Opus Era Omega

hey slav! im relatively new to the 'fandom' [god i fucking hate that word] and could you maybe explain the different eras of ghoul costumes? they're really confusing. thanks!
With pleasure!
Opus Eponymous (2010 - 2012)
The very first ghoul costumes were modest, to say the least. Unlike the Papa costume, which was custom-made specifically for Papa by a local seamstress in Linköping, the first ghoul outfits were store-bought monk costumes from Buttericks, a Swedish fancy dress shop. Only the grucifixes were custom made, based on a design by TF. These costumes were used early on in the band's life in 2010.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With 2011 came more funds and more possibilities, therefore the costumes got an upgrade. At some point Omega earned his elemental symbol (aether), which was the first time the band used them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the summer of 2012, Papa and the ghouls debuted their new, white outfits whose purpose was basically surviving the heat of summer festivals. The reactions to the new look were… lukewarm. It was the only time the band wore bright colors and also the first time that the ghouls wore masks other than a simple cloth covering their faces.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Infestissumam (2013 - 2014)
New Papa, new ghouls. Kind of. In the Infestissumam era, all ghouls earned their elemental symbols and fans began using them as their names. They are wearing Venetian masks called the "bauta", similar to the white ones above. The stage attire did not change much throughout the duration of the era. Much of the vision for the design came from Omega.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meliora (2015 - 2017)
2015 was a year of total costume revolution both for Papa and the ghouls. The horned masks made their first appearance - probably the most iconic of all masks thus far. Also, pants. Once again Omega was responsible for much of the design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prequelle (2018 - 2020)
In 2018, the band grew. Added were new stage musicians responsible for not only instruments, but also backing vocals - as such, the masks needed to be amended to allow them to sing. Costumes became much, erm, tighter - and, surprisingly, that is not without reason. To quote Tobias: "At first, our image was a bit clumsy, but when I noticed [that carnality plays a big part in our performances], I came up with some new ideas, such as that everyone should wear pants and move around the stage more. I’ve put more emphasis on carnality." Welp, there you have it. All stage attire was designed by Bea Akerlund.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Prequelle came also masks made for the female ghouls. While the Prequelle ghoulettes were not the first women to play in the band, they were the first to receive custom masks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Impera (2022 - ?)
Those who were here on the fateful day of January 20, 2022 when the first photos of the new ghouls appeared online may remember the utter, total chaos that ensued. A lot of people simply could not believe that these were the new ghouls and tried to justify it any way they could. But as with many things, most simply needed time to grow accustomed to the new look. The costumes were designed once again by Bea Akerlund and the masks by a Ukrainian artist Bob Basset (responsible also for Papa's amazing bat wings). According to Tobias, the inspiration were Tusken Riders from Star Wars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Worth noting is that the ghouls have capes - unfortunately, they quickly proved to be too uncomfortable to be worn on stage, so a few ghouls have ditched them.
Tumblr media
And that's the costume story so far. Thanks for reading!

I’m not aloud to put this on ao3 so I’m putting it here..
Me absolutely horrendously trying to understand ghost timelines! If I messed anything up I greatly apologize.. anyhow!! Bellow the cut !!
The Era
There’s four Eras currently, Opus Eponymous, Infestissuman, Meliora, Prequelle.
Opus Eponymous- 2010-2013
Infestissuman-2013-2015
Meliora-2015-2018
Prequelle-2018-2020
Impera-2022-2023
- impera was the last Era we had. The more popular one.
The Ghouls
Water ghouls- Bass
Chain- The first Water Ghoul
who got his name because he wore a chain around the waist. He played from 2010 to 2011, the first half of the Opus Eponymus era.
Lake- the Ghoul with the back eyes! Our second Water Ghoul played from 2011 to 2013, during the end of Opus Eponymus and through most of the Infestissumam era.
River- River, the 3rd Water Ghoul played from 2013 to 2014 during the end of the Infestissumam era.
Delta- Delta was the 4th Water Ghoul. He played for a short time during the Meliora era in 2015 before he switched to Rhythm Guitar.
Mist- The first female ghoul!! Other wise known as a ghoulette, she played for 3 months in 2016!
^^ to see videos of those ghouls above is less common most the time it will be Dewdrop and Rain
Dewdrop/Sodo- Dewdrop was the 6th Water Ghoul. He played at the end of the Meliora era, from 2017 to 2018.
Rain- the 7th Water Ghoul and Ghosts Bassist since Prequelle, 2018.
Air ghouls!- Keyboard/Keytar
So the first air ghoul was just called “First Air” I can’t find any other name for him. He was from 2010-2016
Zephyr/chAir- He was the second Air ghoul, playing in the band start of the Meliora and that was the only Era he was there for 2016-2018
Cumulus & Cirius- Our current Air ghoulettes! They joined both in 2018 and are still the air ghouls we have!
