Thank you for asking, and sorry for being so late with my reply. I hope this is still useful to you.

This is a fascinating request. It made me realize that most fics I know focus on John freezing out Paul (with or without pining)—the reasons for that would probably be worth a separate post. So: challenging ask, thank u very much.

I also kept coming back to the way you worded it—ignores and freezes. That's highly specific, if you think about it! It includes an edge of pain and cold anger, or at the very least something unnatural: a decision to freeze, to numb, to refuse to see the other (Look At Me...).

It also feels final—or, at the very least, final-in-the-moment. How to separate this from fics in which they're broken up, not talking™, misunderstanding each other, are mad at each other (but only as a prelude to making up)...?

Does it also rule out fics in which they're not together, or fighting, or breaking-up-but-still-obsessed...never got together...?

As you can see, I might have been overthinking this, just a tad. :-) But here are some stories that, hopefully, fit your ask to varying degrees.

The wild and windy night (@zilabee) must have been one of the first J/P stories I read, and I guess I memory-wiped just how brutal (and damn good, because: true) it is. This is about mutual attempts at freezing and severing, and brace yourself: it's going to hurt. But it lands in a hopeful place. Cathartic. (Sorry, everyone, for never including it with any of my angst recs; I honestly must have decided to tuck this one away in a specially secured room reserved for the strongest stuff.)

How do you sleep (LouisWain1939) was the first fic I thought of reading your ask. If you want freezing cold, this is it. Prompt-fill for: Paul wanks to HDYS (optional: he phones John as he does it to make John listen). I love it.

Coast Starlight (bookofapril) The best canon divergence of all, in which Paul is happy with Robert Fraser (and, sometimes, Linda) in the 70's, and John is a slightly annoying shadow from the past. John is frozen out in absentia, in a wonderful Paul/Elton John conversation on Fire Island.

The Death of a bachelor (wavesof_joy): Modern AU. Paul gets married in Vegas...and it's too late to elope with John.

Here are two stories centered on the 1966-1967 "Paul refuses to trip with John" era — maybe a bit of a reach for the ask, but I'm thinking: John wants to get in, and Paul appears distant...baautiful, but not quite real...either way, these are both excellent, so enjoy: Sunday Driver (@boshemians; excellent Tara Browne cameo) and Chrysalis (cloudy_blue).

And finally, your ask made me think of two (three?) stories in which Paul freezes out John temporarily for trauma/pain/misunderstanding reasons: Brother Dearest (@javelinbk) and The Cast Iron Shore and its sequel, The Reeperbahn, by @m1ssunderstanding. In the first, John and Paul are stepbrothers as well as lovers. At first, they dislike each other, and later there is a heartbreaking break-up for your ignoring-each-other needs. The second is an AU in which Paul works as a 'rent boy' to support his abusive father, and starts a messy and intense relationship with John, leading them and their band from Liverpool to Hamburg. John and Paul love each other, but do they trust the other loves them back? No. Missunderstandings indeed—deeply painful in places—off the charts pining—and plenty of great Hamburg Beatles in action scenes...!

OK, having seen Tales of the Empire, I don't think the Thrawn stuff is as retconned as people are shouting about. Gotta get a bit puzzle-piece here - fitting pieces together - but it does all work out.

1. We don't know what Pellaeon was doing before he served under Savit, or even what he was doing while serving under Savit. His connection with Thrawn on screen could be seen as a close partnership, but honestly, could equally be a one-time introduction: Pellaeon attends a presentation on a new starfighter, Savit (if presents) grunts that it's too expensive, Pellaeon is intrigued by the design and looks up an Admiral who might be interested, forwarding the idea along. Thrawn picks it up, gets Pellaeon to arrange an introduction of his choice, they amicably part ways until Treason.

Thrawn: "I want to make sure she can fight. Sneak in my assassin to try and kill her."

Pellaeon: "...Yes, sir (?!?)"

Thrawn: "You can wait below until she wins. I'll lurk menacingly on the balcony."

Pellaeon: (mental sigh. There's worse people in the Empire, such as that blithering Moff) "Alright. Fine. Sure. Whatever. You got it, sir." (I am never working with this nutjob again.) (Two years later: kriff.)

2. Elspeth was active on Corvus, but they stated pretty directly that they were only interested in the raw materials. Lothal had specifically the fuel refinery and doomium mines. So, strip mine Lothal, harvest Corvus, assemble the parts on Corvus in the factories and ship the final pieces to Lothal for assembly, fueling, and testing. Pretty standard for large-scale production, these days - almost nothing is harvested, designed, and produced all in the same place. Even the Death Star had multiple bases for production - more, if you count the prison labor in Andor, and wherever they were shipping the raw materials from. Andor was just parts assembly!

