I absolutely agree with you on the whole “haha look Five goes to school but he’s 58!1!1!” Possibility happening in s4. I genuinely hope they won’t do it. Aidan will probably look way over the age of going to school when they film s4 so.. I think they won’t go with that ((hopefully)
Like I said, I don't think they'll go this route, if partially because Aidan is a real adult now so the joke doesn't work as well. But there is that sliver of a chance they do and it fucking haunts me.
#the whole trope just makes me so uncomfortable#again - sorry to those of you who do like it#no shade and you do you#but its like. every angle is Bad to me#hes almost 60 and genuinely being forced to hang out with actual children???#it's fucking weird#and is so incredibly rude and disrespectful to five because he gets treated as a child when - again - hes a /58 year old man/#play with that angle a different way - i think there /should/ be some disconnect with how he has to interact with the world#because the world does see a 13yo kid#but you can do that without forcing him into a situation where he has to daily be treated like that and also act like he is a child#have him get kicked out of bars and well-meaning adults ask him where his parents are#sorry this has turned into a rant for my least favorite trope#it just makes me so wildly uncomfortable and requires five to do things i dont think hed do unless under Great Duress#and usually requires the siblings to ignore his agency and age to at least some degree to make it work#anyway - sorry again if this is your jam#i try to stay positive on this blog and let people do what they want because its not my business and i just dont go where i dont like#but apparently this is my One Big Thing#and this is my blog and i can say what i want here#dont let one dude on the internet (me) spoil your bliss if you do like five in high school fics (or anything else i complain about)#ill try to shut up about it now and do my previous tactic of just not engaging with it#ask response

the youtube "stop drawing like this" community doesn't want you to know this but you can shade however you want forever btw. it doesn't have to make sense in fact you should actively be pissing people off with how inaccurate your light source is

how much do i have to pay you so that you can at least ATTEMPT to add frebby fazbear into the magnus protocol
Tumblr media
This tickles me a bit, because thinking about it, we have kinda done some mascot horror in Protocol, but whereas chuck-e-cheese is the archetypical American version, we've drawn horror out of a 90s British mascot. And I'm pretty confident which of the two is more fucked up.
Five Nights at Freddie's does interest, though - I grew up when there was quite a rich array of horror stories aimed at kids: Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark, the Point Horror books. Now it seems like a lot of that stuff have been supplanted by franchises like Five Nights at Freddie's, which is aimed at kids but marketed as though it's not, and does a lot to try and launder its intended audience. It's interesting to me, though I don't feel like I have a well-developed thesis about it.

I got my hair cut the other day and of course I had to draw the dca boys running a hair salon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sun would be so effortlessly charming. Always chatting away with customers, explaining each product he uses and how to best maintain and style their hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moon I can see being popular with the less chattier customers (like me) but over time they begin to open up. I imagine he hums while working. Otherwise, he's all ears for the newest gossip.
(The clipped up hat idea came from @bamsara's solar lunacy doodles!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I love the popular headcanon that the dca can speak other languages, so I can imagine them being a hit with the aunties.
The full sketch page under cut! And some of my other thoughts
Tumblr media
Other thoughts about this... AU? Can I call it an AU? Feels kinda small for an AU, but whatever:
Eclipse works there too! Haven't decided if it would be canon or fanon Eclipse, though I really like the image of 4-armed Eclipse working on 2 clients at once (plus, the nickname Clip is perfect for this scenario)
of course they're great with kids! They'd be able to console kids that get scared of getting their hair cut. Sun would do a little trick and tell them how good and brave they are all the way through. Moon would console them and hum a soothing song (or hey maybe they notice the kid's wearing a disney shirt and starts humming some showtunes). Every kid gets a candydrop and a balloon on their way out.
y/n works at the hair salon as a part-timer and does tasks around the salon like sweeping, arranging bookings, washing hair, etc. They don't really care too much about their own hair, but the boys are always offering to style it, dye it, braid it. With y/n's permission, the boys always toy with their hair—patting it, combing their hands through it, brushing it over y/n's ear, ruffling it.

