Did my best with this one! This is my first time making an animation, and it was very limited (44 frames max!) due to my very basic iPad. Hope you all like it!

The little chibi who's calling out to him (and the reason he's blushing) is my MC, Willow! And if you can't tell, she has a new design 👀 Been wanting to make a Blades 2 redesign for her, but I haven't found the time. Soon, I hope! I've got this first draft design from what I imagined her new look would be like.

You need more free art.

I quit my job yesterday. Well, actually I quit my job eight weeks ago, but they finally released me yesterday for good behaviour. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do - but I do it for the wrong reasons. Working for major charities, you learn very fast that 'I want to make the world a better place' is a phrase you use to ask people for money, not to give them things. I was an ass-backwards fit for that world.

You need more free art. I need more free art. Everyone has felt the shift in our media landscape over the last ten years, away from access and towards nickel-and-diming the human experience. That lack of access is making life and culture worse for all of us, across the board. Paywalled news sites leave us less informed, attacks on the Internet Archive leave us less capable of research. Algorithmic social feeds and streaming walled gardens trap us inside smaller and smaller demographic bubbles, where we are increasingly only likely to encounter ideas that have been curated for us by marketing departments. Hasty efforts to resist AI commodification have only led to more artists locking their work away and calling for even more onerous systems of copyright law. This is not good for us.

We all need more free art.

So what am I going to do about it?

This is a question I have been asking myself for years. It's easy to sit here feeilng frustrated and thinking 'boy I hope SOMEONE does SOMETHING'. It's harder to take action in a world where I still have rent to pay. But hard doesn't mean impossible. Sometimes hard just means time-consuming, frustrating and slow. And sometimes it's worth doing something time-consuming, frustrating and slow because...I want to make the world a better place.

I'm going to do this:

1. From April 1st, I am relaunching as a freelance writer and editor.

This is the one that will (hopefully) help to pay the bills. I am a very good and experienced editor. I've worked on hollywood movies, I'm a member of the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders, I have clients who have been coming to me exclusively for more than 10 years.

Alongside bigger contract jobs, I am going to refocus on offering my services to small-press creators at a reduced rate. That means you, graphic novelists. That means you, itch and amazon writers. I want to help you develop your work, the same way I help large organisations. You can learn more about what an editor even does and what kind of pricing you can expect here.

2. I'm also going to start giving shit away. Like, constantly.

Next week I'm going to launch a new free shop. If you're unfamiliar, a free shop, giveaway shop, swap shop, etc. is an anarchist tradition of setting up a storefront where anyone can take what they like for no cost. Offline, this often means second-hand clothes, tools, furniture, food etc. Online, I am going to be giving away digital art. Copyright-free, no strings attached. It will (eventually) feature everything from print-res posters to zines, poems, tattoo flash, t-shirt designs and anything else we come up with.

Yes, I said 'we' - while this is a curated collection, it will feature work from a variety of credited and anonymous artists and activists, all of whom have agreed to give their work away to the public domain. Some of it will be practical, some of it will be political, but a lot of it will be decorative or personal. This is, in part, a response to recent difficulty I had finding somewhere that would print a one-off joke poster for a friend that featured the word 'faggot'. Enough. No middlemen - no explaining ourselves. Just print our shit and enjoy it.

I'm very, very excited about this project. I'll have more to say about it closer to the launch, but you can expect it to go live on March 27th.

2.2 I forgot to mention the ACTUAL LAUNCH GIVEAWAY

To celebrate my launch, I am going to be giving away a ton of physical prints. When I went looking for my old stock to see if it was worth setting a new (paid) storefront up, I realised I had way more old work in storage than I thought. This will be announced in its own right on Monday, but this is why I've been hinting you should go follow my Patreon.

On April 1st, I will pick 8 random patrons (from across all tiers including non-paying followers!) and mail them a bundle of assorted prints and postcards. The prize pool includes A3 and A4 posters, packs of A6 postcards, and printed minicomics that I've previously sold for up to £12 each.

Starting from March 29th, I will drop a new 18+ short story on the last Friday of every month, over on itch.io (yes I know my page is desolate right now, don't worry I'll get there).

The first edition, Go Fuck Yourself, is about, well - telling your boss where to stick it. Julia has had it with her millionaire man-child manager, and is just about ready to let him know what she really thinks. It's a short and steamy 5k words, with a gorgeous cover illustration by @taylor-titmouse, and you can pick it up for $3 starting from March 29th.

4. ANOTHER BIG SURPRISE

I'm keeping this one under wraps for now, but April 1st will also play host to one more (FREE) launch. If you've been following me for a long time, you might remember the other significance of this date (no not April Fool's day, though that is certainly thematically relevant to this entire effort). Lastly, April-Halloween AU is based on Himaruya’s joke tweet where he drew spooky designs for April Fools and greeted everyone Happy Halloween even though it was clearly April 1st. 🤣 You can see the tweet here!

AsaKiku fans (especially the JP ones) honed in on the bit that Arthur and Kiku were both ghosts/spirits that had mysterious letter-writing items with their sprite and it’s a known fact that a lot of their canon relationship during the alliance period revolved around exchanging letters… fans pretty much used this as a starting point and formed lore around it!

One I really enjoyed was a setting where Arthur is a ghost that collects lost letters from around the world and gives them to Kiku, a spirit who can ‘consume(?)’ the memories/emotions engraved into the letters and transcribes them into scrolls. They don’t have any memories from before they died but little by little they find traces of their old lives— This AU has a flavor of bittersweetness that I particularly like. 🥲💕

Lokean Holidays

With holiday season coming up across all cultures, I have decided to do a little something in honor of one of my own dedicated deities — Loki. Following the holiday theme (and looking forward to one of my favorite Loki festivals), today's post is all about Loki-specific holidays.

I will start off by saying that He does not have any known traditional holidays. We have no surviving evidence of any Loki-specific Holidays, and few evidence of Loki even being worshipped in ancient times.

So keep in mind these are all modern holidays that many lokeans (those who follow Loki) have adopted.

It's also important to note that not every lokean follows all, if any of these.

And lastly, I won't mention any of the usual norse pagan holidays, but you can definitely still honor Loki on those alongside other norse deities. It's just that they are not specific to him.

Loki Fool's Day

April 1st

This was probably one of the first lokean holidays created, in honor of Loki as a Trickster and deity of Mischief.

It was proposed by Dagulf Loptson in his book "Playing with Fire", but I believe many of Loki's followers already thought of Loki during April Fool's before that.

Lokabrenna

July – August (roughly)

The star Sirius was known to the norse people as Lokabrenna ("burning done by Loki", "Loki's torch"). The star would be gone for one half of the year, so when it reappeared at its highest point, that would be the date of Lokabrenna. Because of the connection to Loki's name, the day of Lokabrenna became a modern lokean holiday.

The date varies because it's connected to when the star Sirius shows up in the sky, so it depends on location.