Fire Ghouls- Lead Guitar
Alpha- He was the first fire ghoul, he started in 2010 and was the fire ghoul until 2016, he was there for 3 Eras.
Ifrit- The Second Fire Ghoul, Ifrit was in the band for a year and only played for half of the third Era.
Dewdrop/Sodo- Dewdrop went from being the water ghoul to replacing Ifrit. He played in the last era, and is still our current fire ghoul.
Aether/Quintessence- Rhythm Guitar
Omega- The first ghoul, in case you haven’t seen the pattern he also played from 2010-2016, for the most part a lot of the first ghouls stayed in that time frame. Water really was the only one that got so many new ghouls.
Delta- Delta! He swapped from water to quint, he played for a very small time in 2016 before he left the band.
Aether- Aether played from 2016-2023, A lot of the videos you’ll see will be of him or the newest quint ghoul Phantom, Aether left the band due to the fact that he was called to play with another band whom lost a band mate and never came back.
Phantom- he’s our newest quint ghoul, 2023-currently. You’ll see him a lot in videos as well, since he’s the newest and a lot of people got videos on the last tour.
Earth- Drums
Earth- The first Earth ghoul!!! Wowwww! He was in the band again from 2010-2014. Little less than the others but it’s whatever.
Pebble- if you haven’t guess Pebble was the second drummer, Tiny tiny man. Was in the band from 2014-2016
Ivy- only played for around 2 months in 2017 starting in March ending in May
Mountain- MOUNTAIN!!! I love him, anyhow, he’s our current earth ghoul so he’s been in the band since 2017-2023/currently
Non-element/Multi Ghouls
Special Ghoul- This was a ghoul we would see only in the old interviews, this ghoul was played by Tobias Forge. The papa/creator of the band.
Cowbell ghoul- Cowbell was there for the ‘entire’ Meliora Era, leaving right before 2018 when it came to an end.
Sunshine- She joined the band in 2022 and was only there for a short time leaving in 2023 due to having other stuff she was doing.
Swiss- 2018-2023/current. Swiss is a multi ghoul. He does vocals, plays the guitar, and the tambourine. He’s normally seen on his ‘stage of shame’ or you’ll see videos of him interacting with other ghouls.
Aurora- She joined the band in 2023 for the last tour they just had, she does backup vocals and is seen with Swiss a lot.
The person behind each Ghoul
Although the ghouls are supposed to be unknown people have found the identities of them. So if you’re wondering who’s behind all the masks this is the answer.
Chain- Gustaf Lindstörm
Lake- Rikard Ottoson
River- Linton Rubino
Delta- Henrik Palm
Mist- Megan Thomas
Dewdrop/Sodo- Per Eriksson
Rain- Cosmo Sylvan
“First Air”- Mauro Rubino
Zephyr- Zac Baird
Cumulus- Mad Gallica
Cirius- Laura Scarborough
Alpha- Simon Söderberg
Ifrit- Ben Cristo
Omega- Martin Persner
Aether- Chris Catalyst
Phantom- Randy Moore
Earth- Aksel Holmgren
Pebble- Martin Hjertstedt
Mountain- Hayden Scott
Special ghoul- Tobias Forge
Cowbell- Neils Neilsen
Swiss- Justin “Jutty” Taylor
Sunshine- Sophie Amelkin
Aurora- Olivia Morreale (Princess Liv)
Ivy- Jan-Vincent Velazco

I've never really bothered to differentiate between the ghouls and all the Opus, Infestissumam and Meliora (and even Prequelle) ghouls still look like Omega to me tbh (not to mention there was no Omega during Prequelle).
But the Impera ghouls became perfectly distinguishable to me after some time. It was like one day I didn't recognize any of them but then BOOM and suddenly I could tell them apart just fine. No idea why it doesn't work for all the previous eras btw

The Band Ghost X Jujutsu Kaisen
I'm sure only a limited number of persons will understand this, but here we go.
"Are you Mr. Ghost because you are Tobias Forge, or are you Tobias Forge because you are Mr. Ghost?"
"Ah, yes, my anti-Nu metal guitar riff that I haven't used since Opus era".
The cursed potato to Cardinal Copia: "I am you".
Papa: "Nah, I'd sing." *Proceeds to fall off the stage*
(After the American Music Awards) "Stand proud, Coldplay. You are strong".
"With this kazoo I summon... The lightbringer, Papa Emeritus III!"
The quintessence ghoul cannot adapt to the horrendous sound of the kazoo.
"You were magnificent, Omega. I won't forget you for as long as I live."
"This new single has the potential to rival Cirice!"
