Below Ground Zero [Deku] (Angst)

Summary: During a training exercise at UA, Tigress rushes to save her friends and finds herself trapped under a building. As time passes and she cries for help, will it prove to be Class 1-A's greatest rescue or a detrimental failure?

Author's Note: This one-shot isn't a part of a series, so if you're ever looking to see what character I'm writing for, I'll give a character name and whether it's angst, fluff, or smut in the title. Enjoy!

Ichijiku (Tigress)

"We need to get inside and make sure we find the survivor. That's our priority!" Ashido clenches her fist with determination. "Now, let's hurry! Time is of the essence!"

"Right!" Everyone follows her lead, even though I'm wary and feel a chill down the back of my neck. Didn't Mr. Aizawa say the building was burnt? I wonder if we should check it out to make sure it's stable... But since everyone seems confident, I hold my tongue.

We're already on the ground floor of the building by the time I realize I should have spoken up. I feel a light rumble beneath my feet and dart after my friends, trying to warn them like I should have done to begin with. "Wait, guys! If the building was burnt, it may still be unstable–" No sooner have I said it that the ground gives way beneath me and Toru. I shove her ahead to keep her from falling down with me.

"Tigress!" Their voices follow me as darkness swallows me.

Something cracks against the back of my head and my vision blurs. Sharp pain stabs through my calf as I hit the ground so hard I dry heave in the dirt. For the next few moments - is it five minutes or fifty? - I fight with consciousness. My body from the belly down feels completely immobile, pinned from the rubble.

When my brain finally refocuses, I find enough energy in me to call out instinctively for my boyfriend. "DEKU!"

My default emotion results in tears steaking down my cheeks as I try to analyze my situation. What would Mr. Aizawa do? He's always so logical. See how freely you can move, Little Cub. I grip at the dirt with the claws in my suit, trying to forcefully pull myself out.

A shriek tears through my lungs as my leg throbs from the movement. Dammit...I can't move my legs. Shit. I'm stuck here. I can't free myself. Sometimes, you have to wait for others to help you.  That's only fitting for something as worthless as you. A pathetic failure. Failure and guilt crash around in my head, threatening to break my body more than the building on my back. Mr. Aizawa is going to be so disappointed. I haven't even managed to get through the first quarter of the exercise. And then Dad... A sob rushes out of me as I try to think of something...anything I can do. I can't let him down.

So much for being a hero, huh? You were in the building for all of thirty seconds before it fell on you. Mr. Aizawa is going to expel you when you get out of here...if your own stupidity doesn't kill you first. No wonder your father gave Deku his quirk and not you. My fingers dig into the dirt painfully again, trying to distract from the emotional pain of my doubt, and the physical pain in my legs. There has to be something I can do. Call for help. No one is going to be mad at you. You saved Toru from the same fate.

"DEKU! FROPPY! URAVITY!" I choke out, using the amplifier in my suit to my advantage. "PINKY! INVISIBLE GIRL!" I shove the butt of my palm into my eyes to try and stop the flow of tears. Worthless. Failure. The sound of my doubt is abruptly cut off by the vivid sound of a tiger roaring in my mind.

I keep screaming and calling for help until my voice is tired and I feel my energy waning. What if they've forgotten me? What if they just left me here? I start to worry, calling out every one of my classmate's names at least once.

I'm starting to wonder if I'll die when the sound of footsteps reaches my ears. My breathing is shaky as I look up, and I'm sure my face is a sight, marred by panic, guilt, and blood.

Deku's face isn't smug or disappointed or annoyed like I'd convinced myself it would be. It pulls more tears from my eyes to match his glistening ones as he slides to his knees in front of me.

"TIGRESS!" He exclaims as he assesses the damage. He takes my hand. "The damage looked pretty bad here. Pinky and Invisible Girl said this was the area you'd fallen down. I was hoping this wouldn't be where I found you but–" He looks up at the debris shifting minutely above me, and his eyes widen, but his brows furrow as he takes a determined stance. "I'm going to get you out of here, honeydoodle. I promise. You're going to be okay!" He gives me a smile, and it both mends and breaks me.

