One night, Steve Rogers met a beautiful dame named Y/N. He hadn’t intended on letting her get away. But fate had other ideas. Y/N appeared and disappeared in his life so hauntingly that Steve started to wonder if she was an angel meant to watch over him.

A/N: Inspired by the film The Time Traveler’s Wife. But not one of those fics that just literally rips off the whole movie and plugs in characters where they please.

Chapter 1

2015 - After the Battle of Sokovia 

It was a torrential downpour outside. Steve was questioning Tony’s design aesthetic of the new compound. It was all glass windows, floor to ceiling, covering almost every exterior wall. He could only assume what it was doing to his teammates that struggled with PTSD.

Steve was handling it better than them. But he knew he wasn’t getting any sleep tonight. So he went into the kitchen to make something to eat.

It felt like he was always hungry. He’d had the super-soldier serum running through his veins for years now, but it didn’t seem like he’d ever get used to this metabolism.

He wasn’t surprised to find Wanda, Vision, and Tony also in the kitchen. Steve smirked softly at the sight. They’d grown to become his family. It was a new feeling, not being alone. But the devil on his shoulder told him not to get used to it.

Boiling Down the Monroe Method to the Absolute Basic Essentials BlinkyRunt (r/gatewaytapes)

Here is my go at simplifying Monroes's method, and many others I have tried including many meditative practices, to the absolute most basic actions. This approach has helped me not only remove all non-essential activities, but also come up with various replacements. Once you see the approach as a bunch of simple steps, you can then easily construct new methods for each singular part of the process.

0. create a strong intent with a strong emotion behind it. charge it for some time. This is needed for step 4.

1. Silence the body: relax muscle groups from toes to skull, relax breathing -> F10

2. Silence the senses: concentrate only on one sense (breathing, light behind eyelids, etc. only one), now let go of that one sense -> F12

3. Silence the brain: throw away fears, throw away expectations, stop analysis = become observer -> you end up in F15. You are pure concioussness in the void. F15 is the doorway to the beyond.

4. Remain in this state, let your intention, or higher self, or guides, or even Robert's voice guide you beyond and into other "places".

A Guide on How To Enter The Void State linglingvasprecious (r/shiftingrealities)

Hi everyone, here's a guide to enter the void state. I found (the guide above) on the Monroe Method and decided to expand upon it to better suit shifting. Please note that this guide uses terminology from The Gateway Tapes. If you're unfamiliar with what that is, please use the search function on this sub or Google it.

Subliminals aren't needed but I've had great success using Astral Projection binaural beats.

0. Find a comfortable spot to rest. You should ideally be on your back as to not fall asleep too quickly. Set your intention before you begin. This can be as simple as "I intend to enter the void state". Really lock this intention in and take a moment to breathe deeply and acknowledge this intention.

1. Silence the body. We want to be in the state of "mind awake, body asleep". Relax your muscles from your head to your toes and spend as much time as you need relaxing each muscle group. Relax your breathing. By now you should be in Focus 10.

2. Silence your senses. Concentrate on only one sense. This can be your breathing or the light behind your eyes). Let go of that one sense. You should now be in Focus 12.

3. Silence the brain. Stop analyzing your thoughts and let go of any fears and expectations that you may have. Your goal here is to become the observer. You should now be in Focus 15. You are pure consciousness in the void. Focus 15 is the doorway to the beyond. Once you find yourself in the void, revisit your intention and change it to whatever you like, such as "I intend to shift to my desired reality".

4. Remain in this state. Let your intention, higher self, or guides take you beyond to other places.

That's pretty much it! Don't stress too much and focus on relaxation and breathing deeply. With practice you should enter the void state! Have fun!

Mariner program

The Mariner program was conducted by the American space agency NASA to explore other planets. Between 1962 and late 1973, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) designed and built 10 robotic interplanetary probes named Mariner to explore the inner Solar System - visiting the planets Venus, Mars and Mercury for the first time, and returning to Venus and Mars for additional close observations.

The program included a number of interplanetary firsts, including the first planetary flyby, the planetary orbiter, and the first gravity assist maneuver. Of the 10 vehicles in the Mariner series, seven were successful, forming the starting point for many subsequent NASA/JPL space probe programs. 

