CoPilot in MS Word
I opened Word yesterday to discover that it now contains CoPilot. It follows you as you type and if you have a personal Microsoft 365 account, you can't turn it off. You will be given 60 AI credits per month and you can't opt out of it.
The only way to banish it is to revert to an earlier version of Office. There is lot of conflicting information and overly complex guides out there, so I thought I'd share the simplest way I found.
How to revert back to an old version of Office that does not have CoPilot
This is fairly simple, thankfully, presuming everything is in the default locations. If not you'll need to adjust the below for where you have things saved.
Click the Windows Button and S to bring up the search box, then type cmd. It will bring up the command prompt as an option. Run it as an administrator.
Paste this into the box at the cursor: cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"
Hit Enter
Then paste this into the box at the cursor: officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17726.20160
Hit enter and wait while it downloads and installs.
VERY IMPORTANT. Once it's done, open Word, go to File, Account (bottom left), and you'll see a box on the right that says Microsoft 365 updates. Click the box and change the drop down to Disable Updates.
This will roll you back to build 17726.20160, from July 2024, which does not have CoPilot, and prevent it from being installed.
If you want a different build, you can see them all listed here. You will need to change the 17726.20160 at step 4 to whatever build number you want.
This is not a perfect fix, because while it removes CoPilot, it also stops you receiving security updates and bug fixes.
Switching from Office to LibreOffice
At this point, I'm giving up on Microsoft Office/Word. After trying a few different options, I've switched to LibreOffice.
You can download it here for free: https://www.libreoffice.org/
If you like the look of Word, these tutorials show you how to get that look:
www.howtogeek.com/788591/how-to-make-libreoffice-look-like-microsoft-office/
www.debugpoint.com/libreoffice-like-microsoft-office/
If you've been using Word for awhile, chances are you have a significant custom dictionary. You can add it to LibreOffice following these steps.
First, get your dictionary from Microsoft
Go to Manage your Microsoft 365 account: account.microsoft.com.
One you're logged in, scroll down to Privacy, click it and go to the Privacy dashboard.
Scroll down to Spelling and Text. Click into it and scroll past all the words to download your custom dictionary. It will save it as a CSV file.
Open the file you just downloaded and copy the words.
Open Notepad and paste in the words. Save it as a text file and give it a meaningful name (I went with FromWord).
Next, add it to LibreOffice
Open LibreOffice.
Go to Tools in the menu bar, then Options. It will open a new window.
Find Languages and Locales in the left menu, click it, then click on Writing aids.
You'll see User-defined dictionaries. Click New to the right of the box and give it a meaningful name (mine is FromWord).
Hit Apply, then Okay, then exit LibreOffice.
Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\wordbook and you will see the new dictionary you created. (If you can't see the AppData folder, you will need to show hidden files by ticking the box in the View menu.)
Open it in Notepad by right clicking and choosing 'open with', then pick Notepad from the options.
Open the text file you created at step 5 in 'get your dictionary from Microsoft', copy the words and paste them into your new custom dictionary UNDER the dotted line.
Save and close.
Reopen LibreOffice. Go to Tools, Options, Languages and Locales, Writing aids and make sure the box next to the new dictionary is ticked.
If you use LIbreOffice on multiple machines, you'll need to do this for each machine.
Please note: this worked for me. If it doesn't work for you, check you've followed each step correctly, and try restarting your computer. If it still doesn't work, I can't provide tech support (sorry).

Following a White House edict effectively banning federal employees from disclosing their personal pronouns in email signatures, sources within multiple federal agencies say pronouns are now being systemically blocked across multiple email clients and other software.
WIRED confirmed various automated efforts with employees at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the General Services Administration (GSA), the US Department of Agriculture, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The employees spoke to WIRED on condition of anonymity, citing fears of retaliation.
Multiple agency directors sent emails over the weekend telling staff that, due to President Donald Trump’s executive order, their offices would be removing the pronoun capability from Office 365. Employees were told they’d also need to remove pronouns from their email signatures in order to comply with the directive.
A staffer at USAID says the formal deactivation of their ability to list pronouns occurred last week, in response to executive orders defining sexes issued by President Trump on his first day in office. A GSA staffer says pronouns were wiped from employees’ email signatures after hours on Friday and were also no longer visible in Slack, the workplace messaging app. At the CDC, there used to be a section for employees to share their pronouns on their Teams profiles, another workplace app. That field no longer exists.
Reached for comment, the White House transferred WIRED to OPM communications director McLaurine Pinover, who pointed to January 29 memorandum ordering agencies to disable all features “that prompt users for their pronouns.”
The ban on personal pronouns follows sweeping efforts by the White House to eliminate programs that encourage diversity and social justice within the federal government, as well as other references to “diversity, equity, and inclusion” in federal employees’ discourse.
In a striking example of the policy in action, an image surfaced last week of a wall being painted over at the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Quantico, Virginia, academy due to it listing "diversity" among the bureau's core values. (According to an email from the FBI’s Office of Integrity and Compliance obtained by Mother Jones, the bureau no longer counts "diversity" among its core values.)
The Trump administration began a radical campaign last week aimed at inducing members of the federal workforce to leave their jobs ahead of threatened reductions. The effort is spearheaded by Elon Musk, leader of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a task force that has effectively seized control of several federal agencies and sensitive government systems with apparent clearance from the White House.
WIRED reported last week that Musk’s outfit had effectively taken over the Office of Personnel Management, the US government’s human resources department. In this and other efforts, it is employing inexperienced young engineers whose ages range from 19 to 24—many of whom, public records show, are former interns or have been affiliated with Musk-aligned companies.
OPM emailed federal workers on January 28 with a “deferred resignation offer,” sparking widespread confusion among federal workers. (DOGE’s own new HR chief was unable to answer basic questions about the offer in a contentious staff meeting last week, WIRED reported.) In an email to staff Sunday evening, OPM clarified whether the deferred resignation program complied with existing privacy laws. “Yes,” read the answer. “The deferred resignation program uses only basic contact information about federal employees, like name and government address, along with short, voluntary email responses. The information is stored on government systems. To the extent that the Privacy Act applies, all information relevant to the program is covered by existing OPM System Records Notices.”
Multiple agency sources told WIRED last week that several of Musk's lieutenants had been granted access to key computer systems controlled by the GSA, an independent agency tasked by Congress with overseeing federal buildings and providing equipment, supplies, and IT support across the government.

