The name of the AU, referring to everything that's a part of it (characters, worldbuilding, headcanons, etc.) This would be what I'd call the series on AO3, where I would put oneshots as well as the main stories.

Take a Good Look, This is Me

Follows Aria and her friends as they inevitably get dragged into the problems of the main cast. Specifically, Ral joins John's self-defense class. Aria hears about his skills through them; she ends up asking him to analyze her ability, and they build a friendship from there.

Vi also meets Isen... somehow. Possibly online, with neither of them realizing they go to the same school. I just really want the rat bastard and the anarchist hacker to become friends, okay?

Way Past Saving

This one is more plot-heavy, compared to TGLTM. Or, well, it starts out that way, but TGLTM catches up eventually. Jude is trying to track down the other branches of the family, hoping to get a better picture of his history. First he goes to Cameron, who is extremely unhelpful. Then he uncovers something about Jane. Finally, a lead! The more he follows the trail, the more danger he's in—but then, he's no stranger to being hunted.

Since his goal involves NXGen, and by extension EMBER and our vigilante friends, he would most definitely come into contact with some of the main unO characters.

Unnamed third fic

As you can tell, this one isn't nearly as fleshed out as the other two. I know it would essentially "merge" WPS and TGLTM; both of those fics are set at roughly the same time, and eventually, their storylines would end up colliding. Especially with the direction that unOrdinary is taking at the moment. :)

unordinary ramble

ok so i recently got back into unordinary and i'm just a tad bit fixated on it, aka i reread all of the episodes within 3 days

first of all WHY ARE THERE BARELY ANY FICS IM GOING MENTAL

second of all i only have two coins on webtoon. i can't wait six days i'm gonna get withdrawal

onto the actual unordinary part

so in that one episode there's like the papers with remi, blyke and isen's info and stuff and there's like spots for relatives and we learn that blyke has three unnamed relatives and i believe isen has four and i AM SO CURIOUS ABOUT THAT

i know we probably won't see them anytime soon but how come we get remi and sera's siblings but not the others :( i know leilah and rei both have major importance but i think it'd be cool if we had some silly younger sibling mentions here and there

also i am OBSESSED w/ isen. like back when i first started reading i was too but i just love him sm i dont know what it is i just need more isen content so badly

ALSO IN EPISODE 39, it's said like sera meets w one of her father's business partners for an intership at NXGEN

Thinking about how in unordinary John’s power isnt imitation its aura manipulation, he just only uses it to read abilities and manipulate them. But when Arlo Sera Isen (and Blyke? Idk) we’re discussing Terrence being a secret high-tier, they said high tier abilities can extend their powers to others (eg Elaine healing others, Arlo using barriers on others) so does that mean that John could manipulate other people’s auras, and therefore abilities? Could he give others multiple abilities? Could he take away their abilities? Or perhaps dampen and amplify them?

We’ve seen John’s mother, Jane, once, in a Nxgen facility. We know that they are involved with abilities, and we know that she will have John’s ability, or something very similar. It is likely that they are using her ability to develop the ability amplifiers, dampeners, blockers, and also likely giving the Ember members each the signature fire claw ability, so that they dont need to use their own and risk getting caught (eg Arlo’s aunt who has a variation of the barrier ability).

Which makes me wonder, what would’ve happened if Sera had qualified for that apprenticeship at nxgen around chapter 45-50, how closely related are they to spectre, and what are spectre going to do with John now that he isn’t going on a rampage but is instead doing just about everything he can to get involved with their business, and in the most recent episodes is giving them an incredible example of just how powerful his ability is, right in front of that blue haired guy who seems to be working with spectre alongside Terrence.

━ ❝ Analyzing unOrdinary Episodes

Episode 256

So, this episode was filled with a lot of important information. First, I wanted to start with this:

Now, something that may catch peoples eye first is the fact that Jane (someone almost everyone theorizes as John's mother) in on this. We can even see her name is said on the file name, patient_jane

So, it is confirmed that Jane is being used or researched for her ability, but the question now is: why and how did the authorities take her for these tests? Is there something special or different from Jane's ability bloodline?

NXGen was a government funded research place for abilities, and since John's ability is ability based, and Jane could be the only way John got an ability like his, that could mean that Jane's ability has something very big to do with abilities.

As well, if John is able to amp abilities he copies, this probably means Jane can as well, most likely even stronger than John can. Since Ember and the NXGen are part of the same people (the authorities), this can most likely mean that the amps we've seen Volcan give people (specifically low-tiers) are a part of Jane's research and experimentation.

We can also see here that the file name says Project E, Phase 2, Conversion Technology. This could all mean that the conversion tech that this is could be apart of a bigger research project or mission. Now, onto the bigger questions, what is conversion technology?

