hello! i'm a big fan of your work! i noticed youre a risd alumnus, and i just wanted to ask: as someone currently working in the animation industry, how was your experience with risd? i'm having to choose between risd and a school that's popular specifically for animation, and was wondering if you might have any info that could help.

ooh I actually love this question because theres SO MUCH I wish I knew about the RISD animation program ahead of time and I'd love to give people a better idea than the one I had going in LOL. disclaimer that because I went a while ago (a whole class of college students have come and gone since I've graduated!) some of this info may be outdated. also this is purely my personal experience. BUT hopefully it helps

I want to say upfront that I loved my experience at RISD. I attended from the years 2013-2017. Like all private art colleges it was way too expensive (worth noting I had a significant need-based scholarship) but I worked my ass off and I learned a lot about art and I made friends there that I wouldn't trade for the world. As far as an art school experience goes I would tentatively say it was "worth it". However, I went in as a freshman hoping to major in animation and I came out with a BFA in illustration and this is a large part of why: RISD doesn’t have a good animation program for those looking to go into commercial animation. And I don’t think this is a grand statement like I think most of my fellow alum and teachers would agree. The thing is it’s kind of intentional LOL?? And the keyword here of course is “commercial”. Culturally, RISD is kind of a fine arts school first and I wouldn’t say they’re hostile towards industry work but it’s more often treated as secondary or like something unfortunate/dirty you have to do to make money so you can focus more on your “true art”. I have a tweet about this that went semi-viral a while ago actually…

I’m not gonna say everyone at RISD thinks this but it’s pretty prevalent. I'm honestly not outside the opinion lol. You can call it integrity or pretentiousness or whatever but without going into whether this is good or bad it really orients the curriculum and priorities of the school. It’s hearsay so take it with a grain of salt but I’ve heard that on occasions where RISD has been offered opportunities or partnerships to make the school into a pipeline for big studios (like making work specifically to cater to those places and funnel students through the door right after school) they’ve always stuck to their guns and said no to preserve their independence. 

The animation program at RISD is actually called FAV (sometimes stylized as F/A/V) for Film Animation Video and is… as one would guess..a mishmash of animation, film, and experimental video. Multimedia, experimental work is highly encouraged and overall the work and structure is a lot more geared towards submitting independent short films to film and animation festivals than it is towards building a portfolio to secure industry or client work. I didn’t major in FAV but I was on the FAV thesis track for about 3 years and I’d say the amount of help I had making an animation industry portfolio from my experience with FAV classes is close to none. At least for the thesis program we were never required or even asked to do anything such as design character turnarounds, bg designs or paint, even storyboards. And to be fair a lot of that pre-prod work that fills industry portfolios is a necessity of large commercial crews that need to coordinate over disparate departments and studios, not so much for independent single-animator projects. 

But as a result, a lot of RISD students with ambitions to go into animation/video games/ entertainment industry art in general actually major in illustration. Myself included. It’s not a perfect 1:1 match and even within the department there’s conflict as to whether there should be more of a focus on traditional editorial illustration or otherwise but it’s one of the broadest majors at RISD because past sophomore year it’s 100% electives and there’s more classes oriented towards technical drawing and painting skill, concept, story, and communication for client work in a very all of which funnel rather neatly into commercial animation. It’s also a good route for exploring your options like if you’re stuck between wanting to do children’s books, TCG paintings, and comic books you can explore all those at more or less the same time. The downside to this is that in order to get what you want you really have to build your own curriculum. I definitely think it rewards the proactive.

So while nothing at RISD got me to build an animation portfolio I took a lot of classes that I think were fundamental to developing those skills. Ie I did actually take a storyboarding elective, painting classes that focused on color, illustration concepts classes that formed critical thinking and seeing, a sculpting class that trained anatomy and 3d construction skills, Barbara Meier teaches a 3D animation class at Brown that RISD students can cross-enroll at that’s pretty good? None of these are substitutes for a holistic animation curriculum but I think the education I did get was a lot broader and just as personally fulfilling. At the end of the day, I'm glad I wasn't so focused on animation that I was still able to explore illustration, comics, painting and sculpture. I led a student club that coordinated Brown and RISD students to work together and make video games every semester! I take the skills I picked up from these things into my animation career all the time.

