do you have advice for writing Deimos? love your characterization of him
asking the hard questions here. had to think about this for a couple days because in all honesty I don't think about how I write him very much
so, starting with speech patterns because that can really set your interpretation apart from others. when I first got into writing for madcom I was also into tf2 so I ripped off of scout's voice lines quite a bit. he goes off on tangents and gets distracted often by his own thoughts. he says "like" a lot without realizing it but it's his little way of pausing to think. he's a lot more crass these days than how I used to write him, every other sentence seems to have an f bomb. he doesn't talk in circles necessarily but when he's stressed his thoughts get tangled up on their way out which makes him have to backtrack, start over, and reword a lot
behavior-wise, and this is where I want to bite chunks out of the fandom sometimes, if you're gonna make him a pathetic loser he's gotta be an asshole about it. no matter how bad the circumstances, even if it's to his own detriment, that fire inside him rages on. he doesn't have a lot of self awareness in that regard, tends to assume people have beef with him because he's a clone or whatever reason, but in reality a lot of people don't like him simply because he's a dick
I write him to be very reactive to his environment and the people around him. if someone says something that can be misinterpreted, he will choose the worst possible interpretation and get defensive/aggressive about it. criticism, advice, jokes, even compliments at times are taken as a challenge
adding on to things that get taken as a challenge, Deimos operates on body language more than words sometimes. with this aspect I use dog body language for reference more than anything but there are some things that are universal. staring someone down, crowding their space, baring his teeth. he tends to be more closed off when he's uncomfortable, folded arms, slouching, etc, and more open when he isn't
I don't know if any of this makes sense
biggest takeaway I guess is he's a pathetic paranoid asshole that would sooner gargle nails than swallow his pride and ask for help or admit that he's hurting. like he's genuinely so self destructive even if he knows it's hurting someone else too. because he's selfish. and this is a great plot device because it means you get to force him to go through Character Development, which brings me to the more technical side of things
if you wanna write something that's emotionally moving to read, either take someone who's doing alright and fuck them up and break them into pieces, or take someone who's already fucked up and Make Them get their shit together even if it hurts. you can do both of these with Deimos because he's both fucked up on the inside and has a bulletproof facade on the outside and lemme tell you that's so fun to break down
can't think of anything else but if you were looking for more specific advice feel free to send another ask!

trying to break out of my shell and post madcom hc shit aka Look At My One Of Many Weirdass Hank Ramblings, Boy
hank you know them. they're six-foot-something and wanted to try volleyball. they dont get sarcasm and refer to stuff as "thingys". they're the autistic power fantasy of throwing bricks at those who view you as subhuman. their bedroom's apparently just a mirror to practice cool poses with and a blanket and their favorite drink is eggs now according to the streams. and they are your new nonbinary president
im constantly fluctuating between Animation & MPN Are Two Different Timelines/Universes or They're The Same, But He’s Testing Which "Hank" Is More Favorable/Useful To Others
wasian hank truther baby. (jp+filipino-american)
this guy would probably use わたし/私 (ive seen a lot of artists use オレ/俺 for him though but i feel like its a bit?? much)
definitely had to pick up sign-language after [Vague Gesturing] All That
has autism in the way that they have No Clue they got it. like "damn i got [Specific Autistic Issues]. sucks that im so so normal and yet i must endure The Problems everyday"
speaking of autism, enjoys confined spaces sensory-wise. vents and boxes and shit like Come On Man. Do You See The Vision.
gonna be honest like half of the shit (Understatement) i got for hank is projection but what's madcom without that in some aspect!! that's the POINT man!!! [ON KNEES WAILING] that's the POINT
working in real estate and as a mercenary since The Incident made their self-worth go to SHIT; in a world that dehumanizes you, you are quick to dehumanize yourself. this is where the power of lesbian friendship comes in
subconsciously puts doc on a pedestal over time, leading to (See Bullet 1); this dissipates after they somehow reach a conversation of Bitch We Are Both Equals And Fighting For Our Fucking Lives Out Here THEY SOLVE SHIT TOGETHER MAN!!! THEY SOLVE IT
sorry. sorry. im trying to delete it
out of nowhere maybe its the Autistic Projection maybe its cause im allergic to Sadstuck Shit i dont dig negative stuff with 2bhank it just feels Wrong :-( i wish i could word this better but like. i need these little chesspiece fucks to learn to communicate
what i will refer to as the Newspaper Era (aka the time before we got doc characterization from arena mode) caused people to make some weirdass depictions of their relationship and im glad its phasing out. The Horrors
main 4 are all butch lesbians btw. not sorry about that one
also POLYCOMBAT TRUTHER this dude would HATE how vulnerable these three would make them feel at first. they're the first to actually treat him like A Guy and that fuck him up a bit initially
i think eventually they all reach a point where they're able to do stupid shit together like fireworks or breaking chairs over each other heads. you've seen how doc is don't exclude him from doing dumbass shit
"erm… actually they wouldnt be friends or have fun or date theyre ruthless criminals and madcom is cruel :/" L + ratio + the rule of The Funniest Thing Is The Answer in madcom prevails + That's The Devil Talking, Boy
shit at technology. if they had a blog their lack of skills would loop back around to make them the most powerful shitposter on earth
there's definitely more that im missing here and takes that Don't Suck (for example people need to put out more hankford content. Cmon Man) but my brain has this shit Queued Up in a way so. Yeah

i need to hear more about the madcom boys in slime rancher please!
This ask is in regard to THIS previous post I made.
To elaborate on this idea, I think each of the boys would have their own personal slime companion or a certain slime that they bonded with.
Hank would have a Tabby Slime that he dresses up in ninja gear. The tabby slime would be just as active or happy as any other slime. Regularly playing with Hank or other slimes while Hank moves about the Player's ranch. How they met was that when Hank went out to the dry reef, this slime just kept following him. No matter what he did to it, it would come back and 'harass' him. Eventually, he gave up and became his partner because of their perseverance.
Sanford would have a Boom Slime that he's given sunglasses to. Sanford loves exploding stuff and this was no exception. They were easily his favorite slimes, and despite the numerous times he got slightly injured from the explosions, they weren't all damaging. But one day he just happened to meet a rather proud boom slime that wanted to show him what guts it had. It had gumption and he had to admit, every time it blew up, it hurt just a little bit more. Keep it up, little bomb!
