Steves careful nature, and trying not to be creepy, is so endearing. I just love him so much, he cares so much!
i hope bruce and tony can solve the problem. but i have low hopes for it.
Non-Sequential [Ch. 2]
Pairing: Pre-Serum Steve Rogers/Steve Rogers x Reader
One night, Steve Rogers met a beautiful dame named Y/N. He hadn’t intended on letting her get away. But fate had other ideas. Y/N appeared and disappeared in his life so hauntingly that Steve started to wonder if she was an angel meant to watch over him.
Word Count: 3,130
A/N: Inspired by the film The Time Traveler’s Wife. But not one of those fics that just literally rips off the whole movie and plugs in characters where they please.
Chapter 1
Tumblr media
2015 - After the Battle of Sokovia
It was a torrential downpour outside. Steve was questioning Tony’s design aesthetic of the new compound. It was all glass windows, floor to ceiling, covering almost every exterior wall. He could only assume what it was doing to his teammates that struggled with PTSD.
Steve was handling it better than them. But he knew he wasn’t getting any sleep tonight. So he went into the kitchen to make something to eat.
It felt like he was always hungry. He’d had the super-soldier serum running through his veins for years now, but it didn’t seem like he’d ever get used to this metabolism.
He wasn’t surprised to find Wanda, Vision, and Tony also in the kitchen. Steve smirked softly at the sight. They’d grown to become his family. It was a new feeling, not being alone. But the devil on his shoulder told him not to get used to it.

out of context & unedited snippets from the WIP Not Quite Shining/Ren Faire AU companion fic where also BoE is a punk band:
All of this bullshit is on top of the fact that the suit is fucking gold. It hurts to look at. When Gideon twists, it reflects on the walls. The leather bow-tie is at least pretty snazzy, and Gideon reminds herself that it’s far better than the suit with the flippy sequins that her father made her wear when she was twenty-one and impressionable. (That had been before Cytherea hauled ass to Barcelona to go cougar some impressionable Spanish girls, and she’d used it as an excuse to run her hands up Gideon’s back and arms to draw patterns on it. Twenty-one-year-old Gideon had been horrifyingly into it, but then Ianthe had drawn a dick on her back and things had only gone downhill from there.)

Becoming Spider-Man Chapter One Penny Parker's New Suit
𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 -> Peter Parker & Tony Stark (IronDad)
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 -> Penny Parker comes out of the closet and into a new suit. Set immediately following Civil War. Mostly non-AU, aside from the obvious transness and uncharacteristic behaviour (every good story needs an antagonist, after all).
𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓 -> 1245
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 -> (T) None applicable.
𝐀/𝐍 -> Welcome to our intense daydream/series of loosely sequential one-shots about what would happen if Peter Parker were a trans guy, inspired by rileys_cosplay on TikTok. The initial chapter comes from an interpretation of one of their videos – hope you enjoy it! Check it out below, or on AO3 here! Cute divider by @sweetmelodygraphics!
Next Chapter (2/16) ->
Tumblr media
"Penny? You got a sec?"
Tony's voice snapped me out of my brooding, head jerking to attention. "M-Mr. Stark, Sir... I didn't realise you'd be home."
"Well, it is... My home," he replied without emotion, one eyebrow cocked as the lamp over his place on the sofa clicked on, casting him into an softly eerie light. I flushed deeply, ducking behind the curtain of my dark hair.
"I just mean... I haven't seen you much while I've been here," I stammered, sweat beading against the nape of my neck. I'd been at Tony's for almost a week, under the care of the Incredible Iron Man while my Aunt May was at a nursing convention, but I still hadn't gotten used to having a man in such close proximity to me for an extended period. It was nice, though. Mr. Stark was kind to me, even if he was pretty cocky sometimes.
"Yeah, sorry about that, kid. Places to see, people to do, you know the drill," he offered with a nonchalant wave of his hand. "Actually, I've been fixing up something for you the last few days."
"For... Me?" I repeated tentatively, fingertips brushing the front of my shirt in a meaningless gesture, repressing a shudder as pain cinched my ribcage at the contact. He nodded, getting to his feet with a world-weary sigh and crossing to where I still stood motionless by the front door.
"The onesie was cute and all, but you're an Avenger now, kid. You've gotta look the part."
I swallowed dryly, taking the paper bag held before me. "Oh... Uh... T-thanks, Mr. Stark."
He waved off my gratitude, taking a swig from the cut glass in his free hand, the amber liquid within depleting at an alarming rate. "Go try it on, let me see how it fits."
I nodded, turning to leave, but his fingers grasped my wrist gently, drawing my gaze back to his. "You'll have to go without your bandages if you want to keep up with us," he added, his voice low and uncomfortable. "It's not safe, and this suit isn't designed to accommodate it."
My clammy face, which had at last begun to lose its blush-induced hue, roared to life once more, my internal furnace stoked by humiliation at his words. "Oh! O-oh, uh... Yeah, of course. S-sure." My hand fell to my side, still grasping the bag weakly, lapsing into stunned silence as I again moved to exit.
Tumblr media
I found myself sat on the edge of my neatly-made guest bed, the sheets pulled taut and flawless beneath me, speaking of a professionalism only afforded to the wealthiest of the elite – a far cry from my usual haphazardly-tossed duvet spread unevenly over a part-removed sheet. The idea of having income so disposable that you could pay someone to make your bed was an almost laughable one, if not for the dread climbing my throat, snaking lianas entwining and suffocating without pause or mercy.
I ripped my shirt from my body, disgusted and ashamed as I untangled the well-worn bandages from my ribcage, flinching despite myself. The material had a penchant to roll into the dips and valleys between the bones, chafing the paper-thin skin it found there – but what other choice did I have? Aunt May had threatened to kick me out for merely mentioning a desire for shorter hair. Approaching her and asking for some of her own money (hard-earned, as she reminded me often) for a real binder was unthinkable. But I'd gotten by until now, more or less. I had no idea how Tony had been aware, but the idea of him knowing brought a humiliated flush to my cheeks once more.
It's just three more days. It'll be fine. It's only while you're wearing the suit, and that might not even happen again.
My boxers were riding low on my hips, and I paused before pulling out my makeshift packer – a balled pair of socks, acting as a comforting bulge to replace the anatomy I should have been born with. Even my old suit hadn't allowed for packing in familiar company; the tight material gave no mercy or chance of concealment.
If nothing else, the new suit was softer – gone was the coarse cotton of my own creation, replaced with a silky elastane that guaranteed a form-fitting fabric. My breathing hitched in my throat as my unshaven legs slid into the suit, stumbling back to sit on the bed as my emotions threatened to send me tumbling. The material was denser around my hips, lined with some rough synthetic material of indeterminate origin that caught on the curve of my flesh as I fought to pull the suit over the repulsive softness. The issue began again at my chest, sending me wriggling and struggling against the mattress until I finally slid my arms into the fabric with a gasp, panting until the beads of sweat on my forehead began to cool.
Swallowing dryly, I moved to my feet, feeling both at once cradled and revealed by the thin weave. The mask lay curled in the bottom of the bag, and I tugged it on, blinking in disbelief at the mechanical display that overlayed my usual reality. "F… Friday?"
"Yes, Penny?" The soft, melodic voice resonated in my skull, a faint trace of the speech's intonation appearing in the corner of my view.
"No way," I whispered, head pivoting in stunned reverie. Information boxes expanded before me, outlining the materials within and uses of the sparse contents of my guest room. A shocked laugh burst from my lips, spiking the sound wave.
Tumblr media
I was viewing the materials of my suit before recognition dawned, so dumbfounded by the number of unknown components that it took longer than it should for the reality before me to sink in.
The thickened fabric along my torso flattened and sculpted my body in invisible ways, carefully crafting soft curves into hard lines, adding bumps and bulges where that had only been smooth skin and devastating hollows. My fingertips traced a line – a straight line – between collarbone and navel, struck to silence as tears pricked in the corners of my eyes. My hips and chest had become imperceptible, and I watched with fascination as my shoulders shifted under the fabric, every inch of muscle lovingly emphasised, when my hand moved to touch the curve of my throat, the imbedded comms system appearing, for all the world, as an Adam's apple.
"M… Mr. Stark…"
"Yes?"
I looked around in shock at the empty room before letting out a gentle laugh, turning back to the mirror. "You can hear me?"
"Built-in communications. Pretty standard Avenger stuff." I could almost see the nonchalant wave of the hand – Tony was, on occasion, almost humble.
"The suit…" Words failed me, hands caressing the length of my body once more, enraptured by the transformation the blue-and-red material had afforded me.
"It's just a prototype, of course," he replied quickly, his voice pitching minutely upwards in his uncertainty. "Changes can be made, if that's what you-"
"No!" I yelped, holding up my hands to an invisible champion. "No… It's… Mr. Stark, it's perfect. I love it."
A soft laugh echoed through the suit, encompassing and comforting. "I'm glad, Penny. But please, call me Tony."
I examined the harsh lines of my body once more, standing taller as I blinked back tears. "Sure, Tony. But only if you'll call me Peter." The smile was audible in his voice as he replied. "You got it, Spider-man."