Also the nice thing about animation jobs in the U.S. is that you don’t actually need to have animated a whole kickass industry-standard short film to be hireable. The pipeline is so compartmentalized and jobs so specialized that bg designers really just need to be good at environmental perspective and linework, and bg painters don’t even need to worry about that they can just be good at color and light. And almost no one at least in the U.S. animation industry actually needs to know how to animate LOL. Am I being reductive? Am I downing a heavy dose of copium for going to the school that I did? Who knows. Midway through my freshman year I was seriously considering transferring to a school with a better animation curriculum but I never completed those applications because I took a class during the winter semester called Science-Fiction Fantasy Illustration and midway between designing shitty aliens and my new best friends falling asleep on me during a 2001 Space Odyssey screening I was like. This isn’t so bad. Anyways, it turned out ok, we all have jobs now. 

All that aside, Providence is a beautiful little city. There’s an arts and alternative culture there that feels completely different from those in places like NYC and LA. Chris Van Allsburg the writer/illustrator of Jumanji and The Polar Express was a RISD illustration alum and he based a lot of the imagery of Santa's Village off of Providence. What's your art journey? How did you learn it and get to where you are now?

Ooh art! Okok so I started sketching when I wasssss six or seven? I mostly drew dragons. Dragons sitting on flowers, dragons in caves, dragons brutally murdering each other, the normal stuff a small child should draw. When I was about 11, I started drawing people. Characters for the books I was writing. I also started drawing dragons better(tracing out of the Wings of Fire books). Pretty much all of my begining art skills came from tracing. I never took an art class or watched tutorials on YouTube. At about 15, I was drawing people more than animals, and I started doing some vague angsty comics(I was fully in angsty depresso emo teen phase). A lot of my art then was either angst with my characters, or abstract representations of my emotions. I was also obsessed with Marvel so I was drawing weird fanfic crossovers between Marvel and my charries. I was also doing a ton of tracing out of 'how to draw manga' books, which was kinda what solidified bits of my style. After that, I started sketching every day. I drew scenes, characters, and attempted doing comics in notebooks. I started experimenting with digital art around the end of 2019, mostly scanning stuff in from my sketchbook, then coloring it in with an airbrush tool. After that it was more tracing, more improvising, and more chaos in general. I was drawing pretty much 24/7. In 2020, I started focusing more on comics. I actually spent two years drawing a comic scene in a lined notebook. I took that think with me e v e r y w h e r e, and actually had to safetypin the cover, the back, and the first several pages back into the notebook because it was so worn. Begining of 2023 I started college, and took my first art classes, a watercolor class and an oil painting class. I also started working on Recalled, and since then, that has been my primary art focus. Pretty much my whole art journey has been a mess of tracing, staring at references, hyperfixation, and emotion dumping, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. My art is my passion and my dream, and I love sharing it with people!

Currently working on: I have so many fucking WIPs it's not even funny. I would like to finish this final Nope fanfic, and I have some ideas about a Durgetash fic. (I mostly just want to write Gortash and my own Dark Urge, indulge myself a little) I dunno, I just want to write something...

As for art, I'm procrastinating, but I'm finally inking my Zecret Santa piece.

oh the inherent autistic4autistic romance of harold and maude (1971). im gonna lose my mind

they. i. omg. look i've seen this movie 3 times and it always gets better. it's very good i love it dearly. im not sure what this post is im just gonna talk about them being autistic that's all.

sensory stuff (sensory seeking, in particular):

maude's scent machine (to "give her nose a treat"!!), harold's enjoyment of it

her "switch to the tactile" via things like statues, her encouragement to explore it in a variety of ways, which harold does in some unconventional ways, i.e. sticking his head in lol

when replanting the tree maude mentions a love of dirt for sensory reasons (i believe it's the way it feels but it might be the smell)

that scene where harold's like ooh the day's so nice i feel like somersaulting and she's like yeah!! go do it!! and he's like but id feel stupid and she's like everyone has a right to make an ass of themselves. and then he somersaults. very neurodivergent friend group of them that kind of enabling is literally me and my friends

in the above scene, maude declines harold's offer of a cartwheel and says she feels like yelling, then does so. vocal stim

maude's breath of fire morning routine could also be a vocal stim

arguably maude's fascination with art and them watching the fireworks and model trains could be visual stims, but that's a bit more of a stretch. still.

