So um...I watched both of the venom movies and- I loved them so much

I just wanted to rant about it a little. I feel like this has been said by literally everyone but.

They love each other. Also, Eddie just doing everything he can to carry out Venom's wishes Venom said at the beginning of the movie ༎ຶ⁠‿⁠༎ຶ

(he should've bought Venom a wig so they could feel the wind through their hair.)

It's just so sweet. Both of them smiling and watching the sunset. The music. 🥹 It's just sweet. When they split up around the beginning of the movie I screamed.

I like how Venom goes from immature wonderfully fun dude, to philosophical smort boi within seconds. It's entertaining to watch. The plot can be messy in the movies but it's still very good.

Do we need live action heroes?

To me, nothing has ever gotten me excited quite like superheroes.

I remember way back to my 7th grade. I was 12 years old, and had an incredibly difficult time that year. I did not have many friends yet, transferring into a new school, and was struggling to connect to anyone.

All I had was in that huge building was my brother, who was off dealing with high school. My grades slipped, my friends from my old school slowly drifted, and I found myself running more and more back to heroes for comfort. Whether it be movies, comics, or animated shows, superheroes helped me escape what would be the worst year of my life that far, with most of my joy and anticipation that year surrounding one singular event.

2012’s The Avengers.

All year until May I watched the trailer, looked at posters, and watched Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man, Thor, or Captain America The First Avenger to get myself ready. I remember smiling, sitting for 3 hours in line before the film to get good seats for the gathering of my heroes, a culmination of years of waiting.

To this day, movies like Endgame or No Way Home come very close, but nothing felt like that to me. And while I understand part of it was me being a child, the MCU and other superhero movies have continued to give me comfort in the best of times and the worst times. They have constantly been a force for good for me and a way for me to connect to those around me. 

Which is why I’m sad to say, things have been bleak. Not in my life, but rather in the content that has been seen as acceptable to put out. Several big companies have been fumbling the ball lately with some devastatingly mediocre chapters in their respected sagas.

Last year was an abysmal year for DC, as they produced 4 flops at the box office. With the exception of Blue Beetle (which I love), each other entry in DC’s last year ranged from forgettable to downright abhorrent (I’m looking at you Flash). I was a big fan of the last Shazam and was pleasantly surprised by Aquaman, but both felt like they were going through the motions instead of bringing us exciting fresh takes on the characters that made the original two films great.

Due to the ever growing SPUMC (Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters), we’re looking at a terrible year for superhero movies. We already had the perplexing Madame Web, with Venom The Last Dance and Kraven the Hunter to end the year. While these movies can have some fun performances, in general they feel sloppy, mismanaged, with subpar writing at best. As fun as it is to see Tom Hardy in a lobster tank, I don’t feel anything for Eddie Brock. And that sucks.

Finally, there’s the MCU.

Now, if you’re looking for me to bash entries in the MCU like The Marvels, you came to the wrong page, that’s not what this is.

In GENERAL, I like a lot of the swings they’ve taken since Endgame. Shang-Chi is still one of my favorite MCU movies. No Way Home had heart to it and wasn’t just a cash grab movie. Eternals had a vision and beauty I appreciate. Loki has one of my favorite finales of any tv show.

But they’ve been disconnected. It isn’t this seamless chapter book with a clear beginning, middle and end anymore. There is so much expansion with characters that we have no idea where they are going. To go back to just one of those I just mentioned, where is Shang-Chi? That movie was a hit, and yet we have yet to hear anything about a sequel or return.

Due to this focus on expansion, it’s hard to keep that connection with these characters if we don’t see them every few years. Where is America Chavez? Vision? Kingo? Thor? She-Hulk? This is a problem.

Couple this problem with the fact that VFX workers are worked to the bone, movies are being filmed without scripts finished, an emphasis on a multiverse storyline that doesn’t have a really clear path, and what seems like a vendetta against using comic book storylines, the films and television shows have been struggling to connect.

After all these catastrophes, you’d think it’d be a rough time to be a superhero fan. But really, it’s never been better.

Animation has been saving us.

To be fair, animation has always been respected and loved by the comic book community. X-Men the Animated Series, Batman the Animated Series, Young Justice, Spectacular Spider-Man and more have not only been people’s favorite superhero content, for many it is their in. I started by watching Spider-Man the Animated Series, and things have only gotten better from there.