Something that popped out to me is where it says "in order to control ability variables and create for reliable task forces." Does this mean that more task forces like Ember will be made using this technology. Conversion tech will give people the ability to change their own power to something more desired, for example, if Volcan were to change her barrier to fire claws.

Also, "to control ability variables", does this mean that NXGen wants to modify and make their own abilities? Perhaps this is following a dystopian route, and the authorities are planning to make everybody's ability but the own weaker, so society is more easily controlled.

Now, let's move onto the bigger parts of this research. So, first of all, only high-tiers are able to use this conversion tech. I wonder if the conversion tech has some sort of negative side-effects, like making the ability the user is taking more weak. I also wonder if dampeners have side-effects as well, such as weakening a person's ability.

It's obvious Spectre knows more than they should. At first, after Kayden revealed to Arlo and Seraphina that Ember was connected to the authorities, I thought Spectre was connected to the authorities in some way as well.

But after seeing how Spectre is breaking into a government funded research program, I have different thoughts about this. One of my main questions is Spectre's relationship with the Authorities. How is a shadow organization able to null the abilities of high-rankers (especially one very powerful one), and get away with it? I understand that the authorities are neglecting Seraphina because she read the banned book, Unordinary, but wouldn't the thought of another organization coming as far as taking others abilities seem threatening to the authorities?

Perhaps Spectre wants this research and sample because they've already mastered stealing others abilities, so converting them to other people would be easier? This may mean that Spectre would use Seraphina's ability on another person, and may dispose of Sera when she's seen as not useful anymore for her ability.

Let's also see how "flame claw" is one of the abilities that have been successful with conversions, but lighting has been one of the abilities that hasn't been successful.

I think that Ember isn't really just a task force led to kill vigilantes that disrupt the hierarchy and cause chaos to the authorities, but also a task force to take subjects and test on them for ability conversions. This may be why it seems Rei was killed, because he was a high-tier with a very skillful ability. It may mean, though, that Rei is alive, and his body being shown to Remi was just a duplicate or fake.

This really makes me wonder how the authorities got a hold on Jane, despite her being so strong. I also assume "channel master" is a stronger form of aura manipulation.

I think the most confusing thing is why Jane's location is restricted. That private investigator was able to find Jane and even take a few photos for William at the season 2 part 1 finale. Also, maybe Jane is able to notify parts of abilities she copies, (e.g she can increase strength, or speed, or trick)?

In the end, a very informative episode.

ok so i saw this theory somewhere else and it kinda makes sense, but what if EMBER is using john's mom to make the ability amps.

think about it like eri from bnha, but they're amping other abilities since john can actually amplify abilities when he copies them.

i'm thinking she was captured a little after she gave birth to john so john never met her and doesn't know much about her. my only question is that they should be aware that john is her son, right?? so maybe EMBER is keeping tabs on john and we just don't know it.

lastly, NXGen is probably working with EMBER and the authorities. maybe NXGen is a coverup for EMBER, like ZetaSci was for Spectre.

John - Unordinary

okay, so John is the main protagonist of the webtoon. I have so much to talk about that I don't even know where to begin.

first of, he was a cripple. and this led to his ill-treatment back at his middle school in New Bostin. the mental and physical strain that it could have caused him is unprecedented.

then he gained his powers. the very nature of his power is ironic. he is finally capable of destroying the people who hurt him with their own powers. the way he got these powers remain unknown. I don't know if he is a late bloomer or if his powers developed because of the research and experiment by the NXGEN. I have read some theories saying that John's mother could possibly be the woman Remi, Isen and Blyke fought.

when John received his powers Claire had foreseen it. she befriended him only to manipulate and to bring him down. although we do not know alot about Claire except from the flashbacks John had, we do know that she was pivotal in that day that lead to his expulsion. however John is an unreliable narrator. his perception of what happened might not have been the actual events.

the gap year he had taken to correct himself was very questionable. the way they handled John's case did not help him deal with the trauma or make it easier to understand his powers. he got his powers later and so he does not see the world like other high tiers. the correction only suppressed him and made him afraid of his powers.

then we reach Wellston. here the events seem different. John decides to live as a cripple however events repeat themselves and his true powers are still revealed.

I know that 'the John can do no wrong' perception is widely common. he is flawed. incredibly flawed. the tragic events he had experienced have made him the way he is. but they are excuses. no matter what anyone has faced there is no excuse for being a bad person. however I can't help but want to see him succeed. I want to see him finally happy and at peace.

sidenote: i also really appreciate how uru-chan made John the most ordinary person in the world. he has the most generic name - John Doe- with the most ordinary hair colour when everyone else looks like they've spawned from a rainbow.