Supercharged Masterlist
a/n: guys. it's TIIIIIME!!! how many years have you heard me talk about how I was working on a superpowered jungkook story?? I started this thing four years ago so I can't believe the moment's finally come! it's been a long ride, and most of those four years was spent not writing this, but I just couldn't stay away either! I really wanted to tell this story, and now here it is and I am so happy to be able to share it💜 Let me know in a reblog, comment or ask if you want to join my taglist for this series! Over the next week before chapter 1 is released, check back as I introduce our characters👀I'm so excited for you to meet them!
As a smile was just blooming on your face, it was halted by Namjoon's next words.
“But. You aren’t ready just yet. I want you out there with us, so I’m willing to send you out sooner than I have with others before. These are unusual times, and you have to understand this will be more dangerous than I normally send rookies to. There’s work to do, with your powers, but also…
“As much as I appreciate your trust in us, I know it doesn’t extend fully. I need my team to be able to trust each other. Every single one.”
Fixing you with a hard stare to accompany his last words, he was effective in making you shrink in your seat. You knew exactly who he was talking about.
And that person was waiting for you right outside.
On leaving the office, you found Jungkook leaning up against the wall. Jin and Namjoon had hung back, leaving you alone as you emerged, and you instantly rolled your eyes. Determined not to be deterred, you kept walking down the corridor, trying to fix your eyes ahead – firmly away from the infuriating man that watched your approach.
“Scared yet?” his smirk bled through his words. You were almost upon him at this point, and he pushed away from the wall, blocking the way with his black-clad body.
Eyes flicking up to him, unimpressed, you tapped your foot.
“Why would I be scared?”
One corner of his mouth curved up, looking you in the eye as he leaned a little closer.
“We aren’t heroes, honey.”
“Thanks for spelling that out, Jungkook,” you drawled, making to step past him.
His laughter followed you while you started walking away.
“Need help packing?” he called.
“Hey, Jungkook,” Jin’s stern voice joined him, “no need. She’s not going anywhere.”
Jungkook’s silence spoke volumes.
Glancing back as you reached the end of the corridor, you were met with the livid expression that seemed so familiar. Jungkook’s eyes bulged with shock. You were sure that Jin’s hand on his shoulder was all that was holding him back.
Making the most of his eyes on you, you flashed a serene smile and walked away.
Thank you for reading!! Part 1 is coming on April 14th, and I will update every week (that's a promise, since it's already written in full!)💜

Musk could be headed for a Washington exit after turbulent times at Trump's DOGE
By CHRIS MEGERIAN, Associated PressUpdated April 2, 2025 10:24 a.m.

WASHINGTON (AP) — DOGE’s days appear to be numbered.
Elon Musk recently suggested that he will be done with his work in the near future. President Donald Trump told reporters this week that “at some point, he’s going to be going back” to running his companies. As far as the Department of Government Efficiency, Trump said “it will end.”
All of that talk was before Musk faced a setback Tuesday in Wisconsin, where voters rejected his choice for a state Supreme Court candidate despite more than $21 million in personal donations and his campaign appearance over the weekend. There are more problems for the billionaire entrepreneur at Tesla, his electric automaker, which saw a 13% drop in sales in the first three months of the year.
The White House has not disclosed any clear timeline for closing down DOGE, and the government cost-cutting organization was never supposed to become a permanent fixture in Washington. But it could be reaching a conclusion faster than anticipated. DOGE was originally intended to operate until July 4, 2026.
Now there are signs that it already is winding down. DOGE employees have been shifted to various federal agencies, which are supposed to take the lead on cutting costs. Government-wide layoffs are underway to accomplish some of the goals laid out by Musk and Trump.
“We think probably over the next two or three months, we’ll be pretty much satisfied with the people that are working hard and want to be members of the administration,” Trump said last week.
The potential end of DOGE does not mean Trump will stop shaking up Washington. But it appears the administration’s efforts will be entering a new phase that is less focused on Musk, whose chain saw-wielding work as a presidential adviser made him a political lightning rod.
DOGE was initially envisioned as an independent advisory panel, with Musk sharing leadership with Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur. Ramaswamy dropped out and is running for Ohio governor, and DOGE became part of the government. It was stocked with Musk's allies, who were dispatched throughout the bureaucracy to cancel contracts, access sensitive data and push for cuts.
Musk presumably has a ticking clock on his tenure. He was hired as a special government employee, which means he can only work 130 days in a 365-day time period.
“I think we will have accomplished most of the work required to reduce the deficit by a trillion dollars within that time frame,” Musk told Bret Baier of Fox News on March 27. So far DOGE is well short of that target, according to its own calculations, which have been criticized as inflated and inaccurate.
Musk did not commit to leaving the administration by any particular date, and it is unclear how the administration is tracking Musk’s time. On May 30, it will be 130 days since Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
Trump told reporters on Monday in the Oval Office that “I’d keep him as long as I could keep him” and “he’s a very talented guy.”
The Republican president was known for explosive breakups with top advisers during his first term, but anyone hoping for such a split with Musk has been disappointed.
“I think he’s amazing, but I also think he’s got a big company to run,” Trump said. “And so, at some point, he’s going to be going back.”
Asked if DOGE would continue without Musk, Trump demurred. He said Cabinet officials have worked closely with Musk and may keep some of the DOGE people at their agencies.
“But at a certain point I think it will end,” Trump said.
Musk's poll numbers lag behind Trump's, which Democrats believe they were able to use to their advantage in Wisconsin.
Susan Crawford defeated Brad Schimel, who Musk supported, and ensured the state Supreme Court's liberal majority.
In the closing days of that campaign, Musk described the race as “important for the future of civilization.” He struck a different tone afterward.
“I expected to lose, but there is value to losing a piece for a positional gain,” Musk wrote on X at 3:13 a.m.

