“Soojin, maybe you should visit my hairdresser”
“I know you probably don’t understand since you’ve never been to college, but I’ve been so happy with my grades recently”
“How have you managed to attract someone like Jungkook, I mean... You know what I mean, right?”
So when the dinner was over, he pulled you away by the arm, bringing you to the kitchen and leaving Yuta and Soojin on the balcony, enjoying the view and hopefully sparing Soojin some minutes of your annoyingly mean comments.
“Why are you being such a bitch to Soojin?” he asked, hands on his hips and his eyes raging.
“I’m not,” you furrowed your eyebrows and he laughed ironically.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Y/N.”
“You had never mentioned her before. Who do you think I am, for you to present me some temporary fling you’re having. I’m more important than that! If you want to present me to someone, I want her to be at least stable. Not someone you’ve been dating for 2 weeks!”
“What has time to do with it? I like her, I think she’s worthy enough for you to meet her!”
“C’mon, look at her. She sports the slutty look.” you deadpanned and Jungkook’s eyes widened.
“You’re going too far! Look at Yuta! He’s the typical high school fuckboy!” he whisper-screamed. “You have no moral to talk about Soojin like that!”
“Oh, now he’s defending her!” you ironized and he rubbed his forehead, trying to look for just a little bit more patience. “You didn’t even tell me she was coming! And plus, I don’t have to mandatorily like her!”
“I don’t like Yuta and you don’t hear me talking to him like he's trash, right?”
“Yeah, that’s because he’s not trash, but we can’t say the same for Soojin, can we?”
That was enough. He turned his back on you, going to the balcony in quick steps and grabbing Soojin’s hand in his. He dragged her across your apartment as you stared at him piercingly.
“Babe, what’s going on?” Soojin asked, completely adrift.
“We’re leaving.”
“I haven’t said goodbye yet, kook”
“You don’t need to, we’re not coming back anyway,” he stated as his eyes locked on yours.
Tumblr media
Jungkook really didn’t plan on coming back but Soojin broke up with him about a month later, claiming that he was in love with someone else and not bothering to explain further. Needless to say, Jungkook had never been as bewildered and nauseated in his life. He had argued with you, his best friend, to protect Soojin’s dignity, and she dared to say he didn’t love her?!
The only one he could think of to help him figure out what the heck Soojin was referring to with such barbarities, was you. You were the most intelligent and astute person Jungkook had ever met. He was sure you were the only one who could possible help him.
When he showed up at your door, you opened it. No sign of shock or surprise evident on your face in seeing him after your huge argument, because you both knew you two would never be able to stay mad a each other for too long. A month of not talking was a new record.
When he blurted out the reason Soojin had used to break up with him, after sitting down next to you on your couch, your mouth fell agape and your eyes widened.
“What?” you exclaimed as Jungkook shook his head, showing his bewilderment.
“That’s what I said!” he exclaimed back and you looked at the floor, completely confused by what your best friend was telling you. The boy had almost finished his 7-year friendship to defend his new girlfriend. How could she even question his feelings?!
“She’s probably just overthinking something... Maybe she saw you hugging another girl... Or maybe a text on your phone...”
“I didn’t text anyone other than her! Not even you!” he screeched and you scratched your ear, trying to think of some logical reason behind the sudden breakup.
“... Probably, it’s really her overthinking something... Girls do that! I do that, all the time!” you looked at him doubtfully, as he stared back in the same way. “SHE’S INSECURE!” you shouted as the sudden realization, that seemed to be the most logical out of every single theory you had already come up with, came to your mind.
Jungkook widened his eyes, straightening his back as your speculation didn’t seem as automatically disposable as all the others that had come to his mind.
“That’s it!” you continued. “Probably, she’s in one of those times where she doubts every single thing in her body, and she thinks she’s not enough for you! I feel that way too often!”
Jungkook’s expression got serious as he heard the last portion of your speech. “You do?”
It took you a moment to understand what he was asking, but as you saw the worry behind his eyes you quickly figured the context of the question. “Oh... Yeah, I guess it’s pretty normal...”
“You shouldn’t feel that way, you’re pretty amazing...”
You smiled shyly and sent him a sweet gaze, as he quickly returned it. “With Yuta, it’s pretty hard not to doubt me at times. Have you seen the guy? Seems like he came straight out a freaking novel...” you chuckled playfully and Jungkook pushed your shoulder with his.
“And so do you.” And there was Jungkook in his natural element.
“Jungkook! Stop flirting!” you screeched, shyly as your cheeks turned into a dark shade of pink. Jungkook laughed, cringing internally at how cute he found you in that exact moment. He embraced your shoulders in his muscular arms, and you finally looked into his eyes. His face was awfully close and you could feel his breath on your face as a soft smile lingered on his lips.
“Missed you,” he whispered so that only the two of you could hear it, even though no one else was around.
“Missed you,” you whispered back, leaning your forehead to his.
Tumblr media
Soojin had taken him back.
She had her reasons to break up with him in the first place, but she couldn’t deny the guy a second chance as he stood by her door, a bouquet of red roses, that you had recommended, in his hand, puppy eyes and pouted lips.
You had found out in the worst of ways.
Crying your heart out, you stood in the elevator, waiting for it to finally come to your destination, your best friend’s apartment floor. When it did, you got out of it, your face smudged with your -supposedly, waterproof - mascara. You knocked and were received by Soojin, in all her beauty, messy hair and no make-up features, wearing Jungkook’s shirt. She was probably busy with something else. She still managed to look extremely gorgeous, and there were you, looking like you had just been run over by a bus.
“Y/N! Are you alright! That’s dumb, of course not! Do you want to come in? Wait a second, I’ll go call Jungkook,” she stated with a genuine expression of worry on her face and a hand on your shoulder.
“No! No, leave it. I’m fine!” you said, grabbing her hand before she could go and call Jungkook. “I’ll just go home. Sorry for interrupting you two!” you smiled, even with your smudged make-up face. “Don’t worry, I’ll just call him later!”
And so you turned your back on her, as you felt her worried look on your back.
“Oh! And I’m sorry about how I treated you last time...” You turned back to her, sending an apologetic smile her way.
“Don’t worry about that...” she muttered and smiled back.
It was obvious why Jungkook liked her so much.
Tumblr media
“What happened yesterday?!” Jungkook shouted as soon as you opened the door, exactly 7:54 AM and the guy was already standing by your door.
“You didn’t tell me you and Soojin were back together...”
“Not what I asked,” he said back, impatient.
“I wasn’t answering you either,” you mocked and he sent you an annoyed look. “Don’t worry about last night. I’m fine now.”
“I just want to know what happened. Not even worried...” he said and you laughed at how sarcastic he could be at times.
“Yuta and I broke up,” you said and Jungkook’s eyes widened. “He cheated. A drunk night out.”
“Son of a bitch...” he muttered and you quickly enveloped his face with your hands, bringing his eyes to yours.
“I’m fine, really. No need to get mad” you chuckled a bit. Jungkook stared at you for a while, before holding your hands and kissing both of them.
“You deserve so much better. Please don’t settle for someone like him.”
“I won’t,” you smiled and he smiled back.
He spent the rest of the day with you. Both laying on the sofa, holding onto each other, and watching movies, with a huge bowl of the sweetest popcorn you could have managed.
“I’m 25...” you muttered out of nowhere and Jungkook hummed back, his face snuggled by the side of your neck, his arms around your waist and his chest against your back.
“And?”
“I want to get married someday and now I don't have a boyfriend,” you muttered once again.
“Were you really planning on marrying that piece of shit?”
“I didn’t know he was a piece of shit.”
“You don’t need to get married now. You’re still young. You’ll find a great guy, who knows how to truly value you as the woman you are,” he said, before softly kissing the skin of your neck, where his cheek was previously resting on.
"Soojin’s a lucky girl,” you said, smiling, after few silent moments.
She really was a lucky girl.
Tumblr media
A few years later
“Would you marry me?”
Your eyes widened, quickly averting to your best friend, kneeled down in front of his 3-year girlfriend. He was glowing. A wide perfectly white smile played on his lips as he stared up at Soojin with eyes that shone brighter than ever. She was speechless - very much like you. Her hands covered her mouth and her eyes were starting to get wet with tears. The answer that followed was obvious.
“Yes!”
There it was. She threw her arms around Jungkook’s neck, as he stood up and enveloped her slim waist in his embrace. She was crying already and he chuckled lightly at the emotional mess his girlfriend was.
You weren't expecting this. But you should have. Jungkook hadn't talked to you about this or left you any clue about it, but still, he was 28 years old. You could see the shine of his eyes getting brighter each time he looked at her, every passing day. They were in love and their relationship was stronger each day.
Your whole group of friends manifested their happiness. Jimin had tears in his eyes from how happy he was seeing that the youngest of the group was finally settling down for life. Namjoon clapped his hands, smirking proudly at the youngest. You could swear you’d seen Jin, that stood next to Namjoon also clapping his hands, winking to his friend when their eyes crossed. Yeri whistled loudly along with Taehyung, while Irene laughed at her friends’ foolishness.
Mingyu, quite unaware of the mess the living room held, kept his eyes secured on you, smiling. When you caught his gaze, you sent him a tiny smile back - the first since the heartfelt proposal. You averted your eyes back to the couple holding each other in the middle of the room and when they parted their embrace, Jungkook’s eyes locked on yours. You weren’t smiling as he expected you to be. You didn’t even seem to be happy for him. He smiled anyway, and you, in all your effort, winked playfully at him, as you turned your back on him. You grabbed a cup of champagne and walked towards the balcony, being interrupted by the male hand that suddenly grabbed your waist.
“We’re next,” you heard Mingyu whisper in your ear. You looked back, grabbing his hand and lightly squeezing it.
“You bet,” you answered playfully and smiled brightly at him.
Mingyu was your boyfriend. You had been dating him for 2 years now and he was great. Jungkook had presented him to you at a home party. You still remember complaining to him about having to watch him and Soojin being all couply while you still spent the night laying in bed and watching romances. The week after your complaints he took you to a party and introduced you to this really nice and good-looking guy, which happened to be his friend, named Mingyu. Mingyu was a few months older than you and he had just started to work as a lawyer. He was already introduced to your family and they all loved him, dismissing your sister's daily comments that claimed her disappointment because she thought you 'would end u with your Jungkook'.
When Mingyu let go of you to go hang out with the rest of your friends, you reached the balcony, closing the door behind you, leaning on the glass balcony and gazing at the amazing view your friend Irene had got when she bought this new apartment with Jin, her boyfriend. Your hair, being wildly swept by the wind, was a mess, but you could care less. Your eyes were teary, you didn't really know why though. Something about Jungkook getting married left a huge ball of emotions sitting on your chest. What bothered you is that even knowing Soojin was an amazing girl and Jungkook would be happy with her, you weren't particularly happy with the news. You knew this could as well turn you into a very shitty best friend, and that's why you thought you wouldn't really be able to talk to Jungkook without catching a breath of fresh air first. Without noticing the tears you had been previously sheltering in your eyes, were now running down your cheeks.
You sobbed and quickly wiped the tears away when you heard the balcony doors opening and closing again. It was Jungkook, you knew it when you felt the warm presence you'd gotten used to after 9 years.
"Hey," he muttered.
You didn't answer, afraid your voice would fail you and just kept staring forwards, feeling Jungkook's gaze on you. You knew he knew you had been crying. He was a master when it came to figuring it out.
"So... you're getting married now hum?" you commented, once your vocal cords seemed stable enough.
"Right," he answered, and you looked at your side, not bothering to hide your puffy eyes. "What do you think of that?" he asked you and you looked down at your hands.
"You know... If you're happy, I'm happy," you said and he chuckled.
"Of course," Jungkook mimicked your actions, looking down as well. You two stayed quiet for some time, as the starry night sky shined down on you.
"You look amazing tonight, by the way," he remarked. "Didn't get the chance to te-"
"You didn't tell me you were going to propose," you interrupted him, looking back at him. There wasn't a shy smile on your lips or a polite gaze on your eyes. All Jungkook could see in your expression was hurt.
"I don't have to tell you every little thing going on in my life," he answered, putting up his defensive side.
"This is not little! This is marriage," you exclaimed and stared at him. He stared down and stayed quiet.
"Mingyu told me he's going to propose too," he announced and you widened your eyes. Not that you hadn't thought about it. Mingyu had commented a lot of times he wanted to make you his wife and build a family with you. But still, it was big news for you.
"I'm sure you weren't supposed to tell me that."
"Are you going to say yes?" he asked and stared at you.
You stared back at him and for once in that night, your eyes met for more than a minute. There was a silent plead present in his eyes that you couldn't really figure out. He sighed and got closer to you, your arms rubbing against each other. You lay your head down on his shoulder and he shortly kissed your forehead.
"Y/n..." he whispered, and you hummed back, still not answering his previous question. "I can... go back. If you... want me to."
"If you love her, then you should marry her," you answered right away, not wanting to hold your best friend back from marrying the girl he loves.
He kept quiet and so did you.
"Are you going to say yes?" he repeated his previous question and you shot your head up, looking straight in his eyes.
"You know... I've always thought of you as the love of my life."
Jungkook's eyes widened as you chuckled. That's when it came to him. That night, you were afraid of losing him, not Yuta.
"I've always been told I should marry the love of my life. But I don't think I can marry you now that you're already married," you stated playfully, but Jungkook's stare was serious. "Mingyu is amazing, really. I worship him. But how do I know if I love him enough to marry him?" you asked, looking up to find Jungkook already staring at you, a mix of different emotions present in his eyes. "How did you know you loved Soojin enough to marry her?" you asked again and Jungkook looked down.
"Well... I like her almost as much as I love you," he whispered loud enough for only you to listen. "And I think that's a whole lot."
"Do you love her, though?" you asked, absolutely perplexed at his answer.
He smiled lightly and sighted.
"You just don't get it, do you?" he whispered.
He stood up straight, turning his back on you and walking back towards the door.
"Why don't you just tell me then?" you said a bit louder than you had talked the whole night.
He looked back at you, over his shoulder, his hand already on the door handle. He chuckled lowly, what sounded like a sarcastic chuckle, before turning back to you and taking two steps forward. Somehow, his expression had changed and you weren't sure how to read it now. He was bitter.
"You want me to tell you? I just proposed and you have the guts to get sad because I'm marrying Soojin??
"I'm not s-"
"Shut up! Just... Shut up." he begged ironically and you stood quiet, he sighed angrily and looked to his left, avoiding looking at you.
"Maybe you should step away... At least for a while."
"What the hell is wrong with you? Jungkook you're getting married. I can't miss that. I won't miss that!"
"Exactly!" he screamed suddenly and walked quickly towards you. He had never been this angry in front of you and it scared you that you were the reason for his anger. His face was inches away from yours and you could feel his quick breath fanning over your lips. "I'm getting married to Soojin but all I can think about is if I should have proposed to you!" he whispered in your face and you could see his eyes watering, very much like you could feel yours do the same. “You know why I proposed so suddenly? Because Mingyu told me he was going to propose to you and I didn’t want to be the only one feeling miserable!”
"J-Jungkook..." you sighed and Jungkook let his tears fall, furrowing his eyebrows in pure anguish, as he nestled his face on your neck, crying silently. He enveloped your body in his arms and you quickly did the same.
