Jake Livingston is one of the only Black kids at St. Clair Prep, one of the others being his infinitely more popular older brother. It's hard enough fitting in but to make matters worse and definitely more complicated, Jake can see the dead. In fact he sees the dead around him all the time.
Most are harmless. Stuck in their death loops as they relive their deaths over and over again, they don't interact often with people. But then Jake meets Sawyer. A troubled teen who shot and killed six kids at a local high school last year before taking his own life. Now a powerful, vengeful ghost, he has plans for his afterlife–plans that include Jake.
Suddenly, everything Jake knows about ghosts and the rules to life itself go out the window as Sawyer begins haunting him and bodies turn up in his neighborhood. High school soon becomes a survival game–one Jake is not sure he's going to win.

Bookclub Info!
Hello and welcome! This is an online bookclub dedicated to reading through the Trigun manga series (which is Trigun, followed by Trigun Maximum). We’ll be reading one volume a week, and if you’re unsure where to read, check out @trigun-manga-overhaul. They’re a wonderful fantranslation group and have the most accurate translation out there!
Guidelines and Info
Have fun! This isn’t meant to add more pressure or stress to your life, just to have fun reading a widely beloved manga <3
First-time readers and re-readers are both welcome!
Post your thoughts/theories/questions/memes to the #TrigunBookclub tag here on Tumblr (or Twitter!) to participate with your fellow fans!
Please don’t post spoilers beyond the current volume in the tag. (If someone’s maliciously trying to spoil new readers’ fun, I’ll make a post with their username so you can block them and avoid seeing anything.)
Nightow’s artwork is beautiful, but sometimes readers find the action/dialog a bit hard to follow. Feel free to post in the tag asking for help deciphering things!
While the manga is a brilliant story, it covers very dark themes. It’s obviously full of spoilers, but if you need to know about a trigger, there is a Does the Dog Die page for the manga. There’s also a chapter-by-chapter TW list created by a Tumblr user here.
If you fall behind or come in late, no worries! Feel free to hop in at your leisure, just know the tag will have spoilers for the current volume.
The ask box is open! If for some reason you have a question about anything related to spoilers, hit up my personal blog @revenantghost to keep this profile spoiler-free.
Again, since we’re all waiting for Dark Horse to re-print physical copies, check out @trigun-manga-overhaul for the best translation out there for free!
Be kind to others! This is supposed to be a fun experience for a franchise that a lot of us love or are interested in. :D