In the southern hemisphere, Sirius can be seen throughout the year. In this case, Lokabrenna can be celebrated when it shows during both morning and evening, rising with the Sun.

You can adopt a date between the beginning of July to the end of August for convenience.

This holiday popped up in the community as an anti-bullying holiday. Basically, this happened because someone got mad at a lokean who got some store bought sponge cake as an offering to Loki and shamed them for it.

So this is a holiday to commemorate modern offerings and promote anti-bullying.

Loki's Holiday

December 13th

This holiday was proposed by Dagulf Loptson in his book "Playing with Fire".

This is because, on Dec 13th in Scandinavia, there is the feast of St. Lucia and the festival of light, which would symbolize the coming of light in the midst of darkness.

In his book Loptson states that he had asked Loki if there was a special day he could celebrate him, and the answer was Dec 13th, which he later learned was the day of St. Lucia.

So yes, this is the author's UPG, but it was widely adopted by the community.

In scandinavian countries the date also used to mark the Winter Solstice. As the longest night of the year, it was believed that all sorts of foul creatures would roam the earth, and the bringing of light could symbolize safety and the hope of warmer days to come.

While Loki and Lucia may not be directly related, they share a relation in the sense that they may come as "light bearers". Thus, many lokeans find it fitting to honor Loki on this day.

Ideas:

Celebrate the coming of light and Loki as a deity that brings fire, warmth and light

Give gingerbread treats, cakes, cookies, sweets, etc, as offerings

Celebrate with other Lokeans!

Loki and Sigyn — 4th Day of Yule

December 23th

There is actually very little information on this holiday and how it came to be, and not many lokeans celebrate it.

So you may take this with a grain of salt.

From what I could find this one is actually tied to celebrating the 4th day of Yule and it honors both Loki and Sigyn.

It is a day to celebrate love (especially queer love) and devotion, as Sigyn loved Loki unconditionally, despite everything that he did and that had happened to him.

Supposedly, it also coincides with Saturnalia (Roman holiday, Dec 17th-23th), a day where social order is turned upside down — which is very much a Loki thing to do, as demonstrated in Lokasenna.

That said, I personally don't think the correlation with Saturnalia fits most heathens' practice. But Sigyn and Loki's relationship is highly defined by Her actions after Lokasenna, so I can see how you could make a connection.

Ideas:

Celebrate love, queer love

Pour libations

Do healing work and cleansing rituals

Celebrate Loki and Sigyn's union

Sky:

Mami forever alone: A bit of a joke/observation in the fandom. The popular pairings are Madoka and Homura, and Sayaka and Kyoko, often leading to Mami being alone which sadly suits her character... This is jokingly noticed in fanart and manga with Mami often being left out. Sadly it's also led to some darker pairings for her such as Kyubey, Nagisa and even the witch kissed woman from episode 2.

Witches speak: Although witches are often silent or cry out like monsters. Two are known to have spoken. Elly speaks in reverse in episode 4 saying 'I really had fun today, I want to do it again. Next time, I'll bring a bentou'. Izabel also speaks in episode 10 to lure Homura into her labyrinth. However it is completely unconfirmed that the witches are actually speaking and it may even be their familiars. Mildly related, Oktavia's scream from episode 9 is actually a distorted scream from Sayaka.

Walpurgisnacht festival: Walpurgisnacht's name comes from the real world European festival of the same name, or Walpurgis night, that lands on the 30th of April or the 1st of May. Some people theorise that Walpurgisnacht actually arrives in Mitakihara on one of these days.

Walpurgisnacht rising: The sequel film to Rebellion announced on April 25th, 2021... very little was first shown and not a sausage has been revealed since... v-v

Madoka Magica Cafe: A temporary cafe set up around the release of the original anime in 2011. It offered special drinks and desserts as well as Madoka merch. It was extremely popular with waits of over 2 hours on opening day. A few more were held in Japan and Taipei.

Tip:

Magia Record Anime ver. Units: Very controversial variant units from the Magia Record game. These units were criticised as lazy copies of existing characters. With either very minor differences to talk sprites or none at all, ugly battle sprites and lazy transformation animations ripped straight from the anime. These units were not received well with one of the only good aspects being the beautiful card art.

Juubey: The Kyubey for the Pleides Saints in Kazumi Magica. Spoilers for the manga. He was an altered Kyubey that served the girls and purified their Soul Gems without need for Grief Seeds. After learning the truth about witches, the girls killed Kyubey and turned them into a Dependent-Version Incubator with the nickname Juubey and blocked out Kyubey's influence on the city. Yeah, it's complicated XD

Covid delivery girls: The dual unit Tsuruno Felicia Delivery Girls features face masks in their transformation and Magia sprite because the Covid pandemic was occuring when the unit was released.

Ebony: Ebony was the third Puella Historia unit released in Magia Record being a girl from ancient Egypt. She is heavily criticised in the western fandom for not only having a terribly revealing and historically inaccurate outfit but for also being white. However, like Cleopatra, she could be Greek therefore her skin tone would be correct. This however does not excuse her poor design overall On a similar note, how Cleopatra appears in Magia Record is incorrect as she is tanned in-game but has been confirmed by historians to have been white.

Cancelled figures: What is says on the tin! Merchandise that was cancelled including a scale figure of Nagisa and figures of Yachiyo and Tsuruno in their casual clothes and uniform respectively (possibly prize figures). Some that are in a terrible limbo include the 1/8 scale Holy Mami figure, Figuarts mini of Mami, Sayaka and Kyoko and a 1/7 scale figure of Madoka in the style of Aoki Ume's art.

Rebellion was just fanservice: My, my, a controversial one! Some people speculate that the sequel movie, Rebellion, was merely made for fanservice and money. This can be argued with the finite feeling to the anime's ending as well as the many tropes seen in the movie. It shows all the girls fighting happily together (a thing wanted by many fans), ties up loose ends with Sayaka and Kyoko and adds a fan favourite witch, Charlotte, into the main cast. I like to think this isn't the case but you can decide this yourself.

Masara Kokoro Bride ver. A recent variant for Masara and Kokoro where Masara is in a wedding dress and Kokoro is in a tuxedo. Their description is that they're modelling for wedding photos but the gay theming is too overpowering for it to be simply platonic. The less than subtle hints at romance between two girls is a change for the series that loves to be ambiguous. The unit was very well received.

Kyubey and Charlotte scooters: A unique piece of merchandise are scooters by Brain Police that feature decals of Kyubey and Charlotte. You can get yourself one for the low low price of 134,400 yen (£750). These are certainly unique, but quite a funny piece of merch

Lesbian Rika: Rika from Magia Record is the only magical girl canonically who has been in love with another girl (don't get the pitchforks, SPECIFICALLY confirmed). Her wish was for her childhood friend to fall in love with her instead of the boy she liked which does work yet Rika realises it doesn't feel right and breaks up with her.

