qFit: Mans is built like a brick shithouse—he can totally balance Phil’s additional weight. The first attempt is a bit shaky, sure, but nowadays Phil swoops down or hops up onto Fit’s shoulder and all Fit really has to do is jut out his elbow to give his friend a little more space for his talons to work with. Bam, he’s perched. Works out about 9.9 times out of 10, though Phil delights in trying to catch him off guard.

qEtoiles: He doesn’t have Fit’s bulk on his side, so he’s not as sturdy, but he is strong. The landing is usually a little rough since Etoiles has to work a bit harder to counterbalance the additional weight, but he always finds that center of gravity in no time flat. Phil usually perches with one talon on each of Etoiles’ shoulders since he’s not as w i d e, just so Phil can have a little extra grip. At some point, Etoiles tries fighting a mob while Phil is perched on him, and that goes exactly as well as you would expect.

qForever: Honestly, with all of the hard labor Forever does for his big builds, Phil was expecting him to do better, but the first (several) attempts end up with Forever stumbling over and knocking Phil off of him from his wild arm-pinwheeling. They eventually figure out it’s more doable if Forever himself has something to lean on (a wall, a chair, the butt of his pickaxe) and Phil puts one talon evenly spaced on each shoulder. Phil learns some new swears in Portuguese in the process.

qMissa: Flattened. Full-on face in the floor, mouth full of grass, wind knocked out of his lungs at Mach 5 the first time Phil tries. Phil apologizes profusely, but Missa—once he can breathe again—just rolls over onto his back and asks Phil if they can give it another try. It takes a long, LONG time, but they figure out that if Phil plants his talons on Missa’s shoulder pads and leans forward while Missa leans back, they have a small little window of time where they achieve balance. The best part? Phil gets a perfect view of Missa’s goofy little grin every single time.

You can try and tell me people are inherently bad but I will never believe it, not for a second. Not when the only reason any of us are here is because we've shared resources, information, stories and small joys, and terrible heartbreaks, and hope.

Because all of this- from the first loaf of bread to the phones and internet we are collectively reading this on is only standing because we stood together.

so many people seem to be convinced that relationships are determined by outside factors rather than by the people in the relationship. "If you do xyz then your relationship is romantic", "if you don't do xyz your relationship is friendship" like I'm sorry that society convinced you that you have no say in what shapes a relationship but you can actually do whatever you and the people in your life agree upon. Be free.

No but I hate so much the fact that the amatonormative relationship hierarchy is so strong that romantic relationships are always referred to as More Than Friends™

If two friends seem to be forming a romantic relationship, it can't just be that the relationship is shifting into something a bit different, it is strictly More, and it's especially more not only compared to what the people involved had before, but it's also more than any other platonic relationship they hold. Other friends are expected to "know their place" in the relationship hierarchy despite sharing many more years of a connection with the people involved, because if the romantic relationship is More, then their platonic bond is Less, and it's just how it "should be" and if people get sad that their friend is isolating to their romantic partner only, restricted to only doing what they want to do, stopping speaking to them if their partner chooses so, leaving them behind all of a sudden because they are strictly Less Important, then they are actually ridiculous and should control their emotions because "of course you're less than their new partner"

And this then also translates to people not breaking off toxic, unhealthy or just simply incompatible due to life circumstances romantic relationships because then "they'll lose their partner". Because they already became More, so if they break it off, they'll become Less again and that's scary, and it can never be the same, because it's not just a simple shift where in many cases things don't even change that much, no, if they shift again they're essentially "breaking something sacred", something coveted, they're destroying the whole bond in every which way by Becoming Less. Not even getting into how society expects people to hate their ex-partners, or at the very least be very awkward about them, so people at large really cannot fathom the fact that maybe the change of relationship title was mostly just that and didn't change the dynamic so drastically that changing it back to "just" friends also wouldn't shake the foundations of the interpersonal bond at all. No, if they shake things up, they'll irrevocably lose their partner, they can never talk the same again, they can't share a laugh, they can't coexist as they did because now they're Less

And how this also impacts how people from outside claim to know more about the nature of a relationship than the people in it. Because "You're acting like More", "You can't really think that you're Just friends", "Look at them, 'Just Friends' don't do that, what they have is Deeper, it's More" or on the other side "You don't act like More, how can you say that you're partners? That's not a Real Relationship"

This devalues all types of relationships. People aren't allowed to put the title they want on it themselves. If you want something that's not either like a QPR you're breaking every rule and "actually it's Just a Friendship" or "actually you're just scared to call it romantic because you gave commitment issues but it is". And the people who buy into the More and Deeper can get so wrapped up in that ONE bond being More Than Any Other, that if it breaks, they've isolated themselves into it and pushed their friends away for so long that not it actually became the One Bond they had left

One of my favorite things I learned through relationship anarchy and polyamory is having the breakup conversation before breaking up.