Mono~poly - AU Information
Tumblr media
Premise: What happens when something that was supposed to be just fun turns into something real? When true love enters the equation between two people who view the very concept of love in different ways, can it work? In this alternate universe, we'll follow Casey and Tobias (and some others along the way) on their journey, where a happy ending is what both desire, but (as in life) nothing is guaranteed.
Fandom: Open Heart, Choices—However, this series does not require extensive knowledge of the original story.
Series Masterlist
Mono~Poly Characters
A/N:  I came up with the idea for this story because I was fascinated by the idea of mono/poly pairings - relationships where one party is polyamorous, but the other is (by choice) monogamous. I initially planned a short series with a distinct beginning, middle, and end. But the more I researched and developed it, I realized there were a lot of areas and topics I wanted to cover. I no longer envisioned a short story that could be tied up quickly and easily; I wanted to delve into a different world and show a loving couple in a relationship that faces everyday challenges, and some rather unique ones, too. We'll follow their growth, individually and together. Their relationship will last a lifetime, but the nature of that relationship will fluctuate... and how it ends remains to be seen - even to me. :)
This is an alternate universe that I hope to write for on an ongoing basis. It is not connected in any way to my HC for Tobias/Casey or for any of my Ethan content.
Works will typically be in a sequential chapter format, but down the line, there may be one-offs that deviate from that. This is a work in progress.
A/N 2: This universe will deal with issues that many have very black and white views on. Note: I prefer to live in grey. There are no one-size-fits-all answers, especially when it comes to personal relationships. I don't buy into the edict that monogamy is the only "right" way. There are healthy and unhealthy monogamous relationships, just as there are healthy and unhealthy polyamorous ones. There will never be one "right" way to have a relationship, and each person has the right to find what works best for them and their partner(s). Once that's decided, they should be allowed to live their lives free of judgment. Unfortunately, more often than not, that's not the case.
Your beliefs and preconceptions will likely impact how you view this series. However, I urge you to keep an open mind. There will be more notes as we go along, but remember the basics: Consensual non-monogamy is not cheating. It's a decision agreed upon by all parties involved—but that does not mean it's simple. As with all types of relationships, there will be mistakes made and rash decisions that have consequences.
I want to be as realistic as possible, so you will see characters who are judgmental and some who are on a learning curve. Sometimes, their ignorance will be based on bias/prejudice (even hatred), but sometimes, it'll be societal conditioning and lack of understanding/empathy. Nothing in this work will be a judgment call on my part—I'm just doing my best to portray this world in a realistic, non-fatastical light.
I will be providing information on original characters and other additional supplements as the series progresses.

The Ranma 1/2 remake is giving me feelings
That's right. In this era of anime remakes, Ranma 1/2 is stepping up to the plate and will be animated by Studio Mappa! I do like me some works by Mappa. I just saw the new OP for it and so much of it refers directly back to the original OP, including keeping a few key animation sequences! I dunno - I don't want to be disappointed by it but at the same time I want to watch it.
youtube
Out of all of the remakes bouncing around this one pulls at me the most. Sure, I was all on board with Sailor Moon Crystal ten years ago but Ranma 1/2 was the first manga I ever bought! The nostalgia and continued love of the series is strong within me.
It is definitely hitting different seeing that this was my first manga series ever. I put a Shampoo sticker in my Ti-34 calculator which only recently went on the fritz at the ripe old age of twenty-eight and is still in my desk at work. I have a Ranma 1/2 poster still in my old closet at my parents' house (someday I should actually, you know, grab it), I bought fan art at Anime Expo in 2022 and even this summer I got a Ranma double sided charm from a local artist at an Asian food festival who also tables at local cons/art markets. I have to admit, I got all excited for the Trigun reboot and if you've been reading along you know I was incredibly disappointed. And you also have a rough estimate of my age based on when I watched it originally as a fan sub. Yet if there is any series that can be used to date me it is Ranma 1/2 since I bought all of my manga before university. I oddly kept telling myself I'd round out the collection when I got older and had more money to complete it. I never did and it has remained a mess of the original Viz editions. Behold! The first English edition of Ranma 1/2 in the left-to-right, hand lettered, and redrawn sound effects all in English.
Tumblr media
Volume 1 cost $16.95 when I bought it which would have worked out to a whopping $33 adjusted for inflation, with a publication date of May 1993. Purchasing those early volumes from Viz was not for the faint of heart or those with shallow pockets. This is reminding me why I never back filled volumes 5-7 within my own collection, coming in at $15.95 each. I'm pretty sure that a few of them were likely Christmas presents as well . . .
These editions are what eventually came to match the size of the Viz Signature versions like Maison Ikkoku and Gokinjo Monogatari. These are hefty books and have held up pretty well over the years.
Tumblr media
So I now find myself in the exact same position I was in before Trigun Stampede - do I reread the manga and finish it off since I likely only read the first third of it? And then do I take the time to review the new anime from Mappa?
Unlike Trigun which required me to start from scratch having only watched the anime, I've read up to volume 12 of the original manga and filled in the gaps by watching the original anime back in 2014/2015 to around where I'd read it - I think.
One of the issues is that I have the old format for it where there are no chapter numbers like it would have run in the weekly magazine to directly compare with. Viz did a really weird format since it started out as a comic with different arcs and parts and all mine have part 1-13/14 per volume. If I'm not mistaken, there were two subsequent editions of Ranma 1/2 in English; a right-to-left reprint of the original Japanese tankobon with the sequential chapter numbers from the magazine which then was later bundled into a 2 in 1 edition also in the right-to-left format.
Going by chapter names, I'm going to check out various volumes of the 2 in 1 edition from my local library and hope they line up to cover my gaps and then continue onward from chapter 142, The Mark of the Gods.
I also read the edition which really struggled to describe okonomiyaki to a non-Japanese reader. For several years, my young mind tried to square how they were like pizza when they were made on a griddle but had lots of toppings?!?!
Tumblr media
I still don't know why the translators chose to localize it this way. They could have simply called it a savory pancake and it would have solved a lot of reader confusion.
It wasn't until university when I was hanging out with friends that I had the chance to make real okonomiyaki (a friend's roommate was Japanese) and the first thing I blurted out was something along the lines of "Like Ukyo from Ranma!" Granted, Ukyo was one of my fav characters at the time. Anyhoo, perhaps I'll do some meta posts as I read the manga and build up to watching the new anime. I don't think I'll have it in me to compare to the original anime since I read the manga long before watching the anime here in there for about fifteen years. I'm also curious to compare the later English editions with mine to see if there are some minor differences or not. I haven't seen the solid colored books like mine since I bought them in the first place.