Shallows:

Trans Ria: Ria is a magical girl from Magia Record, her wish was 'Turn me into a naturally beautiful girl'. This has led fans to believe that her wish was for her to transition from male to female. This can also be seen with her doppel Heide Jekyll that transforms from a dumpy blob in a rectangle to a feminine figure with a circle. Her witch's name also comes from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde which is not only a male character but they were also known for transforming into an alter ego or a different person.

Devil Homura in Magia Record: A total tease. Fans have been wanting Devil Homura as a unit in Magia Record since its very beginning however she still hasn't come. To add salt to the wound, the Magia Report version of her, Devil Homura-chan was added on April Fools 2022. It's speculated she may be released on Magia Day but she's still not here...

Alina Eve's name: Alina Eve is a witch fusion of Alina, her doppel and Shitori Egumo who debuted in episode 25 of the Magia Record anime. In the anime, her name appeared in Runes as 'Neo Dorothy Motherfucker'. This links to her use of curses and her doppel's name, Old Dorothy. However, when her profile was revealed on the official twitter she was named Alina Eve and in-game she is called Neo Dorothy. The reason for the change and discrepancy is unknown but it may be because they didn't want to use swear words in media outside the anime.

Swimsuit Madoka's transformation: An infamous one. When Madoka got her swimsuit unit her transformation was the first (and only so far) to use the live2D models instead of traditional animation. This was not well received and was a disappointment for one of the main character's units. The reason may have been time constraints but fans were not pleased.

Mami is Walpurgisnacht: Forgive me, it's a little clickbait-y..! The reason is..! Mami's voice actress, Kaori Mizuhashi also voiced Walpurgisnacht in the anime. She also voiced Tatsuya, Madoka's little brother.

Fetishes: Oh dear... we're getting here... Two magical girls have clear fetishes. Yukika gets pleasure from dangerous situations while Miyuri has a foot fetish that is probably played off for laughs... It is NOT okay to give child characters fetishes, okay? Fetishes are a sexual thing. Next.

Dub bloopers: Bloopers for the English dub of the anime were released at Otakon 2012 (can be found on Youtube). It certainly feels like 2010s humour but it's still a little funny. Also great if you wanna hear some of the girls swear.

Iroha x Yachiyo: Ugh. It is very clear from Magia Record media that Iroha and Yachiyo are played off very similarly to Madoka and Homura. While the pairing of Madoka and Homura is perfectly fine as they're both children, Iroha and Yachiyo are not. Yachiyo is an adult and Iroha is a child. The anime, merchandise, and the unit of them together rub salt into this wound as dual units are mostly seen as ship units by fans. It's disgusting and not okay.

Yuma's abuse: Yuma is an abuse victim in Oriko Magica. (cw description of child abuse) Her father is absent (either neglectful or has left) and her mother, Mako, would beat and burn her with cigarettes as well as kick her out of the house for long periods of time. Her parents are killed in the original manga and she is taken in by Kyoko because of her similarity to her late sister Momo. In Extra Story she never contracts and is living happily with her grandparents.

Deep Waters:

Gan: Ugh again. Gan is the artist behind Suzune Magica (probably the least liked spin off lol) who is infamous for their clear lack of restraint in making children sexualised. Arisa has an outfit with circles right where her nipples are, Chisato has an outfit with a strip of fabric for a skirt and she is canonically uncomfortable with it and they love giving older characters enormous (and unrealistic) breasts. The art they draw of their UNDERAGE characters is always sexual and borderline pornographic and. Not. Okay. (even told by Magireco staff to tone down their puella historia character, haha fuck you)

Takashi Tensugi The illustrator for Kazumi Magica. Their disgusting taste is evident in the character design for the protagonists as well as sexual and revealing shots in the manga but I've also heard that they've drawn hentai before. No I'm not going to fucking look for that thank you. But... another bad egg in the spin off manga series... Not okay

Masugitsune ANOTHER BAD EGG! One of the illustrators for Tart Magica and also the illustrator for Yukika (you can tell where this is going). Sexualises minors, just like every madoka spin-off artist seems to... Has drawn Yukika in revealing swimsuits and bunny costumes as well as the rest of the Tart cast. Remember, they're all children----! NOT OKAY!

Riz's former companions names Omg thank god we're past the nonce section... Riz had unnamed magical girl companions in Tart Magica that have been slowly named by their artist. Their names are... pretty shit honestly as they're just named after their weapons. They are Machete, Frusta and Falce with one being still unnamed.

Kuroe was a marketing stunt: Not confirmed of course but... Kuroe was introduced at the very beginning of the Magia Record anime with her being the only new character. She disappeared for the rest of the series until the very end with a very lacklustre and ineffective ending. One could imagine that her inclusion and focus was to grip watchers into continuing with an otherwise pretty underwhelming series. But... take it how you wish...

Livia's backstory: Hey, this isn't new! I hear you say! Well, it's not new, but it's changed! The original iceberg said that her backstory may have been linked to a miscarriage but NOPE its worse! She was actually almost a victim of organ trafficking when she was a child. And later in life, she watched one of her friends die on her wedding day as she was run over by a tractor that she caused to malfunction...

Himena and Hiko: Himena's wish was for her boyfriend to be with her within her. After... her boyfriend committed suicide yaaayyy! (sarcasm) The end of this iceberg isn't very nice, is it? Her boyfriend didn't want to come back and now he's stuck with her forever.

Well... that's it! Sorry it became a bit of a bummer at the end...

Today being a 'prank everyone mercilessly' day is silly and unnecessary! Goofy little things like the Boop thing are the ideal way to celebrate the day! I'll happily add to the pool of positivity, too: Your art and account were definitely a part of why I was able to overcome a lot of my body image issues. It was tough cuz I *love* how a larger figure looks, always have, but on my body personally it was a point of struggle. You and a few others I look up to really helped me come to not only be okay with it, but also kinda feel like it's actually appealing even on me - to the point I've worked on my first-ever non-slim iteration of my 'sona, and have been discovering through the process that I get happier and happier as I make it! So, it's been a long-time coming but I've owed you some big thanks for your part in helping me overcome that really tough hurdle with your art, mindset, the whole nine yards. This ask was an old one from 2022's Sweet on You/Love is in the Air Valentine's Day themed blog event! The idea was to send chocolates to your desired boy. I missed the chance to reply to this one for April Fools in 2023 so I figured I'd get it out in honor of this year's April 1st!

For people who are confused about this character 💀 There was a joke event called “Raven Redux”, which featured the reader (you!) being transported to a genderbent AU. A male Raven Crowley (my OC + blog’s mascot) then helps the reader find a way to their home universe. He ended up being uh... pretty popular?

Even if it's just for a little while... Let's return to that other world!

That was what the headmaster had told you when you came to him with your troubles. A gaping hole in your chest, a longing that had yet to be fulfilled. Crowley had looked at you with pity, warbling as he smoothed a hand over your head.