Meaning you and your partner, while things are good and stable, talk about how you would like things to go if one of you decides they want to move on. Do you want to continue being friends? What will that look like? Are you going to remain housemates? What boundaries will need to be put in place? Are you willing to do the work to continue a non romantic relationship with them?

Also bring up how you want to be treated during a breakup and how you want to treat them. Sometimes when things get heated it's helpful to remind your partner "hey we agreed we wouldn't do this. Let's take some space and come back to this part of the conversation later."

This can be applied to any relationship style, romantic or not. Having a breakup plan can make things go a lot smoother and even save friendships.

i hc isen to be bi with no preference

i also am in between on him being amab or afab. i see him using they/he either way tho

he's a demiboy

he's vv closeted

but remi knows

he has a (younger) twin sister and another younger (half) sister

he's found himself being in charge a lot & messing up at home, which is why he's so against taking big responsibilities (like when he becomes jack)

they have severe anxiety

and also undiagnosed adhd

he's good at keeping secrets but if anyone were to simply ask them about one he'd be like really bad at deflecting it

he had a really good relationship with his father until it was noticed that younger half sister was a product of an affair so then his parents got divorced and isen lost contact

his stepdad is nice but isen doesn't find themselves to be as close to him as their siblings are and it makes him a lil upset

he's still really family oriented even though he kind of resents his mom for the whole affair

they work a job as a janitor at night so his siblings can have some spare money

his mom is chronically ill

oh oh and his twin sister goes to a school outside of wellston because she's rlly smart

isen's not vv open about his family, he'll only mention them if remi says something about rei first or if blyke talks about his mom

i love blysen sm but i do think isen would've had a crush on remi before

speaking of how i love blysen – he's had a crush on blyke for a really long time but hasn't realized it's a crush

isen & his twin went on this hair dye adventure once hence the hair

i saw someone say he tried to bleach his hair and it came out orange and i firmly agree

the more I get involved in community activism, the more I’m realizing that being aromantic is not going to sentence me to loneliness.

when I’m surrounded by hundreds of people wearing keffiyehs just like me, I’m not alone. When I’m giving a speech in front of a crowd of people who are waving Palestinian flags, I’m not alone. When I’m texting my Palestine gc giving them tips to stay safe at a national march, I’m not alone. when i am completely by myself, I am still not alone because I have community and solidarity.

queerness challenges the idea that traditional family and romance are the only ways for connection. last year, I was surrounded by friends dating and forgetting me once they started dating, and I was miserable because I thought I’d always be alone. Now I realize I never was

I started thinking too hard about @grapedemon‘s human vs robot Mind poll so y’all get the ramblings that resulted

I lean more human wanting to be a machine overall, although I think both fit whether that is physical or metaphorically.

To me, they are all human. I LOVE seeing more creature-like designs, and my friends probably know how much I enjoy adding more animalistic and/or celestial pieces to my humanoid character designs. But I have always tried to keep my interpretation of canon HMS mostly human. One of the many things that are very important to me about the story of CCCC is just it’s pure visceral, painful, messy, sacred experience of being human.

I like to think Mind is human. He has mechanical hands, yes. He has metal and wires replacing the occasional cell or nerve, but he is still human [even if he uses those perceived imperfections to his humanity against himself.] He is human and he despises it.

Heart is supposed to be the organic one; the physical piece of their, his, existence. Organic matter is what allows the function of neurotransmitters.

A machine is not burdened by emotions.

Heart was organic, and that made him “imperfect.” Because a machine would never get overwhelmed and break down. A machine would never freeze. A machine would never leave them alone in their room, rotting in bed for days and weeks.

Heart was in control before, and his emotionally— imperfectly— human-driven coping mechanisms gave them no aid. That’s why Mind took the next logical step; they tried to cope with emotions, and it failed them, so, of course, doesn’t it make the most sense to try the complete opposite? To lock away those inadequate emotions that left you to rot? To just keep going and be efficient and make up for all the lost time the failure of your humanity brought you?

Of course it does. You haven’t listened to the middle ground yet.

And yet as Heart releases the last little bit of control he held on to, as Mind steals a throne of “lone” sovereign and Apathy takes hold, it is agonizing. It’s numb. It’s supposed to be numb. It’s meant to be efficient, it has to be the next logical step. So why is it painful? Why does the numbness hurt? It isn’t supposed to be so agonizing.

He’s worked, so, so very hard to become a machine. And he has; he’s empty, he’s a husk of organs fit together like gears, keeping a body upright and moving.

And it’s worse than the rot. It’s worse than the rot. It’s a true sort of rot.

He’s worked so very hard to become mechanical and perfect, but a dystopia falls apart just as easily as this utopia he has dreamed of.

The apathy is agonizing. Why? The very point of the frozen numbness was so it wouldn’t hurt anymore. He misses what it was like to feel, to be human.

But was he not always human? Is he not still human? Do the philosophers care if Theseus’ ship believes itself the same individual?

He wished to be a machine, and put on a mask of such. But he is still human. Something imperfectly sacred; a sad sulking mess, a human that is being.
