I'm sorry, I was just looking over the Watty's stuff and like wtf.
Disclaimer: I've been on Wattpad since 2015, so like 9 years now (makes me feel old) and never once participated in their awards competition, the Watty's. Wasn't there to win awards, was there to win hearts. (even if I update as slow as molasses) Anyways gonna ramble under cut
So, Wattpad. Ya know, that site that's known for fanfiction. That site that was built up by fanfiction. That site that has decided that fanfiction is no longer acceptable to be submitted to the Watty's... Oh ya didn't know that. Yeah, apparently this is the second year that they haven't allowed fanfiction to be submitted. Was skimming comments and supposedly to staff, most stories on Wattpad are original works. Which I feel they're about as original as a fanfic work when I'm pretty sure a good section of that is built up by werewolf fics that almost always read about the same and are as predictable as can be after you read like 3 of 'em, but oh no most of the works are og. Sure copyright is an issue, but ya wanna know something? Fanfic writers usually don't want money or anything for what they've written, they just want their work to be acknowledged and appreciated. So like, idk, there could just be no prize besides like a hey this work won the fanfic category congrats to it.
Two more qualms about the Watty's: poetry and short story collections aren't eligible either. Why? No reason in particular given. Guess is that 500 word minimum per "chapter" that amounts to 50,000 words is just /too hard to judge\. As someone who has managed to acquire honorable mention and have a poem I wrote published in a book of poems by others, I find this disheartening that this website that encourages creativity is removing two forms that many people work extremely hard to do. Do they realize how hard it is to write a series of poems? Do they realize how hard it is to tell a full story in only a few words, much less multiple? Do they realize how disheartening it is to be reading over the guidelines thinking hey I may be able to actually enter this year only to read at the end that the genre you write isn't accepted?
I knew I couldn't enter regardless of the genre limitations. For completed works, it's had to have had its first chapter published after January of 2022, and all of mine that are completed were years before that. For ongoing works, you have to have had updated once a week for 8 of the 10 weeks prior to entering and I update like once every 3-6 months if lucky.
Another complaint about Wattpad I have is that they took away my dm's. Unhinged, I know, but I actually used them occasionally. Like if I wanted to have a conversation with someone instead of in the comments section of a story we could just dm on the same site and not have to worry about putting a social media or contact to where anyone could just come dm you and you have no idea why. I enjoyed reading over past rp I did with someone back in like 2016 because we fell out of touch and it was the only rp I did with someone that wasn't pencil and paper being passed back and forth in someone's room, that happened like twice btw.
Wattpad has slowly become a site that I don't know anymore. It's become a place where I've stayed only out of nostalgia (and I'm used to its formatting). A place where a part of me grew up at and called home. A place that is now a shell of the home that it used to be. It saddens me to see it slowly deteriorate from what it used to be. No one I know uses it anymore, and those that I mention that I still do almost always ask why, why haven't I moved to AO3 or another site, or are surprised that it's still being used anymore. Wattpad was there for me when I started to slip. It was there for me when I was at my lowest. It was my escape...but I don't think it can be anymore. I'll try to finish the ongoing fic I have there and uphold the promise I made with myself, but after that I don't think I'll use it anymore. Not after all of these changes that keep happening and honestly, saying goodbye to it is like saying goodbye to a long time friend.

Text
had bad tremors earlier and I was feeling really shaky and irritable. i suspected an oncoming migraine and took a relpax, and I think I was right because it still hit, if later on.
and then I woke up at 2am with hallucinations again and now I’m awake and in discomfort and sad.
I’m pretty sure the migraines have gotten worse. I’m having auras now and the pain is ridiculous. It’s never been this bad, and it’s been 7+ years since the migraines started.
my neuro doesn’t suggest going into hospital for migraine, but IDK what else there is to do when it’s that bad. three days at a near-constant 9 on the pain scale, I was a living corpse, I don’t know how I managed.
I can only hope the lyrica starts working soon and that I get some semblance of a life back. doesn’t help that I have to fight with my GP every single time, like they haven’t already given me one dose of Lyrica, like they don’t have my neurologist’s letter asking for said dose.
I sort my meds for the next two weeks in pillboxes and had run out of the lyrica. i’d already had to go cold turkey coming off the lamotrigine because the idiots don’t seem to understand what ‘titrating down’ means and sent me 200mg when I needed 50.
I BEGGED in the message to them for help. I told them I can’t do this anymore and then pleaded with them, literally, in caps.
And they came back with a sarcastic ‘maybe you should call your neuro and chase up the ltter, we can’t prescribe you the meds if we don’t know what we’re prescribing...’ despite the fact that I’d physically sent them the letter, and that I’d already had my first dose.
They probably found the letter on their systems after looking again, because they approved the prescription, but they didn’t apologise to me, or say anything about it to me at all.
And then I get a call saying that the pharmacologist is complaining that I had enough lyrica on my last prescription, why am I asking for more? So I walk them through the instructions on my neurologist’s letter, because apparently my layperson’s understanding of the neuro’s instructions is greater than that of the people working in the fucking business.
Why the hell did I have to talk this person through what ‘titrating up’ means?? I told them I’m on 75mg x2 right now and that I have to go up to 200mg x2 so I need either a lot more 25mg tablets or a mix of 100mg and 25mg so I can keep increasing the dose. WHY DID I HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT?
The fuck, I can’t cope with this as it is. I’m in constant pain, I’ve been in agony the last month because it’s been particularly bad, and now I have to argue with the GPS and explain what my neurologist is talking about just to get the meds that HE PRESCRIBED?!
It’s a controlled drug, but still. Like fuck I would just be randomly asking for pregabalin, it’s not like they don’t have my case notes, it’s not like I didn’t call them to make them aware of my situation when I moved here.
And I’m understanding about the pressure on the system because of the pandemic, I have been throughout, waiting on my neuro because they’re crushed (although I’m pretty sure I slipped off their list by mistake and they only realised when I called them about the hallucinations)
But I can’t do this on my own. I can’t KEEP calling them and fighting for the requests for medication eery single fucking time. I can’t. I don’t have the energy or the spirit, I’m in so much pain all the time, I can’t do this, I just can’t cope. I can’t cope.
How can you work in the medical field and not understand the impact of long term chronic pain on someone’s body and mind and spirit? Why do I have to explain the simplest shit to them like I know what the fuck I’m talking about?
If you have an ongoing chronic issue in the medical world, they don’t know what the fuck to do with you, that’s it. If you need their help beyond one visit and a handful of pills, they bluescreen. It’s exactly like asking a computer to do something outside their programming, they don’t understand, they spit out a load of error messages at you and then they stop working, these things that are supposed to enhance life
if you DON’T have a chronic condition that requires multiple doctor’s visits and wrangling multiple specialists, you CAN’T understand what it’s like to exist in the world as a disabled person. it is painful and it’s difficult and the things in place to ‘help us’ are part of the problem. you just can’t understand how difficult life is like this.