Shows like My Adventures with Superman have reintroduced a new generation to Superman in a way that feels extremely accurate and fresh. It has also given us an incredibly adorable and heartfelt love story between Lois & Clark, something live action movies and shows really struggle with. Can you think of the last good couple in the MCU? And don’t say Spider-Man and MJ, because most of why we like them is because we like Tom and Zendaya.

Other shows like Invincible & Young Justice deal with heavy topics, such as grief, sexual orientation, gender identity, and trauma all in a way that feels human and real. Invincible in particular deals with grief and betrayal in its second season beautifully, all enhanced by incredible voice work from actors giving it their all.

Even the MCU has used animation in surprising ways. X-Men 97’ recently brought back the styling of the X-Men animated series, with the powerful messaging the X-Men are known for. With enhanced animation, a clear vision, and an emphasis on using classic comic book storylines, many are not only considering it a hit, but the best thing Marvel has done in years.

Even it’s more MCU heavy animated show What If had a much better second season, and while it’s not as deep or as good as the other shows I’ve mentioned, it’s worth noting it was a lot of lighthearted fun during the holidays. Definitely check out the Happy Hogan Die Hard episode.

Finally, Sony of all people gave us the best superhero film of the year last year with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. While everyone expected it to be good, I don’t think anyone expected it to be such an achievement. With incredible voice acting, a meta narrative about fans' relationship to the character of Miles, incredibly human moments and of course, a hero no one can not root for, Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse easily will go down as one of the best superhero movies ever made.

I remember the ending of the film, where our heroes are finally gathered, and Miles is faced with what seems like impossible odds, and as the music swells, Gwen Stacy asks the audience “Are you in?”

And that was the moment I felt it again. The excitement, the joy, I really was a kid again, jumping out of my seat excited to see Beyond the Spider-Verse.

So if we can use animation to tell stories that connect, that show love stories in a way we haven’t seen, action in a way we haven’t seen, utilizing and respecting comic books, all while drawing out incredible performances, why are we emphasizing live action? 

I don’t think we truly need more live action shows of B list characters. And to their credit, I think studios are noticing too. Marvel has a few more animated projects coming out, and DC will be releasing Creature Commandos this year. But they will be putting out just as many live action shows focused on expansion as they have been.

Is it time to reconsider how we tell these stories? 

I know no matter what I say, we will get live action. And I’d be lying if I were to say that many projects out there excite me. Superman, The Penguin, Spider-Man Noir to name a few.

But I think it’s time we use superheroes to go back to their roots. We should be using superheroes to bring artists and animators to the forefront. Shows like Invincible, My Adventures with Superman and X-Men 97’ give us a clear picture of what superhero media can and should be. Story driven, beautiful, and full of meaning. Something we as people can finally connect to.

I want, no I need miles to bond with the other spiderteens and form bonds with them outside of gwen and Peter. Because now he knows there's more like him and he doesn't have to be so obsessed and dependent on gwen specifically (because they really pushed that idea in this movie ughh) now he can branch out and form other connections with people who would possibly have more in common with him (black solidarity with margo and hobie helllooooo)

I just hate how they isolated him, I want this boy to have better friends. He deserves so much better than what he was given.

An ideal situation is to incorporate his friends from the comics and let him have bonds with people in HIS universe (like ummmm ganke? Whos supposed to be his best friend? Judge, maybe even Tirana) but we can only hope

I want Miles to have more friends outside of Spider Society. As much as I love the original Spider Family from Into The Spiderverse, I can't help but feel that Miles would be far too resentful and sad, and bitter to want anything to do with them after he was cast out of spider society and made into a pariah simply for wanting to save his dad.

Let him keep his distance, let him make new friends that aren't part of the society, hell, give him a goofy villain bff, or have him befriend a symbiote. I want Miles to have healthy friendships, not built on lies, isolation, and judgment. I want Miles to have friends who take him seriously and not dismiss him as that same thirteen-year-old kid who was too big for his store-bought Spider-Man costume and couldn't shoot a web properly (seriously, the fact that Gwen and Peter treated him like he hadn't grown and matured during those sixteen months they were gone pissed me the fuck off ). Let him have a responsible adult mentor that won't let him down or sit on their asses twiddling their thumbs while he's getting a fucking trashcan hurled at his head!

At this point, I'd rather have Eddie Brock be his mentor than watch Miles be failed repeatedly by the likes of Peter B. Parker.

