what are your otps and notps? and why?

Baldur's Gate 3:

OTP: Wyll x Astarion. Chemistry, both have traumas, many tropes I enjoy like monster hunter x monster. They have their moments in canon too, they're clearly attracted to each other. + Astarion's line about wanting to marry a prince-like type like Wyll.

OTP: Lae'zel x Shadowheart. They are insane. Peak enemies to lovers content. They have so much tension, but they're perfect for each other. Like Shadowheart said, if they channeled all that energy into their enemies, they'd be unstoppable together. + Healer and warrior trope. Mwah.

NOTP: I don't really have one. Maybe Astarion x Shadowheart? They don't really fit together. But I don't hate it either. They're just more like gay best friends.

Genshin Impact:

OTP: Neuvillette x Furina. The angst potential of these two is crazy. Not to be obsessed but like. They spent 400 years together as the rulers of Fontaine. And now Furina thinks it's better that they don't see each other and Neuvillette is desperate to see her again. THE PINING. The misunderstandings. Furina being lonely for centuries and having only Neuvillette as her only companion but being unable to share herself completely with him because her entire nation's existence depends on it?? The grief?? And what Neuvillette must be feeling when he finds out she's sacrificed so much for her people and has had to shoulder so much by herself, an ordinary human? THE GUILT??? And after everything, she's mortal now and what if they missed their chance?? But it could also finally be their moment to be honest and real with each other and heal together. + Neuvillette giving her a vision with dragon claws.. To mark her as being beyond Celestia's clutches. Don't get me started on these two holy shit I WILL go on forever

OTP: Zhongli x Lumine. Old dragon hot. Jk I also love them for lore reasons and they'd be beautiful together.

OTP: Kaeya x Lumine. My original and first ship in Genshin. I just love them so much. I don't really have any coherent thoughts on them I just adore them together. + They're both outsiders.

OTP: Xiao x Lumine. Can you tell I play a fem traveler? Anyway. There's sooo many moments in canon where they're together and having intimate conversations. Xiao appearing only when Lumi calls for him?? "I'll do it because it's you." (paraphrasing). Xiao keeps saving her? Honestly that whole Chasm questline was so much food for us.

OTP: Raiden Shogun x Kujou Sara. Okay hear me out. The archon and her general. The deity and her worshiper. The idol and the fan. I just.... They just are so good. Sara has dedicated her whole life and herself fully to Ei. There's nothing else in her mind. She's loyal, dutiful soldier and she loves the Shogun almost to the point of obsession. That kind of love, devotion... Chef's kiss.

OTP: Cyno x Alhaitham. I like them a lot but I feel like @elbatmun would be better to explain their dynamic. I'm not super invested but going from enemies to friends to lovers is always so good.

OTP: Beidou x Ningguang. The original lesbians of this game. I mean come on. That lantern rite moment where she compliments Ningguang's looks? That moment was loaded. And even in the event going on right now, Beidou keeps her in her mind and wants to get her a potion because she has trouble sleeping.. They're so cute. + The time they traveled to Mondstadt together and went on a date to the tavern.

OTP: Clorinde x Navia. The Fontaine version of Beigguang.. Nah I mean they've got their own stories and chemistry. This is another tragic ship that has angst potential. HOWEVER, they already moved past it in canon and are now friends. So it's a friends to lovers story arc and I love it. + Protector and princess vibes.

NOTP: Wriothesley x Neuvillette. They have nothing in canon, it's just an empty ship born from people's wish to have two men together.

NOTP: Kaveh x Alhaitham. I saw the potential and I get why people ship them but it just.. something about them rubs me the wrong way. Plus the way people act like they're canon is really annoying. Honestly it sounds like they hate each other from their interactions.

I feel I should have read more fics this month but I've had 0 motivation to read fics in order. I've read loads from tumblr and twitter recs just not the ones in order. That and I was down in the very bottom of the UK working at cons.

