Gyjo… what am I thinking about gyjo…

I like them. I like them a lot, actually. They have paralleled narrative arcs, they complement each other nicely, the romantic subtext is incredibly obvious to the point that even the most homophobic fan you know will admit they understand why people ship it… so why do I also have a problem with it?

There’s a lot of good fanart. Hell, I’ve reblogged plenty. Maybe it’s just something that’s more pronounced in fic.

I’m trying to word this correctly. My issue with gyjo has nothing to do with the text itself. I think my problem is just how people portray it in the fandom.

Maybe it’s because it’s so popular, or maybe it’s the sheer prominence of applying ‘Character A’ and ‘Character B’ dynamics without considerable regard for the characters involved, but I feel gyjo is very prone to flanderization. I believe the intersection with how ableist people are toward Johnny (intentionally or not, subtly or not) and the old tropes these two get shoved into makes it so I have trouble enjoying fics in the fandom.

I’m not saying it’s bad to enjoy certain tropes. I’m not saying headcanons are bad either. What I am saying is that writing is hard, but if you’re going to write fanfiction please have consideration for the characters you’re writing. The arcs of these two are complex and multilayered, which is why I think they have such staying power, but I also think they also provide a good opportunity for us as writers and artists to examine our biases when it comes to the portrayal of certain groups, personality types, mental illnesses, queerness, disability, etc. and maybe come out better people for it.

I didn’t want to stray too far from the original look, but wanted to go for more of a fitting mechanic vibe with the jumpsuit. So far so good, in my opinion.

re: "good girl" i think they say it once randomly as a joke and its just one of those things that gets him wayyy more than they expected it would. so now its their secret weapon and they use it very sparingly and every single time he gets super embarrassed about it but it works ill tell you what.

I like to think some of the scav kits that fish cares for have started to refer to him as metal dad when speaking to other scavs, which could be a funny revelation when he starts to pick up on scavenger language.

Also imagine a scav from a different tribe tries to eat one of fishes neurons and gets curb stomped by a bunch of the now adult scavs yelling "no eat metal dad!"

Is there any outfit you like Atreus to be drawn in and or how you mostly imagine him in your fics, what clothes and what attire?

Not the question you asked but I think I do actually like his canon start clothing the best. While the metal armor is practical and elegant in its own way, I like softer vibes. The gentle colors on him and how the fabrics look worn and loved and stitched over and over are so nice. As for what I like seeing Atreus drawn in? I don't know. Maybe nothing 😂 Maybe seeing him in his canon-type clothing more often would be cool- but then I think of all the cute ideas we keep seeing like Modern AU stuff like fun, colorful sweaters and shorts. Even if I don't particularly lean towards Modern AU stuff, it's always nice to see the variety. Or loose fabrics that he's been draped in are so nice and it's fun to see his freckles 🤭

Depends on the fics. Mischief and Foresight has him in his canon gear for the most part. A Hint of Magic is very much up to the imagination because of the vague descriptions given, though his newer outfits do come from the cloths Heimdall gives him. Any fics that take place in the canon universe I picture him in canon gear. In Your Toy, the Modern AU, I imagine colorful big sweaters in the cooler weather to show off his fun and more childish side, and regular jean-like shorts(blue or green) and still colorful baggy shirts slightly tucked in to whatever shorts or pants he's wearing. And maybe stuff he'd borrow from friends or Heimdall to play with.