Deimos would have a mischievous Rock Slime with a baseball cap. The rock slime is notorious for causing trouble and being different from its peers. Unlike the other slimes, this slime seemed to seek out Deimos in particular. Regularly "bullying" him when he goes out into the dry reef. One day, Deimos managed to catch it, feed it a heart beet, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
Doc would have an affectionate Honey Slime that likes to sit in his lap or on his shoulders. Surprising the doctor by not being sticky in the slightest. How they met was actually that the slime approached him while he was doing a field study in the moss blanket. It just...simply wouldn't leave him alone and he slowly got attached to it. One day he decided to bring it home after a tarr outbreak occurred in the moss blanket and his worries for his little honey slime buddy became too great.
Other than what I have already stated in the previous post, I think I'll elaborate on the AAHW side this time!
Jeb is equally as bombarded by the world of Slime Rancher as any of the other grunts. His eyes visibly squint at the sheer amount of colors and the constant happiness that radiates in the land is almost nigh sickening. But...strangely there is a certain beauty to this land of bouncy giggly slimes. In fact, during the night you can find Jeb outside just watching phosphor slimes fly about the Far Far Range and he will comment that they are all beautiful in their own unique way.
The Sheriff is no stranger to wrangling up some rather rambunctious individuals and slimes were of no exception. In fact, he may actually like the Far Far Range and the world of Slime Rancher more than his own universe. It feels more homey to him than Nevada ever did, strangely enough. Wrangling slimes for a living just seemed to fit his much more laid back (cowardly) lifestyle than leading a group of mercenaries and murderers. He may not have much authority here in the range, but he definitely seems happier.
Tricky HATES it here. He can't kill ANYTHING and everything that he tries to kill just KEEPS COMING BACK. Tricky is easily sent into violence withdrawal and pretty much has a few episodes of rage and depression. He's moody and wants to go back to Nevada as soon as possible. The only things keeping him insane enough to tolerate this world is the Player and senseless murder of slimes. The incinerator actually has to be picked up and put away because of his need for mindless violence. Sadly, the player has to agree that Tricky needs to go back to the world of Nevada, since he seems to be too lost in his insanity to enjoy his time here.
The Auditor is a strangely special case. He shares the same sentiments of the other grunts, that this place was far too colorful and equally far too happy. The smiles of the slimes are enough to irritate the employer, but he doesn't give in to the vice of violence against them as easily. He tries to impale them on his spikes and, of course, nothing happens to the slime that he does it to. It just bounces away all happily while he silently fumes. Still...there are certain beauties to this world that even The Auditor can appreciate. The night in this universe is striking and beautiful. The stars are vivid and the sky is illuminated with the lights of many phosphor slimes. He would have to say that it was peaceful. It would be even better if the moon itself wasn't smiling at him as well.
Now for their slimy partners!
Jeb would actually be one of the few grunts to have a Phosphor Slime. Except his partner is strikingly different from other phosphor slimes. Having a halo and angel wings, similar to him. They happened to meet one cool night in the far far range when a lone light approached him and the slime seemed to view him as similar to them, hanging around his halo. Jeb found their presence comforting and took them into the grotto to stay during the day. Once night falls, the slime emerges and both he and it go on a long night walk together.
The Sheriff would have a Hunter Slime. One day, he happened to be walking through the mushroom area of the moss blanket when he was pounced upon by a hunter slime, starling the poor sheriff. But once he knew he wasn't being jumped by a feral slime, he relaxed. The hunter slime in question seemed to become enthralled with the sheriff and even stole his hat at one point! Once the hat was retrieved, the sheriff decided to call the little troublemaker 'scamp' and they eventually became friends.
Tricky has an unwanted tag along in the form of a Rad Slime. This slime actually used to be very lonely because its aura caused other slimes to become ill. But not Tricky! This is primarily because Tricky is actually a zed, in other words DEAD, and the slime seemed to imprint on his ability to not feel radiation sickness. Becoming an unofficial partner to Tricky, despite the clown's intolerance or irritation. It had come back so many times that Tricky eventually just gave up.
The Auditor would have a Tarr Slime. In a strange twist of fate, or maybe a "glitch" in the game, once The Auditor actually got bit by the tarr originally, the tarr changed into an inky black color and its rainbow hue turned into a bloody red. Almost like the employer had infected IT instead. It was surprising to the employer as the turned-tarr simply looked up at him once it was converted and followed his orders regardless of what they were. Surprisingly, the tarr was very useful, especially in 'dispatching' slimes that irritated the employer. Even stranger, no matter how many slimes the converted tarr consumed, it wouldn't spawn more tarr. Plus, anymore bites that the Auditor suffered never turned any more tarr after that. It was like a one-off event. Still, the Auditor loves his beloved pet and he always makes sure to reward it every time an annoying slime is dispatched.

MSG: What if…. Tf2 characters in MadCom universe?? This came in my head suddenly, I'm sorry 😭 - @gr4cefully-bon
Honestly, I really love TF2, the characters are all blorbo material. Having all the Mercs from the game in Madness Combat would definitely be very chaotic though lmao. Typically the people we discuss have some sort of serious disposition (like the Batter or Doomguy) or they're very innocent (Kirby), but the Mercs are almost the opposite of them.
To start off with them as a group, I think they'd be at odds with your grunts most of the time. It's highly likely that they believe they can do jobs faster and more efficiently with their specialization and how they work together - and they're actually correct. It's not surprising, considering how incredibly smart some of their members are and the fact that there are simply more of them in their group. For this reason, the boys see them as being more of a substantial threat in their competition for your favor. However, your main vessels also have their own problems (or lack thereof) with each Merc individually too.
(Rest under the cut because this is a long one. I'm not joking, this is very general but also somehow fic length? 😅)
Starting with Scout, I can definitely see them disliking him for how much of a loudmouth he is, and he would definitely get into arguments with Deimos a lot (because of course they'd start fights with each other, they're too headstrong not to). I also think Scout's tendency to trash-talk your vessels (because he's obviously better than them) would be very grating to Sanford and Doc specifically. Those two are just trying to be cordial most times but it's so annoying to have him constantly badgering them about everything.
Hank, on the other hand, is more offended by how the Bostonian tries to show off around you. Whether Scout does it for romantic reasons or not is up for interpretation (because Ms. Pauling is still someone to consider, even if she's not there), but he still tries to impress you, which puts him at odds with your vessel. Even worse, it's not like Hank can just kill him to get rid of him since his Medic will just bring him back again. (Very ironic, all things considered.)
