Welcome to TealOranges & Garlic Soup Week 2024!! This prompt week is a celebration of all things Jim/Oluwande and Archie/Jim/Oluwande/Zheng. The week runs from June 23-29, 2024, with themes and prompts for each day. We are so pleased to announce the prompts for this week!

While this is TealOranges (Jim/Oluwande) and Garlic Soup Polycule (Archie/Jim/Oluwande/Zheng) week, we encourage and welcome any mix and match ships as well! Feel like writing Jim/Zheng? Go for it! Want to draw some Archie/Oluwande? We can't wait!

You are welcome and encouraged to use as many or as little of the prompts and themes as you feel like. We welcome any fan creations, including art, fic, fanvids or video edits, crafts, and anything else!

Izzy didn’t reply as he stuffed more of his belongings in a cloth bag. “You deaf, Iz?” Asked Frenchie.

“Not your fucking business,” hissed Izzy, ready to descend the gangplank.

“So you’re going ashore?”

“I’m going away,” replied Izzy, blades in his eyes. “From Bonnet and his fucking crew.”

“Cool. Can I tag along?”

“No.”

Frenchie still followed him, making Izzy sigh, “You’re not bringing anything? Are you fucking stupid?”

Frenchie shrugged, shoved his hands in his pockets and flipped a gold coin in his fingers, “Nah, at any rate, we’ll be back in the evening.”

OFMD WEEK 2023

Ahoy there, pirates! OMFD season 2 is right around the corner so I wanted to organize an official OFMD WEEK to celebrate! I’ve tried to come up with some original prompts for each day, and it will run from Sunday, September 24th to Saturday, September 30th right before season 2 drops. Make sure to use the hashtag #OFMDWeek2023 so that we can locate your works and keep it all in one place. I hope many of you are able to participate and support those who do by liking and reblogging their posts, as well as reblogging this to get the word around! I’ll be posting reminders and updates leading up to it. Have fun and get creative with it!!

OFMD Week Prompts:

Day 1 (September 24th): Favourite crew member

Writers: write a fic about a character’s past or origins if they haven’t already been explored in the show. It’s your last chance to cement any headcanons into writing before season 2 adds new info to the mix on your favourite crew member

Gifmakers: freestyle/favourite character’s highlights

Artists: freestyle

Day 2 (September 25th): Music Monday

Writers: you know the drill, it’s song lyric title time!! Use lyrics from songs of your choice to inspire a story

Gifmakers: either use song lyrics from songs of your choice in your gifsets OR use your favourite song feature from season 1 in your gifsets

Artists: draw the crew/characters as your favourite bands or singers! wanna see Ed as Prince? Stede in full ABBA gear? The crew as KISS? Queen? Draw them at the Eras Tour? Get creative with it!

Day 3 (September 26th): Recurring themes/symbols

Writers: put your favourite recurring themes or symbols to action and expand them in a fic

Gifmakers: favourite recurring themes/symbols (i.e. the red handkerchief, the petrified orange, the lighthouse, the teal earring, the kraken, etc.) OR parallels

Artists: incorporate your favourite colour motif or symbol into your artwork

Day 4 (September 27th): Favourite ships

Writers: FLUFF GALORE! Since season 2 will undoubtedly serve us much angst, your mission is to write something as delightful and fluffy as can be for your favourite ships

Gifmakers: favourite ship + best moments from season 1

Artists: similar to the writers, draw your favourite ships, from canon couples to rarepairs, doing something fluffy and domestic

Day 5 (September 28th): AU/Crossover Mania

Writers: write any AUs or crossovers that you would want to see!!

Gifmakers: FREE SPACE - this is a hard one to attempt for gifsets so consider this day your day to post whatever creative, colourful, or fun gifsets you may have planned!

Artists: draw OFMD character(s) in an alternate universe OR crossing paths with another fictional universe entirely 👀

Day 6 (September 29th): Friendship Friday

Writers: prompt is found family or friendship fluff! take the time to explore in writing your favourite on screen (or not yet seen) friendships

Gifmakers: favourite crew moments or friendship moments from season 1

Artists: draw an unlikely duo and a passtime they’d both enjoy (or just any friendship from the show, this one has lots of flexibility to it)

Day 7 (September 30th): Season 2 theories and trailer moments

Writers: this is the last chance to get in any speculation fics!

Gifmakers: favourite moments and looks from the trailer

Artists: draw your predictions or your favourite outfits from the promos

Samba baby's name is Ocean

Samba was kind enough to stand in for WJW when someone else had to drop off for work.