#Big question here and I probably could go into depth on some fics but it'd be just me going over how I think his canon gear can look #Like in Mischief and Foresight #Atreus is in canon gear yeah but then they're there in the Snow Glode thing for a very long time! and he's then pregnant and eventually #it is showing so that would mean he can't wear his typical gear and tends to stick to being comfortable and can wear less even if it's #considered indecent because he's literally with the person that got him pregnant so decency isn't that important #So he might eventually wear a spare shirt Heimdall has if Atreus outgrows his usual stuff to get by #just a plain tunic and no armor since he can't wear it anyways and maybe blankets on top to keep warm #But it also just depends on reader imagination since I doubt fully describing an outfit is what everyone wanted when compared to plot #The fic with the most reader interpretation on Atreus's clothes has got to be A Hint of Magic because I don't think I describe anything #I leave everyone fend for themselves and think! And picture little cute Fairy Atreus in fabrics or nature stuff #Sometimes he did have pants in my mind though #like green and vaguely leaf-like #Though most times he's just wearing stuff Heimdall gave after Heimdall gives him stuff #Fabrics that he my have stitched into something new and stylish with Angrboda or maybe he just wraps it around himself #very much up to the reader #I could probably even point out what fanarts I may have vaguely pictured for some fics #Sorry this this BRICK #I'm all sleepy so I hope I make sense!#heimtreus #sunny's answers

I believe that IF Silver IS a descendent of Sonic/Shadow/Amy/anyone else, he's a descendent via adoption because the only Sonic character that I accept having kids is Vanilla.

honestly part of the reason im not a fan of the ideas of silver being a descendant of other characters we already know is because i just dont see why its necessary for them to be related ..? idk i just dont think anything that could be gained from him being shadows kid or sonics descendant or whatever is worth losing part of whats already compelling about silver and also making things super confusing. plus none of the pairings of already existing characters people have suggested as silvers bio parents make any sense, usually because its impossible from a timeline perspective but also because theyre always picking characters who would NOT have kids either in general or with the specific people theyre being paired with

#i also just kinda have a hard time imagining most sonic characters who arent already parents (so. most of them) wanting to be parents #it just does not feel right to me #i guess part of it could be an age thing . being a parent is an Adult thing and most sonic characters are not adults #so imagining them doings things that only adults do by in universe standards just feels strange and foreign to me #even though these scenarios would obviously take place a couple decades into the future #but also even when specifically thinking about it through the lens of ''would this character want to be a parent when theyre older''#the answer is usually no or idk #because there are a lot of characters where it just doesnt feel like it fits them?#sonic and rouge are a couple characters i can name off the top of my head who i know for sure would not have kids.#shadow im not so sure about either. yet he is the most common choice for silvers bio parent. pain #thing about shadow and silver is i think a timeline where shadow is actually around to meet little silver and is like #a mentor/older brother/guardian figure of sorts does kinda have potential to be interesting but i dont really want that to be made canon #but shadow straight up being his dad? idk man. not really into that. shadow being his biological dad? ive sobered up a little more now and i need to sleep but God damn man. it was so good to see the movie again. my husband was in disbelief the entire time. he both loved and hated it. he says it isnt a movie. I love the movie so much. the scene with The Phantom SPRINTING down the hall always kills me. it's such a raw shaky cam shot of him BOOKING IT i laugh so hard

and oh yeah,,, Winslow Leach. i love that tall nerd with the big blue eyes and thick-ass glasses and turtleneck sweater and fluffy hair!!! hes so fucking awkward and overly passionate and ugh! but also when he is the world's dorkiest goth bird man in the bodysuit with the black makeup im???? in love. im IN. love. i pretty much screamed in joy every time Winslow Leach was on screen bc I love that FUCKING DORK I LOVE HIM!!!! like why am I like this? why lmao

Bellefast has been coming to me in my dreams recently, in a similar way to how Monteith and Jibblie do

I find myself at The Circus, but in a sleeping quarter of some kind. And I can hear the festivities going on outside, in the big top. I'm apparently just passing through, but know everyone well enough that they let me stay on the property.

The only person I don't know is Bellefast, which is strange since he's the Ringleader, you tihnk I'd know him quite well, if I know all the clowns and performers and stagehands.

And he doesn't know me. So when he stumbles into the sleeping quarters, whiskey and candy floss on his breath, and falls into the bed, he's caught by surprise. As am I.

It feels like maybe a creative exercise? Maybe my brain wants to flesh this character out more, so it's putting him into my almost asleep brain so that I have to learn more about him.

So far I've learned he has a drinking problem.