Scout’s very competitive by nature, so most of his views on your vessels are initially related to how he can prove that he’s better than them. He already has them beat on speed (although Deimos comes close), but he’s sure he can find some way to scheme his way past their ferocity. It’s not hard for him to notice that your grunts do nearly everything for your approval, so a part of him figures that you can be the incidental “judge” over this (another reason why he shows off so much around you). Although, he also makes jokes about how they “suck up” to you, only to realize that they’re completely genuine about going unbelievably far for your affection. It’s kinda weird, but since he also becomes friends with you, he can get it. Sorta.
He likely ends up befriending Sanford further, especially if some of the details about Scout's Ma are revealed. Scout's pretty close with his mother, or at least to the level of being pretty protective over her, and Sanford's the same way with his. I can see Sanford kinda nudging the Mercs to cut it out if they make jabs at Scout about this specifically, which definitely makes the Merc in question see him in a new, better light. It's probably why he'll interrupt the others (Spy) when they try to get real friendly with you as a way to return the favor, which also has the bonus of improving his relations with the other grunts too.
Maybe a few well-times jokes might liken him more to Deimos (he is "the funny one" after all), but he's probably a bit scared of Hank no matter how much time is spent around him; the man's kinda like Pyro but without any of the innocence. Scout enjoys combat, but not to the horrifying level Hank appears to. It makes him uneasy. Doc is fine enough, but his whole meddling with death and mortality reminds him a bit too much of his own Medic. But, you know, a lot more closed off and cold. Like everyone else in his group, he's mostly fine with them at the very least, since you've got a pretty good handle on them in terms of behavior.
The Engineer is probably one of the more tolerable for your grunts, simply because he's pretty polite and hospitable. He's probably one of the Mercs who actually acknowledges that you're all on the same side, so there's no reason to go picking fights. However, he does still flex his technical knowledge a lot of the time, which might tick off Deimos (and Doc) a fair bit. It's still pretty tame, though. Sanford is probably just chill with him, although Hank might try to target his turrets and such just to get a new gun out of it, if possible.
Engineer’s thoughts on them, on the other hand, are very similar to that of his own crew. Hank reminds him of the violence everyone is capable of, Deimos is fairly similar to Scout (even their hats/visors are practically the same), and Sanford reminds him of a mixture of Demoman and the more lowkey members of the Mercs. 2B shares a lot of practical traits with Medic, which is to be expected as well. As a result of these similarities, he finds himself warming up to that rather quickly. Plus, he's used to how rambunctious a group of murderous people can be, so he's able to adapt to whatever they throw at him. (Although it still annoys him when Hank tries to break one of his machines - if you could make him not do that, that'd be great.)
Despite your boys’ initial dislike of him, I could see them becoming friends down the line. Engie is really nice and down to earth, and I think he would understand why the boys weren't exactly happy about his group arriving (in reference to you, of course) which means that he can also lessen whatever tension is there.
Heavy is another one who the guys wouldn't have that big of an issue with since he's just very mellow. His love for combat (and use of his minigun) is something Hank can appreciate, especially since he doesn't really do it for your attention. Deimos and Doc seem to like his rather morbid sense of humor, and Doc finds him likable on an intellectual level. Also, as it turns out, Sanford can whip up some pretty good sandwiches, so that's something for them to "bond" over in addition to everything else. It's to be expected; Heavy is a pretty likable guy.
In Heavy's view, he starts off pretty indifferent to them in the beginning. They get along well enough, since he’s not exactly new to being around a group of murderous mercenaries, but he likely won’t be as close to them as his own squad. This might change, with time spent going over weapons with Hank, cooking with Sanford, and having lively discussions with Deimos (who is notably not as obnoxious as Scout) and Doc about literature and such. (A lot of the things Heavy has read are actually nonexistent in Nevada, which just makes the topic more interesting to the grunts. Luckily for them, you also want to know what they're discussing, so they get to be with you when they do it. Does this make the grunts like Heavy more by proxy? Maybe.)
Medic, on the other hand, has disagreements with 2B a lot. Oddly enough, it's usually just Doc's problem. Medic's very eccentric, more so than any scientist 2B's come across before (well, save for Tricky). Then you add this to the fact that Medic is very intelligent, and actually has concrete knowledge of the medical field (including reviving people), and you have someone who could very easily take Doc’s place in your little group. Of course, realistically speaking there isn’t actually any chance of that happening - but the fact that you now go to Medic instead of 2B for anything medically related makes that fear rear its ugly head once in a while, no matter how irrational it is. (You probably just do it so you aren’t “bothering” 2BDamned with things he might have to work to research. He really wishes you wouldn’t worry about that; he’d spend weeks pouring over textbooks just to give you a single answer, and would be happy all the while just because you thought to ask him.) It also doesn’t help that Medic had a far better first impression with you, showing genuine interest in you and your abilities and accepting your power immediately instead of the doubt and suspicion Doc gave you.
Doc’s direct confrontations with him are kicked off more from his obvious skepticism of Medic’s experiments, but they don’t go very far, since Medic is too busy actually working on them to entertain anything else (unless it’s his teammates getting themselves injured and/or killed, which happens a lot). Sanford is probably very wary around Medic since he views the man as wildly unpredictable and dangerous (besides, who knows what experiments he’d end up doing with a whole other species to use). Deimos has the same reaction for the most part, but he does have a lot of curiosity about his experiments too, just because they’re interesting. The medigun is also an engineering marvel in his eyes, so I can see him trying to formulate some way to ask about it. As for Hank, well, let’s just say that the ÜberCharge is something he finds fascinating. Being bulletproof would make taking out enemies (and impressing you) so much more efficient for him, and it could cement his place as more of a powerhouse among the grunts you use as vessels. Plus, with how big he is, Medic might not even have to find a Mega Baboon heart to do it which could make the idea more tempting for him. (Now, how to get away with it without 2BDamned trying to prevent it-)
As for Medic’s thoughts on them, he thinks they’re interesting. They’re a team that operates like his, but without all the maximized specialization. Adaptable as teammates, and brought together for the single purpose of working for you, their collective Player (which is admittedly a lot better than working for either of the Mann twins). He can also probably view parallels between them and his own group, which makes him a lot friendlier, in his own way. He’s still absorbed by his work, of course, but he won’t pass up a chance to have some conversation with them if they’d like. He’d probably be quite intrigued by the entire “mythos” of Nevada, with the Employers, the Higher Powers, the Other Place, S-3LFs, etc. - and grunt biology, naturally. So the potential conversations with your cross-faced vessels would be a good way to learn about it, which is a bonus for him.
