He was instantly grateful that you took him in once the storm was starting to make it unbearable to find his way back

So much so that he had to show his thanks in one of the only ways he could- by making curry and coffee

It started with him just cooking for you, and you taking care of whatever sickness he got by being out in the cold for too long

And eventually it turned into you joining him in the kitchen and cooking along side him

And then eating on the couch together…and cuddling to “stay warm”

…and then sleeping on the bed together because the coffee wasn’t enough

Once the storm is over and Akira is free to leave, he does leave your place for a little while

But that isn’t to say you’ve left his mind- au contraire

Let’s just say homeboy sends the next weeks months arranging for you to come visit him instead

After all, you did something incredibly nice for him- so the least he could do was make the night he finally asks you special

The two of you hit it off right away

Like you were the nice, sweet girl in the random cabin in some random ass swedish looking chalet…how could she not like you?

As you both were waiting for the storm to blow over, the two of you got to talking a lot

And as the storm got worse and the house started to get a little colder (cough, cough did someone turn the heat off? hehe) the two of you started to get a little bit more cuddlier

And soon enough, the two of you were attached hip to hip

Once the storm blew over, Ann stayed for a little while longer

In fact, the only thing that got you two to leave your house once the blizzard ended was the fact that you were running low on food

So of course, Ann had to buy you groceries afterwards as a thank you…….as well as take you out to lunch too

Maybe to other people, asking out a person to who had you had only met a couple days prior would be way too fast

But to Ann? Something about just felt too right

Goro Akechi

He’s reluctant to accept your kindness at first

After all, he’s famous and has a lot of enemies at the same time- anything to happen

But you were just so soft and gentle with him

When you were running around your house, gathering supplies to warm him up after he had been stuck in the blizzard for so long, it made him think of his mom

And so slowly, he softened up and allowed you to take care of him

When finally he left your place after the blizzard passed, he tried to forget about you- tried

But his mind just kept coming back to you- to someone who unselfishly took care of him

So it was only natural that he finally sent a text to you about taking you out somewhere nice as “payment” for what you’ve done for him … and that your first kiss with him happened on that night too

Besides, Goro doesn’t get to hang around angels all too often in his life of work

So there was no way he could let you go a second time- no when you’ve already saved him once <3

As the leader of the Phantom Thieves, Akira is busy preparing for heists and fighting Shadows. But not just for being a leader of a mysterious infamous group, he’s busy everywhere. Ranking up confidants, fusing Personas, stocking supplies, studying, Akira’s been dealt with a lot of responsibilities since he got to Tokyo.

Eating at Big Bang Burger all the time and doing those challenges isn’t healthy on a regular basis. He does eat out with the team and his confidants sometimes. And Sojiro does cook breakfast for him on occasion.

But he will have a tendency to overwork himself and forget his own needs. He’s also taking care of Morgana, another mouth to feed besides himself. During lunchtime, Akira would either share his meal or just give it to Morgana.

Though since Morgana is known to keep track of his bedtime, the cat will make reminders for him to eat. The talking feline does pride himself for being responsible.

But you making food for him will send his heart soaring. He’s a lanky male, not too thin, but not so muscular, so he could still go for some more meat in his bones. It’s not only a sweet gesture but also an efficient way to help feed your hardworking boyfriend. He may even blush a little from the adoring sentiment.

Making bentos for him? Touching. Making matching bentos for the two of you? Adorable. Especially if you’re putting great details in the lunches, like making cute faces in the shape of animals and such. Akira will tease that it looks far better to admire, but he’ll happily finish the bento until there’s nothing left. He’s never been a picky eater so he’s open to try anything you make.

Learning about your cooking skills definitely impresses him. Akira likes to improve his own culinary abilities. Working with Sojiro behind the counter helped him discover that passion. So being a phenomenal cook, he’d gladly ask for tips and advice once in a while.