"I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I-I'm in love with you and it scares me to death," he sobbed and your grip on him tightened.
"It's alright... I'm right here..."
You two stayed in that same position for a while, until he calmed down and his sobs stopped.
"What do I do now?" he asked, still laying his head on your chest.
"You do whatever makes you happy," you answered and he kissed your neck, and action that, from him, was already usual.
"Hubby! Can we go home?" Soojin opened the balcony's door, chuckling at the new nickname. Jungkook quickly stepped back and wiped the stray tears on his cheeks away. Sensing your stare on him, he sent you a tiny smile.
Soojin caught your gaze from behind Jungkook's shoulder and sent you a smile, which you retributed.
"Yes babe, let's go..." Jungkook answered after a while. He looked at you, the deepest look in his eyes that you had ever seen. He cupped your cheek as you two heard Soojin walking back inside, to say her goodbyes. “I’ll go now.”
“Please, don’t do this. If you don’t want to marry her, you don’t have to.”
“What do you want?”
You didn’t answer, opting to roll your arms tightly around his neck, as he held your waist, bringing your body impossibly closer to his.
“I love you, Jungkook,” you whispered. “, but this is a decision you have to make.”
And he wasn’t ready. He wasn’t ready to break all the promises he had made to Soojin this past three years. He wasn’t ready to admit that all she was was a way to get to you. He wasn’t ready to admit that at some point in his life he had become a worthless and selfish jerk and that his life had been diminished to you. He wasn’t ready to break every single ethical moral and principle that he had been trying to live by all his life. This decision didn’t come to him, and only him. It came to you, to Soojin, to Mingyu and to everyone surrounding the four of you. It wasn’t his right to break his friends’ hearts and he wouldn’t do it. He couldn’t do it.
“I’m sorry.”
And he walked away.

everything written in this story is completely FICTION. i personally do not believe that this story aligns with any of the idol’s real lives. ultimately, this story is not meant to intentionally defame any idol in any way.
chapter one [congratulations, but not really]
Dear {Y/N},
Congratulations! I am pleased to offer you admission to the University of California, Riverside for fall 2021.
the golden word congratulations lit up y/n’s eyes as she screamed falling into her brother’s arms.  tears emerged from her eyes realizing that she would finally leave the colorful city of busan for the sunny shores of california; this was a cultural reset that guaranteed her an infinite amount of memories to come.
“i did it! jimin, i studied so hard”, she sobbed, grasping onto his slim frame.  “it feels worth it like—“, she paused to wipe her tears with her sleeves, “all my late nights, immense sacrifices, and good grades have made this worth it.”
jimin rolled his eyes playfully and lightly pushing her off of him. “yeah, of course you made it in”, he scoffed jokingly, “we’re a family geniuses. you weren’t raised to be a dumbass.” he ruffled her hair before y/n grabbed his wrist.
“i guess that’s why both of my brothers are stuck here—“, y/n held his hand lovingly before sarcastically stabbing his back, “especially the one named park jimin, he didn’t get accepted into any ivy’s or safety’s. now he’s stuck going to an online university.” she released his hand before smiling to truly appreciate him, “but all jokes aside, i couldn’t have done this without you.”
her mind wandered to the thought of sunny california. the excitement built up in her like air filling a balloon. there were nerves trapped within because this sense of curiosity and control was foreign.
would there be snow?
what types of people would there be?
how perfect does my english have to sound?
there were several wonders because south korea was engrained to her memory.  for the past eighteen years, korea was her home. there would be no more hanboks on seoullal, honorifics for friends, and (most importantly) her beloved family.  without her family, she wanted to venture on the outside on her own. yet, there would always be a yearn for the feeling of home. the universe finally served her freedom on a platter. she could finally leave the nest to fly.
was she ready for it?
“y/n, don’t forget that you won’t be alone. taemin goes to riverside too”, jimin’s loud mouth interrupted y/n’s thoughts.  soon enough, all her freedom had crashed and burned. she was caged once again.
her imagination was left to torment her. when she heard his name, a roaring fire lit up within her because of her discomfort; the fire will never go out.
scars can heal, but y/n’s are deep as ever.  like an evergreen, scars can everlasting.
“taemin—i thought he was in new york?”, she questioned with a sense of worry. “i haven’t seen him since he graduated, and i don’t really like him at all. are you guys still friends? ”, an awkward laugh slipped out. she was quite uncomfortable at the mention of taemin, and her confession proved it all.
there was something about taemin that irked her soul. whether it was the memory of his being or thought of him physically, taemin would forever be an uncomfortable and undesirable person to talk about.
she remembers the day taemin walked in and out of her life.
it seemed so sudden.
he never wanted to cause pain, but he left her with the sharpness of his trauma.  whatever was rooted in his cruel being had isolated her from her well being.
it was one thing for taemin to make y/n happy in secrecy. however, y/n had to suffer in secrecy once taemin had walked out because nobody knew the depth of her adoration for him.
jimin groaned before taking a deep breath to keep his composure. “one, taemin has been my best friend since 2015. two, he had to transfer because he had a change of mind—”, he let out a brief laugh, “well, that’s what he says—and three, it’s him or mom watching you.”
he was taken aback by her dislike for his friend.  in his mind, he believed that y/n would be quite fond of a familiar face.  however, he let it go believing it was just another “girl problem.”
little did he know, taemin was a disaster that filled y/n’’s life with hundreds problems.
jay-z once said, “i got 99 problems, but a bitch ain’t one.” for y/n, taemin was the 99 problems and she was “the bitch.”
the seriousness in jimin’s tone was irritating to y/n, almost strangle-worthy. he doesn’t understand her dislike for him. in fact, he has a “bromance” with taemin.
to others, taemin is a cool and collected young man that seemed shy to the world while being confident to his friends.  jimin often saw his confident side, and that allowed jimin’s mind to feel as if taemin was heavenly.
to jimin, taemin had an aura about him that he couldn’t explain.  it drew him in.
maybe it was because he was simply older than jimin.  or, he could’ve just been build with extra charm.
as much as y/n didn’t like jimin’s praise for taemin, she didn’t want her mom babysitting her because she is simply too grown to have her around. sometimes mother’s can be suffocating; they can control many aspects of your life.  it was a valid fear for y/n to have, and she was scared that jimin was going to follow in those footsteps.
jimin didn’t know any history between taemin and y/n.  he doesn't know she constructs taemin to be evil because he took advantage of her innocence. sadly in her heart, she believes the thought of him is bad for her health because he hurt her.
taemin is a monster. an emotionless, compassionless man who does not know how to love.
but, everyone is naive because they don’t understand his evil like y/n does.
taemin does put up a front to the world, while y/n gets to see all of him at her own risk.
“i love mom, but you’re right”, she laughed in agreement. for jimin’s sake, y/n lied to him and herself, “i’ll take taemin any day.”
“yeah, but don’t forget to wear a mask. nobody wants covid in the states. you don’t have insurance”, jimin scoffed before y/n hit his back playfully.
jimin yelped in pain, “literally what the fuck? you’re a demon.”
 september 20th, 2021
the plane to california was unbearably long and did not comfort her senses.  although she did not mind wearing a mask, the uncertainty of her health on that flight kept her up the full thirteen hours. everyone was spaced out, but the enclosed space made her claustrophobic. normally, her senses are grounded. however, the pandemic blows everyone out of proportion and brings out a little bit of paranoia as well.
y/n was wearing a pink surgical mask to contrast with her plain wardrobe. before she left for california, she chose a long black coat, oversized uc riverside hoodie, and black jeans with her basic converse. she was trying to blend in with every other college freshman on move-in day.
a memory flew into her mind. while on the plane, the remembrance of what home felt like tugged at her.  the pain of missing someone never settled inside of her; the feeling was foreign because the past experiences weren’t genuine. or maybe, she is uncomfortable with missing someone or something because of insecurity within.
before y/n left, her mom hugged her tightly before sending her off with tears; love can be unconditional when it comes to your family.  on the other hand, y/n heard jimin laugh at his mom while giving a wave goodbye; hiding your worries with comedy makes you more worried at times. jimin was obviously good at hiding himself, but he made himself overly awkward this time.
when she knew she was saying goodbye, y/n didn’t feel anything because leaving was thought out to be normal. her mind didn't think her immigration would be sad. it was surprising to see her mother sad, but also the uncomfortable atmosphere jimin brought.
a ding from the intercom sounded off, “we will be beginning our decline to los angeles.  the fastened seat belt sign is now on for your personal safety. please remain seated during this time”, the voice was followed by another ding via the intercom.
as the plane began its descent, y/n gripped one of her armrests while closing her eyes. sadly, the feeling of traveling alone was brand new, not in a bad way. perhaps, the butterflies her stomach arose because she was going to be around a familiar face that makes her uncomfortable.
y/n wishes to hide away the memories of the two of them as if their world's never collided. in her mind, lee taemin was just another problematic teenage memory to get rid of
in summer 2018, the air was different. it was heavy, and the atmosphere was lethargic.  in the moment, y/n felt specifically upset as if the universe decided to rip out a significant amount of reality; the universe ripped something out, indeed.
lee taemin, long-term lover, graduated early behind her back.  suddenly, he is getting up to leave for new york.
“i can’t believe you are leaving for college already”, her teeth bit her bottom lip before she felt his warmth encase her. tears were pouring down her face while creating a hurricane of bleeding makeup and anger.  “you can’t keep doing this to me. you told me no more fucking secrets!”, she gripped onto his waist before silently crying into him.
“i think you knew that this was bound to happen”, taemin brought a hand to her face, caressing her cheek to wipe away the tears. “the only difference between you and i is that we’ll be boarders apart.”
“i didn’t know this was your plan. you just dropped this huge ass bomb on me today!”, she aggressively pulled his hand down to suddenly push him away.  “taemin, this isn’t just about you. my love for you is real.”, she took a breath to let out a sarcastic laugh.
“i love you”, her heart ached saying those words.  more tears came out of her eyes before she quietly croaked out with a general shakiness in her demeanor, “do you feel the same way at all?”
taemin shook his head, scoffing slightly. he grazed the back of her hand with his lips. no words were exchanged between them.
y/n was standing there confused, waiting for him to say something. even if the words were, "i don't love you."
however, his response never came, and his thoughts seemed distant. it was like taemin resisted y/n's desire and compassion for him.
the silence between the two filled the air. it finally hit her that his love was no longer apparent, and his place in their relationship became nonexistent.
just like that, taemin walked out the door breaking y/n’s heart as if it was glass. from her eyes, it truly didn’t feel as if he gave a damn to begin with.
it was unreal, but most definitely her reality.
in her mind she is screaming because taemin makes her feel alive in the worst way possible. he is unbearable to think about because he is a reminder of everything that has gone wrong with love.
he is only a distant memory that she wishes to burn.
fuck love.
but most importantly— fuck you, lee taemin.

How did they get down? Jopping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think SM Ent. must have done something right, here. the fact that I am a Shawol (i listen to EXO too and Baekhyun is my favourite) turned Supporter turned NCTzen and Wayzenni, is testament that SM Ent. had that formula worked out correctly.
when SuperM first debut in 2019, i was casting doubts and did not quite understand the intent. i thought there was going to be a fandom power struggle and everyone just trying to prove their idol was “the best boy”.
I did not pay much attention to SuperM back then, I was like “Jopping was just okay”. I took notice of them again earlier this year and man, I fell deep. I didn’t know I was going to love them so much. While I was initially focused on Taemin and Baekhyun, I watched all their content from the start and then I was drawn to Ten. And Ten pulled me to Taeyong. And the rest is history, Baby Don’t Stop was the culprit to pull me to their fandom.
So it works. This multi-fandom thing works. The only concert you can attend bringing different lightsticks because it is still SuperM at the end of the day. I understood why these members were handpicked to form this supergroup. We can see that SM had a vision for them.
I honestly thought their Super One album in 2020 was the best. Of course, I personally loved No Manners from their first album but I cannot run away from Monster and Infinity. And then hits like Tiger Inside. And comfort songs like Better Days and Wish You Were Here. And bops like With You and We Do with such vibrant colours and feel to it.
and here we are today, 4 October 2021. Happy 2 years to SuperM! I hope I’m not late to the party, and I hope they will come back as a supergroup once again. Yes, with 7 members. Sending lots of love to everyone who wish for the same wish 💕

i was watching twice's cover of move and suddenly had some Thoughts
first of all, i wonder how they chose the members for the cover. but what i wanna talk about is my preference order for each of the girls in this cover.
momo, i get why they chose her, she's the main dancer. i think she understands and embodies this type of concept the best, she's good for dark, mature, sensual, she has the gaze (and that hair is doing wonders for her, i'm so mad i look bad with bangs so i can't get the momo hair.) her movements are really fluid, and even though i think she's more focused on sexy than elegant, she still has plenty of elegance and could really get in her element with move. this is just a speculation of mine, but i think her cover would be more taemin-like if there wasn't an audience. like i am almost convinced she feels herself a lot more when she's alone in the practice room. of course, momo and taemin have very different approaches to their artistry (imo) and i think an audience cages momo in, her dance is becoming more "performative" so to speak - i don't quite know how to say it. it's like she's doing it more for them than for herself, while taemin feeds off an audience in a way i've never seen someone do. he's performing for the public, too, but it's a lot more personal, yet not intimate. he's giving himself off on a plate, but voluntarily. most girl groups, as i see it, are just being "fed on" without them really wanting to.
second, i prefer chaeyoung (she's the blonde one - i don't know if you know their names or are familiar with twice.) now, arguably, mina is the better dancer, but chaeyoung brings something to this performance that i'm really drawn to. i would describe her style in this stage as chic. she seems almost cheeky, like "i'm sexy and i know it" but in a more subtle way. i don't think she knows quite how to work her facial expressions for this type of concept yet, she's pretty stiff here. but she has moments, and i've seen what she can do in other stages with a simple eyebrow lift. i really like chaeyoung - out of all the twice members, she seems the most attached to music as an art form and not just something you do as an idol (kinda like rose from blackpink). chaeyoung is also heavily involved with writing lyrics for twice and recently started co-producing, i think. there are some idols who understand the craft in its depth and there are others who don't as much, and i see chaeyoung as one of the former.
my third favorite would be mina (the ponytail one). i have a very mixed perspective towards this girl. as a dancer, i'm not really attracted to her style. she doesn't extend her movements as much as she could, she doesn't take up a lot of space while dancing, she's a little confined. i think she's one of those female idols that's being just "fed on" when she doesn't want it to be that way. she also took a 6-month break starting from july 2019 due to her anxiety; being an idol is a harsh job. but speaking strictly of this cover, in terms of concept embodiment, she's the second best after momo imo. she knows what she's singing about, she knows the way she's being watched. now that i think about it, she might understand it even more than momo, but it's the difference in dancing abilities and style that ranks them differently for me.
and last, dahyun (the blonde with the long hair). admittedly she's the most ill-fit for this stage, and i'm really curious why they chose her for it. i like dahyun, i do, and i think she's a joy to watch in twice, but here, it just doesn't go well. she's happy, she's smiley, she's too twice-y for move. i honestly think nayeon would have fitted better here, but that's just my two cents.
if you're taking the time to read all this, thank you, i just really love this cover and had no one to share all my feels about it till now.
this is has some very astute observations, thank you for sending it in!!! please come back soon and share more of your feelings about things, i would love to hear them even if i know nothing about the group!!
i don't know if you've read my post where i talk about move (i'm going to assume probably, but it was a while ago so i'll link it for anyone who hasn't), but you are absolutely spot on in pointing out the difference between how taemin engages with an audience and how twice (in this cover) engages with an audience. part of the power in taemin's performances is the double complicity; he is just as much a participant in the objectification of himself as the audience is. i wouldn't say that it's an aggression (it's not quite that strong, for move at least), but he is taking an active role in engaging the audience to look at him. it's an invitation to consume extended by his own hand, willingly. this is very different from how a lot of female idols are perceived, because although there is somewhat of a complicity there by nature of being a performer, there are significantly higher, more restrictive, and more exploitative standards on them. they are very much being fed on in a more unequitable way. move is complex in that way, and although i'm still right in my observation that women cover move better than men do, the footing that you have to meet the choreography at is that you want to be consumed. you're correct in noting that a few of them seem uncomfortable/don't know what to do with that notion; it probably pushes up against some of the ingrained sense of propriety that has been trained into them. i suspect there is a lot lower percentage of female idols that feel comfortable or even want to put themselves on display like this than we would assume.
my logical assumption would be that they chose the members based on who was interested in doing the cover, main/lead dancers, and at least one visual, but i know nothing about the positions in twice so i can't verify if this is at all right. it may also be based on who was available, sometimes it's just scheduling logistics.