AU prompt for Opalvira week, chapter 2 of Division, read here on ao3! ***
Jinora deposited Kuvira outside the town of Gaipan with the promise of staying the night in town and leaving the next day at noon, with or without Kuvira.
On her person, Kuvira packed her glider and a small pouch of coins. Despite having more in her possession than any air nomad should, she approached the maglev train which rested imposingly on the horizon feeling distinctly unequipped.
As a guard in Zaofu, Kuvira had never walked outside this unarmoured. While her weapons were readily accessible, the air around her and the hands at her side, Kuvira felt uncertain. Not afraid, but uneasy.
She approached some soldiers with little fanfare. She explained to the guards she was an air nomad, an old friend of the Great Uniters, that she wanted to speak to them.
The guards looked somewhat skeptical, but it was clear to Kuvira that her nomad uniform earned her some goodwill. People were fascinated with airbenders, and respected the non-violence of the nomads. Though Kuvira couldn’t understand it, she was grateful for it. She doubted the guards would have entertained her at all, if not for her uniform. Perhaps it was just the presence of a uniform that they respected. Kuvira could understand that.
Half an hour passed with Kuvira standing empty-handed in front of the train before a female guard approached Kuvira again and led her up inside of it.
It was bizarre—to watch the guard unlock and relock each compartment behind them as she escorted Kuvira deeper and deeper into the train. It was hypnotic.
It was different from seeing the maglev from the outside—a sleek shark of platinum and steel. It looked like the tip of a sword, slicing through the landscape with unstoppable ease.
Inside, the maglev was like a cage.
Three compartments in, Kuvira felt a heady rush of claustrophobia, knowing she could not leave this train without the help of a metalbender. She found the feelings within herself before they rose too high. She tamed them, and progressed on without any sign of complaint or worry. What did she have to be worried about, after all?
The elaborate nature of the sequential compartments was a sign of paranoia, but good foresight. If Bataar and Opal were intending to continue to run a successful nation, they needed a strong and defensible base. If anything, it was a shock that Kuvira could get this far in without Bataar or Opal personally confirming that it was her.
The nomad uniform certainly was a powerful thing.
Kuvira wondered, though—if Opal and Bataar were this well hidden, if it would be possible for Kuvira to get the answers she wanted in just one conversation. With each compartment bypassed, Kuvira became more and more skeptical.
At last, the guard delivered Kuvira outside a pair of sliding doors. The guard hung back, watching Kuvira expectantly. Apparently, the guard could no longer proceed, but was still waiting at the ready in case Kuvira was a threat.
Kuvira looked at the doors. They were metal, but a thin kind, and collapsible. No doubt that, like everything on this train, this was built with metalbenders in mind, but Bataar was a nonbender. So, this door was multi-use, something that Kuvira could pull open physically. Kuvira gained the distinct impression that she was in the heart of the operation now.
She reached forward and stifled a grunt as she pulled the door aside. Heavier than she had expected.
The room hidden behind the door was much wider. Instead of being framed on both sides by compartments, the room was an open area, with two desks and a large table clearly intended for dining. And there were windows—wide windows that let in the view and sunlight from outside. Windows that Kuvira could break if need be.
Kuvira could see the town again and felt distinctly like she’d emerged from a cave. Kuvira had not been panicking, but still—she knew she could breathe easier now.
She looked ahead, taking a closer observation of the room.
Kuvira didn’t notice Opal at one of the desks until her gaze had accidentally passed over her, a statue prompting a second look.
Opal was buried at her desk among mounds of documents, a discontent frown on her face as she concentrated on what she was reading. She hadn’t noticed Kuvira enter, or at least had not acknowledged it.
Kuvira stepped forward, light on her feet, and Opal still did not react. Kuvira settled, still, and observed the girl.
Opal looked different. Her bob hairstyle had become somewhat sleeker and straighter, with less stray whisps of hair breaking free. Of course, her outfit was completely changed from the dresses she had favoured back in Zaofu. And she was clearly older, even if only three years had passed. Her face had narrowed slightly, losing some of its childish roundness, and Kuvira could see some new solemn maturity in Opal’s demeanor. She hadn’t seen Opal ever since she’d left Zaofu outside of newspapers. Kuvira could not deny that it was pleasant to see her again.
Kuvira, not knowing what to say and not knowing how to not startle Opal, settled on gently clearing her throat.
Distractedly, Opal glanced up from her papers. Then the woman’s face lit up with a smile when she finally noticed who had entered.
“Kuvira!” Opal cried out, getting to her feet. She grinned, her solemness melting away and suddenly looking every bit the chipper sixteen-year-old Kuvira had said goodbye to three years ago. “I heard you were looking to speak to me and Bataar. What are you doing here?”
“I was in the neighborhood,” Kuvira half-lied, stepping forward. She wondered briefly if Opal had become a little taller.
Kuvira raised her arms, as though expecting an embrace. Opal did not disappoint, immediately stepping forward into Kuvira’s space and hugging her. Kuvira placed her hands on Opal’s back, feeling the soft cloth material beneath the bands of metal Opal had wrapped around her neck, shoulders, and upper arms. Yes, Opal had become taller, if only by an inch.
“I thought it would be nice to catch up.”
“Definitely,” Opal agreed, reluctantly pulling away and glancing up at Kuvira.
As though suddenly realizing how close they were, Opal quickly looked away and stepped back, almost blushing, and deferring to Kuvira as instinctively as she had when she had been a girl.
“Are you busy now?” Kuvira asked, angling her body to follow Opal.
“I’m always busy,” Opal laughed, stepping backwards and towards her desk. “But we’ve stopped now, so you and I can definitely chat before you have to go.”
If Opal was expecting Kuvira to leave soon, she would have to be exceptionally deft about asking to stay.
Opal’s expression drew taut, thinking. “In fact,” she deliberated. “You should stay for dinner, since the train won’t be leaving this town until morning.” She shrunk slightly, embarrassed. “Unless you have somewhere you need to be.”
And here was the truth about Opal—she was so much more personable than her brother. She wasn’t well-practiced, or incredibly confident, but she was likeable, charming in how human she was. Kuvira had listened to her speeches on the radio over the years—how Opal could joke at her own expense, and then in the same minute start a passionate speech about uniting the Earth Nation into a safe, productive, and stable society. Her passion could be intimidating, but Opal was so earnest that most people couldn’t help but be endeared to her. She reminded everyone of their daughter, their sister, their schoolfriend. She reminded Kuvira of that shy, young metalbender from Zaofu.
Kuvira smiled at Opal, reaching out to touch Opal’s arm, just beneath the metal bands. She kept her touch brief, but firm.
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be right now,” Kuvira promised.
Opal smiled, and when Kuvira let her hand fall she noticed Opal turn her body, reaching up to touch the spot that Kuvira had touched.
“I’ll get Chef to make us something,” Opal said. “Air nomads are vegetarian, right?”
Truth be told, Kuvira wished they weren’t. Travelling with Jinora, Kuvira couldn’t even consider getting a meal with meat without getting an evil eye for her troubles.
“Don’t change your plans on my account,” Kuvira insisted.
“It’s no trouble,” Opal insisted right back. “I like vegetarian food. Besides, you remember Chef. He makes all cuisine taste like the best cuisine.” Kuvira did not remember ‘Chef’, but she’d take Opal’s word for it.
Opal’s eyes were shining, utterly focused on Kuvira. Opal was so friendly that it was hard to know if this was special treatment. But Kuvira felt so utterly observed, like Opal was cherishing the opportunity to look at her again. She hoped Opal liked the airsuit—the colours didn’t suit Kuvira, but she knew it hugged her frame. And well, people seemed to like an air nomad uniform.
Kuvira cleared her throat again, for once genuinely not knowing what to say.
“Thanks for dropping in, Kuvira,” Opal spoke up. “Bataar will be happy to see you again.” And she wore a genuine smile, but Kuvira could spot the subtle tension, the slightest shadow of discomfort, to her gaze when she mentioned her brother.
Kuvira and Bataar had never dated, but Kuvira had always suspected he would have wanted to.
“Actually,” Opal deliberated, “I’ll go get him now—”
“No need,” Kuvira said quickly, figuring she should cut to the point of her visit. “I came to speak to you.”
Perhaps it was a clumsy move, telegraphing her intentions so early on, but she didn’t want to talk to Bataar. He was even more lovesick over Kuvira than Opal had been. She suspected he’d waste Kuvira’s time and then try to kiss her. Opal, on the other hand, was likely in charge of the operation and lacked the classic male arrogance that expected his attraction to be reciprocated.
And all that aside, Kuvira was actually interested in knowing how things had been for Opal these past few years.
“What?” Opal asked. She looked confused. “What for?” Then her expression went a little cool. “Ah. Not a social call, huh?” This was new—Opal was suspicious. But Kuvira could hardly fault her—Opal had reason to be, and responsibilities that demanded it of her even if she had no reasons at all.
“No, no,” Kuvira insisted, letting herself smile. “It is. I do want to catch up. Just … I’d rather do so with you.” There was no subtle, polite way of putting it, unless she wanted to play a more treacherous game with Bataar.
“You always loved Bataar’s architectural designs when you were younger,” Opal fretted. “He’s really the brains of most of this. I’m just the face.”
And what a face, Kuvira almost said. Kuvira was so easily forgetting how domineering Opal was of her people, her army. She was exactly like the girl Kuvira had known in Zaofu, sweet face, head in the clouds.
Kuvira wondered if she should lie to Opal, pretend that it had always been Opal Kuvira had been most interested in. But it wasn’t true. Kuvira had been more interested in Bataar’s designs, his idealism matching her own. She’d hoped to find some aptitude in engineering herself, but it had only been fun in theory and she’d lost interest in the subject and, to some extent, Bataar. And all that aside, Opal would be able to tell that Kuvira was lying.
She also didn’t believe Opal when she said that she was just the face of what she and her brother were doing. Opal knew what was happening, and knowing Bataar and Opal—she likely also had the final say.
“Frankly, I think … you’d tell the story of your journey better than Bataar,” Kuvira offered.
Opal laughed at that, startled.
“I mean,” she agreed, “I won’t talk about engineering for half an hour, true. I can tell you what we’ve actually accomplished outside of what we’ve built.”
“Exactly,” Kuvira said, feeling cool satisfaction unwind in her chest.
“And a lot of that information is confidential anyway,” Opal said, voice taking on a scolding tone, as though remembering that she’d need to warn Bataar not to get too friendly with Kuvira.
And even then, Opal turned back to her desk and stacked all her documents together, sweeping them into a drawer which she then locked with a twist of her wrist. Only a metalbender would be able to open such a drawer.
Opal really thought Kuvira might be a spy. Which, fair enough, Kuvira was in most ways. Kuvira still couldn’t tell whether she should feel offended or impressed.