Akira finds himself astounded that someone like him, someone carrying a false criminal record serving probation in an unfamiliar place alone, could have such a loving girlfriend caring for him. He always makes sure to not let you forget his own affections and how much everything you do means.

It becomes a routine for you two to meet up at lunchtime and eat together. Sitting side by side closely, across with legs touching. There’s no doubt that Akira will happily reciprocate in taking turns making meals for you both. A good way to practice his cooking skills despite his busy schedule. If you were to ever be unable to make it, Akira will feel your absence greatly.

Breakfast? Probably best to have something easier to eat as you walk to Shujin side by side on weekdays. It is true as they say that to a person’s heart in general is through the stomach. If you stopped by carrying food filled containers to eat at LeBlanc, Sojiro has no problem with it. He does agree that Akira should be mindful of eating. Depending on if said containers are washable, he’ll let you keep them at the café until you take them back.

Feeding each other is a thing in private. When no one is there, Akira will offer a piece of food to your lips, expression cheeky. It’s something you’d only do behind closed doors.

And in reverse, he’s happy to welcome a spoonful from you. Wiping a stain on his mouth gets him a bit bashful. A napkin? Cute. Your own tongue? Now his face got even redder.

But beware, the leader of the Phantom Thieves has tricks up his sleeve. He’ll reciprocate the action in a sneaky way to tease back.

Dates spent cooking and eating together is very domestic and wholesome. Trying new recipes, sharing some, it’s a lovely way to spend time with one another. Though you’d probably spend that in your home rather than his. Because as nice as the coffee and curry is at the café, you’d have more privacy and space to work on. Akira always has a look in his eyes when he gazes upon you, so much so it makes you bashful every time you see it.

Food turns into a new love language between you.

And once you become adults? Naturally, living together is expected after the deepening of your relationship growing from being high school sweethearts. Cooking together becomes a real staple in your household. Working different jobs may not always let you cook together, but having the thoughtfulness of making food for the other is still as meaningful.

More fanart of the lovely Marigolds fanfic by Colbub! They characterize Joker and Akechi both so well it makes my heart start again ughghhhhh. It's basically a time travel fix it fic but it's Akechi who knows how the first loop went! I highly reccomend it, it's fantastic.

MY ONGOING RECS Again, I don't read a lot of ongoing works (although, admittedly more than in the past) and these are the ones I'm subscribed to that I'm adoring!

The Lovers, Reversed by salexectria, Terra5 (E) | Royalty a/b/o AU | akeshu | series in three parts, ongoing "A Thief is caught stealing from the Northern King, and is sentenced to death for his crimes. The Alpha Prince intervenes, but at what cost to them both?" What I love about this AU is the amount of politics and worldbuilding put into it, as well as the uniqueness of double povs who constantly switch from Akira to Goro creating one back and forth that acts literally like poking into their minds. Plus the slow burn and the pining are just on point.

never die when I'm dead by threerings (E) | Royal & post-Royal | akeshu | series in 2 parts, ongoing Two one shots featuring one of my absolute flavors of this ship: sad, intense and unhinged

Please let teq bring you through a journey of spot-on characterization and stunning prose that will rewire your brain chemistry completely. Their take on machiavellian Akechi is really good, and the snark Akira spits in this fic is really something I cherish.

kiss & cry by MajorGodComplex (T) | Figure skating AU | shuakeshu | 2 chapters "Goro’s first thought when he hits the ground is some combination of the words ‘shit fuck hell fucking bullshit bitch fuck motherfucking hell.’ His next thought is wondering whether Akira Kurusu, senior debut, constant thorn in Goro’s side, and the only person anyone this season seems to talk about, is also trying to land a quad axel at the moment." I don't know what to tell you, the prose of this one is so witty and funny you just have to read what's published of it as of now!

honeybrains by succubused (T) | Time loop | shuakeshu | 4 chapters "a chronicle of the twenty-fourth time akira kurusu lived through the month of january 2017" What can I say, I am really a sucker for time loops and this fic took me by the heart. Tagged as character study and with rights because the characterization here is very interesting!

