Hi friends!!! You may remember me making a post in past for my friend @laylaayman-blog !!!!

Layla still needs a lot of funds to reach the campaign goal. With the cost of living in Gaza, 2000 dollars does not go very far. Layla needs help supporting her family and eventually hopes to have funds to also evacuate as many Palestinian families do. Description

Pompeo Batoni’s grand portraits and numerous religious and historical commissions established him as the leading Roman painter of his day. He painted Peace and War on his own initiative, without a commission, attracting critical praise for the work’s graceful invention. It combines elements of Rococo softness and eroticism with the newly fashionable Neoclassical style. War, represented by the god Mars, is restrained by a personification of peace, who bears an olive branch.

I was thinking that whenever the Americans and European want to say "making peace" or "reconciling" or "helping someone you're not obliged to help" they say:

"extending an olive branch"

AN OLIVE BRANCH!!!!

OF COURSE!!!! THAT'S WHERE IT CAME FROM!!!!!

PALESTINE!!!

Palestine who extended the olive branch to the boats full of Holocaust survivors when the US and Europe turned them away.

Palestine who took in the Jewish survivors as citizens when the entire west saw them as a problem and tried to wipe them out.

And now the same west who tried to wipe out Jews calls US ANTI-SEMITIC,

Sparry's Fantasy:

It’s Morsestache Monday!

I love this scene.

The Morsestache is lush, vibrant and present, glowing in the fluorescent luminescence of his bunker and the vending machines. It’s a standalone character, part Tom Selleck, part Sean Connery, part Sweeney-era, all 1969.

The rest of Morse is tentative and shy, almost childlike, even a little apprehensive-not quite sure what response he is going to receive at this overture to resume their collaboration. 

For his part, Thursday is feeling his years, is embarrassed to find himself benched and demoted in front of his young protégé, and doesn’t quite know how to lead him with these debits on his ledger sheet.

Where you might expect at least a manly handshake, and a shoulder clap to reestablish connection, instead, you have a scene shot with a lot of vertical lines, indicating separation, distance, isolation, and a somewhat truncated, non-linear flow of conversation between them, with awkward gaps and silences, and unnatural speech patterns for them both. Fred doesn’t entirely turn around, and Morse hasn’t fully emerged from his cave. He reminds me of an eel, ready to dart back under a rock. We don’t see them truly face each other. They’re both protecting themselves.

It’s bittersweet and painfully awkward, as the two of them try to navigate this new reality without hurting the other or harkening back to better times which surely both of them miss terribly.