“I’m not asking you to divulge top military secrets,” Kuvira said, rolling her eyes like Opal was being ridiculous, unreasonable. Kuvira was clearly not going to get the answers she needed today. “Just tell me what you’ve been up to these past few years.”
Opal grinned at that, easy as anything.
Opal led Kuvira through a tour of the train while explaining to her how they were delivering goods to the town as well as the logistics that lay behind it all.
It was interesting, but professional, rehearsed—not in the way that Kuvira felt like Opal was lying, but in the way that Opal had no doubt explained the situation many times to many different people, Kuvira just one person among many.
Opal’s explanations were polished, but she seemed rather proud of herself, which was endearing. And well-earned. It was impressive. To raise this entire train from an image in Bataar’s mind to a reality—Kuvira wished she could have done something like this these past few years instead of developing a minor allergy to air bison fur.
But, at the same time, Kuvira was glad to see the minutes pass and the tour come to an end, after which they returned to the main office. The office was more interesting to Kuvira than how grain and produce was stored, how the army’s quarters were organized, and Opal’s attempts at explaining how the glass windows were constructed.
Of course, there was a trade off. Bataar was there.
He blinked behind his glasses—he was surprised to see her.
“Kuvira!” he cried out, standing and moving from behind the table he had been sat at. Kuvira seemed to have a similar impact on both him and his sister.
“Hello Bataar,” she greeted, trying to sound warm but only polite.
“I told the guards to let you in,” he said. “And then—I couldn’t find you. I assumed you had left.”
“I was just giving her the tour,” Opal grinned.
Bataar walked over and Kuvira couldn’t deny him a brief hug. She didn’t let it linger, though.
“What brings you here?” Bataar asked.
“Just passing through on air nomad business.” It wasn’t wholly a lie. “I was curious to find what you two have been up to, these past few years.”
Bataar was all too willing to explain.
They settled down for dinner, and in more detail Bataar recounted the construction of the train—how they had pieced it together plate by metal plate, working with both the Earth Army and contracted townspeople to build the tracks. Both Bataar and his sister avoided specificity of how they dealt with towns much more beyond the charity work.
It was a relief to find that Bataar wasn’t as clingy as Kuvira feared he would be.
He sat across from Kuvira while Kuvira sat by Opal’s side, utterly content to explain all of the details of the marvel of technology he had led the charge in developing. Apparently, he was in communication with a nonbending engineer from Republic City for further expansion of his plans—but he didn’t dip into too much explanation which Kuvira was thankful for.
Feeling a little bored, and to bait the waters, Kuvira leaned her thigh against Opal’s, pretending not to notice, like she had no sensation in her leg. Opal’s warm thigh tensed where it was leaned against Kuvira’s, and the indulgent expression she’d been giving her brother froze on her face. But then Opal pulled away, as though deliberating that Kuvira must have made some mistake. There was an undeniable flush blooming on the very crest of her cheeks though.
The food was probably the best vegetarian food Kuvira had ever eaten. Not because Jinora didn’t have good taste—growing up as a rich kid in Republic City didn’t leave Jinora with low standards—but this was still clearly superior.
Bataar insisted the ingredients were the same food as the Earth Kingdom army handed out to the towns, but there was something about the mixture of spices and acidity, the barest hint of sweetness and some unnamed fermentation. It was a sort of peanut-flavoured noodle dish with cabbage and carrots and vegetables Kuvira couldn’t even recognize—and it was incredibly flavourful, salty on Kuvira’s tongue and hot in her throat. The sauce clung to her mouth, burning her lips. Opal’s lips also looked a little redder at the edges, no doubt tingling from the heat just as Kuvira’s were. The food served at Jinora’s favourite restaurant in Republic City had been good. This was so much better.
“The maglev, of course, has only paid off,” Bataar was saying. “Nearly exponentially, I’d say. New recruits, new resources, new legitimacy even.”
“It was probably the most important investment we’ve ever made,” Opal admitted. “The greatest risk.”
“It’s all incredibly impressive,” Kuvira admitted, to both Bataar and Opal equally, finding the lull in the conversation.
Opal and Bataar both looked pleased for the praise. It probably felt different coming from someone who had grown up in Zaofu. Kuvira couldn’t imagine they had many fans back there.
“I can’t help but wonder how the two of you made this transition—from Zaofu to … this.” Kuvira gestured vaguely. She didn’t even entirely understand what this entailed. “Being the Great Uniters.”
Opal went quiet but Bataar was quieter.
Kuvira wondered if she had made a mistake. But she had figured this was the natural progression of the conversation. Opal seemed to agree, relenting.
“Well, after we left Zaofu, we just tried to help,” Opal began softly. “We went to Ba Sing Se, where anarchy was raging after the Queen’s assassination, and tried to get it under control.”
“And we did,” Bataar interjected.
“People rewarded us with trust. Loyalty.” It was clear that Opal valued those things. “We … we wanted to live up to that.”
“After we saw that we could make a positive change,” Bataar added, “we didn’t want to stop.”
“I bet Su loved that,” Kuvira observed.
Opal grinned at that, wickedly delighted. Bataar also smirked.
“She’s …” Opal trailed off then, expression growing more serious. “She’s worried about us. Both of us. I’m—I’m the baby girl and Bataar is …”
“Not a metalbender,” Bataar said simply. “Mother never thought I’d amount to anything outside of Zaofu.”
“Oh, come on,” Opal said softly, aside to her brother. “You know that’s not true.”
“She thought I would just take over wherever father left off,” Bataar said. “She assumed you would just one day take her place. And now she resents us for not living according to her expectations.”
“That’s not true,” Opal said again, but she didn’t make any genuine arguments to the contrary. “Shes just … worried.”
“Overbearing,” Bataar corrected derisively. “And it’s misguided.”
“Yes, it’s misguided,” Opal agreed with her brother, gently. She reached across the table and put her hand on his wrist. Her hands were remarkably small. They spoke to one another like Kuvira wasn’t in the same room with them.
Kuvira wanted to ask Opal and Bataar about how they hadn’t stepped down for Prince Wu—about what that meant. About how Suyin felt about it, if that’s what got them to speak honestly. But she also didn’t want to press her luck. This was already more openness than Kuvira had expected, judging by how paranoid Opal and Bataar seemed to be.
Instead, Kuvira just cleared her throat softly, as though the spice had irritated her craw.
Opal looked over at her, blinking. Like Kuvira had startled the moment like a water strider skimming over still water.
“This meal was … delicious,” Kuvira said quietly.
Opal accepted the change in topic, beaming. “I’ll pass the compliments on to Chef,” she promised.
Kuvira had finally recognized him when she saw him serving dinner. He had never prepared a meal for Kuvira except for when Suyin had invited Kuvira over, but doubtlessly he’d prepared Opal and Bataar meals their entire lives. It was stunning and hilarious that Opal had left Suyin and Zaofu with her son and her chef in tow.
Kuvira smiled at Opal, who busied herself with her plate instead of holding Kuvira’s gaze.
“Do you have a place for the night?” Bataar asked, eying the setting sun outside through the window—double-paned glass, apparently—facing west.
Kuvira set down her cutlery. She was nowhere close to getting the answers she wanted about Opal and Bataar’s movements or intentions.
“No,” Kuvira admitted. She could probably find Jinora in town, but she didn’t particularly want to.
“We have spare rooms,” Opal said, gesturing to the sliding door behind Kuvira. “You’re welcome to stay the night.”
And then, it struck Kuvira—what had been percolating in the back of her mind ever since she set foot in Gaipan and observed the knifepoint structure of the maglev.
“And if I wanted to stay for longer than a night?” Kuvira asked.
Opal blinked, uncomprehending. Even Bataar was blank faced.
“What if … I want to join you,” Kuvira said, and she found that it wasn’t a lie. It was actually more honest than what she had told Korra. Still, Opal and Bataar said nothing. “If you’ll have me.”
She laughed shortly. “Your speech worked—Opal—you have me won.”
“You can’t join us, you’re an air nomad,” Opal replied at last, snapping from her stunned state. “Nomads aren’t allowed to pick sides in conflicts.”
That wasn’t entirely true—nomads were meant to be non-violent, but they were an organization, and by default were political. Besides, Jinora and Avatar Korra were more than willing to use Kuvira for their ends.
“I may be an airbender, but I’m always going to be an Earth Nation citizen,” Kuvira shrugged. “They conscripted me. And, if this is a problem, what would the non-violent air nomads do—arrest me?”
Opal looked over at Bataar. She obviously hadn’t been expecting this.
“Listening to you today I realized … I’m sick of just, helping individuals when there’s bigger problems at play,” Kuvira hissed, realizing as she spoke that she was telling the truth. She never could have said this to Jinora, not in so few words, not with this much frustration.
“I bring people loaves of bread and bags of rice and I come back a month later and people are still needy, people are still starving. I want to be part of real change—with you and your brother. I want to help the Earth Nation. Opal—please let me.”
Kuvira glanced over at Bataar, knowing he would help her. “Bataar.”
“I mean, it may look good to have an air nomad’s support,” Bataar said quietly. “Even if they disavow her. Having an airbender, in addition to two nonbenders, it may make us look more progressive. That you’re truly representing the entire Earth Kingdom’s interests, not just metalbenders.”
Opal considered, looking conflicted.
“It’s not that, I just don’t think there’s any place for you to help us here,” Opal said. Her voice was small, soft and considering. “We don’t really have anything for you to do here.” Kuvira was so close.
“I’ll make myself useful,” Kuvira said, half-desperate. “I’ll push papers. I’ll help your chef with prep work.” She’d find something to do, she’d make a position for herself.
Suddenly and intensely she did not want to leave this train. She wanted to understand what Opal and Bataar were doing here, and if she could help people by working alongside the Earth Kingdom army instead of the nomads, she’d do it.
“You know I’m excellent in a fight, even without bending,” Kuvira said. “If there are supplies to hand out, I can do that.”
She reached out, considering placing her hand on Opal’s shoulder but deciding the moment before she moved to place her palm carefully on top of Opal’s knee. Bataar wouldn’t see, but Opal would feel her touch beneath the table.
“I can worry about the nomads,” Kuvira insisted. “You won’t even have to pay me. Just give me a spare room. I can pay for my food, if you’d like.” She didn’t have money, but she’d find a way.
“Kuvira—”
“I just feel I can help here in a way I can’t with the nomads,” Kuvira burst in, frustrated. “Please let me help. I’m at your disposal.”
Opal had become a little flushed at Kuvira’s passion, or her proximity.
“You should’ve been a speech writer,” Opal laughed. It was spoken like a confession. Kuvira could see Opal starting to soften and surrender, like snow beneath the first sunrays of spring.
Opal glanced over at Bataar, and Kuvira followed her eyeline. Bataar smiled at his sister, approving. Thank fuck.
Then Opal smiled at Kuvira, a small, sweet smile so out of place on a military leader’s face.
“Welcome aboard Kuvira, I guess.”
When Opal reached down to gently pull Kuvira’s hand away from her thigh, Kuvira could feel her fingers tremble.

