Once again I have been engulfed in the need to write something regarding the new episode “SMG4: The Inspection”. I kinda wrote this like a live commentary sooooo watching the vid and reading these silly notes might make this better but meh whatevs! I am writing this for fun anyways =w=
First impression from the thumbnail? Smg3 is front and center = This is gonna be neat~
0:36-0:44 Pigstep with Swag was something I didn’t know I needed until now.
0:55-1:04 The plushie bit worked dammit. My humor is broken.
1:08 something interesting to note -> Smg3 said “You can help hide this body”. He is actually just requesting help for once with no convoluted way of making it some ‘deal’ or smtg. Maybe the stress over an inspection made him say this or he is developing idk but I found it worthy to point out!
2:38 AAAH idk why but Smg3 still calling Four “his assistant” makes me happy :)
3:21-3:34 Not me thinking this was gonna be a “Emesis Blue” reference. AHHH this episode is so fluffy with Four helping Three and nobody can tell me otherwise.
4:29-4:39 Man poor Mario :/
4:40 This? This is when I realized. THIS IS A STAR TRIO EPISODE YAY!
5:55-6:14 Okay this? This is good. I like this joke ALOT.
6:45-7:17 OH the DRAMA! The TWIST! What a wonderful episode.
8:10-8:18 AaAAAAa! Meggy as scout <3 This is so cool. Wonder if issa reference to Mimi the sentry tho >.>
8:52-8:57 I’ll be honest… I know a tiny bit abt TF2 and I think “[…] a fighting spirit!” won’t help you win against a soldier player, just saying =_=‘
9:06-9:15 Awh :)
10:16-10:21 Silly ending but also so fitting.
Jokes: [Wanted to give it a 10 outta smtg rating similarly to my other post. However I realized I need to first define what would be a 10 and what would be a 0 to do that… OOF] I really liked the jokes in this one! The ‘atmosphere’ of this episode overall was also nice. Lighthearted fun and silliness is my typa thing :3 Deffo would have a high rating!
Closing statement -> I was surprised that this episode was so good idk I had lower expectations going in for some reason? I love how it turns out to be a TF2 episode tho~
[Note: Decided to add the tag #Anons_C.A.R since u know, when I write my commentary/analysis/review stuff I wanna have a easy way to search it ig + man I want my laptop back. Writing this without it was hard x_x’]

When you have an AU idea in your head… how do you get it to become more than just, “oh, that’s a neat concept it should be Clexafied” to fleshing it out into an actual thing? I have tiny ideas or like a general ‘I want to see them in such and such context’ but that’s where it ends. 😞 i’d like to write something for the fandom but yeah…dunno how to get there.
Oof well I may not be the best option to pick because I really have no idea what I'm doing, I'm just wingin it lol but idrk. I guess for me personally when I get an idea for a story I like I start mentally trying to evolve it in my head? Sometimes it's easier than others, sometimes the thoughts/plot points/scenes just build themselves.
I don't think I'm describing this well.
Ok so for example, professor au. The initial thought came from an ask about a teacher/student fic rec that got me thinking about how cool it would be to see that trope flipped on its head. Older professor and older student having a secret affair. So I thought about what that would look like, what their challenges would be. Then I started thinking about the characters. What personalities do they have? Who are they as people outside of this situation? How would all this bring them together? What would happen to make them fall in love?
I just kinda start doing it, granted subconsciously, because when I get an idea for something the creative juices kinda just start taking over and then it's like one thought leads to the next that leads to the next in rapid fire. So it was like "Ooo hot older professor Lexa.... Milf Clarke.... what would that look like... divorced mom with a teen kid... jaded but, not broken. She's too tough for that.... that's why she's returning to college... she's feisty... she likes a challenge... she's in a place in her life where she wants to be more daring. To push herself beyond her boring life.... And then there's professor Lexa... nerdy type.... maybe standoffish?... no, no. She puts on a front with students. She's lonely, but she presents herself as ok. Distant, but friendly. The type where you realize you've had her for 7 classes over 4 years and yet you don't really know anything about her. But. She's a teacher who inspires her students to work. Makes them want to work hard to please her. They want to follow her word and guidance... so there's these two personality types that meet in the atmosphere of the classroom, one looking to challenge her students and another looking to be challenged.... where would that lead them? What challenges will they face? How would this relationship evolve? How would they deal with the idea of their attraction vs the social taboos and regulations surrounding their situation? Personally how would they deal with it?" And then literally I just think about what they would do in various scenarios. Things like what would their first kiss be like? Their first time admitting feelings? Would they let themselves cross there boundary of sex at school? What about meeting Madi? Etc.
Am I making any sense?
I guess what I'm saying is, when you have an idea, actively try and unfold it. Dig into, and as you do the story kind of comes to you in bits and pieces until eventually you start to realize that you have plot points and character nuance and holy fuck there's a story here
At least that's how it is for me. Other writers with other processes are very much welcome to jump on this post with their thoughts and methods

**edited to say, I mocked the overstimulator getting his zzzzzzs, and then the overstimulatee (me) followed soon thereafter, hence you actually receiving this in the morning, whoops!**
Preamble: Former HLJ (Hubs like Joon) anon back with a review (of sorts?) I figured I'd finally be able to get it to you by stupid o'clock (late late... bc Saturday is our weekly, much-beloved, kid-free date night), however *someone* decided that overstimulating his teeny-tiny wife was the name of the game tonight; consequently, he's found himself in need of a nap by 9PM, giving me writing time!
Firstly, has anyone noted the wild parallels between lyrics in The Astronaut and 3tan?
When I’m with you
There is no one else
I get heaven to myself
When I’m with you
There is no one else
I feel this way I’ve never felt
Is this not OC and 3tan Yoongi? Bowing down to your portrayal of Great Love (capitals necessary).
You writing (artistry?) paints truth in relationships, of feelings, chosen families, raw edges, communication, friendship, self-talk, and even insecurities. Oof. I don't know if these come from recounting your true-to-life experiences; otherwise, you are markedly gifted at describing the human condition. The Great Love kind of love? It isn't easy, linear, or perfect. Great Love is hard-fought, it's personal growth from both parties, and even when it feels like two-against-the-world, it's still safe. And, yes, Great Love makes you strain yourself to look back at him, mid-spice because that eye contact is worth a thousand words (indeed, it will replay in your mind for the thousand days that follow...maybe more). It's his delicate concern for her bruises, and her acknowledgement/empathy for what he must have been feeling this whole time. My hope (and maybe because I'm also a mom to a young daughter), is that your readers understand, through 3tan, that while Great Love *looks* different for everyone, it ultimately reaches parts of your heart that didn't, previously, seem to exist. Rooting for them, Ryen, and trusting these two to you, entirely. Bravo. 💜 ~HLJ unnie.
AHHH oh my gosh.. my love. this was incredibly thoughtful and heartfelt. i truly feel all the sentiments you wanted to convey and holy hell i don't know what to do with these feelings??
when i listened to the astronaut.. and saw the lyrics.. it was a whole burst of emotions bc i literally had just gotten off the Forfeit ride. what timing and how fitting is this? and even the space themes laced into the 3tan9 fabric, too. i was just a little overwhelmed with everything hitting me all at once.
i've never seen my writing like how you describe it. like. whenever i read this the first time, i kinda just sat back in my chair and really thought about everything i've been doing with this series. in short: this is more than a piece of fiction.
like i knew that, realized that at some point this year (well, kinda with the first one after i got messages about it from people with similar experiences to reader before they knocked on yoongi's door) but it is def hitting me now that i'm resting. this isn't just words on a page or something i'm sharing. it's a love letter, it's a promise, it's advice, it's.. a reminder. a reminder that everyone is worthy of love, that they aren't their past, that they can change and grow and better themselves even if they feel like damaged goods.
love is out there and we all are deserving of it, whether it's Great, or platonic, familial, or even Self. it's found in the way we send something to someone because we thought of them, or the way we keep eye contact during sex because we want to feel connected every which way possible, or even just telling someone to be careful or to text you when they make it back safe.
My hope (and maybe because I'm also a mom to a young daughter), is that your readers understand, through 3tan, that while Great Love *looks* different for everyone, it ultimately reaches parts of your heart that didn't, previously, seem to exist.
that's my hope, too. you described everything i've been wanting to convey with this series perfectly, and i can't thank you enough for taking the time to send this review bc it's gonna stick in my heart for a very, very long time.

2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
6. What is your darkest fear about writing?
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
16. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?
20. If a witch offered you the choice between eternal happiness with your one true love and the ability to finally finish, perfect, and publish your dearest, darlingest, most precious WIP in exactly the way you've always imagined it — which would you choose? You can’t have both sorry, life’s a bitch
21. Could you ever quit writing? Do you ever wish you could? Why or why not?

38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
Ok some of these I have already answered so I’m just gonna skip those 😊😊 thank you for always making me feel loved sunshine!
4. There are probably so many… but the first one that came to mind is “darling”. Maybe it’s because I always hear it in Hiddlestons sexy sonorous voice. But dude if anyone called me darling I just melt and then wanna jump them. 🤤
5. I don’t think I do have any writing superstitions except maybe that if I’m tempted to add another sexy man to a story it’s inevitable that they will try to take over. Loki is particularly adept at ruining my plots. Haha
6. Oof I mean I write for fun so I don’t have big expectations for it, but I am terrified people who know me will read it and realize how fucking nuts I am. 😬
8. OMG only action or dialogue??? Ahh!!! That’s so horrible. I mean I think only action might be easier for me… but I have no idea how I’d do that… 😱
9. LOL! I LOVE ghosts and supernatural shit, but until I see or experience anything in real life, I maintain my skepticism. I’m definitely a Scully personality.
12. I’d wish to never get writers block! I’d wish that I could write well enough to make it a career. I’d wish that writing stays a joy in my life. 💕
13. Hmm I mean smut is always difficult for me in general but more troubling to write? Hmm I guess I just don’t write things that make me uncomfortable which is probably odd considering what I write 😬 none of the writing is easy to be honest. Hahaha it’s always a challenge, but a fun one.
16. My brother gave me a tiny dream catcher when I was a kid that I loved and used as a bookmark for a while. Kinda bummed I lost that thing.
20. Hahaha Life is a bitch… um I’d probably still pick love over a career. I’m a romantic bitch.
21. I mean I haven’t been writing that long so I could probably go back to life without it.
27. Stressful character?? Hmm I can’t think of a good answer. I feel like Loki is a struggle for me sometimes.
28. I mean I do think that Ransom and Lloyd are the most fun to write for. I don’t know why but I love them.
29. I don’t really have any one place I go… it just kinda hits as I’m reading or watching tv or whatever. Then I just write the idea down and develop it in my head.
31. I really am at a loss for words when it comes to how much I appreciate this community and all the readers here who have been so welcoming and encouraging to me. Fanfiction really has saved me. And I cannot express my gratitude toward everyone here who have given me an outlet and an escape from the stress of my life! I love you all so much. 💕
35. There are rules for this?! 😬
37. HAAAAA!!! Omg could you imagine? People would be terrified about how horny and dark my brain is.
38. Uhhh I mean we all probably write similarly… right? I do find it weird I keep writing everything on my phone rather than using my computer. 😅
39. Uhh well I haven’t reached that point yet. I mean sure not all my stuff gets a lot of feedback but it doesn’t bother me cuz I already wrote it and I enjoyed the process. I guess I just like the feeling of getting these fantasies out of my head. And I actually enjoy being able to go back and read something I wrote and going “oh I like this” hahaha it’s a pleasant experience even if I find things I wish I could have written differently.