For real though. It feels like they spent the entire first 2 seasons hinting Stiles was Bi, him flirting with Danny being a big factor and him making jokes about making out with Scott etc. Then for some reason they just completly dropped the Bi angle and he was super straight for some reason. It felt like it was no longer the character feeling comfy and joking about his sexuality to more like the show was making fun of it. For a show that claims to take place in a world without any homophobia there was a serious lack of any other relationships that wasn't straight.

The only main gay character got completely written off because they didn't know what to do with him (like how do you not know what to do with Danny) his partner disappeared and then showed up again 3 seasons later.

But I dunno it felt like you were either straight or not important to the story.

Does anyones brain do the same thing???

In my head my otps and ships don't stay the same age they age like us. the ones I've had since I was a smol have grown up and are now fully fledged adults.

Examples

KevEdd- Kevin and DD from Ed, edd n eddy, when the show came out in 1999 they were 12ish, in my head they are now 30ish?

Sterek- in season 1 Stiles was 17 and Derek was 19, my brain now thinks of them as 28 and 30?

Is this just my weird brain?

The pack we wanted in teen wolf, an easy guide.

ALPHA - Derek Hale(boy needs good things, also born werewolf and knows things)

2nd in command- Scott mccall (cause you can be the main character without being an entitled dick, also single boy needs to be single)

Emissaries- Stiles(also alpha mate and spark) & Lydia(banshee) the two of them as communication and planners would be terrifying. Lydia can be more brutal in her plans and often sometimes forgets thins, but pack mom Stiles and her husband Parrish always bring her back

BETAS- Erica, Boyd(3rd in charge I feel this goes without saying), Isaac, Jackson,Ethan, Cora, Kira(kitsune), Malia (coyote), Liam, Theo (redeemed), Mason, Corey, Parrish (hellhound), Hayden.

HUMAN ELEMENT- Allison (ex hunter) she is protective of her friends and pack. Makes sure any hunters they encounter follow the code.

Danny(hacker) finds information, gets paperwork for them, keeps them safe

Melissa(healer) looks after everyone

GUIDES - Peter hale (has no desire to be alpha again after the first time, wants the hale pack to grow and is happy to have a large family again.)

John Stilinski - will die fighting for the pack

Chris Argent - knows how to protect the pack and how to deal with enemies

Well, @angel-in-a-big-blue-box beat you to Dergent (unsurprising), but I'll do McArgent.

Ship It

What made you ship it? It was this scene, not gonna lie...

...and then THIS KISS cemented it.

What are your favorite things about the ship? I love their dynamic. They are so realistically awkward and endearing when they're attempting to flirt with each other, but then they have such a great nerds-being-nerds-together thing going on the rest of the time. Chris is so soft with Melissa, and you can tell he's afraid to pursue her - even after she kisses the crap outta him at the end of 6a - because he doesn't believe he deserves her, and it just WRECKS ME. You do, Chris. After being married to someone as cold and violent as Victoria, after everything your horrible, violent family put you through, after all the hard work you've done on yourself to change and become a better man... you deserve to be with someone who will be tender and kind and take good care of you. And after what her ex-husband put her through, Melissa deserves a man who is gentle and loyal and committed to always doing right by the people he loves. They will always put each other first, and I AM GETTING VERY EMOTIONAL RIGHT NOW. There's also a poetic beauty in the fact that, even though Scott and Allison weren't endgame (for obvious reasons), a McCall and an Argent still ended up together, and it's Melissa (who gave Scott that lovely speech about how you fall in love more than once after Allison dumped him) and Chris (who started off the series hunting Scott and threatening him for sneaking around with Allison).

As much as I go on about Dergent on this blog (and as much as I adore them), I do have an awful lot of McArgent feelings, too.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Not sure. Maybe that I like them way more than I like Scallison? Melissa is the superior McCall and Chris is the superior Argent, in my opinion. Sorry not sorry.

Multishipper Purgatory (Octopath)

I have so many ships for Octopath, I’ve got an entire armada!