Undead Unluck ch.162 thoughts
[Dad of the Year]
Think I spoke too soon with the “it makes you look stupid” comment last week, not because this chapter proves me wrong, but actually because it proves me so so right
There’s really no dignified way to say the word diaper, I think, and admitting that the he put his all into being a good dad specifically to keep up his end of the deal with Fuuko really does make him look like a bit of a fool. And it’s great
In the previous loop, Feng’s single-minded obsession with being the strongest pushing him to make decisions that actively hurt others made him a bit of a flat character. Not a bad or boring one, mind you, just kind of...one note. It was only when Shen posed the question of whether or not Feng saw him and his sister as family that some real nuance began to arise, as I mentioned in another post last week
Now we see pretty much immediately that, yes, they definitively are a family, albeit a dysfunctional and likely toxic one, with Feng openly resenting Shen and Mei for their part in preventing him from living the life he wants to. However, just like he came back to help Shen at the end of Loop 100, it’s pretty easy to guess that Feng’s arc will end with the realization that raising Shen actually not only benefited him in the long run, but was also emotionally fulfilling
The most important lesson for Feng to learn in this arc is that his view on individual strength is wrong, which we know not only because he’s a villain, but because that’s literally what Undead Unluck is about. With very few exceptions, every fight in Undead Unluck has been either one vs. 2+ or team vs. team, the most notable one-on-one’s being Andy vs. Billy or Fuuko vs. Void. Even Fuuko vs. Feng wasn’t really one-on-one, as her Unluck brought UMA Heat into the mix. Fuuko and Shen working together to stop the attack that killed him in the previous loop perfectly demonstrates exactly this concept, further setting up this arc’s theme of teamwork and interpersonal growth
Interestingly, Feng has never had a proper one-on-one on screen, and likely didn’t learn his lesson about the strength of the group vs. the individual because he was defeated by a group; “weaklings banding together,” one might say. To him, the fact that he lost doesn’t mean his philosophy was wrong, just that he hadn’t trained enough to be capable of defeating a group. To prove that individual strength isn’t everything, Feng ironically and counterintuitively likely needs to be beaten in a one-on-one match
If I’m right, this is the entire point of Fuuko’s statement at the end of the chapter: that with her help, Shen is going to gain the individual strength to overcome Feng. Shen and Feng’s final battle will be one-on-one and prove that Shen is stronger, but Shen will have attained that individual strength not through training in isolation, but by learning lessons from experiences with others. Feng can still value his own strength, but the method through which he will strive to improve his strength will be changed by what he sees in this tournament
I also said last week that this tournament won’t just be a showcase of Negators beating down non-Negators and that the tournament itself would be truncated in some way to focus on the Negators specifically. I’m now seeing how Tozuka likely plans to handle that: Shen is almost certainly going to face each of the participating Union members sequentially, learning something new from facing each of them, possibly with some kind of sage advice from Fuuko in the interim. Imagine Vegeta vs. Cabba from Dragon Ball Super, but without the immediate beatdown to show the vast power difference
I am really hoping that Shen won’t steal too much of the spotlight from Yusai, though, cus this definitely seems like a good opportunity for us to see more of her character. I imagine it will go something like Fuuko giving Yusai advice on how to fight Shen in a way that will help him grow by the end without actually throwing the fight, and either she’ll be pushed further than expected and feel like she’s not going to be able to give him a helpful experience OR she’ll trounce him and worry that she’s a bad teacher unable to fulfill Fuuko’s request; either way, she’ll likely draw inspiration from some of her father’s teachings, using them to keep up with Shen or inspire him to take a new approach
Void and Billy will likely do something along the same line, though probably more along the line of overwhelming Shen. I’m particularly excited to see Shen vs. Void specifically, as it will create a very interesting parallel to their initial introduction as partners in back in ch.2! They didn’t have much development at the time, of course, but the contrast will certainly make for a fun chapter or two!
As for Shen’s motivations here, we can all agree it’s for Mui, right? We know they’re poor, so he almost definitely wants the money to help take care of her and her brother; maybe we’ll actually learn the brother’s name this time!
Naturally, I could be wrong and we might actually see Fuuko fight Billy or Yusai herself here, which would certainly be interesting, I just don’t think it would contribute to Shen’s development much, which is definitely the focus of this arc. Whatever happens next chapter will most likely establish the flow of the arc going forward
See y’all next week!