Huffing as you walked outside letting the city’s cold air hit your body that is exposed calms you down a bit. Your so called dad pissed you off so much saying you had no permission to marry someone you love! You didn’t know where you where going but your body was on autopilot which you never realized. You kept taking in deep breaths of the cold air which soothed you.

Opening your eyes finally you saw you were on top of a roof which made you worried as you felt your breath hitched but Venom helped you calm down. We are safe Y/N,it is wheat we first met you smiled remember that fated day you met Venom,how cold you ever forget the day you met your husband? Closing your eyes you went back to that dated day of meeting venom.

You finally ran away from your father,Tony stark the man who neglected you and made the world pity you. You hated that,people pitying you. You didn’t need pity! She had made sure you had no trackers on you at all before you ran away. She found you packing stuff to leave,instead of stopping you she helped you as she knew that your mental and physical health matters more then where you stay. You were in front of a church so going in quickly you panted as you sat in front of where the priest would give his preaches you believe. Soon you felt something go in your mouth causing you to cough ver hard.

“What are you doing?” “Getting sleep as I’ll need to get a job early in the morning” Venom nodded before going into your body which made you shiver. Laying in your sleeping bag you heard Venom mumbling which helped you sleep some how.

“Y/N” snapping out of your thoughts you saw your husband’s face in front of you. “Yes love?” “We are hungry” “of course,how about I cook tonight?” “YES! WE LOVE YOUR COOKING!” Chuckling you let your husband take control and make his body so you two could get home. You enjoyed the area as you finally got away from your point of view. Venom was thinking of was to show you were his without you knowing which was a bit hard but he knows what to do.

CHAPTER 1: Old friend

Eddie Brock, talented journalist and passionate reporter. He is in a relationship with Anne Weying and of course, he has a best friend Tom Melton. Tom is Eddie's best friend since they were little. Supporting each other, but going their own ways while still sticking together, he's a great partner. And rightly so!, he'd be great as a couple.

In San Fancisco, California

A couple had gotten up to eat breakfast together before leaving for their prospective jobs. Eddie was eating his breakfast, until his phone rings. He smiles seeing the notification. -Who is, Eddie?-. -It's Tom, he just sent a picture of his plant. Flowers already came out- he said while showing her the photo of some beautiful Irises. -Wow! He's really good at taking care of plants,- said Anne, surprised to see such care. -Ha, that's how he is, he has a love for plants- Eddie said, looking at that photo again with great affection, remembering that it had been given to him on friendship day.Anne saw it with a smile on her face. -It's obvious that you appreciate him very much, Eddie, you better not leave him behind,- she jeered. Anne had met him when they started dating. He had liked her pretty quickly; he found her excitement at seeing his best friend dating someone adorable. -How could I leave the person who has been with me since I was little? He is also one of the most important people in my life-. He said with a sincere smile. -More important than me?- she teased. Standing in front of him. -They're just as important, both of them,- he said as he got up to grab her hips. A small laugh came out of her as she held his face in her hands. -I love you- he said before giving her a small kiss on her lips. -I love you too- Eddie replied with a smile. They were like that for a while before Anne broke away from him to grab her things to go to work. -I have to go Eddie, see you tonight?- Anne asked before opening the door.-Of course-Eddie said, still looking at her with his smile. -Then see you tonight.I LOVE YOU! - I shouted the last thing and then left that door. Eddie watched as he closed the door. He sat back in his chair, going back to see the photo that Tom sent him.

Eddie's job was risky. Some people do not like to reveal secrets, such as: corruption, drug trafficking, money laundering, etc. But Eddie loves investigating them, he also likes the adrenaline rush when dealing with them. But sometimes he messed up too much, causing it to have consequences. Even if he liked his job.

Right now he was in his boss's office. He had gotten her something exclusive, an interview with the director of the Life Foundation, Cartlon Drake. Wanting to ensure that their rockets are safe and that the last one was a simple anomaly. -This one is half crazy-. -I will be honest. Cartlon Drake would buy us with what he has in his pocket and turn the whole building into his garage if he wanted. Now you are going to ask him about his space program, thank them later and also say good morning-. There were a few seconds of silence before Eddie spoke. -He's a delinquent.- The man who was sitting in his chair supported his back. -Eddie, when you had nowhere to go we opened our arms to you, we love the "Eddie Brock" program, there is no better investigative reporter today. But no one is above the channel, so do me a favor Eddie, don't do your crap again- exclaimed the man.He had no choice but to accept. -Okay, okay…- he said not very convinced. -For me-. -Okay, I'll do it.- The man smiled at him when he said that -Thanks, Eddie-.