I just thought of this all of a sudden, (maybe because I saw a clip on youtube) but what if Either the Octo Trio or The King of the Coral Sea encounters Manaphy, the pokemon who is revered as the Prince of the Sea (what with the movie's and such, heck even Kyogre obeyed the little Babu) or if not Manaphy, what bout Phione?
Ooooh 👀 I liked the Manaphy movie when it came out ngl. It was a really cute movie.
I love the idea of a floating palace for Manaphy. It fits well with the theme of the sea never staying in one place.
The King of the Coral Sea notices this floating palace that's heavily protected for some reason and has the strange Pokemon creatures that he was introduced to by Soni.
Soni was invited by the King of the Coral Sea with a few others like the Octotrio and she was like "Wait, I think I've seen this place before in books-"
Out pops little Manaphy.
Manaphy spinning around: "Mana Mana!" Oh, a Blessed, it's been such a long, long time since I've met one! Hello!
Soni nods: "It's a pleasure to meet the Prince of the Sea."
Everyone else: "Wait, what-"
The Octotrio would be quite interested in the little Baby Prince being the Prince of the Sea, although I feel like Manaphy would lash out at them and switch them up using Heartswap to get to safety. Manaphy is particularly sensitive to emotions and the Pokemon can sense that the Octotrio is Bad Vibes.
Imagining Floyd and Jade swapping is basically Endless Halloween Night with Jade taking on a Floyd-like personality aksdkjlf ☠️☠️
Azul would try and control the two and they'd be mixed up because they wouldn't know at first; basically chaos for the Takoyaki boy 🐙
Just imagine Soni being swapped with someone else when Manaphy's trying to get to her because of being Blessed; I'll write out a post on what exactly a Blessed is once we get to it officially in the fic since that's spoilers, but yeah, Baby Manaphy wants cuddles and they want it now
For this, I'mma just roll a wheel.
...
I got Ace alskdfjlkajlkfa
Soni (inwardly Ace): "Wha- WHAT THE HELL?! Teacher's pet, what the hell is going on?! Why am I staring at myself?! Crap, why does my chest feel heavy-"
Ace (inwardly Soni) cuddling the Baby Manaphy and glaring so hard: "Don't you even think about saying another word, you dumbass, I swear to Arceus."
Deuce: "Ace, don't call Prefect a dumbass!"
Ace (inwardly Soni) sighs: "No, Deuce. Me and Ace switched bodies, so right now, I'm Soni."
Deuce: "???"
Soni (inwardly Ace) is just realizing the tiny height difference between Soni, Deuce, and his body and feels annoyed by it because damn, it kinda hurts his neck having to look up at the eel twins.
There's also a part of me that thinks that Soni (inwardly Ace) would just have a quiet revelation that Soni is very much the shortest of the group at the moment and has the most important jobs to handle (dealing with the expedition, handling the group members, etc.) with her abilities as a Pokemon Trainer, needing to be flexible and constantly thinking on her feet.
I'm also imagining Soni (inwardly Ace) just feeling the same things that Soni does with her forearm, which is oof for him. He complains about it and Soni tells him that it's normal unless it's burning up because that's a big bad news sign.
They're both relieved when the Heartswap ends and they go back to normal.
On a happier note, Happiny would just have a grand old time under the sea and have fun with Manaphy in the sand.
Happiny's just being carried by Floyd as they nyoom through the water and Deuce and Soni do their best to not lose sight of them alkfsjdfj
I feel bad that I don't have a name for the King of the Coral Sea ☠️ like I really should get to making names for them for asks like this
King of the Coral Sea is humbled by this small little one being a Prince and greets it like a royal, welcoming it into the palace. The King would tell the staff to prepare the guest's rooms while Manaphy just wants to play with everyone, very much acting like a child.
Manaphy stays with Soni the entire time, just content. Happiny does the same, and the babies just enjoy their time together.
If Prince Rielle is around (which I'm hoping to see him one day in the game), he'd be so intrigued by the humans, especially by Soni who's handling Manaphy and all the other Pokemon.
Seeing that, Azul would be like, "Ahaha, Monet-san is quite a nice person" and Soni just rolls her eyes at his fake flattery. I'm pretty sure this is Post Episode 3, so it's just hidden smirks (Azul), glaring (Soni), and overall tension between those two.
King of the Coral Sea would try and establish ties with Manaphy, but Manaphy prefers to live freely and explore things. After all, it rules all the seas and does as it pleases, never really sticking to one place.
I don't think that the King of the Coral Sea would think that's a problem seeing as the palace that Manaphy resides in literally moves in the waves and really highlights the free-spirited nature of the Pokemon. King of the Coral Seas seeing a tiny resemblance to Prince Rielle's own free-spirited nature in the Pokemon would make the little Pokemon a favorite.
Manaphy gets shown around the place and eventually sees an open field where the Pokemon just has fun.
Imagine if Soni and Azul get lost in a weird sea current, pulling them away and they have to work together to get back to the others.
Soni's with Mila or even Guppy who would love the space of the ocean. Azul's still self-conscious about his other form in the Coral Sea, so he's moving around in his human form. They're both riding Guppy because Guppy's huge and noticeable, but the good boy is very strong thus can travel distances more easily than regular merfolk.
Once they escape the current, they still need to travel back and thus keep moving.
Azul: "Can you please put that creature away?!"
Soni: "I thought you said that there were sea dragons around here?"
Azul: "Yes, but your dragon monster is certainly a little different from the norm around here!"
Soni: "They're the same thing though?"
Azul just grumbles: "Anything not fitting the norm is considered strange and rejected..."
Soni: "Well, isn't that great that I'm a human from an entirely different world where my concept of normal is completely different from yours. Of course, I'm gonna be weird compared to you!"
Yeah, it'd be chaos getting back.
I can see Soni getting sidetracked by Pokemon that surround her like in the Little Mermaid and Azul has to drag her away without pissing off Guppy in the process, which works relatively well.
Azul's trying not to get eaten alsfdjlklakj
There's also a part of me that wants the two of them to explore a ship or something and go on a mini-adventure, showing off their respective strengths: Azul with his knowledge and Soni with her exploration experience in ruins. They manage to get through quickly.
I can see one moment where they would need ink to write down the location of the place and see if there are more interesting parts around it later.
Soni: "I'm not carrying a pen with me right now, but I think Rotophone can still work underwater. I don't know if I can though is the problem-"
Azul pushes up his glasses: "I can provide the ink that we need."
Soni is just confused: "What do you mean?"
Azul raises an eyebrow: "I thought that you were the intelligent one of your friends." *gestures to himself* "I'm an Octomer, if you can recall."
Instantly, Soni grimaces: "Just so you know, I am not milking you."
Azul sputters at that: "I can simply produce it without you touching me!"
Soni just hums at that.
When the King of the Coral Seas finds an enormous Pokemon looking disoriented and confused in the form of a giant sea dragon, he goes off to see what's wrong with it.
It's vicious.
The Braincell Trio realizes it's a Gyarados, but they see that it's Wild because Guppy never attacks people since he's pretty docile unless something happens to Soni. They hope that's not the case and go to try and take the Pokemon out before it could cause major damage.
In comes Guppy who tackles the Wild Gyarados that gets angrier at the presence of another one of its kind. The two of them fight off in the water with Soni using more of her aquatic Pokemon to wear down the Gyarados until Manaphy commands the Wild Gyarados to calm down.
The Wild Gyarados calms down and goes off into the oceans, leaving the people relieved that things were alright in the end.
Soni's like, "Yeah, Wild Gyarados are really hard to tame, but Guppy here was raised as a Magikarp and is quite friendly as long as you don't try and pull something on me."
The guards knew earlier that messing with the human holding the little Pokemon Sea Prince was a bad idea, but seeing how Soni had a sea dragon that could become volatile should something happen to her, they know better than to tempt fate.
In the end, Guppy gets pets and Manaphy sits on his head without any problems. I can see little Merchildren just excited at Gyarados and Soni goes through a crash course of Gyarados for them, trying not to let her Casual Pokegraphic self ruin their fun.
Casual Geographic Soni: "It's actually rare to find them in the wild, so when you find them, be careful. They have enough rage in them to last a month's worth of devastation."
Merchild #1: "Wah, that's scary! I'd rather stay away from them if that was the case!"
Casual Geographic Soni: "That really depends on the care and environment that they're raised in, Skiddo. Wild Gyarados that aren't exposed to people are more dangerous due to their lack of contact with other lifeforms, but Gyarados that evolve from Magikarp with a loving trainer are more docile and friendly. They still retain a sense of protectiveness over their Trainer, so as long as you respect the trainer, you're alright."
Merchild #2: "What makes them so angry in the first place?"
Casual Geographic Soni: "When they transform or Evolve, their brains get affected by it. For Wild Gyarados, they're usually responding to fear from larger predators, so they lash out and grow larger to scare away that predator. However, that lashing out combined with Evolution makes them more destructive and angry as a result."
Merchild #1: "Eh... so they're super angry all the time because they were scared? Because they don't know any better?"
Casual Geographic Soni: "Not always, but it's very likely in the ocean for competition and such."
The whole trip ends with Manaphy leaving in peace with connections to the merfolk in the Coral Sea and the others exploring the culture of the Coral Sea without the panic of a three-day deadline.
Just some shenanigans would be:
Soni seeing Prism Scales and being able to take them without having to pay for a single one of them. Possibly Water Stones are sold as jewelry pieces since they're super common because y'know, it's underwater and magical land?
Soni sees Clamperls and tells the others to watch out because Huntail and Gorebyss could be nearby.
Huntail is obviously menacing, but Gorebyss doesn't look scary until they see it hunt after another Pokemon.
Floyd is warned to not go near Clamperl and does so anyway; gets clamped on by the Pokemon on his head and it's only after Soni asks it to let go that it does so, especially with Guppy just hovering behind her.
Floyd: "Shrimpy, I wanna squeeze it now."
Soni: "We just saved you from that experience."
Chaos under the sea 🌊🐟
One of the things that I remember about Phione is that one anime episode with one getting a crush on Buneary and that's it alksdfkjla ☠️

Oof, which scenes of yours stick to mind. Bakugo getting his memories back and having a breakdown after he's set free; Deku's son talking to Inko and her sadly confirming Deku barely even visits her anymore; All Might gently chastising Deku for immediately wanting to give AfO to his (he thinks) now-quirkless son; the girl from the Candy Hair Saga piledriving the MC and accidentally restoring his memories causing him to reach out to her again; the seamstress seeing tiny child Edward for the 1/2
2/2 first time; the superheroine realizing the person who's mentoring her is setting up a bike theft and the boy who swallows fire buried on a burning building; Momo the skeleton with a giant plate of food she'll never finish. I have a visual memory so I'm cheating a bit, but your writing has a way of painting horrible pictures that sear the mind's-eye. Great work. I'd put a thumbs-up emoji here if I were on mobile
(fanfic ask meme)
man oh man oh man alright
Bakugo getting his memories back and having a breakdown after he's set free
(King)
tbh King might be my favorite of my bnha fanfictions. it's one of those fics where the implications kept building while I was writing it.
Also! In the earliest draft of King, Bakugou kind of just remembers everything from the start and the audience is walked through the flashback while he's sitting at the police station in the first scene. As I tinkered more with the fic, I realized it was more interesting to keep that part vague at first, let Bakugou's memories be partially repressed by the trauma, and then written-over as the lawyers grill into him the Right Version Of Events.
And that I could then fill the audience in properly at the exact moment Bakugou learns he's been let off the hook
Deku's son talking to Inko and her sadly confirming Deku barely even visits her anymore; All Might gently chastising Deku for immediately wanting to give AfO to his (he thinks) now-quirkless son
(Origin of a Non-Hero)
(I'm still really glad when people bring up OoaNH because that was the first substantial thing I wrote after a very long distancing myself from writing and I kinda thought it was a complete mess when posting it.)
When I was figuring out what to do with this story, I was struggling with the ending. For a while I thought the last scene would be a confrontation between Shiki and Deku. I even tried drafting that. But I couldn't come up with anything satisfying. To have Deku apologize and make up with Shiki as an ending didn't make sense, since the fic established how one-time "I'm sorry"s don't fix the issues being explored. But to have Shiki reject the apology? Anything I came up with felt too bitter to end on...
So I realized the way I wanted to end the piece didn't have any actual confrontation between Deku and Shiki at all. Instead I broke it up. Have Shiki and Inko together, with Shiki asking if he's in the wrong for wishing he could have just had normal parents who were proud of him, to Inko who would understand this more than anyone. And have Deku and All Might together, with Deku asking if he'd failed his son, to All Might would who understand this better than anyone.
the girl from the Candy Hair Saga piledriving the MC and accidentally restoring his memories causing him to reach out to her again
(Candy Hair Saga)
THAT was so fun! For a couple reasons! When I first made the post I was kind of just messing around and the "villain" who was targeting the background-characters-turned-main-character could be anyone. The moment I realized the exact way to tie everything together, with the reveal of the villain, I was like hopping out of my chair.
AND it was extra fun because the whole thing is a joking exploration of cliches and tropes, so for the memories and flashbacks? I just went full ham with the cheesiest, tropiest, backstoriest execution of that and it's frankly REALLY fun to indulge in that without worrying "am i being cliche? am i being unoriginal?" this was just like doesnt matter babey, we're TRYING to be a cliche.
the seamstress seeing tiny child Edward for the first time;
(See Them Buried)
(I'm still delightfully surprised with how much attention See Them Buried has gotten. I was expecting very little at all for an OC-centric fic.)
I think I'd been thinking about how all the "youre the fullmetal alchemist but youre so small" remarks might NOT have just been short-jabs and very well might have been people from an outside perspective seeing Ed and being like "this is a CHILD. why is he a soldier?" and anyway I have feelings about that.
the superheroine realizing the person who's mentoring her is setting up a bike theft and the boy who swallows fire buried on a burning building;
(Hero Syndrome)
Back on my brand of "wouldnt it be fucked up if" bnha fics. So the fire boy's story was actually the first one of the three I came up with. Just thinking about how the BNHA world's hero worship almost definitely encourages reckless acts of heroism, and what happens when that goes wrong, and what happens if those acts were inspired by a big-name hero? (which led to me coining the plot twist that's revealed at the end)
Then I got to thinking about the other messages Deku receives in canon, which work out great for him, but could easily go south for people not as lucky. and well what happens to society if those get mass projected...
Momo the skeleton with a giant plate of food she'll never finish.
(Branding the Hero)
The funny thing about Branding the Hero is it was kind of a passive-aggressive response to the whole "Momo's costume has to be that way because of her quirk!" argument. Like, "yeah? yeah is that so? we REALLY care about 'the way her quirk works'? we REALLY are just concerned with 'making sure her quirk works to the best of its ability'? let's fucking talk about that then"
And then the implications just got worse the deeper I dug.