Source Code: My Beginnings by Bill Gates
In contrast to the current crop of swaggering tech bros, the Microsoft founder comes across as wry and self-deprecating in this memoir of starting out
Bill Gates is the John McEnroe of the tech world: once a snotty brat whom everyone loved to hate, now grown up into a beloved elder statesman. Former rivals, most notably Apple’s Steve Jobs, have since departed this dimension, while the Gates Foundation, focusing on unsexy but important technologies such as malaria nets, was doing “effective altruism” long before that became a fashionable term among philosophically minded tech bros. Time, then, to look back. In the first of what the author threatens will be a trilogy of memoirs, Gates recounts the first two decades of his life, from his birth in 1955 to the founding of Microsoft and its agreement to supply a version of the Basic programming language to Apple Computer in 1977.
He grows up in a pleasant suburb of Seattle with a lawyer father and a schoolteacher mother. His intellectual development is keyed to an origin scene in which he is fascinated by his grandmother’s skill at card games around the family dining table. The eight-year-old Gates realises that gin rummy and sevens are systems of dynamic data that the player can learn to manipulate.
As he tells it, Gates was a rather disruptive schoolchild, always playing the smart alec and not wanting to try too hard, until he first learned to use a computer terminal under the guidance of an influential maths teacher named Bill Dougall. (I wanted to learn more about this man than Gates supplies in a still extraordinary thumbnail sketch: “He had been a World War II Navy pilot and worked as an aeronautical engineer at Boeing. Somewhere along the way he earned a degree in French Literature from the Sorbonne in Paris on top of graduate degrees in engineering and education.”) Ah, the computer terminal. It is 1968, so the school terminal communicates with a mainframe elsewhere. Soon enough, the 13-year-old Gates has taught it to play noughts and crosses. He is hooked. He befriends another pupil, Paul Allen – who will later introduce him to alcohol and LSD – and together they pore over programming manuals deep into the night. Gates plans a vast simulation war game, but he and his friends get their first taste of writing actually useful software when they are asked to automate class scheduling after their school merges with another. Success with this leads the children, now calling themselves the Lakeside Programming Group, to write a payroll program for local businesses, and later to create software for traffic engineers.
There follows a smooth transition to Harvard, where in the ferment of anti-war campus protests our hero is more interested in the arrival, one day in 1969, of a PDP-10 computer. Gates takes classes in maths but also chemistry and the Greek classics. Realising he doesn’t have it in him to become a pure mathematician, he goes all-in on computers once a new home machine, the Altair, is announced. He and Paul Allen will write its Basic, having decided to call themselves “Micro-Soft”.
The early home computer scene, Gates notes, was a countercultural, hippy thing: cheap computers “represented a triumph of the masses against the monolithic corporations and establishment forces that controlled access to computing”, and so software was widely “shared”, or copied among people for free. It was Gates himself who, notoriously, pushed back against this culture when he found out most users of his Basic weren’t paying for it. By “stealing software”, he wrote in an open letter in 1976, “you prevent good software from being written. Who can afford to do professional work for nothing?” This rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way and still does, at least in the more militant parts of the “open-source” world. But he had a point. And that, readers, is why your Office 365 account just renewed for another year. Fans of Word and Excel, though, will have to wait for subsequent volumes of Gates’s recollections, as will those who want more about his later battles with Apple, though Steve Jobs does get an amusing walk-on part. (Micro-Soft’s general manager keeps a notebook of sales calls, on one page of which we read: “11.15 Steve Jobs calls. Was very rude.”). This volume, still, is more than just a geek’s inventory of early achievements. There is a genuine gratitude for influential mentors, and a wry mood of self-deprecation throughout. Gates gleefully records his first preschool report: “He seemed determined to impress us with his complete lack of concern for any phase of school life.” Later, he explains how he acquired a sudden interest in theatre classes. “Admittedly the main draw for me was the higher percentage of girls in drama. And since the main activity in the class was to read lines to each other, the odds were very good that I’d actually talk to one.” Strikingly, unlike most “self-made” billionaires, Gates emphasises the “unearned privilege” of his upbringing and the peculiar circumstances – “mostly out of my control” – that enabled his career. Adorably, he even admits to still having panic dreams about his university exams. The book’s most touching pages recount how one of his closest friends and colleagues in the programming group, Kent Evans, died in a mountaineering accident when he was 17. “Throughout my life, I have tended to deal with loss by avoiding it,” Gates writes. He says later that if he were growing up today, he would probably be identified as “on the autism spectrum”, and now regrets some of his early behaviour, though “I wouldn’t change the brain I was given for anything”. There is a sense of the writer, older and wiser, trying to redeem the past through understanding it better, a thing that no one has yet seen Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg attempt in public. That alone makes Bill Gates a more human tech titan than most of his rivals, past and present.

Bungo Stray Dogs Anime Stellar Radio Interview - 09/26/2023
Sharing some points from the Anime Stellar Radio Interview with Kadokawa Producer Kurakane Chiaki.

"Asagiri supervises everything."
Kurakane shares that sensei always comes to the anime script meetings and has never missed any, despite his busy schedule.
How Kadokawa met BSD
Kurakane's first encounter with BSD was when she saw it on the cover of Young Ace. The person next to her in the office brought the magazine and she just happened to see it. She was amazed and drawn to Harukawa's character design- its beauty and originality captivated her.
About the Character Design
In BSD, the "silhoutte" of a character is very important and distinctive- even if the drawing is just all black you can tell who the character is. When they selected the main illustrator for the anime, they had animators from Bones submit their pieces anonymously. The one whose silhoutte resembled Harukawa's the most turned out to be Nobuhiro Arai (current Character Designer and Chief Animation Director).
On Atsushi as a Character
The appeal of Atsushi as a character can be seen right from the first scene. Despite thinking that he would have to steal in order to live, upon seeing someone "drowning" in the river, he still chose to save them. He could not go against his good-natured heart and character.
Dazai's Treatment to Atsushi and Akutagawa
Regarding the difference in the treatment of Dazai to Atsushi and Akutagawa, Kurakane thinks that Dazai acts like that because he believes that that is the most effective and appropriate way for each of them. Well we don't really know what Dazai is thinking, and we may not agree with his ways especially with Akutagawa, but in the end it does make Akutagawa hold on to his life (despite having an illness) and strive to become stronger. Dazai may be seeing a bigger picture than all of us and probably in his own way, acting with the words of his late friend in mind.
BSD in Real Life
One of the most memorable characters for Kurakane is Shibusawa Tatsuhiko because they got to meet and even eat together with the real literary master's wife. She also mentions that in BSD collabs with literary museums, they also sometimes meet the relatives of other literary masters.
BSD: A Ten-year Project
The anime started around 7.5 years ago, but for them in the anime production team it actually started 9 years ago. Back then, Kurakane was asked by the company's higher-ups to create something that could continue on for 10 years.
With the main anime series, movies, stage plays, games, Wan! anime, collabs, etc. here and there, Kurakane felt like she's been running for 24h for 365 days, so in all honesty, now that the 5th season is finished, she just wants to sleep well and… play with her cat at home.
Kurakane is also one of the people behind the official Twitter account. She recalls that sometimes when she tweets something late at night (while not checking the time), some fans would leave comments worrying about the staff working too much.
Lily
Kurakane shares that of all the songs in BSD, "Lily" holds a special place in her heart because she remembers Kubodera Akira- Mori's first stage actor who died in suspected suicide- saying that he likes the song a lot.
About 「未了」 (Unfinished)
In "A Perfect Murder and Murderer", the last word on the manuscript of Yokomizo- a writer- which was wet with Mushitaro's tear, is 「了」, which means "finished". To give the BSD anime a more literary feel and tone, they chose to have the 「了」.
In a similar note, while the previous BSD stage plays always ended with 「閉幕」 ("end of play" or literally "closing of curtain"), the last play: Cannibalism used the word 「了」 instead, signifying that the BSD Stage Play, as a whole piece, is "finished".