And now he was outside the building, on his motorcycle when someone calls out to him. When he sees who it is, a smile spreads across his face before answering. -Tom!-. -Eddie!- exclaimed a voice. He could swear that his surroundings lit up. -Tom!, friend, how are you?- I ask curiously. -Oh, I'm fine. Hey, Eddie, I wanted to tell you if you want to see us for a while, you know to chat- Tom said on the other end. Eddie's smile widened much more. -Of course! Where do we meet?- -What do you think…In a cafeteria! I know a good one, it's not fancy, but it works- I buffooned a little because of what he said. Eddie didn't care where his meeting would be.

He would go anywhere for Tom.

-Sounds good to me, so we'll see each other in 20 minutes?-. -Of course, I already send you the address of the cafeteria.-. -Well, bye, Eddie-. -Bye, Tom.- Eddie muttered. Then cut the call. He wouldn't like to hang up now, but he had to, plus he would see him in 20 minutes and chat with him face to face. Which is much better than talking on the phone.

With that in mind, he put on his helmet and started his motorcycle.

Time flew by for Eddie and it was time to meet up with Tom. With the location of the coffee shop on Google maps on his phone, he headed there.

When I arrive, it was as I had told him, it was not luxury, but if he said it was worth it, it was worth it. When I entered, the smell of coffee reached his nose and the murmur of people reached his hearing as well. But something that made him smile is that there were coleadora plants.

He searched among the people for the man he was going to meet, while the people paid him no attention. He went further back where there was a large window and right there he found Tom looking out, showing a bandage on his right side. This didn't bother Eddie, on the contrary, a smile appeared on his face as he stood in front of him. -Hello, Tom- I greet cheerfully. A boy with shoulder-length black hair and white skin turned to look at him, revealing a deep blue eye that also had a somewhat deep circle under its eyes. A tired smile appeared on him. -Hello too, Eddie- Eddie sat in the chair, taking a better look around seeing that there were more plants besides the vines. -Yes, this is a place you would come- he said this time looking at him A small laugh came out of Tom. -Of course you know, after all you know my tastes as if it were the palm of your hand- The laughter of both did not wait. When they calmed down, Eddie started looking at the menu. -And tell me, what are you going to order? I invite you-. That confused Tom. -But, Eddie, I invited you to that cafeteria if I did- he was going to continue, if it weren't for the fact that he was interrupted by Eddie. -Tom, please, there is no need for you to pay, I can perfectly pay for both of us, so you don't mind, yes?-. He was going to protest, but, he knew how stubborn Eddie was and how almost impossible to talk him out of it so he just gave up. -It's ok, you win-. Eddie's victorious smile appeared after hearing his defeat. - -BUT! Next time it's on me- Tom decided, pointing a finger at him. On Eddie's part, he shook his head now that he was the defeated one. He didn't understand why he didn't let him pay for everything, he didn't care how much money he spent, for Eddie…

He wanted it T̳o̳o̳ ̳m̳u̳c̳h̳ enough to worry about money.

-Okay, done deal,-he finally said. -And regarding the question- he said as he grabbed his menu looking at what it had to offer-I would like a chocolate coffee and Brownies-. Eddie looked at his own menu seeing the many options. -And I'll order a cappuccino with Cheescake-. After asking for the order, they talked about everything they did without seeing each other: what they saw, the misfortunes that happened, the funny moments that happened and how well each one is doing. All this while Eddie watched him without looking away. Without caring about people. Without caring about anything else. Only HIM. When those thoughts crossed his mind he tried to fade away. He already had the love of his life! And they were already planning the wedding.

But... everything felt...𝙁𝙖𝙠𝙚.

But he loved Anne! That was for sure, a little. I knew what this feeling was, it was love. But not a healthy love but... obsessive. He knows perfectly well, he has already had this feeling since they began adolescence and he knew the shady things he had done. But they weren't that serious! Just a bit of stealing his belongings, harassing him and… okay they were very serious. But he left that stage for the good of both of them and got a partner before they escalated the matter. And there came Anne, a loving and beautiful person who loved very much.

But, did he really want to be with her?

That question would come up in his mind a few times and he would answer them with "Of course!", or "She's the ideal girl for me." But he knew he was convincing himself not to just take Tom somewhere away from everything and everyone. But he won't let years of friendship be ruined by these feelings. It will take him to the grave if necessary. Although, can he really take him to the grave? He took a few moments to appreciate Tom who was telling an anecdote, making gestures to better explain the situation he went through. He looked so happy and sweet, not knowing the feelings that tormented him because of him. A certain thought passed through his mind. Yes, he will, even if it was hard to ignore, he will do it for him, for Tom.