Say Something to Stop Me: Chapter Two
Writing Master List | Say Something to Stop Me Master List
Please note: This fic describes depression, anxiety, panic attacks, past/referenced non con and domestic violence. Please read at your own discretion.
________________________
You wake to a slight pounding in your skull right between your eyes and an extremely dry mouth. You groan and flop onto your back, squinting at the bright light streaming through the window. Rolling to glance at the clock on your nightstand you discover that it is 6:30 in the morning. It makes sense, you estimate you fell asleep somewhere around 7:30 last night.
You suddenly shoot straight up in bed, your heart pounding. Oh my god. Bucky. He carried you here last night. You’re still wearing your jeans and t-shirt from the night before. There’s a glass of water and two small white pills on your nightstand and your shoes are laying right next to the bed. He must have put you to bed. You don’t remember anything after he picked you up.
You flop back against the pillows and stare at the ceiling above your bed, watching the early morning light flicker. A small smile fights its way to your lips. You couldn’t stop the growing grin if you tried. Bucky. James Buchanan Barnes himself carried you to bed last night and for some reason your heart is leaping around in your chest. You can almost feel it bouncing around in your rib cage. What the hell is wrong with you?
You put both hands over your face and let yourself giggle for a moment. You feel like a teenager who just spoke to her crush for the first time. Your fingers are a little tingly and you feel like there are butterflies making a nest in your abdomen. After a few moments of this you suddenly decide you have to get your shit together and go thank him.
Swinging your legs over the edge of the bed and standing up proved to be more painful to your brain than you expected. You had to promptly sit back down on your mattress as your head spun and your vision began to tunnel. You hated hangovers. They made you feel so dizzy and weak. You attempted standing again, slower this time, and took a second to orient yourself to your now vertical stance.
You were… giddy. It felt strange to be fully present in your body and feeling something beyond apathy, but it was also the most relieving feeling. You gave another small smile to yourself. You felt more like yourself than you had in months. Immediately upon realizing that, you heard a voice in your head start whispering things to you.
Don’t spend any time being happy. You’re an embarrassment. If he knew who you really are lately he wouldn’t waste any time on you.
Oof. Just like that all the wind left your sails. You could feel your shoulders curve instinctively. The voice in your head was technically right. Bucky would be so embarrassed and disappointed in you. He’d never look at you the same. None of them would. They respect you for your strength and resilience, and if they knew what happened they wouldn’t see you as strong anymore. You’re not the person who you thought you were. Everything about your personality that you loved had shattered into pieces about seven months ago and you didn’t even know what to do about it.
You squeezed your eyes shut and shook your head. There had been a moment just now. A brief wonderful moment that you saw clarity. That you felt like the person you used to be. It had been months in a row of feeling like your head was stuck under water. The world felt blurry, the sounds around you were muffled. You felt like your lungs weren’t really getting the oxygen you needed. But for a moment this morning, with the sunrise reflecting off the metal beams of the ceiling, your head had crested the surface. You had taken a huge breath of air and felt the sun on your skin for the first time in such a long time.
How did it slip from you so quickly? You were sinking under again, but instead of the drifting feeling you’d had, it suddenly felt like every muscle in your body was kicking toward the surface. You didn’t want to drown anymore. You wanted to feel the sun on your hair and the breeze across the back of your neck. You wanted to run and run and run and actually feel the oxygen in your lungs.
It suddenly felt very dire that you move. That you didn’t stand here with your eyes closed in limbo. You had to move, go somewhere, do something, talk to someone or you’d fall deeper. You shoved your feet into your sneakers and stumbled out the door with no real direction in mind.
I suppose I could just go thank Bucky. That’s a good starting point.
You whip your feet to the right and head farther down the hall toward Bucky’s room. Once you approach his door and knock you have a moment of silence to organize your swirling thoughts.
What are you going to say to him? Thank you I guess. Oh god you were still in your clothes from last night and you’re positive that your breath is probably so rank it would kill flies. You swallow hard and take a reflexive step back from the door. If you’re farther away, he might not be able to smell you. You try to take a surreptitious sniff of your armpit and you actually don’t smell quite as bad as you expected, but you still don’t exactly smell as fresh as a daisy.
Your head is spinning, but he’s not coming to the door. It’s at this moment that you realize that it is in fact only 6:30 in the morning and it’s entirely possible that everyone stayed up much later than 7:00 last night and could still be sleeping. You slap a hand to your forehead. God you’re so spacey lately.
You whip around to head back to your room when Friday speaks into the hallway above you.
“Agent Barnes is not home, Y/N. Agents Barnes, Wilson and Parker left around 6:00 this morning on a short reconnaissance mission. They should be home this evening. Bucky did peek his head in your door this morning before they left. You woke shortly after.”
Ah. Okay then. So the two people you were thinking of trying to talk to this morning are gone. In fact, the person who probably would have been third on the list of doors to knock on is gone too. Shit. You still felt restless, like if you didn’t keep treading water you’d drown. Absentmindedly bouncing on the balls of your feet you chewed on a thumb nail. Friday spoke again.
“Natasha is downstairs in the kitchen making coffee. Just so you know.”
You look up at the ceiling. How did Friday know you needed to talk to someone? Was Tony watching and wanted you to talk to Nat? Did Nat ask Friday to tell you? Did you care?
“Thanks Friday.” You say to the ceiling. You spin and begin your walk to the elevators.
“Anytime.”
~0~
Nat was indeed making coffee in the kitchen. She looked up when you stepped in and smiled.
“Morning Y/N. How’s that head?”
You chuckled at that and shook your head, wincing a little as your brain sloshed around in your head. “It’s… a little painful I won’t lie.”
“Sit. Coffee, water, tylenol and a really messy egg sandwich will help.”
“Thank you, Nat.”
She turned and started the coffee machine before walking to the fridge to grab you a glass of water. You leaned over the counter and placed your forehead in your hands. Suddenly two tiny little pills and a glass of water were pushed into your field of vision. You lifted your head and saw Nat walking over to the stove with some butter, eggs, cheese and bread in hand.
“Thanks.” You swallow both pills and then spend the next few minutes just slowly trying to get as much water down as you can. When your glass is empty you stand up to refill when suddenly an egg sandwich is set down in front of you.
“Sit and eat. I’ll refill for you. Milk in your coffee?”
“Just a splash. Thank you, again.”
Nat smiles. “You’re welcome.” She returns with your coffee and fresh water in hand. As you dig into your sandwich she leans her back against the kitchen island across from you.
“So. It sounds like James had to carry your ass to bed last night. What’s up with that?” Nat tosses casually over her shoulder. There’s something in her voice that you can’t quite pick up on. There’s a subtext you’re missing.
“Um. I was drunk. On accident. I think I was just dehydrated and didn’t eat dinner. I almost fell on my ass so he uh… carried me.” You keep your eyes on your egg sandwich, your cheeks felt like they were on fire with your blush.
“Hm. I don’t remember you being such a lightweight. If I remember correctly, when we were in Vienna you nearly drank Thor under the table.” Nat quips.
You huff a laugh. You nearly had. God you missed that big hulking brute. You really hoped things were okay in Asgard. “Yeah… I just am out of practice I guess.” you say through a mouthful of eggs.
“I suppose that’s not the worst thing to be out of practice with.” Nat says, turning toward you fully this time. She’s looking at you like she asked you a question even though she definitely did not.
“I suppose” you mutter back. You hadn’t felt anxious since walking in the kitchen, but now theres a small seed of panic in your gut. You shift a little in your seat, shoving the last bite of egg sandwich in your mouth. She’s giving you her Black Widow interrogation stare and you don’t like it.
She breaks the silence. “You’re kinda also out of the ‘talking to your family’ practice.” The last bite of egg sandwich gets lodged in your esophagus. You choke and start hacking a cough as you try to force the suddenly very dry bits of bread down your throat. Nat just leans her elbows on the counter and lifts one eyebrow at you. “What’s up with that?”
“Oh. Um.” You’re sputtering as you try to get air back down your throat. “Uh. It’s nothing personal. Just kinda… don’t feel like talking.”
“Hmmm.” Nat hums as she leans back. She slaps her palms against the countertop. “Well, you better muster up the strength because Tony has a therapist scheduled to start coming here every other week. No ifs, ands or buts. You’re going to spend an hour every two weeks with her whether you ‘feel like it’ or not. Got it?” She turns to go.
“Yes ma’am.” You mutter.
“I thought I told you never to call me that again.” Nat tosses over her shoulder as she picks up her coffee and starts to exit the kitchen.
“It’s a reflex, Nat. It’s hard not to when someone talks to me like a commanding officer.”
She pushes her hips against the door to open it and rolls her eyes at you. “Whatever. She’ll be here at three tomorrow. You can meet her in the conference room. If you’d rather not be around with prying eyes it sounds like it’s gonna be sunny tomorrow. Maybe you could sit by the lake.” With that she leaves.
“Okay.” You say out loud to the empty room.
~0~
Even though your moment with Nat was brief this morning, and rather scathing, you still feel better than you did standing in the middle of your room this morning. You’re not quite on dry land, but you feel your nose and mouth are at least above water and you’re breathing more deeply.
You spend sometime in the gym. You go back to boxing and lifting some weights. You figure that part of Tony’s forced therapy is that he cares about you, and also probably that they need you back on the field. It’s rare that they send Peter on recon missions as they don’t like to pull him out of school if they can help it, so Steve and Tony must be a little short handed at the moment. You should probably start getting back into field shape. Although, with how much running you’ve been doing you could probably hold your own out there.
After working out and showering you decide to wander around the outside of the complex. Nat was right, the weather is pretty pleasant right now so you might as well get some fresh air.
You think about your impending date with a therapist tomorrow. You feel a small twinge of shame twist in your chest when you think of it. Steve and Tony are so busy all the time, and yet you let your own stupid emotions and inability to cope make them worried. They had to take care of you, again. It’s exactly the kind of self hatred spiral that you’d been sucked into lately.
This was all just so unlike you. It was so antithetical to everything that you held as your core personality traits. The reason that Tony and Steve had hand picked you to be the one that got the final dose of super serum they had uncovered is because you were resilient. Time and time again, mission after mission you had kept a cool head. Rolled with the punches. You’d been knocked down, beaten, stabbed and shot and still stood back up and jumped back into the next mission they’d offer. Sometimes even begging to be sent out before you got your medical clearance.
You’d gotten along with the team instantly. Even back when you were just a basic agent running their com links. You’d been trying to coordinate a million different channels and Sam had made some sarcastic comment about how the new kid was causing interference on the channels. You’d been trying to juggle so many things at once that you hadn’t even registered that you had snapped back that if he could just be smart enough to block his head while fighting and keep his com from being bashed around, your job wouldn’t be so hard.
There had been a moment of silence on the other end of the line and then all at once 4 different com links lit up as laughter spilled into your ear piece. You’d heard Nat ribbing Sam for always forgetting to block his ears and Steve cackling that “the kid just really got you.” Tony was chuckling quietly and Sam was saying “Fair. Fair.” You couldn’t keep the smile off your face.
That was who you were. Managing what felt like a thousand com links, and still making jokes. You were cracking up with Sam on the battlefield. Helping Nat try to set Steve up on dates while you were doing recon. Laughing while you and Bucky beat each other up on the sparring mats.
You didn’t know the person you had become this year. Laying on the floor of your living room for hours on end? Not answering the door when Peter came over after school? Not taking a single mission for nearly 9 months? It just started one day and then just snowballed and snowballed. The more you laid around, the more you just hated yourself for not being able to get back up.
I mean c’mon . You’d been shot once busting up an arms deal in Sudan and all you did was laugh before hopping back up and clobbering the guy over the head with a loose cement block. Bucky had panicked and run your way when he saw you get hit, insisting he medivac you out. You had just winced and put a hand over the hole in your shoulder and said “and miss all the action? No chance.”
It baffled you that you couldn’t pull it together now.
Maybe the therapist would be good. As much as you hated to admit it, you clearly needed help.
A rumble in the distance alerted you that the quinjet had arrived home. You wandered across the grass to the landing pad to say hi to your friends. You could thank Bucky for last night and maybe ask Peter to watch a movie tonight. Or you could help him with his homework, not that the kid needed it. Just something. You suddenly really didn’t want to be alone.
As you rounded the corner of the building and caught sight of everyone, you realized that everyone was running around a little too frantically for your comfort level. You heard Sam yell “Someone get him to the med wing.”
“On it!” That was Steve.
Your heart froze in your chest and you paused mid step. You felt very torn between running toward the jet, and running clear in the other direction. You weren’t sure if you could handle whatever it was that was happening. It was then that you saw Bucky walking down the ramp of the jet with a red suited body cradled in his arms.
Your heart restarted with a vengeance and your feet moved on their own. Sprinting toward the jet. A choked “Peter!” ripped from your lungs.
As you stepped up on the landing pad Sam caught you around the waist and pulled you back. “He’s fine Y/N. He’s gonna be fine. Just needs some stitches and a concussion check.”
You were panting hard as you stood up on your tiptoes to peek over Sam’s shoulder in time to see Bucky pass Peter to Steve. You placed both palms on Sam’s chest and pushed with all your strength to get him out of your way. It was unfair, you used all your super strength against him. His breath wooshed from his chest as he skidded a few feet back. You started your dash towards Peter again before two arms, one warm and one cold, wrapped around your waist and dragged you backward.
“Stop. Stop sweetheart. Give him space. He’s just dazed.” Bucky grunted as you slammed into his chest. His lips brushed the shell of your ear as he dragged you backwards away from the retreating form of Steve. Your hands scrambled for purchase over his arms. Pushing with all your strength against the metal and flesh wrapped around your middle. He, unlike Sam, did not budge.
This was your fault. You couldn’t get your shit together and Peter had to go on a mission for you and he got hurt. It was your own damn fault.
“Breathe. Please breathe for me. C’mon baby breathe.” Bucky was lowering you down to your knees now. You were suddenly aware of the concrete of the landing pad beneath your knees. Your breaths were ragged and choked. You felt like you were breathing through a straw. “Whoa whoa whoa sweetheart. You have to breathe for me.”
Bucky was on his knees now in front of you. He had pushed back a bit so he could look into your face, but his arms were still wrapped tightly around you. You could feel the rise and fall of his chest as he tried to get you to match the pace of his breathing. You couldn’t tear your eyes off the door that Steve had just walked through.
“I can’t” you choked out. “Peter.” It felt like your throat was closing up. Where was the oxygen in the world?
“He’s fine. I promise. He got a little distracted and someone bashed him over the head with a two-by-four. He probably needs like 2 stitches in his eyebrow. He was also a little panicked and dazed, that’s why I was carrying him. It’s fine.” Your eyes flicked to Bucky. He was scanning your face now. He looked absolutely petrified.
“You’re lying. You’re lying to me right now. I have to get to him.” You tried to stand up. To push him away. Bucky and his damn bionic arm didn’t move.
Bucky wraps his arms tighter around you and pulls you back down. You’re basically smashed against his chest now. He lets out a frantic humorless laugh “I am not lying to you. I’m terrified because you’re hyperventilating and I need you to breathe. Now.”
All at once your muscles go slack and tense at the same time. You stop fighting Bucky as it registers just how low on oxygen you are. Your heart is pounding nearly out of your chest and your throat keeps getting smaller. “I-can’t” you choke. Your chest spasms a bit as your abdominal muscles clench. You feel tears burning behind your eyes. Over Bucky’s shoulder Sam looks on with an equally panicked look on his face. He has one foot pointing away from you like he’s wondering if he should go get someone but doesn’t want to leave in case you need him.
“Yes you can. I know you can. Just match me, okay?” Bucky murmurs in your ear. His flesh hand is running smooth lines down your spine and he’s rocking your body very slowly back and forth. He takes a very deep breath and you splutter and choke as you try to force your lungs to match his pace. “That’s my girl. C’mon keep following my chest.”
Your body collapses fully against Bucky now. You bury your face in the crook of his neck and hiccup as you try to force your lungs into breathing cyclically in time with him.
The burn behind your eyes increases and you feel yourself slipping backwards. You’re falling deeper into the water the way you were this morning. Falling away from the sun and the breeze.
“I’m drowning. I’m drowning, Bucky. Oh god.” You pant.
Bucky whipped back to look you in the eyes “What?” he breathed. He was scanning your whole face and body, like he was looking for the source of water in your lungs. He didn’t know you meant it figuratively.
“I don’t know what’s happening to me Bucky. I’m so scared.” You whispered. You could barely keep your eyes open. Seeing the pain on his face, the look of pure terrified confusion on Sam’s face was so painful.
Bucky brought his metal hand up to cup your cheek. “It’s okay. It’s okay Doll. I’ve got you. Sam’s here. It’s okay.”
You buried your face into his neck again. You couldn’t look at him. You couldn’t explain. With your head buried, you missed Bucky throw a questioning look over his shoulder at Sam. You missed Sam shrugging his shoulders. Both of your friends, at a loss of how to help you. All they knew to do at the moment was make sure you were breathing.
The tears finally came. Big, hot, wet tears pouring from your eyes. Your body shaking with the force of them finally escaping after months of holding them in. You were incoherent. Babbling now as you just tried to rid your body of this demon of pain that seized every muscle. “Oh my god Bucky. I just… I let him do this to me. I… I’m such an idiot. I just… oh god” you were practically seizing in his arms now, he was holding tight to you like he was trying to keep pieces of you from cracking off.
“What?” He choked out.
“Him!” You wailed. “I let him hurt me. I let him destroy who I am and I don’t even know why.”
Bucky was running a hand through your hair now. Softly whispering “Shhh it’s okay. It’s okay” into your neck. Sam had moved closer and placed a hand on your shin in quiet support. He had his head bowed and was looking at the concrete. You stayed in your tableau for a long time. Like a renaissance painting frozen in time. Slowly your heart beat went back to a steady rhythm and your breathing evened out.
Eventually, you sniffled and leaned back to look at Bucky. You were sure your hair was a mess, your face was splotchy and you probably had snot and tears running down your whole face. In fact, you probably got snot all over him. You really hoped it didn’t mess up anything in his arm.
Bucky looked at you quietly. He seemed to be waiting for you to speak, offering you a life preserver in a sea of uncertain emotions. Your voice was raspy when you finally spoke “I want to see Peter.”
Bucky just nodded and picked you up to set you on your feet. He backed away with his hands still on your hips, like he was worried you couldn’t stand on your own. “I’m okay.” you mumbled as you tried to smooth out your hair and use the sleeve of your t-shirt to wipe up your face. “I can stand. I’m okay.”
You turned and started walking back into the compound, the two of them flanking you as you began the trek to the med wing.
~0~
Upon arriving in the medical wing you snagged a tissue from a nearby box and tried to wipe up the rest of your face. You glanced at your reflection in one of the nearby glass panels and winced at how puffy and blotchy your face was. You tried to rub your face to even out the tone of your skin, but there was nothing you could do about how puffy your eyes were.
After walking farther down the hall you spotted Peter. Sitting up on a table where Dr. Cho was shining a light in both of his eyes. As you stepped into the room you just heard her say “A slight concussion. You should be cleared for activity in a week or so.” Before turning to put away all of her instruments.
“Hi.” You squeaked out. When Peter turned his eyes in your direction you nearly burst into tears again. He had brightened and smiled at the sound of your voice, but when his eyes hit your face his smile fell.
“Are you okay?” He asked. Sliding off the table to walk over to you. You glanced behind you and saw Bucky and Sam hovering just outside the door of the room. They were very obviously trying to watch you without looking like they were watching you.
“I think that’s my line.” You chuckle as Peter wraps you in a hug. Over your shoulder, Peter shoots a questioning look at Sam and Bucky.
Sam speaks up. “Someone got a little freaked when you got carried off the jet.”
Peter pulls back to look at you again. “Oh god Y/N. I’m okay. I promise. I just got a little overwhelmed when I realized I had let my guard down and panicked, and then I got dazed when I got whacked on my head. I’m okay.” When Peter notices the water fill up in your eyes he pulls you back in. “Oh please don’t cry. I’m fine. Just four stitches is all.”
“Bucky said you were only gonna need two.” You grumbled into his chest. Peter snorted. In the hall Bucky humphed.
“Four is not that far off, okay? I was close.”
Peter was rubbing his hands up and down your arms and laughing softly. “You know I think I’m supposed to be the one comforting you,” you noted, “this is sort of backwards.” Then all three of them were chuckling. You pulled back from Peter to look at him. “I’m sorry for being a baby, you just scared me.”
“ I scared you?” Peter questioned “I think normally it’s you who shows up here all bloody and unconscious scaring the hell out of me, so I guess it was my turn.”
You chuckled a bit and grinned at Peter. His eyes lit up when he caught the upward tilt of your lips and he hauled you back against his chest. “I missed you, Y/N.” Peter said quietly.
“I’m right here, Peter.”
“Yeah, you are.” Peter sighed. Then he pulled back to look at you again. “Movie night? Maybe in the common room so everyone can watch? We haven’t finished the Fast the Furious movies yet.”
“Oh god I’m not watching if you’re past the third one.” Sam groaned from the hall. “They just went downhill after that.”
“Good news for you then birdman, we’re on Tokyo Drift.” Peter called out as he wrapped his arm around your shoulders to walk you out of the room.
“Who you calling birdman, spider punk?” Sam shot back.
You snorted. All three of them whipped their heads to look at you. “What?” you asked indignantly, “It was funny!”
Bucky reached out and mussed your hair. “There she is.”
You pushed back against his arm. “Oh shut up, Terminator.”
Sam buckled over and held his stomach as he cackled, Peter’s chest shook next to you.
“What’s a terminator?” Bucky asked, making Peter and Sam laugh harder. Peter had to lift his arm off of your shoulder to put his hands on his knees.
You patted Buck on his metal shoulder. “I’ll tell you when you’re even older, you dinosaur.”
Sam and Peter stumbled forward down the hallway together, wheezing through their laughter. Their arms placed on each other's shoulders, quoting the terminator and wiping tears from their eyes.
You and Bucky followed behind them on your way to the common space. When Peter and Sam were far enough out of ear-shot Bucky spoke.
“You okay?”
You glanced over at him. He had his eyes on the two men stumbling down the hall together ahead of you. He was trying for nonchalance, but you could tell he was still on edge.
“Yeah, Buck. I am. I will be.”
He turned to look at you then. His lips curled up into the smallest of smiles, but it was enough to get you to return one. He threw his arm over your shoulder and dragged your head into his shoulder as you kept walking. “Yeah you will.”
And he was right. You would be. Not all at once. Not right away. But you would be. The sounds of your two friends laughing up the hall was proof.