What BSD Is
Kurakane shares that BSD screenwriter Enokido Yoji once said that if a story of how one becomes successful is what a Shonen manga is, then depicting the journey of a defeated person searching for their place in this world is what Literature is.
Those words really stuck with Kurakane like a guiding principle, and so no matter what media form they create BSD in, they strive to remain faithful to its root.
BSD is relatable, as it properly shows those troubles that anyone of us may be experiencing in our lives. This theme of "struggling"- which in itself is "living"- is what they strive to keep at the heart of BSD.
Future Plans
For now Kurakane can't really say anything about the future of the anime, but as they take a rest she hopes they come up with something good for BSD, in whatever form that may be. The only clear plans that they have right now are the Gakuen game, the expo, and some collabs with museums.
BSD Media Timeline
Asagiri-sensei, Harukawa-sensei, and all the staff of BSD have done so much for us for the past decade. We really should appreciate their hard work more! Please support the official accounts and releases as much as possible!
I’m no longer active on tumblr nowadays, so you may follow me on twitter instead @harukaja15
My translations on tumblr are compiled under the tag #bsd translation and #my works

Hello Alice 🤎
Sorry to sneak into your ask box but I loved 'The Truth is out there, but so is Love' and I need more X Files LeviHan!
I don't know if you take prompts but if you do I'd like to request a drabble based on this quote : "Mulder Levi, you just keep unfolding like a flower." (The X Files - S1 - Episode 12 "Fire"). Because I (and Hange) want to know more about Agent Ackerman's past!
Feel free to ignore this request of course!
Thank you
🤎🤎
Hi Livia! Thank you so much for your request and for your kind words. It makes me genuinely happy to know you liked this fic 💜💚
I'm sorry it's taken so long to reply to this, I was just having a hard time figuring out what to write. Then, I realized the first anniversary of The Truth Is Out There, But So Is Love was approaching, and everything fell into place. I hope you don't mind that I made your prompt into a celebratory drabble for the fic's anniversary! ________________________________________
Pairing: Levi Ackerman/ Hange Zoë Warnings: None. SFW and Fluff. Additional tags: The X Files AU, She/Her pronouns for Hange Zoë Wordcount: 1,4k
“The fuck is all this?”
Levi asked as he stepped into the basement office. Over the past months, he’d grown used to the crampiness of the space he shared with Agent Zoë who — much to her credit — had been trying to keep things clean, even if chaotic. But what he stared upon right now was a different kind of chaos. Colorful chaos.
The document boxes and cabinets were covered in metallic serpentine coils, which spilled to the ground, painting it red, green, and yellow. The wall of newspaper cutouts had some joyful additions: a picture of an alleged alien head now had a tiny pink birthday hat over it, the severed arm that an article claimed to belong to a victim of the Jersey Devil held a little slice of cake over its hand. Dozens of purple balloons clung to the ceiling, trying to escape the havoc, their curling ribbons hanging so low one of them grazed at Agent Ackerman’s cheek. Levi pushed the strip away, only to have it prickling at his skin a second later.
“Tch. It looks like Party City took a dump in here.”
“I know, right??” The excited voice called from the other side of the room. Agent Zoë sat at her table, face turned to the opposite wall, exactly like the day they met. Her hair was chaotic as always, brown strands moving as she lowered her head to fiddle with something. Levi watched as his partner set aside a small box, and the smell of smoke mixed with something sweet diffused in the air. Hange put on a polka-dotted cone hat before swiftly turning her chair in his direction, smiling from ear to ear.
“Happy birthday, Levi!”
The agent frowned as he inspected the rainbow sprinkle cupcake she held out to him, especially the “1” shaped candle that topped it.
“I’m 32.”
He moved his gaze to her.
“And it’s not my birthday.”
“Well,” Hange started, reaching for his hand to give him the sweet treat “Since I don’t know your birth date, I figured we could celebrate your first year in the X-Files. It’s been exactly 365 days since you walked through that door for the first time.” There was a tinge of genuine warmth in her final words. The same warmth that he felt in his chest.
“The monkey case? It’s been one year already?” Levi asked, sincerely surprised.
“Yes!” Hange said, reaching for a desk calendar that was on one of the cabinets. She pointed at the date that was circled in red “July 26”.
When he was first assigned to work with Agent Zoë, Levi was counting the minutes to be done with the job and move on to the top floors of the J Edgar Hoover Building. Now, a mere year later, still buried in the basement floor, investigating all kinds of weird shit by Hange’s side, he couldn’t imagine himself doing anything else. Time flies in the X Files.
The sound of Hange cleaning her throat pulled him back to reality
“So, when is your birthday, by the way?” she said, feigning casualness
Silence.
“Come on, Levi! At least give me a clue.”
“Fine.”
Hange’s face lit up.
“It happened one time since we met.”
Hange’s smile melted into a hilarious betrayed scowl and Levi had to fight hard to maintain his nonchalant expression.
“Wow,” she said, with an exaggerated wounded look “Levi, you just keep unfolding like a flower.”
He couldn’t fight the urge to smile this time.
“I just don’t celebrate birthdays,” he explained, appeasing his partner “so I refrain from sharing this date with people. But if you’re really so curious, I’m sure you can find that information very easily.
“It wouldn’t feel right” Hange explained, shrugging as if she was ready to drop the subject, but then “That means you never had a birthday party?” she asked, bobbing her head to the side. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to!” she quickly added.
“My mom made me a few when she was alive, but I hardly remember any of them” Levi recounted as faded flashes of his mother lifting him from the ground and holding him above a colorful table to blow his candles invaded his mind. “There was one party my friend threw me. The red-haired friend, from the foster home, I think I told you about her once-”
“The one that was like your little sister.” Hange nodded, eyes fixed on him, waiting for his next words.
“Exactly. She bought us two handfuls of candy, I don’t even know where she got the money, probably beat some kids at marbles or something” Levi chuckled “Then she arranged them on the bed, in the shape of a birthday cake. It was a surprise party too, because it was nowhere near the right date.” He smiled, his heart full of love as he reminisced about his friend, and when he looked up, Hange had the sweetest smile on her face.
“Did you ever contact her?” “I planned to. We promised we would stay in touch. But as it turns out, the adults weren’t very keen on sharing the families’ information with a couple of kids. Over time I even forgot her name, I just have a vague memory of someone saying that it was also a flower”
“What flower??” Hange all but jumped on him to get the answer.
“Jesus! How should I know? I know fuck-all about flowers.”
Hange nodded, but Levi could see in her eyes that her mind was elsewhere.
“How about we just celebrate Christmas?” Levi’s proposition caught his partner's attention.
“I don’t do Christmas” Hange answered, puzzled.
“Me neither. Is the perfect middle ground, don’t you think?”
It really was.
Or so he thought when December 25 came and with it an invite to Hange’s apartment.
Levi dreaded he would find over-the-top decorations or — even worse — a bunch of guests with whom he would have to socialize. So when he crossed her door he was relieved to see that it was just her usual place, mess and all, with just a pizza box and one beer bottle awaiting on the small center table. The other bottle was in Hange’s hand, and she used it to point him to the couch, as she went on to feed her fish.
The movie this time was Hange’s choice, and Levi wasn’t surprised when the opening scene of Alien started playing on TV. He was surprised, however, to know why it was her favorite film.
“I like the fact that the cat survives.” She told him “Ripley goes through all that trouble to save Jonesy as she’s running for her life. Then the creature finds Jonesy in his cage and spares him. I think I like the fact that both the human and the alien had to act in a certain way, opposite of what one would think, and that made it possible for the cat to live. I think it means we’re not so different. Or that everyone is more complex than they appear.”
“Maybe it just means cats are fucking scary.”
She laughed, lightly kicking his foot.
As the final credits rolled, Hange propped herself up from the couch.
“I have something for you.”
When she came back from her room, she was holding something flat and rectangular, wrapped in green paper, with a delicate purple ribbon. Levi opened it to reveal a book.
Botanical World 1: An Illustrated Guide To The Flowers of America
He stared at the gift for a whole minute, knowing what it meant.
“If we don’t find her name in this one, there are four more, for Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.”
Levi gulped, trying to swallow the painful knot that was in his throat.
“We can go through it together.” Hange tried, then added, a few seconds later “Or If you don’t like it I can take it back. Anyway, Merry Christmas, Levi, or Happy non-Christmas, I don’t know” Hange chuckled nervously and stared at him expectantly.
“I think” Levi paused, taking his time to look Hange in the eyes “Happy Birthday is more appropriate.”
Levi patiently waited as his partner peered at him. Then squinted. Tilted her head to the side. Her eyes started to grow wide as realization dawned on her.
Hange gave him the most breathtaking smile, and suddenly Levi wasn’t sure what the best birthday present was.