a timeline of dying light, chapter 2
a community of feral bitty live and fight and survive- or die- in a half deserted neighborhood, within a failing city, in a timeline that itself seems on the verge of losing all HoPe. the story centers on Cade, a science sans bitty smaller than any of the local bitty, whose fascination with field medicine and bitty health leads him to becoming the local medic for the feral packs and warrens against many odds.
the smallest spark from the most flickering candle, can rekindle hope in the darkest of places...
these chapters are non sequential. ...seriously. mind the tags.

Hi 💓
It is the month of Ramadan and I want to avoid reading any smutty/steamy fics for the month. Which is why I was wondering if you have any Jungkook or Taehyung non smut fic recs? It can be fluff or anything just no explicit sex scenes. Thank you for your recommendations you are literally my favorite page on this platform 💜✨
🌷 Hello @dhabatae101. First, I wish you and other followers a happy, safe, and blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak! ✨
I decided to answer this right away so I tried compiling my reblogs (plus those fics I haven’t reviewed yet) and authors that “specialize” in fluff/angst. However, the list went on and on 🤭. So, I will split this post into two:
Part 1: authors that have more SFW content in their catalog (you are here)
Part 2: non-smut fics (my reblogs + other recs) - Taehyung | Jungkook
Tumblr media
(Fluff/Angst) Smut-less Fics | Taehyung & Jungkook
🌷 Part 1 (Recommended Authors)
Tumblr media
@jimlingss - Kina’s masterlist is just a dream. No two stories are the same and every fic is just memorable. A truly prolific and consistent writer. Usually witty, fluffy, and charming but the angsty fics are also deadly. I posted my fave JJK and KTH fics -  the Worshipers Series can be read independently but better if read sequentially to better understand the “universe”. The Slice of Life Series  is also a must, but you can read the KTH and JJK fics on their own but I seriously love ALL 💖.
Worshipers of the Sky - KTH | series [3/3] | 35k | God AU, Goddess!OC, Sacrifice!Taehyung, Worshipers Series | F, some A