3. They never said that Thrawn had the 7th Fleet - he said "my fleet", which is also just a term for a large group of ships. Could easily have been referring to his Task Force, which he had as an admiral, when speaking with a civilian (Elspeth) and thus using the informal term.

There's a few points I can understand people being upset about - Thrawn's no longer the TIE Defender's initial designer, although how much he may have improved on before the final design is unknown. This is in line with Legends, where we see less of a direct hand from Thrawn and more of a "collect all the genius designers to work for me" in terms of practical engineering, but we see him tinkering more in Canon, so arguments could be made either way as to how it should go. I will point out that something as complex and large as a ship would definitely not have one singular designer - that is a team effort, with the project lead's name getting stamped on the final package but a whole host of experts right underneath.

My personal quibble is that Pellaeon seems eternally stuck in his 60s-70s - this has to be at least 10 years before his cameo in the Mandalorian, and yet he looks exactly the same! Did his hair ever have color or is he just forever an old man? XD

His eyes take in the imagery of the entrance to the avenue. He takes in the scene –  the event is one of ostentatious glamour and blinding jewels; with actors and actresses scattered across much like priced antiques at a flea market. They stand in their spots for the onlookers to gawk at, to be interviewed, and to eternalise. They will remain ageless and timeless in the photographs taken today. Their photographs will make it all the way to eternity. His will age and weather to dust in the confines of his shop, and perhaps, with luck by his side, his photograph may even make it into a small crevice within his grandchild's house.

His gaze shifts to the flurry of activity where the photographers are crowding at. He moves his head to see past the heads blocking his eye-line and he sees more people racing around her, people assisting her with her dress by straightening out the creases at the edge of her seams and another rushing to touch up her makeup. He realises he’s seen a movie or two with her in it, but he can’t really recall her name. People scramble to make her look picture-perfect. But she isn't, he decides.

He notices a soft smudge in her makeup, the trembling in her hands, and a look of wrapped-up confusion on her face. It fades — very quickly — into a big smile, he almost thinks he must've imagined all the imperfections. He doesn't think anyone else noticed, aside from the ones who tried hard to fix them, but he does because he supposes that is what disengaged onlookers would do. 

If he’s being honest, he’s been flitting rather mindlessly from one overstimulating scene to another, staggering behind his brother and his brother’s co-star. That is if he could even call Atsumu a star at all, at least in the realm of acting. 

Atsumu recently cameoed for a brief few seconds, seconds so short you could almost miss it unless you truly cared about him, or about the film. The film later went on to gain one too many acclamations, and in turn, the organizers of the event decided to extend an invitation to Atsumu, and one lucky guest. The guest was hand-picked almost instantly, explaining Osamu’s current predicament. 

Osamu tried to turn it down really, he had firmly decided and he walked up to Atsumu with an apology ready and everything but once he looked at the stupid ugly grin adorning his face, he soberly agreed to join him. He found that he could rarely ever say no to Atsumu when it came to certain things.

His eyes flit up to the actress, and he notices that her smile is still present but not as big. He also notices a soft slump in her back when the cameras move to the next star — an actor this time. He doesn’t turn to look back at you, now enamoured by the actor, noticing his tastefully coordinated outfit embellished with a sweet leather jacket. He’s always wanted one, but could never truly bring himself to buy one.

The award function went by in a swift few hours, what with Osamu being asleep for most of it. He really should have taken the day off work yesterday, he thinks as he dawdles at the bar of the afterparty. He felt bad, but he has an inkling that Atsumu barely cared about his presence after a bit, what with him cozying up with a certain actress he seemed to recognise from a few movie posters that have been on the billboards of late. But he did learn the actress’ name, the one from the red carpet, when she cascaded up the stairs to pick up her award — her first SAG award, she exclaimed and went on to speak an eloquent few words, thanking so and so. He doesn’t remember the rest, but it seemed to be something akin to the dozen other speeches he heard today. 

He dawdles across, not really knowing how to interact with the people, they’re all so — trained? He’s not one for networking, he’s good at socialising, but not networking. He moves from room to room, trying to find one that’s empty, or at least almost empty. 

He’s tired and he wants to sleep but he also doesn’t want to half-ass this. And frankly, he thinks if he falls asleep before 1 am today, he will have to consider it a personal failure. So, he walks out of the room and moves on to another. He can’t tell if he’s already been here since they all look a bit alike — white walls, fancy couches, dim yellow light, sometimes a dim blue light. He walks in, and his fingers may as well be crossed, and… it’s empty. 

He hears a clang, just then. Well, almost empty, he thinks.