“Speak your most heartfelt dream, your wish, to the Mirror of Darkness, and it shall take you there… to him.”

Now here you stood before the portal between places… and worlds. You hugged a box of truffles to your chest and took a deep breath, squeezing your eyes shut. Your reflection rippled in the mirror—then wildly distorted once you plunged into it.

A sharp exhale as coldness enveloped you. All the air from your lungs expelled, as if you were screaming with all your might, even if no words ever left your lips.

Your feet met solid ground.

You slowly opened your eyes.

The attic.

You were in Raven’s attic, her nest, her humble abode. A place built of papers and ink, tomes and tales. But was it the right Raven?

You steadily approached the feathered figure seated behind the writing desk. Each step as quiet as a mouse. No matter the Raven, you didn’t wish to disturb their creative process.

A cap of midnight fell over his haughty face. Dark blue makeup colored closed lids, decorative dots lining his lower lashes. And there, dangling from his pointed right ear, was a golden feather earring.

He seemed set deep in thought, taking no heed of you. Willowy limbs splayed out, his vest generously opened to display the rise and fall of his chest. Dreaming, perhaps.

It was as though he was a sleeping prince encased in glass coffin. Awaiting his special someone to sweep him off his feet.

It’s him.

You cleared your throat—rousing him from his rest. He bolted upward, swiveling in your direction. His eyes were wide with alarm.

“Raven-kun!! Hi, hello!!” you called out with a bashful wave. “Fancy seeing you here.”

“You’re…!” He stopped himself, reining in his shock and replacing it with what he hoped was casual coldness. “What are you doing here, worm?!”

You giggled nervously. “I wished really hard to meet you again and I think my wish has been granted! I don’t know if you even remember little ol’ me but I remember you.”

“… By the Seven, you’re absolutely hopeless,” Raven muttered.

He drew himself up from his seat. You yelped, taking a step back. It had been too long; you’d forgotten just how tall he was compared to your typical Raven.

“My memory isn’t that bad,” he scoffed. “How could I forget the fool who dared to tread in my territory and then groveled at my feet for assistance? In any case, it looks as though you’ll be needing it a second time.

“Wishing to see me again like this, reliving that old story… You must be truly desperate, hmm?”

Ah, yes. There it was—his silver tongue, sharpened for use as a bladed weapon. A dishonest defense.

Your chest fluttered.

“I missed you more than I care to admit,” you confessed, cheeks warming, “and, well, I made these truffles thinking of you but not knowing if I could ever deliver them.”

You held out the box of truffles to him.

“So, um… h-here.”

“This is…” Raven hesitated. “A heart-shaped box secured with a sparkling ribbon, with chocolates inside… It’s the sort of thing gifted to long-held crushes and lovers. You… You’re not being serious, are you?”

But you nodded, refuting him.

“I’m totally serious about you, Raven-kun,” you declared, your voice trembling. “B-Be mine?”

Surprise flickered through his face. Subtle, fleeting. His arrogance then returned, an attempt to cover the moment of weakness.

“Hoh? What’s this? Seems you grew a spine since last we met.” Wearing a smirk, Raven plucked the truffles up. “It would be rude of me to refuse your offering after you’ve pleaded for my affection and traveled all this way.”

“Y-You accept them? My feelings…”

“I didn’t say that.” He waggled a finger. The truffles, shoved inside of a drawer like some treasure stowed away for safekeeping. “Sweets and sentiments are two entirely different matters. I’m afraid that a bird is never to be tied down—the sky always calls to it.”

“Oh.” You deflated, lowering your gaze to the ink-stained floor. “Th-That’s okay, I shouldn’t have assumed…”

"Don’t make that sorry expression,” Raven sighed, frowning. "Sadness is unbecoming. No one wears it well."

I despise seeing on you. Because of me, you're making such a face... and I cannot even bring myself to properly apologize.

His chest ached.

“Look at me. Hate me,” he had once written--the tale of his isolating curse. “It is a better fate than languishing in history and being forgotten altogether.”

Suddenly, the short distance between the two of you seemed like oceans apart.

He could reach out, offer his hand. He could blurt out all that was running through his mind.

I was so lonely ever since you left. Let's make up that lost time. Tell me about yourself, about your world. How have you been? Do you still care for me, despite going through all my vitriol?

But he couldn't. No, he shouldn't.

Raven sucked in a breath through his teeth. Dancing with danger, tempting fate. He would dare, this one time.

“... Come here.”

"What?"

"I said, come here," he repeated, a little louder. His arms were out, hesitantly spread just wide enough for you to slip in. Raven, embarrassed, hastily glanced away from you.

“I failed to prepare a gift to return the favor—of course, you can’t really blame me, can you? Your appearance was unannounced. Accept this in its place… one moment of respite in my arms."

“R-Really?!”

“Hurry up before I change my mind.”

You didn’t need to be told twice.

It was strange, shuffling into the folds of his arms. You had never been this close to him before—body and body, soul to soul. He smelled of pages and chilled rain, the darkness and the stars between it.

Raven was a painting come to life, speckled with intricate details you could only glean from up close. The curious twinkle in his eyes, the way his long, dark lashes flutter like wings, the pout to his mouth. From far away, he presented cool, untouchable.

Now…

He was strangely gentle. Almost vulnerable.

A bird crafted of glass, set to shatter by your hand.

“… Stop staring,” Raven grumbled. “I’ve told you before, haven’t I? It’s terribly rude. Not an ounce of good manners in you, is there?”

“Haha… No, I guess not,” you replied softly—noncommittal as you nestled snuggly into him.

“Hmph. Getting comfortable so soon?”

“Yup. Your feathers are fluffy and warm.”

A scoff. “… For what it’s worth, we can stay like this for as long as you like. Be thankful for my magnanimity.”

You smiled, and it set his pulse drumming. A new idea, born.

“I am.”

My friend EC, the project head for the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack, has released a video answering the frequently asked questions about the project after we released the trailer a few days ago. A transcript of this video will be underneath the cut for those who need it, followed by some additional commentary from me.

The Phantom of Sunny Day Jack Something's Wrong with Sunny Day Jack Fangame Belated April Fool Project

Q: Was this all just an April Fool’s Day prank/joke?

A: Yes, the director came up with the idea and thought it’d be fun to do a mock trailer “as a joke”, but the effort that went into making the trailer was no joke. A lot of people put their time and effort into this to create something sizable and satisfying, even if “fake”.

Q: Is this going to be a real game someday in the future?

A: Perhaps, but it’s unthinkable to create something before the actual Sunny Day Jack game itself is even finished. When it is finally released, maybe then we can talk about making this into a visual novel project.

(No promises though!)

Q: If this was for April Fools, why is it being released now, a whole month later?

A: The short answer is, despite starting a few months in advance, the scope of the project extended past our initial expectations and we were unable to, even with multiple people putting in work, produce the finished product by the April 1st deadline.

