What if I made an impromptu drive several hours north of me to see if I can spot the aurorae predicted for tonight

We've been seeing a lot of Silver in Blue/Pink lately, right? Unlike Green, which is his dorm color, they seem to like making Silver wear blue/pink now, I wonder if they consider this Silver's main color or something.

"A lot"?? I don’t know if I’d use that phrasing myself. Two outfits (pajamas and the Groovy + alt look for Dawn Armor) hardly counts as a large number.

His only other pink and blue outfit is Rabbit Costume, which was released a few years ago. I wouldn’t call it exclusive to Silver, either. Pink and blue was also the color palette for Epel’s Rabbit Costume.

Silver is a character that is associated with shifting colors, aurors, or pink and blue.

His eyes are described as being an "auroral hue". Additionally, his biological parents left behind a gemstone with similar properties. To Silver, Lilia says, "May my child's eyes remain as clear as these jewels and never cloud with sadness. I've no doubt your parents left you that ring to symbolize their hopes for your future."

We see a pink and blue bird flying with Silver in his Birthday Bloom Groovy, albeit Silver is not wearing these colors, nor is anything shifting here.

In his Labwear Groovy, Silver is waiting for his wake-up potion to shift from pink/purple to green. Again though, he is not wearing anything that changes color.

However, this kind of thing isn't unique to Silver. The concept is definitely most frequent with Silver, but the others in Diasomnia make reference to these pink/blue or general changing colors. For example, in Lilia's Suitor Suit vignettes, Malleus is trying to determine the color for a conjured suit. Sebek suggests navy, but Silver thinks red would better suit Lilia.

Likewise, in book 7, Malleus and Lilia (this time playfully) argue about whether pink or blue better suits Silver's cape. This is what is depicted in Silver's Dawn Armor Groovy.

In Sebek's Platinum Jacket vignettes, Sebek discusses going to spectate a contest with his older siblings. The goal is to use magic to dye a dress to match a chosen color. Sebek even specifically mentions the dresses turning into "vivid blues and pinks".

The shoes in Lilia's Birthday Jacket design also reference pink/blue. One sneaker is pink, and the other is blue.

So really, I feel this can all be attributed to Diasomnia’s general Sleeping Beauty roots. Silver gets it the strongest of all because he is the character most closely associated with and/or twisted from Princess Aurora, the princess whose dress is turned pink to blue and back multiple times. It stems from a famous scene and running joke where two of her fairy guardians argue over what color to make her dress, each using their magic wand to “make it pink” or “make it blue”.

Season 2 Predictions: Niko, Charles & Monty in the Neitherlands ; Niko & Charles' Parents

Aurora Borealis is often associated with folklore about spirits travelling the sky.

In the Toby Litt/Mark Buckingham comics, the Neitherlands are a place between life and death, shown with bird bone snow (I have a theory we will see Monty bump into Niko again in season 2 in the Neitherlands like when they first met).

There's no Niko in the comics, but the combination of Hana & Rosa proxy over to Niko in the show.

Charles saves Rosa from the Neitherlands in the comics.

Charles and Niko are both shown foreshadowed with the bear, probably an allusion to Nanuk.

I also have a theory that one of Charles' parents will die in season 2 and he'll see them there, like Niko will see her dad

Update 2: George Rexstrew Cameo reading the last two stanzas of "Sack of the Gods" by Rudyard Kipling (the last stanza of which was read in episode 1 of season 1). He did this cameo on the last day, before people could ask followup questions (and later in the week when he would have had time to get permission from higher-ups to drop hints?)

More fall/winter domestic Ghoul thoughts because my brain won’t stop:

Aether being the first to take care of anyone when they get the flu because they trust him the most.

Mountain making his nest comfortable enough for all his mates needs incase they want to join him while he hibernates.

Dew pulling them to himself once they get back to the abbey either after outside duties or being in town and cranking up his element so he can warm them up.

Rain making sure they’re all wearing their jackets and coats before they head out and buttoning them for those who need help.

Ifirit lighting the large fireplace in the Ghouls den and gathering everyone from the pile being especially careful with Zephyr when helping them in.

Aurora making everyone coffee,tea or hot chocolate depending on their preference and always making sure she’s mindful of everyone’s dietary needs and allergies.

Weirdly it was easy to draw the left side of Kendal's hair but not the right, and easy to draw the right side of Vash's hair but not the left.

I feel so dumb right now. I always got so confused when they said that Silver had “auroral” eyes because like, they look like a blueish-pinkish-purplish color and the aurora (borealis) is usually seen as green and purple (which is funny because that’s the colors associated with diasomnia and maleficent). And then I find out that aurora literally means “the dawn”…which they even say in the animated movie and it just never clicked.

Silver with his DAWN colored eyes from his father, the knight of DAWN, who originally came from the land of DAWNing. I wouldn’t be suprised if Silver’s birth name was literally just dawn.

I always thought the “aurora” of his eyes referred to the colors of them shifting like an aurora borealis… since the blue/pink/purple seems to be due to the lighting reflecting off the irises. (And, on a meta level, "aurora" probably refers to Princess Aurora/Sleeping Beauty, who seems to be a strong inspiration for Silver.) Guess you really do learn something new every day though! dbjsvsjwkwklw The Sleeping Beauty movie put me to sleep so I never would have known aurora = dawn is lore dropped in the film.

Normally I would lift my finger and wag it while saying, “But Dawn is a girl’s name” 😭 however, we got multiple guy characters with feminine-sounding names (Leona, Jade, Lilia, etc.) in Twst so… yeah, I don’t think my argument would hold water.

This does bring up a good point though! I wonder if we’ll ever learn Silver’s birth name?? 🤔 I’d laugh a little if it was something that on the nose, especially considering that Lilia would later give him another on the nose name (Silver, for his new hair color).