He looks up, and it’s you — the SAG award winner, the eloquent speaker, and the red-carpet actress. You’re wearing a different outfit now, a lot less glamorous but still something an actress would wear to an event.

“Shit!” You exclaim, but before you could bend down to pick up whatever has fallen, he picks it up instead. It looks like an earring, an intricate one at that.

“Here,” he gives it to you, and he almost drops it again, it’s surprisingly slippery against his fingers.

“Fuck,” you half-laugh in relief. “Wouldn’t want to drop that.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah,” you say as you delicately place the earrings in an embezzled case of silver. “I’d have to buy it then.”

“It’s not yours?” He asks, rather confused.

“Nope, just on loan for now.”

“Okay.”

“I don’t really like it,” you say. 

“Okay,” he responds. 

A few beats later, he asks, out of sheer curiosity, “But you could buy it, right?”

You look up, a bit surprised, but you reply, “Yeah.”

“Okay,” he says.

“Wouldn’t want to though,” you add.

“Fair enough,” he shrugs.

He isn’t really sure if he should leave the room, or if he should introduce himself, so he just stands there with the drink in his hand. He becomes all too aware of the precipitating water leaking around the rim of the cup and his fingers. He feels like he should place the drink down at before the cup slips past his fingers, so he does, and that somehow prompts you to sit. 

He promptly takes a seat on the sofa adjacent to yours. You and he sit in silence, you nursing your drink just as he nurses his.

“I’m Miya, by the way.” He says after sitting silently for a bit. He finds that it’s nice — the silence, you look like you wanted it — but something prompts him to talk so he did. “Miya Osamu,” he clarifies. He always does.

“I know,” you say.

“You… do?” He asks, letting the confusion sit on his face, with a tilted head, and squinting eyes.

“Yeah,” you say, and he waits. A beat later, he realises that you are probably not going to elaborate. 

“How come?” He asks, feeling a bit too curious for his liking.

“Hmm,” you say inquisitively. “So… you’re telling me you’re not the blonde guy dancing shirtless on top of a kitchen table,” you ask. 

He looks confused but he peeks out the window, which displays another room in sight, one that has his brother, joyously, and drunkenly dancing atop a cluttered table to a crowd of people. The amusement in your tone is not very evidently present, but he supposes that makes it all the more amusing.

“Yeah,” he chuckles and shakes his head. “Yeah, that’s not me.”

“Right,” you smile. “Good to know.”

The two of you sit again in the gregarious silence as you take a sip of your drink and slump further into your chair, twisting a bit till you found a comfortable position.

“I could tell though,” you say after a few moments of silence, and he looks up at you again. “When you walked in,” you continue. “I could tell you weren’t Atsumu.”

“Could you?” He asks, interested again in this conversation, and in you.

“Yeah, I have had the pleasure of meeting Atsumu Miya, and you, well, you aren’t him.” He isn’t sure how to take it, he never is sure about that, but he decides to take it with grace per usual, as he prepares his words.

“You have a calmer quality to you,” you say before he could say anything. 

He doesn’t say anything. He takes a sip of his drink, “You could tell that with… what? All of the 5 seconds I took to walk into the room?” He asks, earnestly. 

“Yeah,” you respond almost instantaneously. He looks up at you now, and he finds that you’re staring at him. 

“Okay,” he says.

You smile and go back to nursing your drink again. He continues to stare at you, and he sees a tinge of smudged makeup around your upper lip, but your hands are firm now as you take a sip of your drink. And he smiles, he thinks you look properly beautiful.

The Adventure Time: Distant Lands special “Together Again” was an afterlife-spanning adventure of countless callbacks and cameos, and began with one of the most delightfully audacious cold opens I have ever seen! What an absolutely delightful saṃsāra of an adventure! I really wanted to have this review be a single lengthy video, but my depression has been a constant diabolical tranch, and I currently have no idea when I’ll regain my capability and zest to make more videos. I (obviously) hope that I will be able to return with more content sooner than later. This chunk of the full review was (mostly) created shortly after “Together Again” originally premiered way back when. I've been sitting on it all this time since, but now that a (hyperbolic) eternity has passed, I finally decided to go ahead and slice the review in twain.

2.  Soft -- Theron snuggles with Eva Corolastor (smuggler oc) early in the morning, before he has to go...

3.  Anniversary -- Jace Malcom, a stickler for etiquette, arrives with an appropriate first anniversary present for Eva (and Theron). 

4. Starlight -- After finding Nok Drayen’s treasure, Eva takes Corso Riggs, Risha Drayen, and Bowdaar somewhere special to celebrate.

