i write all about you, over and over again. i draft and redraft, hoping to capture bits of you within the characters, erasing and writing again. i go back and change old poems - im nothing if not meticulous. i ensure i portray you exactly as you are. maybe if i get you right on the page ill understand you better in person, as if you’ll emerge from the text knowing me better too.

i’m tired of writing poems about people who will never write a single thing about me.