in the snow globe by aminami (E) | Time travel | shuake | 1 chapter "It’s your heart,” Joker says like it’s the most obvious thing. “Your desires, your hopes, your fears. I’ll carry them with me always. My little snow globe." This fic will hurt you so badly but it will be so worth it, I swear. It's just so melancholic and tender and angsty and it carved a place in my heart.

my love has never lived indoors by rhodophytae (E) | a/b/o | shuake | 1 chapter "Ren Amamiya knows he's an alpha, and he's comfortable with that, but he's pretty sure that being an alpha is, well...different for him than it is for other people. He resigned himself a long time ago to the fact that he'd probably go his whole life without finding anyone else like him. And then he meets Goro Akechi." This fic has such an interesting take on omegaverse! Paired with a stellar characterization and delicious pining, it's no surprise it's a fic I will never forget.

GENERAL RECS The fics I’ve enjoyed the most and that I go back to reading sometimes.

how joker and crow survived the coronavirus pandemic of 2020 by shntlvs (T) | Royal | shuakeshu | series of 2 works "Escaping from Maruki's false reality gets interrupted by the Coronavirus pandemic." Could you have ever imagined reading a fic centered around the pandemic? Me neither, but this one and its sequel work so well and have very compelling bits of characterization for the boys. Unexpected premise, but I utterly loved it.

straw house, straw dog by caelam (T) | 3rd sem | gen | one shot "In the saccharine utopia of Maruki’s reality, Goro Akechi’s mother is still alive." I admittedly don't read too many fics with mamakechi so I won't claim to be an expert, but this one really left me impressed with how clear and tangible the tangle of feelings is.

Knight of Pentacles, King of Spades by Naometry (M) | Medieval AU | shuakeshu | 11 chapters "“Hifumi passed on your greetings,” Akira Kurusu says, fury simmering beneath his conversational tone. “And I’m polite enough to give you my own in person. So greetings, General Goro Akechi. I am the man who will kill you.”" I started reading this fic for the war captive trope but this story has so much more to it than just that. Nao's superb skill with writing violence and viciousness will have you thrust into a cruel world where two boys seem to be bound to kill each other... unless?

Ripples by Riona (T) | gen | canon compliant | one shot "Ten people know exactly who the news is talking about, and now they’re going to have to deal with that." A peek into the heads of 10 of Joker's confidants upon learning about his death. The fic I would never imagined myself reading, but I did because it was recced to me, and now I'm recc'ing it to you, too.

When Your Eyes Meet Mine by seths_dream (E) | no powers AU | shuake | one shot "The way the bellboy lingered on him made his heart jolt, made him think that maybe, maybe the bellboy was looking at Goro the same way Goro was looking at him." I've lost count of how many times I read this fic because the horny is just so juicy, it's unironically one of the fics I come back to when I need to remind myself how to write horny stuff. (the same author also wrote this delicious pegoryu that you have to read)

a study in what not to say by succubused (T) | 3rd sem | shuake | one shot "Akira has finally had enough of Akechi's bullshit; they resolve it the only ways they know how." If you like the boys being really nasty to each other, this fic is a must. It has excellent dialogue, dynamics, and a tad of homoerotic wound tending which can't hurt no one!

MY ALL-TIME FAVOURITES The fics that rewired my brain chemistry, took my heart out, slapped it, put it back, and left me a whole new person.

27 steps to seduce a crow by relationshipcrimes (G) | Royal | shuakeshu | one shot "A handy bullet-pointed list on how to flirt with, seduce, and keep your local Akechi Goro." Still to this day, I think of this fic in terms of Goro's characterization. If I have a thing for post-canon shuake chasing each other, it's probably due to this one.