Samba loves giving Kristian middle names: Kristian Victoria Nairn / Kristian Alexander Nairn / Kristian Valaria Nairn, Kristian Venereal Disease Nairn / Kristian Damien Nairn / Kristian Nicholas Nairn / Kristian Tabitha Nairn

There were live doves that would shit on you on set, and they shat on Samson

Kristian - In New Zealand saw weird things on the lawn of his rental place (weird creatures focused on the balcony of his room)

They really appreciate all the fans trying to save OFMD and would LOVE to get a season 3, even if only for 2 hours.

Yes, he became softer / trusting

Casting director Alison Jones - awesome at casting

Energy on set was positive and acceptance from the get go that helped

Sailing training, stunt training, sword fighting together helped bonding

Everyone on the cast was odd, and people moved out together so lots of small found family situations

Long hours together

Note: Stede's story time everyone is actually asleep, cause they've been up for like 18 hrs

Q: What's your favourite dessert, that you could live off forever?

Roach - Chocolate Mousse, really fluffy and airy

Q: What was best part of working in New Zealand?

8 hr days instead of 18 hrs days

Original Script / Deleted Scene Stuff:

In original script: Roach was going to end up with the crew of revenge, but then changed the script cause Samba would look like a kid who stole his dads jacket, so Frenchie was cap

Originally Zheng called the crew "beta" instead of "tender" but they changed it.

Innkeeper deleted scenes:

Everyone's eating soup on deck, roach was supposed to be serving people soup, and Fang says "Ah, Leroy, I'm so glad you're alive?" and Lucius goes "I'm sorry do you think my name is Leroy?"

Oluwande was crying, Jim asks if he was, he says no he gets that thing when he's around grass, and Jim says "A yeah lots of grass around here"

Other deleted scene:

Kristian saying "its sizest" doing big guy stuff

And roach says he's stuck doing tall skinnhy guy stuff

Pete asks if he's stuck doing bald guy stuff

Ewan zip lines over first and yells: "I was born to fly"

Roach zip line screams quietly cause they tell him to be quiet, and then he lands and says, "why its so sticky I wanna go back", and he tries to get back on the rope but Frenchie flys in and knocks him over.

Wee John was going to dress up as cupid, would have encouraged Stede and Ed, who would have danced to "At Last" and then when and boned.

This is my first time participating in a DTIYS and also my first time drawing Ed / Blackbeard! I have been in the ofmd fandom for a very few weeks and haven't had a chance (time enough) to draw everyone. Time permitting l'd like to draw two comics l've had in mind for a while these days...

Gentlebeard Wedding Week - FAQs

Who can participate?

Everyone can participate! Whether you're an artist or a writer, a musician or a cosplayer, everybody is more than welcome to share their art for this event. This fandom is so incredibly talented and I can't wait to see what people come up with.

Why run this event?

Since David Jenkins's announcement that no alternative home for OFMD was found, one of the main comments I have seen from the fandom is that we wish Ed and Stede got to have their wedding. I want them to have it, too. Simple as that!

What rating can fics/art be?

Whatever you would like them to be! All of the prompts will be SFW, but if you'd like to put a smutty spin on something, you are absolutely welcome to.

Can I collaborate with other creators?

YES! The artists and writers in this fandom collaborate so well, and I completely welcome people combining their talents if they wish.

Do I have to use all three prompts?

Not at all! If only one prompt speaks to you for a particular day, just use that one. If you'd like a challenge, try and incorporate all three prompts in your piece each day.

Do I have to participate every day?

No, you don't. You can create for as many or as few days of the event as you like. This is just intended to be a bit of fun, so please don't pressure or overwork yourself.

What if I've never created for this fandom before?

There's no time like the present!

hello!! im crumbling after learning that ofmd isnt being renewed and ive been dying for new frenchie x reader fics for months. I will take literally anything to heal my broken heart🙏

This is my first time writing a story centered around Frenchie, so I hope I did this sweet goof justice.

Summary: Frenchie comes up with a plan to get you out of work, and it ends with your first kiss.

Playing Hooky 

You had joined Stede Bonnet’s crew on The Revenge around the same time as everyone else, just before Blackbeard’s takeover. Captain Bonnet’s easygoing approach to piracy appealed to you, but the atmosphere drastically shifted when Izzy Hands took over as first mate. You preferred first mate Button’s quirky leadership on deck over Izzy’s constant yelling. As the crew stirred awake, preparing for the day, you sluggishly found your way to the galley, easing into your normal seat across from Frenchie. 