maude's clutter could also be kind of a visual stim. i like visual clutter for that reason; perhaps she doesn't mind it in her home

maude's focus on music and making sound, something she passes to harold via the banjo, singing (even if imperfectly), etc

they dance :) (harold's dance at the end particularly feels like stimming to me)

harold sitting upside down on the therapist's chair

harold's morning-after bubble blowing could be visual

maude likes stealing different kinds of cars for the variety. this, combined with how she comments on how harold's hearse drives, makes me wonder if it's a vertebral/proprioceptive kinda thing where she likes feeling the cars move differently, like the different leans to their turns and how they start and stop, things like that (mecore)

communication/self expression:

harold expresses himself through faking his death in a variety of gruesome and creative ways

harold drives a hearse!! and he likes it. even as his wardrobe moves from black and he stops going to funerals it's the one thing he holds onto

harold's affect is relatively flat. his smiles are pretty small and rare and he almost never raises his voice

harold makes little to no effort to hold conversation with others besides maude outside of performances (i.e. faking maude's death with uncle victor). a lot of this is because he detests the situations he's in (i.e. the dating service calls or speaking to the motorcycle cop), but even when speaking could theoretically add to the performance, he chooses not to, instead silently showing what he needs to, i.e. in the harakiri scene. in short, mecore

maude infodumps and overshares and i love her. it matches well with harold's relative quiet. like when she's walking to her house after harold drives her home for the first time and she talks about her friend who gave her the keys and tricks to car theft? unnecessary. but wonderful

not sure how to explain this one but when harold begins to cry when telling the chem lab story, maude doesn't say anything like, "im sorry, that sounds really hard", but instead talks about people backing away from life, and does her "give me an L give me an I" L-I-V-E cheer. it's not a typical response, but it's one that resonates with harold (not that saying the former can't be an autism vibe bc i for sure rely on scripts in situations like that Because they're unfamiliar, but it depends person to person yk)

harold falls in love and plans on proposing within a week, potentially suggesting very strong experiences of emotions

i mean. the whole movie is maude being like get weird be authentic explore and love life and then them being weird. unmasking journey starts NOW!!!!

harold knows that the only way to get people to leave him alone is to scare them away, or to make them think he's a lost cause that they can't make "more normal". he tends to do this instead of talking. obv faking his deaths, but also faking maude's murder, showing his mother maude's photo instead of explaining beyond exactly what's needed, torching the car his mother exchanged the hearse for, etc. he knows he won't be accepted and uses his weirdguy vibe to his advantage bc he knows they think he's weird anyway. and also because he doesn't want to talk much in general

when confronted by a cop about stealing a car she's like yeah i took it. and this tree. she doesn't bother lying bc she doesn't see a problem with it and/or because she isn't afraid of the cop

when harold goes to tell his mother that he's planning to marry maude he interrupts her even though she's on the phone multiple times because he Has To Tell Her Now

harold sending the hearse off the cliff at the end as a symbolic but ultimately useless gesture is another silent death he expresses himself with, but one he is rebirthed from

interests/beliefs:

harold's interest in death and destruction are kinda his only hobbies for a while, and are ones that keep him isolated

they go to strangers' funerals for shits. enough said (they also freely admit to not knowing the deceased like they do not care)

maude chooses to end her life at 80. she has a very positive, loving view of death in relation to life and change, and does not see this as sad, nor does she consider her relationship with harold as a reason to stay longer. she's made that decision, and he's just one beautiful component of an endlessly beautiful world she's leaving behind. her perspective is not common, but it's something that drives her throughout the movie, that search for life and whimsy

the romance itself is unusual, but the only ones who question it are outsiders. they both seem unphased by the age gap. the taboo doesn't matter to them at any stage

maude's past of protest could suggest a strong sense of justice, and her disregard of law could suggest an "im not gonna follow this rule if it's not right/doesn't make sense" attitude (she also explicitly ties her unorthodox behavior to her protest experience, saying it's her own, small form of resistance. just against social norms generally)

harold's rejection of normal social conventions i.e. dating, hanging out at funerals/demolition sites, etc. as well as his disdain for the military (particularly the way it manifests when he's tricking victor into not enlisting him by pretending to be bloodthirsty and screaming at maude that she's a commie pig, reflecting how he sees victor/those like him) show a kind of disregard of/distaste for hierarchy and norm (though he does feel those pressures to mask, as shown by the somersaulting conversation)

maude brings a yellow umbrella to a funeral, not even trying to blend in or seem mournful (her use of color is tied to how live flowers are used at funerals rather than dead ones. it's another joy and life thing. this logic of "i don't get why everyone does this. why should i not celebrate life here/in this way?" is straightforward and unaffected by/in spite of norms but IS affected by/because of her world view in a way that's real autistic to me)