5. Amber -- Arcann seeks redemption in the form of Darth Marr’s lightsaber, with the help of Talos Drellik.  I’ve already decided I’m going to re-edit this for a larger work in the indeterminate future.  Cameo by Ramesses (Sith Warrior OC)

6.  Stretch -- Jace watches Satele Shan walk through her lightsaber katas as he drafts a critical sales pitch.

7. Cloak -- Jace deals with the crisis of the day, thanks to his brother, Kal Malcom.  I’m mentioned Kal in the past, but this is his first appearance as a character.  Let’s just say he’s different from his big brother.

8.  Callous -- Eva and Theron spend time together at the firing range.

9.  Breezy -- Rass Ordo talks with Torian Cadera and thinks about Mandalorians in love.  Then he meets Fria Whitcord (consular OC). 

10.  Thunder -- Athene Corolastor tends to Eva during her first thunderstorm.  Athene has been illusive as a narrative voice until now.  Instead of the ethereal, light figure she looks like, she’s definitely coming out with a harder edge than I anticipated.

11.  Immaculate -- Arcann goes to see his mother Senya Tirall for an important appointment.

12.  Shell -- Eva goes on her first mission with Theron after the carbonite freeze.  This is a heist fic, with background bickering from Lana Beniko and Koth Vortena.

13.  Pride -- As he holds their son Argento (Argo for short), Theron talks to Eva about the pitfalls of parental pride.  This does have some sad feels in there, but everyone is safe and happy here.

14.  Free Space:  Heartbeat -- Theron goes on his first mission since Ziost, guided through the guts of Zakuul by Marcus Trant.  He takes a detour to visit someone.  This is the long one of the bunch, at 1800+ words.

15.  Reward -- Things weren’t always bad with Darmas Pollaran.  A brief look at the beginning of the relationship between Eva and Darmas, right after Balmorra in Chapter 2.

16.  Glow -- A fluffy, slightly risque fic on Copero with Eva and Theron: they have plans.

17.  Blessed -- Corso gets to know Guss Tuno shortly after Hoth. 

18.  Glide -- Theron races in his first swoop competition in front of Jace, a fellow former swooper. 

19.  Loop -- Eva, Corso, and Hylo the cat arrive on Coruscant for the first time.

20.   Sink -- The state of a sink and the surrounding environs can reveal a lot about a person.  This seems to have been a favorite with readers. :)

21.   Tender -- For once, Lana gets hurt, and her friends are there for her. 

22.  Remember -- Eva experiences her first “Eternal Fleet Remembrance Day” with Theron.

BTS: I’ll write a DVD commentary about my personal favorite passage from [that fic]

OMG thinking about this fic for the first time since 2019. It’s been ages, so I’m just going to read through it and comment on anything that comes to mind!

So for context, the main premise of this is basically my take on the obligatory vampire period sex trope with alutegra lmfao. But specifically imagined as like a once a month no strings attached arrangement where integra REFUSES to ever acknowledge that there is like anything going on between them whatsoever. Mostly because she just can’t bear to actually unpack anything about their dynamic.

I tend to interpret Integra as just incredibly overworked and exhausted and also just. kind of emotionally stunted from having to bear the burden of acting like an adult from the age of twelve. She only knows how to compartmentalize and move on.

So this is obviously scene setting, leaning into the Tropes and horror angle. I always like making clear that Alucard is scary and gross lmao, and also that Integra’s super desensitized to it. This bit particularly though I also wanted to convey that he’s trying really hard!! It’s showmanship for her, he’s trying to put on a face that he thinks she expects and will be into.

So the fic takes place over the backdrop of a storm and the power going out. I think in context of the single one shot it feels a little jarring tbqh because of how things stop about twice to address it, but this fic fits into a continuity of a longer chapter fic I never actually wrote the entirety of. (Maybe one day?) And I think more mundane asides work better in that context. That being said it’s a (somewhat heavy handed?) metaphor. Integra just automatically blames him. He’s not correcting her, but it’s also like actually not his fault, and that comes up later. Idk tying into her perception of him as just more collected and in control of things than he actually is.

I’m generally very drawn to ship dynamics where one character just Can Not deal with being loved. But particularly in this case I think she just can’t like morally and ethically square it, because she feels immensely guilty for the whole… eternal servitude aspect but also doesn’t know what to do about any of it.

I think conversely Alucard truly just doesn’t care. He’s being honest when he asks if it matters. Sure, maybe their entire dynamic is fucked, so what?

This is condensed to see mostly the dialogue. I had a lot of fun with this back and forth! and like Alucard as a temperamental, mercurial type.

