DPXDC Prompt #58
Gotham is a city with a lot of ambient ectoplasm, enough that the Fentons move here instead of Amity Park. Danny being a pretty smart kid being the son of 2 scientists gets a scholarship to Gotham academy where he makes friends with Tim and Damian. Well the 2 were only doing it at first because they wanted to keep an eye on them scientists rarely didn’t become rouges in Batman’s gallery so can you really blame them for being cautious?
Danny is telling them about the portal that they were trying to build and how it wasn’t working and how Danny felt guilty about it. The 3 venture down there when the parents are gone and Danny wearing his hazmat goes into the portal while the other 2 watch on. Danny trips and no one’s having a good time.
They decided to take Danny to Wayne manor until they can figure out what exactly happened to him, unfortunately Danny’s new powers act up and he winds up phasing through the floor into the basement… or more accurately the Bat cave.

I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.

Fell asleep last night thinking about an au where Norman recovers from being the Green Goblin, but he ended up doing some really creepy stuff beforehand including attacking Peter as he was Peter Parker and not Spidey and then keeping him locked up for several days (Peter ends up with a few scars from it)
Norman avoids any jail time because he’s rich and revealed somewhat of the truth, that a medicine he was working on for himself had terrible side effects, no one knows about him being the Goblin, they only know about him attacking Peter
Peter is able to successfully get a restraining order against him tho, but Norman’s a jackass who keeps hanging out on the fringe of the distance he’s supposed to be at and speaking/yelling at Peter, stuff like “when you finally forgive me and drop this restraining order, I’ll be here with open arms,” and “Uncle Ben wouldn’t want you to hold this hate in your heart” and because of the previous mentioned richness, Peter can’t do anything unless Norman steps too closely
And tbh Peter mostly got the restraining order because he was worried it would look suspicious if “Peter Parker” didn’t seem too badly affected by things, since he was used to being attacked by Norman as Spiderman
But now that he’s keeping Norman away, even if he still hangs around, and he has visible scars from it that everyone can see, and everyone knows about the court case and what happened and keep asking him if he’s okay, he’s…starting to acknowledge that it all was traumatizing, not just the kidnapping event but the whole thing with the Green Goblin, that he was just pretending it wasn’t because he’s a hero, and people seeing how badly it’s been affecting him is actually healing in a way

weird question but it came up in conversation recently and now i’m curious: if you had repressed memories, what was it like to have them resurface?
personally, i don’t think my life was better living in “ignorant bliss,” but i can’t rly say i’m glad i remembered either. i wonder how other ppl feel abt this kind of thing. i’ve been living w the UNrepressed memories for the amount of time i had forgotten now, so ig i’m just thinking abt it more w my bday coming up. wow that’s crazy, i’ll have remembered for longer than i forgot

Alright, I think we’ve all seen the Leo and karai parallels which are definitely evident, but I don’t see enough, or any for that matter, Raph and Saki parallels.
A fierce protector of the Hamato clan, a leader and family member (or even father figure since so many people think Raph stepped up often to parent the others) who encounters the krang, is taken over by their power and twisted into a monster that harms their family? Specifically Karai? Karai who is a parallel to Leo??
I’ve seen so many people point out the way that Leo is held by Shredder is very similar to the way krangified Raph holds him when he tries to kill him but they never make the full connection. Interestingly they attempt to kill him the exact same way, claws and everything. Raph saves Leo both times, once from Shredder and then from himself.
(Not so) Fun fact! Shredder holds Karai the same way as he kills her.
How about the fact that even as Shredder kills her, Karai manages to reach out and find saki- even if just for a moment she pulls him out of his prison, just like Leo does for Raph.
The only difference is Leo succeeds in bringing Raph all the way back while Karai dies trying since both her and Saki have been weakened from their time in the twilight realm.
Both Raph and Saki were fully conscious under the krangs control and had to watch as they attempted to kill their family. Saki had to witness his daughter be killed by his own hands.
The Shredder is what Raph would’ve become if Leo hadn’t been able to reach him in time, or if Raph hadn’t found enough strength to break free.
Anyways have a nice day/night 😁👍