He knows how to keep smiling. Why don't you?

"I'm sorry." I choke out. "I'm not...I wasn't...good enough..." I exhale, gritting my teeth. "I'm a monster."

"No, you're not. Don't say that. Invisible Girl said you saved her. I'm proud of you." Deku pats the top of my hair before he calls down the hall of the dilapidated building. "GUYS! SHE'S DOWN HERE!"

More footsteps start approaching. Iida and Tsu are the first ones that come into view, followed by Todoroki, Ojiro, and Ochaco.

I watch them jog closer until there's more movement from the debris above me and I shriek as my vision goes dark again.

"WATCH OUT!" I hear Deku cry and then everything is silent.

Now everything is pinned. There's no way I'm moving.

"DEKU!" I cry through the dusty darkness, coughing out the dirt trying to invade my lungs. "Is everyone okay?!" Please don't tell me others got hurt on my account.

"Tigress! Thank god you're still alive...we're all okay! Todoroki's ice kept the building from falling further. Can you move at all?" He calls.

"No, I can't move anything now, it has me pinned!" And indeed, even as I say this I try. I can't even turn my head; fallen debris renders it stationary.

I close my eyes and try to focus solely on their voices despite a throbbing headache. I listen as they come up with a plan. Iida is to be ready to run and grab me just in case. Ojiro and Ochaco are going to help move debris while Todoroki uses his ice to stabilize it.

The building crushing down on me has me fighting consciousness. One moment, I hear them talking. The next, I can hear the dirt above me starting to shift and settle. The next time I'm awake, I'm already on a stretcher made by Momo.

"S'Invisible Girl okay...?" I grunt out. It doesn't occur to me until I focus on a pounding in the back of my head that my deteriorating status is due to blood loss.

"I'm okay, Tigress." She promises, squeezing my hand.

I blink and then I'm pulled into a warm embrace. I think it's Deku at first, or my dad. But when he speaks, my chest aches as I find it's someone who's hug means that much more.

"You're going to be okay." Mr. Aizawa tells me, squeezing me. I sniffle and let my head rest on his shoulder for a minute. He reads my mind because as he pulls back and catches my expression he meets it with a stern look. "Don't you dare start apologizing. Just let them take you to Recovery Girl."

I'm too tired to fight it, but I have enough energy to huff at him.

The next in line, not surprisingly, is my dad.

"Ichijiku!" He darts over to my side; even he's not wearing his signature hero smile at first, but he grits his teeth and forces it there in the next moment. "You're okay." He exhales his relief. "Recovery Girl's going to fix you up, okay? I'll be right by your side the whole time."

I reach my hand weakly to pat his, again wanting to apologize but not having the energy. The world starts shifting in focus again.

"Can I go with her, Mr. Aizawa?" I hear Deku's voice in the distance and start glancing around for him.

Soon enough, he's jogging by my stretcher. "Ichan, it's okay. I'll come check on you in a little bit, but I have to finish the training...I'll be with you as soon as I can, okay?" Deku's hero smile is gone and fresh tears paddle down his face. He grips my hand tightly and squeezes before giving it a kiss. "We love you."

I love you too. I think, finally feeling content enough to fall asleep.

My thoughts regarding 5:11

Negatives:

Narratively, Dazai should’ve died. Fyodor is the big bad, Dazai is NOT the mc. What the hell was the point of “We need a new generation of Double black.” and “I want you tail Atsushi.” If SKK can just beat ever threat? Dazai cannot keep keikakuing his way forever, this would’ve been the perfect ending for him, as well as Actually build up Fyodor as the ultimate threat of the series.