And you’d think this just applies to the eight travelers and their supporting characters.  But far from it!

I’ve also taken to shipping Orsterra’s Deities because apparently I can’t get enough of this world!

My ships, as they come to mind:

The Travelers and Some of their supporting characters

Olberic/Cyrus (Also known as Eisenbright or Olberus), truly my OTP for both of them and possibly the entire game, but I am open to ship them with others if it’s a good story.

Olberic/Harald (You can’t tell me Harald wasn’t at least a little bit smitten by one of the liberators of his city.  And that Olberic wouldn’t return his gratitude in a very affectionate way if he had no one else.)

Olberic/H’annit (also known as H’annberic)

Olberic/Alfyn (Also known as Olberfyn)

Cyrus/Odette (She just knows him so well!  Too well.  But in an endearing way.)

Cyrus/Primrose (Those banters, am I right?)

(In conclusion: Cyrus needs to be paired with someone mature, who is quite direct to get past his obliviousness.)

Alfyn/Zeph (It’s so obvious but I love it.  The one waiting for you to get back home from your adventures.)

Alfyn/Ophilia (I’m pretty strongly inclined to this one.  Because I see these two finding common ground and using their combined skills to heal or otherwise help the rest of the party stay healthy.  And also as caretakers they take care of each other.  So possible OTP?  Or a very strong (good) feeling on this one anyways.)

Therion/Primrose (Possible OTP for these two?  They have shared struggles with loneliness and trust issues, not to mention ex-partner horror stories.  Over time, they warm up to each other and it’s so sweet.  Also they’re wanderers post-canon.  They definitely wander into each other, enough said.  Also, dagger couple.)

(I’m amused that both Tressa’s ships are of the Foe Yay variety.  She’s just ready to throw down lol)

Primrose/Yusufa (in a “Yusufa Lives” AU)

H’annit/Alfyn (Hunter x Gatherer, it’s actually not looking like a silly pun ship and more like something that could work because of their mutual respect for nature.)

H’annit/Therion (Hunting and thievery possibly being similar?  With traps and whatnot.)

The Gods

Brand/Alephan (basically Eisenbright Prime, but with Alephan being a tad less emotional but nevertheless still as loyal to Brand as Cyrus is to Olberic.  A Warrior and his Scholar.)

Aelfric/Dohter (essentially Alfyn/Ophilia Prime, emphasis on the two healers AoE healing everyone including themselves.)

Bifelgan/Sealtigce (Hard work + performing arts coming together as one)

Balogar/Winnehild (It was love at first sword fight.)

(Draefendi and Aeber are siblings so they are not shipped.  It’s a similar case for Dreisang and Steorra, who are the Creators but do not hold any romantic inclinations towards each other.)

Brand/Alephan (some things never change)

Balogar/Sealtigce (starts as a one-sided crush on Balogar’s part, but eventually becomes more.  They create illusions and mirages together with their magic and runes.)

Winnehild/Aelfric (In which Winnehild is willing to go on a one-deity crusade in order to protect the Flamebringer, who is the light of all hope in Orsterra.  Also Flamebringer and Warbringer?  Coincidence, I think not.)

Aeber/Bifelgan (for their spirit of competition)

Draefendi/Dohter (Hunter x Gatherer but make it in actual ancient times)

(Once again Steorra and Dreisang aren’t paired.  But they refer to the others as their kin.  In particular Dreisang is parental towards Draefendi and Alephan, but has a strained relationship with his “son” due to his experiments messing with the natural order of things and causing the old man a nasty migraine.  Thunderstorms ensue.  As for Steorra, she is big aro energy in that “when everyone else was falling in love, I was studying the stars.”)

I don’t even know where I’m going with this information.  I also realize some of my tastes may be outside what is the norm and/or popular but… I still like my shipping ideas regardless.

Note: Although this is a list of romantic ships only, there are many more platonic and family bonds I like to see between these characters and others not on this list as well. Pretty much all the travelers and Gods are Found Family in some form or fashion.

