thinking about Themes and Characters. they're good.

#currently thinking about l&co and the way it deconstructs the concept of 'character doomed by the narrative'#it sets up a tragedy and starts flying death flags and then asks 'why is this inevitable? is it really?#he believes it is; is that the cause of this or are there other forces at work?'#it says 'it's worth trying to save someone even if it's doomed. even if you fail. even if it's not within your power.#you get no promises or guarantees but that which seems inevitable might not be in the end.'#it says: 'you cannot save someone just by loving them but it is a very important start.'#idk if anyone is reading this but I have to put my thoughts SOMEWHERE #the way the fight is always against despair in the end. the way their world is out to kill them and all they have is each other #but that matters and they can and do make a difference #ok ok done for real #tag ramble

in the nicest and most non-confrontational way possible. i feel like some of you think that anything that isn't directly openly spelled out for you within a story is "missed potential" or "unexplored." like. sometimes there are implied narratives. sometimes the point is that you as the reader are supposed to think and draw your own conclusions and participate in the story. the writers not directly spelling every little detail out for you doesn't mean that the story is poorly written or missed its own plot details somehow. PLEASE.

#if i get one more comment referring to zelda's draconification as wasted potential im going to lose it for real #that's not unexplored potential that is THE ENTIRE STORY.