Note
okay, i have listened to the playlist in full and here are my thoughts (please forgive my rambling; i had so much fun with this and it allowed me to procrastinate the next chapter so truly thank you ❤️):
“go fuck yourself”: as i listened, i tried to categorize them into either din/reader/or reader&din songs and this one felt very din&reader. just this tandem slog through life beside one another without really being together (yet).
“fresh blood”: oh a din song, absolutely. the line “i know you’re probably gettin’ ready for bed” made me think of gorgu too 😩
“help i’m alive”: shit that’s the reader in a nutshell omg. “hard to be tough/tough to be tender” OOF
“i come with knives”: BITCH THE VIBES OF THIS SONG. right off the bat. damn! idk wtf they’re saying in the german section, but i’m fucking here fOR IT!!!!
“angel of small death…”: i am obsessed with the idea of the reader somehow being seen as this tiny, magnificent force. like so much bigger than herself even though she doesn’t realize it quite yet.
“sour times”: ooh, this song. gosh, where to start? it has such a dangerous thread to it. it makes me think of them tiptoeing around one another in this eggshell sort of dance, not knowing who will break first. cHilLS
“broken boy solider”: someone give DIN DJARIN A HUG. this is his inner theme song on a constant loop.
“if you run”: wow—such a change of pace, but i love it. i think NH has such a grungy, metal feel to it (idk what i’m talking about) but also some folksy whimsy and this song fits that perfectly in my head. also: “fading into each other’s arms/he took her down to his hiding place” i don’t think that’s supposed to be romantic, but i’m pretending it is. sue me.
“give up the ghost”: this song makes me kinda emo. a din&reader to be sure. them both just wanting to be loved by each other, too afraid to ask. FUCK.
“black flies”: yES another folksy! the refrain at the end really gets me good. right in the heart.
“gasoline”: aw hell yeah. another reader BOP. she’s got such a bitchy vibe; i love it.
“dark”: shit… “I am the dark one in my bloodline/I fear my shadow like a beast/It's a lingering mellow that won't leave me/I fear one day it'll swallow me whole” is this…. her backstory in a nutshell? idk, you tell me.
“fuel to the fire”: this gives me reader addressing din vibes. like a pained loved letter to him.
“biting down”: to be frank, i don’t know what the fuck this song is talking about. but somehow, in relation to nighthawks, i get it.
“no one knows”: DIN. A DIN SONG. BECAUSE HE’S LIKE A BLANK BILLBOARD, IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE, IMPOSSIBLE TO READ. LOVE IT.
“virgin”: the chorus of this song… damn. i don’t know how to describe what it makes me imagine. them, together, still unsure of their future, just… trying?
“bully”: the line “bet you never though that I could be the one to let you down” makes me think of this as another song addressing din. woof.
“toxic”: britney, is that you? almost, but this version is better.
“master’s hands”: i feel like i’m ascribing every song to the reader and not enough to din….. but….. i just love her.
“hearing damage”: ooh! this is an interesting one! “You wish you felt better/In my eyes” feels quite din to me?
“howling”: oh fuuuuuuuuck they’re gonna be so in love one day and this is gonna be IT for them. “You were plush and I laid bare” DAMMIT
“troubled waters”/“patron saint hunter”: i just love the folksy vibe nighthawks can have at the same time as the metal/headbangers. i’m so glad that comes through the fic and i’m not the only one who felt that way.
“easy”: again, lorde with these confusing bangers that somehow just…. are chef’s kiss and fit perfectly to the mood of the fic. at least in my head!
“third eye”: this again feels like a song for the future of the fic, as things begin to unfold for them and they become more comfortable with one another.
“howl”: this definitely feels like a din&reader song! makes me wanna shimmy my shoulders hehe
“clockwork”: how do you find these songs that just fit them both so perfectly? there’s lines that could go for one or the other or for both and just… YOUR BRAIN
i cannot thank you enough for the gift of this playlist. it means more than you know. ❤️
Oh my god. OH MY GOD YOU WENT THROUGH EACH ONE??
Tumblr media
Whew. Okay.
I am so glad you like this!! Music is how I process things, and it's like the only thing I contribute to fandom. My spotify looks like a crazy person's. Seriously.
I just gahhhhh!! Thank you for taking them time to write all this out. And I have some other Thoughts ✨
1. go fuck yourself: sexy vibes, but like, you hate this person. big vibes for current nighthawks.
2. fresh blood: again, sexy vibes but the line "beautiful woman get out of my head" just reminds me of Din thinking about Reader in the last chapter.
3. help i'm alive: I mean, that's just Reader. But also Din. I feel like they are such good parallels of each other.
4. I come with knives: again, just Reader. I love her, your honor.
5. Angel of small death: reader is a pint sized power house and it breaks Din's brain. That is all.
6. Sour times: I feel like even though they don't get each other yet, Din and Reader are so similar. "Nobody loves me it's true, not like you do"
7. Broken boy soldier: so I was actially thinking of Reader for this, but it totally fits for Din too now that I'm thinking about it. But just the line "I'm throwing the childhood things away" reminds me of Reader and Jeelia.
8. If you run: "if you run, you better have a place to go" that is all.
9. Give up the ghost: they both have so much baggage to work through, it thought it was a good song.
10. Black flies: "I don't want to beg your pardon, I don't want to ask you why, if I was to go my own way, would I have to pass you by"
11. Gasoline: just. Sex with no feelings vibes. (For now 👀)
12. dark: hit the nail on the head. Just tons of past Reader thoughts.
13. Fuel to fire: I mean, that's just their relationship in a title so far.
14. Biting down: this whole song is a drug reference, but the vibe reminds me of just bracing yourself through the pain because it's all you know and it's better than the alternative
15. No one knows: "oh what you do to me, no one knows" fun fact - I like this version better than the original (QOTSA fans, don't come at me)
16. Virgin: this entire song is about how you can devote your life to something (creed/son, or family/sister) and it can still be taken away in an instant
17. Bully: "I like it when you play too rough, so tell me when you've had enough"
18. Toxic: I mean...the ultimate dark sexy vibes
19. Master's Hands: "Pull my strings and cut my rope, rattle my frame and shatter my ghost" works with Din teaching her hunting and also works for sexy times 😏
20. hearing damage: "a tear in my brain allows the voices in" and "they say you're getting better, but you don't feel any better"
21. howling: "Cold I fell into your skin on the night you let me under your sin. You had me howling"
22. troubled waters: big reader and her past vibes. "I must be one of the devil's daughters"
23. patron saint hunter: "keep the family in, keep the family sin" and "evil isn't in your core"...i just love Reader okay
24. Easy: "easy, pull out your heart to make the being alone easy" they're just two lonely people with so much baggage, don't look at me
25. Third eye: "don't make a shadow of yourself, always shutting out the light" and "Cause there's a hole where your heart lies, I see it with my third eye."
26. Howl: "you are the moon that breaks the night for which I have to howl"
27. Clockwork: one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. "Just like clockwork I react. You wind me up until I crack."
Aaaaaanywayyyy I'm just so happy you like it and I absolutely cannot wait for whatever you write next ✨