The name of the Mariner program was decided in "May 1960-at the suggestion of Edgar M. Cortright" to have the "planetary mission probes ... patterned after nautical terms, to convey 'the impression of travel to great distances and remote lands.'" That "decision was the basis for naming Mariner, Ranger, Surveyor, and Viking probes."

Each spacecraft was to carry solar panels that would be pointed toward the Sun and a dish antenna that would be pointed at Earth. Each would also carry a host of scientific instruments. Some of the instruments, such as cameras, would need to be pointed at the target body it was studying. Other instruments were non-directional and studied phenomena such as magnetic fields and charged particles. JPL engineers proposed to make the Mariners "three-axis-stabilized," meaning that unlike other space probes they would not spin.

Mariner 1 and Mariner 2

Mariner 1 and Mariner 2 were two deep-space probes making up NASA's Mariner-R project. The primary goal of the project was to develop and launch two spacecraft sequentially to the near vicinity of Venus, receive communications from the spacecraft and to perform radiometric temperature measurements of the planet. A secondary objective was to make interplanetary magnetic field and/or particle measurements on the way to, and in the vicinity of, Venus.

Mariners 3 and 4

Sisterships Mariner 3 and Mariner 4 were Mars flyby missions.

Mariner 3 was launched on November 5, 1964, but the shroud encasing the spacecraft atop its rocket failed to open properly and Mariner 3 did not get to Mars.

Mariner 4, launched on November 28, 1964, was the first successful flyby of the planet Mars and gave the first glimpse of Mars at close range

This archival image is an enhanced contrast version of the first Mars photograph released on July 15, 1965. This is man's first close-up photograph of another planet -- a photographic representation of digital data radioed from Mars by the Mariner 4 spacecraft. Data was either sent to Earth immediately for acquisition or stored on an onboard tape recorder for later transmission.

The pictures, played back from a small tape recorder over a long period, showed lunar-type impact craters (just beginning to be photographed at close range from the Moon), some of them touched with frost in the chill Martian evening. 

Mariner 5

The Mariner 5 spacecraft was launched to Venus on June 14, 1967, and arrived in the vicinity of the planet in October 1967. It carried a complement of experiments to probe Venus' atmosphere with radio waves, scan its brightness in ultraviolet light, and sample the solar particles and magnetic field fluctuations above the planet.

Mariners 6 and 7

Mariners 6 and 7 were identical teammates in a two-spacecraft mission to Mars. Mariner 6 was launched on February 24, 1969, followed by Mariner 7 on March 21, 1969. They flew over the equator and southern hemisphere of the planet Mars.

Mariners 8 and 9

Mariner 8 and Mariner 9 were identical sister craft designed to map the Martian surface simultaneously, but Mariner 8 was lost in a launch vehicle failure. Mariner 9 was launched in May 1971 and became the first artificial satellite of Mars. 

Mariner 10

The Mariner 10 spacecraft launched on November 3, 1973, and was the first to use a gravity assist trajectory, accelerating as it entered the gravitational influence of Venus, then being flung by the planet's gravity onto a slightly different course to reach Mercury. It was also the first spacecraft to encounter two planets at close range, and for 33 years the only spacecraft to photograph Mercury in closeup.

AAUGH, THE BRAIN WORMS GOT ME

Real quick though I need to establish THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A SERIES--JUST A PARTICULARLY BIG COMIC. At most I might do non-sequential short vignettes after, but I'm not committing to yet ANOTHER long-form comic so soon after finishing the first one.

As for this particular monster, I'll be splitting it into three parts. As loathe as I am to find myself back in the comic-making building, I'm AM having fun. So look forward to what I've got in store for the Lamb~! :3c

If anyone trying to work out the numerous mysteries in Good Omens Season 2 is interested in the kind of puzzles John Finnemore puts in his writing, they should listen to series 9 of his radio programme ‘Souvenir Programme’. This is a drama told non sequentially about what is essentially a family mystery. It doesn’t seem like that to start with, and it’s a little confusing initially, but stick with it and you will be rewarded. It is a beautiful story, with lots of wonderful representation of queer and neurodiverse people. The characters are so lovely and lovable. And you will see how things that you notice early on become more emotionally charged once you have more information to go on as the story progresses.

I think its really clever that the tarot cards used in this episode were in the promotional material, the answers were there the whole time. Although, without the right interpretation in the right sequence they were a mystery to us, the viewer.