misc

maude collects stuff

maude shows an unusual amount of empathy for the tree in town and moves to rescue it. this may be contrasted with her flippantness about the trouble her car stealing may cause people to show both an unusual amount of empathy for inanimate objects/non human beings and low empathy for humans

something so so very autistic to me about harold blowing up the chemistry lab at his boarding school and just. going home. jdjhsksg he didn't tell anyone he just went to bed im--

when maude says all the daisies are different she mentions all kinds of subtle details, which could indicate a higher level of observation than average

maude shows almost no sense of danger or fear. whether she's being questioned by cops in a stolen vehicle or telling her new lover she's poisoned herself, she seems carefree. that could be because of how much horror she's faced, or because of her knowledge that it'll end soon and she won't have to deal with the consequences for long. but it could also be autism

harold has a similar unusual relationship with fear. he's totally fine with the stunts that could easily go wrong and with maude falling into the ocean and with mixing random chemicals in a lab for shits but when it comes to other people putting him in situations he's upset

harold has no friends and is misunderstood and made to change to become more "normal" by everyone except for maude

just. the themes of societal oppression by demanding conformity. and resisting it by living authentically. they're Everywhere in this movie and that's inherently coded towards all kinds of marginalization, neurodivergency included (one way i haven't mentioned that this appears is in the implication that maude is a nazi concentration camp survivor, as evidenced by the numbers tattooed on her wrist. obviously, fascism and eugenics are heavily invested in removing difference, whatever it may be. nazis did focus on autism somewhat (hans asperger was a nazi doctor, after all), so that could be a sort of autistic coding, though it is (understandably) generally not used as such because they were not nearly as much of a focus to them. such coding is much more often for jewish people for that reason. it's more likely that she is/was jewish, or frederick was, or she helped others who were victimized, or resisted, etc. anyway, her drive to live fully regardless of convention could be related to seeing so much death and suffering firsthand, or to a complete rejection of the ideology that brought it and anything that resembles it. it seems influenced by that, at least.)

tl;dr harold and maude is about rejecting small talk and dating and the government and instead smelling things and rolling around in the grass and loving completely life and living weirdstyle. plus they both give me Vibes. that's all go watch harold and maude

Asks Compilation 22/06

Ooh, my first Time assignment! And Prince is an interesting class. Sounds like a ‘commander’ class, that tends to get assigned to leaders.

As always, I await the eventual Classpect exposition with bated breath.

I was originally reluctant to do this because I didn’t really have a schedule, so I wasn’t sure how to define a reading session. I’m going to try and post a little more consistently going forward (no promises), so I’ll try and implement this starting next session!

CORE is one of my favorite tracks in the Undertale OST, and I’m predisposed to like anything that riffs off it. You can really hear the Homestuck vibes in this beta, but I don’t think it really matches the LOWAS aesthetic - I could see a reworked version of it in an ‘endgame’ LOWAS region, though, like the Denizen’s Lair.

We don’t know why or how the kids picked their colors, but I headcanon that this was an intentional decision on Jade’s part, to show her love to the Best Friend. 

Bec and Jade have a simple relationship, but he clearly cares about her in his own way. As a dog, he presumably sees her as part of her ‘pack’, and the Halley genes probably help, too. 

It’s notable that Bec is the only Guardian who didn’t actually fight their charge in their strife animation - he just passively watches her, only (harmlessly) teleporting them when she starts shooting. 

Just like Mr Tulip. Gamzee’s already eating the equivalent of sleeping pills recreationally, and I really don’t think trolls do interventions. 

I’m stating to think the Medium was probably good for Gamzee - at least he’ll be around friends, right?

The night was dark, but assassins thrived in the dark. Evie, ever the believer in all things ghosts and things that went bump in the night, rested, perched, atop the roof of the chapel. The modest cemetery was restless, with a constant flocking of birds and mice and creatures, wandering about the usually quiet area.

But on Hallow's Eve...

"Psst."

Evie jumped slightly and whipped around, dagger dropping into her hand. Her brother raised his hands, springing back. "Okay! Okay. Evie. It's me. Jacob."

"I'll kill you for real if you do that again!" She spun the knife and dropped it back into the sheath.

Jacob held up his hands, a small grin emerging on his face. "Aw. Is Ickle Evie-kins frightened of ghosties?"