In a strategic move that aims to boost the offerings of faith and family content, Great American Family and Pure Flix Entertainment have now completed a merger that will combine two popular media companies. Bill Abbott, CEO of Great American Family, discussed the significance of the new focus, highlighting the shared values and the bright future the collaboration holds.
Abbott emphasized the alignment of values and missions between Great American Family and Pure Flix as a pivotal factor in the merger’s success. “This is really a match made in heaven. The values and missions of both Great American Media and Pure Flix are completely aligned,” Abbott stated.
With the growing trend of shifting viewership from traditional linear TV to streaming platforms, Abbott sees the merger as a strategic step toward reaching a broader audience while staying true to their shared mission. “Viewers are shifting from linear TV more and more to streaming. While linear TV still has a longer runway to go, we now have a streaming outlet that gives us the chance to reach 80 million potential subscribers that don’t get Great American Family,” he explained.
The collaboration also involves a reciprocal approach. Abbott revealed that Great American Family would feature content from Pure Flix’s library on its linear TV channels. “We tapped into the Pure Flix library and saw some content that was available for linear as well. We’ll be proud to have content like ‘Strong Fathers Strong Daughters’ on our channel,” Abbott noted, emphasizing their commitment to inspiring and uplifting programming.
When asked about the growth of Great American Family, Abbott pointed to their flagship channel’s impressive trajectory. “We’ve had triple digit growth since November of this past year, finishing our eighth consecutive month as the leader in growth in the entire cable landscape,” he shared. This sustained growth demonstrates the strong appetite for faith and family content in a media landscape that often lacks such offerings.
Exploring the reasons behind the surge in popularity of faith-based programming, Abbott stated, “There are less and less outlets out there that are 24/7, 365 days a year, just so focused on never surprising the viewer in a negative way…but also compelling, inspiring, uplifting, and celebratory of many of the institutions and philosophies of the majority of the country.”
Abbott acknowledged the significance of key acquisitions, including talents like Candace Cameron Buré and Danica McKellar, who have elevated the mission of Great American Family. He described Buré’s role as Chief Content Officer, highlighting her exceptional creativity, understanding of branding, and commitment to the company’s mission.
“She is bringing us a number of different projects that really will resonate across both the faith and family audience in a different way,” he said. “And she is mission driven, as are many of our talent, from Danica and on and on.”