Quick Behind The Scenes/Sneak Peak For Next Story!
     I’m not dead, don’t worry!
Yeah, so I realized I haven’t posted in a while, so I thought I’d give a little status update. Yes, I’m doing fine, haven’t been having too many major issues with school recently, so I think I’ll adjust just fine. (Also, I found out I have a four day weekend after this week, so hooray!)
Anyways, yes, I’m just fine, and I am still writing. Like I said before though, I have a lot  of other writing projects than just the ones for here, and since my writing schedule is basically: “Get at least one ‘major’ work finished per week”, that gets to be an issue when it comes to consistent uploads, but yes, I have more stories on the docket. (I’m planning on releasing one this Friday, in fact. Wink Wink.)
But enough with the life story stuff, here’s some behind the scenes stuff. Some of y’all may notice the stories I’ve uploaded so far kind of have a narrative consistency to them. That wasn’t actually originally intended at all. The stories were just supposed to be isolated one-offs, but as I thought about it more, and just how many ideas for individual stories I had, I realized that I had the opportunity to string them all together under a cohesive storyline, so I began planning for that instead.
There’s actually a timeline inconsistency in the second story, the one with Steve, that I wasn't able to catch before it got uploaded. The first one with Captain actually takes place after the Steve one in the timeline, so the fact that Steve seems to know what the Captain did to the protagonist in his story makes no sense. It’s fixed now on the main google doc, but not on the Tumblr version because I don’t know how to edit Tumblr posts. (R.I.P.)
As the story began to develop more, I realized that, from a narrative perspective, It would be best to declare the very first of these stories I ever wrote non-canon. Yeah, the one with Captain wasn’t the first one I ever wrote. Unsure of when I’ll release the non-canon one, but we’ll see as time goes on.
Another thing I had to take into consideration was the second person viewpoint the stories are written in. If I was going to have a story, I needed proper characters, rather than just a blank “you” canvas. I thus soon decided to start making characters for the series, but tie them into the ones I’d already finished by making them the “you” character getting nomed.
You’ve already met one of them, the “Jeff” guy who introduces himself at the end of the last story I posted. Surprisingly, even though it takes place earlier in the timeline, that story was one of the more recent ones I wrote. Anyway, I hope that the aforementioned story was able to effectively give everyone a grasp of Jeff’s character, but I haven’t yet revealed his design. I considered doing that here, but ultimately decided that since he gets described in another story that I’ve already finished, there was no point.
Jeff, however, is not the protagonist. He’s the protagonist’s best friend. Who is this “best friend” character, you may ask? Good question. Well, technically, you’ve already seen him in the Steve story, but you won’t really be able to get a true grasp of who he is until later. His name will not be revealed until a while later, even though I have a name I really like for him. There will be more original characters added later, but you’ll have to be patient for them to arrive.
Oh yeah, and if you were wondering why Jeff is named Jeff, well, in all honesty, I just randomly started thinking of names for the character I had in mind at one point, and Jeff was the first thing that came to mind. Thus, I stuck with it, partially because it’s kinda funny.
One last thing I want to mention. Some of you may have noticed that the story where Jeff is introduced has a different formatting structure than the other two before it. That’s because I started using the first structure, but as time went on, that style started becoming a little inconvenient and confusing to use, so I switched it up. I think the switch works.
So yeah, the stories coming later will have a lot more story spice to them in addition to the nomming. So be prepared for the new story coming on Friday. However, as the title of this post promised, you’re not walking away without a little sneak peak, so here you go!
****
You begin to be able to hear the swift noises of footsteps clunking against the floor as they come towards you through the semi-thick cloth of the backpack you have been stowing in for the past few hours. There are voices outside where you currently reside, though they are muffled, and you can’t quite understand what they’re saying. You are able to decipher that there is one more masculine voice and several more feminine voices. You can feel the backpack you are in being lifted and thrown over the shoulder of the more masculine voice as you barely avoid getting crushed by a falling textbook. You do, however, manage to trip over a pencil in the process, leaving you to fall to the cloth floor of the backpack with a small “Oof!”. Now quite a while away from the feminine voices, the wearer of the backpack suddenly stops upon your abrupt exclamation. Picking yourself up, the sound of the backpack’s zipper unzipping echoes through the area as a fresh beam of light illuminates the inside, finally revealing your presence to the wearer. Your jaw instantly drops as you realize just who the person you are staring up at is. “S-Senpai?” you immediately ask yourself in your head.
“Oh my, what do we have here?” a curious Senpai sparkles as he stares down at you. “It seems a little tiny has somehow managed to slip into my backpack. Odd, isn’t it. I wonder why.” Senpai blushes with a glowing smile as he gently slips his fingers around you and lifts you out of his backpack before zipping it back up and throwing it over his shoulder again.
“Tell me, little one. Just how have these circumstances come to pass? Someone like you just happening to cross paths with someone like me? It can’t just be pure coincidence, now can it?”
“Geez Louise, this guy loves fancy sentence structures.” you think to yourself as you consider how to respond. You clear your throat before explaining to Senpai how you entered his backpack to find a safe place to rest as you were exploring his pixelated world.
“Ah, an adventurer, I see! That explains your out-of-placeness I suppose. I do simply wonder how many other worlds you have explored on your travels! Oh, if I may take you home, shall you tell me all about them?” Senpai responds before gazing off in somewhat of a dream-like trance, his blush visibly increasing.
You can somewhat feel your body heating up as you begin to visibly blush as well. “How the hell is he this good with words that I’m already blushing? Has he practiced these lines or something?” You find yourself unable to respond before Senpai notices your state and begins to speak once more.
“Ah, don’t worry my little one, we don’t have to rush into anything just yet. After all, we do have to get home first. Hmmm. Holding you in my hand may be a bit awkward, and I don’t think the backpack would be an entirely safe place to hold you in this case….” Senpai begins rambling before he turns directly to you. “Do...you have any ideas?”
YEP! SENPAI’S THE PRED, SO THIS IS GONNA GET SPICY! NOT NSFW, BUT DEFINITELY SPICY!

another story from preschool sundayschool:
so there’s this little boy in my grandma’s sunday school class and he’s super sweet but he’s showing some early signs of autism so he has trouble with things like understanding and following directions, speaking, and responding to discipline, etc. but anyway, he LOVES lining things up. like we have little toy cars the kids can play with and like, tiny kid-sized chairs and waffle blocks and fake fruit and things and he’ll just go to town putting them in a row and then starting from the other end and making a second row until the first row’s gone and it’s all very endearing to watch bc he’s just vibin, bro. he’s having fun and you can tell. but like i said, he has some trouble responding to discipline, so when he GRABS the crayons and starts BOOKIN’ IT for the wall, i’m the one who has to grab him and swing him up into like, a bridal style hold to keep him from writing on the wall and while that’s kinda funny once, it gets very old when it happens SEVEN. TIMES...................we had to take away the crayons. he didn’t really mind tho, he just went back to putting things in rows.
i’m slowly learning how to interact with him in a way that makes him comfortable but it kinda feels like i’m the only one trying with him. and i don’t want to come across as like, arrogant or full of myself for saying that like, i don’t think anyone should get special recognition for treating someone like a human being and working with them to help them learn in a healthy environment. so that’s not at all what this ask is about, it’s just more of a like, rant/story time......fthing? idk. but like, the other teachers are my grandmother and like, two middle-aged women and while they’re amazing teachers, their teaching and way of disciplining the kids is a bit out-dated so they don’t realize the extent that autism effects kids. so they try and work with him the way they do with the rest of the kids but for him, it’s harsh and ineffective and almost always causes him to melt down, which is just distressing for everyone, especially him. and it’s just kinda sad to see bc he doesn’t understand and neither do they so it’s just bad all around and i feel like the only one that’s really trying to figure it out and work with him and while i love it, it just gets kinda frustrating sometimes, y’know? idk
long story short, this kid is a joy and i love him but the older teachers don’t get how to work with him so it’s sorta up to me and while i love it, it gets tiring rather quick.
-✨SA
Oof yeah, it would definitely be great to educate more people on how to interact with neuro atypical kids!