I don’t mind seeing any of these pairings listed in a platonic context.  As a matter of fact, a strong friendship is something I see as a foundation for a deeper relationship.  That being said, I’m perfectly fine with very strong platonic bonds that don’t become explicitly romantic (being AroAce) so - I’m really not picky!  I just want to see good interactions in fic and fanart.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. claire: dean giving her the impala, she and jack hunting together, more episodes of her in general, etc etc alex: if she is friends with alicia then alicia and max could teach her witchcraft and i j i just think it would be neat if she combined that and medicine and became a healer in the hunter community just saying patience: i wish missouri hadn’t died and that patience had gotten to live with her for a bit i think that would have been so good for both of them and such a compelling arc. bonus points if it was in wayward sisters and it’s a two to three episode arc where patience leaves jody’s house and jody’s internal struggle w that kaia: more development for her outside of her relationship with claire, strengthening her relationship w her new moms and remembering what it’s like to have a family, deciding what she wants to do outside of running for her life, getting up to shenanigans with jack bc they are besties yes i am i am pushing the dean-coded claire sam-coded jack cas-coded kaia agenda again tfw 3.0

hello, secret santa here! ooh I have downloaded hospital playlist but haven't watched it yet, it looks really nice! what was your favourite aspect of it? also could you tell me a bit more about what you like from Signal, Healer, Chicago Typewriter, Age of Youth, City Hunter ? I've been told these were your favourite dramas and I've only watched healer and age of youth from them (and I loved them, they're btoh very different but so well written and acted!) so I'd love to read your thoughts!

I was pleasantly surprised by hospital playlist. Normally I dislike medical type dramas, but this one was amazing in that the medical stuff was really an opportunity to learn about the characters and their relationships, and the whole show really focused on showing the good side of humanity in the midst of a setting where death and illness predominate. The characters and relationships are fantastic.

Signal- holy carp, everything about it is perfect. I’ve noticed that when time travel(ish) is done well, it can be one of my favorite things. Signal has a clever premise and really delivers. It is nonstop with the twists and turns in the plot, and also has very lovable characters. I’m looking forward to season 2!

Healer- the otp has to be one of my favorites ever. I love Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young in this, and their characters are so great. All of the actors and characters are great too. The plot is really solid and balanced action, romance, comedy, and drama really well.

Chicago Typewriter- my favorite historical (adjacent) drama. Characters and plot are great, but what ultimately gets me is the juxtaposition between modern day and during the Japanese occupation. It really highlights the price of freedom, and how fortunate it is that the characters in the modern day don’t have to worry about the things they had to in the past.

Age of Youth- my girls!!! They all have my heart. I really enjoy shows that are more female centered and focus on female friendships. The show is a little weird but I love it for that. Some of the couples are absolutely fantastic as well.

City Hunter- was like my third kdrama ever. It’s kinda... 2011 (some of the romcom aspects are a bit dated) but holy carp the plot is so good. The action is fantastic and the plot twists at the end are great. I love the main villain in this too, and the romance ain’t half bad either (it’s very Romeo and Juliet). It’s very similar to Healer (and they both have Park Min Young in them lol).

The Autumn Watchlist

1. Melting Me Softly (starts September 28) | teaser

My feelings about this drama kept constantly changing in the past months. At first, I had been excited about the collab between Ji Chang Wook (HEALER FOREVER!), the SWDBS writer and the Secret Garden PD. Then, they announced Won Jin Ah to be the female lead and my excitement dropped by a notch because I belonged to those who weren’t impressed by her performance in Just Between Lovers and even the first teasers left me with mixed feelings. However, a few days ago the long trailer dropped and I’m fully on board and halfway in love with the show. It has the trademark writing of Baek Mi Young, JCW is epic as ever and WJA seems to hold her own against him and furthermore, they both share amazing chemistry and have a huge potential as the two people who get together stuck/frozen together in time while the whole world passes them by, only to wake up and realize that 20 years have gone by. They have not only to face the same challenges of dealing with the consequences but also their own physical condition as they must maintain a core body temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius which in the era of global warming might not be the easiest thing to do, plus I can think of several physical activities when...