Despite this, we had already planned the “reveal” part of the trailer and had assets, in addition to wanting to keep the original spirit of what started the project, so we shot to release it as soon as we could.

Q: If that’s the case, why hype it up so much and make us feel like this would be a real game?

A: With the official game still far off from release, the complete lack of budget or funding [all of this way paid for out of pocket on top of the large amount of work put in by everyone involved], we didn’t assume people would think it was seriously possible for us to produce a full visual novel game.

The impossibility of that task was very clear to us, but we neglected to consider how clear that was to the audience. A lot of work was put into the concept, the character and costume design, the CGs, the voice acting… all of that is very real, and we considered that to be a rewarding experience, even if for a “fake” game.

Q: I'm upset that this is a prank when we were made to think it would be real. Do you have anything to say to those with grievances?

A: All we can say is that we apologize for anyone genuinely hurt by the prank. It was not anyone on the team's intention to be hurtful, and everything was said and done in good fun.

All we can be is sorry, if any of the wording or the prank itself made anyone feel foolish or hurt. We wanted to make something fun and keep the original idea for the video to be an April Fool's Day project, even if it was going to be late. We hope you're still able to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Q: Will we still be able to learn more about this AU, see the content produced for it, etc.?

A: Even if the game is [currently] not in development, the progress and planning for this mock trailer were very real. We plan to release a concept art book for The Phantom of SDJ! So, you can look forward to seeing how this project began, the timeline of how we developed the concept and design, and the struggles we faced during production.

Q: What will the concept book of Phantom of the Sunny Day Jack contain?

A: It’s going to have looks at story planning, unused lines from our lovely scriptwriter Yuki, masquerade costume design planning from our awesome designer Lonsii, fake mini-game scenes planned out by the team, CG sketches and concepts from myself, unused costume and CG ideas, the production timeline, the struggles we faced during this whole process, and some silly doodles our team made during this project and many more.

We put a lot of love, time, and effort into making this project and would be elated to share the inner workings of it with you all, especially for those who might benefit from seeing the methods we employed, for their own projects!

Merch is also being planned, though it’ll be some time before any is available.

This artbook, sadly, can’t be shared for free due to the amount of work put into it.

The concept book will have both a digital and physical copy, with the physical copy being more expensive to help cover printing and shipping expenses. Physical copies may also come with physical goodies as well!

Though it’s all still in the planning stages, please look forward to this art and concept book!

Additional Comments From the Project Script Writer

Now that everything is out in the open, I can finally talk about the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack without restriction.

The first thing I want to say is that I'm truly sorry to everyone who felt genuinely upset by the reveal that the project was a mock trailer instead of a fan game. After reading all of the comments that I received in the immediate aftermath, I realize now how some of the wording might have come across as mean spirited, rather than playfully teasing.

While I might not be in charge of the project, I was brought on to write the script, which makes it my responsibility. I apologize if any part of the skit came across as mocking or cruel. It wasn't our intention to set that sort of tone. While this video was an April Fool's prank, we never intended to make anyone feel upset or hurt. The intention of the skit at the end was to laugh with everyone, not at them. That's why Barry roasts the team and the video as a whole at the end.

Everyone on the team loves this fandom and everyone in it. The last thing we wanted was to make anyone feel bad. We wanted to make a fun experience that everyone could enjoy. That's why we worked so hard to make this video the best that it could be.

I realize too that a part of the problem was all the hype going into the release, and I played a large part in that. I gushed about it on discord to my friends on various servers, and in a number of posts on my socials. I was so excited to be a part of this project, coming up with ideas, having my lines read by the voice actors, and hearing them read along with the beautiful visuals. It was so much fun working with the team and watching the work come together in such a fantastic video. I was excited and wanted to share that excitement as much as the NDA would permit me.

While I was always careful to call this a project and nothing else, I never corrected those who assumed that this was a real game being developed. I might not have lied directly, but it was still a lie of omission. I allowed people to draw their own conclusions and misled them in the process, and unfortunately that wound up unintentionally tainting the experience for a number of people.

I am sincerely sorry to anyone who was hurt and/or upset by this belated April Fool's prank. I am sorry if I let you down. I will try to do better in the future.

The Phantom of Sunny Day Jack might not be a game (at least not in the foreseeable future) but it is an AU. There is lore to it. The teaser post I made about my headcanons was just a small sample of the lore that I developed over the course of the project. I did research about the various iterations of the Phantom of the Opera, as well as aspects of 19th century Paris, and considered how to blend those elements into the lore and spirit of Something's Wrong with Sunny Day Jack.

Eventually, I plan on making posts about the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack headcanons that I built when making this project in greater detail. I also started writing a short story for the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack. While I won't write a series like Sunshine in Hell, I've already started indulging with my OTP in this alternate universe too, so expect flashfics in the future.

I'll try to have the transcript for the faux trailer soon for those who need it. Please do forgive me for not having it ready when the video dropped.

Unfortunately, it might take me a while to gather the energy to make these posts. I humbly ask that you please be patient with me.

If a real game does come about for the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack, the story will probably be different than my personal headcanons and lore, since a collaborative project means that others will contribute to the lore as well, changing things and expanding the world in ways that I never thought of. I might have been the lead writer, but I wasn't the only one contributing to the story after all.

While the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack is (currently) not a real fangame for Something's Wrong with Sunny Day Jack, it is a labor of love that we spent months working on. This trailer is a love letter dedicated to everyone in this wonderful and wholesome community that we've built around this sweet primary colored yandere clown. We love you all!

Didn't Wanna Feel Older in 2024? TOO LATE!

So long, 2023! You have been a weird-@$$ year to say the least. Between by having to repair old thumb drives, purchase a new printer, finding out I'm susceptible to anxiety attacks, trying out dating for the first time, getting my Discord and Steam account hacked, starting a new Discord server since said account was never unhacked, opened myself up to commissions, managed to post art for Halloween, got Covid, summoned more Kaijus to play an elaborate game of poker, and had a merry enough Christmas. Here's hoping 2024 will prove better. At the moment I have no new goals, since I just want to relax after four months of constantly being active. There's a mile of books, movies, and TV shows I need to get caught up on! My opinions on all of them will be given in future Giraffe's Eye Views, but for now let's get to what you all came here for: yet another unnecessarily long list of things celebrating major milestones this year!

You all loved it when I did this last year. In fact it got more attention that anything else I posted, including the original art I put way more effort and time into. Nah, that didn't sting at all. Seeing my sketches get ignored is so much fun. Passive-aggressive joking aside, I do still love making these lists, so let's get started with some major stuff this year.

Thanksgiving wasn't too long ago, so why not mention that the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade turns 100 this year? I know, that's insane! Watching this festive event has become a seasonal staple in my house and is the only reason I've ever signed up for Peacock. Thank goodness in all those years it hasn't been smashed by a giant monster.

Godzilla turns 70 freak'n years old this year! How crazy insane is that? Here's hoping his old age won't slow him down when he teams up with King Kong this April. Even if it does, Gojira will continue being cinema's coolest character!