Domain expansion - Mummy Dust canon: Unlimited confetti.
Always bet on Meliora.

Random nameless ghoul headcanons because I say so pt.2
Cumulus: To start off strong with one of our lovable wholesome queens, she often is found with at least one other ghoul cuddled up next to her, she never minds giving love to someone. Like many air ghouls/ghoulettes her hair is much like a cloud, her hair specifically being fluffier, and cotton-like. Took up knitting and crocheting during era 4 and kept leaning; now everyone has at least one thing hand made from Cumulus. Wears fluffy socks around the den just to zap some poor soul. Cirrus: *Mummy Dust intensifies* Cirrus absolutely loves playing with the other ghouls on stage. Got major confident boosters whenever she got to do her keytar solos. Back to the topic of air ghouls and hair, Cirrus' hair is more flowing and has so many layers that when she curls her hair, it curls the individual layers and looks ethereal. Main ghoul that braids Sodo's hair. Definitely goes on hikes with Mountain. Aurora: Totally gossips with Sodo while painting his nails. Does not give a fuck and walks around in her sports bra just cause. Leaves little doodles on any piece of paper she gets her hands on. Found a racoon almost immediately after coming topside, mistook it for a cat, now it lives in the den (his name is Thunder cause he always makes a mess, normally followed by a crash) ~Extra~ Sunshine:
Had the poofiest, fluffiest, most luxurious hair ever. Hides things inside of it (forgets she even put something in her hair and its left there till she showers) Her hair had a sunset yellow to red gradient. Sunshine had, and still has a collection of books stolen from the den's bookshelves. This sweet pea loves to bake. Personally made cakes for everyone's birthday. Era 2: Your didn't hear this from me, but Special ghoul was Terzo's kazoo dealer, don't tell Secondo! He did it solely to piss Secondo off but didn't want to do it himself. Alpha and Omega had catfights whenever they got too bored. Earth had a vinyl collection that was well in the hundreds. Air was a total deva off stage and had to do his nightly routine or else everyone suffered. Black eyed ghoul had really bad iron deficiency, this caused his sclera and iris to turn black. Water ghoul was a huge horror movie nerd and watched every weekend (same bro) Era 1: Omega made his sunburst design on his guitar himself, was very proud of it. Opus Eponymous was also where Alpha and Omega's little "sibling rivalry" began. Chain's cloak didn't fit him so he had to compromise with the closest thing near him at the time, that being his chain. Earth didn't really mind the whole mask idea but hated the way their masks looked (when he eventually saw the era 3-5 masks he was very jealous) But you know who did really hate having to wear the masks? Air. Air especially hated the masks in summer. And last but not least for Era 1, Water. Water used to tag every place the band played at. (Era 1 was still pretty underground at this point, so no big stadiums or anything like that.) Cowbell ghoul: So, I realized I forgot this chaotic bean last post, so now he gets his own section. Cowbell really did bring that damn cowbell everywhere. Even if it was not visible, it was there. In a bag or maybe under a seat. Could've been hidden in a pile of clothes for all he cared. Had many back-ups. The only reason he got the chance to do his little cowbell thing was cause he had some dirt on Terzo and basically blackmailed his way on stage. What was it? We'll never know.

EPICA Launches Online 'Universe'
For their 20th band anniversary in 2022, Dutch symphonic metal titans EPICA have prepared a massive celebration from January to December, with plenty of surprises, new projects and of course some new music too that will all be revealed throughout the year.
After announcing plans to re-release their first three albums, the now-classic "The Phantom Agony", "Consign To Oblivion" and "The Score 2.0" via Nuclear Blast, on CD, vinyl, as well as strictly limited earbooks and boxsets later this year, EPICA has started the year with launching its own "universe."
"We truly feel like there's a universe within the band, a world of our own, and we want to invite our lifeblood to be citizens — Epicans, if you will," the band explains. "Think of it as a sequel to past EPICA fan clubs like 'The Fantom Agony' and 'The French Crusade' but updated for the modern era; it's more fan community than club. Epica Universe will give Epicans insight into our lives, both personal and professional, through exclusive behind-the-scenes photos, podcasts, polls, vlogs, live hangouts and much more. There's even a (super limited) tier that includes one-on-one video calls with a band member each month!"
Join the Epica Universe at www.epicauniverse.com.
Get a first glimpse of what to expect via a trailer below presented by the whole band.