The return of the power outage subplot lmao! The Walter cameo was fun to me though. It’s really abrupt and it shakes up the mood a lot. I love writing a very over attentive Walter, perhaps because he’s perpetually feeling guilty…

I also just have a fun time writing him as a very intense mothering type. Kind of unsure how to care for Integra, especially now as an adult where she does not need caring for.

Anyway that last paragraph is a fairly crucial misunderstanding of Alucard I think. Again she doesn’t want to consider him being emotionally involved in anything! He does lash out and like deliberately fuck with her a lot but a) this would NOT be the time b) she views it as like this is just something he does as opposed to like letting herself see why.

And he plays into that perception! He’s like don’t mind me, I’m just silly!! Because admitting to genuine vulnerability is fucking humiliating and also when not in the heat of the moment, being bitter about the fact that she might like actually be grossed out by the prospect of him being in love with her, he absolutely knows that if they Have That Conversation she is going to fucking dump him entirely lmao. So he’s trying to shut the fuck up and not ruin things

And yeah this just further solidifies the points I was trying to make earlier. This fic is not subtle lmao. And if it wasn’t already clear, I just really like getting into Alucard being genuinely fragile.

Generally this fic doesn’t *resolve* anything between them. I don’t think anything I’ve ever written for these characters had a real resolution or solving of problems, just because there’s too much baggage to actually solve anything. But I think they end it with a slightly better understanding of each other. And Integra still has just as many issues with it rip.

Idk if this is potentially annoying to anyone who’s read it and liked the softer ending where she asks him to stay the night regardless of the dramatic conversations. But uh…. in the larger continuity that this fic falls into she’s absolutely going to start avoiding him after this lmao. Which Alucard, in turn, is not going to take well! They’re very dysfunctional.

Which isn’t the complete end of the romantic relationship either, because their boundaries are atrocious. But yeah this fic is def not the end/entire scope of that conflict.

(Archive) Christmas movie of the day: Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)

Originally Posted: December 5th 2021 Well, it's technically a TV special. It also doubles as bad movie of the day because holy crap, what were they thinking with some of this stuff? Anyways, since the Mouse now owns the franchise let's have some fun with that one product they're not likely to ever claim over (for the most part, it has one good bit they do claim), it may as well be public domain.

So…Star Wars mania. Back in the late 70's the movie took the industry by storm with it's fun characters, groundbreaking visual effects, genre pastiche of a high concept premise and rather campy tone that came in high contrast with the more depressive and grounded films of the era. So to no one's surprise a sequel was greenlit, but in the meantime to cash on the trend they made this fiasco. It's not even the only crappy and cheap Star Wars special from the 70's, but it's certainly the most infamous.

Revolving around "Life Day"(aka a non descript Holiday in order to not play favorites), this film is about Chewbacca's family, and both Han and Chewie's attempt to leave the Wookie back home for the holidays while the Empire soldiers are looking for them. In the meantime, they cram all sorts of special numbers…and with maybe one exception not a single one is remotely good. You have multiple musical numbers without a thing to do with the plot, in universe tv commercials, jokes with a crossdressing cook on TV, a human looking alien drinking with the top of his head(he has a hole there), clips that are easy to take out of context to make the grandfather look like a pervert, and cameos by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher when they really don't want to be there(they even look…stoned? The later certainly is).

The one good bit? Boba Fett's first appereance in a rather cool animated short.

It's a bizarre clump of nonsense that is enjoyable solely because you wonder what the hell was going on in their heads. It will certainly haunt George Lucas for eternity.

Debating on my next Elden Ring Build, please gimme your thoughts!

Under the cut I’ll describe builds I already have, and please in the notes talk about your own builds!

Alright I’ve got a few characters, 2 of which have been rebirthed into a new character/build. Here they are, in the order I made them

1. Veteran Blood Priest - Aegon: this being my first character, it went under a few revisions. I don’t remember exactly what build I was trying to run with initially, but as soon as I defeated Mohg and got the Sacred Spear; everything had to change. I love this weapon, it’s probably my favorite in the game. I revamped my character immediately into a wall of armor and poise, every stat that wasn’t put into stamina for that express purpose was poured into Arcane for max damage. With the Veterans armor and the bullgoat talisman, I could almost always activate the weapon art uninterrupted, and it would even melt bosses who can’t bleed. I went into NG+ and finished near every boss in maybe 12-15 hours and I take these playthroughs SLOW, the trident was just that strong, especially its weapon art. However I leveled this guy to like 170 or 180 and after that I realized you generally wanna stop anywhere between the 90s and the 140s, so I really don’t play him anymore, hence why I have bleed characters and a trident build on my list lol, I’d like to make one within decent leveling parameters. Also, this guy got the Frenzy ending. I found the 3 fingers by accident on my first playthrough and got the most vile ending.