They dealt with all of the above. Ringo was treated as a joke for pretty much everything, especially since this was the era of prog rock. His personal life was also tabloid fodder. George was derided as being a dour spiritual nut who was out of touch. He along w/ Ringo didn't get the respect he deserved as a guitarist bc his style wasn't in at the time & people knew little about his role in The Beatles. All credit went to Lennon/McCartney. 1/2
John had the benefit of having the rebel genius image, but even he became a source of ridicule with all the stunts he pulled with Yoko and the way his career declined after Imagine. He wasn't deified to the degree he was in the 80s. I'm not trying to say Paul never had a hard time, but the way this fandom talks as if he is the only one who faced extreme criticism or disrespect just tells me they haven't looked much into the other Beatles' lives. The man is more admired than most musicians. 2/2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(IDK if this screenshotted anons were from the same person or not, but I’ll just answer them in this one since it’s all the same subject.)
Here’s what I think is valid, as I see it: Paul fans are upset by the way his music was treated by the music press, especially in the first few years of the 70s, while the music of the other three were generally given at least the benefit of the doubt. They’re not upset about the tabloid gossip, the purely personal stuff – they are upset, specifically and with good reason, at the way Paul’s music was treated and the way the music world’s personal dislike of him seeped into their music reviews. I’m gonna focus in on 1970 through the end of 1974, since this is where a lot of the complaints spawn from, and things start to shift in a big way in 74. You didn’t ask but contemporary writings about their early solo music is something I’m fascinated by anyway and you turned the wind-up toy key in my back, so. Off I go. This is gonna be so, so long.
At different points in the decade, all of them were subject to a sullying of their personal reputations. That is where I do agree with you: all of them were subjected to that by the press, to varying degrees, at varying times, and for various reasons for each of them. That is just what happens to public figures the longer they are public figures. Tabloids mess with everyone no matter how beloved they are.
However, that’s not what I generally see Paul fans getting upset about. What I see is that they’re upset at the way the much more legitimate and widely respected music press approached Paul’s music and talent in general. It is widely received knowledge now that the critics treated Paul’s music differently than they did John’s and George’s and even Ringo’s; the trashing was not “equal.” They came at John and George with the assumption that their talent was real and ongoing outside of the Beatles, their genius unquestionable, their motives pure and well-intentioned and honest. Paul was not afforded these assumptions. Some examples to show what I mean, most of them found through wikipedia, rocksbackpages, or rollingstone.com.
John
Plastic Ono Band was Robert Christgau’s number one album of 1970 in The Village Voice. from Creem’s review: “John's record, of course, has been righteously raved over ever since its release, justifiably. It's interesting and even enlightening to see a man working out his trauma on black plastic but more than that, it's totally enthralling to see that Lennon has once again unified, to some degree, his life and his music into a truly whole statement.” From High Fidelity’s review: "a tremendously exciting listening experience, perhaps the best any Beatle has ever offered." In their Imagine review, Rolling Stone called POB “perfect.” A couple reviews in the mainstream were more mixed, put off a little by the rawness of it, but overall the rock world quickly grew to see this album as a work of genius.
Imagine was even more widely well-reviewed, despite a mixed review from Rolling Stone (John fell out with Jann Wenner around this time, curiously). Here’s a passage from rateyourmusic.com: “Imagine was actually one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year, aside from this tepid review in Rolling Stone. Indeed, much of the rock press seemed palpably relieved that the former Beatle hadn't gone completely off the deep end. ‘It's the best album of the year, and for me it's the best album he's done, with anything, or with anyone, at any time,’ Roy Hollingworth wrote in the 10/9/71 issue of Melody Maker. ‘The album is superb,’ Alan Smith agreed in the 9/11/71 issue of NME. ‘Beautiful. One step away from the chill of his recent total self-revelation, and yet a giant leap towards commerciality without compromise...I have no criticism at all.’”
Some Time in New York City was admittedly John’s nadir, and the press was vicious about it, both personally and musically, deeming the album egotistical, lacking in energy, and devoid of sincerity. However, many maintained a reverence for the genius that came before it and hopeful encouragement for the future. Rolling Stone said that “The Lennons should be commended for their daring;” Creem said it wasn’t half bad; and even though NME’s article was scathing, it ended with a plea for John to return to form, saying, “Don't rely on cant and rigidity. Don't alienate. Stimulate. You know, like you used to.”
Mind Games, though reviews were mixed, fared far better in comparison. Again, there is a hopeful tone to the reviews, a sureness that John can do better. From Rolling Stone talks about the music being a return to POB form, but the writing is his worst yet; however, Landau qualifies this by saying the lyrics aren’t “offensive, per se, just misguided... [John Lennon’s admirers] might even be able to withstand something more challenging” and then praises John’s voice, his production, and a few individual songs. In Melody Maker, Ray Coleman says, “if you warm to the rasping voice of Lennon and, like me, regard him as the true fulcrum of much of what came from his old group, then like any new Lennon album, it will be enjoyable and even important.” Christgau is more middling but also says, “Still, the single works, and let's hope he keeps right on stepping.”
Walls and Bridges seems confusing to reviewers in retrospect. They couldn’t seem to come to a consensus on it. The musicianship was widely praised, for the most part, though Rolling Stone criticized the first side on this front; reviewers alternately said it was “the latest chapter in John Lennon’s Identity Crisis” (Creem) and “truly a superb album by any standards” (Melody Maker). Throughout the Rolling Stone review, the author is able to thoroughly critique the songs, for better or worse, with a neutral affect and without resorting to insulting John personally. He ends the review on a positive note: “When one accepts one’s childhood, one’s parenthood and the impermanence which lies between, one can begin to slog along. When John slogs, he makes progress.” Again, even though the reviews aren’t all positive, we can see, especially and most importantly in the most influential rock magazine of the time, the acknowledgment of his talent, a sense of excitement for what John will do next, and a belief that his work is authentic and honest.
George
All Things Must Pass, I mean. Apart from a couple of outliers like Christgau in The Village Voice (he called it “overblown fatuity”), it was incredibly, almost universally beloved by the music press when it came out. There was quite a bit of surprise that such a talent had been under everyone’s noses all this time, but I don’t think anon is quite correct that all the credit for the Beatles went to Lennon/McCartney. For example, Ben Gerson in Rolling Stone recognized George’s talent within the Beatles like this: “Up until now, George has been perhaps the premier studio musician among rock band guitarists. From the electronic whine which began “I Feel Fine” to the break in “Hard Day’s Night” to the crazed, sitar-influenced burst on “Taxman,” George exhibited an avant-garde imagination and a technical flawlessness, as well as the ability to stay within the bounds of a song, which has remained unparalleled.” In Melody Maker, the feeling of journalists was summed up thusly: hearing the album was “the rock equivalent of the shock felt by pre-war moviegoers when Garbo first opened her mouth in a talkie: Garbo talks! – Harrison is free!" The personal nature and honesty of the lyrics were praised as well; Time described it as an “expressive, classically executed personal statement.” Ben Gerson did call his proselytizing offensive, but in the next sentence says that George redeems himself from that with the personal plea in Hear Me Lord.
Concert for Bangla Desh - again, some cynicism from Christgau in The Village Voice (must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day) and of course tax issues dogged it later, but overall, for the rock press at the time, this was a crowning achievement that George pulled off. He was praised all over the press, countercultural and mainstream, for his live musical talent, the group of musicians that joined him, the lack of political motivation, the sincerity and goodwill, and George’s ability to bring back  "a brief incandescent revival of all that was best about the Sixties" (Rolling Stone). To this day he is credited with creating the model for future charity concerts.
Living in the Material World - Nothing could have topped the one-two punch of ATMP and the Concert for Bangla Desh, but honestly, LITMW came pretty close for some journalists. Rolling Stone again praised George’s honesty and authenticity: “ Despite the occasional use of “psychedelic puns,” Harrison’s lyrics are so guileless they convey an extraordinary sincerity that transcends questions of craftsmanship. Similarly, the devotions we are called upon to share with Harrison, though they communicate no specific, private torment, do have the authenticity of overheard prayers and are therefore sacred.” Melody Maker said, "Harrison has always struck me before as simply a writer of very classy pop songs; now he stands as something more than an entertainer. Now he's being honest." The pushback against his pious attitude and lyrics picked up some steam with this album, particularly with Christgau (again) and Tony Tyler of NME, who called it “so damn holy I could scream.” However, it was far from the consensus opinion at the time, and with the biggest rock magazine in the world at your back, you can withstand quite a bit.
Dark Horse, oof. That poor man. It did get some positivity in Billboard and Melody Maker, but my god, the reviews for this album and its subsequent tour were so cruel. I suspect when these anon(s) talk about the others being treated terribly by the press as well, this, along with John’s STINYC, is one of the examples they would give, and they’re not wrong about that. This was the point where George’s piety and what they perceived as a sanctimonious attitude finally started really getting to everyone, and the album plus the tour was the perfect opportunity to dogpile on him. I guess it was to be expected; no one can ride that high forever, and the press loves to knock people over and kick them while they’re down. Rolling Stone called it “disastrous,” “shoddy,” and called his guitar work “rudimentary,” eventually declaring that George had “never been a great artist.” This from the same magazine that was practically worshipping at his feet the year before. Yowch.
Ringo
Sentimental Journey - The less that’s said about this album, the better.
Beaucoups of Blues was actually quite well-received. No one called him a genius for it, and it wasn’t a serious personal record and therefore wasn’t treated that way, but journalists seemed uniquely able to let themselves enjoy this record despite the serious/political/personal tone of most musicians at the time. Melody Maker believed Ringo had  "conviction and charm" and that because of that, the album stripped away the serious “hip posturing” and let you just enjoy the music on its own terms. The Village Voice said that Ringo was “good at making himself felt.” Although Rolling Stone’s tone was a bit more cruel than other magazines (there was a crack somewhere in there that Ringo wasn’t as smart as John), it also called him lovable and the record “a real winner” where the songs “sound terrific.”
Ringo was a total smash and I think people forget this. It’s remembered only because it’s an album that was worked on by all four Beatles, but actually, the critics fuckin loved it. Ringo was praised in Rolling Stone for his unpretentiousness, sensibility, and essentially collaborative nature: “Ringo was always the figure of conciliation within the Beatles, undoubtedly the most genial, conceivably the most sensible, and the one with the smallest musical axe to grind. His very lapses bespoke the esteem in which the others held him; had they not liked him so much, those perfectionists would never have allowed him to sing. Perhaps because as the drummer he stood outside the process of creation, he had the best perspective from which to see the Beatles as a unity. Ringo has never had any pretense of self-sufficiency. Once he had gotten his special projects out of the way (projects for which John, Paul and George's talents would have been unsuited anyway) Ringo was ready to call upon the three most obvious people to assist him with writing, singing and playing. As Starr's first "pop album," Ringo signifies a homecoming, not just of family, but in musical style as well.”
Goodnight Vienna was kind of a minor album for Ringo, but still, reviews were pretty good. Rolling Stone praised his “unalloyed sincerity which is his trademark and trump card.” Yet again, we see the theme of authenticity popping up in these reviews - if you are perceived as authentic, honest, and sincere, that takes you a long way with music reviewers in this time period, and Ringo was nothing if not wholly, completely himself.
Paul
McCartney - One of the main complaints of Paul fans is that Jann Wenner forced Langdon Winner, the author of the review for this album in Rolling Stone, to rewrite his article and put a more negative spin on it. The result is that Winner praised most of the music but totally undermined his own praise by questioning the authenticity of the tone and deriding the press release that came with the album as much as he praised the music. He ends the article like this: “I like McCartney very much. But I remember that the people of Troy also liked that wooden horse they wheeled through their gates until they discovered that it was hollow inside and full of hostile warriors.” This was a huge blow at a time when personal authenticity and substance were considered paramount. Melody Maker also questioned the legitimacy of his genius, saying “With this record, [McCartney's] debt to George Martin becomes increasingly clear.” Most other reviews weren’t any better.
Ram, I mean, Jesus Christ the reviews for this. It’s a widely respected album now, even made the RS top 500 albums of all time list last year, but at the time people were still so angry with Paul for supposedly breaking up the Beatles that they were still taking it out on his music a year later (imo). Landau in Rolling Stone called it “emotionally vacuous” and said it lacked conviction, saying also that it was “so incredibly inconsequential and so monumentally irrelevant you can’t even [hate it]; it is difficult to concentrate on, let alone dislike or even hate.” NME called it “the worst thing Paul McCartney has ever done.” Threaded through these reviews is a belief that the songs are devoid of meaning and that Paul’s happy domestic front is just a frustrating lie; Christgau in The Village Voice said he was “infuriated by the McCartneys' modern young-marrieds image” - infuriated because he clearly doesn’t believe it, rendering Paul dishonest and his music inauthentic. Once again journalists are unable to review Paul’s music without sniping about him as a person.
Wild Life - Though the situation remains largely the same - reviewers refuse to take him seriously, believe anything he says, or treat his musical talent as anything but vacuous fluff - the reviews aren’t quite as bad as they were for Ram and a bit of positivity begins to stir. It’s evident especially in the Rolling Stone review, where Mendelsohn wonders if Paul is making crappy fluff on purpose to piss John off because it will sell just as well anyway. It’s not much, and on top of the fairly strong criticism there is almost no hope for future Paul releases: “My own conviction is that we'd be foolish to expect anything much more earth-shaking than Wild Life out of McCartney for a good long while... In the meantime the reader is advised to either develop a fondness for vacuous but unpretentious pop music or look elsewhere for musical pleasure.” But it’s something.
Red Rose Speedway Paul continues to be lambasted by a lot of the press on this album for being lightweight and having no meaning behind his songs (at this point it’s just repetitive to quote the articles, just trust me that they say basically the same thing they were saying for the past three albums too), BUT I think a nuance that gets forgotten in all of this is that Rolling Stone gave it kind of a decent review. It seems like they finally quit gatekeeping and realized that songs don’t need to have some deep personal meaning to be good. Kaye is still not very nice about Paul’s lyrics but he recognizes that he doesn’t have to take Paul’s music on the same terms as he takes John and George. Paul’s music is less personal, but that doesn’t make it unworthy. He calls it “pleasant, accessible without concentration” and praises Paul’s voice and arranging skills. It feels like for this album, Rolling Stone took the stick out of its own ass when it came to Paul and finally relaxed enough to receive Paul’s music on his terms rather than theirs. Which, imo, primed the rock world for...
Band on the Run, Paul’s comeback. Even though Christgau in The Village Voice remained unconvinced (he called it “a pleasant piece of hackwork”), almost everyone else adored it. It seems weird to us now, but the general sentiment seemed to be that people were surprised by how good this album was. NME said, “The ex-Beatle least likely to re-establish his credibility and lead the field has pulled it off with a positive master-stroke”; and although Landau’s review in Rolling Stone overflowed with praise, he also said, “I'm surprised I like Band on the Run so much more than McCartney's other solo albums because, superficially, it doesn't seem so different from them.”
I hope I’ve been able to demonstrate a general trajectory with the musical reputation of each Beatle here. John starts off on two incredible high points, crashes and burns, and then works his way back up. He DEFINITELY missed with STINYC, but even when he followed it up with Mind Games, there was still a hopeful tone to the reviews, sort of like, “Ah, well, the last two weren’t great but we’re still looking forward to what John will give us next.” Until the Dark Horse tour/album, which did sour the press on poor George, the music press adored him. It was hit after hit with him. He could not miss. Three high points, one after the other, then a monumental crash. Ringo seems to stay fairly high, even if the records aren’t serious records. All three of them start out incredibly well, and the music press was able and willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Paul was given none of that. Perhaps because he was out of step with the attitudes about music at the time, perhaps because journalists hated him for breaking up the Beatles, perhaps because they believed John when he painted Paul as “establishment,” perhaps a combination - whatever their issue was, Paul was given no benefit of the doubt to start with, no faith in his genius, and no belief in his authenticity. He was just a hack to the music press for the first few years of the 70s; he started at the bottom and was forced to work his way up, unlike the other three. It started, imo, when Wenner forced the journalist who wrote the McCartney review in RS to rewrite the article, and it spiraled from there. He was seen as hollow and uncool, as one of the anons said, “straight” in the parlance of the time - straight meaning “establishment.” This is kind of where I do start to roll my eyes a little bit at stans, when they get upset at people calling him “establishment” and trying to prove that actually he was so anti-establishment that people couldn’t handle it or whatever, without trying to understand what the word “anti-establishment” meant at the time. But there are also really substantive arguments you can make that say Paul’s music was not taken seriously because of a personal grudge against him.
I’m not saying that all of them didn’t have run-ins with the music press. I’m saying there is nuance here that I don’t think these anons are allowing for in the first few years of that decade. They came at George and John and Ringo with a positive, or at least neutral, slant most of the time. They came at Paul with a negative one. Case in point are the reviews of Band on the Run that were surprised at how good it was. That stuff gets people’s hackles up. The others didn’t have positive reviews rewritten to be more negative. The others didn’t have albums savaged that are now on the Rolling Stone top 500 albums of all time list. I do agree that John, at least, and George post Dark Horse, had a harder time with the music press than people generally remember or care to think about – deification is retroactive, I guess, and as Paul fans we should definitely recognize that Paul wasn’t the only one who went through a rough time with the press. But I do think Paul’s situation was made uniquely and unjustifiably difficult for those first few years.
I mean, at the same time, I cannot stress enough how much this did not affect his bottom line. Despite the horrible reviews, Ram still made a ton of money, McCartney made a ton of money, Band on the Run and Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway all made a ton of money. He had a fanbase, a huge one, that followed him loyally and faithfully through the early 70s as he was getting savaged by the press, and through the middle and late 70s when he was touring. At some point, you have to step back and go, wait. Why does any of this matter? This was 50 years ago. He was a multi-millionaire then and is a billionaire now. And you are right; whenever people over-generalize and try to make the case that Paul was always badly reviewed and the others were press darlings, I tend to get annoyed because they’re totally missing the actually interesting nuances of the situation (that can be easily found online! I found most of the music reviews through snippets on Wikipedia!) In conclusion, I guess my point is that both “Paul was vilified while everyone else wasn’t” and “everyone was equally vilified” paint the events of the early 70s with brushes that are too broad and miss the nuance that was evident in the way the press interacted with their music.