And what would a 20th anniversary be without a proper celebration live and in full color? The massive anniversary show will take place on September 3, 2022 at the same venue as EPICA played their first show back in the day, supporting ANATHEMA: the 013 in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
EPICA was formed by composer Mark Jansen after leaving AFTER FOREVER in 2002, and the band quickly gained attention outside their home country, taking big steps towards becoming the leading symphonic metal superpower they have long proven to be. After their ambitious debut "The Phantom Agony" (2002) and the surprisingly eclectic sophomore work "Consign To Oblivion" (2005), the road took them to new heights via their first concept masterpiece "The Divine Conspiracy" (2007) and their global breakthrough "Design Your Universe" (2009). 2012's opus "Requiem For The Indifferent", 2014's bedazzling "The Quantum Enigma" and their finest, most embellished effort yet, "The Holographic Principle" (2016), cemented their reputation as not only one of the hardest-working metal bands in the business but also as one of the best. Period. With "Omega", the final part of the metaphysical trilogy they began with "The Quantum Enigma", they reclaim the throne without so much as the blink of an eye, amassing three million-plus streams during the first week of the album's release.
"Omega" is an album of unity, of friendship, of the close bond the members share. An album that naturally came together as a group effort. And no wonder: Mark Jansen, Simone Simons and keyboard player Coen Janssen have been playing together since EPICA's conception in 2002, with drummer Ariën Van Weesenbeek joining as early as 2007, lead guitarist Isaac Delahaye following in 2009. In 2012, bass player Rob Van Der Loo marked the latest addition to their ranks. For eight years, three records and hundreds of gigs, this band has formed an indestructible unit.
In the middle of a world in turmoil, of a cataclysmic change in society, EPICA somehow managed to create their most spectacular album yet. An album that is seamlessly bringing together metal and orchestra, choir and oriental instruments to a perfect storm constantly emitting goose bumps. A record with specifically written suites for orchestra and choir, featuring a wide range of ethnic instruments recorded around the world by some of the best native musicians out there. In short: They outdid themselves. Once again. And still managed to keep the songs approachable and wickedly catchy.
Since forming in 2002, the band has amassed an incredible amount of success, "Omega" entered the album Top 10 in Germany, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland. EPICA has toured the globe, performing at venerable festivals including Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, Heaven & Hell festival, Heavy MTL and Download, while also staging shows in countries where many metal bands have not played including South Korea, South Africa and Venezuela.

Note
A ghoulette went up to The Third and bowed at him. “Hello, Papa. How are you today?” She asked the anti-pope with a soft smile. “Have you seen Omega or Alpha today?” Her cassock looked like it was from era II as well as her mask. Though, it looked different. Looked like an late Opus mask but painted with a glossy black. The eye shape was oval instead of the regular eye shape for the Infest mask. Her green eyes peered through the eye holes as she looked at The Third in front of her.
Papa smiled down at the ghoulette warmly, though he was a bit taken aback. It wasn’t often anyone approached him for such matters. But he was kinder than his predecessor, and would humor such things. He paused for a moment as he considered her question- actually taking a moment to think.
“If I’m not mistaken,” the anti-pope began, “Omega is out on other work and Alpha... you might find him practicing if not doing errands.”

Here's my opinion..not that anyone cares or asked for it lol...I really like Prequelle. I like every song on it. I didn't expect this at all. It's my least favorite Ghost album and it doesn't sound like Ghost, but I enjoy listening to it. My love for Ghost has been dead since Omega left, but now it's back? I am excited again and want to go their shows :O I don't like the Cardinal or the new ghouls, or the lawsuit thing going on, or my favorite members not being here, but I understand it's a new era and I'm getting used to it and accepting it, and cherishing the memories from the previous eras. I feel like I passed all the 5 stages of grief and now I'm at the last one, acceptance :D I actually like the change in sound. Who knows maybe one day they'll return to the Opus sound? I think I'll always love and support them, in good or bad. Ghost, as a band has done so much for me and I'll never forget that. Well as long as Tobias is doing vocals, because the reason I fell for Ghost is his voice <3 Also I'm thankful for all the side projects of the previous ghouls, like for example MCC coming back to life. That wouldn't have happened if Martin was still in Ghost <3 k tnx bye

You are the first and only writer I have read for this fandom. I love your work so much, I've re read all your Arrow stories twice (even the Firefly one even though I've never watched it). Do you have any favorite Olicity fics to recommend to keep me from going crazy my first hiatus? (I binged the first 4 seasons last year)
This is awesome!! Thank you! I’m super honored. And do I have recs? Oh yes, I have recs.
First rec isn’t actually a fic, it’s a resource… @theolicitylibrary. If you want recs, they’ve got ‘em. If you want a specific trope or rating or genre, they’ve got that, too. Have a hankering for a fic where Oliver and Felicity are business rivals? There’s a link for that. Where she’s the vigilante instead? There’s a link for that, too. Where one of them is a werewolf? Yup. They’re an amazing resource and you can lose days (and weeks and months) going through lists of alpha/omega tropes and rockstar AUs and friends-to-lovers fics.