What neopets would various spiderman and venom characters be?

...so, uh, I actually started asking myself this question a few months ago. And. Well. I got a little carried away with my inspiration!

I'll link to each of their lookups just for fun, if any of my followers have an account, but most of them don't have anything on there yet.

This is extremely long so it's going under a break:

We start with Jubulile van Scotter.

She gets to keep her name because it was untaken. (: I made her an Aisha, because Aishas are a favorite of mine and also most of the wig items look really good on them. I opted for a kind of sporty look for her - essentially sci-fi-ing her canon characterization as a sailor. In this world, her strongest connections are with Flash, Eddie, and Victoria Montesi.

Next, we have Eddie Brock.

Eddie is so special he gets two looks - but primarily I have focused on his characterization in the most recent run of Venom, inspired by some of the ideas put forward in #18. I've named him Meridial in the sense that Meridius is the version of Eddie who lost all of who he was. What if Eddie managed to lose all semblance of who he was because he's so wrapped up in survival? Caught between life and death, in reality only a few years have passed for him, but to him it's been millenia. It would be tragic - just like him. (:

Then - Edgy Boy McEdgeson - I mean, Dylan Brock.

I'll be honest, I don't have anything particularly special in mind for him. I just think it would be funny for Dylan to be a cute little dragon but he has EDGE or whatever. The big-ass sword is inspired by his Big Edgy Sword he has as Codex. And this version of Dylan is definitely based on Codex. His name over on Neo is Cytozyme, which after some looking up is actually the name of an enzyme that cuts proteins - it specifically is what converts prothrombin to thrombin during blood clotting. And also I just thought the name had good vibes.

Who's up? Victoria Montesi!

While not strictly a Venom character, her surname was untaken so obviously I had to create her in Neopets. She's a Zafara simply because I like Zafaras. And yes, she is holding a lesbian pride flag as well as a huge fucking wraith staff. Idk, she's a magic user of some kind.

Next we have the Venom Symbiote!

Tragedies was actually the result of a trade - I had the name Olympus sitting around so I traded for this custom. (: I love Mutant Acaras and had wanted one for many many years. In the Neopian universe, the Symbiote is more of an entity than anything else. A... space entity. It's a work in progress. But it's still definitely a symbiote, which brings us to...

Peter Parker.

His name over at Neo is Tintilie, which is actually from the elvish language crafted by Tolkien. Now, while I am not personally a big Tolkien fan, I did look it up and the name means "sparkling" or "twinkling", which I think is a hysterical way to describe someone who is literally glowing because he's radioactive. Notice how he's an Acara? Just like someone else? Yeah. ;) And yes, he's also a teacher. and YES, he is also still a vigilante.

And who is Peter, without Mary Jane Watson?

Like Eddie, she gets two looks. Her base color is Eventide, because I think it's pretty. However, the old-art style Faerie Lenny is wonderful to me, and I like that it's based on a male peacock. Also because she believes that gender is a game and she's in it to win it. Her name on Neo is "Klieglight", which is a type of lighting that used to be common on movie sets! She goes by "Kay Lynn" or "KL" over yonder. She's still a fabulous model and aspiring actress!

Who's up next? Our friend Harry Osborn! Or maybe Harry Lyman.

He's a little rainbow Meerca because I think I'm funny. And yes. He still runs the Coffee Bean. And yes, his father was still rich as hell but is now gone (not dead, just serving time). But what about Harry's family, you ask? Well, have I got good news for you, because I've also crafted into this universe...

Also yes his background is a parody of the "this is fine" comic because that's his life. Falling apart around him and he's trying to pretend everything is fine. Look how cute he is! Right now he's a Green Kougra wearing a UC Baby Kougra token, but I want to make him Rainbow to match his dad's coloring. For right now though? He is baby. And the creepy lab is inspired by the fact that right after he was born he had that touching moment being hand-fed by the Lizard. He's fine, I'm sure.

And last but absolutely not least is Flash!

While he doesn't have any tokens, this fantastic Kyrii does get two customs - one with a wheelchair and one with a cane. Why? Because he's amazing that's why. I definitely leaned most into his Space Knight stuff because reasons. He still for sure has connections with everyone listed above though!