Take Care (Second part of villain! Taemin series)
I did the first part here, a villain!Taemin x hero!reader imagine / scenario
and I come up with another imagine... (╹ڡ╹ )
ENJOY!!
You wake up wincing from the pain from your internal injuries and scars. Opening your eyes slowly, you realize you’re not in your own bedroom. Looking around, this is new and unfamiliar. The smell of fresh sheet is definitely not the one you used to wash your clothes in. Where are you?
Your head feels heavy, you did not quite remember what happened yesterday, but now you’re more confused when the room you are in lacks pictures or clues of where you are.
You push yourself to sit down on the bed, holding one hand to your head, you made it to a sitting position. There is no clock or alarm in sight, but the sun ray peeking through the curtain is enough to tell you it’s late already.
A distasteful grumble from your empty stomach snaps you back to reality. Hey you’re starving. Judging by how sore your stomach is, you know you haven’t had food since last night.
With much struggle, you stand up and wobble a bit. Feeling super weak since your body doesn’t have energy at all to actually move, but you heard the deafening silence in the house and you know you’re all alone. If you do not eat now, you’ll pass out and passing out in a house you don’t know… is not a good idea.
One palm over your temple, tells you that you’re having fever. Judging by the pain you feel under your skin, some internal bleeding must have happened when you fought yesterday and thus having fever made sense. Now who the hell is taking care of you?! Why doesn’t that person leave you food or at least check on your condition before leaving the house like this.
You walk slowly to the kitchen, awfully stopping whenever you feel like falling. The refrigerator doesn’t have food except an apple juice and the medicine rack luckily has aspirins.
You drink the apple juice as if it’s the finest wine in the world, savouring the sweet tangy feeling of the golden-brown liquid sliding down your dry throat.
Sadly, that happiness didn’t last long, there was not much apple juice in the carton, and you can only fill your stomach with a water and aspirin.
You groan and try to walk back to the room to rest and make sure you’re healing properly; nevertheless, your legs give up. Halfway there, you no longer feel the ground and you fall.
You slump down sideways against one of the sofa, thinking of crawling back to the room, only to realize that sounds so hard and challenging.
Your eyes grow heavy and unknowingly, you’re drifted to sleep.
Hours later, Taemin comes home to his house. In his hands are bag of groceries product. He did not realize his fridge is so empty, if he did not check them this morning to make you food. He wanted to make you food, but when he was on his way to shop, there’s an urgent call and he must leave you behind starving. Taemin believes you’re a strong hero and starving once won’t kill you.
The tall slim figure kicks the door opens with his full hands and quietly makes his way to the kitchen. He did not see you yet, for he is focused with the eggs and bottles of wines he just bought.
Taemin hums as he takes his time to arrange the food and drink stocks. He only remembers your existence when he sees the empty apple juice box and the opened aspirin bottle.
“Oh shit (y/n)! I hope she did not pass out!” Taemin rushes to your room, only to pause when he sees your lifeless form on the ground. Sleeping uncomfortably against the sofa.
“Fuck-“ he goes down to support your weak body. “Wake up (y/n)!!” He pulls half of your body up to his chest and he feels how you’re still warm and hot from the fever.
You’re sleeping so deep, but the fever made you rumble chaotic words. It’s burning there on your temple, just as Taemin wants to touch your neck you stir from your sleep.
”No! Don't- Don't touch me!" you scream in a weak voice, flinching away from the desperate Taemin’s touch. Your eyes were wild, your breathing fast and shallow like you just woke up from nightmare, your whole-body trembling in uncontrollable fear.
"I'm not going to hurt you", Taemin says, gently taking you by the hand holding it firmly. Gosh it’s burning! Your eyes met.
“They’re trying to take me down again..” your eyes in run around in terror, looking through the empty living room. But Taemin gets it, you’re probably imagining things from the fever.
He understands this coz he once gone through this. Gently Taemin holds you softly and whispers in a sweet calming voice next to your ear.
"Listen to me. You're safe and they aren’t going to hurt you again. I'm here now. Trust me, I won't let anybody hurt you." Taemin expects you to yank your hand away in panic, but you didn't -instead you relax a little, tears forming in your bloody eyes, and let out a shaky breath.
"I-“ your eyes are still wildly scanning the room, just to calm down when you realize nobody is there.
"It's okay", Taemin calms you down. He smiles and pulls you into a hug you didn’t resist "It's okay.” Your eternal enemy hugs you tightly as he comforts your trembling body.
“Sorry for leaving you without meals, now I have foods… shall we eat and take care of your body?” Taemin soothes a hand on your sweaty back.
“I’ll have you drink the milk and you can change your clothes with a dry one, then we can eat dinner.” Taemin stands up to leave you, but you hold on to his leg.
“Don’t leave me, they’re coming back…” your eyes are glazzy again.
Taemin crouches down and runs a hand on your hair, “That’s your mind playing tricks. Calm down, you’re safe here.” He plants a quick kiss on your crown of hair and your eyes widen when you realize what he just did.
“Now, want to follow me to the kitchen or stay here?” he puts away the strands of hair sticking on your face.
“You.” You say and hug his arm tighter.
Taemin smiles and helps support you back to your feet. With his help, you are now seated on the dining table. He hands you one glass of warm milk and a bread. Like his promise, you change to a fresh clothe and wait him for dinner in a better state. You still sometimes doze off and shake, but when Taemin reaches out for your hand, you’re calm again.
“Look, I don’t know what else they do, that makes you this vulnerable and paranoid, but trust me for this once…. That I am taking care of you until you’re strong again to fight me.” He smirks, “After all, I need my healthy strong rival back.”
You secretly smile on his statement, Taemin indeed is the best rival one could ask for.

. . .
I don’t know why I’m still nervous now even when Jonghyun Hyung visited me earlier today during my performance broadcast to surprise me for celebrating my comeback. I am now at home, waiting for him to arrive from his parents house to announce his official discharge from the military. Even though we’ve known each other for more than a decade, I can’t help but worry that things might turn awkward for us.
I didn’t know how to react when Jonghyun Hyung surprise-visited me today, still in his uniform. I knew that I was extremely happy to see him but with all those people surrounding us and since I’m still new to this, I’m afraid they might suspect us. I hugged him properly and tightly only when we were finally left alone in my waiting room. Knowing him, he’d cry, which I always find endearing. I asked him why.
“I just missed you so much and you were amazing out there. I’m so proud of you,” he explained, his voice slightly faint and nasal from crying too much.
I looked into his puffy eyes and smiled goofily for seeing his face again after one long year.
“Okay, I have to save some tears for my family,” he joked, sniffling.
Jonghyun Hyung and I had been texting back and forth during his year of service. Almost every night, he would call me on video chat before he had to turn in his phone.
Around four months ago, it was a normal day for the both of us. However, he was acting strangely. He seemed extra jumpy and he talked so fast that I could barely understand what he was saying.
“What is wrong with you today?” I asked. He always told me whenever something was bothering him, but apparently, not this time.
“What are you talking about?”
“You’re acting weird.”
He paused for a while there. He aimed the camera away from his face for me to see only his shoulder.
“Hyung?” I called for him but he didn’t respond right away. We stayed like this for a whole five minutes, just me getting dizzy from watching my screen going round and round.
“Taemin, there’s something that I’ve been putting off telling you,” he started once the camera stopped spinning and I can see his face again. “You know how we’ve been spending time like this lately, and I must tell you, I’ve been very happy. Like, really very happy. I’ve been thinking about this a lot,” his voice sounded breathy.
I just continued to listen to him, quite confused, waiting for further information.
“I’ve been thinking about this a lot and...” he repeated, seeming fidgety. “I like you, Taemin.”
There was long silence. I had no idea what to say.
Next thing I know is that he said “Okay, good night!” and hung up. But he followed it by a text message saying, It’s okay, you don’t have to give an answer right now. Just tell me whenever you’re ready. Sleep well.~
We didn’t talk for a while after that, but we still texted. I began preparing for my comeback, weeks of practicing vocals and choreographies, plus video shootings. I became so busy that I almost didn’t think about what he told me.
After over two months of nonstop working, I finally caught days of break. I got to relax, thought about everything. My feelings for Jonghyun Hyung were always there but I guess I never really thought of it deeply since I didn’t think it was a big deal. When I heard it directly from him, although shocked and a little confused, I felt so happy as if my heart wanted to jump out of my body and run to him.
Talking to him by the end of every day is the moment I always looked forward to. I got unreasonably worried when I hadn’t heard from him all day. I was disappointed some nights that he’s too exhausted to talk and he had to go to bed early.
I had to tell him, too, how I felt so I decided to finally call him.
I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that he left to serve the military simply as Jonghyun Hyung and came back as my Jonghyun Hyung. It’s insane to think about. I don’t think I felt this blissful in my life. Talk about timing. I feel like running and jumping and screaming!
As I’m just sitting on my couch, still waiting for him to arrive, I feel restless, fidgeting my knees. My heart drops when I hear a knock on the door.
A gorgeous man appears before me holding a bouquet of flowers. “Congratulations, Taemin!” Jonghyun Hyung greets me with a sing-song voice.
I giggle at his cuteness of a smile. I gesture him to step inside as I took the bouquet from his hands. “Thank you, Hyung!” I say, trying not to sound too happy while I hug him.
After I offer him something to drink, we settle down on my couch. I inform him of my promotion process since he asked how I was doing first. Then I just watch him tell me all about his experience in the military. Eventually, his laugh is the only sound I’m hearing, and his smile is the only thing I’m seeing. It’s the most beautiful thing.
We talk for hours. Time passes by so quickly tonight that we lost track.
“By the way, where is your uniform?” I ask him.
“At home, why? Did you like how it looked on me?” he says, reading my mind.
I laugh. I’m too shy to admit that he did look hot in that military uniform. “Yeah, I think you looked taller in that,” I tease him instead.
“Hey!” he shouts, then punches me on my arm playfully.
I change the topic after we finish laughing. “It’s getting late, do you want me to drive you home?”
“Well...” He pauses for a moment, probably thinking how he should put what he’s about to say. “I was hoping I could stay here?”
“Huh?” Just like that I feel uneasy again. “Here?” My eyes eventually widen at him even when I don’t mean to. I don’t remember the last time I blinked.
“Forget it.” He’s laughing but I can hear the frustration in his voice. “I’ll just go.” He stands up from the couch and is about to head to the front door.
“Hyung!” I didn’t mean to yell. “I want you to stay,” I say gutlessly. He turns around to face me again.
“Why?” He reveals his frown this time.
“Day after tomorrow,” I try, but stuttering. “I will be busy again for the rest of the week so I might not be able to see you again for a while. So…”
“Taemin, obviously, you’re still not comfortable with this. It’s okay. I understand that this will take time. I’m still adjusting myself.” It’s true what he just said but I do want him to stay. I want…
Him.
My mind is out of control as my built-up desires take over. I run to him and clash my lips against his, drawing him even closer to me by his hips. I pull away after a moment. “But if you really want to go—”
He hushes me by clashing our lips together again even before I can catch my breath, this time it’s more tender but lustful.
His hands are now grasping my face and mine are starting to slide down at the top of his butt cheeks. Our bodies are colliding naturally, making me feel his hard-on against mine as our tongues taste each other.
He pulls away after a few minutes, already breathless. He looks in my eyes fiercely, biting his own lip. “I’m going to wash up,” he says, without changing his expression. He then goes running to my bathroom and slamming the door shut.
I’m finally able to breathe and just realizing that my heart is beating harder and faster. I can’t help but giggle at myself and fall back to the couch while I feel my face burning with my palms where he just touched me. “Hyung, what are you doing to me?”
. . .
I slowly open my eyes awake, feeling Hyung’s warm embrace wrapped around me from behind. I can also feel his breath against my ear. My heart is already full even when my day literally has just started. This has been the best sleep I’ve had in as long as I can remember.
“Taemin,” I hear him moan. He must’ve felt me waking up.
I carefully roll my whole body around to face him, then watch his precious skin shine along the morning light.
“How did you sleep?” he asks, his voice raspy.
“Perfect,” I say, smiling widely already.
I get out of bed to go to the toilet and let him linger on my bare ass.
I hear him sigh and chuckle, making me smile even wider.
I went back to the bedroom with a question in mind. “Hyung,” I call for him, rejoining him in bed. I hesitate.
“What is it?” He stares at me waiting to hear something else.
I look down for a second to think. “When did you start liking me?”
“Well,” he starts immediately, not breaking eye contact which makes my cheeks feel hot. “I asked myself that question a lot, too, way before I confessed to you. Of course it was confusing at first but it was no use fighting it. I have no idea when I started to like you, just like how no one knows when exactly the weather turns from spring to summer or from summer to fall. Eventually, I just started feeling differently towards you. A feeling that is hard to explain through words.”
I just nod lightly, looking down at his bare muscled chest. Once again, not knowing how to respond. He pretty much spelled out my answer to that question too.
He scoots closer to me and touches my nose with his, his forehead on mine. “I’m just lucky enough that you like me too,” he says, tears shape up in his eyes.
“Oh, Hyung,” I empathize, putting my arm around him. “I can’t wait to tell the guys.”
“Really? You want to tell them right away?”
“Yes, they’re our best friends. I’m sure they’ll be happy for us.”
“Okay, let’s tell them together then.”
After we have our little conversation, we just stay nose to nose and embrace each other’s blissful presence for a while. Then once again, our mouths touch, as well as our naked bodies, and experience the taste of pleasure we have for each other.

Chapter 5: The Boy Who Said ‘Always’
Lei’s POV
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thirteen is a landmark age for everybody, I think. When I was thirteen, my life took off in a positive direction, but there were some drawbacks.