Sabrina, I have one word of advice for you...
R U N
Tumblr media
“Chat, please stop talking.”
“But that’s my thing!”
“YOU JINX EVERYTHING!!”
Tumblr media
Ayyyyyy~
Well, it’s something, I suppose?
Tumblr media
Answered this here.
Tumblr media
It absolutely did. Bless you, kind and hilarious citizien. ;P
Tumblr media
I’m torn because... on one hand, I want to give proper mythology and such for like--anything that’d be put into the show, but on the other, I liked the idea that Alix’s brother was just sort of a conspiracy who thought of stupid stuff (which is why I kept the concept for MC Jalil Kubdel).
Zoe did it really well in Scarlet Lady where Alix knew the actual mythology and started blurting it out whenever Jalil got it wrong.
New Asks:
Tumblr media
Considering “Ikari Gozen,” I imagine Alya and Kagami don’t get along as well. I agree with basically everyone that Marinette and Kagami not getting along is bad, but Alya and Kagami not really getting along makes more sense and is more tolerable.
Since Alya is Marinette’s “““BFF”““ (supposedly), I could see her kind of being like, “You’re competing with my girl over the same guy,” and keeping Kagami at arm’s length, worried that keeping Kagami close will allow Kagami to be closer to Adrien since Adrien is an extension of their friend group (kinda, sorta, not really, but Marinette calling him a friend so technically--)
You know, Alya trying to be a good friend and help Marinette with Adrien in more subtle ways. It’s the wrong way to go about it but she’s trying.
Tumblr media
LUKANETTE IS AMAZING IN TERMS OF PROGRESSION KDJNGJDFG, I ADORE IT. Every episode they share together, we either learn something new about them or see more details on their relationship.
I think I was already all-in before “Silencer,” but man, that episode just sealed it even more. I was like well dang, why does the love square even EXIST???
Tumblr media
jfdngjkfdjgfdg
Incredible. Only problem is that the creator doesn’t know how to use it properly.
Tumblr media
You mean fourteen year olds aren’t perfect human beings???? :o
(no, but really, that’s me all the time; like, she’s barely a teen!)
Tumblr media
He’ll believe it if it’s Chat Noir who’s doing it. If Marinette ever does it though, he’ll be sure to shut it down. ;P
Tumblr media
Ugggggh, the worst part is that I have the same exact fear that they really are going to be like yeah Ladybug you silly fool Chat Noir has been with you since the beginning!
I mean, we’re already basically getting that with the New York special; Chat was supposed to protect Paris and then didn’t tell Ladybug that he “had to” leave for New York (and the New York thing is inadvertently Marinette’s fault and parts of the fandom actually did blame her for it even though it was Chat’s choice not to say anything), then Ladybug gets upset with him when she discovers it mid-battle, which leads to Chat being distracted and Cataclysming someone (another thing that Ladybug can be “inadvertently” blamed for), then Chat gives up his miraculous so Ladybug isn’t even allowed to be angry and cue the later line of “I can’t imagine being Ladybug without... him.”
So clearly that’s saying something. Adrien doesn’t get anything close to that level and Marinette is chewed out for not asking him to stay when Nino had already asked him too.
It’s like--Marinette chooses to go after Adrien and then gets either nothing in return, or humiliated by the narrative, and then in the New York special, she decides to do nothing and everything still goes wrong while Alya yells at her for it. The “damned if she does, damned if she don’t,” on display is stunning. The girl tries to confess and it’s like, “no, not allowed, but Chat is allowed to confess.”
Tumblr media
I still don’t understand this logic of his overarching plot but also “there’s not much of a timeline.” I think the only solid thing we’ve ever gotten was something about all the episodes in one season coming after all the episodes in a previous one, but there are still things that don’t add up? The only thing the season 3 production order will give is making sure the hero debuts work out (so no Viperion or Pegase before “Party Crasher,” for example).
It’s not really reliable. I mean, like--I’ve been experimenting with timelines for a while, and stuff like “Miraculer” baffles me. It’s basically non-canon with no value whatsoever. All it does is make “Heart Hunter” look even more confusing and treats Marinette even more horribly for not picking Chloe when she explicitly told Chloe that she wasn’t getting it back.
Tumblr media
I’m not familiar with that one! Is it any good?
(Okay, I actually was too curious and ended up looking it up; fancy! I couldn’t have guessed that it was a webtoon! I started reading the 1st issue and before I knew it, I was on the 6th! Oops~)
Lila is totally Rashta, 100% agree. The fact that the comments have a nickname of “Trashta” for her, equivalent to Liar Rossi, says as much ;P
Tumblr media
Because lessons that involve telling someone that they’re valid and allowed to feel a certain way don’t apply to Marinette. Isn’t it nice? :3
Tumblr media
Not that I know of? Though I also don’t look for that kind of thing, so it’s possible that it exists and I just don’t know about it.
Even if it did exist thought, I don’t see a problem with you doing your own regardless. Good luck if you do!
Tumblr media
No. No I do not. ;P
Tumblr media
GREETINGS FELLOW INTJ!
And yeah, I’m not really capable of not analyzing shows. There are some small exceptions, but they’re usually not full shows in the normal sense. If there’s an ongoing plot, my mind tends to be working at all times.
In terms of Miraculous, Season 1 was harmless enough where I was bothered but pretty quiet about it, but then it just got progressively worse. It really feels like one of those things you can’t unsee when it finally hits you, y’know?
I’m glad I was able to help you get that satisfaction you need (and appreciate Lukanette, of course ;3)!
Non-Miraculous Asks:
(some heavy Puella Magi Madoka Magica salt below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow, this is a really dedicated ask! Nice!
Gonna go point by point here:
1 - Yeah, the whole thing with Homura not “being able” to save everyone... kinda questionable, and I didn’t really buy the arguments they used to explain it away. I think there was this one PSP game or something with Madoka Magica where you could kind of choose what happened (like, there were bad ends where Sayaka didn’t get her soul gem back in time and her body was partially decayed; ick) and I think there’s a good end where Homura saves everyone but--yeah, not canon.
I just don’t care for twisted stories like that unless there is actually a good end on the horizon (and I mean like “Everyone Lives and is Happy” good end). Angst is just so exhausting so the second I saw Mami’s head being bitten I was just like, “Ah, okay, so we’re doing this then.”
2 - Eugh, the sexism thing. It’s so... yeah, and especially this because the whole “girls are emotional” thing, I don’t really care whether or not the show is trying to “subvert” or “explain” anything, it just feels like poor taste and I don’t like it. (I also didn’t know about that Death Note thing because I didn’t watch it, but geez.)
3 - Wow, I’ve been away from the show for so long that I forgot what Mami’s wish was; I thought it was to “not be alone” or something (or maybe not die alone?? I really don’t remember), but either way, the fact that it follows some sort of genie wish logic is just--*sigh*--they’re teenage girls, come on (plus, the “genie wish logic” is really overdone to me anyway).
4 - The other thing about Sayaka is that it’s really predictable that she’d “die so quickly.” Basically everything was pointing to her just being annihilated at some point, and being Madoka’s best friend, it was pretty inevitable that she’d go.
((semi-unrelated, but someone also asked me which character’s name was lied about before episode 3 hit and they wondered if it was Sayaka’s; it was Kyubey’s))
Tumblr media
Yikes. Sorry you had to experience that.
Anyway, I guess I’m not experienced enough in multiple fandoms to say for sure? If I was ever in a fandom, I would just blacklist the people/stuff I didn’t like, so I didn’t get to see a tong of “bad things” going on.
+ I try really hard not to generalize fandoms into one thing.

Oof, uhhh, shows, huh? That’s tough.
I think the main ship from Given (Mafuyu and Ritsuka) is really adorable (you might’ve seen the amusing video of their love being mutual before), and while I would’ve said the same thing for the kinda-sorta side ship, it gets--uh... really bad during the movie/rest of the manga, I’ll just say that much.
Mafuyu and Ritsuka though, totally adorable.
Inuyasha kinda? Though Inuyasha and Kagome are definitely not the kind of romantic chemistry that I lean towards (I find “the bickering couple” to be rather exhausting). Plus, Cardcaptor Sakura did the “male tsundere” better than Inuyasha did (though the Clear Card Arc was terrible, at least it’s not canon kinda-sorta? idk it seems like a mix of the anime and manga so...).
After that there’s...
uh
...
hm.
I mean, there’s probably a couple more examples somewhere, but--yeah, I’ve got nothing. Maybe if I thought back to all the generic children shows I watched when I was little (like those old Disney live-action shows; I had no taste when I was younger), there might’ve been something that satisfied kid me but idk.
Tumblr media
I don’t remember what post inspired this, but I have no problem answering regardless, ahaha~
My main issue is Aang’s attitude about the whole thing. I’m not saying it was right of Katara to go out and get “revenge via murder” exactly, but I also think that Zuko had the right idea with allowing her to go and face the man who killed her mother so she could get some form of closure (also note that Zuko doesn’t express any sort of opinion when Katara decides not to kill him; he just wanted her to have whatever she thought she needed to heal).
It’s also the episode where Zuko directly confronts Aang on his “violence isn’t the answer” rhetoric which then goes completely ignored as Aang lionturtles his way out of the conflict. Aang is also not confronted on his point of “forgiveness is the first step to healing” (when Katara has a right not to forgive and Aang isn’t challenged outside of Katara commenting on it) and was permitted to ride his high horse when Katara “steals” Appa like, “It's okay, because I forgive you... that give you any ideas?” which is just--
reaaaaaally "holier than thou”-esque when Aang is like, ten, and Katara is a sort of motherly figure to him. The episode even has Sokka praise Aang for how “wise” he is and I groaned through the entire thing.
Another smaller thing is that it sort of makes the air kingdom look way too “perfect” by having Aang be the “source of wisedom,” especially when it’s like “violence isn’t the answer” while all the other airbenders are dead.