Frenchie greeted you with his usual broad, goofy grin and a wave, all the while engaged in a lively debate with Wee John. Frenchie was adamantly claiming that his friend had once encountered a siren, while Wee John countered that sirens weren’t real. Lately, spending time with Frenchie became the primary reason for you to leave your hammock and get to work each morning. Over the past few weeks sailing for Bonnet, you had developed quite a crush on him. It was hard not to, given his contagious energy, warm brown eyes, sweet nature, and lovely singing voice. He was undeniably handsome and always fun to be around. 

While engrossed in Frenchie’s animated discussion about the dangers and allure of Sirens with Wee John, you failed to notice Izzy Hand’s entrance into the galley. He swiftly began assigning tasks to the crew, designating you for lookout duty before departing as quickly as he came. Today, Frenchie was assigned to kitchen duty, and the thought of spending the day so far apart from him was disheartening. As Izzy left, you slouched over, letting out a sigh as your head rested on the table. Being the lookout had become a repetitive and utterly boring role for you this week. You found it both tedious and isolating. Izzy insisted you ascend to the foremast top to scan the horizon for other ships, but in reality, it often meant hours of staring into emptiness. 

“Well, that’s no good.” Frenchie sighed, prompting you to glance up. “This makes it the fourth time this week you’ve been on lookout.” 

“It is what it is,” you grumbled in response. A part of you was surprised that Frenchie had been keeping tabs on your ship duties, but you shrugged it off. 

“I say, lookout duty is for the birds.” Frenchie replied with a mischievous grin. “So you should play hooky with me instead.” 

Frenchie’s tempting proposal lingered in the air. You considered the ease with which he could slip away during kitchen duty, but a nagging feeling warned you that Izzy would notice your absence right away. 

“Izzy would catch me if I’m not at my post, Frenchie,” you chuckled. “How would that even work?” 

“I’m thrilled you asked,” Frenchie replied with a confident air. “Fortunately for you, I’m a master at the art of espionage.” 

“Good feckin’ luck with that, you two,” Wee John replied, abandoning the table and wanting no part in Frenchie’s antics for the day.

“Alright,” you replied, returning Frenchie’s eager smile. “I’m in.” 

As Frenchie outlined his plan to free you from lookout duty, you couldn’t shake the feeling that the odds of getting caught were almost certain. Yet, the idea of spending extra time with him today made it seem worth it. Following his instructions, you retrieved an extra set of your clothes and a hat from your belongings. 

On your way back to the galley, carrying your extra attire, you unexpectedly crossed paths with Roach. He nonchalantly twirled his meat cleaver while making his way to the kitchen. Engaging in casual conversation, Roach abruptly halted as he observed Frenchie lugging two large bags of flour and a cantaloupe from the nearby storage closet. 

“Now, wait one second,” Roach sang in a threatening tone, continuing to swing the meat cleaver in his hands. “What’s happening here?” 

You observed Frenchie’s face shift into panic as he held the bags of flour. “Oh, well, that’s a great question.” Frenchie stammered. “The captain, you know him, wanted some extra cushions for his cabin. So, I thought, why not these bags of flour?” 

“And the melon?” Roach prodded Frenchie, not sounding convinced. 

“The melon?” Frenchie questioned, momentarily forgetting it was still in his arms. “Oh, you know. He wanted a melon to eat while he sat on the cushion?” Frenchie replied unconvincingly. 

“We’re making a dummy that looks like me, so I can get out of lookout duty today,” you quickly interrupted Frenchie, sensing Roach wasn’t buying his story. 

“Oh nice. Why didn’t you say so?” Roach replied jovially, moving into the kitchen and sticking his knife into the wood of the counter. “Just bring that stuff back once you’re done.” 

“Yes sir.” you replied with a grin, before you and Frenchie headed off to his and Wee John’s room to craft your makeshift lookout dummy. 

You stuffed your spare clothes with the sacks of flour, carefully arranging the cantaloupe on top and capping it off with your hat. Stepping back, both of you surveyed your creation, with Frenchie biting his finger and tilting his head as if appreciating a work of art. 

“Is this what I look like?” you chuckled, examining the scarecrow-like figure before you. 

“Oh, lord no. A dummy could never capture your essence,” Frenchie replied with a bashful grin, causing your heart to flutter for a moment. 

“How the fuck are we going to hoist this up to the foremast without anyone seeing?” you suddenly questioned, once again doubting the feasibility of Frenchie’s plan. 

“Piece of cake,” Frenchie replied confidently. “I’ll whip up a distraction, get everyone’s attention, and give you time to sneak the dummy into place.” 