A Piece of Moonlight - JJK | one shot | 22k | Warrior AU, Mulan AU | really angsty though
*didn’t include Chess of Ice (since this is in the Jungkook Jock AU list)
@inktae - If you’ve been following me I always rave about this author. Mostly her work is of fantasy genre but has a slice of life tone. Her fics are just masterpieces - just beautifully written and viscerally gripping. They remind me of Ghibli films for some reason (like the tone). You can check their fics here (just avoid those with M, usually with sexual content but honestly it’s not explicit). I love everything but if you want to start somewhere, you can try:
Blue Orchids, Moonlight, Home After Rain -  JJK Soulmate AU, Hanahaki AU, Angst  ⭐ #holygrailfic
First Light - KTH x R x JJK | raved about it here (angst)
Away From the Sun - KTH | soulmate AU
The train of lost souls - JJK, feat JHS | fantasy AU | A
The swirling Ways of Stars - JJK, fantasy | A, F
@gukyi - for your enemies to lovers needs. This is one of my favorite tropes so I just love that there is a writer that ‘specializes” in this. Please check their masterlist and take note of fics with (smut). Try:
Four Weeks - KTH, College AU, stuck in campus for four weeks during Christmas
Good Luck Charm - KTH, roommates, actor AU
Moonlight Melody + Part 2 - JJK, fake dating, orchestra AU | F, A

@koorara - ugh I just adore their writing. Tooth-rotting fluff seems effortless with her drabbles/short stories. You can check their fics here. My faves:
Driving Me Wild - JJK, demon au, roommate au, ongoing drabble series but you can read it (not cliffhanger-ish), soulmate au | my review (tooth-rotting fluff)
His Dandelion - KTH, someone sent an ask about this you can read the description | A
Down and Down - JJK | MMA fighter, slight making out | A, F
The Pitter Patter of the Heart - skip the drabble with mature content, husband au, lecturer jungkook, this is super cuuuute | tooth-rotting fluff

Access Granted - I like hacker Jungkook. SMAU format
A Cinderella Story - JJK | also based on the movie | F, A
Wherever You Are - JJK | vampire, ceo (I love this) | A, F

Made of Honor -  KTH | SMAU, recently completed! Like the movie
Baby I’m a Fool - JJK | Fake Dating, Co-worker AU, E2L | F, A
@vanaera - her Yoongi coworker E2L series is something I’m always waiting for and  I don’t think her other fics contain smut. Please check The Prince and His Rose (bestfriend AU, College AU, childhood friends, football player x writer!reader Jungkook, fluff/angst)
@namjoonchronicles - so I recently binged on this author’s writing (still bingeing on her other members’ fics). Their catalog has a lot of Domestic AUs which are beautiful slice of life pieces. It could be as simple as folding the laundry but it would be so meaningful. I said in one of my reviews that their domestic fics has same vibes as illustrator Puung’s Love is in Small Things. I would like to post my favorites here but I think I recently just reviewed/reblogged tons of their work (you can search my blog for the reviews). Please check their masterlist. Granite Glow is my ⭐ #holygrailfic
@rosaetae - if you like angst that hurts but it all makes sense why the situation had to be angsty, then her masterlist is something to binge on. Not all are angsty, just mind the tags for pure “fluff”. My favorites:
The Bedtime Contract - KTH, roommates, enemies to lovers, sort of cuddle buddy?, fluff but there’s slight angst | F, A
Dream a Little Dream of Me - KTH, soulmate au, could hear soulmate’s voice, waitress x songwriter |

Swapped - JJK, body swap, really fluffy! I reviewed it before and screamed at how fluffy this is 😍 | tooth-rotting fluff

@bubmyg - oh wow her works are just tooth-rotting fluffy goodness too (especially the Yoongi drabbles/one shots). But please check her fics for Tae and Koo. My picks:
Can’t Fake a Feeling - KTH, F2L, Fake Dating, College AU, Fuckboy (not smut)

new romantics - JJK | hogwarts au, quidditch player, enemies to lovers | F, A
@crystaljins - another writer with fics that have well-developed plot, great angst and great endings. I recommend all (check other members’ fics here). Extra love for:
Take a Chance - JJK | series [7/7] | 63k | Hanahaki AU, Coworker AU, Boss!Reader, Wedding Planner AU | A, F | My review  ⭐ #holygrailfic
Schemes and Tricks to Win Her Heart - KTH | series [5/5] | 22.5k | Fake Dating, feat Chaebol/Rich Seokjin, Taehyung is Jin’s Little Brother, and OC is Tae’s bestfriend
I haven’t read the new Taehyung Christmas fic yet but give it a spin =)
@springbean - I love her story concepts and ideas! When I discovered her, I just binged on their work and I enjoy every new fic she releases. My personal favorites are listed below, but you can also check her masterlist here:
Onyx - JJK | cyberpunk AU, abo dynamics (it is sooo interesting to use abo dynamics this way. Usually abo is associated with werewolf aus but this is like a social classification system in this fic. It is still ongoing but it’s the type of story you can read and remember easily so in case it gets updated you can jump into the next chapter)  ongoing | A, F
Wolfsbane - KTH | Werewolf AU, college, soulmates (included in my KTH werewolf fic recs)
Cursed - JJK | Prince x Mage/Witch, Fantasy, Medieval, E2L, action (basically has all AUs I like) ongoing
Enshrined - JJK | this is new! fantasy, fae world, isekai, childhood friends, eventual smut (?) but since we’re not there yet you can still read it smut-less  ongoing
@army-author - another prolific writer with a catalog you can binge on. I recently reblogged/reviewed some of my favorites but believe me there are more (I am just lazy with reviewing and such). Personal faves:
Gamomania - JJK | childhood friends | tooth-rotting fluff, slight S
X and O - KTH | fake dating, single parent, teacher AU
A Monster Crush - KTH | childhood friends, angst, fluff, horror, implied S   ongoing
All This Stigma - KTH | fwb au, unplanned pregnancy, arranged marriage, divorce, really angsty but I love it!
The Village Idiots - JJK | soulmate au, childhood friends, they’re soulmate-less (or are they?) |  tooth-rotting fluff
The Alchemy of Amor - JJK | fantasy au, royalty au, enemies to lovers (new) | F
Fire and Ice - JJK | oh this is probably the first I’ve read from the author, E2L but make it fluffy rivals (he’s fire and she can yield ice), fantasy au, magic | F
Black and White Christmas - JJK | Office AU | F
@thedefinitionofbts - I love how emotionally invested I get when reading their fics. Most of their fics are smut-less but deeply rooted in emotions so I remember the story a lot even if I’ve read some years or months ago (I said in my werewolf fic rec list that there’s this Jungkook fic of theirs that’s really sad and I still imagine him waiting for OC.) Just powerful storytelling. You can check their masterlist and mind the fics with smut. I wanted to list my favorites here but I’ll end up listing everything. If you want to start a fic, I recommend:
A Story that We Paint - KTH x R x JJK | Sci-fi, College AU, Lucid Dreams AU | A, slight F
Our First and Last - JJK, VMIN | Soulmate AU, Sci-Fi | A, F
Kingdom of Crystal Snow - KTH | Christmas, Royalty (yay something purely fluffy)
Corner of the Universe - KTH | Reincarnation AU
other fics I like have S content or too sad
@threeletterslife - I love her fics because they make me dwell and ponder on things but themes are very heavy (I think she has one crack fic though). No smut and you can try all her works if you are in the mood for angst, some pondering, etc. Masterlist here. You can read the Love Chaser Series (though you have to read the Yoongi series first before reading Jungkook’s, it’s one universe).
Whipped with a Cherry on Top - KTH | friends to lovers, crack
The Time Traveler’s Playbook - KTH | time travel AU | F, A
Cuss Out - JJK | High school AU, crack | F
@artaefact - just feel good scenarios and I love her drabbles! I’ve reblogged and oohed aahed over the drabbles that are short but powerful scenarios.
incandesce + warmth drabble - JJK  (safe to say, you can read all their drabbles) | F
Aeturnal - KTH | fantasy au, royalty au (I loooove this. it has inexplicit S though, you can skip)
A Letter in Roses - KTH | husband au, valentine au
Calling You Mine - JJK | College AU, S2L, tooth-rotting fluff
@augustbutwinter - a writer to watch out for. August delivers so much even with minimal word count; they can get you emotional (fluffy or angsty) and it is so easy to visualize the image she is trying to describe. Just wonderful. The words just flow easily too so the fics are not difficult to read/imagine. I recommend the ff:
My Tears Ricochet - KTH | ghost AU, roommate AU, fluff (sometimes angsty), drabble series ⭐⭐
Rose Coloured - JJK | post college AU, some sort of reunion with an old flame | F
@akinnie75 - What a wonderful storyteller. I would binge on her fics for their plot/storylines. Usually it feels as if you are reading a tale. Several of their fics ended up in my #holygrailfics (the namjoon and jimin ones). You can try:
Ghost Marriage - JJK | fantasy, idol au, kind of arranged marriage | A, F
Until Spring 1 | 2 - JJK | Romance, Fantasy, visited the Freesia Island for Spring but taken for Arranged Marriage instead | A, F
Moonchild - KTH | a tale about the legendary Moonchild, a mythical creature known for its ability to heal life of all sorts