However, he finds it a bit strange that they seem so hesitant to discuss you. They are obviously fond of you, so why would they shy away from talking at length about your abilities? (It’s actually because they don’t think he deserves to know everything about you, which he’ll likely come to figure out rather quickly. The behavior from them is too weird not to. Luckily he can just ask you directly.)
Demoman and Soldier are probably some of the more inherently likable Mercs, since they honestly fit right in Nevada’s wasteland and are genuinely funny (even if they don’t mean to be). Sanford is your group’s explosive expert, so he probably tries to get some pointers from Demoman about stickybombs and how to make himself more effective on this front (to assist you better, of course). And considering how personable Demoman is, and the fact that he's more than happy to explain his craft to such an eager "student", it’s really no trouble at all for him to do it. He probably becomes friends with him over this too, which makes things easier for you. Deimos and Hank also have a fascination with the explosives, but the latter comes closer to outright taking them to use them (so Demoman appreciates how the others in your group (and you, mainly you) stop him from doing that). Doc’s rather curious about why his eye doesn’t grow back after Medic heals him but decides not to ask after Medic started going on and on about monsters and demons when he tried to discuss it one time.
Soldier’s an absolute riot, and I think Sanford and Deimos are the types to play along whenever he “orders” them to do something like common soldiers. Nevada doesn’t really have any military forces in the traditional sense (no use for Bootcamp when Nevada is such a violent place anyway), so it's weirdly fun for them to indulge in it. Soldier also probably favors them because of this, which you find hilarious.
However, Hank is more disapproving of anyone trying to order him around (because he only accepts your word now - and maybe 2B's still), which would become a small source of conflict between them. Even more annoying is Soldier's view that Hank just needs to be whipped up into shape to behave "properly" (which is never gonna happen, cause this is Hank). Doc doesn't interact much with Soldier, even if his actions are very entertaining. It's simply not in 2B's nature to be around such outgoing people for long periods of time; he finds it draining, and he'd loathe if he ended up missing out on time he could've spent with you if he's too busy recharging his social battery. There is one thing they all appreciate about Soldier, though, this being that his bravado is constant. Soldier's grandiose attitude and overzealous methods aren't restricted to when he's in your presence, which is part of the reason why all your boys like (or at the very least, tolerate) him more than some of the others.
Sniper evokes a lot of disgust from the whole jar weapon he uses (o_o), but his “professional” demeanor makes him very easy to be around. Your grunts don’t have a trained ranged specialist (2B doesn’t count since field work isn’t his primary role), so they suppose that you using him isn’t too bad. It’s a lot easier to focus on people they’re fighting for you if the opposing side’s snipers are being taken care of by one of yours. They’ll still pout about it and try to one-up him of course, but they won’t be as deeply offended or irked as with some others.
However, Sniper being charming and notably enjoyable company also means you like being around him, which makes your boys less than enthused. It’s not like Sniper is trying to be that way, but it still makes them tense. Although, Sniper notices how they are around you (it’s very obvious) so he’ll tease them about it, maybe even siding up closer to you every now and then just to see how mad they get. Nothing serious, but enough to make jokes about you having your own guard dogs (which doesn’t actually offend them, weirdly enough). It’s a bit tense on their side, again, but Sniper’s lax enough not to let it bother him. Besides, with how quirky his own group is, he has more than enough tolerance for the grunts’ weirdness.
Pyro is actually pretty harmless from their viewpoint. Your boys see how you two draw little pictures of unicorns and fairies together, and how cheerful he is despite being overly violent, and they just can’t find him all that threatening. Hank is amused by his jovial attitude concerning literally burning people alive, while Deimos enjoys showing off his pyrokinesis to the weirdly-innocent pyromaniac. It’s kind of a bonding point, and I think all of your boys would find Pyro rather endearing in his genuine attitude, even if Doc and Sanford are a bit worried about his psyche. (Was it combat and trauma that made him like this? The mask he wears?-)
Pyro probably just sees more new friends when he meets your grunts, like how he views the Mercs on his own team (and even the other nine Mercs). He’s excessively friendly and upbeat, constantly inviting them to whatever you and he are doing (tea parties, drawing, fixing up his flamethrower, you helping him sharpen his axes, etc.) and they agree each time, which makes him even happier. He's probably the one they have the best relationship with, purely because they don't think of him as a threat in any sense, so they're alright with him getting all cozy with you. So long as it's not too cozy, of course. You're still their Player too.
Finally, there's Spy. Otherwise known as the single Merc which your boys just cannot stand in any capacity; the one person out of the nine eccentric humans who they have the most conflict with. Why? Because of his propensity to flirt with you anytime and anywhere possible. He’s a suave smooth-talker, a gentleman among homicidal maniacs, and he just won't shut up when he's around you. Always complimenting your eyes, comparing you to flowers, and calling you terms of endearment. Talking about how your beauty puts the sunrises and sunsets of your world to shame, and how the stars could only feel ashamed to come so far from how brilliant you shined in comparison. And you always blush and roll your eyes, because you know it's probably not that serious, even if it's flattering.
You even tell your grunts about this, hoping to make them ease off from being so threatening towards him. However, this just exacerbates the problem. Who the fuck does he think he is, just flustering you for no reason? Pulling you around like you're some kind of toy he can play with for entertainment?
Spy doesn't deserve to even think such terms about you, especially if they're ingenuine. And even if they weren't, it couldn't measure up to a fraction of the love they have for you. It honestly makes them consider outright killing him, consequences be damned. It's not like anything would be permanent, since Medic could just revive him anyway. But your sure disappointment in them and inevitable hurt from this prevents them from doing so. (Spy doesn't know how lucky he is, that the grunts' fondness for their Player surpasses even their bloodlust.)
Instead, they settle for glaring, pulling you away from him, distracting you whenever you're about to interact, or just outright blocking him from viewing you (Hank, Hank does all this the most). Deimos will also loudly talk over him, insult him, or just fluster you himself by using his voice (and looking smugly at Spy when you blush from a small, genuine comment (and/or innuendo) from him). Sanford will point out how worthless his comments are if he doesn't mean them, and how you deserve better than some womanizer. Doc can come up with any excuse under the sun as to why you need to be doing something other than talking to him and make it sound believable. Anything to stop him from flirting with you.