But more specifically… how about I rec some authors, too? I haven’t been reading much lately - I spend all my time writing - so I’m more comfortable reccing authors I know are amazing and whose works I’m looking forward to catching up on. They’re all consistently excellent. This is by no means an all inclusive list.
@dust2dust34 - My co-writer for FiCoN and personal fav (though I admit to no small amount of bias). If you want smut and you want details and mining a scene for feelings, Bre is your girl. She has plenty of oneshots to choose from as well as some multichapter fics.
@machawicket - Look, I can’t overstate Danielle’s skills as a writer. My husband doesn’t even read my fic but he likes hers. Her writing is funny, sweet, sexy and heartbreaking in turn but it’ll never leave you unsatisfied. She’s a master.
@anthfan - Nikki is one of those writers that’s so good she makes you forget you’re reading a story, because it’s just something you’re living. It’s an experience. Her characterization is spot-on and her plots are super engaging. She writes both one-shots and longer stories. They’re all worth your time.
@hannasus - Susannah’s writing is the perfect balance of detailed exposition and tight narrative that lets you feel like you’ve experienced the whole setting in just a few lines. Add to that fully in-character characterization and interesting plots that keep you reading and you really can’t go wrong. I recommend reading her Something Like Fate series ASAP as she’s adapted it into the basis for an original novel (which she’s publishing later this year) and it may not be up on AO3 a whole lot longer.
@rosietwiggs - I can always tell Rosie’s work in just a few lines. Her narrative voice is so very distinctive and so gripping that it pulls me in effortlessly. I don’t believe she’s writing for Arrow anymore, but even her unfinished works are worth a read. I especially recommend The New Normal, Lengths and How The Mighty Fall In Love.
@supersillyanddorky06 - I’d be surprised if you hadn’t heard around about Matty’s writing because she’s right at the core of the Olicity fandom’s best known fanfics. With good reason. She’s prolific, plotty, smutty and evocative. If you have a weakness for Bratva!Oliver, I’d start here.
@jsevick - I first met Jaimie after reading her Jurassic Park AU (really!) and being both delighted and amazed that she could make it work. I’m extremely lucky to have had her help as my beta pretty much ever since. If you like my writing, she’s a big part of it (along with @alizziebyanyothername). While she hasn’t posted in a while, her stories are just fun and if you like Gilmore Girls, her Arrow AU for Gilmore Girls is a treat!
@realityisoverrated-fic - I have no idea how you would feel about Smoaking Billionaires, Anon (I personally love it), but I’ve got to very highly recommend her Infinite Love series. At 110 parts and counting, it deals extensively with Oliver, Felicity and Tommy’s family longterm, including their kids. It’s alternately hot, sweet, and heartbreaking. But, most of all, it’s just well-written and interesting. If you’re willing to read them as a triad, I cannot recommend this strongly enough.
@geneeste - I would pay for more of Caught a Long Wind. Quite literally. But, that aside, Genie is a top notch writer. Whether her one-shots, WiPs or brilliant, ongoing epic co-written work with @machawicket, everything she writes should be devoured.
@juliesioux - Julie uses the setting in a story as another character. There’s so much life to the world she puts her characters in that it practically breathes. Above that, she doesn’t shy away from hard topics. She will rush in head-first and dig deep to explore what her characters are going through. When you read her work, take her warnings seriously, but if you’re looking for a rich story to read that challenges you, she’s the perfect option to turn to.
@thatmasquedgirl - One of the most prolific Olicity fic authors (with 110 fics, including the absolute opus Technical Assistance). She’s consistently excellent, creative and she gives us as a fandom a whole lot to read. You can probably spent a huge chunk of hiatus happily buried in her work.
@entersomethingcleverhere - As a rule, I do not read first person stories. Not even when they’re published books sitting on shelves at my bookstore. I will break that rule for her writing. I like it that much. It’s heartfelt, moving, well-paced, and the connections between her characters are both real and evolving as you go.
@arrow-through-my-writers-block - Shelby is… well, she’s just fun! She’s a solid writer who never disappoints. She’s got quite a few one-shots and a few ongoing multi-chapters. She’s probably best known for Starstruck, but all of her work is worth reading.
@wagamiller - I just really love wagamiller’s work. Like a lot. There are very few authors I have on alert, but wagamiller is. Stories that make me laugh out loud are few and far between, but the 35B series surely did (as did @machawicket‘s Unbearable Hotness of Being, btw). Strong, sharp, witty writing that will leave you with a grin on your face.
@callistawolf - When I think of Callie’s work, I think of the fanfic version of sitting down with some hot cocoa and curling up with a warm blanket to watch a Hallmark Christmas special. She’s consistently excellent about finishing her work, which is lovely, and you can pretty much always count on a feel-good romantic ending.