•As I said in my last post, the way Fyodor died was so stupid! So undignified! They mutilated my babygirl!!! And no way he wouldn’t have seen through CONTACT LENSES and 2$ halloween clip on vampire teeth.

•Fyodor is supposed to be the smartest character!! Even ranpo lost to fyodor! I thought the whole point was that Fyodor was a monster that edged out even ranpo and dazai in smarts!! How does he die from such a stupid plan!!!!!!

•No poe or yosano cameo in the ed I see I see

•So, the guys fukuichi killed are dead? Sigma? Why didn’t we get anything about them? Bring back my beautiful sigma!!

•Gogol should’ve at least got the chance to try to kill fyodor

also people giving all might shit for failing to stop the fight in the training exercise like there's something to be said for the fact that despite the fact that he let the fight go on for izuku's sake, as the adult in the situation, all might should have pulled the plug way earlier HOWEVER 1. all might does in fact try to stop the fight less than a minute later 2. the audience/izuku doesn't know about all for one at this point but all might does and it's like literally world ending stakes to either train this kid up or find a new successor asap 3. all might has no reason to believe a hero student would actually attempt a murder like it's a hero school for heroes and he doesn't know all the backstory with bakugo 4. he's trying his best man he's really trying his best to save the world and he's not that smart but woof the way some people villainize him in fic it's like girl he's not like that what are you doing anyway this is an all might apologism blog if all might has 10000 stans I am one, etc honestly the way some people bend over backwards and then fawn over aizawa when he's just as bad if not worse to mido at the beginning

listen I'm pretty high so but like listen. listen. aizawa is my favorite. but. he is justified for it because he doesn't know the siutation but he's a real dick to mido on the first day. like. he's way meaner than all might ever was. and I agree that he has big dad energy for sure I'm just SAYING that if you can't handle me at my dad might you don't deserve me at my papazawa

Izuku as Shouta's older brother & a quirkless pro hero (tho hes not widely known)

The Aizawa's had trouble conceiving a child so they used a surrogate mother (Midoriya Inko) and had Izuku (inko still comes by often, she and Mamzawa became good friends and now inko is the boys' Auntie)

Four years after having Izuku the Aizawas get naturally pregnant and have Shouta. Izuku immediately becomes determined to be the Best big brother ever! (He succeeds)

Izuku is still quirkless & a lover of quirk analysis

Papazawa has a visual Quirk Identifying quirk, and his knowledge and interest in quirks passed to Izuku

Mamazawa has a personal Gravity Nullifying quirk which makes her hair/clothes/anything shes holding float a bit in the air - generally considered a weak quirk - it gives her a slight colored aura

Shouta still has his Erasure quirk

Izuku learns he's quirkless and asks if he can be a hero and his parents say theyre not sure (bc the world is shitty and heroics is hard) but they'll stand with him the entire way if he wants to try anyways - and if anyone could be a quirkless hero, it's their Izuku

Izuku does end up going to UA and graduating as the quirkless Pro-Hero Null, with extra support from Nedzu (Many ppl try to stop him. It doesnt work.)

Shouta has trouble sleeping most nights (stress, anxiety, nightmares, insomnia, etc) and has ever since he was a baby. So he and Izuku-nii-chan have developed a Technique that almost always soothes Shouta to sleep: Izuku holds Shouta to his chest, with Shouta able to hear his heartbeat and breathing, and they just lay/sit together, the calm steadiness and safety of his brother allowing Shouta to put aside everything else and relax.