So it's definitely a mixed bag insofar as your grunts' reactions to the TF2 Mercs. Some are closer with them than others, which is only natural. However, all of this only stands if the Mercs themselves don't have a confirmed romantic (and/or obsessive) level of interest in you, which would make things worse by far lmao.

Madness combat characters on what they would give to their s/o on Valentine's Day (this is if the Madness Combat Universe (not to be confused with the other MCU) celebrates Valentines or any kind of similar holiday). Maybe Sanford, Deimos and Hank first?
So to be completely honest, I don't think Valentine's Day or any equivalent is celebrated very widely in Nevada. Mostly because everything's all death violence and destruction and everything looks like hell.
That being said, maybe, just maybe…
Also ngl it's really, really hard to answer this in a general sense, since the point is kinda to think of your partner and what's a good gift for them? But characters have different ways of thinking of those sorts of things, so—
Also whoops I did way more than needed
Headcanons - What MadCom characters would give to their s/os on Valentine's Day!
Hank: I'm not gonna lie, I'm not sure Hank would be the best at figuring out what their s/o even wants on Valentine's day, but they want to be a good partner, so I'm pretty sure he'd just get his s/o a bunch of weapons, or a blender. His logic is that weapons are necessary in Nevada, and that blenders are… also necessary.
Mag Hank: Dumps a pile of slaughtered enemies in front of their s/o. Doesn't understand how their devotion could ever be a bad gift, even when it comes in the blood of their enemies. He looks so happy about it, though—
Sanford: He's the kind of guy who wants to consider what his s/o would like but at the same time doesn't waste time with anything too formal (mostly because… it's Nevada). Takes his s/o out on a date that's nice and laid-back, and then maybe chill and watch movies or something. Super simple stuff. I feel like he's more a fan of quality time than any gifts, that's just how he is.
Deimos: He's really out here saying his s/o can do whatever they want to him however they want all night, as if that isn't what he already asks for every day anyway. But he's a handsome guy so, let it slide maybe?
2BDamned: Okay, I still can't see 2BD as anything but aroace but I feel like if he saw someone upset about being single on Valentine's Day he'd toss a chocolate bar at them like "Here's a chocolate now stop being salty in my hideout."
Tricky: Sparring match sparring match sparring match sparring match sparring match—
Sheriff: He's extremely uncreative about Valentine's Day gifts, but I feel like he'd still buy a box of chocolates for his s/o at the very least. He wishes he could make time in his schedule but it's a lawless wasteland out there and he's pretty busy.
Jeb: Honestly, I think he'd just not participate in Valentine's Day. It's pretty damn hard for him to not be so aloof about everything. He's too concerned with more important things. And by that I mean he's kind of a dick.
Auditor: Valentine's Day is probably unfamiliar to them as a holiday, so most of the 'gifts' they could even fathom giving their s/o are pretty abstract stuff like strength or power. They can back it up, at least. Maybe it comes with a price, maybe not, all that matters is, the two can rule together, so why not?
If there are any more you wanted me to do, uhh, reach out? Luv ya~❤

OKAY OKAY REASONS WHY YOU (YOU!!!) SHOULD SUBMIT THE PLAYER FROM THIS IS YOU TO @artificialkids-2k23-official!!! I know they won't win and probably won't even make it in but man. they fit this competition SO well.
The game, set within the MadCom universe, is centered around a young clone (YOU) on their first day out of the tube. You explore the world as this child, experiencing several sensory experiences for the first time ever. You're accompanied by your creator and caretaker, Dr. Alex, as he takes you on a tour of your new home, the AAHW facility you were made in.
So, do they qualify for the competition? ABDOLUTELY YES. They are both completely artificial and a child, which are both extremely important plot points to the game.
Tumblr media
this is literally the first sentence in the game. you still got tube juice on you!!!!!
Tumblr media
This is also the first thing anyone says to you in the game, setting in stone that you are playing as a child. You are treated as a child throughout the entire game.
Other reasons why you should play my game: The player is heavily autistic coded!!! Every other character in the game are canonically trans!!! Two of which being nonbinary!! The two main NPCs have divorced energy!!!! All the art was done in MS Paint!! It's free on Itch.io!!! please

@madcom-stuff-of-interest that's actually a drain :D
@kj-munch Thank you! I wanted to come up with some silent intimidation tactic that would catch Deimos off guard (Auditor competence +1) . I've read stories where the kidnapped person would wake up and see torture tools next to themself, or chains/hooks on the walls, stuff like that - but I wanted for Deimos to wake up in a room that looked completely normal. And then this brilliant idea hit me - a gutter drain in the floor :D Simple, but speaks volumes on what's about to come

@mersei47 Let's 🥲

@nymm-kirimoto
Thank you for this reply, I love it. <3 Yeah, I agree with you, this situation is pretty depressing.
Regarding Hank's comment on attachment - I kinda imagine that Hank does feel attachment to their comrades to some extent, but they're a lot more prepared to get over it if the situation demands them to. Like they do here in regards to Deimos, it's just a more rational thing to do 🥲. Hank doesn't want to put any sort of trust in Auditor's words, because it leaves them at disadvantage, but Sanford has no choice but to. Sanford can't give up on Deimos, and if this mission starts around a premise that Deimos is beyond rescue, Sanford isn't going to accept it.
I think, in the end, Hank does see Sanford and Deimos's attachment to each other as their weakness, as something that you can't afford. They live in a universe where it can be easily exploited and used against them, after all.

So the fic's based off after the end of that ao3 fic when Audi Reader finds that tear in reality and steps in, having all that 2nd chance revelation shit. They're a few years before canon events so it's pre-abnormal, sun shining Nevada. I'm putting reader into a redemption arc cause Reader is basically Auditor after all and Auditor is kinda a sadistic apathetic asshole yanno.
Few differences are gonna be there of course, like how my Reader kinda just shoved all of the improbability drives they found into their body, how they're a bit more compassionate and mellow, and that kinda shit. Still kinda apathetic and sadistic when time comes but they're not an asshole which is a major improvement.