Remote Work Skills: Thriving in a Distributed World

The global shift towards remote work has set into motion a profound transformation in the sphere of the modern professional world. What once was a choice for only a select few has now turned into the mainstream reach, propelled by the technological evolution and varied business demands. Thriving in this distributed working world goes beyond just owning a laptop and interconnection; it engages hard chips of remote work skills that impart power to any individual to work productively, collaborate with, and engage in activities irrespective of the place they come from.
Those interested in excelling within such work-from-home settings or contributing efficiently to any distributed team must address these core competencies. They are the underlying foundation for any successful remote career.
Why Dedicated Remote Work Skills Matter
Working remotely isn't just about changing your location; it's about adapting your entire work methodology. Without the implicit structures of a physical office (like impromptu hallway conversations or direct supervision), new challenges arise in communication, focus, and collaboration. This necessitates a proactive approach to developing skills that ensure productivity and cohesion within a virtual setting.
Essential Remote Work Skills for a Distributed World:
Successfully navigating the remote landscape hinges on a blend of both technical proficiency and crucial soft skills.
1. Exceptional Digital Communication:
What it is: The ability to communicate messages very clearly, concisely, and empathetically across digital channels (emails, chats, video calls, etc.). That would include also writing well and being an active listener during virtual meetings.
Why it's crucial: There may not be any body language. Clarity helps in avoiding misunderstandings, in getting everybody on the same track, and in building trust among them.
How to develop: Practice on writing clear emails; use bullet points; engage video calls for intricate discussions; and start to actively listen by sitting through virtual meetings distraction-free.
2. Self-Discipline & Time Management:
What it is: The ability to manage your own schedule, prioritize tasks, and meet all the deadlines while keeping focus on performances unfettered by external supervision.
Why it's crucial: No one is there watching over your shoulder. Your productivity depends on you.
How to develop: Try forming a workspace for yourself, set clear goals for the day, get productive tools like a calendar or a task manager (Asana or Trello), and play around with time-blocking techniques (like the Pomodoro Technique).
3. Proficiency in Digital Collaboration Tools:
What it is: Having expertise in the use of software for virtual meetings (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet), team communication (Slack, Discord), project management (Jira, Asana, Monday.com), and cloud document sharing (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
Why it's crucial: These settings are the virtual office. If smoothly run, workflows can be seamless, leading to proper teamwork.
How to develop: Enroll in online tutorials; experiment with several platforms and make the use of them for every single team activity.
4. Adaptability & Tech Agility:
What it is: The ability to quickly learn new technologies, adapt to evolving workflows, and embrace changing platforms and processes.
Why it's crucial: The remote tech stack and best practices are constantly evolving; one is required to be agile to stay efficacious and relevant.
How to develop: Embrace a continuous learning mindset, subscribe to tech news, and stay open to sampling new tools and methods proposed by your team.
5. Proactive-Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking:
What it is: The ability to notice a problem by oneself, research for ways to fix it, decide on the right solution, and address technical glitches without someone present.
Why it's crucial: Sometimes you cannot casually stroll up to a colleague's desk. Remote work puts a much bigger stress on overcoming challenges with extra autonomy.
How to develop: Own the problem; sharpen your researching skills; and practice breaking down big problems into smaller steps.
6. Accountability & Ownership:
What it is: Accepting full ownership of personal work and commitments and communicating with respect to objectives and barriers encountered.
Why it's crucial: Trust is almost a currency in distributed teams; it is the glue that keeps them together.
How to develop: Clearly communicate what is to be delivered, give regular updates (even if small), and notify others in advance if it's going to be hard to meet a deadline, including ideas for solutions.
Cultivating Your Remote Work Edge:
The transition to remote work isn't just a temporary trend; for many, it's the future of work. By intentionally developing these core remote work skills, you not only prepare yourself for current opportunities but also build a resilient, adaptable, and highly valuable professional profile. Invest in these skills, and you'll not just survive, but truly thrive in a distributed world.

5 Common Cloud Security Myths That Could Be Endangering Your Business

In the modern business world where everything starts with digital, cloud computing has emerged as a preferred choice to achieve flexibility, scalability and efficiency. Whether it is email hosting, file storage or entire infrastructure, an increasing number of Irish business are moving to the cloud.
However, as the benefits of the cloud platform are enormous, the security is one of the most significant concerns. Regrettably, several businesses continue to believe in cloud security myths thus exposing their systems to the risk of attacks, data loss, and expensive downtimes.
Here at Image IT we have witnessed how the speculation and untrue stories about cloud security can materialise into actual danger.
This blog will dispel five of the most harmful cloud security myths and will give an explanation of how you can secure your business against threats that can be avoided.
Myth 1: The Cloud Is Self-Secure
Too many businesses operate under the assumption that, simply by engaging the services of a reputable cloud provider (such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or AWS), they have accomplished all they need to in order to keep their data safe. It is a perilous supposition.
Reality: Cloud providers do offer substantial security measures, but they are run on a shared responsibility basis. That is, they provide the security of the infrastructure, however, you still have to secure your data, user access and endpoints.
For example:
When your employee has a weak password and his account is compromised- that is your fault.
And when sensitive files are shared without access control, that also will be your fault.
At Image IT we assist Irish companies with layered cloud security plans, including multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, firewalls, and monitoring.
Do not make assumptions. Get your portion of the responsibility.
Myth 2: Large Companies Only Are Targeted
Small businesses believe that they are too small to be of interest to a hacker- why bother?
Fact: In fact, small and medium-sized companies are favorites of cybercriminals. Why? Since they usually do not have the sophisticated security mechanisms of bigger organisations, they are easier to abuse.
Global cyber security reports show that more than 40 percent of cyber attacks are aimed at small businesses, and the financial losses can be disastrous, ranging between ransom payments and reputational loss.
A poorly secured cloud environment is an invitation to attackers; these may be improperly secured cloud databases or even uncovered cloud login portals.
Myth 3: It Is Sufficient to Protect Cloud Data by a Firewall.
Most businesses believe that as long as they have a good firewall installed at the office, they do not need to worry about anything even when they are using cloud services.
Realty: Firewalls comprise only a partial solution to security, and they are perimeter devices to secure your network. However, cloud systems can be accessed remotely, usually through the home network of employees or their mobile phones.
When your staff is remote, or accessing cloud-based services in the field, not all vulnerabilities will be covered by a classic firewall.
This is why the contemporary business should have a layered approach to security which encompasses:
Next-gen firewalls
Device encryption
Endpoint protection
Secure VPNs
Identity access management
Threat monitoring in real- time
Image IT Network Security Services do more than just firewalls. We assist you to secure all entry points- be it a laptop in the office or a smart phone in a cafe.
Cloud security must go where your team works.
Myths 4: Cloud Providers are Going to Back Up Everything on Your behalf
Many people believe that when files are stored in the cloud, then they are secure, recoverable and are automatically backed up. However, relying on defaults of your provider might be dangerous.
Reality: Basic redundancy is provided by the majority of cloud providers, yet they do not guarantee an opportunity to recover all of your data unless you implement a specific backup plan.
What might go wrong is this:
An user deletes some important files by mistake and you find out about it after the recovery window.
Your cloud files have been encrypted due to a ransomware attack, and unfortunately, the backup copies are also compromised.
An authorized person overwrites some crucial documents by accident.
So unless you have an active backup system, you could be losing weeks, or even months of valuable information.
At Image IT, we can assist your business to set up secure and automated cloud backup system so that you can be sure you can access your files, regardless of what happens.
Myth 5: Cloud Security Is One Time Set Up
You’ve got antivirus software, a configured firewall, and access controls in place—excellent work on your security setup! And there is more to it.
truth: Cyber security is not a “set-it-and-forget-it” procedure. You’ve got antivirus software, a configured firewall, and access controls in place—excellent work on your security setup! When you have a static cloud security, you are just waiting to be found out.
Securing cloud, today needs:
Regular audits
Software updates
Patch management
User training
Policy reviews
Threat monitoring
With proactive security services at Image IT, you get real time threat detection and vulnerability assessment as well as automatic updates to ensure your systems are secure- 24/7.
The cloud is dynamic- your security must be as well.
The Difference Smart Businesses Are Making
Having busted these myths, you may be thinking: how do the most secure businesses treat cloud security?
What we have seen is this:
They train their personnel. workers are educated to avoid phishing attempts, utilize effective passwords and security best practices.
2. They deal with specialists. They collaborate with their trusted IT experts to create and sustain safe cloud surroundings.
3. They observe round the clock. They do not wait until a problem occurs, they watch out to see if there is trouble.
4. They prepare to the worst. Their backups are onsite and tested disaster recovery plan.
At Image IT we assist companies in Drogheda, Louth, Meath and nationwide to develop cloud-first strategies without sacrificing on security.
Myths can be very dangerous to a business, so remember:
The cloud is a mighty instrument- provided it is secured in a suitable way.
There is a severe risk of believing in these old myths and putting your business into jeopardy. And in the present-day environment, a single data breach can lead to the loss of clients, GDPR fines, and the tarnishing of the reputation of the brand on a long-term basis.
It is not a matter of chance. Protect your systems against a qualified IT partner who knows the technology as well as the threats.
Cloud Security: Let’s Talk
Image IT can assist you whether you are already utilising cloud services or are still in the process of investigating your possibilities. Whether it is tailor-made network security, or complete cloud backup and threat monitoring- we have you covered in business.