2. The Tale of Nokdu (starts September 30) | teaser 01, teaser 02, teaser 03

There is nothing new about a crossdressing kdrama, not even a sageuk one, but a man, and one of the best swordmen in Joseon to boot, doing the undercover crossdressing is something completely special. Moreover, he even poses as a widow and has all the men swooning over him and wooing him. With Joseon Marriage Agency being such a huge letdown for me, I have high hopes for this one. One of the writers is responsible for Love in the Moonlight and I think The Tale of Nokdu might maintain the magic which LitM lost the moment it got lost in the political mess. I like KSH very much and Jang Dong Yoon looks like he is having the time of his life playing the crossdressing nobleman.

3. Extraordinary You (starts October 2) | teaser

A high-school student from a wealthy family who suffers from a lifelong heart condition that inevitably means she will not live past her teenage years suddenly realizes that  she is a character in a Korean webtoon and all of her actions are predetermined by the artist who draws her. If her luck weren’t bad enough she also discovers she is only a supporting character so she decides to change her own plotline. This might end up being either slapstick awesome with all the possibility for kdrama references and making fun of all the clichés or utter mess. I hope for the first.

4. My Country (starts October 4) | teaser

What can I say? It looks like my dream sageuk - gritty, complex, dark and absolutely visually stunning plus it boasts some stellar cast. Also I don’t know how but for some reasons the drama is giving me Slave Hunter vibes - maybe because of the slave element, overall grittiness and JH being all intense and the main lead’s look reminding me a little bit of JH’s character in Slave Hunters.

5. TharnType The Series (starts October 7) | teaser 01, teaser 02

I can’t even describe how much I’m excited for this one. Type, the dark, tall and handsome freshman is homophobic because he was molested by a man as a child. His life turns up side down when the new year of college brings along a very interesting person in his life, a gay roommate, Tharn. Tharn, is a very handsome music major with fair skin and mixed features who is openly gay. Type is a minor character who had a minor role in another favourite Thai BL drama of mine, Love by Chance. At first, I was disappointed they didn’t cast the original actor; however, I have to say I have never been more happy to be proven wrong because the actors playing Type and Tharn have without a doubt the most awesome chemistry between all the couples in the upcoming BL Thai shows, only comparable with Pete and Kao.

6. Dark Blue Kiss (starts October 12) | teaser

PETE AND KAO!!! I’ve been waiting for this drama for a year now! To be honest, I don’t really care for the secondary couple I just want to watch Pete and Kao being utterly perfect for each other.

7. Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai (starts October 12) | teaser

It’s been ages since I enjoyed a jdrama and I hope Ikuta Toma changes it as the failed 31 year-old NEET living with his mother.

8. HIStory3: Make Our Days Count (starts October 16) | teaser

Another installment of the successful HIStory franchise. Crossing Boundary is with Together With Me my favourite BL drama of all time and I can’t wait for the movie. On the other hand, Trapped was a mild disappointment for me because somewhere in the middle the writer gave up any pretense that there was actually any plot and the only reason I kept watching until the end was the OTP. Make Our Days Count is a BL high school love story between two polar opposites - the bookish Yu Xi Gu who prefers to keep a low profile and focus on his schoolwork and the outgoing, hot-headed extravert and some-time bully Xiang Hao Ting. I’m not even ashamed to admit I love these kind of stories.

9. Motokare Mania (starts October 17)

If it’s been ages since I enjoyed a jdrama, it’s been an eternity since I liked a jdrama rom-com - not since Suki na Hito ga Iru Koto and From Nine to Five. I don’t really expect Motokare Mania to change that but a girl can still hope.

10. Emergency Lands of Love (starts November 23 December 7 14)

Hyun Bin + Son Ye Jin + a romance between a stranded SK heiress and NK military officer + the YWCFAS writer = I’m on board.