Contrasting with the King of the Monsters, Mary Poppins turns 60 years old this year. This movie, considered to be Walt's last masterpiece, has aged considerably well even after all this time.

oh yeah, now that it's closed, here's the post i wanted to make about that rt rebrand poll i made last week. this will be pretty long and kinda rambly, so feel free to just blacklist the "long post" tag :)

so like, i made the poll because of 2 main reasons: 1. because of a mix of comments i saw on other sites from people who also didn't know what color it was supposed to be, and 2. because of myself confidently believing it was some shade of orange until i switched from looking at it from my laptop screen to my phone screen.

it being a godawful shade of red/red-orange was mentioned in the article itself, which is why my question was phrased "what color do you guys think it is?" since either red or orange is both technically correct. going more into the specifics of the poll numbers:

tumblr doesn't show the specific number of people who voted for any given poll option by default, just the percentage, so i went digging and followed this tutorial to get the raw data using firefox's inspect tool. the final results are, with 934 votes total, red at 551 votes (59%), orange at 303 votes (~32.4%), and other/a secret third thing at 80 votes (~8.6%).

red winning wasn't a surprise, really, but i was pleasantly surprised at how many people didn't have a definite answer or switched between answers like i did. i can't exactly pin down why that is, but if i had to wager some guesses...

the color scheme has a high chance of being a callback to rooster teeth's Popular Web Series Red Versus Blue™:

and with a want/need for rt to rebrand, the idea of keeping the color scheme while also making it modern and pop out is really cool, but its execution is uh...

i couldn't fit everyone's tags, but you get the gist. it fucking sucks, man.

as @god-of-arts-and-crafts has pointed out:

orange and blue are complementary colors, with them being opposite each other on a color wheel except the people who made the rebrand chose a deeper shade of blue??? they couldn't even get that right, oh my fucking god, so while its technical color is red-orange, it can be overwhelmingly orange when paired with a similarly bright shade of blue, which is what's causing many people eyestrain. hell, the first time i looked at the picture when the news dropped, it literally gave me a headache lol

finally, as i've said in the tags of a different post about this eyesore, this is an accessibility nightmare. with the worst color combination possible, the colors used for the new font and logo are definitely not ada-compliant. there are free sites out there to test images for general accessibility issues. contrastchecker is what i use sometimes, and below is what i got using red-orange as the background and blue as the foreground, and vice versa:

the americans with disabilities act recommends that the contrast ratio be 7 at the lowest, but should ideally be higher than that, if possible. this is objectively and subjectively a very bad corporate rebrand, and i really, really want rt to break their "no jokes on april 1st because that's our anniversary" rule this year. if for nothing else, then just so that people who haven't read the variety article and/or the reactions on social media aren't jumpscared once the new intros/endcards/whatever else start rolling in.

Seems like Buddy himself's been the victim of a prank today. He was so mad about it, he murdered the prankster.

The good thing about April Fool's day is that you can say anything you honestly believe no matter how unpopular an opinion it is, and just pretend it was a prank the following day.

Even if you admit beforehand that's what you're doing, you can just say admitting it was part of the joke.

Or, you can use that preface to make it look like what follows, a piece of comedy, is what you actually believe.

So, let's see what's a hot take…

I've been reading about the action boom of the eighties and nineties lately, back when Arnold Shwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone would rack up hundreds of kills under two hours. I've seen some of those movies. Some were good, some not so much. Remember when Rambo befriended those afghani freedom fighters? The Mujahideen? Yeah, that ended well.

But for a lot of cultural critics back then, they represented the end of the world. Even though some of the greatest movies of all time came out during that era, there were some reviewers lamenting the death of movies as an artform. And the one thing they would latch on was, the movies were so underwritten, the starts couldn't even speak english.

They were talking, of course, of Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Stallone himself was lumped in with those foreigners, but he had some laurels under his belt in the form of a few Oscar nominations, so most of the focus fell on the foreigners.

And that's the thing, really - it's not that those actors were stupid, exactly. They just had heavy accents. And, you know, a different cultural background that was dismissed as a lack of acting talent. So from the get-go, a lot of those movies were being dismissed thanks to xenophobia.

Sure, they were european, instead of coming from the "darker" continents of Africa, Asia and South America. But it's not like any big stars from those continents were offered as a contrast for the hammy musclemen of the eighties. The best you could find is the martial arts stars from Taiwan, and those movies weren't exactly high art either.

If you ignore the accent issue (and the difficulty that comes from acting in a different country), that trio wasn't exactly stupid. Schwarzenegger might not be a pleasant person, but he was pretty smart as a businessman and politician. He managed to build a good acting career and avoid a lot of acting pitfalls through business savy. He knew how to make money in Hollywood, even if it meant sacrificing his own dignity and suffering bad reviews. He was even aware of his shortcomings as an actor, which is he he kept choosing the action and comedy fare that paid the bills.

Van Damme, meanwhile, wasn't as clever, but had a lot more emotional intelligence. His french films, which aren't burdened by the abismal accent and acting, are more enjoyable and mature, and even show some introspection you'd never imagine from a martial artist.

Lundgren, meanwhile, wasn't as big a star as the others, but is a better fit for the clichè of genius strongman - Good grades, scholarship, a masters in chemical engineering… It's funny that if Lundgren had played a scientist in a movie back then, it'd be dismissed as a ridiculous thing (unless the critic was aware of his story) - a monosyllabic musclehead like that a scientist? Nonsense.

Of course, nowadays, these celebrities are all decadent half-forgotten gloryhogs. And those action movies of the eighties are just a piece of nostalgia, now. They only survive as inspiration for videogames (where the violence is more interesting because the player's the one in control, and there's actually a difficulty curve to consider), or as aspects of more nuanced stories.

The idea that movies were "dying" back in the eighties sounds like nonsense now. The indie boom that followed paved way to some amazing movies. And to this day, a lot of the best stuff coming out is informed by the movie culture of the eighties. Meanwhile, all the cultural critics who spelled doom for the movies have been forgotten, mixed up with the ones who worried about satanic cults and the gay revolution.

I'm not a huge cinema buff, and I won't pretend to know a lot about cinema, but I still get annoyed when people complain about the death of the movies. Maybe the issue is, you're the one getting old, Buddy.

For a girl who wanted for nothing, she sure did want her father. A Nigerian diplomat who never stayed around for too long, Alisa Vinogradova assured her daughter that it wasn't that big of a deal. It was from a young age that Adaeze, called Ada by family, realized that things would go into two boxes: a big fucking deal or nothing to bat an eyelash at. At least, in her family. Alisa assured her that anything she wanted as a child she could get -- their cup runneth over literally being the daughter of a marriage between the heiress of a global wine fortune and a tech mogul. Her mother was one of their many children with too easy going of a personality to do anything more ambitious than eat, pray & love. There was always a trip afoot in the Vinogradova household making an otherwise sheltered Ada extremely aware of the world around her. It may have been through a lense that was majorly lavish but it meant that her perspective was a little broader compared to her preppy classmates.