@hopedreamlovepray - Writing one-shots that stick with your reader is hard. Keeping a story to 1-2k and still being impactful is even harder. She absolutely manages it every time. Hope27 (as she’s known on AO3, so you can find her) has something like a hundred Olicity fics. These are, in my opinion, absolutely perfect if you want to lose yourself in a story on the train to work or during your lunch hour.
@dettiot - Mel has a lot of great stories (like really great). My favorite is probably the “ink in my pen ran dry” series, but that’s a really tough call. Core Curriculum is super hot. The Felicity Stark series (crossover with Avengers-verse) is brilliant and fun and made me giddy while reading it. Beauty in the Breakdown is excellent. Jerry the EA series features one of the best takes on a relative OC I’ve read in fics. Love is Red made me squeal like a teenager with excitement (I’m not ashamed; it was warranted). And Two Men, Same Name (written with @melsanfo) is one of those that I am absolutely dying for the time to catch up on. While I’m at it, let’s rec Mel Sanfo, too. Her Masquerade is another novel-length fic absolutely worth a read. You really can’t go wrong with either of these ladies.
@ash818 - Ash is freaking awesome. So, here’s the thing. Her Legacy series is mind-blowingly good. I have to admit, I’ve only read The Man Under The Hood in the series (this is intentional, for a reason you’ll see in a moment, but you need to read all of her work ASAP, okay? You do). This series… you’ve got future, married Olicity with teenage children as they continue their mission. There’s action, plot, heartbreak, angst, love, everything you could want. It’s in first person from their son’s perspective which is something I would probably never have clicked on in the first place had it not come highly recommended, but good lord is it amazing. All of her characters have life. All of them have depth. Her OCs are fully formed and vital to the story without overshadowing characters you already know. I haven’t read the later stories because after I decided to continue on with FiCoN verse, I didn’t want to inadvertently shade my views on Olicity’s growing family and continuing mission with anything she did in her series. If anything I do happens to run parallel to her work, I want to know beyond any doubt that it’s 100% coincidence. But her stories are something I’m absolutely itching to get to read… eventually. Her writing is excellent.
@tinaday3w - I’m tempted to say “JUST READ IT” but that’s probably not enough… But really, just read it. No one does slow burn like Tina. Victorian era AU with pirate!Oliver? Yes, please. Hello. I’ll take two.
@emmilynestill - She’s just so good. And sooooo hot. I don’t know if you know this, Anon, but writing a good sex scene is hard. You don’t want your reader pulled out of the scene by wondering if a position is actually possible or when underwear came off (or if it did) or how gravity isn’t making them collapse. Like… smut is difficult. But it reads so effortlessly with Emmilyne’s writing. And, beyond that, she weaves it in beautifully with plot that keeps you wondering what’s next and emotion that builds and grows in an organic way. Orgasms and organic feelings. Honestly, what else could anyone really want?
@ruwithmeguys - Jess will gut you and leave you asking her to do it again. Indecent Proposal… just… read the warnings and be ready and read it with a lot of time on your hands and probably in chunks because ouch. But still… read it.
@academyofshipping - Sarah has this dry sense of humor that comes out in her fics that’s as clever as it is fun. Fluffy, funny, smart, cute and rich with feeling, Sarah’s writing is consistently strong.
@someonesaidcake - Felice is fantastic for completed, multichapter AU fics. She has quite a few and I’m pretty sure every single one included smut at some point (if that’s your thing) as well as plot.
And… I’ve spent like an hour and a half on this which was a lovely diversion for my day. I know I’m forgetting amazing people but I have to stop here. When in doubt, take the title of a fic you like, google that name in quotes along with “rec list” and find someone’s list where that story was included, then explore the others. Or, check the bookmarks on AO3 of an author you like, that’s a great place to mine for fics, too. And, again, I can’t rec @theolicitylibrary enough. That said… happy reading, Anon! We’ll get through this hiatus together… through fic and sheer force of will. ;-)

OOH for a music mood™ tell me about ur 3 fav songs by ghost!
I’ll be honest, it’s been awhile since I’ve really sat down and listened to them, but I guess my three favorites would be….
(under a read more because it’s kinda long whoops!)
First, I feel like I should give a quick little about for them so some of this makes sense… Ghost (known as Ghost B.C. here in the States for awhile), are from Sweden. Their singer “changes” every album cycle (it’s actually the same guy, just different costume and title), with the the title of Papa Emeritus. So with their first album, Opus Eponymous, there was Papa Emeritus I, then Papa Emeritus II with Infestissumam, and Papa Emeritus III with Meliora, who’s also the current Papa. The backing band are called The Nameless Ghouls, even though they have names based on the elements. There’s Earth on drums, Air on piano and keytar, Fire on lead guitar, Water on bass, and Aether on rhythm guitar. If you look you may find that some of them have different names like Alpha (lead guitar) and Omega (rhythm guitar) and Mist (bass), but these are former Ghouls that are no longer in the band. The ghouls also all wear the same costumes as each other, almost like uniforms of sorts.