Head-to-Head: Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 Copilot

Executive Summary:
Google and Microsoft both offer cloud-enabled office productivity suites. The right choice for your organization depends on your priorities. Small businesses may find Google Workspace is the best fit due to better collaboration and stronger AI capabilities, while larger organizations may want the more full-featured security tools of Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Nearly two decades ago, Google stepped up with a cloud-based solution to challenge Microsoft's dominance of office productivity software. Today, Google can claim a significant lead in the global marketshare of Google Workspace over Microsoft 365 Copilot. But does that mean Google has better products, or just better marketing?
The answer isn't cut-and-dried. While Workspace and Microsoft 365 possess broad similarities, they also diverge in key respects. The right choice depends on how these differences intersect with your goals.
The reviews I studied displayed a general consensus that Google Workspace is best for organizations which prize seamless collaboration above other considerations. Some analysts also see Workspace as the better solution for small business. Microsoft 365, on the other hand, may be the wisest choice for the security measures large enterprises require.
Google built collaboration into their office applications from the start, and they retain a wide lead in this area today. While Microsoft offers collaboration in Microsoft 365, it's neither as powerful nor as easy as that included in Workspace.
Both office suites provide basic security features, such as data encryption in transit and at rest, two-factor authentication, and anti-phishing/anti-spam measures. But, perhaps due to its long partnership with big business, Microsoft has taken a deeper dive on security, offering full-fledged data, identity, and endpoint management, as well as more capable threat and data protection.
Of course, advanced features often come with higher price-points. Small businesses may not have the budgets or the skills to implement all of Microsoft's bells-and-whistles. And if they don't operate in high-risk, high-compliance environments, like finance or healthcare, they may not need them.
One additional area where Google may have a slight edge is the inclusion of generative AI in its office suite. They recently announced they will bundle a version of Gemini, their artificial intelligence platform, in their Workspace business and enterprise plans. Microsoft offers something similar with Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. But John Pettit, the CTO at Google partner Promevo, told CRN in an interview he believes Gemini is better integrated across its office suite. According to the article linked above, Pettit particularly praised one of the tools Google offers with Gemini: "...Agent Builder is pretty amazing in terms of being able to create your own search agents and chat agents with low code."
In the end, your choice of an office productivity suite will come down to your specific needs, your fundamental business objectives, and your comfort level with making trade-offs to get the best fit. There are no perfect solutions, but there are approaches that work better in particular situations. Which is which in your case depends on your unique situation.
Next Steps: Share With — vCTO, CIO, CEO
Action Items —
Assess your security requirements to decide if your organization needs the more advanced capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot in this area.
Review both the version of Google Gemini integrated with Google Workspace business and enterprise plans, and Microsoft Copilot Chat, to determine which (if either) would help your business the most.

Office 365 to Exchange Migration: Overcoming Compatibility and Data Integrity Challenges
Migrating from Office 365 to Exchange is not a typical cloud trajectory. But for certain organizations, especially those in highly regulated industries or with on-premises infrastructure commitments, this move is strategic. While technically feasible, it brings critical compatibility concerns and serious risks to data integrity that must be addressed with precision.

Why Reverse Migration Is Gaining Attention
Not every IT strategy is cloud-first forever. Some businesses shift back to Exchange due to compliance mandates, network control, or integration with legacy systems. In hybrid environments, administrators often seek to consolidate workloads under Exchange Server for governance or policy enforcement. The challenge starts the moment Office 365 data must align with Exchange architecture.
Compatibility: A Real and Immediate Roadblock
Office 365 evolves continuously. Many cloud-native features do not exist or behave differently in on-premises Exchange. These include modern authentication methods, shared mailbox behavior, calendar sharing models, and retention policies. When data is exported, formatting, metadata, and flags may not map accurately.
Outlook clients configured for modern authentication may fail during the reconfiguration process. Autodiscover may point to incorrect records if DNS cleanup isn’t handled precisely. These issues multiply when multiple mailboxes, service accounts, and shared folders are involved. Compatibility cannot be an afterthought. It must be audited and remediated before the first batch migration begins.
The Threat of Data Loss During Repatriation
Office 365 stores data across multiple layers. Mail, calendars, contacts, tasks, and archives live in distinct locations. Repatriating this data requires extracting it in a format Exchange can understand. Exporting mailboxes to PST sounds straightforward, but issues arise when mail size limits, corrupted items, or orphaned folders are involved.
Calendars are particularly fragile. Recurring meetings often break when moved across platforms. Folder permissions may not retain their original hierarchy. Rules, categories, and MAPI properties may be lost if the migration tool does not support full-fidelity transfers.
Data integrity is more than preserving emails. It’s about keeping context, structure, and function fully intact. A partial or malformed restore can impact compliance audits and user productivity.
Avoiding Migration Disasters with Technical Foresight
Planning for Office 365 to Exchange migration must include:
Pre-migration audits: Understand mailbox size, item count, shared access patterns, and retention policies
DNS and Autodiscover configuration: Prevent mail flow interruptions and profile rebuilds
Tool selection: Choose solutions that support direct migration from Office 365 to Exchange without intermediate steps
Incremental syncs: Avoid full cutovers when mailbox activity is high
Detailed testing: Validate not just content transfer but also usability post-migration
Automate with Precision: Use Purpose-Built Migration Software
Manual exports introduce delays, errors, and inconsistencies. Relying on native methods or PowerShell scripts is rarely scalable. A purpose-built solution like EdbMails Office 365 migration software supports direct and secure migration to Exchange. It ensures folder structure, metadata, and user permissions are preserved accurately. With support for large mailboxes, advanced filtering, and incremental sync, EdbMails helps IT teams maintain compatibility and data integrity at scale.
Avoid post-migration surprises. Plan smart, validate every stage, and use a trusted solution that minimizes risk.