(I had a really long, detailed version of this....... but Tumblr ate it D’: so this is... heavily abridged, sorry!)
Tagged by the ever lovely @castiel-saved-me-from-myself <3
pick 10 ships without reading the questions
Interesting... ok!
1. Dean/Cas (obviously)
Tumblr media
2. Aziraphale/Crowley
Tumblr media
3. Nygmobblepot
Tumblr media
4. Foxma
Tumblr media
5. Babitha
Tumblr media
6. Amy/Rory
Tumblr media
7. Nomi/Amanita
Tumblr media
8. Eve/Flynn
Tumblr media
9. Catradora
Tumblr media
10. Cosima/Delphine
Tumblr media
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6?
I think I started shipping Amy/Rory during the Venice fish monster ep - cos that was when I felt Amy really did love him back and they had a future together. Before I suspected that her running away with the Doctor was a sign she and Rory weren’t right for each other.
2. Have you ever read a FanFiction about 2?
Only read a handful of Ineffable fic. Overall I’m perfectly happy with the canon alone.
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr?
Yes I’ve had Foxma themed phone backgrounds and a tumblr header :)
4. If 7 were to suddenly break-up today, what would your reaction be?
Disbelief and disapproval. Nomi and Amanita were one of the great constants of Sense8 for me. I think a break up would be out of character for them tbh. Plus it would be denying the black and trans characters a rare example of a happy ending, which would suck.
5. Why is 1 so important?
I wrote such a detailed thing about how DeanCas is not only important to me personally but also how I feel it’s been important for TV/media in general... ugh, tumblr!
In a nutshell - this ship helped me better myself in various ways. It introduced me to fandom,  which boosted my confidence and independence via increased socialisation; it encouraged me to write more, which improved my writing skills; meta discussions educated me on lots of issues, inc. but not limited to abuse, sexuality, gender identit, autism and racism.
I also genuinely believe that the loud and open fandom support of the ship has been a significant help in the ongoing battle for more and better queer rep in media.
6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Serious! Catra and Adora’s relationship is a core part of the whole show, relating to lots of the wider themes of abuse, toxic behaviour, growth and forgiveness. Plus the significance of a same sex romance involving the lead character in a CHILDREN’S CARTOON really cannot be overstated.
(but it is also cute and funny sometimes :p)
7. Out of all of the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
I’ve spoken before about having issues with the concept of ‘chemistry.’ If I ship characters it’s usually because I find the combination of their characterisation and story arcs interesting/compelling. I often don’t notice (or I guess care about?) chemistry.
So I think I’m not qualified to answer this one.
8. Out of all of your ships listed, which ship has the strongest bond?
Agreeing with @castiel-saved-me-from-myself here - you can’t really beat the Ineffables millenia long romance :)
9. How many times have you read/watched 8’s fandom?
I’ve rewatched The Librarians 2 or 3 times now. It’s DAFT. But it’s fun. And Eve and Flynn make me feel warm and fuzzy.
10. Which ship has lasted the longest?
Again, as @castiel-saved-me-from-myself said - it’s gotta be the Ineffables, both within AND outside of the story, since Good Omens was originally published over 30 years ago and the Zira/Crowley shippers have been going strong all that time. Otherwise it’s DeanCas.
(though idk if Catradora was a ship back when the original She Ra cartoon was airing, or when the original cartoon was made, so it’s possible that is also a contender!)
11. How many times, if ever, has 2 broken up?
Lol at @castiel-saved-me-from-myself for getting Nygmob for this one, as their relationship is, like, 90% break up :P
For the Ineffables though it’s basically just the once - when Zira chooses Heaven over Crowley. Not made such a Big Deal in the book IIRC, but in the show it’s the infamous Bandstand Break Up scene.
All other separations are only minor, temporary squabbles imo. Which is what makes the Bandstand scene so PAINFULLY, BEAUTIFULLY, ANGSTY AND EMOTIONAL and why I love it so!
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8?
I figure angels and demons probably can’t be killed by zombies, so the Ineffables are the most likely.
But Eve and Flynn did actually face off against zombie-ghost things in an alt universe during a whole Loom of Fate plot and survived, so I think they’d probably also make it.
13. Did 5 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
No, Babs and Tabs were always open about being together, even when Tabs was also in a relationship with Butch.
I might argue they hid the depth of their feelings for each other though, even from themselves, and instead made out what they had together was just a casual ‘friends with benefits’ type thing.
Though Tabs did hide things a little when she sent assassins after Jim cos she blamed him for putting Babs in a coma. She clearly knew her brother would disappprove, which is why she didn’t tell him what she was doing. I guess that kinda counts as hiding her relationship with Babs? She was trying to conceal how much Babs mattered to her?
14. Is 4 still together?
Lol, Foxma were never together (ALAS!). But the show did end with their lingering fondness for each other intact I think.
15. Is 3 canon?
Is Nygmobblepot canon? Rather a touchy question for the fandom tbh.
If we are talking EXPLICIT canon - then no.
They never got a kiss or a MUTUAL love declaration (and they had a controversial ‘we’re brothers’ exchange in the penultimate episode) - ergo there is not enough, imo, to say they ended the show officially romantically involved.
However, Ozzie DID EXPLICITLY DECLARE HIS ROMANTIC LOVE for Ed, and that was never rescinded. There is also LOTS OF SUBTEXT floating around Ed to imply he reciprocates. Plus they did end the show together as clear Partners in Crime.
So is Nygmob subtextual canon?
I would say yes.
But explicit, CANON canon?
A frustrating no that fandom remains, understandably, critical about.
16. If all 10 ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
I think a toss up between Nygmob and Babitha - because everyone else has too many morals that would hold them back from killing :p
(and since Ed and Oz have both bested Babs and Tabs in the past I lean towards them... but it would depend on when in Gotham canon the games were happening!)
17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 10’s ship?
Breaking up Cosima and Delphine was a LITERAL PLOT POINT of Orphan Black at one point, so very much yes! I forget the details (the show got very twisty, with lots of different organisations working on different agendas in the shadows), but I’m pretty sure Delphine was shot because she was protecting Cosima. I remember it BROKE MY HEART and I thought it was a casebook example of Bury Your Gays. But, spoiler: it wasn’t ;)
18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond?
Going with DeanCas, because I think that, historically, it’s the one that’s been in most need of defending.
19. Do you spend hours a day going through 1’s tumblr page?
Not anymore I’m afraid. Though 3 or so years ago I used to spend most of my free time on DeanCas and spn meta. Ah, nostalgia.
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the ten ships to break up forever or else she´d break them all forever, which ship would you sink?
Foxma. Because while I adore the idea of a messy, confused ~something between them, in my heart I know that Foxy deserves better :P
I was too tired to bother with tagging the first time I completed this - DEF not gonna bother now!
Play if you want - it’s fun :D

Ask a writer
I wasn’t tagged but I was bored so.
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
This question gets asked so much. I’m short, cajun, a woman. I might be a “writer” but I’m not good at naming things.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (comments, visitor hits, kudos)
Comments: 262 for This Love (Teen Wolf)
Hits: 1548 for Come over here & make me (Teen Wolf)
Kudos: 113 for Reflections (FMAB)
3. What is your FFnNet/AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
Jester from CR, just because I love her
4. Do you have any regular/favorite commenters?
@breakthestrutura is probably the only regular over multiple fics. This Love used to get regulars but I finished that fic in 2017, and I haven’t posted a fic in over 2 years so nothing is regular lately.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I’ve beta’d for @breakthestrutura some and reread her stranger things fics and atla/fma fics she’s gifted me. I know I’ve read fics I’ve liked, but I rarely save them and rarely reread anything. I really don’t read fanfic much, not sure why, probably because I want to read very specific things, and they don’t exist so.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
Subscribed: 3
Bookmarked: 18, but I mostly use it as a to-read list, but I never read them
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Canon divergence. Not that into AUs tho.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)

9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
idk, not really? Sometimes I don’t feel talented enough to do my ideas justice and it keeps me from getting started.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Everything really. Mostly I wish I could get myself to write anything at all at this point.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
Popular ships because like 95% of the time I ship canon or what I’m very sure will become canon. But I’ve done a few rarepairs.
12. How many stories have you posted on FFNet/AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
32 fics. Only 1 of those is a chapter fic.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
At least 20 (but probably more) unfinished ones. I never finish anything.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I write down a page length summary of the whole story most of the time, if I remember to, but sometimes they just live in my head. I’ve had an idea for like 3 years and for some reason I just keep forgetting to write down a summary. But I think about it so often that forgetting hasn’t been an issue so far.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
I haven’t.
16. How did you discover FFNet/AO3?
Don’t remember. I think I made friends with some authors and probably clicked a link to their stories and then thought hey I should try that too.  I also know I was resistant to ao3 for the longest time, not sure why, and now I don’t ever go on FF unless it’s to look at my account.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on FFNet/AO3?
No, you actually have to write things to get popular.
18. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Plot it out, probably too much. But most of the basics of my stories come to me right away and I can’t really help that. Not that I want to. I like knowing where my story is going.
19. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Not many. And they were more annoying than outright mean. Most were for This Love - people who thought I was going to write Malia to be an asshole and/or not including her in the story enough, or worried I was going to put Stiles with the girl they didn’t like. Stuff like that. I wanted them to keep reading, so I tried to put some of their minds at ease so they would eventually realize their assumptions were wrong.
20. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Transitional scenes, where nothing that interesting is happening but just getting to the next big scene. And yeah, smut, I feel so awkward. I’m too ace for that.
21. What story(s) are you working on now?
At the beginning of this quarantine I actually got myself to write a bit, almost every night for like 2 weeks. It’s just a Matt Murdock/Jessica Jones thing that I’ll never finish. But it was nice while it lasted.
22. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Like I said, I never finish anything, so I’m always moving on to a new thing.
23. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Of course not, or I would’ve posted something in the last 2 years.
24. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Sometimes I feel like I’ve gotten worse, since I’m so out of practice. But I’ve been writing stories since I was a little kid so I’ve definitely improved since those days of course.
25. What is your favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
This Love since it’s my only chapter fic and somehow I managed to finish it, even when it seemed like I never would. I'm just proud I finished it tbh. I like a lot of my others but also this feels like a weird question - I don’t think of my stories as amazing or anything, they just have plots i’m interested in.
26. What is your least favorite story(s) that you’ve written?
Idk, some of my Teen Wolf drabbles, I guess. Like, they’re fine.
27. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I’d like to get myself to actually commit to trying to write a book (yeah, not even writing a book, but getting myself to even TRY). But I probably won’t. If not that then I hope I pick up writing fic again at least.
28. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Ideas and plotting. Yeah, sometimes I get stuck on the how or small details but like I said, stories come to me mostly fully formed.
29. What is the hardest thing about writing?
The getting myself to actually sit down and write part.
30. Why do you write?
I’ve always loved writing stories, from a pretty early age, and I don’t know where that comes from but it feels like it’s always been there. I also have things I want to read, so I have to write them to make them exist. That’s it really. If other people like them too then that’s just a bonus.

Since I like smashing false narratives...
Some of you may remember this post where I laughed out this little gem by Kelios for the unsourced garbage that it was:
Tumblr media
BUT IT GETS BETTER.
So, one of Kelios’ tinhat acolytes, Magdalena, was queried by a fellow Destiel-shipping Sam fan for a damn source. First she irrelevantly went on about how much screen time Cas had (still more than the people claimed above him), but also went on to post a link to this video:
TOSSING BEHIND A CUT BECAUSE OF HOW LONG THIS GONNA BE BUT BOY OH BOY YOU’LL WANT TO OPEN IT I FOUND THE MYTHICAL VIDEO AND ITS GR8.
youtube
Now, from about 2 minutes to 11 minutes, Mark discusses how and why he left the show. This is a multifaceted issue involving
Discontent with Crowley’s story (not doing much, Mesopotamia conflict w/ Crowley being Fergus/Rowena being his mother/writing continuity
On top of a pay cut (will discuss in a bit)
On top of his contract wearing thin.
Funny enough, his pay cut had NOTHING to do with demotion, but rather, promotion, as Mark S’ guest rate is actually higher than the rate they contracted him as a regular at, and he took it as a pay CUT those years, but was technically promoted. HOWEVER,
The mention of Misha? Has nothing to do with season 12. In fact, he very explicitly states it’s about season seven, and part of his ongoing process with/over it was not letting them do to him what they did to Misha in season 7.
Further lack of comprehension comes from them waving around the Winchesters quote, while blatantly ignoring talk of Castiel’s popularity, that there’s been three characters for years and when he was promoted to regular he became the fourth (temporarily), oh, and the following, which goes against EVERYTHING they claim about da bess/worst seasons. Mark says:
Season 7 was the worst season, like, ever.
Season 8 was one of the best.
Season 9-10 were still really good.
Season 11 waffled and got a bit weird with Amara, but
He still gives accolades to the current writers because writing a serial show for fourteen years is hard.
But delet that, I guess.
TLDR: Literally nothing they claim exists in this video, actually exists.
Mark was not demoted to guest S12
Misha DEFINITELY wasn’t demoted to guest S12
he never even implied close to it
their numbers are completely cocked up within their own head
just like the quote they’re pulling is
just like we all knew
Mark refers to S7 negatively not once but twice (one over how they handled Misha THEN, once as just being the worst season)
Mark refers to the seasons they scream about being the worst, as some of the best.
Mark’s quote is literally about his own personal paygrade (as an actor REVERED for his guest starring across the genre - gasp - has a high guest star paygrade since it’s not solid work but he demands his value be covered!)
Shock and awe, they’re completely fabricating things again and, IDK, hoping nobody watches the video. I’m gonna guess the chick who sourced it didn’t either.
This just in, Misha Collins was demoted back in SEASON SEVEN. Alert the fandom presses.
Tumblr media
Ignore his two promotions since then, I guess.
This just in, Mark Sheppard is scifi genre famous for guest starring in Every Big Scifi Show and his guest star paygrade is above what SPN pays their regulars per-episode but he took the solid work at technically lower paygrade per episode at more episodes until it wasn’t panning out.
Tumblr media
Someone hit the presses. This all has to be breaking news, right?
Cuz that’s how they’re treating it.
They’d probably be so pissed if they saw his guest star paychecks compared to any of J2M I’m dying oh my god. The point is Mark S is such a big name outside of SPN (which, I’m sorry, not even J2 have been more than moderately successful names outside of SPN, and even that not for a decade) that his guest rate is unaffordable as a regular, but apparently, more episodes at the lower rate was compensation enough. Because, in random example, if you make 10 dollars 4 times you have 40 dollars but if you make 8 dollars 5 times you have still have 40 dollars. Not sure how this is hard to figure out wtf???