Sehun finally made his debut as an idol, attracting the attention and admiration that he always deserved. This wasn’t such a bad thing in itself, but I had seen less and less of him in the weeks leading up to his debut, and I almost stopped seeing him altogether once he was officially a member of EXO. It was a little sad, only being able to see him from the opposite side of a screen when he had been before my eyes for all those years, but I was happy that his dreams were being realized.
Maybe missing him would have been more crippling had I not been so busy with my own projects. Every morning, Amber and I sprinted through the halls of studios downtown to catch idols for interviews before their promotional stages. By the afternoon, I was back in the training studio with people closer to me in age and experience, working toward our shared goal of becoming real idols too.
Why I Experienced A Surge In Happiness At Thirteen:
I spent most of my time with Amber, who I admired deeply.
Speaking to such a vast collection of idols every morning taught me what I was training for: the opportunity to entertain others and express myself through art.
Johnny, Mark, and many of the others who would go on to form NCT took me under their wing on co-ed days.
Joy looked out for me on girls’ training days.
With Johnny, Mark, the rest of NCT, and Joy on my side, the mean girls were much less vocal in their bullying.
I know that this is kind of silly since I swear I believed Sehun when he taught me that others’ approval (or disapproval) didn’t define me, but I remember smiling from ear to ear when Amber showed me all of the supportive comments from people who called themselves my fans just from watching me interview idols with her. So many people cheered for me even though I hadn’t debuted or shown any hint of talent yet.
Tumblr media
Even then, it occurred to me that Amber had carefully combed through all of the comments only to show me the uplifting messages, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to dwell on criticisms that I couldn’t see— especially not when she had gone to such lengths to inspire me. Besides, having just been freed from my braces, I embraced almost every opportunity to smile and boast my lack of a gap.
Those days weren’t necessarily easy or perfect, but they were simpler (at least in part) because I did not yet have to manage my image on social media. In my dealings with the public, I followed Amber’s lead and trusted that everything would work out. Now that I am older and I better understand those responsibilities, I hope that I wasn’t a burden to her.
The thing is, Amber never treated me like a burden. In many ways, she almost acted as if we were equal— as if she didn’t outrank me in age and experience in the industry. Still, she was responsible, protective, and considerate of me, all without ever boasting about what she did for me. Those days of following her lead shaped me more than I can ever explain.
If you imagine the perfect older sister, I promise that Amber was better in every way. She proved that every day and especially when we went to Japan for the S.M. showcase and she coordinated that belated surprise for my birthday.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because that week in Japan marked my first break from training since I started a year prior, the trip was something like a vacation for me. My only responsibility was to help Amber vlog backstage. Once I was done with that, I reported to Super Junior’s dressing room, where Mom had set up a big screen for me to watch all of the performances without getting in anybody’s way.
I was alone, but I had long since learned to entertain myself. When a song I especially liked played through the speakers (spoiler: being first and foremost S.M. trash, I liked every song), I would set my popcorn down at my feet to stand and emulate the choreography while singing along.
Suffice it to say, then, that I was having the time of my life before the morning Amber tiptoed into my hotel room to tug me out of bed before the sun had emerged from its place tucked behind the clouds.
I knew that we were going somewhere special when she gave me a gift bag containing a pair of bubble gum pink overalls. To avoid waking Mom, who was sprawled out and snoring into her pillow, Amber whispered, “Happy Late Birthday! Hurry up and change into that. They’re waiting for us downstairs.”
Amber had been careful not to name who was waiting for us downstairs, but I wouldn’t have believed her if she had. Never in a million years would I have dreamed of meeting Key and Minho in the hotel lobby. They stood, bickering, by the front doors.
I guess Amber wasn’t expecting to see Key either. Furrowing her brows at him, she demanded, “What are you doing here?”
Key scoffed, “Good morning to you too,” but I caught the ghost of a dimple in his left cheek and figured that he was one of many who had a thing for Amber.
She seemed a little oblivious, wrinkling her forehead as she crossed her arms. “Where is Taemin?”
“Yeah.” Minho hurled fire at Key with his eyes as he repeated, “Where is Taemin?”
Key shrugged. “Fast asleep, I guess.” And Minho rolled his eyes.
My face, red enough from being so close to members of my all-time favorite group, darkened with the repeated references to Taemin, who must have been my ultimate bias. I breathed, heart pounding as I was trapped somewhere between relief and disappointment at the realization that he wouldn’t be joining us.
Too overwhelmed by Key and Minho and Taemin’s mere name, I didn’t even notice that Sehun was standing in a darkened corner until he said, “It looks like it’s going to rain soon. Shouldn’t we try to beat the rain?”
Something I can’t understand washed over me. Never in the years of knowing Sehun had I ever embraced him before, so I don’t know what I was thinking when I ran to him and threw my arms around his waist. It couldn’t have lasted for more than a second. As soon as I realized what I was doing, I released him, blushing harder than I had in my entire life.
Thankfully, Key and Minho were too focused on Amber (who was too busy trying to figure out where Taemin was) to witness my utter humiliation. The only witness was Sehun, who only blinked at me. A corner of his lips flicked upward as he waved. “Hi.”
He must have been in a good mood that day. When I finally gathered the courage to meet his gaze, he wasn’t glaring at me. Maybe because I was embarrassed enough without his lecture, he didn’t bother to correct my behavior.
I imitated his tiny smile and waved back. “Hi.”
And then I felt it all at once: how much I missed our everyday interactions— that I was no longer the only one who thought he was the most handsome person— that while I had naturally memorized his every word and every expression, while I had appreciated our every scattered moment, something about Sehun was past tense.
And I had never known to prepare myself for the feeling that I was saying goodbye to something that I couldn’t name but loved nonetheless. I probably couldn’t have prepared myself anyway, and I wouldn’t have wanted to risk ruining the days that are now memories by anticipating the end, but I was so caught off guard by the influx of emotions at the sight of Sehun that (all day) I struggled to catch my breath.
I couldn’t quite hear Minho tattle to Amber that Key had stolen Taemin’s ticket to Sanrio Puroland— I couldn’t quite smile about the surprise destination or mourn the missed opportunity to meet my ultimate idol— over the screaming thought that they were slipping away — or maybe (deep down I knew) they were already gone: the days of sitting by Sehun’s side.
It’s sad that so many details of what could have been our last golden day are lost in my memory. Even as I sit here, trying to dust off the memories off with my pen, all I can recover is the all-consuming fear that I was losing him who was never mine.
There is something sad about the passive love I had for Sehun. No matter how we changed, no matter how many days passed, no matter how the trees and flowers wilted and blossomed, come rain or shine, whether we spoke every day or never again, I would always want to see him just one more time. Always, even if one of us should try to strike it dead, even if one of us should try to forget, my one hope would be to see him happy.
The sad part is: I never willingly gave him my heart. Sehun had it from the moment we met. While something about that is very sweet and childlike and beautiful, it is cruelly unfair. Had my heart ever been mine to give, I probably would have given it to him anyway, but that’s not the point.
I read once that you don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you. I never got a say in who hurt me. If I had gotten a say in who hurt me, though, I probably still would have chosen Sehun. Like that book said, I probably would have liked my choice.
Anyway, here is what I remember. Here is what I can never forget:
Minho and Key, in their competition for Amber’s attention, had trampled on Sehun’s last nerve, so he wordlessly gestured me away from the group, toward a cotton candy stand.
Nobody noticed the almost childlike smile that grew on his face as he asked, “You like the little bunny, right?” He pointed to bright pink cotton candy shaped in My Melody’s image, and I nodded, too stunned that he remembered my favorite Sanrio character to speak.
When you love somebody the way I loved Sehun, you imagine that there is some deep significance to everything they say and do. Maybe that’s foolish. Or maybe something perceived or imagined is somehow real too. I don’t know.
Even on the most superficial level, I appreciated the smile he concealed behind the tall cotton candy before he entrusted it to me.
Chest heavy and aching for reasons even his apparent happiness couldn’t drive away— wondering if it was normal to want to cry even in the presence of someone who makes your heart flutter— wondering how it was possible to miss somebody right in front of me, right in arm’s reach— I started to say that the candy was too cute to eat.
Then, feeling like that was a weird thing to say, I decided to ask Sehun to take a picture so I could remember this moment later when my thoughts weren’t quite so bitter and only sweetness remained, but I never got the chance.
Dark storm clouds rolled in overhead and spilled cold rain on us without warning. By the time Sehun pulled me under some pastel pink and blue umbrella, much of the candy had dissolved into a shapeless pink blob.
“Sorry,” Sehun muttered as if he had caused the rain. He held his hand out, and I don’t think I would have given him the spoiled candy had I known that he would toss it into the trash bin without hesitation. He promised my devastated expression, “I’ll buy you another one once the rain lets up.”
Frowning, but not quite on the verge of tears, I mumbled, “I didn’t even get to take a picture.”
He raised an eyebrow at me. “What a weird thing to say. You were never meant to photograph it. You should be whining, ‘I didn’t get to take a single bite.’”
I said, “People mourn tragedies differently, Sehun,” and I know he wanted to laugh at my dramatic reaction, but he was kind enough to bite back his snickers. And although I had forbidden myself from saying so, when I glanced over at him, and my heart tremored, I blurted, “I miss you.”
Again, he remarked, “What a weird thing to say.” Often when we spoke, Sehun looked away from me, toward something in the distance, but he had been eyeing me strangely since I hugged him in the hotel lobby. I always regretted hugging him. “How can you miss me when I’m standing right beside you?”
Why couldn’t he ever just accept how I felt? Always, always, always, I was embarrassed after revealing my feelings to him, but no shame was ever enough to remind me to bite my tongue. Something about him always compelled me toward honesty.
My face flushed, and I shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe you’re just not the same person you used to be.” Sehun grunted as if I had knocked the breath out of him, but I knew that I wasn’t strong enough to do that, especially not with words. “Maybe I loved—”
I hadn’t meant to say that. I meant to say ‘liked,’ but ‘loved’ came out of my mouth instead. I carried on as if I had made no mistake (and maybe I hadn’t), “— who you were as a trainee, and now—”
Why had I said anything at all? I made no sense. My gaze fell somewhere around my feet, somewhere in a shallow puddle. “Well, we never really were equals, huh?”
“I’m not different,” Sehun claimed instantly as if he somehow understood my gibberish.
I argued, “I’m not saying that you tried to change. You just have because that’s what people do.”
“Not me.” I watched Sehun shake his head, but I didn’t look too closely at his face. “And not you either. I’m still me, and you’re still you, so I don’t know why you’re so upset.”
“You really don’t think I’ve changed at all since we met?” I don’t know what I expected. I had always suspected that Sehun would only see me as the nine-year-old he met by the vending machine, but I was somehow disappointed.
Fidgeting under my skeptical stare, Sehun conceded, “Well, obviously some things are different. You’re older and taller. You sound a little different. You don’t look at things with little stars in your eyes anymore, and you don’t walk with your head down like you did last year, but—” He rolled his eyes when I raised my eyebrows to say ‘I told you so,’ — “what matters hasn’t changed.”
Because I didn’t know, I asked, “What matters?”
Sehun shook his head, finally looking away from me as he stuffed his fists into his pockets. “If you don’t know, there’s no point in telling you.” His voice, usually so calm and collected, burned me. I gasped at his temper, and he swallowed his frustration to say, “Words can’t convince anybody that you care about them.”
My jaw dropped. “You care about me?” The answer must have been obvious from the way Sehun cut his eyes at me.
When my cheeks turned red and I looked away, he quietly said, “I don’t like saying these things, Lei, so you’re going to have to put two and two together to realize that I’m always going to look out for you.” I didn’t think it was possible, but his voice dropped even lower when he breathed, “You’re going to have to realize for yourself that it hurts my feelings when you accuse me of changing.”
I almost choked on the humid air. “Your feelings?”
He frowned at my reaction, a thin line forming between his eyebrows as he drew them together. “Yes. I have them too, you know, even if I don’t spill them everywhere.”
Apparently, I had accidentally touched some nerve, but I didn’t think that justified Sehun’s harsh words. “I don’t spill my feelings everywhere.”
I glared at him, thinking that I would have apologized for hurting his feelings if he hadn’t set out to hurt mine too. “I only spill them to you because—” He gave me that warning stare, but I wasn’t going to say anything bad, so I frowned at him for always expecting the worst from me— “I trust you.”
Sehun seemed surprised that I could admit something so nice in the midst of what had become an argument. His eyes widened, and his expression softened as he reminded, “You shouldn’t trust boys.”
Almost teasingly, I lied, “I don’t really see you as a boy, though.” Sehun snorted, so I maintained, donning my most solemn expression, “Really, I don’t! I see you as more of a guardian angel.” Even when he was mean for the briefest second, I only thought good things about him.
“A guardian angel?” Sehun repeated, chewing on his grin. “I should warn you that the more you expect from somebody, the likelier they are to disappoint you— even if they really don’t want to.”
“You can’t disappoint me,” I said, “because I don’t expect anything from you.” Even while living in the moment, I knew that Sehun didn’t believe me, but I promised anyway, “I won’t get mad at you even if you get tired of looking out for me. I get that most people don’t mean words like ‘always’ and ‘forever’ and ‘never.’”
“I wish you didn’t know that,” Sehun said so quickly that I almost thought I imagined is voice. “I mean those words when I say them, though.”
That was the first time that I didn’t believe him wholeheartedly even though I wanted to. I didn’t think that Sehun was purposely lying or anything; I just think that some words are too big— too infinite— for people to understand well enough to use truthfully. It’s an accidental dishonesty. It’s enough that somebody wants it to be true. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
“Okay.” I nodded as if that would bridge my unbelief and the growing ever-present distance between us that he couldn’t feel yet, that he would probably (hopefully) never feel.
With nothing left to say, we stood together under the umbrella, waiting for the storm to pass so we could step back out into the day, but it rained for as long as I can remember. It rained even on the way home.
Yes, I’m still sad that I didn’t get a picture of that moment when I held the cotton candy in those seconds before the storm, but I think it’s sadder that I don’t have a single picture of Sehun from those days. I guess I should take comfort in the fact that the details still haven’t been forgotten; maybe that means they never will be.

You let out a groan as your head fell onto your desk. These past few days had been rough for you. Despite the attempts at making advances with 4 and 88 nothing seemed to happen. They stayed together over these course of days, and 4 seemed a lot brighter because of it but there weren’t many questions answered for either Mark or you. At least 88 didn’t take the chances offered to him to escape again.
You let out a sigh pushing yourself up from your desk rubbing your eyes trying to fight off the exhaustion that had taken over your body. Coffee didn’t seem to be doing the trick anymore.. You pushed back away from your desk before standing. Grabbing your tablet you exited your office, the automatic sliding door making little to no noise as it closed behind you but compared to the noise of the sector it was almost deafening to your tired mind.
The lights in the hallway were dimmed to help represent the night time in the underground center. You couldn’t help but let another sigh escape you as you moved down the hall to the elevators. The soft tapping of your shoes against the floor and the humming of the lights were the only thing filling the silence. The elevator doors opened to you shortly after you pressed the call button. You figured at least someone would be inside considering there was always staff present at the center but who was inside was not someone you were ever expecting to see.
“Subject 2?” You asked, surprise clear in your voice.
His voice was plain as he spoke to you. “Y/N.” His eyes dull as you remember when you last spoke to him.
