im just gonna ramble about Rescued AU for a bit
Fair warning, I haven't read ToTP yet, only a synopsis, so my knowledge Tifa's experience in Midgar is a bit lacking rn. but like, this is most Tifa's side but feat. Cloud
Starting in Nibelheim, directly after Cloud throws Sephiroth into the reactor and stumbles down the stairs, Zangan arrives on scene to rescue Tifa. iirc in canon R&D would have found Cloud and Zack first? I could be misremembering. Not in this world, however.
Zangan doesn't know what had happened, but as he picks Tifa up, he notices her hand outstretch. With what little conciseness she has, Tifa recognizes Cloud on the stairs. Zangan decides to take Cloud as well, clearly he was a friend of Tifa's.
He leaves Zack.
He leaves them with the doctor in Corel, Tifa's side of things still stays pretty similar. She woke up in Midgar after a month and needed additional PT. Cloud's injury was much more substantial. He woke up shortly after Tifa, but remained bedridden for weeks. No SOLDIER healing this time.
Between their 2 treatments, the expense is massive. Tifa starts working to get it covered while Cloud's out on bed rest. He HATES not being able to help, and it takes everything from the doctor and Tifa to convince him to rest. They reason that if he gets up now, he'll hurt himself worse and will be in an even less ideal situation.
Once Cloud is out and about, he starts picking up odd jobs, fixing miscellaneous machinery, handling packages for a variety of clients, even "taxiing" on occasion. He's not fond of that last one.
With what little free time they both had, Tifa taught Cloud some of the things she'd learned from Zangan, at first to help with his recovery, but eventually morphed into other aspects of Zangan's martial arts.
They're pretty tight knit, but Tifa is really the only one getting to know other people. Tifa, quite literally, dragged Cloud into her friendship with the Avalanche trio.
Cloud mostly lurks, he's frustrated with the debt and takes on some responsibilities hunting monsters in hopes that it will pay better. Using the skills he learned from Tifa and some basic sword training he learned in the infantry, he sets off. And he does a pretty good job.
But it's tiring work, and even after 2 years since the Nibelheim Incident, Cloud's injury still leaves him limited.
By the time the game would start, Cloud has already joined Avalanche, they had his and Tifa's back while they were getting back on their feet, and Cloud certainly wasn't against getting back at Shinra.
One day, Cloud is going about his business, sees a limping figure pass by the train station. A limping SOLDIER. In an old uniform.
Zack.
Riddled with bullets, it's a miracle the man is still alive. Zack couldn't be happier to see a familiar face. After some coaxing, Cloud gets him to the bar, despite how "fine" Zack claimed he was.
And the story continues on as "normal"(it's not normal, so much gets out of wack later because Cloudhas no connection to Jenova, but someone else doessssss :3c)

Heard about TK wanting to write WW for 100 issues and do a Trinity spinoff?
Yeah.... that's the word on the street 😔
To be honest with everybody though, I don't think he's hitting 100 issues. I think Tom King THINKS he will be writing 100 issues of WW comics, but I'm very skeptical. Like it's true he got pretty close to 100 issues when he was writing Batman, but that was during Rebirth, when comics were being published twice a month. At a normal monthly pace, 100 main title issues works out to be a bit over EIGHT YEARS. Even with specials and annuals and possible events (or the Trinity spinoff) compressing that timeline, there's still no way in my mind that Tom hits 100 issues in any less than five years. He spent three on Batman. You know, Batman, his #1, the guy he has to bring up every issue? Do we really think he's going to spend over twice as long on Diana?
Like personally I'm just not convinced that Tom King cares enough about Wonder Woman to write her for that long. Like I think he likes her, and I think he thinks she's cool, but reading his book he seems to love to put the focus anywhere except on Diana. Like all the narration is done by the villain (meaning we don't get Diana's actual thoughts on any of this) and the backup are all TK's audition to write supersons (so we're losing page space that could be utilized to develop the current narrative in favor of possible future stories with no plot relevance)
Like idk. Tom King is talking the talk and I think he has the power at DC currently to walk the walk if he really wants to do it and his hype squad keeps sales high, but he hasn't convinced me so far with his work that he has it in him to see out so many issues of Wonder Woman, especially when Diana finally defeats the Sovereign, and if Trinity gets her own book, like what is he going to do with his remaining 80 issues? Actually telling WW stories?
It seems to me from what I've read of his WW and interviews abt it is that this "100 issues of Wonder Woman" thing is coming from his opinion that Diana deserves a 100-issue run, rather any great, passionate love for Diana that would actually motivate him to write her for that long.
