I have two Reborn self-inserts, but Adri is my main one, so I'll use her for these if that's okay!

3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self-insert? - I like to think of Adriana as quite well-liked! She's naturally more on the quiet side, so not everyone would necessarily be particularly close with or similar to her, but I do think the majority of the cast would find her to be pleasant and easy to get on with. She carries herself politely and sensibly, so even those who don’t know her would also likely see her as someone nice.

The only slight exception may be that, as the story proceeds, she starts to gain more of a.. spectral presence, in the same way that standing right next to a Ghost-type Pokémon might make you feel. This can be quite unsettling, at least in certain moments, but not everyone notices it (and those who do but also know Adri often think it clashes a bit with how she comes across, which makes it a bit easier to not think about).

(As an interesting extra - while she is of course very against Team Meteor's harmful plans for Reborn, there is nevertheless a level of.. respect in more of the honour sense? that comes about between her and Solaris (the team’s leader). In a prior turn of events, she was able to bring his signature Garchomp to heel atop Pyrous Mountain, and while I don’t think she’s the one to pull this off in the current/played timeline, he nevertheless remains someone who respects her ability, even though the two are on completely opposite sides - to almost more of an extent than other characters, considering Solaris’ family has long protected the citadel of Arceus whereas Adriana takes up the power of Reborn’s Giratina).

4. would you be considered a main character, side character, villain, or something else? - I would say Adriana first comes across as a side character, from the logic that the player is really the sole main character (apart from.. maybe Lin and Anna??). However, I would argue that she eventually occupies a closer position to that of the main character than any other non-player character in the game, given that she was the main character, just- in the second timeline, which is the one before the game as it is played. Even so, she experiences quite a bit of the game’s story alongside the player because her journey across Reborn mirrors theirs, so she’s possibly the closest to how official Pokémon game rivals tend to end up?

16. freebie! name a fact about your self-insert you want everyone to know. - If you were to battle Adriana during the main game, her Trainer title would be “Soul-touched”, which is also what I use as her tag here on this blog. However, in the postgame, her title changes to “Shadow Champion” to reflect the new position she earns ‑ Adri is the first person to reach the Hall of Fame after the player, and so because the player wasn’t there at the time to battle her (which could have let her replace them as the Champion if she’d won), she instead was made their reserve/second for any future potential Champion battles. In the previous timeline, her Trainer title was slightly different, being “Resolute Spirit” instead of “Soul-touched”!

Sexuality Headcanon: Asexual panromantic! I'm not really sure where this came from (not that these headcanons have to come from anywhere), but it's just what I've had and still have in mind for her. Gender Headcanon: I adopted this one from you, but: nonbinary woman! I imagine that gender for the Machina is very different to how it is for (say) Homs or High Entia, but I would say this is the most fitting description for her in my view too, now~ A ship I have with said character: It does just say a ship, not my favourite or the best ship or anything, so.. I feel less biased saying my own between her and my self-insert Citri, hehe. It's still to this day one of very few selfships I've actually commissioned art for, and even though i haven't had much chance to develop it since it's been a while since I've experienced anything to do with XC1, I do still think it's neat if I do say so myself! ^-^ (If my selfship doesn't count, then.. I really like the idea of her and Melia!) A BROTP I have with said character: I think the dynamic between her and Lady Meyneth is really really interesting, and I'd like to explore it/see it explored more! A NOTP I have with said character: Egil. That's her brother. No. (I would give an actual okay ship, but I'm not actually that familiar with who people have tried to ship her with outside of the more-plausible-to-me options, oops) A random headcanon: I cannot remember if the Bionis has tigers (or creatures like them), but if it does, I can imagine she would be quite fond of them if ever she encountered one, given how her own markings and overall colour scheme match them a bit! I think it's cool to think about what she might think of the Bionis and its life, should she get a chance to see any of it. General Opinion over said character: Vanea my appreciated!! I feel like she is very underrated, which is maybe because the game doesn't explore her character to as much of an extent as it could, but I really wish it did! While I've still yet to actually play XC1 myself, and it's been a long time since I interacted with its canon in any regard (by watching a playthrough of it or anything), it is still a game I think of fondly, and I'm glad that my romantic attachment to Vanea allows me a way to connect with it more concretely/within a pre-existing context, despite not having played it!

I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

so like, i don’t think pope is one for pda at all, but when it comes to your baby bump he can’t keep his hands to himself. he’s always standing next to you with an arm wrapped around your waist, hand trailing under the hem of your shirt to feel the swell of your skin. driving with one hand on the wheel, the other extended to the passenger seat with his hand on your stomach. it was a casual act of protection. he wouldn’t let anything happen to either of you, always keeping you within arms reach. but there’s also a part of him that just likes seeing the way your body is changing, being able to feel it under his fingertips. knowing that you’re growing another life in your body. a baby. his baby.

he just can’t get over the fact that you chose him— that you want to start a family with him. he can’t wrap his mind around the idea that he’s going to be a dad. it scares the shit out of him. in fact, after seeing the positive pregnancy test, he’s spent almost every single night staring at the ceiling, terrified of fucking everything up. having a baby is the ultimate offer of unconditional love, one that he doesn’t think he’s deserving of.

but then he’s sitting with you on the couch, watching a movie while you doze off in his arms. you’re fast asleep and his hand is in its usual position, resting underneath the material of your shirt, palm against your stomach, guarding gently over his two girls. he’s watching the screen with heavy eyelids. then he feels it. a gentle flutter underneath his fingertips. his brows furrow, and he sits up ever so slightly wondering if his mind is playing tricks on him, only to feel a more definite movement. a kick. and then another.

he’d never felt her move before. this was the first time, and it was like she could sense him there, pushing against his hand to remind him it was all real. the love in his life— the security of his own little family. he immediately smiled down at the skin underneath his hand. you were still asleep despite the excitement in your belly. it was just him and her, sharing a moment together between the warmth radiating at his palm and her subtle jab of recognition. a moment of pure connection with his daughter. the first of many.
