ok first murder drones now spooky month depression
#did indie animation wake up and choose angst#not complaining it’s yummy but#I wasn’t expecting angst fromSPOOKY MONTH?????#and the priest character is actually really cool like a lot of media portrays priests as villains and im glad they didn’t do that here#these past few days in indie animation have been actually insane#yesterday was the lackadaisy anniversary and the release of murder drones 7 which was a ROLLERCOASTER#and then the day after that spooky month releases with DEPRESSION#indie animation is so good it’s not even funny#I hope more people become aware of indie shows so they become the new standard#like I dont want all of these plain movies/series we have been seeing from these major productions (with some exceptions ofc)#and with indie animation rising I hope it dis encourages AI use in creative media#because AI can’t make something with such a detailed and in depth plot as humans can#I mean it could eventually(?) but if you have ever interacted with AI you may notice many flaws#this has turned into an essay it’s not even tags anymore but im just psyched for indie animation#murder drones#spooky month#lackadaisy#indie animation#kind of a rant

not sure who needs to hear this but anger is not inherently a "problematic" emotion and it shouldn't always be categorized as a "toxic trait" for narcissism or abusers
#doesn't mean you should be angry ALL the time because that's not good either#like ofc please take the proper steps to help manage any excessive anger issues in a healthy manner but besides that#but if something made you upset for a logical reason then there is nothing wrong about expressing those feelings in a civil manner#that's literally how you work out conflict to get issues sorted out#as long as you're not taking your anger out on people or constantly using it as an excuse for making dick moves on people#yes it can be uncomfortable or frightening to see someone mad - but it's likely something that can be simmered down or managed appropriatel#context: nothing serious except somebody irl said that i'm 'nice except for when you're mad'#so i'm nice except for when i express a human emotion... interesting#it just got me thinking how so often in society people villainize 'anger' as an emotion so much and it just doesn't solve a lot imo#i think it would be more effective if you took that energy into actually talking it out with whoever's mad (if possible)#like most of the time it is merely a misunderstanding or miscommunication#nine times outta ten there is a solution to the issue where a happy medium can be achieved#not me saying this when i'm still getting over my fear of confrontation lol#but yeah hopefully i'm making sense#personal#tw vent

Years ago I came up with an ATLA fic idea for the earth avatar after korra and it was kinda good but I stopped caring about it. as I developed the plot and transformed my initial (flawed) idea, I got less interested in it because it was no longer the same idea. I basically wanted to write Trope A, didn't like that it was such a bad rendition of Trope A, fixed it, and got bored cause it wasn't Trope A anymore. I absolutely don't have the time (or desire) to go write it now (especially with avatar studios coming in hot with a new avatar), but damn I hope an alternate universe-me wrote it.
#atla#basically it was the same issue genji had and kyoshi had and all the fics have with not knowing who the new avatar is. Confusing two ppl#/not sure which is which#person A was abandoned at birth and given to family B#family B also had a child at the same time (gasp) which was person B#They grew up together in B's family. Both are benders#B was super clever and brave and maybe a bit headstrong but otherwise everything everyone expected of an avatar#kinda crappy parents of B are warned around age 14 or something that A and B could be dangerous together by Some Secret Source (villain for#and *insert political factors here* parents of B abandon them both.#[both A and B are mixed earth and fire nation]#A is a bit mellower and follows B's lead a lot of the time / doesn't mind not being the best at everything.#A and B go on adventures/solve mysteries on why their parents left both of them etc#that's like the first act and they find out one of them could be the avatar#they're poor btw. anyway#They of course make friends along the way (similar to aang's aventure-journey arc) and bam team avatar 3.0#except they don't know who the avatar is. gasp#so they look for people who might know how to find that out and they're like “it doesn't matter if it's you or me it's fine!” But ofc B#is really confident that it's them#blah blah they train and they find out Person A is the avatar. world crumbles#B is shocked and maybe there are issues beforehand yknow but A leaves for training and B is left in the dust feeling useless#Now abandoned by both family and friends in their eyes#B retreats and disappears for a few years as A trains. A does avatar things. B secretly gets involved with the Wrong Sort [villains]#maybe something spiritual? unlike lok2? who knows. Not me#leads up to A and B confronting each other and it's sad. A does not want this. B feels betrayed cause of x and y events#B obviously feels justified in their cause#*cue fight* but something changes w/ the villain and B's reality starts to crack#A convinces B that it's not all lost. Insert something about their parents again#gasp B's parents were threatened maybe. or not. Never decided#B starts to come around and together they kick ass. B has a LOT of community service hours to fill#protagonist to villain (maybe antihero?) to protagonist again