And of course, being a madcom x reader type thing with alt universe Auditor as something that may or may not be a love interest, slight romance cues are placed in early chapters. The scene in the ao3 fic where Reader stays with Hanks for the last of his days that usually included just hand holding and stuff gets cuddle scenes cause Reader is touch starved without knowing it.
For the main story, they basically go on their way to preventing the barren apocalypse that happened in their original universe because of their mistakes.
For my story, I will put in a bit of logic that because the sun was killed by hank, life began to slowly die off since, people can't really survive without the sun providing things, aigh? Reader being smart knows that so the second thing they do after surveying the alt universe as a status report basically finds the sun and begins a friendship with xem. If they can befriend the sun and get close enough to xem, they might be able to stop xem from ever coming down from the sky and fighting Hank who would kill xem.
On the topic of Hank, they were the 3rd thing Reader was going to address. Similar to the Sun, they befriend Hank in hopes to stop the possibility of them becoming the feared sociopathic killer in their universe. That. plan didn't exactly work since he became a mercenary anyway but he's at least a lot more chill than Reader's OG Hank, having be, unbeknownst to Reader, more infatuated with them than missions they partake in to kill off some poor sods.
Canonically here, Hank doesn't take much part in the Boom Box Incident because Reader happened to call him because it was Daily Call Troublemakers For Checkup Hour. Hank really only killed off the zombies that came after him that Jeb spawned in after another grunt took OG Hank's place in getting into a fight with Boom Box Dude and other grunts that came from no where.
(Unlike OG Hank's 'fight', this version was much more fair and more of a chain events type thing where one guy hits this guy and that guy hits another and it chains off in a series of accidents)
On Reader's side, they basically spend a few years building up relationships with everyone as to make themselves be a 'middle ground' as with their power and the improbability drives they shoved (ate) into their body, they could end most fights fairly quickly. It's around after ep 1 of the Madcom series that Alt Auditor(Imma just call em Auditor), whom Reader has also befriended, noticed how stressed Reader's been and suggested they go out of Nevada and claim their own territory.
Thing is cause in this, Employers as a default NEED a territory to manage. It's a requirement for their well being. Alt Nevada has Alt Auditor as it's Employer. It's already claimed so Reader can't have it.
It's been a few years since Reader's been without a territory to manage and it's taken a toll on Reader. They're getting extremely stressed with no territory and all the bullshit goin on to make sure their universe doesn't happen here, tired easily, space out more, eat less, etc etc..
Reader of course argues about having a territory, not wanting to stay away from Nevada at all and insisting that they're fine but Audi ain't havin it. Others have noticed Reader's poor state as of lately and it all worries them so basically everyone joins in with Audi for once to get Reader to agree.
After a lot of talking and bargaining, they manage to convince Reader to take up a territory to manage near Nevada so they wouldn't be too far from them with one of the cost of calling all of them daily at specific hours and weekly visits to sate their new found anxiety and ever looming stress.
This is where FNF crossover starts. A thing I forgot to say before was that because Reader's name/title was previously The Auditor, they've chosen a new alias as a 'fresh new start' that's The Overseer. They chose The Overseer as their alias because unlike in the past, Reader will actually watch over their territory to make sure whatever happened in the past will never happen again. Also because there cant really be 2 Auditors.
(Another point is Reader still would have the [Y/n] to choose their name and a (f/c) cause Auditor Reader's red outline may or may not, depending on Reader, has also changed in correspondence with the shift in Reader as a person.)
Reader basically starts the setting for FNF called Funk City. They build the place from scratch with the help of Auditor and the other Employers which will also be added to the befriended/potential roster. This part was major inspired by a FNF Auditor Reader master list here on Tumblr so most of the storyline will also follow that in my own way of course.
As Funk City builds itself, it also finds a bunch of relations and like Daddy Dearest, Mommy Mearest, AGOTI, etc yanno? Reader had an experimental idea of adhering to some funny laws courtesy of a young DD who was a bit of a little shit when he was younger and implemented the Beat Battle Concept with the help of one of the importability drives they had which made it so almost every dispute or battle was to be settled by a Rap Battle. Reader liked it and it stayed. Besides, it attracted many people to their territory which did good for Employer Brain.
When Funk City is set and the main timeline for FNF starts, this is where the more romance shit starts. Despite it's kinda angsty and stressful beginnings, they fic has kinda turned into this funky domestic, slice of comedic life, romcom that's gotten fluff and multiverse shenanigans. Well, except for the Corruption mod I plan to do, similar to the Auditor Reader vs Corruption Mod thing, and maybe a few other shit, ey?
We have a mega SIMP Hank here, puppies Deimos & Sanford, older sibling complex Auditor, religious SIMP Jebus, pet cat-crow clown Tricky that brings random shit to Reader, Inner Momoko Hyakushiki 2BDamned, overzealous bodyguard Agent Torture, Employer's Overseer Fanclub members Stygian, Conductor, & Deliberator (& Auditor), DDLC Natsuki Phobos, shy nerd Dr. Skinner, bby boi Scrapeface, and even unfairly attractive and conspiracy worthy immortal? (dude's just severely blessed by Lady Luck) hotdog vendor/janitor that Reader kinda low-key likes and everyone else views as a rival.

The perfect DC/Marvel comic is like this
Its a batman book, the joker is killed off in the first panel and that has no meaning or repercussions over the timeline
The watchmen are a thing and Dr. Manhattan figured out a way to get rid of the whole "every moment is the present" thing. This makes it easier for the writer to write its dialogues. He is still earth-shatteringly autistic and everyone loves him for this
Also he and deadpool accidentally bond over "seeing the 4th wall". Deadpool is also buddies with moon knight. Guess what my favourite charachter is?
Good ol IRL me is there and its canon that the one time when i tried to help constantine every demon/spirit/whatever that has a stake on him was SCREAMING to him "get tf away from him not even death's gonna save you". Which i mean, rude
Welcome to the multiverse. Batman has small dick energy and superman is such a pacifist some people have trouble seeing him as anything other than "alien übermensch thats just a really nice guy and thats eat". He may be white bread but here in italy we say "buono come il pane" or "good as bread" so yeah hes a Certified Good Boy
I cannot stress enough how much unimportant is the death of the joker. He basically might as well have never existed.
