The laptop I use for making my RPG Maker games is reaching the end of its lifespan, and I'm worried it's not long for this world... Thinking of opening commissions to earn some money to invest in a new laptop.

contains: toxic behaviour, toxic!reader this was itching my brain, idk what to tell you. i like having morally ambigious reader... or idk, is it too tame? i have no idea where the line meets and ends when it comes to dark shit cus i usually stay in the other side of the line. whenever i think of dark stuff its in a comedic-ish light and everything turns fluffy in the end idfk. tell me what else i should add in the warnings 😞
edit: i made it readable, i should really start readproofing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hear me out..
reader who doesnt do anything when their boyfriend is mean. like theyre just generally pissed off and huffing at you when youre trying to greet them with open arms and a warm smile when they come home.
reader who doesnt confront them about their horrible behavior and how it affected them. no, just stay silent, take in whatever your boyfriend had to say or do and leave him be.
ohooooh, you mightve done nothing but youre going to give them something much worse than a silent treatment.
youre not a doormat. youre not a crybaby.
i want reader to be absolutely menacing. if that man doesnt come back crawling, apologizing to you, youre gonna make him.
do you understand me? the anger, the absolute disgust that bubbles in your stomach, that claws its way up your chest like an animal looking for a fresh breath of air before it starts to hunt.
youre silent all of the sudden, giving him the driest texts known to man, leaving him on seen with texts that dont technically need a reply instead of dragging the conversation longer with a picture of a cat you saw on your way home. youre picking up more work than usual, unable to cut some time, telling him youve got things to do—things more important than having to watch some tv with him, be in bed with him.
youre clever. you know your schedule, and you know his. rearrange everything, make sure to make as much commotion in your life that doesnt include him, so when he confronts you, youre technically telling the truth when you say youre busy.
because why bother coming home early, greeting him, surprising him with dinner and a loving kiss?
then watch it all go down. technically, youre not doing anything wrong, youve got your plate full with a screenshot of your planned calendar to pair with it as sweet, sweet evidence.
youre watching him slightly deteriorate. watch him panic. he'll buy you flowers, in which you put in a vase but never take care of like before. he'll buy you jewelry you wont wear because "theyre beautiful but i like the old ones too! ill wear them on a special occassion" that wont ever come.
the frustrated, panicked look on his face is priceless. it feels so good. he cant even be mad because youre not even cheating! you have all the alibis, all the witnesses. youre perfectly happy and sweet as before! just.. not as responsive, not as present. but thats not your fault, thats your job's!
if he pays for you, slowly start paying your half of everything. shows that you are stable and everything would be perfectly fine if he went up in left. in the end, thats why he got angry with you in the first place, right? he's so okay with being angry, not telling you his problems, that he can keep it to himself, right?
he doesnt need your lap to lay his head on, not your food that you prepare for him when he comes home, not the soft touches you leave on his overworked skin and definitely not the words that you coo at him everyday before he pissed you off.
make him know what the once delicious thought of takeout tastes like once he's left to fend for himself while you go out for overtime at work! trust me, its gonna taste a hell of a lot more bland, a lot more dull. depressing, really.
dont even get me STARTED on sex. (i wont, not now)
this is all justifiable, right? after all, this is how you communicate your feelings right? this is how you can show him how you felt when he showed you a cold shoulder at your warm embrace! let him have the full experience when you felt pathetic, miserable, useless.
plus, youre not wrong, arent you? you can leave whenever you want! who is he to tell you that you cant leave? as if he owns you—is that what he thinks? is that what he thinks of you? just a not-so-significant other that he can come home to whenever he wants and project his feelings unto?
no, no youre not. youre not gonna take that bullshit. he can roll it up, pack it in a bag and beat it if thats what he's thinking. no, both of you are holding an end of a rope in this relationship. a big, thick rope which you can cut off with that large ass scissor you both have.
this is just you telling him, reminding him that you can cut it whenever you like! its not threatening, not manipulation, straight truth! you CAN leave any relationship you like! its his problem if he doesnt like it, right?
your poor little boyfriend has to get his act together! start thinking straight! unless he wants to deal with your unyielding, harsh wrath for the rest of his soon-to-be miserable life.
after all, he made the first threat to your relationship, right? its just a reminder!

I got bit by a radioactive spider that likes coming up with AUs for Pokémon games. Anyhoo. Take this extremely messy sketch of a comic I made mega fast for my “Legends Arceus + Platinum/Diamond/Pearl + Time Travel + Modern + Slice of Life + Trauma Recovery + Angst with a Happy Ending + Found Family” AU I’m currently cooking.
Volo's trying to camp in the mountains after getting booted through time and space into modern day Sinnoh and promptly gets Barry-ed.