2. Black Flame Knight - Bakura: Night’s Cavalry Armor and all the black flame incantations, maxed out godskin seal and godskin peeler. With Shard of Alexander and some other fire damage buffs, nothing melts bosses faster and more consistently than the black flame tornado, and all the spells are just insanely strong. People who say Intelligence/Dexterity builds are playing in easy mode may not be wrong, but I’d wager the game is almost as easy when you run a proper black flame set up.

Initially this guy was gonna be a death sorcerer, the name Bakura was a Yugioh reference to Bakura who always used occult themed cards and quite famously had destiny board, which I was supplementing as the rancor spells. Like 2/3 way through the game the build was trash. I just didn’t do it right cuz my brother has built a phenomenal death rite sorcerer. Ended up rebirthing and doing a black flame build. Haven’t renamed him yet but I probably will give him something more suiting.

3. Ranni’s Consort Eternal - Asmodeus: This was meant to be a conglomerate of all the “night” themed magic stuff I could use, and ofc this character did ranni’s ending. I used the zweidander with a magic, and later a frost weapon art, for most of the playthrough, to get myself ready for the Darkmoon Sword. Tried out Blaidd’s as well and loved it, but stuck w the darkmoon for immersion. Sorceries were a mix of night and gravity sorceries. I think I threw in 1 or 2 frost ones near the end just to prock the status more often.

4. Perfumer/Status Build - Carl Weezer: my brother and I were doing Carl weezer (from the show Jimmy Neutron for those unaware) and one night when I was stumped on what to do w a new character, I was like fuck it let’s make Carl. So I used the Godskin Noble armor, with the Albinauric mask, and I specifically made use of breathe and scream attacks. Using talismans to boost those and the perfume items, Carl was a VERY gimmicky tarnished. If you’re confused as to why the scream, breathe, and perfume attacks, it was simple. Carl is always defined by his failing health and his asthma so we decided, the perfume items were his inhalers and the breathe attacks kinda fit too. Scream attacks were based on the fantastic 4 / X-Men episode where his powers are burp based. Sorry to offend asthmatics but I had very little to work with. Carl ended up being such a mess that I rebirthed him with rennala and turned him into the next character I’ll list -

5. Beast Champion: This guy had Bernhal’s full set of armor, except of the head which was the Blaidd mask. Maim focus was just damage with the Beast Claw Hammer, but I ran the claw mark seal and all the beast incantations as well, along with a couple crucible spells. Ran a Cinquedea as well for a speedy option during pvp. I tried to use physical buff items and spells as often as possible to make up for the fact that this build was pure physicality, no damage dealing items weapons or skills unless they dealt physical

6. Lord of Frenzied Flame - Tenebrae: My magnum opus. This tarnished is the best in pvp of any of my builds, and aesthetically he’s so perfect. He’s a balance between faith and arcane, and I have the dragon communion seal in 1 hand and the frenzy in the other. I wear Eleanora’s gauntlets and have the Frenzy seal in the gold hand, and the communion seal in the red dragon scaled hand. I usually cast with the frenzy seal for the buff but in pvp the communion seal builds frenzy super easy on other players. With the gauntlets I just have Morgott’s Robe and the Merchants Headpiece, the headpiece is obv a reference to where the three fingers are found as well as Kalé’s cut questline. I thought morgott’s robe looked so raggedy and worn, it was perfect, plus what a mocking gesture to the golden order and the greater will than to be clad in the robe of Leyndell’s last king. It also was the only piece I could think of that kinda suited the giant flaming head you get during the end cutscene, thing has the watermelon for head size like SpongeBob’s sweater of tears. Ofc I was also running Vykes spear with this guy, but he was mostly a caster.

7. Blood Knight - Belial: I basically wanted to make a bleed character who was super fast instead of super slow and tanky, unfortunately I chose to use Eleanora’s poleblade instead of katanas or reduvia or something. It’s such a cool weapon but I was struggling a bit at the endgame, so I rebirthed this guy to use the trident again, but with a light roll. He’s currently got Mohg’s robe and I switch the other armor around here and there. I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing with this tarnished he hasn’t finished the game. Maybe the dlc will give us a twinmace and I can turn him into Ultraman Belial. I think I may just NG+ him into one of the guilds on the poll.

8. Adherent of Rot - Icky Vicky: this character focuses on inflicting rot and poison on strong enemies, while quickly cutting away HP with powerstanced daggers and consecutive damage boosting talismans. Right now she mainly uses 2 scorpion stingers and swaps 1 for reduvia at times. Haven’t NG+ yet but someone gave me a 2nd stinger. I’d like to get a 2nd Antspur rapier, with a poison weapon art both weapons could build rot and poison simultaneously. Character also wears Malenia’s gear with the mushroom crown. I use perfume items a lot and the poison and rot pots.