“It’s nice to see you moving around 2.” You commented as you stepped inside, trying to keep your voice polite despite how exhausted you felt. You looked at the man from the corner of your eye, making a mental note to mark down that 2 was moving around again after a long time. Even with his free roam privileges he rarely left his room.
“What floor?” He asked in his flat, quiet voice, before adding. “And I told you to call me Taemin many times now.” He mentioned. Despite how plain his voice was, you could still hear the slight anger in it over his name.
You knew he wanted you to use his real name, but you wouldn’t, you couldn’t. You didn’t want to get attached to any of them even though it may have already started. You had remembered times back when you first started that 2 would smile all the time. He had somewhat of a gummy smile. His checks would look something akin to mochi as soon as he grinned, but just like 4, you never saw it anymore. You loved their smiles but they never showed anymore. Eventually all of your subjects became that way despite your attempts at preventing it. It wasn’t your choice to keep them here, but choices made by someone else. You were just doing your job.
You covered your mouth letting out a wide yawn. “To the dorms.”
“You never get out of this place do you?” He asked, his dull eyes glancing your way. “Even though you have the option you choose not to leave.” You could tell there was some contempt in his voice. If it was for you or for his situation you didn’t know. If it was for both you didn’t blame him.
You shook your head. “There isn’t a need for me too. I have nothing out there for me.” You said plainly. It was true. Everything you had before didn’t matter to you anymore. It was in the past and it was going to stay in the past where it belonged. “Everything I need is right here.” The only times you went out to was to restock on food when you were tired of food the research center provided. It wasn’t exactly an exciting life that most people wanted but you enjoyed it. Sometimes you did long for something different but your life was fine just the way it was. You were happy here, or so you thought.
You heard a small, almost silent, scoff come from the man in the enclosed space with you. You just ignored it knowing his issues with his current situation. You didn’t know exactly how many years had passed since he had been here. He was here when you first arrived. He was your first subject.. He was so bright back then.. You missed it. You missed who he used to be, but you were sure that he had seen you change too. Probably not for the better either.
You sat in silence with him not really minding it or ignoring the awkwardness that was actually there as the two of you ignored each other. Soon the doors opened, you stepped out. Taemin’s gaze followed after you.
“Goodnight Y/N.” He called after you his tone remaining flat.
“Night 2.” You called back somewhat softly.
You heard him scoff followed by something about his actual name, which you ignored before disappearing inside your room for the night.
Your eyes flung open as soon as a familiar sound was going off on your tablet. You sat up instantly at the sound. That wasn’t your alarm…
You quickly scrambled out of your small bed before moving your way over to your tablet. The alert coming from your sector ignoring the bright 4 am that reflected at you. You quickly brought up the alert on your tablet trying to figure out what was going on. Did something happen with 4 and 88? Or was it 2? You read the alert before freezing at the subject number you saw.
109…
Oh no.. You couldn’t have guards responding to that or else it would end up worse than it needed to be. Quickly you scrambled to your feet, pulling your white coat over your comfy clothes, slipping on the nearest shoes, grabbing the radio and bringing the tablet along with you as you headed for the elevator.
You quickly stepped inside the elevator, mashing the button to your sector numerous times, trying to get the elevator to move faster even though it wouldn’t change the speed at all. You pulled out your radio saying that you were responding to the alert about 109, that they didn’t need to send any guards. Once they acknowledged what you had said, you relaxed a little bit.
As soon as the doors opened on the elevator you rushed down the hallway not paying any mind as you passed 2 on your way to 109. His eyes followed you with disinterest.
As soon as you reached the door at the end of the hallway you could feel it. The pain was already creeping its way inside your head. You quickly released the lock on the door stepping inside. As soon as the door was released you could feel the pain growing significantly.
You stepped up to the glass wall that allowed you to see 109 and for him to see you. He was settled in the middle of the room. His eyes wide and locked to the floor. You could see the red marks on his arms from where his fingers were digging into his skin. His moment was getting the better of him, but you couldn’t step inside the danger was too great.
You quickly tapped something in your tablet before speaking up. “109, you are okay just take a deep breath.” You stated tensely as the pain was becoming unbearable at this point but you had to push through. You had to help 109.
You had to close one of your eyes so you could focus on the man just inside of the room despite the pain making your eyes sensitive. He didn’t move at all just remaining in his spot, even with your words trying to break him out of it. At this point one of his nails dug into his skin enough breaking the surface allowing red to flow free.
“No.. No no..” You muttered softly to yourself. It’s been a while since it had been this bad.
“109!” You called out again, your hand coming up hitting the glass with some force. He still didn’t budge. Your single opened eye locked onto the spot on his arm as more red was dragged out.
“Shit.. Shit.. Shit..” You muttered to yourself. You dropped the tablet on the ground. Ignoring the the pain that had you feeling like you were going to pass out. It was creeping into your body at this point making you want to dig into your skin to have something else to focus on other than the pain.
You hurriedly entered the code into the keypad beside the door, before rushing inside. Your brain realizing the number name won’t work, instead calling out his real name. “Taeyong!” You shouted. You collapsed at the floor near him your arms wrapping around him, pulling his hands away from his skin but in response his nails dug into you, not that you cared at the current moment. The pain he was giving you through his ability was far worse than his nails.
As soon as you said his true name again, you noticed that it seemed to calm him down. Everything beyond that, what sent him into these moments, what pulled him out, you didn’t know.
You had your hand on the back of his head, pushing his head into your shoulder. His claw like nails dug into the clothes on your back while the other hand dug into your bare arm, surely drawing blood.
“It’s okay..” You told him softly, gently rocking him as best as you could considering he was larger than you. “You are okay now..” You repeated those two phrases numerous times before finally the pain he was inducing started to settle, providing you with relief.
You knew you were breaking protocol, but you couldn’t risk Taeyong taking steps backwards in his progress because of guards or being placed under a special watch. You knew you would get an earful from Mark in the morning. He had access to all of the footage in your sector, and as soon as he saw this he would have a heart attack. At this particular moment you didn’t care about Mark, your subjects and getting answers were more important, rules and your safety be damned. You would always place their safety above anything else, even if it meant protecting them from each other.
As the pain slowly faded from your head so did his vice like grip on your body. Though as the pain receded, you could feel a dull throbbing in your arm. A slight sting could be felt where his nails still made contact with your arm, causing you to curse at yourself mentally. He broke the skin on your arm causing you to bleed, but you couldn’t bring yourself to abandon 109, even if your arm hurt.
Now that the situation wasn’t as critical as it was a moment before, you finally found a chance to look around the room for any details on what would have caused this. The place was trashed. What little collections 109 had were scattered about, luckily most of the objects weren’t fragile but still it was going to take time to clean. Your eyes continued to scan the room, looking for anything that would signify why 109 had a moment like this or if there was more damage done to your subject than what you had initially noticed. All you could see for the most part was just a mess that needed to be cleaned.
You were pulled out of your thoughts by a harsh shove. Your eyes focusing back to Taeyong as he moved backwards, rushing to his feet. Fear and concern briefly flashed across his features before being replaced with anger.
“You.. What are you doing here?” He asked harshly.
“I..” You started, realising you were letting your feelings, your fear, get the better of you, but for good reason. 109 was considered the most aggressive out of all the subjects you studied. He repeatedly expressed his contempt for you and Mark.
You slowly rose to your feet, your position defensive. “I was helping you. I refused to let the guards come in and make things worse so it was up to me.” You told him truthfully. There wasn’t any use in lying to him.
Taeyong’s eyes narrowed as he stared you down. It always felt like he was staring right into your soul whenever he looked at you like that. It was very unsettling and only added to your fear, and your concern for him.
“Get out.” He demanded.
“109..”
“I said get out!” He yelled at you, a resounding sharp pain moving through your body at the same time.
You let out a strangled noise before backing up to the door, not taking your eyes off of him. Once you passed through the frame you closed the door instantly. The door breaking off some of his abilities influence, but even so he could make it worse if he wanted to. No matter how the staff tried to proof his room against his ability, he still managed to bypass it no matter what.
Your body was shaking from the amount of pain you had just gone through. You moved forward grabbing the tablet off the ground from where you stood outside his room moments before. You could feel his eyes on you still, the lower part of the glass wall being the only part that was two way.
You straightened out, and turned towards the exit to the containment. You paused to look at him once, a sigh escaping you once you noticed he hadn’t moved. You finally walked away and out of the containment area.
As soon as your gaze fell off of him, his glare dropped. The dark look on his face softening as soon as he noticed the injury, the red blood slowly dripping down your arm. You were clearly ignoring it. Concern gripped at him momentarily, but it was gone as soon as you stepped out of his sight. 109 turned towards the mess he had to clean up with a sigh. Why did he let you get close?
You sat in your office, reviewing the footage from last night. Instead of returning to your dorm like you thought you would, you were writing down your findings from your encounter with 109. Even the smallest detail you could remember was jotted down trying to find some connection, some semblance of answer for the numerous questions you had about 109.. While you had more details on the usually cold man, all you found were more questions than answers. A frustrated sigh escaped you as you sat back in your chair, running a hand through your hair. You stared at the ceiling, racking your brain for any possible answer.
As soon as you heard the door open you lifted your hand. “I don’t wanna hear it.”
“Ooohhh, What did you do? Does it have anything to do with 4 and 88?” You mentally groaned at the voice that you heard instead of Mark’s but at the same time you were relieved. You weren’t about to get yelled at. Yet.
“Oh it’s just you.” You said plainly.
“I know you are happy to see me. You might be able to mask your tone in disappointment but I know you’re excited that I’m here.” Ten replied. You didn’t even need to look at him to know he had a smirk on his face.
“Ten for someone who likes to have free roam privileges you really like to push all the buttons you can.” You informed him, trying to make a threat to get him to shut up.
“Oh please. You wouldn’t ever take them. You would have to go back to watching me hours on end only to find nothing just like 2. You and I both know that you really wouldn’t want to do that considering that you can spend more time on the others especially 211.” You finally straightened out to see him sitting in one of the chairs opposite to you, hunched over with his head on his arms which were crossed on your desk.
“You really like shoving yourself into business that doesn’t involve you, don’t you?” You asked him, your dull eyes looking down straight at him.
“You know it sweetheart.” He said with a wink.
“That doesn’t fluster me anymore, Ten.” All of your research subjects were incredibly attractive, and when you first met Ten his favorite pastime was making you blush, but it happened so often that you just got used to it.
He let out a small deep chuckle. “If I really wanted to make you blush I could, don’t doubt me, love.” His voice had gotten slightly deeper, and you would admit it had gotten to you a little bit, but on the outside you remained cool and collected. A simple shake of your head had him dropping all of his charm, returning back to his usual bored nature.
You heard intake a breath signaling he was about to speak again when the door to your office slammed open. Standing in your door was a very pissed off looking Mark. You could feel your stomach drop from the look on his face alone.
A sinister chuckle escaped from Ten. “Oh you are in for it now.” You glared at the other man, but it was too late to do anything about him now.
Mark stormed inside your office, his hands slamming down on your desk causing you to flinch away from him. “What the hell were you thinking?”
If it wasn’t for the fact that Mark was scaring the crap out of you right now, you would have kicked the smug look right off of Ten’s face.
You just looked at Mark waiting on him to continue, if you spoke up now it wouldn’t do anything to help you. Despite how scared you were of Mark and his concern for you, you were also in charge of this sector too. He didn’t have power over you, but you didn’t have power over him.
“Going into 109’s room like that? Why the hell didn’t you just call the guards? We had just talked about this the other day, and you did exactly what you said you wouldn’t do! You and I both know how dangerous 109 is!”
You couldn’t meet his eyes anymore. Choosing to look down at your desk instead. “Look.. I didn’t want to take a step backwards with him. It is bad enough that we can barely do anything with him. We can’t afford to lose progress.” You defended yourself in a small voice.
Mark remained silent for a moment, you could feel his eyes boring into you. “Show me your arm.”
“What?” You asked looking up at him, slight fear shining in your eyes, not noticing Ten’s entertained look dropping from his facing quickly turning to concern.
“Show me your arm.” Mark demanded once again. “Now.” You let out a sigh, lifting your left arm to him.
He pulled up your sleeve, despite how angry his voice sounded, his touch was very gentle and he was careful pulling off your bandage. Right on your forearm sat four angry red lines, that were slowly scabbing over. It wasn’t too deep but it was certainly going to take a bit to heal.
Mark lifted a hand to his face covering his mouth, as his eyes studied your injury. You couldn’t tell what he was thinking as he observed. You just watched and waited to see what would happen next. This has never happened before. Sure 109 has acted aggressive and had acted out against guards but never once has he hurt you or Mark so this was a first.
You could hear a soft, “What the fuck..” Coming from where Ten was sitting but you were too concerned with what Mark was doing, what he was thinking, to be able to react to the research subject sitting in your office.
A sigh escaped your partner as he replaced the badage. “You need to stop acting so rashly. Your life isn’t as lesser to theirs as you think it is.”
You froze. He never brought it up so directly like this. You always had a feeling he knew, that you didn’t value your life as much as your research or your subjects. It shouldn’t be surprising to you considering he was just as smart as you were, maybe more. The two of you were close, and the both of you trained together to pick be able to pick up on any mental change in your subjects so it wasn’t surprising that he was able to pick up on your mental state.
Your gaze fell back to your desk again.
“Ten, go somewhere else please. For right now.” Mark ordered his voice returning to his normal tone, but you could hear the anger, the concern. You didn’t want to deal with this. You didn’t even hear a response from Subject 10. The door closing was good enough to know he left.
“Look Y/N. I know it’s something hard to change, to fix, but you have to. I don’t know when you picked this up, but I know for a fact you didn’t used to be this way.” He moved over to your side, wrapping an arm around your shoulders pulling you close to give you some sort of comfort knowing you weren’t happy with the topic at hand.
“But I’m partially to blame for not noticing this change sooner, for not trying to step in sooner.” You looked up at him saying this, shock clear on your face.
As soon as you regained your thoughts, you shook your head. “No. You can’t put this on you. It's not your fault.” What he saw, what he used to see anyway.. You were like this before but that was before you joined the research center. You just never noticed you were slipping back into old habits, using your subjects to justify your actions.
“I..” You swallowed before speaking up again. “I will try to act better Mark.. I know you are concerned.” You fiddled with your hands out of anxiousness.
“That is all I ask. Come on give me a hug, and let’s get to work.” Mark pulled you close for a hug which you gladly returned, the comfort from it helping to get rid of some of the stress you were certainly feeling. You were glad you were able to form such a strong friendship with your research partner.
“I will even stay late today so that you can get some rest.” He said with his usual smile on his face as he pulled you to your feet.
“Hmm.. I dunno about that I take my job pretty seriously.” You said jokingly as you grabbed your tablet before he pulled you out the door.
As a few days passed, not much had changed with your research subjects. 109 had shown no change or any sign of the event that occurred a few days prior.
You hadn’t seen 2 again since that night. Every time you checked the video feed on your tablet he was in his room, not once even showing interest in stepping back out again.
There was no progress made with 88 and 4 but there was certainly a change in their moods. As you stood there and observed from the upper floor of the containment you could see 4’s smile. It was bright, full of life, something that you haven’t seen in a long time. Though as 4 spent more time with 88 the more and more you had seen his smile. The more you saw his old personality return.