Zenith
a bonus track on their album Meilora.. some lore that fans have dug up is that since it has the previous Papa Emeritus, II, on the cover, that it’s a leftover from the second album, Infestissumam. Fans who theorize about all this stuff conclude that it’s about Papa II wanting to take back the title so MAYBE he’s gonna kill Papa III and we’ll get him again… we’ll find out soon what actually happens because Papa III’s last show is supposed to be soon! Anyway, I love this song because it’s pretty steady throughout, really making the chorus and I guess what could be the breakdown more intense. The chanting of Saecula Saeculorum (apparently “century of centuries” in Latin) at one point in the song also helps add to the spooky vibe. there’s also a sense of doom in the track? Idk man, this is one you’ve really gotta listen to closely to absorb it all.
Death Knell
There’s not much to say about this one, it seems it’s literally just talking about summoning Satan lol. The album this one’s from, Opus Eponymous (literally “self titled” in Latin), really is something special. They were able to emulate that classic metal style pretty well and bring it to the ears of modern listeners. This one sounds especially doomy, and I love the organ sounds laced throughout.
Secular Haze
Once I got to this point I realized, but wait, there’s some other songs I love too! But I had to give this one a spot, as it was the song that introduced me to the band. While it does seem kind of odd once you realize the instruments sound like something you might hear at a carnival, it really works with the song as a whole. As most of Ghost’s lyrics, it deals with Satanic and supernatural elements. This is another steady one, but I feel it helps you get a good idea of what Ghost are about. I linked to the music video so you can also observe the stage presence of Papa II as well, because, boy, is the mastermind behind Ghost so good with making each Papa his own man! While Papa III is more lively than the two previous ones, Papa II really aides the vibe the Infestissumam era had going on. He grabbed your attention without having to do much. That kind of went off topic, but this is another one I’m not too sure how to describe. I feel this one is heavy enough for people who like metal but light enough for those who don’t to enjoy it as well.
Some honorable mentions include Absolution, Deus In Absentia, Ghuleh/Zombie Queen (i beg you to also check out this version), Jigolo Har Megiddo, Square Hammer, Cirice (they won a Grammy for this one!!), and I’ll stop there lmao.
Thanks a lot for this man, it really made me remember how much I love these guys!!

Ghost History Class:
This is a revision of my last breakdown. Being Nameless Ghouls you can't tell who is who and its frustrating as hell. I had a lot of help from @unholykazoo but I think I nailed it this time. So, there are 4 Ghost Era's, one for each album.
Era #1: Opus Eponymous
Oct. 2010 - Aug. 2012
Papa Emeritus or Papa Emeritus i and the Nameless Ghouls. They wear an all black uniform with hoods. No masks or alchemic symbols. They changed to an all white uniform with a sharp featured mask, but had to throw it out for obvious reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lead guitar {Fire}: far stage left/ white guitar with small triangle sticker on pick guard/ scampers and makes naughty gestures with his fingers/ average height & build/ thick accent (2010 - )
Rhythm guitar {Ether/ Quintessence}: far stage right/ black or black and brown guitar with Omega sticker/ STOMPS all the fucking time HARD/ average height/ thicker build/ accent/ wears thick banded rings (2010 - )
Bass guitar {Water}: upstage center/ white guitar with no symbol/ a bit shorter/ slimmer build (2010 - 2011)
Bass guitar {2nd Water} same white bass guitar/ can't really tell them apart (2011 - )
Drums {Earth}: upstage right/ average height/ average build/ piercing blue eyes/ noticeable accent (2010 - )
Keyboard {Air}: upstage left/ stands at the keyboard [uncommon]/ HUGE he's the tallest/ devil horns with his fingers/ always standing ominously in the background (2010 - ) [i know that's prob not Air in black but that's as good as it gets]
Era #2: Infestissumam
Dec. 2012 - Sept. 2014
Papa Emeritus II is a mean looking son of a bitch. The Ghouls kept the same idea from the white uniform, but went with black instead. They now wear their alchemic symbols to give us a break.
Tumblr media
Lead / Fire: starts being referred to as Alpha primarily to counterpart Omega.