Plus, when Ada started school -- her name was obviously different. It was a name both of her parents had agreed on and decided, it was easy enough for others to pronounce yet they still liked to butcher it. By middle school, various nicknames popped up and though Ada was an extremely popular one -- A.D. is what she preferred if the person wasn't going to call her Adaeze. While she loved her name, A.D. had always been very blunt and easily annoyed with people's ignorances. At fancy dinners & galas, she wouldn't be the most sociable if she wasn't feeling it and in school she picked and chose how and when she would participate. English, history, ANY art classes? They loved her. Math and science? They were annoyed she didn't apply herself. But what could Adaeze do? At the end of the day, she was her mother's daughter more than she ever was her fathers.

Where Ada did soften though was Starlight Oaks. Her grandparents would spend substantial time on their property on the cove and while her mother was untethered to her childhood home often going on trips and staying months in various countries, Ada had a room decorated at their house and went to a Private primary school until she was accepted into an Liberal Arts Boarding school in 7th grade. Was A.D. particularly driven to make her name in the arts as her calling? Not really. Did she have a valuable perspective to show that demanded self-expression? Not to her. But she had always excelled in every art class or hobby that had been thrown at her. Whether it was music, fine arts, visual arts -- she could dabble. When visiting the multitude of cousins she had, they'd always joke that they knew Ada was in town because there'd always be pictures of various art museums shared at family gatherings.

For a short time her father, Chidi, attempted to be in her life properly. For a semester, she was a dayboarder -- her mother even attempted to stay in one place for 6 months. Her room was barely decorated when it all fell apart and though A.D.'s grades had never been better -- something within her started to turn sour. Once inquisitive, she became sarcastic and combative. Her curiosity had an edge of judgement, once more introverted, she started to engage with the world as if it were her punching bag, her stomping ground, her personal oyster. She was known in school, for better or for worse.

If she could have anything she wanted --- why not her father's presence ? His love? His attention? No matter what she did -- his calls never came at the right time. They'd exchange messages about music, he'd send her records that he'd find on his travels. But it wasn't enough. Though so many of her friends families operated similarly, A.D. would prod and question the few friends she had with normal familial situations. Conclusion? It was possible, to have a father stick around, even if not for her. At the end of the day, she didn't feel like she was asking for much. Alisa may have been a jetsetter not bound by location alone but she would drop it all at the drop of a hat for her daughter if she asked. After graduation, A.D. never had to work but she did stay in school -- going to Parson's getting a dual degree (Design & Tech + Visual Studies). While New York was a fun playground, she spent her time doing exactly what her mother did after graduation -- traveling. Spending time with various family members, acquaintances, former peers and even a few high-profile names -- A.D. got to live a life.

When Chidi reached out to Adaeze wanting to have a relationship with her -- she jumped at the chance. There may have been years of resentment, anger, sadness and anguish even that had colored the last few decades but deep down she hadn't wanted for anything but this. At first, the idea of living with her grandparents seemed idyllic until being in a large house by herself seemed excessive. Though she loathed to admit it, it also seemed lonely. Never had she lived so alone in so much space, it's why she loved boarding school, why she lived in bigger bustling cities, why she stayed in school so long despite not having a real career path. While Starlight Oaks had been an idllyic place for her to live before, it had changed since the last time she had had roots there. Moving back to be closer to her family had been nice at first -- until her father claimed he forgot that he had even made the call to her. Not realizing what was going on, A.D. was angry, keeping distance between him and her even though they were in the same small town.

A.D. got her first 'real' job -- working at Galaxy Gardens dispensary. At first, she was only a Budtender and delivery driver but as she found a sort of novelty in the job she started to really dedicate her time to it. She was one of the few Budtenders that knew all the regulars as she had stuck around long enough to know the O.G.s --coworkers who had been there since day one. While at first got severely made fun of by her coworkers for not knowing how to do basic life things like taxes or how to properly clean a glass display container, she became one of the best coworkers to have, earning their respect. Eventually, she got promoted from Budtender to Shift Lead, then to Assistant Manager and in September-- Manager. Something she is proud of, an accomplishment she knows she has earned herself. Everything was 'normal' for a little while until it was revealed that her father was sick -- diagnosed with dementia. It was the reason he had reached out to her with no recollection of the conversations they had had about her relocating, but had had whole other families. A wound that A.D. had felt she would be able to heal had reopened, this time deeper and more painful than she had ever anticipated. HEADCANONS:

Runs that Dispensary like the Navy (Taylor’s Version). Her grandparents told her they’d like actually both support her / let her stay in their beach house but she’d have to get an actual job. Now, did they want her to work as a legal drug dealer? not really. her mother is over the moon and think it's hilarious, often defending her kid because they literally are a wino family. A.D. also kinda was like...well...i'm 27 and have NEVER had a job...embarazzzing....

Originally a bud tender then working her way to be manager. She’s kinda the best manager you could have and really makes sure to take care of her employees because she does realize she has a lot of privilege in how much she’s never had to worry about money but her coworkers/peers/etc MANY have had to so she picks up the slack. She'll feed them often, spoil them with employee samples, work shifts for them if she can/is able. If Lorelai Gilmore ran a dispensary tbh! gets a kick out of fighting upper management

No one else can afford proper car insurance and such so she ends up doing deliveries for customers atp and while she used to love driving around town doing it, she's just kinda tired of it LMAOOOO

A Belated Notice Regarding  “In the Middle”

To anyone hoping I was going to come out with an Epilogue for “In the Middle”, that was always my intention. However, (two years later), it sits as a draft and I have made several attempts to finish it since, but keep wishing I had done the main story differently. So, that is what I plan to do; I’ll leave the Original up for anyone but am planning on completely redoing it and maybe even dipping into other fandoms as well. Thank you so much for being on this journey with me, I appreciate every like, reblog, follow or even just a simple read.

A Simple Epilogue

George is depressed for awhile and attempts to shut everyone out, including you. Eventually (on his own time), he comes to you for assistance. It takes about a month before you move back to your flat above the Joke Shop. But you’re not alone. Lee Jordan and Percy help out in the beginning and Verity comes back to work. George attempts to dye his hair a different color but does a poor job (you make fun of him and call him a spotted frog, which makes him laugh a bit) and says he only sees Fred in the mirror. So, you also make a joke that Fred had two ears and George only has one (which also makes him laugh), but he’s struggling. Especially once April 1st rolls around the next year, because he’s never been older than Fred and now for the first time, he is. So, you comfort him. Eventually, you get a letter from Hogwarts asking you to apply for a teaching position (which you get, but I never decided which position maybe Defense Against the Dark Arts or Transfiguration) and that is enough instinctive for you and George to move to Hogsmeade and buy Zonko’s joke shop so that you can easily get to work and George doesn’t have to continue living a door down from Fred’s bedroom. On that note, Ron and Hermione move into your flat above the Joke Shop since Ron wanted to assist George.