You turned to your partner who was sitting in a chair just behind you. You let out a small sigh, you couldn’t believe you were doing this. “I’m guessing he is ready to get inside the room.”
Mark let out a chuckle. “Yeah. He has been more on my nerves than usual this morning.” He stood up from the chair after everything was adjusted according to what needed to be done for this test.
As much as the two of you didn’t want 88 in the room when you introduced 10 and 4 every time the two of you tried to return him to his original containment he would be out and back in 4’s room in no time at all. The Higher ups really needed to get that ability proofing all over the sector but it was money they didn’t have at the moment and the fact that it had to be specialized for every single ability that was contained in your sector.
Another sigh escaped you. More risks to consider. You almost didn’t let this test go through considering it would be two against one if the situation went south. Neither Mark or you could step in considering the lack of abilities.
You took a moment looking down at the two who didn’t know you were there. The two were just sitting close by each other, talking casually. As annoying as Ten was you were still afraid for him. He was still someone you were supposed to look after. It took a whole hour of him convincing you that he would be fine for you to finally go through with the test.
To say the least you were filled with dread. Dull eyes looked at the two currently in the room before you pushed a hand through your hair. You glanced at Mark as he stepped up by your side. His hand placed on your shoulder in a reassuring manner.
“Let him in.”

friend or foe | chapter 3.
Tumblr media
pairing: kim taehyung x reader fandoms (in this chapter): bts ; snsd ; g-idle ; shinee warnings: non idol!au ; supernatural!au ; cult!au ; death genre: angst ; mystery ; smut previous: 1 ; 2 word count: 2.3k+
summary: when you were younger, stories of vampires, demons and other monsters used to keep you up at night, until you grew up and realized none of them were real. that’s what you continued to believe until you found yourself mixed up with a cult that had these same exact monsters as members and you weren’t sure if you were going to be their next meal or if they had something else in mind for you..
a/n: a little bit more backstory, that I GENUINELY enjoy to write. I hope you enjoy the story as a whole too ♥
Tumblr media
The clicking of heels made Taemin roll his eyes.
Whoever came here to disturb him was annoying him already. Whether it was Sunmi, Yeri, Yuqi or..-
“Where is he? Where is Taehyung?”
Yoona.
That one was ten times worse than who he had expected.
“I have no idea where he is. I just came here for a drink,” he held up his refilled cup and downed it in one go, placing it onto the bar again and waiting for the bartender to re-fill it.
“He promised he would let me do this. He promised he wouldn't just take her and tell her all of it!”
“You know how he can be. He's impatient. He wanted her.”
“Yeah, well.. he messed up. I doubt she'll want to join our cause after all of this.”
“And you really think he'd care if she wouldn't?” finally he laughed and turned around, grinning at Yoona with his drink loosely between his fingers, “Face it, baby. Your sister is stuck with us now, whether she wants to be here or not.”
And see, Yoona was usually one of the composed ones in this group that they have formed. She had always been very rational and knew that to make this work, you were needed. As much as she had wanted protect you, she knew that there had to be the day you had to find out.
So maybe some people, and that currently includes you, were thinking she only took care of you for their cause of living in a world where they didn’t have to be ashamed and worried about their powers, when in reality, she took care of you because she loved you like you were her own daughter. Not sister, not aunt, but daughter. She was the same age as your mother, she might as well could have been.
And so when someone like Taemin said something like that..
..she revealed her true powers.
One second she was there, the next she was right in front of him, her eyes glowing blue and her hand wrapped around his throat, pressing on his air ways so hard that his black demon eyes showed and he was ready to fight if need be.
But before the situation could escalate any further, the man she had been looking for was standing in the room.
“That's enough, Yoona. Let him go.”
She shook her head just enough to get out of her raging state after a few seconds, then took a step back and brushed over her clothes, clearing her throat before she turned around to look at him.
How come he always looked so confident? She could snap him in half if she wanted to.
“You promised me.”
“I know,” Taehyung's expression changed to an almost.. sad one, but not quite, “But it had to be done now. We're losing more people than we're gaining them. We.. I..- need her,” he admitted.
“That's why I told you to let me handle this,” she crossed her arms in front of her chest, “You threw her into a world she doesn't understand yet, a world she is still afraid of. Worse than that, you made me tell her about her family, without being able to prepare her for it.”
“That is your own fault. I told you that giving her fake memories of a family will make it harder for her in the end.”
Maybe.. but she thought it had been an act of kindness when in reality, giving you those fake memories was ten times crueler than living with the truth. The truth that you never had the parents that you thought you did.
“Just.. do me a favor,” Yoona sighed in defeat, “Stay away from her for now. You, Taemin, Sunmi.. you people scare her. If you want this to work, let her be around the.. nicer ones.”
“I am nice,” Taemin gulped down his drink, “Suuuuper nice.”
“You're also a demon. She sees your eyes, she'll run away screaming. She sees Sunmi's teeth, she'll start crying.”
Taehyung nodded, “Alright. For now, I will keep my distance. And you will too,” he looked at Taemin.
And only when Taehyung was gone, did Taemin mutter, “I really can't stand him, you know? I wish one of the others had gotten his position.”
Tumblr media
You looked out of your window with a small smile, watching an elven girl play with her father, pure bliss on their faces as they ran around in the gardens, hid from each other and then chased the other one again.
They're not all bad, you told yourself. Some of them are kind, like Jieun. Like Yuqi. Like Yeri.
But it wasn't easy to forget about the ones that weren't.
You didn't try to run away anymore, but you weren't happy here either. You were still confused and most importantly, heartbroken, over the fake memories that had been implanted in your brain.
It dawned you more and more that you were completely and utterly alone in this world.
You had no one.. well, maybe..-
When someone knocked on your door, you turned around and saw the person that was responsible for said heartbreak.. indirectly.
“I don't want to talk to you.”
“I know,” Yoona said with a sad smile, “I.. just wanted to properly introduce you to someone.”
Yuqi had always appeared out of nowhere, scaring the shit out of you, but now she was walking in after Yoona with a smile that made you smile too.
“Hello. I'm Yuqi.”
“I know.. you're.. a ghost, right?”
“Ghost.. spirit..,” Yuqi shrugged, “I don't really care what you call me. I just think I'm super duper cool.”
“(Y/N).. Yuqi is very talented. She can't just disappear, but she can.. show you what once was.”
And you instantly knew what your 'sister' was trying to tell you.
“I'm sure it's very hard to believe everything you were told,” Yuqi grabbed your hands with a small smile, “So I'd like to show you.. because I think that if you see it with your own eyes, it will be easier to understand.”
You were scared when she said that.
Because deep down, you knew that what you were about to see would trigger something inside of you. It would erase those last hopes you held that all of this might just be a dream.
You were scared because.. you knew they were right.. and you weren't ready for the truth.
“I don't want you to look at me anymore like you look at me now,” Yoona said, still keeping her distance, “I want to prove to you that all I ever did was to protect you. That I love you and always have,” she choked out those last words, then bit down hard on her lip and lowered her head, “I want you to understand that you’re not as alone as you might think you are.”
Yuqi's smile faded, first looking at Yoona, then at you, “It won't just be a memory.. it will be like you're there. I will be with you every step of the way and if it becomes too much, I can pull you out.”
“I'm really scared,” you whispered to Yuqi
“Don't be.. you're strong, (Y/N). You can do this.”
And to Yoona's surprise, you reached out to her when you decided for the whole thing. She instantly approached you and held your hand, showing you that she'd be with you.
Like she had always been and like she always would be.
Despite you being angry with her, in all of this, Yoona was the only one you felt safe with here. Truly safe.
After taking one, two, three deep breaths, you nodded, giving Yuqi the go for.. whatever it was that was about to happen.
You closed your eyes, only for a second.. and only opened them again when you heard.. war.
It was an unfamiliar place, yet it felt like you had been here before.
The sky.. the sky looked different. It might have been beautiful once, but now it was gray, ash from the raging fires polluting the air, something that looked like air fighters flying above your heads and exploding, metal pieces falling to the ground, making you flinch, afraid they might hit you.
“Don't be scared.. this is the past, nothing here can hurt you,” Yuqi assured you.
But she was wrong.
This would hurt you. Not physically maybe, but emotionally?
It would probably ruin you.
Yoona interlinked her fingers with yours and gently pulled you towards a castle. It was massive, looked like it was built purely out of steel, but at the same time it looked like it was built out of diamonds. Even with all this ash around you, it still had a shine to it. Once, it was probably magnificent. Unbreakable.
But now it looked like it was on the brink of falling apart.
And while you were walking towards it, Yoona once again told the story of what had happened: “Your parents were good rulers. They were just, gave their people everything they needed and more. This war.. it never should have started. People and supernatural beings were living together peacefully.. but see, supernatural beings were and still are, a lot more powerful than any human being ever could be. And humans.. they can be greedy, cruel monsters when they want to be. They didn't think it was fair that supernatural beings existed. So they decided that getting rid of them would only be fair to them..”
Yoona gulped down hard, stopping when she saw four men pin down a boy not older than seventeen and killing him without batting an eyelash, then laughing.
Only because his ears were sharper than theirs.
Your eyes widened, taking a step back and bumping into Yuqi, who immediately wrapped an arm around your shoulder and smiled encouragingly.
“There were too many of them.. and they took us by surprise. Most of us didn't have a chance. They caught us while we went home from work, stabbed us in the back like the cowards that they were. They killed babies, children, women, elderly.. it didn't matter to them. The moment they had powers that the humans could never have, was the moment their fate was to die.”
“Why.. didn't you fight back?” you asked carefully.
“We tried. Parents trying to save their children.. elders sacrificing themselves for the youngest.. but we had nowhere to go. Despite the galaxy being very advanced, none of us were prepared for an attack and while we were powerful, only a handful of us could travel between galaxies or to another planet. We used to be thousands..-” Yoona continued walking, past the screaming masses of her people that were being slaughtered, “In the end.. only a couple hundred survived. That's all that was left of our people in this galaxy. Every single planet rioted. Rioted against peaceful folk..”
“And.. what about.. the galaxy now?”
“It still exists. But.. there are no supernatural beings anymore. It is now ruled by humans.. they took what was rightfully ours and made it theirs. And now they tell stories of how they defeated the big, bad wolves, us, and saved all future generations from our wrath.”
Humans were always assholes. It didn't matter which galaxy they were living in, apparently, they would always take and then portray it as if they had no other choice.
“You said my father.. he died first?”
“He was a skilled fighter. The moment the war started, he was the first volunteer to help protect his people,” Yoona watched your father fight the people, ten against one. An unfair fight, but he did his best, “Your mother begged him not to, but he was a good king.. the best. He'd never abandon his people when they were in need.”
You stared at him for as long as you could, but Yoona didn't want you to see his death, so she pulled you along.
At least she didn’t change his face in the fake memories that she had given you. He looked like you.. remembered him.
“If it hadn't been for him, they would have broken through the gates of the castle a lot sooner.. then your mother never would have had the chance to send you away with me.”
“Why.. did she.. not come with us?”
“She thought she might still be able to save a few more people.. and.. she did. She saved around twenty more, most of them children, but.. by the time she wanted to join us, it was too late and they had gotten to her already.”
And then you saw her.
God, she was as beautiful as you remembered her, but her hair was long, wavy.. even during all of this, she now truly looked like how you had always imagined a goddess.
She was out of breath, clearly running to, or from something, looking around for a moment, before she let out one final breath and stopped moving.
All she did was turn her head and look directly at you.
Not through you, but at you. Into your eyes.
Like she could see you.
And all three of you froze.
Because, from what Yuqi said, this shouldn’t be possible. This was merely a memory, a vision from the past.
But your mother looked you dead in the eye and surprised you by saying: “Save our people, (Y/N).”
Yuqi was so shocked that she instantly pulled you all out of the memory, too worried about what had just happened and too worried about what it might do to you if she let it continue.
Your mother knew you were there. Not in that moment, not at that time, but.. years later, you would be there and you would look at her when you were so unsure about what your role was in all of this.
And she made it all clear to you in one single sentence.
You knew.
You were certain.
You could hear Yuqi and Yoona talk, but it was so faint, despite them being right next to you. All you could see were your mother's eyes, so full of sadness and.. guilt. Guilt that you had to be the one who was burdened with that task. All you could hear was how her voice was on the brink of breaking, how she was so close to tears..
Their death would not be in vain.
“Tell me what I need to do,” you suddenly said, making both Yoona and Yuqi look at you. Both of them were confused, but then you turned to look at them, your voice a lot more determined now, “I'm in.”

except of seven song’s from sung’s goodnight’s show on august 30th. from a mun perspective, six of these songs are just songs that got stuck in my head the last few days that i’ve compiled when i thought sung would like them. but LISSEN that is a valid way to compile this bc like i had mentioned in the last playlist, sung sometimes makes his list for the show in a similar way. this day, he was feeling a bit anxious, which led him to thinking of songs that both express that anxiety for him, and help him loosen that up. there are his pre-playing monologues for six of the tracks, and a longer para style explanation for the first because our songs

shakes amongst his bones felt almost like an ache. a near pain. sometimes, when sung had songs released, this feeling had flipped on its head, to the other side of the coin, bringing energy and endorphin raising excitement to his every move. this feeling was blackened with worry. for hours, he’d been flipping between wanting to completely avoid public reactions, and furiously seeking them out.
our songs wasn’t just about him. it was about his value as a songwriter, as element’s songwriter, and member, as an employee under gold star. he knew he’d worked himself up more than usual with those kinds of thoughts.
sung got into the sun’s goodnight studio early, fearing that his nerves might get the best of him and leave him messing up. after nearly two years on air, he didn’t want to be a disappointment now. he’d readied his papers, checked over his equipment again, and again, then again once more, before finally sitting down to wait out his signal.
his lungs filled, expanding his ribcage forward, and on its way out, his head swum.