Haven’t really been in the mood to talk much currently but I just wanted to make a post on Miracle Island... no analysis or anything like that, this movie is just one of my favorite ways Suneo has been drawn! [Though I wouldn’t want him to be drawn this way always, it doesn’t suite his smugness and such.]

#doraemon talk#my one true love: unique linework in a doraemon movie#in a way this movies style i feel helps emphasis how young the main crew are? not that they already dont look their age but they esp do here#picturing suneo being drawn this way when hes being really mean makes it a lot funnier... imagine being bullied by this#they both look like they make a squeaky toy noise if you squeezed them#wait no wait suneo does get squeezed kind of violently in this movie if i was more mean id add squeak fx to it#gian looks akin to corduroy bear to me in this movie#its in the eyes#this movie is honestly not a fave but i like it for technically including one of the adults in the adventure the villain designs#and ofc the art style#also speaking of the violence towards suneo in this isnt this one of the only movies where the villains directly hurt the kids?#like yeah they are attacked by villains a lot but it feels most of the time they arent ever hurt except in this case where suneo def is#i think they did it in space heroes too and some other movies

Demeter is afraid of bats so their main villian is gonna be this like. mad scientist who prolly created the spiders that bit her who is prolly experimenting on themselves to become some sort of bat creature.. like man-bat and the lizard mixed together but I don’t think this guy is in anyway sympathetic. he’s obsessed with evolution, he’s bored of humanity he’s prolly obsessed with spider-man (whichever spider-man exists in this universe is probably going to die or sumn 😭)

speaking of bafflingly messy media: sometimes i look at the 100 and i'm bummed out that it ended up Like That (or i guess that it just was Like That) because it had a lineup of genuinely good and interesting characters and sometimes managed really great storylines. but then, you know...

#bog post#at some point they had killed off everyone i wasn't frustrated with#lexa roan luna#kane#bellamy was good until they gave him Designated Villain Status and then struggled to pull him back from it#lincoln ofc#raven's actress was fantastic but as a character never got any breathing room#octavia was consistently the best written and most interesting character in the show#(tho i haven't seen the final season so idk what note she went out on#except that she has a boring looking boyfriend now blech)#clarke is a strange one bc her acting is good and her DIALOGUE is good#like the actual words coming out of her mouth and her character motivations are solid#but the storylines around her are such a mess that she holds the idiot ball all the time

also like the one fury road reference in billions seeming so like unspecific to me at first that i was like uh could that have just been Any reference to any media where any character spits in someone’s face. and then at some point in the however many times i’ve reexperienced the scene since being aware of that reference it’s like, well here’s a reminder of everything else going on around that, and i had the half joking thought like nux is going on back there like “he is the one who grabs the sun” and i’m like well axe would be like, wow great employee attitude. it has also then occurred to me like, it might be weird for axe to be like “i am nux in this scenario, who would be that lowest level employee and who everyone’s going like aw he’s pathetic we don’t have to kill him” and the like. But Then wretchedly it’s like well i would bet that looking at this movie as a whole, axe Could relate to the villain / go “wowww too antihero. unsympathetic” about furiosa because he’s going like “uhh fucked up if someone high ranking is entrusted with resources and this exchange task and even gets a shoutout from their boss & then they’re like, bye actually” like What a betrayal. my epic former employee character of all time who just defected will be so pwned if i compare them to this epic protagonist character of all time pwning someone who’s just said that you can’t defy him(tm) like, everyone would understand the perspective that that’s fucked up / you should say you’re like the antagonists in this scenario