Cost Comparison: Is Power BI More Budget-Friendly than Tableau?
When it comes to choosing a business intelligence (BI) platform, one of the biggest factors influencing decision-makers is cost. Power BI and Tableau are two of the most popular tools in the BI space, but their pricing models differ significantly. So, which one gives you more value for your money? Let’s break it down.
Power BI: Big Capabilities, Lower Price Tag
Power BI, developed by Microsoft, is often praised for its affordability without compromising on features. The platform offers a free version, Power BI Desktop, which is ideal for individual users who want to create and analyze dashboards.
For teams and organizations, Power BI Pro is priced at $9.99 per user/month, offering collaboration features, data sharing, and integration with Microsoft services like Excel, Teams, and Azure. If your organization needs more advanced analytics, larger data capacity, or dedicated cloud resources, Power BI Premium starts at $20 per user/month or $4,995 per capacity/month.
The Microsoft ecosystem integration also gives Power BI a strong edge, especially for companies already using Office 365. This synergy means fewer additional tools and lower hidden costs.
Tableau: Rich Visuals, Premium Pricing
Tableau, now owned by Salesforce, is known for its sophisticated visualizations and user-friendly drag-and-drop interface. However, this comes at a steeper cost.
The Tableau Creator license—which includes full functionality for data prep, analysis, and sharing—costs $70 per user/month. For more casual users, Tableau Explorer is priced at $42/user/month, and Tableau Viewer at $15/user/month.
While Tableau excels in visual storytelling, the higher price point can be a barrier for small-to-medium businesses or organizations scaling quickly.
Cost at Scale: Power BI Wins
Let’s look at a simple cost comparison for a company with 50 employees:
Power BI Pro (50 users): $9.99 x 50 x 12 = $5,994/year
Tableau Creator (50 users): $70 x 50 x 12 = $42,000/year
That’s a $36,000+ difference annually, which can significantly impact your bottom line—especially if you're migrating multiple teams or departments.
Migration Doesn’t Have to Be Expensive
Worried about the cost of switching from Tableau to Power BI? That’s where we come in. At tableautopowerbimigration.com, we use AI-powered automation to convert Tableau dashboards to Power BI—fast, accurately, and affordably.

How Interactive Flat Panels Improve Team Collaboration
The modern business atmosphere depends on effective collaboration because it drives productivity alongside innovation. The traditional meeting framework fails to create smooth communication which causes team performance problems alongside work inefficiencies. This is where interactive flat panels come in, revolutionizing the way teams collaborate by providing real-time engagement, seamless integration, and enhanced communication.
What Is an Interactive Flat Panel?

The interactive flat panel system merges touchscreen capabilities with the functions of whiteboards and projectors along with computer operations. The panel provides teams with an interface to write along with drawing and sharing capabilities that let them edit documents directly on the display for enhanced meeting interactivity. Advanced connectivity features of panels allow teams to conduct wireless screen sharing and video conferences and access cloud storage services regardless of office or remote workspace.
Key Ways Interactive Flat Panels Improve Collaboration
1. Enhancing Real-Time Brainstorming and Idea Sharing
Current office practices no longer require handwriting or using static whiteboards. Teams use interactive flat panels to create ideas, mark up documents and illustrate thoughts simultaneously in real time. Various team members can provide simultaneous contributions through the interface of these panels. Team members can easily produce visualizations of their thoughts and conduct immediate alterations during strategy planning sessions and content development or mind-mapping activities with interactive flat panels.
2. Seamless Remote Collaboration
The current trend of mixed office and remote work requires business organizations to establish solutions that meld together their on-site staff with their off-site colleagues. The integration of Interactive flat panels enables remote team members to utilize Zoom Microsoft Teams and Google Meet for video conferencing so they can participate by feeling present in shared space. These devices offer remote team members the ability to see presentations combined with the option to actively discuss topics and work on shared documents simultaneously.
3. Efficient Meeting and Presentation Management
Face-to-face meetings require users to shift between equipment and setup projection systems along with managing technology connections that create significant time consumption. MS Office Legal and Corporate - Control Keys For Format Painter Have Changed.
Scenario: The Word Processing Operator was attempting to use the control key equivalent for the Paint Brush but it would not work. Tried and tried. The operator even went to reset the keyboard thinking that someone could have used those keys for a Macro name but resetting the keyboard did not do it either.
For a quick review, let’s go over some basics and discuss the focus of this write up namely the Control Keys for the Paint Brush equivalent.
Some Basics Regarding Paint Brush.
1. I place my cursor in a particular paragraph that has the formatting that I want to share with another paragraph.
2. If I click on the Paint Brush 1 X and then go to the paragraph that needs that same formatting and click 1x, it will apply the Painted format to the selected paragraph and the paint feature will turn off automatically.
3. It should be noted, that if I click inside the paragraph that has the formatting I need, click the Paint Brush 1X and then highlight the next 5 or 10 paragraphs that need that same formatting and then lift my finger off the left mouse button it will apply that Painted format automatically to those 5 or 10 paragraphs that I had highlighted.
4. Placing my cursor in a particular paragraph that has the formatting that I want to share with another paragraph and I double click (2x)! on the Paintbrush, I can click on paragraph after paragraph without any limit applying that formatting . To turn off the Paint Brush feature, I can simply press escape.
5. The Control Key equivalent to the "double click" on the Paint Brush used to be Control + Shift + C and Control + Shift + V for MS Word Versions 2003-21. But, the 365 version has changed this. So, with this method, I place my cursor in a particular paragraph that has the formatting that I want to share with another paragraph(s). For the 365 version, I now have to use Control Alt C and then go to the paragraph(s) that need the formatting and then use Control Alt V. You can then go paragraph by paragraph that needs that particular formatting that you had copied and just continue to use Control Alt V over and over again.
Final Note: The Control Keys for the Paint Brush within Power Point are still Control Shift C and Control Shift V.
6. Having this knowledge of using the Paint Brush to your full advantage along with the Control Keys is very valuable. Try it out and you will see how easy it is to use.
Knowing this info will further free you up from having to go to the right side style panel to apply ”that” style or taking the cursor under the home tab to click on the Paint Brush.
