This quote was one of the many that greatly impacted my life. This was shared to me by one of my accidental mentors, Jeremiah. Back then, he pushed me to take on a global multi-million dollar, multi-site impacting project. I don't know what he saw in me but he did and he did not stop until I agreed to do the gig.

With him, it's okay to make mistakes. Fail fast, learn fast. He said, it's okay to take risks and fail, if that mean you learn something. He also made me realize that we can try to plan ahead and be detail oriented as much as we can, but it is also important to know that some things are just beyond our control.

Sa mundong ito, ang dami dami daming may sasabihin tungkol sa'yo - sa timbang mo, sa trabaho mo, sa lifestyle mo, sa mga desisyon mo sa buhay. They have a lot to say about how to do your fitness, your career, your relationships and your goals better. Let them say it then still decide to do what's best for you. Medyo mindset ko din ito kapag ang daming may hanash dati sa trabaho ko, simple lang sakin, "eh di ikaw gumawa?" Of course, I take criticisms, but the rest na noise lang, I filter them out. Same with fitness, na ang daming comment na kesyo tigilan pagbubuhat, magdiet nalang etc. "Ikaw ba yun araw-araw nakilos para magpapawis?"

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena. Glory and honor comes to those who work for it, day in and day out.

LIGHT 13 (LIttle thouGHT)

How many times have you felt your heart was ripped into several pieces and you feel like the unluckiest person on the earth? From a thousand episodes passed, what were the worth lessons that you learned? Have you ever realized why it happened at times you might own a choice to not to have the same story? Why in the end we always met this part–having disappointment in a person–even with our loved one?

It’s because we tied ourselves to them in a name we label as expectation. 

When we are attached to a person, sometimes our souls are automatically shared to this person while at the same time we become dependent on this soul. The bitter truth is, whoever this person might be–relatives, friends, lovers–are only a creature. All these creatures are meant to be gone one day either will be taken by its creator, Allah, or they choose to leave. Therefore, if our happiness depends on their presence, once they are no longer here, you’ll be disappointed. You may feel that you are broken. You may feel that you are left behind. It is because theoretically, we are that weak. When we let some of our parts be gone with the weak one, then we’ll hurt.

But if you alter it into the other perspective, you depend on the Creator of all lives, it will be significantly different. You have chosen the right path because Allah will never leave you. No matter how heavy the situation is and how bad your condition is. Then, if you are holding your hand to trust Allah then you are not going to be–ever–disappointed. 

On the other hand, when you depend on Allah, you’ll pack whatever you wish in a du’a. Because you know that none of this world could help you, but Allah. You’ll see whatever the answer towards your du'a is the best thing Allah has designed for you to accept it today. Not too soon, not too late. Not too much, not too little. The less you expect from a human, the more ease you will receive.

Then, be wiser in creating expectations.

Sometimes I get pissed off at all my exes. Cause no matter if I was the one to break up from them or not, they kinda inadvertently dragged me back to this BS being single phase, lol.

I just want to be a domesticated cat, I don’t like jumping onto the next cat every other day, but it feels like this is the only way these days for you to be able to find your next mistake.

Go on meaningless dates, have meaningless sex, repeat. Fucking exhausting.

This disillusion and impersonality; this shallow sea also creates a distorted image of people who are nice to you. You feel guilt, you feel in debt, you empathize, you ‘give’. You give time, you give attention, you give understanding, you give space, you give support. You give everything you actually need and want. Even if the giving was for an instance, or a day, or week or two…

I was mostly a skeptical person. Still, when I was young, I used to believe some people were just genuienly nice, but learned by experience that this isn’t always the case. Just remembering that again in my single phase; some people do that to manipulate you into thinking that you are in debt of matching their steps forward, luring you into what they think is the best shape for your mutual situation. You can’t see the next step because you are trying to match the other player and the game is not an open one, one step you take further might be too much, or too little, you feel clueless and eventually either stop thinking about it altogether and leave it be, or leave the situation and start again the next morning with a new one.

I didn’t mind this hassle when I was younger cause hey, I was working right? Now though, it’s a pain in the ass to know there’s no other way to pass through these cycles and different bodies to be able to settle down again. Sigh… I just feel so tired.

Resiko Anak Rantau (1)

Beberapa hari lalu dapat kabar kalau mertua teman deket berpulang, padahal setau aku suaminya pun kondisinya sedang kurang sehat. Waktu dengar berita itu langsung pikiran kemana-mana. Kayak, Ya Allah gimana rasanya dapet kabar duka gitu ketika sedang sakit dan lagi ribuan mil jauhnya dari rumah? Beli tiket pesawat kalau udah mepet harus siap sekitar 2500 Gbp atau 50 juta buat PP. Itupun perjalanannya 24 jam lebih. Bener-bener ngga kebayang dan cuma bisa doain yang terbaik buat keluarga mereka.

Besoknya pun, saat berkunjung ke rumahnya sempet bingung harus gimana menghiburnya. Pada akhirnya topik tersebut pun terangkat juga, dan justru aku yang merasa dapat pelajaran dari obrolan sore itu. Singkat cerita, almarhum memang sudah sakit dan sempat dirawat sebelumnya. Temanku dan suaminya tampaknya sudah sadar akan kemungkinan ini dari awal berangkat. "Ya mau gimana lagi ya, emang itu salah satu resikonya," begitu kurang lebih katanya. Wajahnya pun menyiratkan keikhlasan.

Aku ingat, dulu sempat dengar kekhawatiran ini dari teman yang sedang kerja di LN. Alhamdulillah, atas karunia Allah, kedua orang tua kami dalam kondisi sehat saat kami berangkat, kekhawatiran tersebut pun agak terlupakan oleh kami. Tapi dengan berita ini, kami kembali diingatkan. Diingatkan untuk selalu berdoa atas kesehatan orang tua, that sometimes we take for granted. Untuk selalu berdoa agar orang tua selalu dilindungi, agar Allah menjaga mereka saat kita tidak bisa menjaganya dari dekat. Dan rasanya tanpa sadar hati ini berdoa agar bisa menemani orang tua di ujung usianya nanti, atau kalau sedang jauhpun semoga bisa dicukupkan dan dimudahkan untuk bisa pulang. Aamiiin.