I request: Leonardo. Please and thank you 🙏.
Tumblr media
Idk if everyone loves Leo or if my header and avatar just remind everyone about this amazing blue boy. (This one’s super silly btw. I’m just sillier as time goes on. Character development I guess?)
The iconic leador Leonardo (1987)
Tumblr media
Bro idk why but I loved this Leo. I have a tiny memory, especially with this version but I clearly remember that I thought he was the funniest and the coolest. I mean, he had swords, what was I supposed to do as a 7-year-old. NOT like him??? Anyway, while Raph was the best at insult comedy, I think Leo had the best puns and punchlines. I really like how nonchalant this Leo is compared to his iterations, going along with really silly ideas and having fun along the way. But because of this, his leadership is a little forced at times, he seems like such a chill and fun dude that when he gets serious, I have to squint and ask ‘are you Leo? Or were you just putting on act a moment ago?’ Or my perception is entirely warped over time. Either way, good turtle boy, could have used some work tho. 5.7/10
Here comes grumpy lad wooo this is all read very monotone btw Fearless Leader (2003)
Tumblr media
What. What the fuck happened. I was actually so confused when Leo turned really angry and serious and almost manic. I thought that episode when he popped into Casey’s window and was like ‘Hey bitch lets go beat the shit out of some lowlifes’ I was WOAH THERE BUDDY BACK UP BACK UP BACK TF UP. It was so sudden to me and when it was finally explained, it made some sense??? Like yeah, character development is great an’ all but this ain’t it chief. I can’t imagine what it was like having to wait for these episodes to release one at a time. Bc I watched every episode back to back on Youtube and I was genuinely bamboozled. But when you have an experience like that where guilt is weighing down on you from a situation you couldn’t control, it would’ve been HELLA HELPFUL to have at least a flashback, like a line saying ‘I was so useless!’ at BARE MINIMUM. Like right after Shredder is booted off to Planet Zula, Donnie would notice that Leo didn’t seem all that happy and would ask why and Leo would get upset and yell at Donnie saying that ‘You wouldn’t understand’, ‘You don’t know how I felt, how I feel because of that’, etc. Like you don’t even have to say he felt guilty or helpless, just give us something to grab onto. We’re merely six-year-olds who thought they could climb the YMCA rock wall in easy mode but instead the script riders harnessed us up on the hard one and wouldn’t let us come down until we rang the little bell at the top. I think that is the only problem I had with his Leo. The sudden change of calm and decisive to angry and irrational was so jarring that it felt unnatural without that crucial context. If you want a surprise reveal, at least hint at the reveal (like just about every Disney movie with their ‘twist’ villains) not wait until the very last moment. I think this might be my least favorite Leo and I think the season where he stood out the most and seemed the strongest was Fast Forward (Which was GOOD FIGHT ME), especially in scenes with Dark Leo, his clone. He sees so much of himself in Dark Leo but he also sees something he had once grasped (AKA the poorly written character arc, I CANNOT stress how bad I thought it was). Although, I honestly think he’s a really good character and he’s a pretty neat guy. However, this score is entirely held up by Fast Forward and his connection with Usagi, sword bros to the end of time. 3/10 (2 for FF and 1 for Usagi)
And now a Leo that makes me genuinely feel UWU Leo (2012)
Tumblr media
I cannot stress how much I like this guy! Like his design is so appealing, his dedication, his obsession with Space Heroes, like I FUCKING LOVE IT. And everyone knows, that shit with Karai, at first when they didn’t realize they were related, I can let slide but kajsdflksadf what even like why did the writers feel the need to add in more ‘love interest’ implications like yuck yuck yuck. The only two interactions with Leo and Karai that I really like are when Leo defeats her using the healing hands technique and when Leo has a goth/emo/punk/idk I’m new here phase and they team up and EXPLOSIONS. He was introduced to us as being incredibly naive and his idea of leadership is from some old cartoon that’s basically star trek but ethically questionable. After his fights in season 1, to the finale with the technodrome, you can see his growth. He’s able to formulate plans and make life or death decisions. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE. When Leo got hurt, I felt like the oof sound effect mixed with some tears I normally shed at some Shojo manga bs. While the episodes following were super weird, it was a nice way to help Leo recover, not only physically but spiritually (Although I don’t remember the spirit arc at all except the epic Raph vs Fishface fight, so we’re skipping that). When Master Splinter really died, you could tell there was a huge impact on Leo, but he had to remain stoic and lead the family now. A lot of heartbreaking moments in this series came from Leo and I’m glad they took at least some thought into developing him. Tiny head Leo will haunt my nightmares, but the giggly fanboy will warm my heart constantly. 6/10
I only have one word for this Leo (Heroes in a Half Shell: Blast to the Past)
Tumblr media
This is a super crazy bad idea accent on the super crazy bad part have I mentioned it’s also a really terrible idea/10
Okay, spoiler alert, didn’t really think this Leo was that grand Leo (2014/2016)
Tumblr media
Painfully average. He didn’t stand out that much, Raph was part of the focus and had that touching scene at the end, Donnie was ICONIC and Mikey (with his weird-ass eyes) was super lively and funny! Leo? Uh, I don’t remember a single line he said. Because he never really grabbed my attention, I don’t have too much to say on this version. The Raph and Leo fight felt forced and the whole ‘keep this stuff that could turn us human a secret’ was pretty pointless and was added just to cause drama, I don’t even remember what that Splinter and Leo conversation was about. Design-wise, really neat! You can see some more traditional Japanese clothing/style mixed with modern (I’d feel a lot better about this assumption if some could tell exactly what the heck he’s wearing, but I get traditional Japan warrior vibes from it) in his look which was super neat! Other than that, if you like him, please tell me why because I don’t get. He was just kinda eh. 5/10
AHHH MY BOY YASSS WHOOO!! Neon Leon (2018)
Tumblr media
Okay, I loved Ben Schwarts already from Parks and Rec but like him being Sonic AND Leo, like DUDE. He’s super funny by himself but teamed up with this shows writing and animation, it makes it hilarious. I literally love this Leo so much, maybe because we’re alike but honestly, he’s amazing. I love his design with the red and yellow crescents accenting his skin and livening up his color pallet. He has a very healthy and natural dynamic with his brothers, he’s the first to know what’s wrong and tries his best to make up for his actions. This is really prominent in the most recent episodes, along with the episode portal jacked. In both, Leo is separated from his brothers. Portal Jacked is in a more literal sense, while Air Turtle handles in more of an emotional sense. While both are brief, Leo sees his error and tries his best to make it up to them. I love his dynamic so much and it’s so nice to see something like this compared to the unnecessary drama and tension between the brothers in the previous series. It’s refreshing and this is something a younger audience needs to see; instead of fighting, it’s better to work together and improve yourself along the way. Improvement is a big theme for Leo here. He’s a goofball, makes jokes at every opportunity and isn’t quite skilled at fighting or using his weapon. But he grows over time, he learns to manage his power and he’s working on mastering it. He’s trying to put aside his narcissism more and focuses on his family. I think the approach they took with him rising to leader rather than slapping it on his forehead was the goddamn best decision they could make. He’s making plans, finding loopholes, helping out and getting out of his comfort zone. I cannot stress how well this show has handled Leo, along with the other characters. I can’t wait to see more episodes about his growth and I am awarding him with one of the greatest honors I could give... 10/10
Storytime: I drew a super cute 2012 Leo, you should look at him. Shameless self-promo, but you should follow me on my main blog bc I’m nice and I draw pretty pictures. Also. I have a little 2012 Leo Happy Meal toy??? I think??? guarding my window and he’s been there for YEARS. I need to bring him in and refresh his paint job.
Wow! I didn’t expect this many requests for Leo, so the blog will be momentarily spammed with the requests, but it shouldn’t be too much! Up next should be the last turtle (Mikey) and then we can get to some REALLY great requests I’m eager to answer. As usual, please comment and reblog! I’d love to hear your opinion!

I for one was seething while Ms assh... Weaver basically confirmed to her designed punching bag that she keeps her around because she's a decent emotional support for Adora, so... wanna go even deeper and stab the reader s'more?
Oh I love stabbing the reader. And I love this scene so I’ll do the whole fuckin’ thing. (Commentary is bolded.)
This scene really is heartbreaking. It was easy for me to write, though, because Catra and (Shadow) Weaver have a very particular dynamic that I vibe with. It's such a pivotal scene for Catra too, because it confirms her fears that her success would be met with pushback and that Weaver really doesn’t love her or care about her at all. It makes her feel dehumanized both in the sense of being treated as subhuman and being treated as a tool. Something to be kept around only so long as it’s useful, discarded the second it’s not. This is the moment when she learns for certain just how little she means to Weaver and it’s painful to read.
*Content Warning for abuse*
The sound of keys in the front door makes Catra frown in confusion as she unloads the last of her books. No one is ever home this early. Even when Weaver doesn’t have any sponsored clubs or other teacher bullshit to deal with, 3:15 is the earliest she ever gets home.
But Catra’s always had sensitive ears, and those are definitely Ms. Weaver’s footsteps crossing the floor. When the woman pokes her head into the kitchen, no doubt to investigate the smell, Catra gives her a jerky nod. “Went to work after all?”
“No, I had some errands to run,” Weaver replies flatly. “Lying around all day like a lazy sack of meat doesn’t come naturally to me.”
Me @ Weaver:
Tumblr media
Bitch she’s baking cookies, she’s clearly not lying around all day. Why you gotta be like that?
“Yeah, me neither,” mutters Catra, deflecting the obvious implication.
“I have something for you,” says Weaver, and Catra can’t help but look up in surprise. Weaver tosses her something and she instinctively moves to catch it. Just before it hits her hands, she realizes what it is and her stomach drops. Fingering the rough edges of the rolled up newspaper, she tries to breathe steadily as she forces her eyes up to meet Weaver’s. (Oh gotta love that trauma response.) The woman looks more unimpressed than predatory right now, but Catra knows better than anyone how that can change at the drop of a hat.
“Looks like your little ploy paid off,” she remarks.
Sighing, Catra sets the paper down on the table. “I told you, it wasn’t a ploy. Just a play.”
“I see. And I suppose the fact that this article was written by a close friend of yours is a complete coincidence.”
LOL clearly Weaver knows nothing about Entrapta if she thinks she could be bribed into writing something she doesn’t believe.
“I had nothing to do with that,” Catra denies swiftly. When Weaver’s expression doesn’t change, she insists, “Really, I swear.”
Weaver’s head tips the slightest bit, that familiar predatory tinge seeping into her eyes and voice. “And why should I believe you?”
Catra huffs, arms crossing defensively over her chest. “Why would I do something I know would get me in trouble?”
“I don’t know, Catra, you tell me,” says Weaver, slowly closing the gap between them. “It’s not as though you’ve been doing that your entire life.”
Me @ Weaver:
Tumblr media
Like okay, it’s kinda true. But still.
Tensing more with every step Weaver takes, Catra raises her hands innocently, trying and failing not to shift her weight to her back foot. Not to give ground or show her fear. (This is making me super uncomfortable so I’m probably just gonna keep memeing at you all. Yes, I am aware that this is my fault. No, I am not sorry.) “Look, Entrapta has really strong opinions, and they’re always backed up with facts. I couldn’t just plant the idea in her head to write something like this.”
“Facts, you say?” muses Weaver. She reaches past Catra in a very deliberate show of invading her space, and Catra can’t help but suck a quick breath in through her teeth. But Weaver doesn’t touch her. All she does is pick up the paper and turn it over in her hands as though she is deep in thought. Then the motion stops, her eyes snapping up sharply. “So you agree with her.”
Weaver @ Catra:
Tumblr media
“That’s not what I said,” protests Catra, her exasperation showing through her tenuous attempts at staying calm. “Stats are facts, not who deserves what awards or whatever. It’s not like I even care about that.”
Weaver shakes her head, her chuckle positively dripping with condescension. “Oh, now I know you’re lying.”
She is. She really is. And the fact that Weaver knows how much Catra cares and wants praise and approval and still denies her that makes me want to slap a bitch.
Also I just realized how closely this scene parallels the one in 1x04 and that actually wasn’t intentional but I’ll take it, clearly I’ve got the spirit of their relationship down.
“No, I-”
The newspaper smacks Catra across the cheek and she yelps in shock and pain, hand flying to her mouth.
Tumblr media
It shouldn’t be a shock, not after 14 years of this shit. It still is, every time.
Ugh, ow.
“Enough of your lip,” hisses Weaver. “You know better than to contradict me.”
Hate is not a strong enough word for how I feel about this woman. Unfortunately there are too many people just like her. I’ve noticed the audience particularly hates this incarnation of Shadow Weaver and I think it’s because when she’s stripped of her magic the tactics she’s left with are far too familiar. I feel the same way.
Catra’s tongue swipes along her stinging lip, checking for blood. It comes back clean, but the lack of physical damage does nothing to calm the quiet rage boiling up inside of her. Weaver has never treated her with an ounce of respect, and now she has the gall to hit her with a rolled up newspaper like she’s a fucking animal. Subhuman. (I mean this feeling comes straight out of Demons but with Catra being human in this au it’s... not worse, definitely not, but it hits differently.) Catra’s fists clench and her chest puffs out as she straightens up to her full height (even if it’s nothing on Weaver).
“Do not touch me,” growls Catra, her voice low and dangerous in a way few people have ever heard it. “I’m an adult, that’s officially illegal now.”
Oh, you sweet summer child.
“Oh, you want to talk about the law?” counters Weaver, sounding far too calm in comparison. It just makes Catra angrier. And maybe a little scared. Somehow Weaver always makes her feel out of control, which never ceases to remind her who is in control. (Oof.) “I am under no obligation to let you live here, Catra, let alone at a significant discount. I do that out of the kindness of my heart. (LOL the what now?) Would you rather I throw you out in the streets like the stray you are?”
Tumblr media
Yay for another insinuation that Catra is an animal. Nice going, Weaver.
Also, that is one of the meanest fucking lines I’ve ever written for Shadow Weaver and that’s saying something.
Those words hit Catra right in the gut, a blow far more painful than any physical one. They trigger a flood of other words that always seem to find her, stick to her no matter how she tries to slough them off, prove them wrong. Stray, nuisance, brat, worthless, unwanted, unloved...
But she was loved once. She was.
Oh boy, get ready for PAIN. So I wasn’t orginally planning to write this flashback but then I got a Very Bad Idea and I love torturing my readers (and myself) so this happened.
Kneeling in front of the open door, Papi opened his arms for a goodbye hug. When Catra stepped into them, she felt his smile against the side of her head. “Te amo, mija.”
“Yo también te amo, Papi,” said Catra, tiny arms tightening around his neck with a proud grin. He hadn’t taught her that one, she’d pieced it together on her own.
Papi chuckled in surprise and approval, ruffling her wild hair. “You’re a genius, little one. You know that?”
“Yep!” she answered, beaming with the completely earnest confidence only a precocious three year-old can muster.
Baby Catra’s behavior may be slightly inspired by my highly intelligent four year-old niece, who is also biracial with a multilingual father.
A couple playful taps of the horn from the driveway interrupted them, making Papi chuckle once again. Pulling away enough to look Catra in the eye, he winked conspiratorially. “Better not keep Mommy waiting. You know how she is.”
Catra shook her head soberly in agreement. Mommy was notoriously impatient, a speed demon on the road. Catra loved driving with her, laughing like a maniac from the backseat whenever she’d swerve and cuss out the idiots in her way. Those cackles never failed to make Mommy shoot Catra a smile in the rearview mirror, her transitory rage melting away in an instant at the sound. Still, it was never good being on the receiving end of that impatience.
(Catra’s mother is not at all inspired by my sister, however. She drives like a fucking granny.)
Papi quickly pecked Catra on the cheek before standing and waving goodbye, giving an appreciative nod to the babysitter as he pulled the door shut behind him.
He didn’t close it loudly or anything, but no sound is louder in Catra’s nightmares. She never saw either of them again.
“Answer me, Catra,” Ms. Weaver demands sternly.
That was what she had. And this is where she ended up.
Yeah, no wonder this version of Catra just assumes anything good in her life will be taken away. In some ways it might be worse than being Adora starting with nothing, because not only does Adora not remember what she lost in infancy (which wasn’t great to begin with), she has been steadily moving up in the world since. Catra’s had the opposite trajectory.
Suddenly noticing the tears rolling down her cheeks, Catra swipes them away with the back of her hand. Her throat hurts too much to swallow, so she doesn’t even bother trying to settle her voice. Her weakness is already on full display, anyway. Shaking her head, she whispers hoarsely, “No, Ms. Weaver.”
“Good,” Weaver says with finality as Catra sniffles, blinking back more tears. “You still live under my roof, and you will abide by my rules or face the consequences, just like anyone else.”
Oh boy, that’s a little too close for comfort. Again with this version of SW feeling especially despicable to the audience because it’s so familiar.
Just like anyone else. Sure.
Yeah you’re right Catra, go off.
As Weaver starts toward her room, Catra half-heartedly tosses a hand with an empty, resigned sigh. “What rules did I break this time?”
Weaver turns back, her expression dangerous, but Catra can’t muster the enthusiasm for fear anymore. Her eyes are still burning, voice tight with emotion as she confesses, “I’ve tried, Ms. Weaver. I-” Her voice cracks and she shakes her head, pinching her brow in shame. “I never wanted you to hate me.”
brb crying in the club
K but honestly the helplessness here is just heartbreaking. And it’s just like in canon. We saw, Catra did try to be a good soldier and make Shadow Weaver like her, but it was a lost cause. I mean I didn’t pull this dialogue directly from 2x06 but it’s a similar flavor for sure.
When Catra dares to look back up she finds that Weaver’s expression has softened slightly, though she still looks annoyed. “I never said I hate you,” she says, the uncharacteristic gentleness catching Catra off guard. “You’re just more trouble than you’re worth most of the time.”
It shouldn’t be a comfort. But it is, anyway. It is. Catra sniffles again, dipping her head to wipe her eyes on her shoulders.
The fact that this is a comforting answer to Catra is so fucked up and tragic but so befitting of their relationship.
“Though I will admit, you do have a way with Adora,” concedes Weaver, her tone very nearly impressed. “Not everyone can handle someone like that and keep them on task. I’ve had plenty come through my classroom.”
Wow, so we’re just being casually ableist now? Nice.
My thoughts exactly, Catra.
...Ableist and pragmatic.
Catra snorts under her breath, shaking her head as her eyes fall to the floor. How did she never put this together before? “That’s why you’re letting me stay.”
This truly is a gut punch moment. She thought maybe Weaver actually had a bit of affection for her or was invested in her future after all (which tracks for Catra because she is mean to the people she likes) and that’s why she let her stay, but no. As usual, it’s all about Adora. That is not going to bode well for the resentment moving forward.
“She does badly with her routine being disrupted, and she’s come to rely on you,” states Weaver, tipping her head in acknowledgement.
“Plus she’d hate you if you kicked me out,” Catra adds pointedly.
Weaver smiles, all teeth. “It is better for everyone this way, wouldn’t you say?”
Better for you, you mean.
“Sure,” mutters Catra. When that response earns her a look, she corrects herself. “Yes, Ms. Weaver.”
Eyes narrowed into slits, Weaver warns her, “Make no mistake, Catra. Adora would manage if you left us. If your behavioral issues begin to outweigh your usefulness, I reserve the right to evict you.” She cocks an expectant eyebrow. “Am I understood?”
“Yes, ma’am,” mumbles Catra.
Poor Catra, I just...
“I care very much about Adora, and I won’t have you dragging her down with you.”
“I remember,” Catra says numbly, picking at her nails and avoiding Weaver’s gaze.
Ooooooooooof. Why do I insist on hurting myself so much with all these canon parallels?
Studying her intently for a moment, Weaver concludes, “Yes, I’m sure you do.” Then she turns and leaves without another word.
Well that was lovely. Anybody else want to reach through the screen and throttle a bitch? ‘Cause I sure do.
This scene doesn’t cause an immediate reaction on Catra’s part but it definitely moves her to a place where she’s very aware of her role and how useless it is to try to change it (at least in this house), and that makes everything a little more volatile. She’s not at a breaking point yet but she’s getting closer, it certainly takes the wind out of her sails a bit. She will recover in the short term because she is Catra and her stubbornness makes her very resilient, but it weighs her down and eventually she is going to snap. Y’all will love that, I’m sure. ;)