Have you caught any influences/references in Soul Eater that are not well know/documented

I haven't kept up on all things in the Soul Eater Wiki that cover lesser known references in Soul Eater.

We have all the musical references. Kilik's abilities come from Aphex Twin, the Evans come from Bill Evans, Soul has a Miles Davis album, Blair's abilities come from Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan.

Ohkubo enjoys soccer, so we get a few references, such as the Eternal Feather robot head writing the name of Jesús Navas.

We have the references to other Square Enix properties. The Excalibur bonus chapter takes its name from a Square Enix game, Seiken Densetsu. And B Ichi starts off in a knockoff of Shinjuku, where Square is headquartered.

Speaking of B Ichi, we have those similar designs: Rodigy becomes Ox, Emine becomes Crona, Kyokotsu becomes Lord Death, Shotaro has a bit of the Clowns later seen in Soul Eater along with a bit of Black Star in him, since both Shotaro and Black Star are fans of Charisma Justice.

The 2008 anime has cameos from B Ichi and "Atsushi-Ya" characters, such as posters of Charisma Justice and Rat. Plus, Tsugumi's keychain in episode one of the NOT anime is a character in the "Atsushi-Ya" gag comics. And speaking of NOT keychains, Meme has a Tezca bear head keychain in one episode.

Waldo/Wally from Where's Waldo? / Where's Wally? shows up in the bazaar chapter of Soul Eater NOT.

Had an idea for a second arc in my Origins Interrupted Au: The Hell Arc.

Basically, there's a place in the multiverse called Computer Hell, which is exactly what it sounds like. Classic "souls of the damned punished for all eternity" type deal, makes for some nice cameos for old villains like Francis and most recently Lady Rose who can't show up otherwise since they're dead. It's also a prison that contains malevolent entities that Antivirus was strong enough to defeat but not strong enough to destroy. I went with them specifically since I thought it was interesting that they were specifically described as dragging Lady Rose down to hell Disney Villain-style.

Anyway, the arc starts when Mario and a bunch of other Avatars are transported to Computer Hell with no indication as to how or why. This proves to be even more of a problem when it's revealed that Barry's one of them, since he escaped after his defeat in the Pokemon Arc. He's also been busy since then, having found a few other Avatars who share his hatred of the SMG Program for one reason or another. They formed a group called the Union of Scorned Avatars, and a few of its members are here with him too. And none of them are interested in putting aside their differences and helping the good Avatars escape.

It later turns out that the thing that brought them all here was one of the most dangerous prisoners Antivirus has locked away; an alternate version of SMG4 called Spicy Meme Generator 4000, a living virus hellbent on consuming every Avatar in every timeline and using their accumulated power to control all of reality. He'd already managed to do so in his own timeline and several others before Antivirus captured him when he arrived to do the same here.

Even while locked up, he still had enough power to bring the Avatars to the same universe as him, and to subtly influence them into coming to him by making them think that path would lead to a way out.

Meanwhile, everybody else is frantically trying to find the missing Avatars.

Time for my favorite early One Piece movie. Actually of all the movies up until strong world, this is my favorite.

So, first nice to see you Drake and Navarone because the G8 are one of the few fillers I really enjoy.

So the Strawhats have just recently left Alabasta. As they eat Nami, Sanji, and Zoro begin to really asses their money situation. Nami, Zoro, and Robin all notice a strange interaction with the bartender and realize there is something going on. After talking to him, he shows them to a passage where they can enter a dangerous race (it’s Stampede without all the cameos!!!)

While integrating into the festivities, we learn from Robin that this is a race that happens every few years on this island. Luffy also manages to offend a bounty hunter named Shuraiya Bascùd. In a move very reminiscent of Jaya we have Shuraiya and Luffy begin a fight and practically roping everyone into it. It leads us to meeting a former marine, Gasparde, who Luffy takes an immediate dislike to.

While all this is going on we meet a child called ‘Badger’. They work on Gasparde’s ship with their grandpa Biera, who is sick. Badger begs to be allowed to go hunt a pirate to get the bounty for medicine and Gasparde allows it.

The next day the race begins and the Strawhats have a very eventful start. As things calm down Zoro is sent to check the ship. Badger attacks Zoro but Zoro knocks the kid out. When they wake up, they are surrounded by all the Strawhats. After declaring their intention to kill the group and realizing they really can’t the child asks for death, enraging Nami. Later Sanji tries to comfort the child, explaining they have all had a difficult time. Usopp and Luffy express surprise at Sanji caring so much for a strange boy, something Sanji agrees is strange.

