all this talk of EVs reminded me that I got my beloved shinx's EV's checked on a whim and they were so bad. Like. Near bottom of the barrel. The person actually checked them again just in case. She's perfectly healthy as far as we can tell, maybe it's a genetic thing? Either way my paper towel of a shinx is happy
evs tend to be nongenetic inherently, you mean ivs??? anyway sorry about your shinx's glass bones and negative muscles, but literally do not put too much weight into caring about that shit. im half sure its a pseudoscience anyway

Amena never specifies what "second mom" means and I think that's healthy world building. Why would she explain her normal (except to a confused corporate drone she wants to adopt...)?
The options are really nongenetic or non-carrying mother (given the cloning and other technologies present in the series, those may not be interchangeable).
I dunno. It ranks up there for me with "humans and augmented humans" as thought-provoking and unexplained phrases in the series.

I feel like fanon is what drives fanon in the case of DC comics rather than canon driving fanon. People took the "I hate the comics" to literally and refuse to consume the source material leave themselves only with out of context panels and the headcanons and fan fics of those around them.
This has caused a majority of the fandom to become an echo chamber full of character tropes that are so compressed from the amount of time they've been regurgitated that these three dimensional well rounded characters (that, yeah, might be written a bit inconsistently) are not even characters any more, they're memes*
Characters that could be interesting vessel to explore trauma and hardships along with complexities between each other for fans, instead most of what we get is shallow reflections
Dick is not a slut that everyone loves, the golden big brother. He is a traumatized and angry man, who still tries to find the good around him and lift others up.
Jason isn't a bad boy with a heart of gold. He is another traumatized man, who never got to grow up. Who struggles with the trauma of being failed by the adults in his childhood, left feeling like in some way he failed and wasn't good enough, like what he got was his fault.
Tim's not some reclusive, socially awkward depressed nerd who lives off of coffee. He relys on his social bonds with his peers and family alike. A social butterfly who struggles with depression from the trauma that vigilantism caused, but refuses to give it up because he truly believes in what he's doing.
There is nothing wrong with imaging these characters in AUs or having headcanons that are detached from canon, that is part of the fun of fandom, but it shouldn't be the only part of the source material that you consume. You can't be a batfamily fan if you've never picked up a comic in you life
*Meme in this usage is the more academic version of the word: an element of a culture or system passed from one individual to another by imitation or other nongenetic means.

all this joel and ellie discussion is making me remember the fact that the ultimate nongenetic mental illness dynasty star wars COULD have had is cassian and rey. Man With Just So Many Issues About Being Kidnapped And Forcibly Disconnected From His Entire Home Planet meet Girl With Just So Many Issues About Being Abandoned and Left Alone On Planet. equal and opposite traumas baby! they would give each other Issues. cassian is incredibly trepeditious about doing anything to take rey off jakku like shouldn’t we call your parents where are your parents do you want to stay in touch with unkar plutt we can get uknar plutt’s number so you can stay in touch with unkar plutt WHAT IF YOU TOOK SOME SAND AS A SOUVENIER??? and rey’s like oh my gosh he hates me as well! cassian has all the exit signs on his ship floodlit in three languages so she knows how to LEAVE and she takes this as a sign he wants her to LEAVE. he’s like we can turn around and go back to jakku at ANY TIME and rey is like no no no Sir Mister please NO i’ll be good i promise i’ll be useful and earn my keep and he has to pause take a minute forcibly deal with his own memories of maarva and clem and go no uh no that’s not what it’s about.
in addition acc’d to andor they have both worked in the great family businesss of Scrapping and Reselling old imperial ships and also Staffs. and there is fascinating intergenerational trauma to be had with one of the few worldbuilding details i thought the sequel trilogy did really well, which was showing rey’s life as this person whose grown up in a post war void.... surviving in the literal shadow of imperial machinery, making a living by taking apart what we now know cassian’s generation was forced in death camps to make. she literally lives by taking apart what he made

Imagine Swap! K1-B0 bringing this up whenever someone bugs him about if he can run Doom.
"Hehe, Can you run Doom on your brain?"
"Yep! And so can you!"
"wait what-"
Kiibo: Humanity is fascinating with how it uses imitation to do such amazing things! Doom is just one example of a fascinating form of what is referred to as a 'meme' which for those unaware is a anthropological term for an element of a culture or system of behavior passed from one individual to another by imitation or other nongenetic means. Another form of this can be seen in something referred to as "Bad Apple" A song with a two toned color palette and animations that arent overly complex allowing people to use to practice blah blah blah-
Kaede: ...i dont....what?
Nagisa: I mean...technically he's correct?
Mikan: I uh, I'm sorry but I have completely lost track of this conversation
Ryota: I can run doom? That's so cool!

No, a meme (according to the dictionary) is "an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.
a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by internet users."
I hope that helps? I'm not too good at explaining things so resorting to the dictionary was my best option