Evie glowered and turned to the graveyard again, which had fallen oddly silent. The grey hues were getting darker with the clouds masking the moon, and even the owls had hushed themselves. "Mister Green mentioned that bodies are walking." She managed. The words bit her throat and she felt her brother squat next to her. "Graves- fresh ones- empty within the night."

"Oh. Walking corpses." Jacob plunked down, a leg dangling off the roof. "My favorite."

Evie inhaled heavily and stared over the graveyard. Under the dirt was rows of corpses, all sleeping firever- waiting for judgement day or whatever afterlife met them at the end. "Not walking, just... Leaving. Gone. Unearthed."

Her brother's laugh was taunting as he spoke. "Ooh. Ya know, I think you've been reading one two many books-"

"Jacob."

Her brother raised his hands in a fake surrender, chuckling. Evie turned back to the graveyard, eyes skimming the scene again. The trees groaned with the wind- Evie thought of the dead raising. Climbing from their graves in their finest garments, dust and the stench of death still clinging to them as they stumbled from their eternal beds, lumbering towards the gate, groaning and trying to churn out words as if their tongues had not decayed long ago.

Evie shuddered. Perhaps she had been reading too many books.

Her brother exhaled into his hands, rubbing his gloved fingers together. "Logically, I understand it does not make sense. But you must admit, it is rather strange that everything suggests that the graves are being dug up."

"Lots of reasons for that." Jacob said.

Silence hung from the moon and starkly between them, and Evie slowly looked at her brother. "Why would you dig up a grave."

"Donno. Seems fun."

"Fun?"

Jacob shrugged again, the grin only vaugely visible due to Evie's sharp vision. "Yes, seems fun. Should I ever consider a change in profession, I shall have to consider grave robbing."

Evie rolled her eyes and crouched down again, pausing as she heard a creaking. "Jacob." She whispered.

Her brother understood. His remarks hushed and he crouched down atop the little chapel, watching as flames flickered on the torches entering the graveyard. Evie swallowed her relief as the resurrection men paused at each grave, a shovel thrown over each shoulder, examining the grass growth, finding graves that were fresh.

"It seems we have our answer, dear sister." Jacob whispered, smiling. "No dead raising, after all."

Evie nodded, watching the men shove the dirt aside. "Just stealing corpses."

"Freddy said." Jacob replied, and only shrugged as the men struggled, raising the body from the grave, pressing it into their wheelbarrow. He nudged Evie, arms crossed, the grin alight on his face as Evie snorted. "Dead men tell no tales, and the dead don't walk in Londo-"

Two arms reached up from the cart, arms that should have been very still, and yanked the now screaming graverobber down, a gargling emerging as the corpse bit into very living and very warm flesh.

what inspired me to start a whump blog...

ooh I'm trying to remember honestly. I think I got into whump and then felt a bit odd posting it on my main so made a sideblog, and then decided to post fic on it later on. I'd been posting whumpy/angsty fic on ao3 for longer than I knew whump was a thing, but finding the community on tumblr has been fab. I havent written much at al in recent months/years, but I do take a lil quiet pride in keeping the blog updating regularly and trying to seek out new and "undiscovered" whump art and media to reblog for folks, alongside the popular stuff! but mostly it's just fun and I'm glad I did start it!

so I answered this one in my last ask response. just trying to think if I missed any tropes... the hidden injury trope is of course a great one. oh I love 'enemy turning up at the door wounded'. honestly I tried pretty much every trope and I think it just depends on tone and vibe for me. I'm definitely more interested in the care taking side of whump though, the recovery process rather than the whumper/torture side, though I sure enjoy a good, whumpy gif!

ooh I love stoic and proud whumpees best I think, as much as I love a good pathetic cat of a whumpee too! but I'll read any, "broken" whumpees, defiant whumpee, suspicious whumpee, whumpee who pretends to be obedient and is biding their time... I love a good trope, and I also love when that is subverted *shrugs* not too picky with my whumpees!

though that said, i do have a preference for male or non binary whumpees, female ones can hit a squick for me sometimes, though I did enjoy Haro whump's group whumpees, which had female whumpees included!

fav type of caretaker...