After you move and start your position (which you crush by the way because you’re Y/N and you’re awesome), you and George maybe consider the possibility of finally getting married, but how’re you supposed to get married without Fred cheering you on. So, you don’t for awhile. You actually have your first baby first, which you name Fred to honor his Uncle. And you do get married after that, I would say maybe after Harry and Ginny AND Ron and Hermione. But you do, and then you welcome your second child (who you get to decide the name of). All your nieces and nephews love you at Hogwarts (Fred and baby #2 do too, but they’ll never admit it). And life is good, for the first time since the war, you feel content. Of course, you and George miss Fred and you always will, but he would want you to keep living and would be so proud of the family you’ve created.

Captain Price (Dating) Headcanons!

This man is not a romantic. At all. He never considered himself to be a romantic and doesn't like cheesy romantic cliches....but he has this feeling of always trying to impress and one-up everyone else and reassure himself that he's better than anyone else who wants to date you. Don't get us wrong, he does love you a lot...it's just that due to the nature of his work skewing his standards of what's "normal", it's a bit difficult sometimes to date him.

He knows about love, how MacMillan has different wives, who always seem to be younger and more buxom than the previous one. He thinks of love as some kind of complex dynamic between two people, with unspoken etiquette and rules that he doesn't know of. Too busy with his work to ever even fathom settling down one day and marrying someone he loves...he just can't see it in his future. "Love" is just something you can use against another, (like holding someone's wife and kid as a bargaining chip) and "Marriage" was just having eye candy on your arm and make other people jealous. He has a very grey moral compass and his ethics are very unclear and vague.

Then you come in.

You don't blow him away right from the start, but you do pique his interest. You're new, fresh faced, and proficient in many skills. He gets to know more about you, and he's taken aback by how accomplished you are, and he respects your capability and acknowledges your usefulness during missions.

But there's something he can't just point out--why does he feel some kind of need to impress you? Why does he want to make you smile? Somehow he feels lighter and almost giddy when he makes a joke and you laugh--and at night, he stays awake staring at the ceiling, reminiscing about your melodious voice. Unexpectedly, he starts to look forward to meeting you every day, and he feels as if he could listen to you talk for hours on end, or just watch you do your thing and feel satisfied and content. He doesn't know why he feels these things however--he thinks that maybe it's just because he appreciates you and the work you do is useful and makes things easier when he's deployed. He brushes off his newfound feelings, thinking that sooner or later they'll just fizzle out and he can go back to working like normal.

The only catch was that it didn't fizzle out. The more time he spends with you, the more this fire inside of him crackles and burns more fervently, and it's inextinguishable. He realizes then, that he likes you, but he's adamant on saying that yes, I do like them, but it doesn't matter.

Finally he loses too much sleep over this, pondering how your hands fit into his calloused palms so well, and how he wants to hold you and rock you back and forth as you slow dance to romantic French songs, that his younger sister, Jenny, (Squadron Leader Jennifer "Broke" Price of No 9 (B) Squadron, RAF) had to hammer it in his head with a power drill that "you're in LOVE, johnny" and he regrets ever going to his younger sister for "Relationship Advice" because now even his older sister, (Major Jasmine Price) is heavily berating him about it. "This is having a significant impact on your effectiveness in the field, Johnathan. If you don't do something about this, I'm going to have to write you up and give you a mandatory leave till you sort yourself out."

He cannot go on Mandatory leave. He just can't. He'll die. So he takes a deep breath, memorizes the list of things he has to keep in mind during a "date" (or whatever Jenny called it) and approaches you.

"I really enjoy your company. If you're free, would you like to have dinner with me at 7PM tonight?"

You're surprised. Is Captain Price asking you out on a fucking date? You accept, but you're left reeling, shocked as ever, as he just says "Alright, thank you," and then leaves. He's fist pumping the entire way to his office.

You go out on a date in a nice restaurant in Hereford, as you're stationed there for the meantime. He knows this place like the back of his hand, and you both are chaperoned in a sleek black Mercedes-Benz 600 Grosser with bulletproof window panels towards the venue of your date. (He borrowed the car from Jasmine, and the random valet has a tuxedo.)

Bullied in grade school, high school, not college. He enlisted into the army when he found out being built like a mountain also meant that it was harder to knock you down. In combat, I mean. But it's easier to knock him down mentally..

Good morning Alex, and it is April the 1st, 2023. Wish you got this day, you definitely would have had a better idea. Being the dummy that I am, the only thing I can provide today is… a compilation of big franchises pulling pranks. Sorry.

Minecraft

Minecraft is an ever expanding game, unlike most games, which release, get a few DLC, maybe a few patches if the game is too buggy. So what do they do with this power? That’s right, release a joke update every April Fool’s. There have been some truly hilarious updates that came out of this. My favourite is the 2020 one, where they made an infinity update, where you could explore an infinite number of procedurally generated dimensions. There’s also the 2015 Love and Hugs update, where, there’s a love meter, you can spread love to other mobs, a minesweeper retexture, and much more. I don’t think you need to own it to play the April Fool’s update.

This year apparently, all they did was set the launcher on fire :P. No big deal, they are probably busy with the actual update they're gonna release soon, but still, a bit of a disappointment considering what came before.

Unite The Trunks

DC made an announcement on 2018, that they were giving every superhero their trunks back, whether they had trunks at some point in their long existence or not.

This is just hilarious, especially on Cyborg, he’s mostly computer lmao. Sidenote here, as someone who googles literally everything that pops into their mind, I found out why superheroes wore their underwear on the outside. Superhero costumes at the very beginning were inspired by circus costumes, who also wore unitards, or whatever they’re called, I’m terrible at fashion. So. male circus performers wore two pairs of underwear, for reasons you can imagine, so comic artists also inherited that. This is why Batman and Superman wore them, but not GL and The Flash, since they were the first ever superheroes.

Alright, short post today, these were the funniest I could find, and I’m too lazy to look for more. No idea if you’re gonna get the post I promised, . Also, regarding my game, I’m still juggling ideas, so there’s nothing much to report. I’m definitely gonna make a dev log, and it’ll probably have supernatural abilities, because nothing compares to the experience in Batman: Arkham and Control, although, I don’t know if that will be possible, since that would require 3D, it’s possible in 2D but nowhere near as fun. I have no art skills nor 3D modelling skills, so pixel art is probably easiest, but you know, it’s a little dated, and it’s hard to innovate in 2D, you know about my obsession with innovation (That sounds like a cool motto for a tech company), so yeah, I haven’t even decided on the genre. Company mottos are so dumb, like Nvidia’s “The Way It’s Meant To Be Played” like no Nvidia, your crappy software is not the way I’d like to play. Okay, I’ll stop, see you on Saturday >:)