Meanwhile Shuraiya is on Gaspard’s ship. He meets Biera and explains that he became a bounty hunter in order to find and kill Gaspard for killing his parents and little sister eight years ago. Biera remembers that day, remembering that he saved the sister and she is alive, but before he can explain that Shuraiya is gone. The bounty hunter confronts Gaspard and they fight.

Luffy and the others finally catch up with the rest of the race. They learn that all the eternal poses to the real end has been swapped out with ones to Naverone. Enraged, they use Chopper’s nose to find Gaspard. They arrive to see he had defeated Shuraiya. While Luffy knocks Shuraiya out and takes on Gaspard, Zoro carries Badger to find their grandpa. The grandpa is glad that the child is safe and asks Zoro to look after the child just a bit longer as he has some stuff to do in the boiler room. Sanji meanwhile wants to help Luffy but Zoro reminds him that Luffy will not be happy. So Sanji finds a more subtle way to help, getting Luffy something he can use to counter Gaspard’s devil fruit.

A cyclone begins to approach and the Strawhats are forced to leave. Luffy, Gaspard, the unconscious Shuraiya, and Biera who gave Sanji the impression that he is remaining behind to die are all left and the child is enraged by this. To keep the peace, Zoro knocks the child unconscious and the strawhats, minus Chopper who knew, learn it isn’t a boy like they thought but a little girl.

Luffy ends up winning of course and Biera saves Luffy and Shuraiya. He then explains to Shuraiya that the child is Adelle, his little sister. They reunite with the rest of the crew and head to the finish line, but Drake shows up and they are forced to flee. As Shuraiya, Adelle, and Biera watch the Strawhats leave, we learn that Shuraiya intends to care for them all and give up bounty hunting.

I love this movie. The race is so fun and I really love the crew dynamics, especially Zoro and Nami’s friendship. Zoro knocks out a young girl twice in this movie because Zoro says ‘screw you’re gender or age stereotypes, if you point a gun at me I’m knocking your ass out’, which is very on character for him. Zoro will fight anyone. He just doesn’t care to overpower those who are weaker than him. And Sanji unconsciously realizing the child is a girl and trying to help her was cute too.

Took a bit of Elysium-brand liberty to blend up some of the mythological options for the parents of the Kharities, landed on Pasi’s mother being one of the Oceanids who cares it doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is, in the typical Elysium!Olympian fashion of Every Deity for Themselves With No Regards for the Other Just A Selfish Free-For-All,, Pasi & sisters were pawned off on Aphrodite (💕cameo alert!!!💕) who took them in just cause they were cute 🥺 and bc Di promised her a favor and batted his eyelashes, the absolute weasel. they were AACTUALLY loosely raised by random nymphs in her court, and grew up to serve as handmaidens to her and later Hera herself — NOT as daughters just there as pets.,,,, unless convenient in the moment.

—and then a quick cut to some Underworld clarity of flabbergasted & nervous laughter lmao. Timeframe wise this is taking place before Hypnos and Pasi were engaged & just were dating, yknow the tragic backstory sharing stage of the relationship plus token eternal third wheel Maci (that’s mean to her, she and Pasi did become fast friends back then too ffkfkfkf still!). lemme repeat my twt comments of, Maci’s VERY well-versed in that special Olympian brand of nonsense thanks to her childhood springsummers with Grandma - however Pasi was Hypnos’ first hands-on experience with it so like AAHH it *IS* tHAT BAD??

Rya doesn't wear much jewellery, but I like to think she has two pieces!

The necklace, a cameo portraying Lady Tanith. Obviously, she is her mother, yet I looked up if there was significance of holding a piece portraying the leading master / mistress. A brooch could signify the Order if worn by Monarch. I lke to think there could be such significance.

It is of skilled craftsmanship and definitely not cheap for choice of metals and that cameos are crafted of shell or gemstones. Perhaps, commissioned specifically either for Rya or maybe it was commissioned either by Rykard or Tanith for one another, later given to Rya. Anyway, she cherishes this necklace dearly, hiding it under the collar of the under dress - unless she is looking at it.

While her game model doesn't seem to have any rings - I like to think she wears at least one in her left pinky: a simple, thin silver band in form of a oroboros: unity, the eternal-cycle of destruction and creation. House Rykard, destruction of the old - so something new can become. Eiglay and the way she is worshipped would fit so well.

The serpent never dies... Devour... family... the birth of man-serpents: Destruction, unity, creation. The finger also has symbolism of marriage or ties in organization (cri.minal - I think in the house of Blasphemy it would be fitting!).