Crouched on the stairs leading up to the main deck, you and Frenchie had managed to haul the bags of flour, masquerading as you, up the stairs. Frenchie swiftly ascended to the deck, creating a commotion to divert everyone’s attention. From your vantage point, you observed him shouting to the crew and Izzy Hands about something in the water at the ship’s rear. Racing across the quarterdeck, Frenchie reached the poop deck, peering over the edge. Suddenly, the ship lurched, caught in an unexpected wind, causing Frenchie to lose his balance and, with a large splash, disappear overboard. 

Your mouth fell open in astonishment, unsure if this was part of Frenchie’s planned distraction or an accidental plunge. Regardless, the unexpected loss of Frenchie at sea triggered chaos on the deck. Most of the crew rushed to the ship’s rear, where Frenchie was standing moments before. Seizing the opportunity, you sprinted to the foremast and began scaling it with the dummy slung over your shoulder and the cantaloupe tucked under your arm. Wee John, seemingly unfazed by Frenchie’s abrupt departure overboard, chuckled at the spectacle of you ascending the rigging above him. Amused, he made no effort to draw attention to your climb. 

Reaching the platform, you arranged your doppleganger, having it lean against the mast’s railing. Securing the dummy in place with a length of rope around the wooden beam, you hastily tucked the melon into the neck opening of your clothes and placed your hat on top. There was no time to check how realistic it looked from below deck, instead you hurriedly retreated to the galley, your agreed-upon meeting spot, as the crew worked to fish Frenchie from the sea. 

A short while later, Frenchie found you in the galley. He was wearing a knitted sweater, which you assumed Wee John had made for him at some point, along with dry pants. 

Upon spotting you, Frenchie triumphantly lifted his arms, clearly relishing the success of his plan. 

“Master of Espionage,” he declared, his grin widening as his hands remained raised in the air. 

You hopped onto the kitchen counter with a chuckle. “Was it part of your grand plan to fall into the ocean, great master?” you teased. 

Frenchie grabbed an orange from the counter, likely an extra that Roach hadn’t used for breakfast, and began peeling it. 

“Not initially. That’s the beauty of being a master, babe,” he replied coolly. “Plans just come to you suddenly.” 

After peeling the orange, he handed you the other half with a genuine smile, lifting his portion for a toast. “Cheers, my dears,” he whispered. 

You were convinced that Frenchie’s plan had really changed the moment he hit the water, but his confident demeanor did have a certain charm. You both finished off your halves of the orange, placing bets on how long it would take for Izzy to realize your absence. laughter ensued as you marveled at how absurd this day had been so far. 

The peaceful camaraderie in the kitchen was abruptly interrupted by the furious shouts of Izzy Hands calling your name. Frenchie seized your hand, swiftly guiding you to the pantry in the galley, where you both concealed yourselves. The echoing stomps of Izzy’s boots resonated near you, prompting you to stifle quiet laughter. Frenchie placed his hand over your mouth, setting off a shared fit of laughter, and in response, your hand covered his mouth. 

When the echoes of Izzy’s boots faded in a different direction, you both removed your hands. “I’m absolutely fucked.” you laughed. 

As your gaze returned to Frenchie, you caught him looking down at your lips before his eyes swiftly met yours again. The confined intimacy of the small pantry suddenly became palpable, and you sensed the mood shifting. Frenchie leaned in, and his lips gently met yours. They felt soft, carrying a lingering sweetness from the orange you both had shared just moments before. Hesitantly, he leaned away after the kiss, meeting your eyes once more with a shy smile, seemingly trying to gauge your reaction. 

“Frenchie, you kissed me,” you whispered, a soft smile playing on your lips. 

“I couldn’t help it,” he whispered back. 

This time, you took the initiative, leaning in for another kiss. Wrapping your arms around him in his warm sweater, you drew him closer. The fear of Izzy Hands faded away as you both lost yourselves in the sweet, stolen moment. 

The pantry door swung open abruptly, revealing Izzy, red with anger, brandishing a cantaloupe. 

“What the fuck is this?” Izzy spat at the two of them. 

“A cantaloupe,” you replied, causing Izzy’s face to scrunch even more with rage. 

“I thought Mr. Spriggs was the only seductress on board, but I guess I was wrong,” Izzy continued. “This little trick has earned you barnacle duty for the rest of the day.” With that, Izzy quickly turned to leave, dropping the cantaloupe onto the ground. 

Frenchie shot you an apologetic look, but you responded with a giant grin. “Totally worth it,” you said, giving him one more quick kiss before following Izzy. 

“Go, Frenchie,” you heard him whisper to himself when he thought you were out of earshot, causing a smile to creep across your face. 

“Go, Frenchie,” you repeated quietly to yourself as you made your way to the deck.