So anyways, my stance is that if he's really putting in a long one (however long it may be) we just hope for the best, (Diana getting her narration boxes back and being central in her own story again, Trinity getting booted back to Themyscira to be forgotten raised offscreen, etc.) and try to make the most & wait it out

Hey, I know you're a Projmoon fan, I guess I'm curious because I'm at an impasse on what to do rn, did you play through the entirety of Lobotomy Corporation, did you just skip it entirely for Ruina, or did you read a summary/watch a cutscene compilation or let's play/something else? And what would you recommend as an approach? I've tried playing through Lobcorp but it's just extremely tedious and I'm considering skipping it to get to something I think I'll like more (Ruina)
oh!! ok my answer is a little bit complicated tbh; bc i havent. played any of the series at all. WAHAHA
what i personally did was um. attempt to watch an incomplete lobcorp lp ==> couple months radio silence ==> watched one (1) day of gameplay from a friend (for one boss fight specifically) ==> got recc'd summaries i slowly watched thru ==> couple months radio silence. ==> watched someone else's (actually complete) lp ==> (rabbit hole'd) summaries again.
um. dont do that. JSNBGKHDBK
im not gonna act like i Know how t tackle a series like this (since it took me like 4 circles around to Actually Commit to it (and also im kind of. new. here)) BUT from my personal opinion of the series and how it carries itself, i CAN recc at least Some order of something.
TRY to play Lobcorp! which i can kinda see is already done on your end. its something i Super want to try but absolutely know i wont finish SKJFNKDJF;; the main draw of PLAYING lobcorp is the struggle. it Sucks! its Long and Tedious and the game HATES you... and that's the point! it's plot relevant. it's an experience i didnt get to feel, but can so painfully just Understand by merit of watching someone else do it, only skipping about occasionally.
tl;dr: the game loop is Telling A Story, Dragging You In-- THAT is the draw in insisting folks play it. it genuinely makes the... everything... hit that much harder. Once youve given it your best, dont feel ashamed to look for someone who's Done It! (i hear a lot of folks havent completed lobcorp themselves, so ✌)
DONT UM . SKIP IT COMPLETELY THOUGH ruina is literally a Direct Sequel to it. i think it does a good enough job at introducing the setting on its own, but i am GRABBING YOU this shit will hit fucking DIFFERENT if you Understand. also its a lovely game worth looking at and appreciating bc GOD what a fucking experience those last few days are. i do not cry that easily to stuff like this but OUGH. AUGH. H
Wonderlab??? its a webcomic thats heavily reccommended you read through, but due to um. circumstances . it doesnt seem t be feasible atm. however, there IS a synopsis up thats pretty darn good! wonderlab, iirc, isn't directly plot relevant, but DOES introduce certain important concepts for ruina. however, it's not Mandatory, as ruina Also explains these things. as far as i know, its just a fun lil kickass story in the universe taking place between series you can look at if you want :)
Play Ruina! or watch, i guess. again, i watched an lp and it kicked the shit out of me emotionally (affectionate) so honestly do what you will here, i suppose.
honestly though, these are both super fucking long-ass and ridiculously heavy games so you're probably gonna be here a while. it took me like two weeks of committed watch time t look into Properly, and that was even when i started skipping straight to cutscenes at the latter half. embrace that! i cant stop you, but id heavily reccommend at the very least watching through the gameplay loop for a good chunk of the time-- giving the story that space really hammers home the... Everything. heavily heavily recc letting it Have that space.
for ruina specifically though, definitely at least watch through the beginning and ending legs of every fight-- and at least a solid chunk of every boss fight. if you're intent on skipping round gameplay loops like i did, imean. watch the boss fights watch the boss fights these fuckers do NOT play around. i cannot applaud these games' soundtracks enough and i wont say anything but trust me trust me trust me.
ANYWAY. here's the stuff that was recc'd to me, personally! if you wanna give watching through the series a go! :]
Lobcorp LP: [x] (Commentated+Completed! I couldn't find any no-commentary ones that were finished, but honestly for its gameplay loop it Helps. Blind on his end, but he does genuinely really like the series so i give it a thumbs up ✌)
Ruina LP: [x] (Same guy :] also completed!)
Lobcorp SUMMARY: [x] (Brief, but a good opener+summary!)
Wonderlab SUMMARY: [x] (It Sure Is Wonderlab!!)
Ruina SUMMARY: [x] [x] (Actually incomplete, but goes pretty well in depth and is easy to watch+absorb.)
Alt SUMMARY: [x] (Consists of both parts of the duology! I haven't actually watched it in a while so i don't exactly remember much t say about it, but it sure is on my list!)