Weird Magic: the Gathering effects: Fourth edition
Starting last year, and on three separate occasions, I've ran polling games listing weird magic the gathering card effects among which hid one fake one, to see how easy it was to figure out. It's time for another!
Like previous instances, this is intended for people who aren't experts at magic and would recognize all the cards instantly, more as entertainment for people outside the game, but I've been told it also works for plenty of actual magic players. There are certainly effects there I didn't know existed in specific before pulling this poll together.
As last time, only the current text of effects is used, not necessarily the one printed on the card. Limited to cards that exist in paper, and are legal to play in at least some tournament formats. Though I did expand in previous polls to text that's part of keyword rules or that's part of the current reminder text on at least one card, and that might apply here as well.
This time some of the cards are less obscure, but I wanted to include them because they're flavorful bits of text. Without further ado...
I will give one bit of context for people who don't play the game at all: your library is what your deck of cards is called while a game is going.
EDIT: the poll is over, time to add the solution under the cut on this message! It is also available in a reblog here, if you prefer that.
First, the Correct answer, and then the rest by order of voting percentage.
Whenever this creature becomes goaded, it fights up to one target creature (35.4%)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This first answer was the correct one, as was recognized by the majority (most of which, I assume, are Magic players who recognized the rest.) It was written as something that makes flavorful sense, and inspired by both Goad and the old mechanic of Provoke using similar meanings. Provoke later evolved into Fighting.
As mentioned, I like this effect, I ended up making a custom card with that mechanic while waiting for the poll to be over, though the wording is slightly different and that won't be in this post.
--
This creature isn't a creature (17.5%)
Tumblr media
This text doesn't appear printed on any card, but it is the current text of Weeping Angel from the Doctor Who set following a templating update of cards to avoid using their own name to refer to themselves, except for legends. Of course, within larger context. I've seen some people guess Gods from Theros as the source of this text, but since they're all legendary, they use their own names still, or a shortened version rather.
This is such a nonsensical line to be on a card that I knew it needed an inclusion here.
--
Put a +1/+2 counter on target creature. (10.7%)
Tumblr media
In the early days of magic, stats-buffing (or stats-reducing) counters weren't relegated to mere +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters. There were some +2/+2, -0/-1, +0/+1 counters and more, and when they mixed it made tracking the size of a creature with them a nightmare, so they stopped doing that. During that time, exactly ONE card, Armor Thrull, was created that put a +1/+2 counters on a creature. Neat and also weird!
--
Redistribute any number of players’ life totals. (9.1%)
Tumblr media
A very unique effect, Reverse the Sands is rarely worth the inclusion in any deck, but it is quite impactful. Printed in a game before commander hit big, expecting two players most of the time, it wasn't that different from other life swapping effects, but with Multiplayer becoming such a big part of the game nowadays, it's fun to have around.
--
Your devotion to each color and each combination of colors is increased by one. (7.5%)
Tumblr media
Devotion is a mechanic found in the ancient greek mythology setting of Theros within magic, caring how deeply you commit yourself to any given colors by encouraging you to play harder-to-cast permanents of that color. In the latest return to Theros, there is one card, Altar of the Pantheon, that has a weird effect of artificially altering your devotion without any cost shenanigans.
--
If this creature would be destroyed, regenerate it. (5.8%)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mossbridge Troll has a unique effect of just ALWAYS regenerating for free whenever it would be destroyed, be it by damage or destroy effects. In practice, it's mostly a fancy version of indestructible.
It also allows me to mention Mossbridge Troll from Shadowmoor is the creature associated with Mosswort Bridge from Lorwyn. Each of the five original Hideaway lands in Lorwyn had an associated "awakened" creature in Shadowmoor! Not the most obscure fact, but neat to know about.
--
Other creatures are Food (3.9%)
Tumblr media
A delightfully flavorful (well, except for all the salt) piece of rules text from Ygra here. Everything is Food for the Eater of All.
--
1/1 named Legitimate Businessperson. (2.9%)
Tumblr media
Witness Protection is a pretty normal design, but changing the name of the creature is a really neat touch that just adds a bit of flavor and makes it a card dear to many. It's funny how a small change like that can make a boring common into a card many remember for years to come. It even made its way into the "core" experience of the game through the Foundations expansion later on!
--
You draw cards from the bottom of your library rather than the top. (2.6%)
Tumblr media
Another appearance from Doctor Who, this time with River Song, who has an ability that is pretty flavorful, but in practice doesn't do much, since the cards at the bottom of your library are just as random as the ones on the top. Or are they? It's marginally easier to set up the bottom of your deck than the top of it, and to create loops with that and cards that put stuff back onto the bottom of your deck from your graveyard.
Unfortunately, that easily devolves back into infinite extra turns, which is very flavorful for a time traveler, but generally frowned upon in more social environments.
--
Whenever another creature you control dies, investigate. (1.9%)
Tumblr media
This one isn't that weird, but I wanted to include it for just how flavorful it is to investigate the murder of your creatures. Except of course you're likely the one to be doing the murdering for all those sweet clues. Oops?
This effect does not specify nontoken creatures, which means it's actually quite easy to make bucketloads of clues with it. Or an infinity, if you turn your clues into creatures themselves, so be wary of that because it's easy to end up in an infinite loop you can't stop, which causes the game to end in a draw, drowned in clues.
Protection from everything (1.6%)
Tumblr media
Protection from everything has appeared on a few cards, but the most iconic (though not the most played, that'd be Teferi's Protection), is Progenitus, the first to feature it. A giant creature that's almost impossible to cast and can't be cheated into play from the graveyard, Progenitus has impressed many a player!
Unfortunately, it's both clunky to actually use and not immune to everything. While EVERYTHING does mean everything, Protection has a relatively narrow definition in the game rules, and Magic is a game where very specific rules matter. Getting rid of a Progenitus is difficult, but far from impossible. Any effect that blankets destroys or exiles all creatures will remove it just as easily as everything else.
Venture into the dungeon. (1%)
Tumblr media
Venture into the Dungeon was one of the main mechanics for the first D&D set Magic has done, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. They revisited it later on in the second with a slight variation. While flavorful, the mechanic involved a lot of extra baggage involving having three extra Dungeon cards to pick from each with several abilities and to plan a trip through them and... It ended up seeing just a little bit of play, and not being the designers' best work, even if it had a LOT of flavor.