Updated predictions for OFMD season 2 episode 8: Finale

These are my updated predictions based on episodes 6 & 7, the trailer for episode 8, and all the BTS from the previous weeks

I knew that Izzy was gonna be caught, but now I know the whole crew of the Revenge will also be captured, along with Spanish Jackie and most of the Republic of Pirates. In fact the only people not caught during the raid, are Zheng and Stede who escaped to the forest, and Ed who completely missed the Raid after he left Stede.

As I previously predicted, Stede and Zheng will be hiding out together under the bridge from episode 1. Stede will comfort Zheng since Ricky wiped out most of her fleet. The English, however are hot on their heels, and their chase leads them to the beach.

Meanwhile… Ed has been living his regular life as a fisherman. I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes across one of Stede’s letters in a bottle while fishing. This prompts him to find Stede and return to the Republic of Pirates, which he finds in ashes. He will then fish out his leathers and reunite with Stede on the beach, which will mirror Stede’s dream sequence from episode 1.

Zheng, Ed and Stede will then liberate the crew from the English, and then use the uniforms of the slain soldiers to infiltrate the Navy. I don’t know what their goal is, perhaps revenge, perhaps to take back the republic, or stop Ricky once and for all. Let me know your theories.

The mission is a success, and they escape on the Revenge, however Izzy is badly hurt, and Wee John is missing from the rest of the promotional material. I now think the funeral scene I discussed in a previous post could come after their escape. Which raises the possibility that Izzy could die. I don’t know for sure - it could go either way. On one hand, I think it makes more sense for Wee John to die and Izzy to live, as discussed in my previous prediction posts. However, most non-spoiler reviews of episode 8 emphasise Con’s performance, and Wee John isn’t mentioned. This could indicate a dramatic death scene for Izzy, and that Wee John just might be absent from the second half of this episode like he was in episode 5. I am on the fence over who will die. Let me know your theories and I will place my bets with my episode 8 bingo sheet next week.

As for how the episode ends, we can see in the trailer that most of the crew will continue to sail on the Revenge, with Zheng as its new crew member. Although we don’t see Ed or Stede. This could mean that they have chosen to retire together, but my prediction is that they choose to continue to live at sea as pirates, BUT, under their own terms. The antagonist of this series is normality, and Stede from the beginning has asked what if we did things differently? I think the show is setting up this new form of piracy that would work for both Stede and Ed. What if instead of raiding and pillaging, they act as a beacon of light and a safe space for other pirates wishing to change. By saving these lost souls at sea, the crew sound less like pirates, and more like… mermen?

The candle on the bedside table barely lightened the room. Izzy arched his back when hands ran into his locks. Frenchie's hands. Izzy bit back a moan pressing his lips on Frenchie's.

"You're doing it again," said Frenchie between kisses. "You don't owe anything— I just got you tea."

"What makes you think I'm doing it as an exchange?" Asked Izzy.

"You always do."

"Not always. Not today. Can't I just let you fu—" Izzy choked on his words as Frenchie started driving his hips into him.

Izzy's feet hooked around Frenchie's back, "Shut up and fuck me, fucking twat."

"I didn't want you to be worried," Olu said. Then he sneezed again and fumbled around in the bedside cabinet for a new handkerchief. Archie handed him one.

Jim was looking at him like he had personally betrayed them. "We're family, Olu. We tell each other when we aren't feeling well. You'd want me to tell you if I was sick. Were you feeling sick last night? When you went on watch? In the rain?"

Olu sniffled miserably. His head was starting to hurt. "Yeah," he admitted with a sigh. "A little bit. I thought it would pass."

"It hasn't," Archie observed.

"Sorry," Olu said.

Jim sighed. "It's not your fault. I guess we're all a little too used to being independent - having to be independent. But we don't have to anymore, yeah?"

Olu smiled. "Yeah."

"Lie back," Zheng told him. "Let's get you settled under the covers. Roach is making you garlic soup."

As Zheng pulled the covers up to Olu's chin, Jim got into the bed behind him and spooned up close.

"Sleep," Archie said. "We're going to take turns taking your watch this week."

As far as I know there's no official OFMD Aro Ace Week account on Tumblr (yet?), but I thought I'd share the prompts here anyway in case anyone is interested:

Hey lovelies. It's been two years. Two years since OFMD started the journey to bringing all of us together. I know a lot of us are later to the party than others, but I just wanna say thank you to OFMD for helping so many of us feel loved, and included, and safe-- and for this fandom for always being so welcoming.

Whether you've been here since the first trailer was shown, or since the cancellation of s2, you are part of this found family and we're so happy to have you.

I know a lot of folks are worried right now, and we've been going for so long, but we have something to celebrate today! 2 years! Can you believe it?