11. Until We Meet Again The Series (starts November 9) | teaser

A reincarnation BL love story between two lovers with tragic past who end up being reborn and get the chance to be together.

5. Who is always befriending animals?

I feel like this is canonically Scott, but Isaac strikes me as the type who goes around petting every dog and cat he sees, especially after Deaton shows him how to take the dying dog's pain at the end of Season 2. Sometimes he shows up at the animal clinic when Scott's not there because he's feeling particularly restless and just... wants to help someone or something so badly, but Derek nobody is doing anything useful, and Deaton lets him take the pain of whichever animal is in worst shape at the moment because he recognizes that hunger in Isaac, that need to feel like he's making a difference. When Chris and Isaac go to France, there's a cat that sits sunning itself in the window of the boulangerie they frequent. One day, the shop owner comes running out screaming that the cat has been hit by a car. Chris offers to drive the wounded animal to the local clinic, and, on the way, Isaac cradles the cat in his arms, taking her pain. The cat survives, and every time they visit the cafe after that, the cat sits in Isaac's lap and purrs while they drink their coffee and eat their croissants together. The shop owner insists that the cat NEVER does that with anyone else but her daughter, the cute French girl who works there after school, and Isaac eventually asks the girl out, and THAT IS WHY HE DOESN'T RETURN TO BEACON HILLS WITH CHRIS IN S4 OKAY, DO NOT TOUCH ME I AM EMOTIONAL.

I feel like Stiles and Derek would be the most comical, mostly because the two of them are already so slap-stick comical together, but also because HELLO TOTALLY DIFFERENT BODY TYPES. I'm just imagining Stiles doing flips off of buildings and stuff whilst yelling, "PARKOUR!" with an increasingly winded and infuriated Derek chasing him, shrieking, "STILES, I SWEAR TO GOD... IF YOU DO ANY PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY BODY, I WILL WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE BACK IN YOURS, AND THEN I WILL KILL YOU."

The Argent-McCall Halfway House for Homeless Teens. Someday I will write that fic... but it is not this day, lol.

Peter. Oh my goodness. Even when he was a child himself, he was an absolute terror with the other children. He definitely played some horrible pranks on his little cousin Derek which got him in BIG trouble with Talia. 😬 One time, he played "hide and seek" with 5yo Derek and, as a joke, left him in an abandoned coyote den in the middle of the forest. It took Talia and the rest of the family almost 24 hours to find him... after they realized he was lost. (Peter waited a good 4 or 5 hours before coming home, claiming that Derek wandered off while they were hunting for rabbits. When Talia discovered the truth, her entire pack had to hold her back and prevent her from doing her brother severe bodily injury. She wouldn't speak to Peter for weeks afterwards.)

I see Stiles and Lydia as being exceptionally mushy... buuuut it's almost entirely from Stiles' end. 😆 I mean, this is the guy who showed up at Lydia's house for her 16th birthday party with a beautifully wrapped box so big it barely fit through the door... and that was back before they were together, when he just had an unrequited crush on her. You think this guy is gonna rein it in now that they're in a relationship? Pfft. Nope. Stiles "Go Big or Go Home" Stilinski goes all out, all the time. Lydia pretends to be embarrassed by his romantic antics, but she secretly adores them, even if she would never admit as much to anyone. The one time he goes the subtle-but-sentimental route is when he proposes, and he does so by wrapping a green string around her ring finger ("green for solved"). Lydia refuses to take it off until he buys her an actual engagement ring, and then she has the green string set in a locket, so she can wear it always as a reminder that Stiles will never give up on her, leave her behind, or forget her. Even after he develops dementia later in life, the green string always brings him back to her... OMG, NOOOOO. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??? Oh, wait... *I* did that. *slaps hand* DAMMIT, ME.

In terms of canon couples? I'd be willing to bet that Chris and Victoria were preeeetty kinky. (That woman was 100% a dominatrix. Sorry, I don't make the rules.)