Thank you for participating and reading through all this! See you in the fifth edition if I ever put it together!

No one ever talks about how Sol's sword turns into this thing when he installs. Or how it has a Tree of Life on it
I need someone to ask Daisuke Ishiwatari about his library and how he got inspired to put some of the wildest theology and metaphysics deepcuts you can imagine in the equally wildest places in Guilty Gear, and why like... No one has really brought them up (AFAIK) in the 25 whatever years GG's been around for

I make a lot of posts going over the behaviors of dragon!Fire Spirit Cookie, but I talk as if people already know these dragon traits, so, instead, I'm just going to make a list of dragon trairs that I headcanon the Dragons (and Fire Spirit's Cookie) do. These were mostly inspired by various lizard and snake behaviours, but also some other animals too.
Traits
Sticking out tongue like a snake (sensing the air)
Hoarding treasures
Preferring warmer climates (most cold blooded animals)
Not liking other dragons in their territory unannounced
Nodding to show they are listening
Holding up arm to show that they're not a threat (will also sometimes do this to show their mate that they submit to them)
Liking shiny things
Nesting!
Being surprisingly good with kids/participating in alloparenting (alligators are good moms and ya gotta love em for that)
Clicking tongue to get other Dragon's attention
Content
Wagging tail when excited
Headbobbing when happy (depending on the context, it can also be indicating they want to challenge someone or they're courting someone)
Eyes dialting anytime they see something they like
Purring
Slow Blinking (also do that when sleepy)
Aggression /Fear
Growling (obv)
Flapping wings as a warning
Raising their wings/spikes on spine to appear bigger
Slapping other dragons on the head when they get too close or are annoyed by them (like seals or cats do)
Tumblr media
Quick fighting style that relies on strikes (like snakes)
Raising their wings and tails when they feel alert
Intimidation via sizing the other dragon up (best way I can describe it is when someone is trying to threaten you so they get really close to you and stand above you)
Tapping the other's head with their claws (can also be used as courtship behaviour. Imma be so fr; a lot of reptiles species seem to overlap their aggression and courtship behaviours)
Slapping tail against ground
Maintaining eye contact as a way to challenge them
Courtship
Heightened competitiveness with the onr they're courting (testing their strength to see if their worthy)
Showing off their strength
Licking teeth to show they're interested
Jealousy and competitiveness to anyone else whose trying to court the one they're courting
Nudging at their mate (like a goat, but some lizards actually do that, lol)
Giving gifts to their mate/potential mate (such as food or treasure. Can also get a bit jealous when others do it, lol)
Rubbing cheeks together (it makes more sense if it's between two Dragons in their Dragon form, but it looks pretty awkward when not. RIP Pitaya; Hollyberry probably won't know wtf you're doing)