oooh, I like most of them really!!! caretaker that's trying really hard, caretaker that wants to help but can't (like villain's sidekick or a prison guard), fellow whumpee caretakers, gruff caretakers and soft ones, astute caretakers and oblivious ones... all depends on how they're written really! I'm not usually the biggest fan of reluctant caretakers, or carewhumpers or whumpers turned into caretakers... that doesnt sit the best with me for some reason. but I do love caretakers who fuck up and say the wrong thing, or have to punish the whumpee in public, or misunderstand things or whatever. even morally dubious caretakers can be fun depending on the vibe. I dont think I'm too fussy rly!

how did I discover whumplr...

uhhh yeah, I cant remember!! I'm terrible at remembering how things began, like how I first met friends or when i started watching a show , I'm sorry! I remember I first discovered a 'Boys in Discomfort' type collection of artwork and stories on DeviantArt, I read fics and followed artists on there for a good while. I may have found tumblr through Ao3, that's possible, not sure how long it took to go from my main tumblr blog to having a whump one... sorry this is a bad answer but I really dont remember! but I'm glad I did find it! met some great folks on here and read/seen some amazing work :)

-Lol, awfully hard to take the name "Sigma" seriously nowadays. He kind of looks like the Utawarerumono dude

-Engrish strikes again! Sigma has an attack mode called "Masks square." Very difficult to decipher what they were going for with that one...

-Very lucky that the "Gabo" pun worked in Japanese and English. I really admire these clever translation moments ("Gabby" in English "ga-ga-" in Japanese).

-Pretty weird to see a Piemon with a human partner after seeing him as the big bad in the anime. Especially weird since he looks like an adult man being commanded by a kid...

-Not sure I follow what Sigma/Alias III's scheme is here, but it's probably generic anyway (like world domination/power/etc.)

Ch. 26

-In this chapter they explain what "chat" is and how addictive it can be. Awww, the baby internet era. They had no idea what was ahead.

-Typical incel dude, experiences rejection once and then spirals and joins a cult. Glad they hinted that he's capable of changing in the end.

-The art style in this manga kind of reminds me of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. (Mostly the eyes and big heads).

Ch. 27

-Onto the next Alias, Mari and Rosemon! Rosemon kinda looks like the LadyDevimon to Lilymon. I like both new characters' designs. Their stupid antics were funny too.

-RIP to Sigma's Piemon :'( that was pretty brutal. Arkadimon was creepy looking

-Neo's army looks OP AF. He even has a Venom Vamdemon!

-I was a bit disappointed to find out that Mari's dumbness was an act :'( that was what made her likable tho...

-That was interesting when Leomon was like "what about me?" when his students were like "don't worry! Zero will save us." Sorry buddy, you're not the main character...

Omake - Double Tamer!! The Great Super-dimensional Battle!!

-Ooh, an extra long cross-over special. I love gimmicky stuff like this :)

-The mangaka explaining that the concept of parallel worlds is like a cheat code that let's you get away with a lot from a story-telling perspective was pretty funny.

-Don't really like how the mangaka were blushing over Hikari in bloomers...>>

-Parallelmon's powers remind me of America from the newest Doctor Strange movie. It's a fun concept. Interesting that they described him as "cool-headed." I guess he's kind of a neutral force?

-The fact that Taichi and Daisuke are both 11 but one of them was born in 1988 and one was born in 1991 kinda hurts my brain. I guess this implies that parallel worlds can also exist at a different point in time?? I thought "parallel" usually implied the same time but different versions of everything, no? Weird...

-They acknowledged the fact that digivolution works differently in Daisuke's world which was nice to see. Really shows the difference in mediums (since they probably keep the digimon in their rookie forms in the anime for ease of animation).

-Lol classic big Digimon boss battle, Daisuke's friends all get sucked into a void and the only way out is the power of friendship. How many times are they going to use that...?

-Kinda bugs me how Daisuke is so focused on the "fake Taichi" but barely acknowledges the fact that this Taichi has a completely different partner. (lol @ Taichi having an existential moment when Daisuke calls him fake).

-I don't really get how the digimental of miracles works...the other tamers "sent" it to Taichi, but I thought he already had that? What is it single-use or something?? (My memory for 02 is already fading, but I feel like Magnamon didn't make a ton of appearances.

That was fun, I think I would have liked to see characters other than just Taichi and Daisuke interact. Taichi and Daisuke are juuust different enough, but they're still both kinda generic shounen protags, so there's only so much you can do with this crossover. I guess this manga was released much later than I thought? The mangaka referenced Tamers in this omake too. I kinda assumed that this manga was pre-season 1 for some reason.