Zi-O 27-28: Liveblog Time!
Well, it’s been long enough, and now that we’ve got two more episodes since the last one, I might as well do them both at once! ...Again!
Okay then. So, BlackWoz’s Storytime Vault has now become BlackWoz’s Storytime Theatre, then. Seeing as it’s in front of the ongoing battle from the end of 26. “Time for me to become a rider… but I probably shouldn’t be talking right now.” As opposed to his once-standard “Oh, wait, spoilers. ‘Sorry’ about that.”
~Cut here~
OOF. Okay, taking a few minutes at a time…
Geiz and Sougo are knocked down by each other’s respective finishers, but they’re still transformed. BlackWoz steps in, before they can both get back on their feet. “Hey, Geiz, you using that plays right into that ~other~ Woz’s hands, this is a bad idea for you.” He then takes Geiz away with his admittedly really cool scarf-escape technique.
Dropping the two of them off at a nearby warehouse rooftop, Woz seems to be worried for Geiz. “I don’t like you, but using that watch is an absolutely terrible idea. You are quite literally killing yourself. Since when have you been willing to go that far?”
Geiz says that defeating Zi-O has been his goal the entire time… and both Woz and the audience know that’s not true anymore, that he clearly likes Sougo now.
Woz’s expression… yeah. That’s concern and confusion. ...They did used to be allies, didn’t they? I remember something about that back during… ah, geez, when was it Swartz nearly dropped Geiz off of a roof? Right, the first part of the Wizard arc, episode 7.
And the reasoning for Geiz coming to his new-found (re-found?) determination? Tsukuyomi’s actions on the bus in 2009. She tried to take matters into her own hands there, much like Geiz was trying to do when all of this started. But then the bus crashed. Presumably, she’s gone.
I don’t know why, when 26 aired, I kept seeing people saying Geiz was determined because ‘she tried to steal my kill.’ I thought it was pretty clear that the actual problem was that Tsukuyomi appears to be dead.
The only other friend Geiz has.
“She’s gone… I could never be friends with the person who caused that.”
Geiz Revive! Fury!
I have to say, I really like the Revive Fury transformation. Especially how the last part of Geiz to be covered by the armor is his eyes. Not in the usual sense, where the last part of the armor to fully form is the text on the eyepieces. I mean, that’s still a thing, yes, but the framework of the armor glows and obsucres most of his body… except for his eyes.
Woz says that “Really? Remember, you’ve never once beaten me.” He said the same back in ep 7, too, and handily defeated Geiz there. That’s decidedly not what’s happening this time around.
That is what I call a curpstomp fight. Not even battle, Woz is barely allowed a defense, much less any real attacks. First off, cool to see that The Book can be used to trap someone. Less cool to see Geiz shred it from the inside out with the Power Saw. And then do the same to Woz’s scarf extension. And even his teleportation trick doesn’t help, because it appears to be short-distance, and Revive Typhoon is fast enough to dodge precognition. Woz didn’t stand a chance.
“WOW I hate alternate me. A Woz is a Woz, and apparently THAT Woz is a DICK. I have to do something about this.”
W!Woz: “Hi! My savior~!”
Geiz: “Screw you. I’m not planning on being your savior. Just shut up and watch.”
(Geiz walks away)
W!Woz: “Well, you don’t really get a choice in the matter. ...Mind you, I never did say you saved everyone...”
~History is told by the winners~
~And the winners don’t necessarily tell the whole story~
What was that I mentioned about a potential ‘omission’ in White!Woz’s story? Oh, right, back in episode 21… “Nothing can disturb the peace if nothing moves again, now can it?”
I figured we might be talking about time being frozen in an eternal now. … but the same ‘if nothing moves again’ can apply to people surviving, too.
Opening time, and I realized something. The line about ‘now we must choose our own future’ in the narration bit, before Over Quartzer kicks in. That might not mean a ‘choose your side’ choice. That might mean ‘screw your destiny, we’re taking another route entirely.’ Taking a … hang on, I need to do some math here…
There’s Team 9-to-5; Sougo and Junichiro. Team RideWatch; the Sougo/Geiz/Tsukuyomi alliance, which is currently a bit dissolved. Team Oma Zi-O; Black!Woz, Oma Zi-O, and Sougo’s potential as trained by Black!Woz. Team Savior; White!Woz, the potential of Geiz Revive as Savior. Team TimeJacker; Swartz, Another Zi-O, Hora (presumably), Heure (presumably, and potentially not for much longer). Team Wildcard: ...Decade, and anyone he drags in, because apparently Diend is showing up? IDK, I’m getting there.
That’s six, I’m going to try and do up another Faction List soon.
But taking at minimum the 4th route, diverging from the three established timelines. Those being Team Oma Zi-O’s, Team Savior’s, and Team TimeJacker’s.
Geiz Revive Fury and Typhoon has now replaced the first section of Rider!Woz in the opening – just last episode, there were two shots of him in a row, him gesturing flashily, followed immediately by him spinning his weapon. Now, the flashy pose is gone, replaced with Geiz using Fury’s Power Saw and then swapping into Typhoon, followed by Rider!Woz with his staff.
But! The previous version of the opening had a view of White!Woz’s tablet being used in the ‘background’ for both of the Rider segments. It’s not there this time.
I mean, I was initially only going to comment on if they’d added Revive into the opening, and what was replaced, but I felt that other detail needed to be mentioned.
It has been almost an hour and I am only six minutes in.
Uncle Junichiro, believe me, I share your heartbreak right now. “Well I’ve been alone all these years, right?” Sougo, sweetie, no!
Hnnn. Against previous (and possibly better) judgement, I’m starting to trust Junichiro. I mean, I’m remembering his name now, and couldn’t be bothered before. But his worry for Sougo has just been so plain to see in the past few arcs. The toy robot in the Kikai arc, seeing how he originally took in Sougo just last episode, how quickly he took to Quiz… And I guess I was right back during that arc, too, that Sougos’ been alone.
But nooooo, I had to be all “Dark Toei, give us the Forbidden Sougo Backstory” I MADE A MISTAKE.
And now Black!Woz is going to Heure and Hora for help in finding more Forbidden Sougo Backstory information. Because Decade’s on that list. (onore, this too, and so on and so forth. I’ll save the full memes for if/when I need them later.)
Hora tells him to get lost, she knows full well he’s just going to wind up using them. To be fair, he did sort of do that back in Ghost – he’s the one who told them about Tsukasa, after all, and that got Sougo the Decade watch.
But Heure… well, Heure’s been on the receiving end of the ‘being used’ treatment from Hora and Swartz lately.
Hiryuu’s transformation into Another Zi-O is… something, to say the least. He’s basically using his personal Another Watch almost exactly like Sougo and Geiz use theirs, except that in his case, the watch summons the driver on it’s own. But he has it outside of him – all the previous Another Riders had them sort of… implanted.
Boys you are both 18 you are too young to be this willing to murder.
Geiz is not doing so well after he beats Another Zi-O out of his transformation.
Hiryuu is confronted by Heure, who says… as it stands, he’s not going to be powerful enough to beat Zi-O II or Geiz Revive… and there’s another rider from the future he needs to get the powers of. So… Hiryuu uses the Another Watches he’s been making from the previous Another Riders to… re-make the Another Riders out of other people. Kay then.
All this is apparently according to a plan set up by Heure and Black!Woz. Heure just wants to know what’s going on… same as he said in 26.
When Junichiro finally speaks up to Sougo… that’s… really hard to watch, actually. No wonder he’s been so eager to see Sougo make friends since Geiz and Tsukyomi showed up. Sougo has never said a thing if he’s okay with being lonely or not. And Junichiro… he’s had no idea what to do. For ten years, he’s been seeing his nephew (possibly alternate younger him, time travel and predestination is still part of what this season is about) be by himself, and neither of them confronted that issue.
Ow, my heart.
“Tsukyomi… I’ll defeat him for you...”
Swartz appears from behind a corner. “That was the first time I saw her...”
He sure does like his sequence breaking, doesn’t he?
Okay, April 24, 2009. Sougo was apparently a very excitable little 8-year-old. Tsukuyomi hides her Time Mazine, and gets on board The Bus – and moves faster when she sees that Hiryuu’s there.
The bus driver has a ~Magenta~ camera hanging around his neck. Hey there, ‘sup, how’s it going, Tsukasa?
OH NO she was just trying to FIND OUT what happened on the bus! But a man in a black coat steps in front of it, while it’s on a bridge at that, and freezes time as they slam the breaks.
Swartz wtf mate. “So, all of you young boys were born in 2000, so at least some of you have the potential to become King…” And those who can… will. Face… this… life or death trial…
And he sets the wheels in motion – literally, and the breaks aren’t working, much to Tsukasa’s concern. “Oh shit, oh shit, I’m just here as a temp, what did I get involved in this time?!”
Swartz doesn’t take no for an answer, and freezes all the parents, but not the children. HI SCREW YOU SIR.
Oh, and THEN! What Hiryuu – and Geiz, watching from outside – saw was Tsukyomi firing in defense of Sougo, and her shot was reflected towards Hiryuu, knocking him out. Because the Faiz Phone X is a stun gun. Then Swartz, who is from comparatively earlier in the future than her, proceeds to kidnap the small children, bringing them with him in a ball of energy that explodes the corner of the bus, leaving it in flames.
That’s what Geiz saw. What Tsukuyomi is seeing, is a driver entering a tunnel… fire spreading from behind them… and a white ripple of light appears as she turns away from the driver to look at the explosion, and while we don’t see what happens when it passes her, we do see it pass by him… leaving a drivers seat with no driver.
They didn’t find anyone else in the aftermath.
Now we’re in Sougo’s dream with the Dai Mazines… or, we thought it was a dream. He thought it was a dream. That’s no dream. That’s a memory. Tsukuyomi and Tuskasa are here too…. But enough of that. Back to 2019.
NICE plan! Distract White!Woz with some Another Riders who shouldn’t be here, get him to transform, and have known power-thief Hiryuu take the power of Kamen Rider Woz. Turnabout’s fair play, isn’t it? Heure wants some payback for the deal with the car during the Shinobi arc.
White!Woz, the petty little man that he is, tries to use his tablet to drag his power back. But this is all according to keikaku… Exact wording applies, and he didn’t specify exactly which Woz the power would go to.
Heh. Your “A Woz is a Woz, of course” comment from when we met you just came back to haunt you, huh?
I really want to know how much fun Keisuke Watanabe is having playing these two. Because it can’t be boring to be two characters who play off of each other like this, and he does some great emoting in the past few episodes. Those IWAE speeches have to be a blast to do, too.
TO BATTLE!
…er.
TO EPISODE 28!
yoooooo!
That’s creepy. So, uh, screw Swartz, and tiny 8-year-old Sougo was already starting to have powers! Not necessarily time powers, or not just time powers, anyway. There’s also the physical manifestations of words. The Dai Mazine that was threatening him and a very unconscious Hiryuu aged to dust, but yelling for Hiryuu to look out made the WORDS THEMSELVES appear and freeze time!
Sougo’s a good kid. As he and the others were starting to run, he looked back to see if there was anyone else. Not one of the other boys did that.
And, interestingly, Tsukasa doesn’t say anything. He’s right up there with Tsukuyomi, watching, and not commenting. Of course, she obviously hasn’t noticed it’s him, so sure.
(I can’t help think but he’s from this point in time, here in 2019, and came backwards. He could be a then-present Tsukasa, since early 2009 was his era, after all, but I don’t know enough about Decade to say for sure.)
(If he’s from 2019, I kind of want him to go see Takeru when he gets back, and just casually say something about how ‘looks like we’ve got another for the ‘innate powers’ club.’)
(You will pry innately magical Takeru from my cold, dead, hands.  And the portals are a power of Tsukasa’s that are unrelated to being Decade, right?)
Ah.
Black!Woz didn’t seem to realize just how overpowered Revive Typhoon is, able to keep up with and outpace the Shinobi teleportation. But he let himself get beaten up, to force Geiz out of the next fight.
Revive is a very lethal powerup, and he had warned him of that. Woz’s logic was that if Geiz couldn’t move after one fight, he couldn’t go right into the apparently intended fight to the death with Zi-O.
He doesn’t seem to have accounted for how damned stubborn Geiz is. And Black!Woz seems concerned for both Sougo and Geiz.
~They used to be on the same side~
WHITE!WOZ! I’m going to have to ask you to stop hurting Heure! So… Heure sees full well that he has not been told what’s going on, that Swartz’s goals are very much different from what he’s said.
And apparently… Swartz and White!Woz have been working together. It doesn’t matter which of the three wins on the Day of Oma; Sougo, Geiz, or Hiryuu. It won’t change their plan.
I knew that Swartz wasn’t on the same side as he’s been saying. And White!Woz’s support has seemed very conditional, too. Geiz is ~his savior~ only so long as he follows the script.
Both Swartz and White!Woz can go to alternate timelines, as seen with Shinobi and Quiz. I think the Kikai insect threw them for a minor loop, but was worked around.
Swartz left Sougo and Hiryuu back in 2009. But why both of them? Because Sougo almost immediately threw himself to roll Hiryuu out of the way of the rubble, and got him caught in it?
Hmm.
It sure looks like this is 2019!Tsukasa we’re dealing with, too. He knew what to explain to Tsukuyomi. ...But we don’t know if he saved the others from the accident… And right now, he’s trying to find out if Sougo’s actually going to do The Overlord Thing, so he can figure out if he should do The World Ending Thing.
Should I use my ‘damn you’ now, or save it for later…?
Zi-O versus Zi-O time?
HI SO. I love these little touches that they gave to the Another Riders as they entered.
Wizard appears rising up from a Magic Circle. Ex-Aid is accented by the bright pink pixellated lights, as opposed to the colored smoke that all the others have. Gaim’s smoke quickly turns into juice droplets. Fourze’s becomes pinpricks of light, like stars. OOO practically walks in from offscreen, a green puff of smoke by his feet, and then a red ring of light by his head. Build bounces in from the other side of off-screen, a diagonal line of ‘dark steam’ going the same direction as his stripes.
And then the POSES.
Left to right… I don’t know enough about Faiz, but the lines light up as he stands. Again, Build bounces into place, before striking his pose. Ex-Aid is bouncing out of the ground, as if in a very bugster-like teleport, by the way, landing in that crouch Emu uses in the opening. Wizard is actually spinning as he comes out of his imitation Connect spell, and does the coat flip. Gaim just sort of. Appears, with his sword over his shoulder. Ghost is reminiscent of when Takeru initially transforms, where he sort of… droops, before jerking back ‘into awareness’. Fourze does the hair thing. Not even the “It’s space time!” pose – it’s the tick where Gentarou slicks back his hair, regardless of if he’s got the helmet on or not.
And as they finish their poses, and look up at Sougo? All of their eyes light up in perfect unison.
See, this is the attention to detail we wanted out of the tribute arcs, Shirakura!
There’s just. They all RUSH Sougo, because Hiryuu wants to be the one to kill him That Badly. Sougo’s just trying to get past them, and manages to use a slash to (presumably) bring down Build and Ex-Aid, but there’s still 6 Another Riders left, along with Another Zi-O, and they legitimately dog-pile him.
Geiz is still trying to make his way to the lot he said he would meet Sougo at to settle everything.
He’s limping, and barely has enough energy to get there, and all but collapses down in the dusting of snow… but there’s no Sougo.
And then there is. And he’s barely able to make it up the ramp, either.
Neither of them can stand, Geiz wants to know why Sougo’s even here in that shape, and Sougo…
Well, he gets to see Geiz again.
And they had promised, hadn’t they? Not just for this final battle.
But Sougo has trusted Geiz from the start – has trusted that Geiz would take him down if he was going to go down the wrong path. Since Revive worked, Sougo must be going bad, right? So this is how it’s supposed to be, right?
Hiryuu wants to kill Sougo. “He’s going to be an overlord, isn’t he? So let me kill him!”
But no. Geiz is not having this.
“This guy? Become an evil overlord? Like hell he could do that. He is the most trustworthy person I know. And he’s my friend.”
GEIZ SWEETIE YOU’VE COME SO FAR!
Sougo… he’s just said that before Geiz and Tsukuyomi came into his life, he didn’t have friends. But he looks surprised that Geiz feels the same.
This transformation is different. It’s so different. They’ve transformed at the same time in the past… but this here? THIS is transforming together.
And it’s brief, but that thing I mentioned earlier, where the Revive transformation left Geiz’s eyes visible before completing? The regular transformations haven’t done that in the past.
They both did here.
The fight against the Another Riders is great! We get to see the rest of the Legend Rider finishes again – we saw Build and Ex-Aid a few episodes ago, from Sougo and Geiz respectively, and here we get to have the others. The Faiz armor’s Exceed Time Burst, then the Gaim armors Squash Time Break. Then, the boys JOKE about having bad matchups as they swap opponents, and after a synchronized swap into Fourze and Wizard, we get a great shot of the two going past each other to get to their respective matches. A Limit Time Break and Strike Time Burst later, and we get Ghost and OOO. I like this pairing for the simultaneous finisher, actually, if only because looking back, these two arcs actually showed a lot of similarities stylistically.
These were the two arcs that really showed how they can work together.
Another OOO (sup, Kuroto?) summoned Yummies, who they fought in an enclosed structure a lot like this one, which really helped show how Geiz and Sougo could work together. The OOO arc also had a lot of the dealings with “Is this kid really able to become Oma Zi-O?” – it showed how Sougo is kind, in his defaulting to making sure the people stuck near the fight got out, but also he pretended to ally with Kuroto… which was a bluff to see what not to do as a king.
Another Ghost summoned a small horde of ganma in his arc that they fought together in 2015, but that’s a small comparison. Sougo was stuck in Takeru’s old situation – and Geiz took it on himself to fix the problem. We could see how concerned he was for Sougo – and he hadn’t really allowed that to show before.
The arc immediately following Ghost was when Sougo tried to give up the driver. That’s when Geiz of all people convinced him to put it back on – to be the kind of king who protects people. His saying he would be the one take Sougo out if he starts going evil was originally a threat and a warning. After Ghost, though? It was a reassurance and a promise.
A promise that he wouldn’t let that happen.
One Scanning Time Break and one Omega Time Burst add up to one perfectly aligned Dual Rider Kick.
...This fight feels like the last time we’re going to see these finishers again.
It might not be, but it gives that vibe. That vibe of “Use all of the forms combined, this is the chance. They’ve been outclassed, so here is their grand finale.”
THIS IS TEAMWORK RIGHT HERE.
Taking advantage of Revive Typhoon’s speed, and it’s ability to outpace the precog abilities of Zi-O II, in order to get the advantage on Another Zi-O and make sure he stays in the line of fire for Zi-O’s attack is SUPER CLEVER.
...I don’t think I can do Sougo’s talk with Hiryuu justice, save that it’s hitting Geiz just as hard as the exhaustion is.
“You need to start moving forward, and stop dwelling in the past.”
For Hiryuu and Sougo, it’s a bus accident that was no accident, costing them their parents.
For Geiz, it’s fighting an overlord, and losing everyone.
It looks like it might get through to Hiryuu, but… there’s just one thing.
The Another Zi-O watch shatters… until it doesn’t. Time is still moving normally, the watch starts to disintegrate, and then reforms itself in reverse. Time is still moving normally.
“Neither of us can really stand, and I admit I over did it, but we still have to settle this.”
“Okay. I get it. But, first, quick favor?”
“Zi-O, wth.”
“Go back to the shop? It’s not the same.”
“...if I can. I don’t think I’m making it out of this fight, but if I can. But. Tsukuyomi’s-”
A distortion in the air.
“Boys, stop! You don’t have to fight!  I think there’s a way around this!”
This, too, is Deca- Actually, no. We’re not going there today, after all. Thank you, Tsukasa. Ya did good.
It’s really nice to see them start laughing in sync. It’s even nicer to see Geiz happy at all. To see him smile.
Geiz, you, Uh. Should probably tell Sougo that Revive is killing you, and do it soon. That’d be a good idea.
Okay, earlier Junichiro was working on a washing machine, and that’s still at the shop, but now there’s also a minifridge. Who keeps dragging these things in here?!
But I love everything about this scene.
Geiz: “He won’t become the overlord. We won’t let it happen.”
Black!Woz: “Hi there, we’re roommates now.”
Geiz: “...so, I’ve found a new person to kill.”
Hn. White!Woz appears to be Swartz’s underling… apparently, whatever his plan was has failed, and they’ll be going back to relying on “Sir Swartz’s”.
Heure, Hora, get OUT of there.
So, I’m not watching this out of slightly mis-guided completionism anymore. Or spite.
I genuinely like Zi-O. The start was rough, yeah, but… once it finally kicked into Plot Mode, it started GOING for it.
Case in point: This ‘liveblog’ is over 4,000 words, and it took me… about four hours to watch two 22-minute episodes.
This is FUN.