The Brigverse by TzviaAriella (E but most works are M) | Pirates AU | akeshuake | series, ongoing I admittedly don't care that much about pirates but the og fic from this series (A Brig Too Far) was being passed on so much that I gave it a try and. Oh boy. Not only is the characterization impeccable, the story compelling, and the action thrilling, but at least one scene and/or line from each work in this series has altered my brain permanently. I am a new person after reading Brigverse.

wild and free by bangandawhimper (E) | a/b/o | shuakeshu | one shot "Akira Kurusu hasn’t always been an omega. But now everyone he meets in this city assumes he’s an omega. He’s treated like an omega. He feels like an omega. He knows he feels like an omega because he remembers what it was to be an alpha." This work might have my favourite take ever on shuakeshu omegaverse, it's so fitting for them, so thought out, and the characterization is so on point... my god. Read this fic now.

The Diamond Chest by kinneas (E) | post-Royal | shuakeshu | 3 chapters, complete "Who says you have to see Morgana speak in the Metaverse before you can hear him in the real world? Not the few hundred officers who arrested Ren in Sae’s Palace two years ago, that’s for sure." Honestly everything kinnes writes is gold but I'm shouting this fic out because I reread more than a few scenes from this fic more than once, and it's a 100k-words baby. I am a sucker for heist stories, I am a sucker for dealing with trauma in very tangible ways, and I'm a sucker for kinneas' characterization of the boys.

before midnight by specterthief (Not rated) | 3rd sem, canon compliant | gen | one shot "“I—” Swallowing past the lump in her throat, Sumire sets down her chopsticks and rubs her face with both hands. “Um—who told you I was going to training camp?” (On January 9th, Sumire goes home.)" This is the stellar Sumire characterization fic you're looking for. Read this. Read this right now.

Containment Breach by salexectria (E) | Space pirates AU | akeshu | one shot Akira gets stranded on an abandoned spaceship seemingly infested by a terrifying creature. He finds the lonely survivor of the crew and they begrudgingly start to work together to contact help and survive. I am just going to say that I clicked for salex's name, I stayed for the stellar characterization, pining and top-tier bantering, and got overwhelmed by the tentacle sex. (/pos)

it takes two by lumensd (E) | 3rd sem | akeshu | two-shots By all means, this series has some things I usually am not interested in (phone sex, degradation) but Jay is so skilled and his akeshus are so fucked in the head that now I've signed up for the masochist Joker agenda. Hurray!

i dream of you draped in wires by rime (E) | 3rd sem | akeshu | one shot "Maruki's Shadows don't want to fight; they just want to collect data. Wait, are those cat ears?" You would think a work with the tag "catboy shibari gunplay fuckordie" can't be too serious. Wrong! Excellent character study attack 🔪🔪🔪 (from the same author there's also this P5 vanilla fic that is excellent)

The streets were your home and starvation was your companion. Crime is an everyday necessity, from petty crimes to thievery, you did it all.

“You’ll live a lavish life, you will get your three meals a day. But you will do everything I order, do you accept?” 

So when an opportunity to get out of this shitty life, you took it immediately without thinking. Anything to sleep without having to worry about yourself being unsafe. Anything to have food on the table.

You did a lot of things for them too. Like instigating mental shutdowns and collecting connections like it's that one franchise. The latest job you completed was dismantling a company, at first you were kind of intimidated. But after kissing up to the higher-ups, you managed to turn the company against each other, ruining the company in the process within six months.

It was… hard at first. Not because of the corrupt adult but because of the younger kids who were involved because they were family. You always thought that maybe if you intervened a little bit, the kids could avoid their downfall but those stupid adults chose to involve their children. You gave up, you let them get consumed by their greed and begrudgingly didn’t bat an eyelash to the children who were in misery.

It ruined their livelihoods, you watched as the children got tossed onto the streets never seeing them again. Anger filled you but you held your tongue, you had to, anything to not live like that ever again. Even if it means sacrificing your humanity, you’ll do anything.

You didn’t like him. Partly due to the fact that he’s quite skilled with his personas and that he’s the first persona user that you need to get rid off. But the main reason is because of his resilience.