This is tarot:

The Querent. One with a series of life events that they are too close to, that are confusing, limited by the liner perpective of their experiance up to this point.

A deck of cards. Archetypal, symbolic, layered. Depicting life's many vast experiances in a non-sequential order, to be shuffled and set in a unique order - the path that belongs only to the querent.

And the reader. The mystic, the storyteller, the wise one who holds the key. The witch, who's very name orgin comes from knowing what is unknown. Weaving together though their knowlege the threads of choice, of what has come and what will be.

And the querent does with this new insight what they will, and choses their own fate and future.

TL:DR: as a witch of 30 years, and a diviner, the meta layers of this episode were sublime.

It was late; Rook wasn't even sure how late. Emmrich still hadn’t come to bed, but he'd been doing some research and it wasn't unusual for him to stay up all night reading. Manfred would come get one of them if anything was wrong. Rook had gone to bed with Lucanis when he started yawning, and stayed wakeful though Lucanis had relaxed into their arms some time prior. Rook had some thinking to do. Sleep hadn't come but a decision finally had.

“Spite? I want to talk to you about something important,” Rook whispered.

“Important,” Spite responded immediately, keeping his voice down for once. Lucanis' eyelids twitched open to reveal the familiar mauve-lit evidence of her favorite spirit. “Rook,” he rumbled, cuddling closer to her.

“Right,” Xiqaa responded, twining her legs with Spite's. “I’ve been thinking, and I need to talk about it.”

She looped dark waves of his hair gently through her fingers, smiling at the way his eyes fluttered in pleasure at the touch. Spite was easy to please, at least where Rook was concerned.

“It’s something secret,” Rook continued, combing his hair gently. “Lucanis and Emmrich can't know yet. It's nothing harmful to them or me, I promise.” Rook kissed the top of his head, then tapped his lips with a finger, a silent reinforcement.

Spite’s eyes widened, bright with curiosity at being the first to know a secret.

“Won’t tell,” he whispered excitedly. “Rook tell Spite secret.”

Rook hesitated. Once she told Spite, she was committed. Things were going well, and Maker knew they had enough problems waiting for them without Rook adding her plan to the pile.

Casting her doubts into the deepest Fade, Rook said, “I want to take Illario with me on a treasure hunt.”

“Bad secret,” Spite hissed. “Spite doesn't like.”

Rook wasn't sure if Spite meant Illario or the secret itself, but pressing that distinction felt unwise.

Before calling Steve, Bucky hadn’t realized his actions would put him between Y/N and his best friend. He wanted to be there for both of them. Except he couldn’t side with Steve when he had been a complete and utter idiot. And he had no problem saying that to the punk, either.

“You know Steve…” Bucky sighed again. “You got pumped full of glorified steroids that made you grow a foot and gain over a hundred pounds.” Then he shook his head. “But it clearly didn’t do a thing to that head of yours, because you’re still shit with women.”

Despite the truth behind the insult, Steve still glared at Bucky.

“Thanks. Real helpful.”

Im here to make one big post about how much i love Edge of Sleep.

First of all pacing is spendid, there were maybe one or two parts where i was like mmm but it kept me going and enjoying it. And the lighting??? OMG THE LIGHTING. I am such a sucker for good lighting like seriously, the use of colours to properly portray different scenes and emotions ughhhh it's so good. I am so mad when shows don't utalize lighting well enough so i absolutely lost it when i saw it. Thirdly the intro song, it's such a good choice. And the way everyone looks as they lose more and more sleep, they're not afraid to make any of the characters look like corpses and i love that. I highly recommend if u haven't watched it already pls do.

Spoilers start under here.

The final thing on my list is the way sleep deprivation is portrayed. The sequences between events are jumpy sometimes and I'm assuming it's on purpose and it adds so much to the story especially since we're seeing it from Dave's perspective. Dave is highly sleep deprived even before we get into the events of the story so watching the way the story progresses in a weird way where events play in non sequential order. Not even mentioning the hallucinations and the way the veil worked. Watching all the characters basically disassociate whiles trying to keep going just wonderful 10/10. I need a second season we need more of Dave's story, we need to understand this chosen one stuff and also elephant monster. Actually horrifying when i first saw it.

I find myself humming it because of the series. The part where Katie was falling asleep and the song playing whiles everyone was panicking and her eyes slowly closing and becoming more distorted?? OH YUMMY. It's so good.