Wonder Woman comes to the realization (after i confronted her about it because FFS WHY DO I HAVE TO BE THE MULTIVERSE'S BABYSITTER) that MAYBE reducing her entire power assortment to "r/TwoXChromosomes" is a bad thing both for boys AND girls alike. I know the song goes "forget your balls and grow a pair of tits" but i would instead put programs so that boys feel safe about their masculinity and girls wont have to worry about Bad People In Dimly Lit Alleys.
SCP and MONUMENTMYTHOS are referenced really tangentially. Only the wikis (official or not) aknowlegde this fully
There are at least three scenes where tony stark reads about elongated muskrat on the news. In all of them hes disappointed
He also references him appearing on big bang theory, which in THIS universe is ran by the charachters of the series as a fun class B science program that has way more audience than it should have. Sheldon met Dr. Manhattan, who described our multi-knocking boy as just like him but "less knowledgeable and more arrogant" (no fr shelly is one /gamemode 1 from becoming dr. pasadiña or whatever)
Considering this is "DC and Marvel, but Alex did his bullshit", expect dumb shit
I am introduced with a MadCom reference that is also a Courage the cowardly dog reference. KeK
The Owlman is revealed to have had a massive brain tumor that straight up removed his ability to think rationally while making him speak like his cigars are made of dictionaries
So many events from so many storylines happen all at once lol
Spidey disapproves of O'Hara. Like everyone else.
Multiple references are everywhere
There is SERIOUS PROOF that thanos accidentally something important when he was testing the infinity gauntlet, whoops!
Gamora tries to kill me after i try to roast her for how she is. She is shocked to find out that me getting Kakyoin'd did nothing but "ow"
@moringmark is referenced in a 4 panel scene in the toh universe
A cover story reveals that, on the moon, a portal opens. The portal is traversed by a shiny deoxys and many little among us crewmates. The impostors are all black (literally) (if you see racism in this, fuck you not everyone is an american cop) (on that note, watch southland) and act as guards for the group. Deoxys is in its base form
The valve universe is a thing so welcome BLU, RED, aperture and black mesa!

I am still very much alive and very much still interested in madcom, I’ve just been utter pants at writing anything new and boy do I hate it. So I let a character randomizer choose something short for me to write to get back into the groove of things and oh boy did it straight go for my poor little throat.
Sheriff x Eldritch S/O
While saying that Sheriff would have been completely fine with the first meet up is funny. Cause the man straight up fainted at the sight of what would one day be his significant other.
Not really a surprise as to why. Seeing a normal person morph into a Lovecraftian shape with countless limbs and jaws that all spoke in tongues far lost to the minds of humanity.
Once that whole world shattering realization, and subsequent toe dipping into the ever roiling madness of beyond the universe, things actually settle down quickly for this bizarre relationship.
That doesn’t mean that things go smoothly per say. But they also don’t go horribly wrong.
His partner is very very odd that doesn’t mean they don’t have some form of manners...even if said manners are a bit strange in of themselves. Like yes its proper to greet someone when you see them. On the other hand, however, it’s not proper to tell someone of whatever they’re alternate reality self from several hundred universes away is doing. Or the sheer amount of weird stuff said person has done across their multiversal lives.
It’s only proper when you’re threatening someone and want to watch them squirm please and thank you.
It takes Sheriff a good long while to get used to his friend now randomly sprouting body parts or staring off into space when they’re looking into the vastness of the breaches beyond reality.
(There has been at least one occasion where he’s walked into a room, saw them partially in their true form doing whatever it was only to be greeted with a wave and countless eyes creasing in a smile. Before just walking out pretending that that didn’t just happen. Couple goals indeed.)
They’re beyond terrifying to the cowboy...in at the beginning. Able to rip him to shreds in ways the guy couldn’t even begin to imagine. But on the other hand they get so excited about something like a toaster going off or listening to stories from his workers.
So while that primal fear doesn’t really go away it doesn’t really keep the man from falling for his companion.
There was a lot of searching on his end to try figuring out how one goes about wooing a being beyond comprehension. Most of what he found is definitely going to give him nightmares for the next couple of months thank you very much.
It all boiling over to him just blurting it out one day. Which was also the day he learned that having that many arms and arm-like protrusions made for some of the best and warmest hugs he’s had for a long while.
Which is kind of hilarious to some people who just see the Sheriff, the Law of Lawless Nevada pine after the local weirdo.
(Although some of the gifts he was given were a bit hard to look at due to whatever arcane nature about them trying to push his mind to madness; the thought was still nice. The coffee from several realities away is heavenly.)
Sheriff is now one of if not the safest person in Nevada hands down. The last guy to try and start something is still having their giblets found several weeks later. While the one before that being turned into a jabbering mess of a person that talked complete nonsense.

UMM UHHHH *gets out my madcom oc*
Tumblr media
lix! he's probably one of my more developed ones i luv him very much..... he has a sort of marking on his face because it actually can open up to reveal a portal! god i have Soooo much to talk about them its insane ahhhghghg let me cut it into sections
ability:
can open up his face to be a portal to dimensions or it can be used for storage. his storage aspect also can create things called "Voidwalkers" which is because he tends to just. put grunts in his storage as to not get attacked and they end up, if they're surviving for long enough, getting covered in black goo and look something like this
Tumblr media
lix also basically vomits them out so like you can be talking with him and then he goes "hold up-" and a grunt just comes out of his mouth and wanders off and he acts like its nothing LMAO
* the eye markings you see at the thigh can basically appear anywhere on the body, and it depends on how much they've killed in the storage area.
why he's a bunny:
i actually have a reason for this!! he was born from a different dimension, and i call his creator "ex-auditor" because they're like auditor but inverted.
Tumblr media
they live in an entire different universe, but the improbability drive was disrupting their peace so they decided to make someone to stop it- and that lad was lix. now lix was ex-audi's first creation, so he wasn't perfect in all aspects.
O YEAH ok so ex-auditor once met a lost bunny spirit in his dimension, and its super rare that anyone ever came to their area so this one was likely on accident, but they appreciated that there was at least someone kno. so that's why lix is based off of a bunny- because ex-auditor used to have a little bunny friend (also because a bunny seemed efficient in this world since it was fast and quick at escaping lol)
relationships:
SO his first relationship was with hank actually! i like to think it's because he was soft and he was useful (he also uses his storage to keep weapons, and when hank confronted him out of nowhere he got so scared he was *dropping his weapons) so internally he was like "useful kitty?? useful kitty" and then he brings him to 2bdamned and 2b is like O.O well this is Something....
so yeah he basically got all of the main 4 hearts after awhile and hes with the whole gang in one big relationship i like 2 think. but it went from hank, to 2b, then san and dei came along!