Could you do some hcs for Uvo were his pre s/o is trying to hit on him but they are shy & awkward and failing at it? (I love the big man, but approaching him? Oof). thank you!!
Of course~ I feel like uvo wouldn't be as awkward, but awkward uvo can be a possibility, so I'm gonna make it happen, I’m sorry if this seems rushed or maybe even too slow, but the ending I didn’t really know how to finish up with so I thought some things up so this wouldn’t be dragged too much (I kinda dragged in the beginning) but I’m not super good with hc’s, I hope you like it though, I did enjoy writing it :D
Edit: this is my 200th post and I’m- wow 😂😂
Tumblr media
So, honestly, I have no idea where you’d see this man casually, he’s the biggest brute of the troupe so I feel like the only way you’d actually be able to see him anywhere remotely casual would be if he was stealing something from a store
I’m gonna say you’re an employee because I don’t think a random citizen would really go up and talk to him, an employee would have a reason (he’s stealing your shit dawg, he might be scary but you gotta say something)
He’d most likely have Nobunaga with him because they needed stuff for dinner at ‘home’ and you’d overhear something about the troupe (because this man is loud as balls, fucking fog-horn sounding ass)
I’m sorry I roast people that I like it’s my attempt at trying to hide my feelings
Of course, you’d freak out at first because holy shit the phantom troupe really out here
Initially you wouldn’t really know what to do, so instead of calling your manager, you’d just walk up to them out of bold impulse
You’d say you heard them talking and that if they didn’t leave you’d call the police, even though you knew it wouldn’t do anything
Uvogin would just laugh in your face before telling you to get lost before you get hurt and for some reason you just stood your ground, tilting your head at him and crossing your arms
“No.”
You being this bold would make Nobunaga think you were just the dumbest bitch alive but I think Uvogin would find this rather interesting. Some tiny girl would really stand him up in public like this...
He’d hand the stuff to Nobunaga and kneel down to get a better look at you, noticing you were actually rather attractive, and for a second it would throw him off guard
You’d spit something like “what are you staring at?” or something like that and he’d realize that he was in fact staring and then he’d actually stutter for a second
He’d be up front, tell you that you were really pretty and that he wasn’t in the mood to hurt you so you might as well just leave, something to cover up the thoughts in his head
Lots and lots of blushing on your part, probably some fidgeting and avoidance of eye contact since really you didn’t get a lot of compliments often
You looked fucking adorable, soft skin flushing under your uniform and your arms tightening over your chest, it’d make him smile to himself
He’d pat your arm and to add insult to injury (if that’s what you wanna call it I guess) he’d keep saying stuff like that to you, to a Nobunaga’s misery
Eventually Nobu would break it up and say that the two of you could talk some other time
Uvogin would leave, just like that and over time he’d actually come see you every once in a while, maybe even being a little put off by you because you were just cute
You’d try to avoid him at first because while he was very attractive he was a criminal and you weren’t interested, but of course he was stubborn and kept trying
You’d get super shy and awkward because you weren’t used to it and Uvogin would feel awkward because you would t really respond, no longer because you weren’t interested but simply because you didn’t know how to
Eventually this would lead to you getting his number or something and you’d start dating~

273. Sonic the Hedgehog #200
Tumblr media
Turn About is Fair Play
Writer: Ian Flynn Pencils: Tracy Yardley! Colors: Matt Herms
Welcome to the two-hundredth issue of the Archie Sonic preboot! It's another big milestone issue, but unfortunately, compared to some of the others it's a little… light on content, if you will. Most of it consists of pages and pages of fighting, some of it with very little dialogue other than "Ugh!" and "Oof!" and "Argh!" It honestly reminds me in a way of those old, early-era issues that were mostly just Sonic and Knuckles beating the crap out of each other in various locales with a few pages before and after to explain why they'd decided to get into a tussle this time - only now, the big fight is between Sonic and, of course, Eggman.
Right off the bat, Eggman makes kind of a weird comment, claiming that Sonic has been a thorn in his side for "fifteen years and more." I say it's weird because no matter how you look at the timeline, it doesn’t really seem to match up. It can't be referring to Sonic's age, because Sonic is seventeen here, and he certainly didn't start fighting Eggman when he was two - the coup hadn't even happened at that point. And it can't be referring to how long the war has been going on for similar reasons. Sonic's been actively carrying on the fight against Eggman and his predecessor for about a decade now, assuming that he and the others formed the core Freedom Fighter group when he was around seven, but that still leaves several years unaccounted for. The only thing I can think of to make this comment make sense is that Eggman is specifically thinking about his previous war with the Sonic of his home zone. We know that his history was virtually identical to Sonic Prime's up until the events of Endgame, during which he roboticized himself to avoid losing outright. We can assume the fight went on a couple more years from there, and after his long stint in space as a computer program (anyone ever think about how weird Archie Sonic lore is) Eggman has been waging war anew against the Prime Zone's Freedom Fighters, and we can assume this has gone on for nearly two years at this point as well considering Sonic's year in space. I suppose, considering all that, that it could technically add up to fifteen years, but it's still a weird comment to make. Then again, we know that Eggman has been kind of losing it lately, and Sonic's careless and mocking attitude certainly doesn't help.
Tumblr media
As their battle begins, Sonic smugly begins checking off the list of every way Eggman has failed to keep his empire in order - how "a group of kids with no real training" have continuously thwarted him in every way, how his failures always translate directly into wins for the heroes, and how even in the times he has won, such as at Knothole, it's been temporary at best, with the heroes coming out even stronger on the other side. Eggman sputters in a fury as Sonic continues to list off his failures, how he doesn't even control nearly as much of the world as he claims and that even in the places he does control the people hate him and want him gone, and how in the end, Sonic is confident he can beat him again just like always. What follows is what I mentioned before, just pages and pages of fighting as Sonic continues to trash the Egg Spider and Eggman grows more and more apoplectic and incoherent until he's reduced to screaming about how much he hates Sonic. After a good bit of bashing and spindashing, the Egg Spider is finally reduced to scrap, and Sonic, feeling quite pleased with the way their final battle has gone, strikes a nice victory pose.
And then… this happens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yikes. We knew that Eggman was slowly losing his grip on reality, but this is just downright disturbing. Sally tries to report to Sonic on the team's success and the Legion's retreat, but finds herself distracted by Eggman's gibbering tantrum, asking Sonic what the hell he did to him. Sonic is equally at a loss to explain what's going on, but Snively's voice interrupts the both of them, grimly informing them that this final defeat has completely broken his uncle's mind in half.
Tumblr media
I'll admit, the first time I read this I did not see this coming despite the lead-up - it almost seemed like too much, like something of this caliber wouldn't make it into a comic for kids (well, more like teens at this point - I feel like the storylines have long since gone beyond being for young children). And yet in the end, I feel like that's exactly why Ian is so beloved as the head writer - he was willing to take things seriously, include real stakes for the characters and write in plot developments like this that would completely change the status quo. Eggman has been consistently losing his way through every Sonic game, comic, anime, and every other piece of media for decades now, and at some point, in some canon, it was liable to break him entirely. Just, no one ever expected it to be this dramatic.
Everyone else bursts into the room, and they begin to celebrate wildly as they realize the war is over, though Sonic stands amid the chaos with a look of blank disappointment on his face. Sally recovers fairly quickly and begins crying from happiness, using Nicole's handheld to broadcast the message of their victory to the entirety of New Mobotropolis, where the citizens are celebrating wildly in the streets. As they make their way back out of the Eggdome, Tails and Amy excitedly get Sonic to recount the battle to them, but he's less than enthusiastic, missing his usual dramatic flair. When questioned on his attitude, or lack thereof, he frowns and claims that he's merely tired after the fight, which they accept without question.
Tumblr media
I'm not surprised Sonic doesn't feel right about all this. I'm sure he thought the finale to the big showdown was going to be, well, epic, with Eggman angrily sputtering about how he'll get him next time only to have his ego taken down a notch by Sally's end-of-the-war speech. It can't feel at all good to beat your enemy so hard that he literally goes insane, even if he is a genocidal maniac. After all, Sonic isn't cruel - he doesn't fight for the express purpose of torturing Eggman, he fights to protect the people and the world he loves. Causing such extreme mental anguish just isn't something he's interested in, and yet his actions have led to it anyway, causing some serious emotional conflict for him. But hey, he's Sonic, and in the end he's able to pick up and carry on, satisfied that in the long run he's done the right thing. And hey, it is the end of the war! Time to enjoy, for the second time, a new era of peace and prosperity with no more dire threats to the world and his family and friends' safety! Right? R…right?
Of course not! Where would we be if there was no more conflict in this comic?! I mean, granted, there was an entire era in the past dealing with precisely that - how child soldiers deal with trying to live an ordinary life after fighting an adults' war - but it'd be kinda weird to try to just rehash all that a second time over. Plus, Sonic has grown up since then - I feel like if the story truly did end here and there were no more villains to face, Sonic would ultimately be able to adjust and live a happy and fulfilling life without all the constant hero work to keep him busy. But as it is, there is another situation brewing - don't tell me you forgot about Snively's little online romance! After securing Eggman in a straightjacket and padded cell within the Eggdome, Snively makes his way to the landing pad on top of the Eggdome, ordering all the Legion's members to meet him up there. He's ready to introduce them all to their new leader, who will be taking over the running of the Eggman Empire now that its namesake is, ahem, indisposed. And this new ruler just so happens to be…
Tumblr media
T-the Iron Queen? You mean that one-off character from waaayyy back in StH#60? Yeah, see, I did hint at this back in my review of that issue. I think I've mentioned it before, but Ian is very fond of bringing back old, forgotten characters and concepts from the earliest days of the comic and breathing new life into them, finding ways to weave them back into the story to become much more interesting than they had been before. The Iron Queen, here, is a technomancer, and quite power-hungry (and apparently has a thing for tiny gremlin men, despite being married to a gigantic Mobian bull). I will admit that she's not my favorite villain of the series, but she's not a bad one at all, and indeed it's her arrival that catapults us out of the sixth era and into the seventh, as we get ready to face down the menace of her Iron Dominion! Man, so much for peace. Sonic never does get a break, does he?