They found this Technique early, since Izuku has a seemingly sixth sense for when Shouta can't sleep (helped by Izuku's own struggles to sleep through the night). When Shouta was barely a month old, Izuku heard him whining in his crib and, in an effort to be Best Big Brother, crawled in with him and held him close like he'd seen their mom do. He said reassurances and rocked him a little, and Shouta quieted down quickly. They both ended up falling asleep in the crib, finally being found by their dad in the morning who woke Izuku to fondly ask "wtf?" His heart grew even more for his sons at hearing Izuku's explanation and seeing them cuddled so close - he didnt tell Izuku to stop. So it kept happening and now even as adults the #1 method to get Shouta to sleep when everything else won't let him is to just have Izuku hold him for a while. (Shouta does wake up pretty quickly upon being separated from Izuku, which is why it becomes an Emergencies Only situation when theyre adults living separately, but every little bit helps)

Another Thing they have is: as a child Shouta created a habit of jiggling the doorknob before entering Izuku's room to talk to his brother (usually about stuff that upset or confused him but sometimes just bc he wanted to hang out), and Izuku learned to listen for the extra noise to know it's Shouta and he always asks "What's wrong, Sho-chan?" when his brother comes in. They never grow out of that.

Shouta always thinks his brother is amazing and so cool for trying to be a hero and then Doing That, esp bc he knows a bit of how much ppl would criticize Izuku for it.

Shouta did grow up hearing quirkist comments from kids at school about him (and his brother but they never shared schools at the same time after elementary) but Izuku refused to allow them if he heard them and would regularly get in fights with Shouta's classmates after school, even tho his parents wished he'd stop - esp for fear he'd fuck up his school record and chances for heroics, but Izuku never backed down.

(One example of bullying Shouta also got at least once was ppl claiming that he erased his brother's quirk as a kid and that's why Izuku is quirkless & Shouta is a villain. Shouta avoided telling people his brother was a quirkless hero student after that unless it came up - which sucked bc he loves telling ppl how awesome Izuku is, but no one ever believes him.)

Shouta's bullying does contribute to his reticent nature tho, and even Izuku's cheer and chatter don't make him open up (but that's okay, he does what he needs to to keep himself safe. His family loves him always)

Shouta's high school friends all meet Izuku and love him and he adopts them all as little siblings

Shouta tends to use nii-chan with his brother bc theyre so close but does sometimes switch for nii-san if the vibes are right (no massive significance to it just vibes)

Izuku does NOT get OfA & doesnt really meet All Might {{unless he subs for Shouta at UA but thats potential plotty stuff so its flexible}}, but he's still a huge All Might fan and admires the man greatly

All Might, for his part, doesnt know Izuku but he DOES get inspired by the story of The Quirkless Hero: Null & hearing about Izuku's determination to save people and reach his dreams despite the many massive odds, makes AM proud for the next generation and also inspires him to push his own limits as well (if ever meets Null he'd like to tell him and thank him)

OC Ann Simmons

Idk why, but the creator made the black hair be dark blue? They don't really have a black hair option....

Quirk-

Paralyze: She can paralyze the body of anyone she touches, which will last as long as she keeps her focus. The more people being affected, the more concentration needed, the harder it is to keep a hold on the enemies.

She can decide how effective the quirk is on the person. From only effecting one limb all the way to stopping organs from moving, like the heart from pumping or the lungs from moving so they can't breathe.

Trying to make super dangerous/powerful quirks is weird. But when MHA has things like decay and rewind and whatever that bird mask guy's quirk is called, you just feel pressure to boost up the power of quirks, ya know? The organ thing was the only deadly thing I could think up for this quirk and it feels lame, but at the same time OP.

If she wanted, she could leave a person being unable to move a finger while they suffocate. Luckily, she has never thought of doing that and is more interested in being a hero than a murderer.

She didn't get her quirk until middle school, so she didn't get the elementary school quirk counseling that most kids get. Nope, her dad had to give her all the missing answers to all the questions she had when her quirk finally came.

If over used, her own body will temporarily give out. The time depends on how far/how hard she pushes herself. So she can be stuck laying there on the floor for a while. The longest she was stuck like that before going to UA was 15 minutes.

Also; because of her type of quirk, I feel like she should get a capture weapon like Aizawa and Shinsou. It's good for temporarily paralyzing enemies, but she finds it pretty difficult to fight most of the time, especially when she needs to keep her distance from an enemy. She can use a capture weapon to fling the enemies around like Aizawa does.