🌷ggukkienote:
I’d also like to recommend checking the fics in each of the reading lists and Fic Recs by theme. You’ll find these lists in the NAVI page. Fics/Titles included per list are usually tagged for A/S/F content.
I will update this once I remember other authors that focus on A/F

I was tagged by @twosides--samecoin ! I have done this challenge before I think ? Maybe? But idk it's been a while and I am atrocious at tagging my posts appropriately so there's no way ill ever find it
I'm gonna tag @kittimau and @possumteeths :)
Rules: We would like to ask you to recommend us 3 of YOUR fics: 1 that is "most popular" and 2 that are "hidden gems”!
1) Illusions series (most popular)
{Rating : EXPLICIT} {Graphic Depictions of Violence} {Manipulation/Gaslighting} {Rough Sex} {Under Negotiated Kink} {ADHD} {PTSD} {Bodyguard Romance}
MacCready/f!sosu. What if the sole survivor hadn't seen Kellog kill her husband and steal her baby? And what if she was pursuing a master's in mechanical engineering at CIT when the bombs dropped and decided to try and build society from scratch instead if dealing with her grief? What if Mac took a job as her bodyguard and unintentionally caught feelings, and therefore near constant fear of history repeating itself as she whirlwinds her way through rebuilding the Commonwealth? And what if they both had ADHD?
Illusions was my first experience in writing fic, and the story just keeps going. Right now I'm thinking it'll be four parts (we're two parts in) but a couple months ago I was thinking 3. When I first started, I was thinking 100k max. 😭
I wrote this story with ADHD in mind, both for the characters and for my readers. I struggle to read for pleasure anymore due to a short attention span, so my writing style prioritizes a quick pace over descriptive prose. If you struggle to read for similar reasons and don't mind having to fill in some blanks yourself, this series might be a good fit for you!
2) Secure
{Rating : EXPLICIT} {Graphic Depictions of Violence} {Rape/Non-Con} {Consensual but not Safe or Sane} {Amnesia}
Craig Boone/f!courier. A Boone fic in which Boone fucks within the first 2k without sacrificing his devotion to Carla. They also fuck in all the other chapters. It's a 25k fuck and angst fest.
3) Tit for Tat
{Rating : EXPLICIT} {Graphic Depictions of Violence} {Blood and Gore} {Gore is Sexy} {Unhealthy Relationships} {Stalking} {Older Man/Younger Woman} {Oral Sex}
Deacon/f!Sosu. Deacon and Whisper swap favors. Whisper is convinced she's losing her partner. Deacon's determined to earn his prize.
The third in a non-sequential ongoing series about a Deacon and a Sosu who aren't involved with one another, because that would be unprofessional. They're really good at playing pretend, though, and the people they pretend to be are some real nasty fuckers.

Fic Release 2/3
This is not a sequel, but I did create a story on AO3 in order to store one-shots and maybe cut or unused material set in the A Distant Ship Smoke verse!
Here’s the link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/44772316/chapters/112647799
Some things for readers to be aware of: whatever I put out will be in non-sequential order. I’m going to keep this as Complete in AO3 because content updates will be irregular for this. Also, like in the major fic, I’ll be using the Implied Sexual Content tag because this one-shot, and some others in the future, have mentions and/or discussions of sex, but no on-screen smut. That’s also why the rating is M, although not all things added to this will be rated M. I’ll add the ratings with the one-shot titles to help readers determine whether it’s SFW or whatever. Feel free to ask questions about the verse or straight-up drop one-shot ideas or requests in the comments (or here on tumblr), but I reserve the right to work on anything given in my own time or just not at all if it crosses one of my writing lines or just doesn’t work for my verse. The few things I currently have noted are set during A Distant Ship Smoke On The Horizon or in the future, but I suppose I could do something before the fic if somebody had a specific idea.

Note
Not to be needy or anything but PLEASE write a sequel to Percolate, one chapter left isn’t enough for me I’m begging you
i have the plot written out but here's the thing: i don't want to write another percolate. like i already did that, you know??
there's nothing fun to me about the idea of setting out to write another 150k-ish words of the same thing, so fundamentally the sequel would be different. Like yes, I would try to include the same humour/writing as the first part, but the tentative plot as it stands is a lot angstier, and as of right now the idea is that it has a non-sequential narrative (each chapter happens out of order, spanning the course of almost 2 years.)
I also worry that like... do ppl not think that perc stands alone as a complete story??? Like I want the final chapter to wrap up and have people be like "okay!! the end!!" and not feel like something was missing - so the idea of setting out already having a sequel in mind makes me feel like I didn't do a good job with percolate in and of itself.