Oc-tober day 5: Old
For Day 5’s challenge, I brought back what I believe to be my first trans character haha. This will start as cringe plz bear with me. Im copy pasting the Quickie I had planned for a post in my writing blog.
PunchLine: Quickie Summary
Just suddenly grew nostalgic of this story lol. Notes before delving into the plot:
-        I literally started this story’s concept when I was in 5th – 6th grade and first watched Ouran High School Host Club. My kid brain was mad at Haruhi for not taking advantage of her passing as a boy so I made what started as a self-insert oc that gradually transformed into my first trans character ever. Whack, lol.
-        Just a side thing, most of my damn stories have playlists and I swear, All Time Low/All American Rejects songs are exclusively this story’s official soundtrack.
-        The main character’s name is super…. Wow lol. Please bear with me I might change it, just… this was a story I started making when I was 11 and really liked ‘unique’ names instead of conventional ones >X,,D
-        Please have mercy on my tiny weeb soul.
Lolol ok, plot start naw. Keep in mind I was very influenced by anime at this point of my life so I started this in a stereotypical Japanese setting but made it more Americanized over the years. Big oof.
Protagonist (I called em Echo lol) is a hella poor girl living pretty much by herself in a shitty apartment. Her aunt is her caretaker but she’s never home and she doesn’t work. Echo has to work a job herself to make money for food. She has a quiet personality, long, terrible hair with split ends everywhere, and a boxy frame. She works doing lots of manual labor, adding to her poor health.
Because she’s always been quiet, no one knows who she really is. She’s just ‘that poor girl who never talks’,  and they mostly leave her alone. One particularly shitty night however, after getting fired without her pay, she gets caught by some hotshot popular dude and his cronies with her work uniform on. Kids aren’t supposed to work. He takes a picture and threatens to turn her in if she doesn’t follow him. He’s just looking for some easy fun with a docile girl he can make do anything. She’s done being docile.
In true anime fashion she beats the hell out of these dudes, trash talking them the entire time. She’s merciless, bashing them all black and blue until they pass out. Only once everyone but the main instigator is down does she take his phone. “I have back-ups!” The boy exclaims through broken teeth. She looks at him and posts the image onto his feed herself. She’s done going to school anyways. She destroys the phone, laughing, and he loses consciousness. She gets up and dusts herself off.
She had a spectator. Some dude had watched the whole thing from his fancy car. He thinks he could use someone like her.
The following week goes as expected. She’s expelled. Her aunt came to act as a concerned guardian in front of the school but left immediately after. She took Echo’s savings. Echo is laying in her mattress on the floor, pretty much wishing to be dead when a knock on the door breaks her concentration.
Oh boy. It’s the spectator dude with two other boys (one of em may end up being cut lol). He has a proposition. She join their prestigious team from some fancy school for something (idk I initially had her join a mob lol but these kids are still in highschool. Maybe their fighting club?) and they’ll pay for her tuition and living expenses. But there’s a catch. The team is boys-only and she has to crossdress. She signs up immediately anyways lol. From now on, she will live as a boy (so I will use he/him pronouns).
Hmm… mayhaps the reason Echo has such a ‘unique’ name is because he chose it himself. Like the edgy teen he is. Cries.
Echo packs his stuff and goes with em. He hears the specifics about his new group. Eric is the leader, who’s father founded the group. He clearly puts on an aura of being tough and in control, but his delivery is too forced. The spectator dude that found Echo is his co-leader, a guy who actually knows what he’s doing, but doesn’t want to overthrow Eric because he thinks it’s funny seeing him struggle. He is a dick lol. Depending on whether or not I’ll use him, the third dude is Eric’s best friend from childhood meant to be the soft one who helps Echo settle at first.
Moving on, I don’t have a coherent timeline of events, just scattered things that will happen. For sure, Eric and Echo keep butting heads, mostly because Eric tries to control Echo and the group as a whole too much, and Echo is like ‘dude, your demanding for perfection only makes me want to screw things up more to show you how unhealthy your expectations are. And also cuz youre cute when you’re mad.’
Eric has a legacy to live up to. He’s the classic worrywart trying to live up to an image and failing. Echo was brazen at first with his trying to mess Eric up, but he softens as he realizes how much it effects Eric. They eventually hear eachother out and come to a compromise. That’s the start of their friendship.
Then, a year later, comes Kimmie. She’s Eric’s childhood crush. She’s short, she’s plump, and she has a rude attitude. Eric’s been a simp for her since he was a kid. He tries way too hard to make her see him as a romantic partner; she’s the reason he grew out his hair when he heard her casually mention she likes it long.
What’s his reason for liking her so much? When they were kids, Eric was plump too, but unlike with her, kids would pick on him because he always just took it. She defended him a lot, and her fiery personality mixed with her ability to hit kids and get away with it made her feared. He idolized her ever since.
She reacts to this as well as you’d imagine a childhood crush staying just a crush is handled. Meaning she clearly sets up walls around him and tells him he’s not interested. Echo, however, catches her eye.
After a P.E session, Kimmie follows Echo to his usual changing place and catches him with his top off. Kimmie knew Echo was a ‘girl.’ Kimmie explains she had seen Echo before his transition. Echo laughs it off, finding her brazenness cute. “So what now? You wanna tell the school?” “… I require you for something actually…”
Kimmie is dating Echo now. Eric is devastated. Kimmie flaunts Echo around like a trophy, breaking many girl’s hearts that had previously asked him out. Echo has to follow her around as a part of their deal, but he doesn’t mind it. The more he learns about her, the more he likes her.
Eric tries to confront him about it along with his friends. Eric’s approach is…. Well… “You’re faking this, right? You don’t like girls, you’re not really a boy!” “Dude, I like what I like. Deal with it.” This response further punches Eric in the gut as everyone laughs nervously.
Some big event comes and Echo is Kimmie’s plus one. Eric doesn’t want to attend it so he stays in the mansion. Echo is feeling the guilt of the situation more with each day that passed. At the event, him and Kimmie have a great time, but when they escape the crowd and are alone, she tries for a kiss. Echo doesn’t proceed. Kimmie is disappointed, but Echo explains.
“I know the real reason you wanted to date me. It’s the same reason you touch my chest so much, why you wanted to see me in a dress, and why you told Eric you like long hair. Kimmie, you like girls.” He steps away from her. “And I can’t be your girlfriend in disguise.”
Kimmie is floored. She begins to cry. Echo is right. She’s a lesbian but she never wanted to accept it. She kept telling herself she’d find the right boy, and when Echo came, it felt so perfect. She thought she could just slip in and pretend that she was straight. But she isn’t.
She apologizes. She says, however, that she truly does like Echo now. Echo sighs and rubs their neck. “You can’t like me Kimmie… I’m not…” Kimmie thinks it through. “But… you were a girl before! The only reason you’re dressed like this is because of the contract!” “Yeaaaah… but I kinda like it now. This feels…. Better. More me.” Echo grins with confidence. “I’m a man now.”
Kimmie takes Echo’s figure in and sighs. “Ew. I can’t be date a man.” They laugh and break up, Echo going back home. Kimmie returns to the party and is spotted by one of Eric’s friends. He asks where Echo is and she tells him everything. Echo is going home, him and Kimmie just broke up. The friend tells Kimmie some comforting words before running away to the hall to call Eric and tell him the good news. Kimmie is available again, and he can be more aggressive this time!
Eric is slumped in the couch after binging Netflix and eating a pint of icecream. When he hears the news, his mind is stuck on only one piece of information. Echo is coming back home. Instead of feeling happy about Kimmie being available again, Eric realizes Echo is coming back after a break up. His worrywart tendencies has him picturing a comedically sobbing Echo, ruthlessly broken up with by Kimmie, wondering how he could continue to live without her. He cleans up the couch and by the time Echo enters, he’s saved him a spot on the couch and his own pint of icecream. Echo laughs but sits right beside him, accepting the comfort, even if Eric doesn’t know the full story. They have a nice night together, and by the morning, Kimmie’s sexuality is revealed thanks to a picture she posted in her social media celebrating with a girl she kissed.
She’s officially out and happier for it. Eric congratulates her when they run into eachother in the hallway. She’s surprised he’s not as sad as she expected him to be, but she’s touched by how genuinely kind he’s being to her. They stay friends, and even get closer thanks to Kimmie now putting her walls down again.
Movin on to another story event, Eric’s mom has been away for most of Echo’s stay, but she comes back. Eric has made it clear that Echo should stay away from her, and never let her know his transition. She somehow finds out thanks to some mishaps anyways. When the contract is revealed, she is ASTOUNDED that her boy would force a GIRL to live as a MAN. She’s putting a stop to this! She takes Echo away for a weekend spa treatment, girling Echo up, talking over him through the whole thing, never listening to his complaints and only reassuring herself that Echo is safe now and free to be pretty and feminine once more! It’s the proper way!
Needless to say Echo is uncomfortable.
The more Eric’s mom talks about herself and her own life, it’s clear that her way of thinking stems from some issues she had as a kid, being forced to work and to give up feminine things, but Echo doesn’t feel like she did at all. And though Echo enjoys some of the spa things, and doesn’t much mind being put in a dress, he just… prefers a suit. Would rather stay at home training with the group. Would rather keep his hair short as opposed to the length Eric’s mom proposes him to grow it at. It’s a bunch of little things, but they culminate in solidifying to Echo… he just wants to stay a boy. He’s not being forced to be one. He genuinely likes it.
When they return from their trip, Echo is in a skirt and heels. He is dolled up with professional make up and styled hair. The group ogles him, but as comments get thrown around about how good Echo looks as a girl, Eric can’t feel the same. He just feels it’s too… off. He doesn’t bring it up, he’s afraid he’ll hurt Echo’s feelings. All his mom’s mutterings got to him, and Eric feels guilty for forcing Echo to live as a man.
During dinner, he reassures his mom and Echo that they can get rid of the contract and Echo can live in their house and attend their school clause free.
Echo stops him right there.
“I don’t want to be a girl. I’m a boy.”
Eric and his mom are confused. They try to reassure Echo, but Echo continues. “No. No offence ma’am, but all weekend, you have talked over me, never listening to what I have to say. I don’t want to be a girl. I am not like you. I do not share your experiences nor your desires. I like being a boy. I like being called a boy. I like dressing like a boy. I want to be known as a boy.”
Echo gets up.
“I’m going to go change now. But before I go, I want to keep the contract. I have no problem with any of the conditions.” Echo looks at Eric and smiles. “I like being a part of the group and competing with you guys.” He’s flustered by his sincerity. Echo leaves. For the rest of the day, Echo is unbothered in his room, but when night comes, Eric goes up to bring him some food.
Echo didn’t really wash off the make up very good (damn that high quality stuff), and his hair is a mess. But he’s in comfortable clothes and he brings in Eric so they can hang. They talk about trivial stuff at first, spend an hour playing a game, and when it’s 3am, Eric gathers the guts to talk about it. That he’s glad Echo stood up for himself, and he sees him as a boy too. Echo bursts into laughter, teasing Eric.
“So that’s what you were so nervous about. I thought you were planning to ask me on a date.” More flustered Eric. “W-Why would I-“ Echo gives him a half hug that stops him, hiding his own blushing face. “Thanks…” Eric hugs him back. It’s yet another sweet moment before they finally get together…. In some other event in the future mwahahaha. Idk, I haven’t decided yet when they confess and actually start going out ;p cries.
Welp, there ya go. This is a story I still cringe at because of how anime it starts but damn these chars got me. I love Echo, Eric and Kimmie ;o; I’m sorry I’m a sucker v-v