Health:

She has some health issues, because I'm giving her some of my own. Such as; celiac disease! (I feel bad because I've heard it's even harder to avoid gluten and cross contamination in Japan! Which is why my wish to one day visit is now dead....😶)

So she's also going to get some issues that the celiac caused me, such as....*holds up my arm that needed surgery and is in a splint again* weak bones! Weak, easily breakable bones! The doctors never gave me exact numbers, they just say 'much weaker' than a normal woman my age. So, she has very weak bones, too. So her hero outfit is gonna have things like a helmet, to keep her skull from cracking, teeth guards to try and keep her teeth from chipping (if I had to go to the dentist twice in my life because they chipped just from me using tooth picks too much, I'm gonna force her to protect her teeth while she's getting punched in the face!) She's gonna have pads for her elbows and knees, maybe some kind of supports for her ankles (idk if it's because of my bones or not, but my ankles give out a lot and that's why I ended up falling on my arm, so whatever causes it, she's getting the ankle problems).

She's also gonna get fatigued easily and I'm gonna make her a bit chubby.

For 2 reasons.

1: Some people assume that if you give up gluten, you drop a lot of weight. I'm living proof that it's not like that for everyone. I've gained weight because my body finally started to absorb the stuff I was eating and stopped acting like it was starving. So I'm gonna pass some chubbiness onto her.

2: I would just hope that a bit of extra body fat would protect her weak bones. Like, maybe a bit more fat around her middle would cushion her ribs a bit? Or thicker legs might cushion her leg bones a bit?

Yeah....

Anyways, onto that dad I mentioned earlier.

She has a Japanese father and American mother. The mother likes to visit some friends in Japan and she ran into the father. Cöndom broke. (Will that censor keep me from getting in trouble with dumblr?)

Anyways; it broke, she wasn't on birth control and she wanted to keep the baby.

She lived with her mother in America, but asked to move to Japan for middle school to spend time with her father for a bit. Then she decided she wanted to go to UA, so she stayed with her dad.

Now then, can you guess who the father is?

Did I make him good? Can you tell that it's Aizawa? Did I make him look tired enough?!

Anyways, yes! Aizawa! You! Are! The father!

I can't wait to be able to actually draw her how I want to draw her. But....elbow surgery.

Now then!!

Her last name. I did not give her Aizawa's name. I just imagine that getting annoying at school.

Since her parents never got married, the mother decided to give her daughter her own last name.

This little detail can sometimes catch her schoolmates by surprise when they find out she's his daughter. Pretty sure that Todoroki would be the only one to really care about any similarities that he might notice.

'Are you Mr. Aizawa's love child?'

'No, I'm his life long reminder to be careful not to break his condoms. Love had nothing to do with it.'

'....Ok.'

I'll name her mom later.

For now, let's just focus on her.

Aizawa adopting Eri? 10/10 idea. He is already Papazawa for class A1. I hope taking care of a child will make him take care of himself better too. Well, It’s pretty unlikely that he will adopt her in canon but... we can dream)

Aizawa isn't exactly what one might consider a traditional cg. It isn't that he's not good at it, or that he doesn't like it. No, he's nontraditional in the sense that he doesn't treat his little one much different than how he treats them when they're big; he's very matter-of-fact about it. Overly cutesy baby talking them doesn't feel right, endearments come out clumsy and sounding almost forced in his mind nine times out of ten. He gets in his own way with stuff like that. Overall the most noticeable difference when he's minding after them is that he speaks a bit more softly, and there is a calmer and more at ease air about him whenever he is taking care of them.