How are you able to smile with your friends, knowing that people gossiped behind your back?

Why are you fighting against the stronger opposing power?

“Why are you so nice to me?” The words you’ve been itching to speak out finally escaped from your mouth.

He raised his eyebrows, confused about your sudden question and you already regret opening your mouth now.

“Sorry, weird question. Don’t mind that.” You stood up abruptly, digging through your bag for cash.

“Because you’re dear to me.”

After that day, you tried your best to avoid the raven-haired boy. Swerving to the other direction whenever you see him. Completely ignoring Phantom Thieves meetings unless necessary. You just can’t face him, who was so kind, and you whose hands are stained with blood.

Your phone vibrated, indicating that the gc was alive again and you sighed tiredly. Turning your phone into silent mode isn’t the best idea since you don’t know when he would call and order you to do something. You admit defeat and just placed your phone away and examined your surroundings.

For some reason, this place gave you nostalgia but not the good one. Your heartbeat picked up when you catch a glimpse of that familiar alley. 

Someone called your name and you froze in fear, your heart feels like it's coming out of your throat. The one responsible stood in front of you, unaware of your inner dilemma.

“I knew it! It wasn’t you who did it, papa said you were a wolf in sheep’s clothing but I knew he was wrong!”

Your mouth opened but no words came out.

Run. That was the only thing your guilt-ridden mind could, so you did. Ran until your legs felt like it was burning, you tripped multiple times opening fresh wounds on your legs but that didn’t stop you.

The only thing that stopped you was when you bumped into someone particularly hard that you thought would send both of you tumbling to the floor but surprisingly they managed to catch you upright.

Apologies spilled from your lips, only stopping when the arms that held you up wrapped around you and you gasped, looking up immediately. Eyes widening when yours meets his worried ones and you break.

“I’m sorry!”

“I’m sorry.” You suddenly blurted out without looking away from the scene in front of you and he turned to you, confusion painted on his face.

“I know you accept me for who I am but I’ve done horrible things.” He tensed up when he realized what you were implying and you smiled, proud that he was so smart to understand you immediately. A few steps, that was the only thing you could do before he pulled you into his embrace.

His chest pressed onto you, his heartbeat beating so loud that you could feel it pulsing on your skin. Before you could actually lose your will, you forced yourself to look at him, your hand cradling his face and he welcomed it like a fish who was left out of the water for long.

“Thank you for giving me a chance to live freely. But I have to atone for my sins.”

Your thanks didn’t deter him from letting you go so you did the last resort.

You tipped forward, your lips meeting his for a second which surprised him, loosening his hold on you for a second and you used it to push him hard. 

For the last time, you ran. But this time not to his arms but to your demise.

Unsheathing your pistol, you aimed it at the button that would separate the two of you forever. You glanced at him, whispering your last words to him, praying that somehow, somehow he would understand it like he always did.

“Thank you for loving me.” And you shoot.

Your family will be charmed by him, that’s for sure

Your family is gonna think he’s real handsome and they’re gonna say he sounds real smart and polite

Might be a little blunt when telling him to speak up when his accent gets in the way of him speaking English but they’re impressed by how fluent he is

And you know someone is gonna say “Damn, and I can barely speak English!”

At the table, someone (probably Mom or Grandma or even Auntie) is trying to fix his plate

“Just point at what you want baby, I’ll get it for you” type beat

Of course, he’s a bit overwhelmed and culture-shocked- America is a very different place from Japan after all

But with your help and with how excited and welcoming your family actually is, he gets comfortable relatively quickly

And it feels like there’s never a dull moment while he’s with you and your family in the states

Just don’t tell them he was on probation- that’s a whole can of worms you don’t want to mess with

Ann Takamaki

First thing you’re gonna hear when the food gets set out and everyone starts fixing plates is “Eat baby, you’re too skinny”

Now of course, you know that you and Ann are both perfectly fine the way you two look but…