this is a pointless complaint so feel free to scroll past but like. why are kid fics so popular? I know I’m in the minority here because they’re so popular, and I have in fact enjoyed a few over the years, but I just. don’t get it. a lot of characters I love don’t feel like people who’d want kids, for one reason or another, and yeah okay personal headcanon/projecting I’m aware, but still. also there’s so often a storyline revolving around one of the characters being scared to have children, feeling like they won’t be a good parent, and it’s always resolved by their partner telling them that’s ridiculous of course they’ll be a good parent! like why can’t that be a valid reason for not wanting kids? even fics where the characters break up because of disagreements over this wind up with them getting back together and the person who didn’t want kids realizes that, oh, never mind, they wanted kids all along actually, they just didn’t think they were worthy of being a parent. and obviously in real life they are plenty of people with trauma who do feel they won’t be good parents but want kids anyway and I’m very happy they can see similar cathartic plot lines in fics. but just once I’d really enjoy a character actually committing to not wanting kids and not having them. biological, adopted, coming in as a step parent. kids aren’t for them. and that’s fine! either their partner accepts it or they don’t, but their stance doesn’t change because it’s not like not wanting kids makes them a horrible person

Hi, Coal! This is anonymous from the Whumpuary question
There's no need to respond to this, lol-
I really just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to respond to my previous question :))
(I enjoyed reading the dragged out version of your response, lol- better for my brain to process and take in for sum reason)
I'm good with whatever decision you make. I was honestly just curious because I do enjoy your stories and writing style, so there's that-
(#love Noah)
And, I get where you're coming from with writing series and all, so like- yeah
Regardless of your decision, as long as you don't stress yourself out about it, I'll be fine with whatever
So, uh, yeah- thanks for responding and– take care :)
I am so bad with responses but I wanted to say something just to lyk that I appreciate that you read the long response and then also took the time to reply. That sounds so stiff and insincere written out like this, but I promise it’s not lmao
You as well! Happy new year!

i think The al Ghul Siblings like dancing. they had a fucked up childhood and now they just like jamming. it’s fun because they’re seemingly very dignified and weird and then they just start going nuts when given music. i have no basis for this, it just makes me happy.

No but like every time I think about Splinter and what he had to go through just to keep the boys alive, my heart hurts for him so badly. Is he perfect? No not at all, but none of them are and by god does he love his sons.
The fact that all of them are alive, and grew to thrive despite the circumstances surrounding them is a testament of how much Splinter loves his boys. He raised four babies following the most traumatic time of his life, all alone with nothing but the sewers to house them (to hide them.) I feel like he’s not given the credit he deserves for all he’s done.
And I get that it’s easy to hold up his flaws and faults when it comes to parenting, I myself like looking into them because flawed characters are super interesting and said flaws make them more realistic and engaging, but he tries, and again, so many others would have given up on the boys or failed along the way but Splinter didn’t.
He’s their father, for all his faults he did his damndest to make sure they survived.

Well, I’m still glad that Gojo was always a character who was growing and learning at least. He’s literally one of my favorite characters of all time now. Like, he’s never been as perfect as how the fans would make him out to be despite canonically being viewed as an absolute nuisance to everyone around him (I don’t think his peers necessarily hate him but a lot of them probably hate to see him coming and the ones who’ve dealt with him long enough to consider him a friend, tolerate him and groan whenever he opens his mouth, too 😭… out of love. He’s extremely childish so there is only sm the other adults around him can take and to an extent, his students. I think the only characters in canon who adore him and their eye’s sparkle whenever he’s around, and being a silly teacher was Yuuji and Miwa (she asked him for his autograph (he’s the most famous sorcerer in the jjk world) and when she was alone, she did a little dance in the empty hallway 🥺…) from what we’ve seen even though the others still care about him, too. They just find him rather annoying, which he most definitely is. And he does it on purpose. He plays too much.)

So much juicy drama in the cr discourse tag lol. So if you think it’d be more interesting for the gods to die you must be A) religiously traumatized or B) dumb and think BH and Luddy are sexy and therefore should be in charge.
OR. Hot take. We don’t know what will happen when/if predathos gets released. Full stop. We have no idea what it even is. So all of everything is just a guess. SOOO it’s fine to think hey maybe it’ll be interesting. It’s a fictional world, let’s add some drama and maybe a second calamity and shake it up a bit. Just to see what happens.
Stories are meant to be interesting. Pls be more okay with bad things happening and have some faith in the story teller ya?

We remember how much his ‘look at what they’re doing, what they’re asking you to do,’ monologue slapped, but what Deacon doesn’t get enough credit for is that he’s right about every single faction when he cautions you too.