Fandom Meme
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
Uuuh, well, lemme think, for fantoms that aren’t sonic stuff, I enjoy Retsuko and Haida because adorable. Angus and Gregg from NITW is too adorable for it’s own good.
Sonic wise, well, I’m not strong on my ships but they’re are some I do think about or do think are matching, I think Shade and Knuckles are a good match, I enjoy Espio and Tikal, especially in my canon.
I do love Locke and Luger a lot though, since I can see them working in my canon, but other then that, I’m not huge on ships so eh.
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
Locke and Luger, mainly because they were related but then with some fanart and talking with friends of mine, especially @terraqua111, I started to like it and my friends had a point that they were too distantly related for it to matter anymore. She also showed me Lien-Da and Xenin which I liked.
I also didn’t consider Locke to be paired with anyone else before Luger, then I saw @lockewat‘s ship, Chuck and Locke... and I thought it was quite suiting as well.
Two other ones are Vanilla and Big because that was so adorable and that would be such a peaceful relationship good god it’s what they’d both need, so many picnics for dates. and @motobugg did some work on Rouge and Wave which I have never considered and I immediately thought... damn that would actually work a lot. XD Also Shadamy at some points due to a friends artwork and Shadow would be balanced from Amy’s personality that he would need.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will. I’ve never been big on Julie-Su and Knuckles, in the comics it felt kind of forced to me, same with Sonic and Sally, that I don’t see them suiting each other at all.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Ummm, I don’t know, I can’t think of one.
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh, I don’t know.
F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
Sonic fandom. XDD Been in that for around 8-9 years. Since I was 9 or 10 years old.
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
I think it would’ve just been Shade and Knuckles. lol Again ships aren’t my life.
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?
Mainly ongoing stuff, I know it started with games, so I guess games? But I enjoy shows/series as well.
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
Ummmm... not that I know of.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Animal Crossing? I didn’t start playing the phone game until I saw people talking and reblogging stuff about it, then I tried it.
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Well, in Steven Universe, a lot of the character have great arcs, that who their true opinions and colours, like how Amethyst had self-hating habits, Pearl didn’t think she was worth much, and seeing Peridot’s growing into a whole different gem, it’s really cool.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
I’ll go with um... Lars from Steven Universe, I didn’t like him much as a character at first, but I could understand his insecurity and being unsure on how to act and how to show himself, and being scared to show his true colours... but now he’s showing his own worth and letting himself be who he is with the Off-colours, which I can genuinely appreciate about him, he’s much better as a character now.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Can I say the entire brotherhood? XD I would love that like you wouldn’t believe.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
Just more Brotherhood content in general, uuuummm more monster-related AU’s? I don’t know, maybe more merchandise too? I don’t know I’m not all that demanding about content. o-o I’m terrible at this.
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
All the Way (Jacksepticeye fan song) is the one that came up on shuffle, and it reminded me of Hawking, at least my version. I could imagine he would listen to this to motivate himself or something like that.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
...Trying not to say Monster AU for any sort of fandom CRAP TOO LATE-
But what about a Shape of Water-esque AU?
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
I haven’t really abandoned any fandom? o-O R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
When they’re not a couple and they’re just best friends, Locke and Luger I guess, they act like big dorks. I don't know, I don’t think about relationships much besides family ones.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
Hmm, well, I feel while Locke doesn’t know what his main sexuality is right now, he’d feel he’d be in writing (sexuality)/Asexual, as he never really had sexual feelings, he only had sex in order to have his son, and he honestly never liked it all that much.
I also have a head canon that Steppenwolf is afraid of humiliation, or just making a fool of himself in social situations (he’s got a very well hidden social anxiety), so if he saw a bunch of people staring at him and whispering to each other, he’d instantly become worried about what he did.
Another head canon is that I love to imagine Sabre can swordfight very well, and the person who taught him is surprisingly Tobor. As he was very good with a sword and shield combo back in the day (before his injuries).
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
That Steppenwolf is a werewolf okay not really, I’m not really about strong head canons that I would ‘die defending’. I just like the thought of him being one because it’d be ironic for his name... and it’s just with me for so long man.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Steppenwolf (Sonic Fandom I guess)- I still don't fully understand why I liked him, I simply did but nowadays I just find the character I made him an extremely interesting character and every time I’ve wrote something or drawn something to try and cheer myself up, it made me feel he’d be a very strong, protective and oddly supportive in his own way. I’m not sure. I’m weird.
Lapis Lazuli (Steven Universe Fandom)- I just want her to be happy, I find her really interesting, her powers are really cool and I just want to know how things turn out for her, it just sucks that she tends to disappear for long periods of time.
Angus (Night in the Woods)-He’s a bit underrated but he’s just so cute to me, especially with how others draw him, I love his character and I feel bad for him when he takes about his abusive childhood and issues growing up that made him who he is today, made me want to give him a big hug.
V - Which character do you relate to most?
Well, I feel I can relate to Angus at a few points, always feeling like I have to be the responsible one, being usually quiet and wanting to hide in corners in parties (and your friend that you stick to is your corner in those situations),
I also feel I can relate to Retsuko from Aggretsuko, always trying to keep calm and from losing my temper, also Mister Ton kind of reminds me of my dad at some points... and he can piss me off just as much as he does with Retsuko so yeah.
Part of me also feels like I relate to my version of Rembrandt, he’s an artist, he deals with a lot of emotional issues, he’s insecure about his body size/weight, very motherly/fatherly and protective.
I dunno.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Annoying characters that think they’re full of themselves and practically perfect while thinking everyone else is below them and everyone is unworthy of their ‘greatness’... or mary-sues.
Or just a needlessly dramatic moments or moments of anger and arguments that don’t need to happen.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
Kind of the big strong protective one with a heart of gold and is very loving whether they show it or not, or big ass ones who are strong as hell but are really just gentle giants.
And probably monsters stuff like werewolves or stuff but sometimes that can backfire and become annoying.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Team Fortress 2 is one, have a few friends who like that game while I don’t like it much anymore for personal reasons, some horror fandoms like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Little Nightmares all of that. Idk
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
Umm... I always strive to make my Guardians unique in different situations, hell, I imagined they were in certain AU’s or in certain video game situations, like a fighting game, I’d like imagining like ‘finishing moves’ they’d have or the type of weapons they’d have, or even simple stuff like hobbies or favourite foods. Just stuff like that... and I will try everything in my power to be unique, like in my Gem AU, wanted all the gems to be different and at the least unique, and the same with the Monster AU, only Thunder and Steppe’s are the same but they have a difference.
Okay that’s enough. ^^; This was really difficult surprisingly.