Ann canNOT say no to all the homecooked meals in front of her so she’s more than ready to let everyone pile a little bit of what they want her to try 

When she talks to your family in English, everyone is just floored by how different she sounds because of the accent change

And they all want to know all about her parent role in the fashion world and her job as a model

Naturally, there are gonna be a few people upset to hear how she had spent so much time alone as a kid but they remedy that by saying she’s always welcomed back anytime she wants

Pretty much, your family lowkey adopted her

Out of everyone, Ann is able to take this experience in stride the most since she has experienced so many different cultures while she moving around when she was younger

And her personality makes her so easily liked and well-received that it’s just a good experience all around

Especially when Auntie brings out dessert and lets Ann have the first piece

Goro Akechi

Oh they’re IMPRESSED by him

Highschool detective? Making his own money? And he’s handsome?

All around the table, people are gonna be asking him questions about his job and how much money he makes and all that

And they’re gonna be hanging onto his every word so much that food goes cold

And when Goro accidentally lets it slip that he’s an orphan with the shittiest absent-tee father in the world?

You know everyone and their momma are gonna start hollering and getting mad for him

All the while Grandma is shaking her head and piling a mountain of food on his plate like he’s suddenly one of her grandkids

Of course, he’ll gonna be a bit unsure of all this affection- he grew up without it and Japanese culture is just so different from all this

But he eventually warms up to it all and finds himself receiving the warm love of family that he always wanted but never thought he would get

And naturally, your family is very proud to welcome such a successful, impressive young man into their family as soon as possible (think of the bragging rights lol)

One more what if

a short third semester fanfic from Akechi's POV

Mostly angst and pining and Akechi's feelings towards Joker. After listening to the lyrics of Our Light I've always wondered how Akechi felt about being Joker's wish so I wrote this in response.

After all, Akechi had been the one to take Akira on obvious dates, but Akira, despite the flirt that he was, did not get the hint.

Akechi's hope was normally non-existent. He had learned long ago that hope only made everything worse, building up his expectations before they collapsed upon him and buried him alive. Carefully laid plans were all that he could rely on.

The obvious reason for his revived existence was pity. But if he was indeed Akira’s wish, then could it be for the same reason why Futaba Sakura brought Wakaba Isshiki back to life? Either way, he would have to distance himself from Akira. If Akira grew too attached to him, then Akira may choose to remain in the distorted reality where his dream had come true. Akechi had underestimated the man's brainless sentimentality.

“...Cut the bullshit, Joker. Or I’ll aim for your head next time,” Goro drawls from the other side of the hallway.

           Akira’s lips part a bit, surprised to have been spotted when he had been so careful. But, he decides to reveal himself, stepping out from behind the wall with his hands above his head and a devilish smirk on his face.

           “Gonna arrest me?” Akira asks playfully as he walks closer to Goro.

           Goro doesn’t lower his gun. He keeps it raised, aimed at Akira’s chest. But, Akira advances anyway, stopping just a few feet away.

           “As thrilling as that sounds, I’m a bit preoccupied at the moment,” he says, but his voice is lacking the distinct bite that Akira expected it would have. Eventually, he grows tired of holding the gun up and he lowers his arm to place it back in its holster. “Don’t you have better things to do than to spy on me from behind a filthy wall?”

           Akira considers this for a moment, his hands in the pockets of his tailcoat. Feeling a bit guilty for intruding on Goro’s privacy, he merely shrugs. Then, he changes the subject.

           “You faced the Reaper alone,” Akira comments, his eyes slowly moving over every inch of Goro’s body. “Impressive.”

           “Child’s play,” Goro says quickly, although it’s obvious Akira’s gaze is making him nervous. His cheeks darken a bit under his mask and he looks to the side, at some sort of red liquid that’s oozing out of a drain cover in the floor. “Despite how insufferable you are, I’ll admit you’re the only worthy opponent I’ve faced in years.”

           “So we’re still opponents, then?”