*if his emotions are extreme or he's feeling bad, his ability can't keep storing things due to less energy, so the weapons will just fall out from his face even if he doesn't want them to.
OH ALSO. he began training with the main 3 and that caused him to become decently buff! not to their level but its pretty good... he then became more of a charging straight ahead guy compared to when he was much more defensive back then so he has a couple of scars and weak spots from doing missions now ^^
uhhhhh if you wanna know more just ask! ik i have more than this but i think i've drawn this submission on for long enough XP thank you for letting me infodump!!!oh yes also if anyone wants to make a voidwalker oc feel free to there's basically no limitation to what you can do other than gooey and has a tail <3

What’s madcom au? :D
GRIPS YOU.. im so glad you asked (:
OKAY SO. the MadCom AU is basically taking all of the Hermitcraft members and dropping them in the bloodiest most fucked up environment possible (Nevada).
^that's your tl;dr. everything else will be under the cut
Xisuma in this AU created a sort of commune for people who distrusted the Agency but were not fit enough to be accepted into the Status Quo (which is where the canon cast of MadCom work. this includes Hank, 2BDamned, Deimos, and Sanford). this commune eventually turned into the Hermit Commune, and a lot of grunts flocked to it because of it's peaceful nature, and those people are the current Hermits that live inside the commune.
the Hermit Commune has been up and running for about nine years (reflecting each season of HermitCraft) as of right now, and every year they expand the commune after a short break to relax and brainstorm new ideas. everything they add onto the commune reflects roughly what the hermits have built, with a few exceptions. mob farms obviously can't exist in this universe, so really all they build are new bases that are either very close to the commune or literally built into the original structure that Xisuma had laid down himself.
despite the Hermit Commune being very passive, they still live in Nevada, and in Nevada, you need weapons. the redstoners are engineers and weapon builders. they make both swords and guns and really any machinery used to kill. Doc is especially good at it, but he hardly ever uses the weapons.
speaking of Doc! he's a MAG agent-- something made by the Agency. so is Ren :D! they're the only MAGs in the commune, and generally spend a lot of time together because of this. they were even created in the same facility! Iskall was the head scientist that overlooked the MAG Agent DOG/GOAT project, and was actually the entire reason Ren is still alive lol. Ren is a little mutated and was originally gonna be thrown out but Iskall was like "okay but he can still operate, probably better than the other one so. why throw him out lol" and everyone just sighed and said fine because he was the head scientist. Grian was also there during that time, except at that point in time he was just called The Watcher since he worked for the Employers.
long story short, Iskall eventually heard about the Hermit Commune and was like "wow this has opened my eyes to how genuinely fucked up the AAHW is... WELP TIME TO DISSENT LMAO" so he basically says fuck you to the Agency and takes the Big Guys with him, since Ren and Doc were actually considered defective since they were really passive. so Iskall kinda fucks off and Grian, being the pesky bird he is, follows suit but because of that, the Employers get pissed and try to take away his abilities. they kinda succeed, but he still has his Watcher abilities. he just can't control them like at all.
so a similar thing happens to Tango and Etho, who are both just normal agents. up until that point, they'd been living with and working for the Agency, until one day they go out on another fucking massacre mission and UH OH THEY'RE KILLING A FUCKING GROUP OF KIDS. so they kinda go "wow this is Not Okay but what do we do." so they kinda just. flee the scene and return to the Agency. eventually they catch wind of the Hermit Commune and go OH MY GOD THAT'S PERFECT. so they just run off together, leaving no trace of what happened. when they got there, they were kinda worried that they wouldn't be let in but when they walk inside they see two whole ass MAG Agents just chilling and talking casually with normal grunts and feel so much better. so they meet up with Xisuma and have to swear off violence and they're both like "already leaps ahead of you man" and Xisuma goes "awesome (: have fun fellas"
Cleo has a sort of similar experience since she's a G03LM, a product of um.. either Nexus or the AAHW. hard to remember. but either way she hears about it and is like oh boy that sounds fun and just. fucking up and leaves. since she was literally created to assist others, she mostly acted as a mock-up doctor for the entire commune. Joe eventually showed up and became her assistant and that's Hermits Helping Hermits baybeeeee
also at some point Status Quo finds out about the Hermit Commune and go to check the place out since word has been spreading about there being a lot of ex-AAHW people there. so 2b drags the guys over there and Hank spots Mumbo (he is wearing a suit. uh oh.) and they just kinda. tunnel vision. and fucking kill Mumbo in the center of the Commune and everyone's like Oh No. but once he finds out that Mumbo is not, in fact, an active agent and never has been, they calm down and don't kill any other hermits. 2B gets along really well with Xisuma and Cleo. especially Cleo, since she's got 20-ish people to look after instead of the measly four idiots that 2B has to stitch back together nearly every damn day.
and uhhhh yeah! Status Quo is pretty close with the Hermit Commune and goes there for supply runs since they have a lot of stuff there. and honestly nothing all that serious really happens in the AU except for Hank's seething hatred for Ren and Doc since they're both MAGs. that's it! that's the MadCom AU (:

-Hehe Jestr looks so cute ❤little Skrunckly do... I'm curious, how do you think someone like them would be handling having to live in nevada? We know in the madcom universe people in nevada generally aren't the nicest so I imagine someone like Jestr would probably be having a really hard time fitting in due to their size.
-This is a silly question so you can ignore it but, do any of your ocs have a crush or dating someone from the main cast? I feel like you mentioned this somewhere but idk I'm not the best at English 😅
(And just letting you know if you wanna talk about more madcom stuff with me my inbox is also open 😉)
jestr is absolutely a scrunkly do……….
JESTR ISNT ACTUALLY THAT SMALL they’re like slightly smaller than a regular grunt that drawing is just a little inaccurate 😭 like bohboh is actually the size of a half mag
The way jestr fights isn’t actually like fighting?? They have improbability on their side but not like tricky, whenever they’re around someone who wants to hurt them things immediately start going wrong for the enemy, like shelves will start falling on them, a random knife will fly at them from nowhere or maybe s boulder will fall out of the sky at them
also yeah I sure do ship them with other characters, i ship Bohboh with Tricky usually and Helios with Hank and 2b
Tumblr media
some more doodles🙌🏾