“welcome to sun’s goodnight. i’m dj sun, and i’ll be spending the next while with you, as we chat, listen to music, and wind down our day. please listen well.” a brief pause, as he transitioned out of his opening statement. “today is a big day for dj sun. for those who don’t know me,” he said, though he hadn’t looked into the statistics in a while, it was likely still that many of the listeners weren’t directly his idol fans, “my name is choi joosung, and outside of this studio, i’m largely referred to as element’s sun, an idol. i have always hesitated to call myself a songwriter. up until about a year ago, the majority of my songwriting had been done alongside other, much more experienced writers, who helped me come to where i am now. where i am now, is, participating in a competition show called our songs, which is all about songwriting. today, our first songs were released.”
he took a deep breath, and let it out with a soft laugh. “i have been so terribly nervous about this release all day. there are not many released songs of mine that have been completely penned by me. and so, i hope that the reception turns out kind. in times like these, i turn towards music, as i believe many people do. a song from one of my competitors continued on repeat for me, today, as i dealt with this anxiety.
jaewon is someone i feel grateful to call a friend, and am lucky to be competing against. his song from the show, called alarm, gave me the feeling of being understood. our situations were not the same, and yet, this song gave me a peacefulness i would not have been able to get otherwise. the message is something i believe sun’s goodnight listeners should listen closely to, and take to heart. when you are tired, please rest. this, is jaewon’s alarm.”
as the song began to play, sung leaned back, and took deep breaths, eyes closed. he’d have to play smile after this song, and be in real time for his listeners’ reaction. this was the least he could do for himself. release.
ii. blink by kevin abstract
“ah this next song, it’s quite different with the version i can play on radio. one of the nice things about not understanding english in music too well is i can focus more on the sound of it. this is, mm, one of those songs that can be felt without understanding what’s being said. the composition is very disjointed in a way that sounds like it might almost fit.”
iii. two time by jack stauber
“to me, there are artists with music i’m not sure if i’d ever feel comfortable enough to try out myself, but they continuously inspire me nonetheless. jack stauber is like that. i’d originally heard him on the app tiktok, and i’ve been fascinated ever since. his music is something completely different from anything i’d ever heard before. this song tonight, is one of my favorites from him.”
iv. shadow by taemin
a breathy laugh. “i hadn’t realized it until now, but i’ve managed to pick quite a few songs for the earlier part of the show that express my feelings of this day. in it’s lyrics, it can be quite dark. it reminds me of a song by the same name from the group f(x), actually. in a strange way, they’re both comforts to me. --i might be biased for being a fan of both artists, however, i hope that this song can give you comfort as it does for me.”
v. mirotic by tvxq
“let us begin to let the worries of our days pass, shall we? this song, i believe is a good place to start for that. even my grandmother knows this song. there’s something beautiful in nostalgia, don’t you think? a comfort that can only be brought on by the fickle nature of memory. i’d like for this time, this night, to be like that for you.”
vi. now that i found you by carly rae jepsen
“the next track up is one that makes me particularly happy. love is a common theme in music, from the beginning of time. i believe part of that is because of how powerful the feeling of love is. this applies to family, friends, pets, lovers. finding those that you don’t want to let go of is magic, and i hope you all have or find people like that.”
vii. velvet by silhouette (sohee)
“closing out our show, i’d like to leave you a song from a sunbae that is admire quite a lot for her musical ability. i’ve spoken quite a bit about fellow idols tonight. it is a part of my life, yet, we are all still people, just like any of you listening to this show right now. our music is how we show our feelings, and share it with you who might be feeling the same way. please take care, listeners, and sleep well. this has been dj sun, and here is velvet.”

(1/18) *peeks from behind the wall* I hope I am still welcomed here hahaha cricket anon is here! <3 I am very sorry for making you worry last time O.O, for sure no matter what happens to the story, I'm going to be right there to read it! Huehuehue, I literally was not lying when I mentioned that this story is bringing me lots of joy this year :3 Cricket anon is fine now! hahaha my last work place was really bad, kind of black-company-level-bad, and it really took a toll on my mental health…
Dear cricket nony, I already answered one of your non-anonymous asks privately because I was so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of email notifications I got from tumblr and Ao3 that I had to thank you right away, but I still want to do it publically because even after days I’m still overwhelmed that you took so much time to write me a whole essay. I’m still all soft and wobbly and squishy on the inside. Your notifications really made my day, week, probably month – so thanks so much again. It really means so much T___T
Tumblr media
(2) so, I kind of took two months? break from social media and just literally try and figure out my life lol basically quarter-life crisis also happening, but yeah slowly getting better now! I hope you are doing fine as well, sending you lots of hugs and love ~^^~ Firstly though!! I wanted to say sorry too that it took a while for me to reply hahaha… BUT!! Let me tell you omg during my rest of 8 weeks, I have managed to re-read ALL. SEVEN. CHAPTERS!! So many things to share!!
I’m so sorry to hear that your last workplace took such a toll on your mental health and I really hope that you are going to get better. I cross all my fingers for you and send you good vibes only. Please don’t feel pressured to comment at all. I mean everyone loves receiving comments, but it shouldn’t feel like a chore. So if you feel like sharing your thoughts I’m always glad to read them, but if you don’t feel like sharing them, please don’t feel bad about it. <3
(3) However, since my comments were a grand total of 4,000 words lol, I inserted them in AO3 under "cricket anon" in every chapter! :3 You might get confused as you read them because I take notes as I read the chapter lol hahaha I hope my comments might bring some joy <3 Ahh! By the way! These anon messages are partly not anon since anon asks are limited to 10 per hour? I didn’t know that! :( But since I accidentally have revealed myself to you lol I think it should be okay!
I’ll also try to answer your comments on Ao3 in the upcoming days because (if I remember correctly) you had some questions and I hope I can answer some of them. ^^ But I’m impressed that you went through all the chapters again. We’ve reached 150k now, which is quite fascinating to me because there are still quite a few chapters left. I wonder how long the story will be in the end *hides* I didn’t know that either! I’ve been on tumblr for so long and yet this 10 ask limit is new information for me, but it makes sense in some way – if I think about spam accounts or people going around spreading hate or something.
(4) Also, I think I’m going to make my snorts reactions straight onto AO3 from now on, rather than spamming your ask box with 10+ anon messages hahaha but I’ll still come here to share you my overall reactions and analyzations huehuehue and also to possibly warn you about the length of the comment lol something I noticed, from chapter 1 to chapter 7, the comment got longer lol more things to discuss about, I guess!? But yeah!! Let me reply to your reply to my previous ask here!!
LMAO I admire your dedication. Do whatever is most comfortable to you, I will be happy either way ^^ I think it makes sense that someone can comment more on later chapters because the painted picture gets fuller and fuller with details, there is more information about the different characters, the storyline is more developed and so on… ^^
(5) Is the sad scene in chapter 6, you were referring to the conversation that Jong-Taem were having, and then Jong tried to diffuse it into another lighthearted banter, and Taem is just. tired. of. Jong avoiding the conversation? and despite all that, Taem still let Jong come into his room and cuddle to sleep? idk... I find that scene really heartbreaking :( or maybe it was another scene?
For me it was the shower scene tbh. I don’t know, but it always struck something inside of me (is it weird that I’m saying this although I’ve written it?) There is something very fragile about Jonghyun in that scene and Taemin does feel a little helpless and is so caught up in his own thoughts, in his own needs, what he wants (and doesn’t get from Jonghyun) and yeah – it always makes me go :( but yes, the follow up scene is sad as well because you sit there and think – you two are just so damn dumb, which is something most people, who read this story so far – seem to think constantly, because yeah, they are very dumb – each in their own way. ^^
(6) I think I mentioned in the AO3 comment somewhere that even I started to feel like Taem can just leave Jong because Jong is not trying to understand Taem, I mean, nothing to do with his mood swings or his claim that Taem will get bored of him, just that he isn't trying to see things from Taem's perspective whereas Taem is trying! so! hard! and he even tried to ignore the fact that Jong avoid the vital conversations for like the 10th time already :(
Feelings are a very difficult topic – and while chapters 1-9 are very focused on what Taemin does, thinks, wants, needs, wishes etc. the focus does shift a little over to Jonghyun starting from chapter 10. So the reader does get an inside of why Jonghyun might have acted the way he did. If his behavior makes sense is up to the reader (and Taemin as well) to decide – but I think it shines a little more light onto Jonghyun, who the reader doesn’t know much about – feeling wise –, although he’s one of the main characters of the story. ^^ It’s the onion layers that get peeled one by one. ^^
(7) Yeah, re-reading this definitely showed me muCH MORE parallelism in Jong-Key and Taem-Jong dynamics. Even with Taem's mood in a sense? Like how Jong used to be really upset when Key has a new friend, and then suddenly okay when they do sexy times. Before, I only noticed the puppy-love-ness parallel, but then there is more to it, like I said, Taem's mood affected by Jong a lot, just like Jong's by Key, and also the way Jong claims that Key doesn't understand his feelings,
(8) well, it applies to Jong not really wanting to understand Taem's feeling? by just brushing it off as Taem will get bored of him or Taem doesn't know what he is talking about. I mean as a reader, I am also not sure, if it’s either Jong doesn't care or he is scared to show himself or both or maybe there is another reason? Hahaha ^^;;
This is true and done on purpose. ^^ This knowledge doesn’t play a key (haha) part in the storyline, but it is there to show how blinded one can get by one’s own feelings. After adapting to his new life in a dorm Taemin sees through Jonghyun and Kibum’s relationship quite well, but later when it’s about his own relation to Jonghyun he’s completely blindsided and doesn’t see how unhealthy it is at first – him going back and back and back over and over again in the hope that Jonghyun’s behavior towards him might change.
(9) You mentioned that there will be more Jongtae drought, and honestly, I think they need it? I think some space for them to think about things and you know do other things and talk to other people about other things lol maybe it will clear up their heads hopefully? Ahh!! You said the beginning of chapter 5 is for your own sanity lol I totally understand ;), it was a very sweet scene, soft, and kind of endearing compared to what is coming in the next chapters TnT
It depends on how we describe the drought. The hard cut was done in chapter 8. I went in like a warrior and just cut all the strings, not showing any mercy. ^^” I don’t want to spoiler anything, but yeah – the hard drought will continue throughout chapter 9 – soft drought from chapter 10 …… till ….. *closes mouth* 6v6
Working on chapter 8 made me write two lovey-dovey JongTae oneshots because I couldn’t stand seeing them fight in my own fanfic, in front of my salad. T_T so yeah, the beginning of chapter 5 was for my sanity. While writing chapter 8 I also realized again while I never really write angst, fights – anything dramatic really, because I’m a very chill person in real life, and I like my fanfics to be very chill as well – so writing this was completely out of my comfort zone. For others it’s writing smut for me it’s writing angst lmao. I usually want to wrap up all the characters in fluffy blankets and make them tea, and yet here I am – letting Taemin suffer for so many chapters. I’m a monster T_T
(10) Yeahhh, about the fact that we don't see Key so much since it is in Taemin's point of view, and also the fact that our (the audience)'s perception of Key is very much influenced by how Taem sees Key, right? I think I even mentioned somewhere in the comments, that in a way, a Rashomon effect is present as the readers read the story right, since they are all on accounts of Taem's witnessing, but then also maybe I am just reading too much into this lol
It would be the Rashomon effect if I wrote the same fic out of Jonghyun’s perspective and Minho’s as well for example. In this case Taemin is just a very unreliable narrator and we don’t (well I do :’D) but the reader doesn’t know what’s really going on, if everything Taemin is experiencing is true or if it should be taken with a grain of salt. Considering that everyone in the dorm, except for Taemin, gets along well with Kibum, we might want to believe that Kibum isn’t the bad guy Taemin wants to make him out to be. ^^
(11) Honestly, I could hear my English Lit teacher saying "maybe that is not the author's intention" hahaha xD Yes yes yes!! more chapters for Taem's development!! I am ready for it!! I mean the end of chapter 7 marked the sign of the broken vase, and paired with the JongTae drought, I am looking forward to the next part of the story!! Some character development at this point is perfect I think!! And also!! About the advices, I think I commented a few times on some of the chapters.
(12) I didn't notice that before! And after you pointed it out, I think I made some comments on Minho's, Key's, and Onew's advices to Taem and definitely, based on how the events unfolded, we could argue that the advice was bad - in a way though, I can't seem to tell (yet, maybe?) if the advice giver was genuinely trying to help or do they have ulterior motives? hmmm but either way, I like how you placed a lot of thoughts in the story, even on things such as advice.
(13) Because for sure, in reality, people tend to give bad advices, and act on bad advices. It is true that most fics tend to focus only on the good advice and then the story ends happily ever after. Real life is most definitely not like that :3 your "slice of life" tag is holding up to its name ;) Thank you so much for your hard work!! You added 10,000 words for chapter 7?? omg… huhuhu (insert a bowing LINE sticker)... yeah, for sure, the way the story unfolds in my head,
(14) probably is different to other readers, right? And for sure, very different to you, the author! There are probably a lot more instances, scenes, implications, interpretations? that we as readers are unaware of! Thank you so much for all your hard work TnT, as readers, having more context into the story does give much more clarity on the flow of the story and the feelings of the characters, etc. Thank you for all your hard work! (bow bow bow)
That was something @hwarang-number commented on as well while betaing the story. What if Minho has ulterior motives?!?!?!?!? In Minho’s case it does make sense to give out bad advice to lure in the innocent lamb haha but for example what would Jinki’s or Kibum’s ulterior motives be? Sometimes people want to give out good advice, but in the end it just turns out to be bad advice – unintentionally – humans are just humans after all – and none of us is all knowing, we all perceive things differently, and what might work for one person might not work for the other. I did add 10k to chapter 7 and 25k to chapter 8 – because chapter 8 felt like the most incomplete out of all the chapters in this story.
I think I’ve mentioned it before but hwarang_number is super attentive while reading and figured most things out that I’ve implied – even smaller details which I thought might get lost in the chapters – which I’m still impressed by, but I also said before that everyone reads stories differently, and some aspects that might not be important to me as the author of the story might be important for the readers and the other way around. For the past chapters I just tried to fill in the gaps that might confuse readers unnecessarily. In the original draft of chapter 8 Taemin is doing the deeds with Minho far more spontaneously because he’s so frustrated with Jonghyun – it made sense like that as well – but I think his frustration got more depth through the added scenes. :)
(15) Ah!! By the way!! Please don't feel like you are forced to reply to all of my messages! Having you read them already makes me happy! I don't want to make it feel like an obligation to you because... well omg my comments like super loooooong hahaha ^^;; And yeah!! Take your time with the next chapter by the way!! I am rooting for the development of the story no matter how it will go :3 I will be waiting for the next update (though no pressure, just want to put it there haha)
Dear cricket nony, if you write me 50 message I will still try to answer all of them ㅎㅅㅎ I might just take a little longer. I hope you will like chapter 8 as well, despite the drought ^^
(16) Next time, this cricket anon will bring some more noise ~ I hope your real-life stuff works out well too :D Once again, thank you for answering all of my messages, and for writing this awesomely written fanfiction! While I wait for the next chapter, I think I'm going to re-read songs of siren hehehe :3 Please stay safe!