That isn't to say he doesn't show them any sort of affection however, be it through words or actions. He just tends to be more subtle. And while both can be difficult for him, he is better at it when it comes to actions. Aizawa is the type that gets them little gifts, things that catch his eye that remind him of them in some way. Picks up their favorite snacks when he sees them on sale, just small gestures that let them know he pays attention to them and cares for them. And though he's not the most touchy feely either, he puts forth a real effort to remember that they're only little, and that things like hugs can mean a lot to them.

Often goes out of his way to ask them what they need. He's a very attentive cg (like treading dangerously close to helicopter parent territory), but even he can't read minds and some things aren't always obvious. "Your face is a little warm, are you feeling okay?" "Do you need a hug?" "Do you want to hold my hand?" Things like that. Almost always it's phrased as a yes or no question, so that even if they are nonverbal that day they can still shake their head to answer him.

Pretends he doesn't care about what his little one decides to call him—it is up to them, after all—but he not-so-secretly melts whenever he hears them call him Papa. It makes him feel like he's doing something right despite often feeling out of his depth when taking care of them. He knows he's not the most openly affectionate and all, so for them to still see him as being worthy of being their Papa? It's a very big deal to him.

His little one might not have a naptime, but he certainly does. Aizawa will pull them down with him, hugging them close and resting his chin on top of their head to keep them in place. They cannot escape the infamous Papazawa hold. He lets them think they are doing him a favor though, claiming it's Papa's naptime and he needs the company (Which, there is truth to this; it's a lot easier for him to fall asleep and sleep more soundly if he knows they are nearby and more importantly safe.)

Aizawa has exactly three images folders on his phone. One has pictures for work related things, the second has pictures of all the cats he's seen while out on patrol, and the third is nothing but pictures of his little one. Whether it be of them by themself, shots of the two of them together, or of things they've made for him, doesn't matter. He's very sentimental believe it or not, and on top of that is very proud of them. He's totally the type that would keep a picture of them in his wallet too (like the proud papa he is), but that's not as secure as his phone.

Absolutely can and will use his binding cloth as a makeshift baby carrier, and he better not hear anybody say anything about its intended purpose either. For starters it's multipurpose, and besides it was literally made to firmly hold other people. To him there's no difference between using it to catch a rowdy villain or to keep his rowdy little one close by for convenience's sake. It isn't uncommon for him to decide that they can simply vibe while he goes about his business, kept safely against his chest. Of course this comes with the tradeoff that they'll play with his hair, but he doesn't mind so long as they don't tug on it.

like he glares at them for a while but no one will tell him what actually happens until tenya breaks under the weight of aizawa’s disappointment and spills everything and aizawa is just like “cool guess I’m never sleeping ever again” while he does not in anyway convey that he is kind of impressed especially that mr bone breaker didn’t break any bones.

it was a homework due the next day that kept you up all night. no matter how hard you tried to read the contents of the text book layed infront of you, nothing seemed to settle inside your head.

groaning out of frustruation, you pushed yourself back a little, leaning back onto your swivel chair with your eyes closed, the stress visible in the way your eyebrows creased and met in the middle. with out much thought, you let out another groan, louder than the last, before pulling yourself back closer to your desk in attempt to try and study once again.

while you were in your room trying your best to get something inside your brain, on the other hand, aizawa, in his own room, had f i n a l l y finished grading 'em papers and decided to be a great father😃👍🏻 and check up on you, expecting you to be asleep.

but nO, he quietly enters your room without you noticing only to see you hunched over your desk, studying💀

so being the great father he is🤠 he leaves your room and heads to the kitchen to whip you and himself something to eat. after he made whatever shit he made in the kitchen, he then made his way back into your room still in the same position from when he left.

ofc, being the oh so amazing dad he is, he abruply but carefully closed your textbook shut, surprising the shit out of you before setting the tray of food he made for you.

right after you finished your midnight meal, as you were about to reach out for your textbook in attempt to continue studying, aizawa had already swooped you over his shoulder then throwing you on your bed. a low grunt followed after a "fucking sleep, problem child"