listen to me. listen to me. its fed girl summer. its 2:1 tummy to titty ratio summer. its not hiding your pre or non surgery trans body because it's too hot to be in a binder. summer of showing off love handles, tummy overhang, back rolls, double chins, bingo wings, thick thighs because they are so good! and they are part of your wonderful body!
[ID: a two digital self portrait sketches in soft olive green tones of frankie, a young transmasculine person. he's wearing low waisted wide leg jeans and a cropped vest with beetles on it. they are hairy and tattooed, and the drawings pay particular attention to how their stomach sticks out or folds over their jeans. end ID]

I know it's a comedy manga, but the ww manga probably has one of my favorite manga interpretations of Link. Mainly because he feels accurate to his games. He's quiet, he can talk, but he mostly just communicates his thoughts through his actions and body language. He's also just a silly little guy.

you ever think about how fucked up it is that shen qingqiu's first mission out of sect was him subduing the skinner, a demon who targeted and replaced people no one would really miss?
very fun how the skinner ended up getting killed and destroyed by someone else who took the place of a person no one really missed

I think 90% of my gripes with how modern anime looks comes down to flat color design/palettes.
Non-cohesive, washed-out color palettes can destroy lineart quality. I see this all the time when comparing an anime's lineart/layout to its colored/post-processed final product and it's heartbreaking. Compare this pre-color vs. final frame from Dungeon Meshi's OP.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So much sharpness and detail and weight gets washed out and flattened by 'meh' color design. I LOVE the flow and thickness and shadows in the fabrics on the left. The white against pastel really brings it out. Check out all the detail in their hair, the highlights in Rin's, the different hues to denote hair color, the blue tint in the clothes' shadows, and how all of that just gets... lost. It works, but it's not particularly good and does a disservice to the line-artist.
I'm using Dungeon Meshi as an example not because it's bad, I'm just especially disappointed because this is Studio Trigger we're talking about. The character animation is fantastic, but the color design is usually much more exciting. We're not seeing Trigger at their full potential, so I'm focusing on them.
Here's a very quick and messy color correct. Not meant to be taken seriously, just to provide comparison to see why colors can feel "washed out." Top is edit, bottom is original.
You can really see how desaturated and "white fluorescent lighting" the original color palettes are.
[Remember: the easiest way to make your colors more lively is to choose a warm or cool tint. From there, you can play around with bringing out complementary colors for a cohesive palette (I warmed Marcille's skintone and hair but made sure to bring out her deep blue clothes). Avoid using too many blend mode layers; hand-picking colors will really help you build your innate color sense and find a color style. Try using saturated colors in unexpected places! If you're coloring a night scene, try using deep blues or greens or magentas. You see these deep colors used all the time in older anime because they couldn't rely on a lightness scale to make colors darker, they had to use darker paints with specific hues. Don't overthink it, simpler is better!]

DPxDC What's the Big Deal with the Dead
TW, I guess: corpses and mild gore(?)
Due to his life circumstances, Danny is absolutely unfazed by the dead things. Be it a still barely warm body in the alleyway or a half-decomposed rat in the dumpster. He is just okay with them.
That is not to say he doesn't respect the dead, he does, but he respects the contents, not the package. He is polite and gentle with the shades of those recently passed away, he understands their burial preferences, and sometimes he helps the souls to either find their way to the afterlife or bring justice to the ones who murdered them, or anything else if they need it and he is able to do it.
Granted, he lives in Gotham, no one here is really that fazed by dead things, but what I'm trying to say is Danny lacks that first reaction kind of instinct, the disgust and repulsion and the horror that people feel when they see a dead body.
So, one night on patrol, one of the Bats, let's say Nightwing, finds him crouching beside a body. He can see the blood on the pavement and the bullet wound on the chest of said body, and this is yet another innocent life that has been taken, and he couldn't stop it, he was too late.
Meanwhile, Danny just turns his head towards him, waves, and goes, "s'up".