Please do! Song of Sirens is definitely a story I would have loved to treat like “Dorm Life” in a sense that it would have turned out better if I had worked on it longer, but I’m still a fan of the big brain energy I had running through my veins when I came up with the mythological aspect of the story…lmao So I hope you will enjoy re-reading it. ^^ Chapter 8 is longer than Song of Sirens (just as a side note haha)
(17) Ah!! I forgot to mention!! After I re-read it, my most favorite literary device that you used in this fanfiction (lol this commentary is beginning to sound like a Literature essay) is the Biblical Allusions? I am not sure if this was your intention, but the juxtapositions of Bible verses or reference to God, in Taemin’s thought reminds me heavily of Taemin’s songs, particularly Heaven? It be a sexy time song if you look at the lyrics, but the composition is that of a choir church song
(18) I find the contrast chilling, and maybe you were trying to invoke that feeling to the readers? Orrr maybe I am perhaps, indeed, reading too much into this hahaha ^^;; but really! I really enjoy reading your fanfictions and coming up with analyzations, it’s very fun, and the fact that I can discuss or ask you questions about it is just makes it even more fun – since in Literature classes we can’t actually ask the author of their true intentions right hahaha okay!! I am done :3 Thank you!! <3
It was my intention and still is, so I’m glad you picked up on that. ^^ I always wanted to write a fanfic in which Taemin’s religion plays a role – even if it’s just on the side – I always make some references to Dante’s circles of Hell (when Taemin is being dramatic again) or I also made a reference to Hieronymus Bosch’s painting The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things in chapter 8. (I’m a big fan of his work – that dude was wild – the way he painted blows my mind every time I look at one of his paintings). So yes, dramatic Taemin talking about religion and throwing around with biblical references is my brain being wild. ^^
I would say that ‘Dorm Life’ is not a really deep story, but I did put a lot of thought into it to not make it your regular smut/romance fanfic. I mean it took time, still does – but I’m glad when people, like you dear cricket nony, appreciate it. So thank you so much for your kind words and sending me all your thoughts and interpretations. <3 I hope you will have a lovely December – please stay healthy and please take good care of yourself. <3

Baekhyun returned with the entirety of the main crew whom you'd met, all of them taking a seat on various lower bunks, avoiding you beside Taemin, while the captain stop at the doorway. "It seems that hiding information was not the correct course of action. It was meant to soothe you rather than cause more harm." Jongin began slowly, watching your reaction carefully. "How could I be happy on a boat like this with a bunch of pirates? You took me from my home!" You huff, what kind of stupid logic was that. "Well, we were looking for you to complete our crew." You stared at him blankly, "What do you mean complete? How am I supposed to fit in here?" Jongin smiled, "Well if you stopped interrupting me, I could tell you." You snapped your mouth shut and he continued, "Good girl, now as I was saying, you were sought after rather than just randomly taken. All of us, in this room, are like you, we each have a power." What? How could that be? You were cursed, did they meet the same fate? You were nearly bursting with questions but you figured he would explain more if you said nothing. "Baekhyun is water, Taeyong is animals, Lucas is metal, Ten is fire, Mark is crafting, Taemin is light, and finally I am weather." You looked at each of them as Jongin listed off their powers, eyes landing back on the man speaking in the end. "Our powers are quite helpful in our trading business, it's the reason we all have such odd hair as well."
Not able to hold it back anymore you blurt out a question, "Ok, but what does that have to do with me? And I'd hardly call you traders your pirates for fucks sake." Jongin smirked. "You are the eighth person with powers such as ours. For many years we were under the impression there were no others until we heard rumour of you. I'm sorry that we took you from your home but I have a feeling that you didn't have many ties there other than, based on your power, a garden." It was annoying how accurate he was in his analysis, and the stupid smirk on his face made it more annoying since he knew you couldn't say anything. "As for trading, we have different ways of going about our trading, but we trade with mostly other pirates anyway, on pirate ports. We simply don't wait to trade for valuable or rare things when we could just take it from those who are not pirates." You narrow your eyes, "So you're looking down on everyone who isn't a pirate? You think you can ruin peoples lives just because?" Jongin shook his head at your words, "We would never steal from a good person or someone without much to give. Think more like kings and palaces that have many jewels for no reason, we simply take them away to be used." You scoffed, it was a stupid excuse, but they were pirates so you didn't expect them to see how wrong it was. "Regardless, I didn't want to come." You snap. Mark rolled his eyes and gave an annoyed sighed, "That's why we just took you dumbass."
"Mark." Jongin shot the smaller man a sharp look, which silenced him immediately, leaving him pouting like a puppy. "It's unfortunate that we had to take you, but there wasn't really a way for us to ask you to join, we have a reputation to uphold." You shook your head in disbelief, they were really going to brush it off just like that. "Y/N, I know it's hard to understand but we all have our reasons..." Taemin said, his hand still rubbing gentle circles on your back. You sighed, at least they were being honest now but you still felt angry about the situation. "It's not home yet, but hopefully you find yourself able to relax here eventually. I'd like to tell you to not go anywhere alone, I trust the men in this room, but the rest of the crew can be, less pleasant." Jongin said, bringing your attention back to him.
"This will never be my home, this is a prison. I still hate my magic and I still hate it here. I still hate all of you." Your sharp words filled the room with ice. "That may be the case, but maybe we can teach you more about your powers and you could hate them less." Baekhyun said, sadness lacing his voice as he looked at you. Regret bubbled in your heart despite your minds protest. "Regardless of everything, you are here now and we will keep you safe and healthy while you're with us." Jongin said firmly, then he called for Mark to leave with him, leaving you with the five other men in a very uncomfortable silence.
"Taemin, could help me up on my bed please?" You asked softly, thoroughly exhausted by your tears and the conversation. Your mind was racing with all the information, trying to process it and sort it out in your head. "Of course." Taemin said, standing and interlocking his hands and offering you a step up onto the bed. Once you are on the bed, you pull the blanket over your body and curl up into a ball in the farthest corner. Everything about this situation is hurting you, and none of them seem to understand that.
You listen to the hushed whispers of the crew after they assume you've fallen asleep, you can tell they are talking about you because you hear the words 'plant' and 'girl.' Tears fell from your eyes as you curled even deeper into yourself, you didn't want to be here anymore, not on this ship, not on this Earth.
~
When you woke up the next morning the cabin was empty save for Ten who was sitting on Marks bed reading a book. You sat up, wrapping yourself in the blanket. "You're up? Do you want to get food?" The maroon haired man asked you, his voice gentle. Shaking your head you laid back down and stared at the ceiling, listening to the door shut behind Ten as he left to get food for himself. After a few moments of quiet, you sat up once more and carefully hopped off the bed. You thought of last night when the captain had told you not to leave alone, but you couldn't stand to be in the room any longer. Pulling the door open you headed to the main deck, finding it almost empty since most of the crew was eating. You walked straight to the edge of the ship and leaned over the side to watch the waves crash against the boat.
The ocean had always scared you, even before you'd been cursed. You avoided it as much as you could when you'd lived on the island, never learning to swim and spending your time as far inland as you could while still doing your work. The ocean was loud and dark and vast, a never-ending abyss of huge waves, dangerous storms, and creatures unknown. And now here you were, in the middle of that horrible ocean, staring into the darkness of the waters and feeling the salty air chill as the clouds ahead turned dark. You leaned farther over the edge stepping on tiptoe, the mist of ocean spray covering your skin. Breathing in deeply you lean even farther, nearly unbalanced as the ocean looms ever closer.
"Y/N!" A voice shouts your name and you are yanked away from the edge of the ship in a hurry. You scramble to pull out of the grip of the person who is holding you, but they simply turn you in their grasp. Lucas' dark brown eyes stared into your own as you relax in his hold now that you know it's not a random crew member. "What were you doing you could have fallen in?" Lucas sounded genuinely worried about your safety and you felt like a small child being chastised. "I was just thinking." You said softly, looking away from his eyes. Lucas sighed, "You aren't supposed to go around alone anyway, you should have come to the dining hall to get one of us. You knew we were there." You huff, "Wouldn't that still be going somewhere alone? Where's the logic in that." Lucas stares at you a moment before he begins to laugh. It's a loud and boisterous laugh that has you trying to conceal the smile that is twitching at your lips. "Well, let's get you to Baekhyun, it's his turn to have you shadow him."
You sighed, not looking forward to it. Baekhyun had sounded so sad last time you'd seen him and you had a feeling that would carry over to today. You shouldn't be so concerned for one of the men who kidnapped you but you couldn't help it. Following the tall man, you reached the captains quarters where Lucas knocked lightly. You heard shuffling in the room and then the door was opened by Baekhyun who was doing up the buttons on his shirt. His eyes flitted to yours for an instance but you saw the sadness that they held. "We are headed to the maps room today, checking our distance for the next port." Baekhyun said plainly, then started walking away quickly, making you run slightly to catch up with him. It was silent as you walked, observing the blue-haired man as he walked ahead of you. He held himself with confidence and a sense of power, his shoulders set and head held high, subtly commanding the respect of those around him.
You soon reached a small room with a large desk in the center, that was covered in many pieces of parchment and some strange objects you didn't recognize. Baekhyun gestured to one of the chairs that were in the room so you sat in it while he moved the things on the desk around. We should be nearing port in the next day or so, so I need to make sure we are where we should be." He explained, but there was no real emotion in his voice. You sat quietly while he used the strange tools and held them against the maps, comparing lengths in ways that made absolutely no sense to you. Baekhyun made no attempts at conversing with you, and it wasn't in the way a person would when they are overly focused. It was an empty drawn-out silence that you hated. He must be really upset about last night... Your heart twinged at the thought. "Baekhyun?" You tried cautiously, but you were ignored. "Baekhyun?" You said again, a bit stronger but still no response. "Baek-" - "Y/N I don't want to talk ok?" You snapped your mouth shut, feeling hurt by the cold words.
The rest of the day was spent watching Baekhyun check the map and then following him out onto the main deck while he made sure everyone was doing what was needed to prepare for docking the next day. He hadn't spoken a word to you since he'd said not to talk, and you'd given up on trying since the silence hurt less than the words did at least. In the evening it was mealtime again, but you still didn't want anything, the day with Baekhyun had only added to the turmoil inside of you and made your appetite disappear. You tried to go to the room but Baekhyun had given a stern look before nodding his head towards the table so in the end you were sitting at the table beside Taeyong and Jongin at the head as usual. Taeyong had apparently lost at seat picking since he ended up beside you, you could hear him mumbling under his breath when he'd sat down.
You focused on your hands in your lap during the meal, picking at the skin around your nails. "/N? Y/N!" You looked up at the person saying your name and found Ten waving his hand in front of you. "You haven't eaten today." He stated plainly, "Not hungry." You answered simply, returning your gaze to your now bleeding cuticles. "Come back to the room with me then, we have an early morning together." Ten said, standing up and walking towards the door. You must be shadowing him tomorrow, so you got up and went after him. He led you to a room you hadn't been in yet that was filled with bandages and had a simple cot in it. "Hands." He said and you held them out to him. Ten made a clicking noise with his tongue then grabbed a roll of cloth and wrapped each of your fingers with it. "There, now you won't make them any worse." He said returning the leftover cloth to a shelf. "Thanks..." You said softly, feeling embarrassed by having someone care for your injury
Ten turned on his heel and exited the room, so you did as well, making your way back to the bunks. Ten gave you a step up onto your bed before heading over to his, but before he got up he removed his shirt putting the smooth expanse of his skin on display to you. You felt your cheeks warm as you watched the muscles in his back move, quickly turning your head when Ten had jumped up on his bed and turned to face you. "Sleep well." You heard him say softly before the room was enveloped in silence.

191224  fanmeeting ‘LTM with SHINee WORLD’
So from the fanmeet: Taemin has just watched all of Sky Castle. He wasn’t able to watch dramas that much because he didn’t want invest much time, but Sky Castle was so fun for him he couldn’t stop. After watching it he thought what kind of parent he will become, if he will be like Yeso’s mom. He said he decided to never become such parent and concluded that Sky Castle is a drama that teaches great morals. He said recently he has been watching Kapichu(?) on YouTube. Even watched his guesting on Knowing brothers Taemin said every winter his family eats king crabs and SHINee also used to eat it at their dorm. He said that King crabs should be eaten with precious mind because the people who catch them suffer a lot. Taemin said 10 men die every year because of King crab hunting. Taemin said he was the one who insisted on doing the fanmeet without a host. All alone. He also said that he thought Minho’s fanmeet was not as fun as it could have been since Minho has been on a lot of entertainment shows. But Taemin also apologized at the start of the show for a boring show 😂. He said that Tiger Dome is a place full of memories for us. They had concert there as SHINee, Jonghyun also had his solo concert there and Minho had fanmeeting. After performing Korean ver of Famous he said that since everyone in the venue is on his side he will reveal that he gets confused with the lyrics and was trying hard to not laugh because of that, but SM doesn’t like it when he says such things. He had to play games and complete 4 different games in 99 seconds and if he couldn’t he would be punished to wear costume to airport. He actually succeeded at first try but then Shawols were protesting so he chose hard 4 games so he now has to wear a costume to airport. What costume will be decided by Shawols. We sang Haru as encore. It’s an old song SHINee did as a Christmas special. Taemin said that we have opened a Pandora’s box. He even asked if he will sing it tomorrow too. We said no and he said that we shouldn’t trouble ourselves and sing songs from so long ago lmao Taemin said that he really wants to use Shawols voice for a song. He said he wants to create a song with Shawols and it won’t matter of the public will like that song or not as long as we (Taemin/SHINee and Shawols) enjoy it and understand the meaning behind it. He asked how he can give us the fee for using our voice haha. He seemed quite serious when talking about it. Taemin introduced Moongyu. He said that his childhood friend Timoteo has come. He said that his friend has changed his name. It was originally Moongyu but now he goes by Timoteo. At the end he introduced himself as SHINee’s Taemin. This boy really made Shawols cry. There was a game of throwing hoops at a bowling pin. He could himself decide from what distance he could throw it. He asked which number Shawols liked. We said 5 and he out the pin at n5 that was on the floor but it was quite far so we told him 1. But then Taemin said that if he loses games he will be punished and wear a costume like Olaf to airport. Shawols didn’t know that so everyone changed the number back to 5 so Taemin can’t win 😂 Also Taemin had to draw on Christmas and New Year cards. On New Year card he asked what to draw so Shawols said draw yourself but Taemin couldn’t understand and thought we said draw Mouse. We started chanting Lee Taemin to make him understand but he thought we were encouraging him to draw a good mouse lmao. So we just gave up and Taemin did good job of drawing a mouse. We even told him to draw a cheese haha. On the Christmas Card he drew Christmas tree. There were stickers that were like round shaped jewels? something like that. They were in a row but could be used by tearing one by one. At first Taemin didn’t know that and couldn’t stick it To the tree so we told him to tear it and he said he doesn’t want to use such brute way. But then he said he heard some complaints and he said that we are being frustrated with him. So he said he will tear it and stick it and he did that. It was very funny.
At the start of the fanmeer he said that he was worried that Shawols would be busy on Christmas day and won’t come to his show. He said that we are just like a pair of lovers. The early years were full of excitement but now were are more like a family and comfortable with each other so when Taemin says he will hold a fanmeet we will be like “Oh? Taemin is holding a fanmeet? That’s good but I am busy that day”. He said since long time has passed all the fans have gotten older too and probably have boyfriends so would be busy on Christmas day He was writing the Bew Year card and then it hit him that its 2020. He asked “Time flies fast right?” Then started thinking how “old” his/SHINee’s career will be. He realized it will 13th year and gasped During one if the VCR’s Taemin also had to draw a Christmas tree. He said that he is not talented in drawing but his drawings give off a certain artistic feeling and that Shawols get his feeling well and praise his drawings 😂 Also in a VCR he was asked which winter he remembers the best. He answered that he is doesn’t remember well if what he remembers happened in 2008 or 2010 so he will just go with this year’s winter cause it’s the nearest and he remembers it the best 😂 He was asked between beer and soju. After thinking long enough he answered beer. He does not like jjajjangmyun or jjangbun at the moment but he chose jjangbun (chinese spicy seafood noodle soup) When drawing at the Christmas Card, he only drew a brown line and Shawols were already hyping him up and cheering. He was very entertained, showed the line he drew to the camera and said “I only drew this and you are this happy? I shall just finish it this way” 😂 Taemin said he wanted to wear a couple item with Shawols so fiving Shawols antler hair accessory was Taemin’s idea. He opened the show while wearing an antler himself, too. Taemin actually forgot he had to perform Goodbye and was going to head to backstage to prepare for encore and in the middle of walking he remembered he still had one more stage 😂