Rhythm / Ether: starts being referred to as Omega primarily because of the sticker/ ALSO called Quintessence
Bass / Water #2: (- 2013)
Bass / Water #3: black bass guitar/ tall/ huge hands (2013 - 2014)
Drums / Earth #1: said in an interview he likes to play songs where he can flail around because it makes him feel flamboyant
Keyboard/ Air #1: still intimidating AF
Era #3: Meliora [the Grammy]
June 2015 - Sept. 2017
This is where things get dicey. There are small eras that make this era. This is the Popestar tour under Papa iii. He wears full Papal robes and a black and white suit. His ghouls went for pants too, changing their uniforms to tailored tunics and statuesque demon masks (my favorite). There was some ugliness and the band broke up and it gets complicated, but i have pictures:
June 2015 - July 2016:
Lead / Alpha: got his hand tattoos in 2015/ wears rings now
Rhythm / Omega: (- 2016)
Bass / Water #4: Teddy bear physique/shorter/ would hold his arms straight out and sway side-to-side (2015 - 2016)
Drums / Earth #2: so so small/ hooked his sticks on his horns/ tossed them into the audience/ didn't like his cymbals being touched/ just a shit ass in general (2015- )
Keyboard / Air: introduces Keytar
Kazoo: Papa iii
Popestar Tour: Sept - Nov 2016
Lead / Alpha: (- 2016)
Rhythm / Aether #2: Teddy Bear/ black guitar without Omega symbol [Water #4]
Bass / Water #5: First Lady Ghoul/ so very small/ called Mist
Drums / Earth #2: (- 2016)
Keyboard / Keytar: (- 2016)
*AFTER THIS TOUR ALL GHOULS REPLACED*
Popestar pt. 2 "New Ghouls on the Block": March - Sept. 2017
Lead / Fire #2 [No longer Alpha] my fav Fire/ same height as #1/ thicker build/ scampers/ energetic/ finger guns all the time/ perfect/ nothing on his hands or guitar
Tumblr media
Rhythm / Aether #3 (2017- ) [No longer Omega] thick boy/ rings on middle fingers/ bracelet on left wrist/ JUMPER/ plain black guitar
Tumblr media
Bass / Water #6 (2017- ) small stature/ huge stage presence/ whips head around/ almost kisses Fire #2 on the regular
Tumblr media
Drums / Earth #3: (2017) big guy/ that's all
Tumblr media
Keyboard / Keytar: Air #2 (2017) nicknamed Chair/ he sat like a traditional keyboardist/ shorter/ Teddy bear physique
Tumblr media
Era #4: Prequelle
May 2018 -
This era is lead by Cardinal Copia. This is where the theatrics kick in and new ghouls are introduced as well as a new Papa and Sister. This is the first album written without an original band member. Ex-members also filed a lawsuit against T. Forge and his cover was blown. So, here's our current Ghouls AND Ghoulettes:
Tumblr media
Rats on the Road: May - June 2018
A Pale Tour Named Death: Oct. - Dec. 2018
Lead / Fire / Dewdrop: (2017- ) as Water, filled in for Alpha when he was injured during Era #3 because he's crazy good and knew all the songs on bass and guitar/ is a Fire but called Dewdrop + Dew primarily because he is so small and a former Water/ still insane/ licks guitar picks/ finger fucks his own mouth and runs his hand down his chest/ stomps/ bullies Aether with love
Rhythm / Aether #3 / Forearms: (2017- ) same Aether that ended Era #3/ BEEFY guy/ we spell it Aether instead of Ether to differentiate/ rolls sleeves up after intermission/ jumps A LOT/ best buds with everyone/ gets bullied by Dew/ peace sign fingers/ holds up left foot at curtain call so he ends the show "on the right foot"
Bass / Water #7 / Rain: (2018 -)tall and thin/ bashful and sassy/ ASS WOBBLER/ was left to be raised by his crazy uncle's/ called Rain because he's a Water and fell down (like Rain) backstage
Swiss Army / Multi-Ghoul: (2018- ) (new breed) upstage right/ plays: acoustic + electric guitar, sings, tambourine and 'plays' saxophone as Papa Nihil/ dances the entire time/ darts around messing with everyone/ wiggles/ has an ass that won't quit
Drums / Earth #4 / Mountain: (2018- ) called Mountain because he is an Earth and very tall/ thin/ stoic/ poor baby sweats A LOT because he goes hard/ drumming demon
The Ghoulettes / Tall + Karen / Smol + Pam / Mom's: (2018- ) Tall shreds the Keytar/ Smol sings like an angel and plays tambourine/ both play keyboard and love us
Extra Information: When Copia was introduced the Papa's were all still alive. We met the patriarch of the Emeritus family, Papa Nihil or Papa Zero [plays sax], and his lovely counterpart Sister Imperator. They got together and killed Nihil's sons for a fresh start.
The Grandparents:

Tuti Curani traduce a Ashley Opheim

Opus. Semilla Iris. Omega.