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
I was in love with Dazai and every time saw his face I was just like “god damnit you hot fuck” but this was shorter
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Uhhhhhhhhh on tumblr the BDSM Mafia!Dazai smut (surprise lmao) and from AO3 probably something SNK related since those have been on there the longest. Mixed maybe?
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
I think its the same one from my personal blog and idk I just like the manga aesthetic
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
on tumblr yeah. well like..rebloggers. but i 1000% stalk the tags on all my reblogs.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Siren of the Misty Seas by @yokohamastraydogs, a few recently good Chuuya smut fics on AO3 (i can only quench my own thirst for so long lmao), there was this one general fic on AO3 that revolved around Dazai’s POV but I haven’t been on in so long I can’t think of the name. Other than that the only other series I followed was written by wifey ( @dirtylevi ) for SNK and she hasn’t updated in ten millions years (:
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
none. i rarely use A03 tbh other than non-insert fics which I don’t have much of atm.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Dazai staying in the mafia lmao. I can’t help it I just love him in those situations.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
fffffffffffffffffffffff idk on AO3 tbh but the OG blog had 2k and this one is at about 1500 rn.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Yes?? ish?? Smut related things are weird because I write smut for other people to enjoy but idk where everyone else’s kinks stop because I’m a kinkier mother fucker and not everyone is??
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
DIALOGUE. WTF IS THAT
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
pfdjkaslfjdklas;a i write no ships (which is why i rarely use A03) but platonic my favorites to write are chuuaku & odazai. I’d like to explore Kouyou and Chuuya’s relationship at some point.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
sO MANY. I have an entire series of all my SNK one-shots just grouped together, and then my now four BSD series. & two unfinished snk long-fics................................oops
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
Only the BSD series. All of my old SNK fics (which was a fucking lot) are on my graveyard of a DA profile.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Head. I write them out on the notebook Kazoo gave me when I have the time or else they clog my brain and I get annoyed.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
Nah
16. How did you discover AO3?
fuck if i know
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Hell nah lmao
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
idk i call my followers kinky little fucks when im reading the tags???
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Yes, a lot of them do still.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Practice is the only way you’ll get better.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Uhhhhhhh I have this problem of having one specific scene of a story and its usually a middle part and then i’m obsessed with it but the beginning? the end?? the fuck are those?
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Uh on one of my old smut fics for SNK someone said something about a lot of whores being on A03 like ??? what does that even mean?? the few times throughout the years ive only been slut-shamed on my smut lmao. and once about Aku shoving it in dry that started this whole salty debate about BDSM and the ignorance on tumblr was astounding. 23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
SMUT IS HARD. There are only so many words for “dick”. I’m a visual writer too so sensory details are my wheelhouse, anything else im like uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, especially with motions in smut like 98% of my life is trying to imagine position switching in my head and then forming words to explain it.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
in my head? a lot. in real life? None because I have no god damn time.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
ask my graveyard of unfinished series.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Writing at all is the only goal I have and even that’s not realistic.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Hell yea boiiii
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Unsettled [Levi] solely because the difference in my writing was like..ridiculous compared to my old style. I loved how it turned out. Like Smoke [Mafia!Dazai] has that same dark and kind of hazy feel to it and I love that series. That one where I fucked up Armin in a Zombie AU That one chuuaku fic that I don’t remember the name of.  That one where I fucked up Dazai and all the tags were turmoil and I loved it.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
I hate the organization of TDOC. It’s on my list of re-writes tbh. Same with the BDSM centered mafia!dazai smut..thing..like it kind of ended up being this weird series-but-not and now I want to just...make it a collective thing because I have control issues and its bothering me.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Hopefully fucking writing and not running a fucking Aeropostale and wanting to stab my eyes out lmao
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
imagining it in my head
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
VERBS
33. Why do you write? Escape. Expression. Thirst tagging these thots: @bungou-stray-dogs-indulgences @yokohamastraydogs @scarletwrittenblack @nenufair

About Me As a Writer
Tagged by @foxyena Thank you so much!!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? My tumblr username obviously comes from Aizawa from BNHA. He’s one of my favorite characters and he’s voiced by one of my favorite seiyuu’s, Junichi Suwabe. My old username novocaine-sea (which is novocaine_sea on AO3) came from a song by the band Senses Fail! The lyrics go “I wanna drown in a sea filled with novocaine” I had that username from my bandom days and couldn’t part with it
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos).
Fruitless has the most of all of these things, over 200 bookmarks, 726 kudos, almost 9000 hits and 100 subs! But as for active fics Side Effects is the second best with 90 subs!
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
My AO3 icon is a sleeping Bakugou cap from the anime bc he looks like such an angel I love him so much
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Yes!! My fav commenters are @vairenna, @emotabek and @mirikiri93 but i also love every single person who comments on my stories anyway because they’re all so lovely and supportive and I cherish every single one of them
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Right now I’ve been going back and reading Feathers Are the Least of These by mousapelli (I’m unsure if they have a tumblr account). It’s a Tokoyami x Deku fic and it’s really wonderful I love it a lot.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I have 830 bookmarks (it’s a mess I had more but went through and deleted a bunch one day, I need to do it again) and I don’t know how to see the exact number of works I’m subscribed to but there are 5 pages worth, though half of them are most likely completed
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Well I tend to keep coming back to serial killer AUs, are AUs that are particularly blody. I think I have at least one planned for each fandom I’m in, and have already accomplished that with Haikyuu. Though I do wanna write more.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
I have 145 user subscriptions and 1655 bookmarked
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I have a, uh, cannibal fic planned? Which I feel like a lot of people wouldn’t be cool with so I’m gonna keep it to myself for now lmao
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Fluff mostly. I’m not very good at it and i feel like compared to my angst and smut even it comes out really lackluster
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I really love rarepairs, my favorite pairs are SemiSuga and MatsuAka, but lately I’ve found myself writing IwaOi which is strange bc they’re not even one of my main ships. But I love both rarepairs and popular ships equally!
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Okay so my AO3 says 56 but I’ve deleted at least 5 or 6 from it so it’s more in the 60s.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
Oh god I don’t even want to count but I have at least 5 WIPs for Haikyuu, BNHA, and YOI respectively
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I do the bad thing of keeping some of them in my head but I really try to write down a lot of them.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
I have not! But I was planning to cowrite something with my friend Erin! I think it would be fun to cowrite with somebody :)
16. How did you discover AO3?
My best friend Faith made me read this one Teen Wolf fic called “DILF” and I’ve been on AO3 ever since!
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Oh no not at all
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Do fandom authors do that?
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
A lot but I would credit @thewiselearnfromhistory as my biggest inspiration. Idk where she disappeared off to but she’s a wonderful friend and an amazing writing (she’s ConesofDunshire on AO3)
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Write what you want to see. Don’t try and copy other writer’s style; develop your own while reading their works. It’s okay to be inspired by other people’s writing.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I’ve done both! I had a really intense outlie for Fruitless but it ended in a way that was not plan. Half of what happened in the fic was not planned until I actually wrote the completed chater. I really thik it’s fun to let the fic take you where it wants to go. Currently I’ve planned out all the chapters of Side Effects but they’ll probably end up being scrapped, at least half of it.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yes! I have been told that my grammar is awful and the story would have been more readable and enjoyable if I had a “better grasp on my grammar.” I’ve been told that the way I write certain characters is extremely OOC. I’ve been told that characters would never do that because they’re monsters and not kind souls. But the amount of positive comments I’ve gotten outweighs the bad ones tenfold
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
I’m really bad with action scenes but I’ve been writing BNHA which is an action packed series so I’ve been trying to use that as my “training” I guess
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
My biggest priority right now is Side Effects as that is my main work on AO3 right now. But I will return to Untucking and the TodoMomo fic eventually. I am also working on some Kacchako secret Santa stuff!
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Lmao yes it’s an ISSUE
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No but my only goal right now is to finish Side Effects chapter 23 because it’s been giving me issues so that’s my goal every day right now
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Oh my fucking god yes. I read the UshiOi smut that I have posted on AO3 and I cringe SO HARD. My friend told me that, that was their favorite fic of mine (or one of them at least) and I was like why... please....
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
I would say Fruitless, but I also really love Golden. IT evoked a lot of emotion from me and I really love that piece of writing. But also Side Effects. And Wisteria. I can’t pick a favorite
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Ahhhh the UshiOi story aforementioned. And anything I’ve deleted from AO3
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I hope to still be writing for fandom because I do enjoy it, but I also hope to be writing my own original work and maybe have a short story or two published? I think it would be nice to get into a fandom zine too!
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
I think putting intense emotions into the characters and everything around them is my strong suit. I love breaking characters down and getting to the root of their problems
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Keeping things happy! I always return right back to the angst and I need to fucking relax with it it’s bad
33. Why do you write?
I write for myself, to get my ideas out there, and hopefully write something that other people love and enjoy fully. I write to make friends and to meet people who will inspire me and who I can inspire too. I love the way writing and art in general in fandom connects people. It’s really special :)
Tagging: @hamletsprozac @tenacioustooru @caelestisxyz @tootsonnewts @meimagino @seekingsquake and anybody else who wants to do it! don’t feel pressured

Tagged by @yokohamastraydogs . Thank you!
Tag game under the cut cause it’s kinda long:
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
No one had this url yet so it was kinda the obvious choice based on what I was planning on posting. It doesn’t get more straightforward than this kids.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
I didn’t take Wattpad into account because I’m lazy. The most I have on Tumblr is 42 notes on this one. Kinda surprising since I usually get 10-20 something notes on most stuff here. This scenario is an outlier lol.
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
I don’t use AO3 much and I don’t even think my account had an icon.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I appreciate all the comments I get, so I don’t think I really have any favourite people who do so.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I mostly just go back and read Fyodor related scenarios that are actually decent. They’re in short supply.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
None lol, even when I used AO3 regularly I never did anything like that.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
I mostly like writing AUs based on other fictional media I really like. Usually films, but I also have that Crime & Punishment AU.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
I have 451 followers right now.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I can’t really think of anything off the top of my head. I mean I do have some fucked up smut ideas but I can’t write smut for shit even if it’s vanilla.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’d like to get better at writing smut, and just in general writing actions because I think that’s a major problem of mine. I also need to get better at replying to comments because I never know what to say to people. Of course it would also be nice if I was able to update more frequently.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I don’t write ships...
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
None.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
15. Seems like a lot but I only write scenarios. I’ve never written a full story with chapters because I have commitment issues. At the most I’ve only done a sequel type thing.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I have a list of a bunch of ideas. If an idea gets big enough and I feel the need to write it, I’ll write down all the stuff I can think of for it in a document.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No.
16. How did you discover AO3?
Probably when I was looking for fanfiction in 2013. I won’t mention the fandom because I kinda regret being into it now. I read a lot of things I shouldn’t have read at 14.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
No lmao. Fyodor’s not a super popular character as it is. I feel like I’m probably well known enough for my liking though.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
No. I’m not that corny lol
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Ummm, idk? I do like novels but idk if any of them ever inspired me to write all that much. I’ve never really written a decent original story because in all honesty I don’t care much about that. I write this stupid fanfiction as wish fulfillment for myself because nobody would do it for me at the time.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Practice a lot, read a lot. I say read because it’ll help broaden your horizons, vocabulary, and give you ideas on styles to experiment with. You’ll likely also get a lot of inspiration from a good book, so don’t only read fanfiction.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
Sometimes I just have a rough idea and start from there. In other cases I have most of what I want to happen written out and I just have to connect all of the pieces. Usually when it’s the latter though a lot ends up changing as I write.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
I don’t think I’ve had a bad comment before. The worst I’ve gotten is someone asking about the logic I used once, and I replied with what I actually meant. They were nice about it though originally and understood where I was coming from after I informed them. I’ve also had people point out a pun I accidentally made once, it kinda detracted from the seriousness of the story so looking back on it I feel like a dumbass.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Anything involving describing movement in all honesty. It’s at the point where I’d rather just only write dialogue, I love dialogue.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Just working on requests. I also have some ongoing one shots I thought of myself that I might finish eventually.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Yeah. I just write what I’m in the mood for sometimes, so there’s a few things that only have a page written or haven’t been touched in ages.
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No. I’m really busy so I usually just write whenever I have free time and feel like it.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Yeah, for sure. I’m not sure if it’s by much but I do see it.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Hmm, not sure. Though I like my angst more than anything else usually.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
I’m not really a big fan of the first one I wrote, since it’s mediocre. I’m also not super into the high school AU I did a little bit after that.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I don’t plan on writing for my career and I don’t see myself continuing to write fanfic for that long. By then at most I’d probably be writing papers for grad school or writing a report for my job.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Dialogue -- for me at least.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Describing movement and actions.
33. Why do you write?
It’s something to do with my free time. It’s also partially for wish fulfillment.

15/5/2017
So its 2am, its fucking freezing cold, but I have to write this because if I dont, itll be just like all the other stuff I look back on and wish I had some recollection of how I felt. Like all my childhood diaries that I started. Or the abandoned derby tumblr thats still lurking somewhere. Anyway.
I had my initial appointment with a surgeon today about weight loss surgery. I’ve been thinking about surgery since about 2013, and seriously for the last 9 months or so. I’ve talked to several people who have had various surgeries (including mum, my friend and a friend of my aunts), and done my research. Ive discussed this with my (awesome amazing wonderful) GP, and our work counsellor Ann-Marie, who are both incredibly supportive. I’m paying for this surgery privately, which cuts hugely into the savings Ive accumulated since I was 15 for a house, but I can wait for a house. Every year I don't do this is a year Im kinda wasting my youth on being huge and not happy and making excuses for not doing things Id like to do. Not that Im unhappy all the time, but my weight is a safety blanket, kinda like my depression was my safety blanket for not leaving oamaru. I just dont wanna wait until Im accepted into public surgery (which Ive been on the list for since 2013) because at that point Ill probably be in my 50s and have so many health issues. Like for goodness sake, im 26 and I have pre-diabetes, polycystic ovaries that mean im probs infertile, a perpetually sore back that means i cant walk for more than a block without having to stop, my knees and ankles give out randomly. Anyway. Im rambling.
My appointment was with Dr Flint, who I chose because thats who my friend had surgery with (and because the other guy was the one who did my consult for public surgery and he was a right royal douche). He was lovely, and explained both procedures (roux-en-y and gastric sleeve) really well. Im going to have a gastric sleeve, because the ongoing risk of complications like IBS and hernias are smaller (and because you dont have to be on vitamins for life and my god i hate taking meds). He weighed me - ive put on like 5kg since i last weighed myself (fuck) but to be fair i did have my docs on. So my offical starting weight is 157.8kg, which is a terrifying number and also this is probably the first time ive admitted my weight to anyone who isnt a medical professional in a long long time holy shit. Apparently if everything goes well i should be around 95kg afterwards (like 2 years away).
After I went through everything with the surgeon, I saw his nurse? receptionist? general fucking awesome person Denise. Shes so lovely. She talked me through the appointments I need to have next (which tbh is part of the reason I want to to it privately, because i know its not just about the surgery, its about learning to live as a smaller person, and i fucking dont know how to eat properly, and id really like to do some exercises that dont hurt my damn back all the time). So I have to see the dietician, and an exercise consultant, and a psychiatrist, and then back to the surgeon for pre-op appt. My surgery is scheduled for the 11th July, which means Ill be on preop diet from like, the 13th June I think? I might buy some optifast and try it for some breakfasts first. Im so not looking forward to that bit.
Then because I was like, nervous as fuck after my appointment, I went and cuddled ellas tiny humans and then talked to laura and watched sense8.
My biggest fears at the moment are:
-me fucking this up. like what if i cat do it, if my willpower is awful, and i screw it up and throw $20k down the drain. How shit will I feel about myself if the surgery doesnt work, because theres not really any more drastic options. what if i put all the weight back on like my uncle, or drink frozen coke and dont eat protein like my mum
-mum. i havent told her yet....im telling her tomorrow. im worried shes gunna be weird about it. not in a “you shouldnt have the surgery” kinda of way, im worried she will want to know how much i weigh, and give me well meaning comments about how i shouldnt be eating this or that, or go the other way and want to have a massive blowout before i start optifast.
-who do i tell? apart from the internel lol (im guessing only like 3 people i know in real life will read this). do i tell my dad? i should but again, im so worried about what he’ll think, how he’ll judge me.
-i think in general im so used to the comments about my weight that im really caught up with it as part of my identity? Like I hate all the health and fitness ads because it just reminds me of me not being fit and healthy, but i wonder if some part of me likes being fat to be a rebel, because some weird part of me feels like im failing by conforming to societys (and my dads) wishes about how i look and act. idk.
- hahahahahh optifast. ive heard it tastes awful and i have 6 weeks of it, then purees (goodie), then soft food. also imma have to eat veggies. fuck.
I’m excited about:
-being able to maybe actually skate well?! being able to do general things like run after izzy or go for a bike ride with people without being like yeah nah i cant do that because it hurts. itd be nice to walk up the stairs without looking like ive run a half marathon. id be nice to walk to work without my back cramping up so bad i have to stop and stretch it several times.
-im kinda looking forward to meeting with the exercise person. I see a lot of people in the #GRRLarmy and stuff and I want to be strong, but I am terrified of the gym and im really hoping shell be able to help and be a good motivation
-the dietician will be good to because lord knows im terrible at cooking for myself no matter how many well meaning people try and teach me. i just wish i didnt have to eat.
-possibly having lower food bills - currently i spend like a quarter of my income on food which is ridiculous and i dont know how to stop.
Right so that was a novel. Now its 3am and i have to go talk to my boss and ask her for time off for 5 preop appointments in the next 6 weeks, as well as hi im going to need 2 weeks off work lololol. Oh, and tell my mum im having major surgery in 6 weeks and i didnt tell her i had an appointment to talk about it. whoops. wish me luck x

Me: *posts an ask prompt*Kelly: write me a fucking encyclopedia of your life1: Do you have a crush at the moment?Ye my boyfriend
3: Longest relationship you’ve ever been in?If you include non exclusive not technically dating then about a year and a few months. Exclusive dating 2 months lol
4: Have you ever changed for someone?Kinda? I’m the kind of person that adapts to the people I’m around tho I do it for friends too. It’s more of I adopt the personality traits or quirks of people I admire.
9: What’s the most important part of a relationship?Being emotionally intimate with each other/caring about and being compatible the other person
14: What age do you think is appropriate for kids to start having sex?Depends on the person honestly, I’d say 16 is the very youngest and even then I don’t think a lot of 16 year olds having sex are actually mature enough for it. I personally think sex is more important and a bigger deal than most people do tho.
15: Do you believe in the phrase “age is just a number”?To an extent but there’s obviously limitations (pedophilia is gross) and I think 10+ year age gaps are kinda weird unless you’re over 50 but idk
18: What do you consider a deal breaker? Not respecting things I value even if to them they’re trivial
19: How do you know it’s time to end a relationship? When you realize things aren’t going to work whether you try hard or not, or when you realize it’s harmful to you or your partner
20: Are you currently in a relationship?Yes
21: Do you think people who have dated can stay friends?Yes but it honestly depends on what happened. If it turns out they were a shitty person then nah.
22: Do you think people should date their friends?I feel like if you’re dating you are also friends, but as far as dating from your friend group sometimes it can fuck things up if things go south but of it happens it happens sometimes it’s worth the risk.
23: How many relationships have you had?On my 3rd official “dating” relationship but I had an additional 2 almost-relationships/“flings” or whatever you wanna call it, one lasting like 2 weeks and one lasting over a year.
26: Would you break up with someone your parents didn’t approve of?It would depend on their reasoning my parents can be judgmental of things I don’t personally think are worth ending a relationship for
27: If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice about dating what would it be?Sometimes just shut up and let yourself enjoy the moment without working too hard to make it special. I still need to know this sometimes.
29: What do you notice first about another person?Um either eyes or smile or hair idk
33: Do you want to get married one day?Yes
39: Have you ever given anyone/received roses?I’ve only ever gotten roses from my parents
40: Have you ever had a valentine?Yeah once it was lame tho this year sucks because we can’t be together for complicated reasons
41: What’s your imagination of a “perfect date”?Something where we can smile and enjoy each other and have fun, doesn’t matter what we’re doing. Although I really love nap dates.
45: Could you imagine to date one of your current friends?Maybe but not really idk
48: What’s your favorite love song?Honestly idk I like a lot of different music I’ll just pick one it’s typical af but whateverProbably James Dean & Audrey Hepburn by Sleeping With Sirens (the chill acoustic one)?
49: Have you ever broken someone’s heart?Idk maybe who knows. I actually broke up with someone on April fools day tho and they seemed super upset54: How important is it to make a relationship official (p.e. on Facebook)?I think making it exclusive and defined is very important to me, as far as like on Facebook I think it’s important unless there’s sound reasoning not to (anxiety, family pressures, ongoing legal issues, protection from crazy exes etc)
62: How do you define “cheating”?Idk honestly. If they had any sexual relations in any capacity while you were still together then it’s definitely cheating no matter what, where as like a kiss or having sex while you were temporarily broken up or something isn’t technically “cheating” but it can similarly be very difficult to get over so I can see why someone might consider it to be the same
You’re lucky I love you Kelly this is so much
