Here's to systems who have different views of their headspace/innerworld between different people!

Sometimes, innerworlds can be perceived differently from headmate to headmate. So here's to:

Headmates who see their headspace more vividly than others

System members who have access to areas the others don't

People who can't access their innerworld for whatever reason

Those who don't have a headspace to begin with

Sysmates that live exclusively or primarily in their headspace

Those who have their personal areas, such as their own room, or somewhere they can do their hobbies

The ones who have fluctuating, inconsistent, or nonexistent internal appearances

Systems who have a paracosm as their headspace, or in addition to a different innerworld

Those who can only be interacted with by certain people (we have someone like that in our system!)

And anyone else I missed!

its’s okay

para and paracosm are maladaptive daydreaming terms

paracosm = daydream world

OC = original character

para = an OC you daydream about

so when we say para thats what we mean

so

plushie para = a plush character you daydream about

fictional para = a fictional character you daydream about

An elaborate fictional universe akin to Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere or Terry Pratchett's Discworld, but it's all set within a teenage girl's notebook.

She draws all her hyperfixations and handwrites fanfics in its pages. All of these pieces of headcanon-riddled fan content morph into a patchwork continent of her creations.

She branches out into original work. Islands spring up from the seas within her world to house her different stories.

Her self-inserts are seen by the citizens of her notebook as prophetesses of the creator goddess. They don't prophesy about the future or anything— they're just really good at predicting when a new island will surface because they all get super obsessed with the idea of steampunk talking dragons at the same time.

There's little to no rhyme or reason for the way the notebook citizens look. That person down the street has cat ears and a tail. Your librarian is a mermaid who travels in a floating bubble with no care for the laws of physics. That guy in the line at your favorite fast food joint is a giant shadow monster who's taking his adorable little nieces to get burgers and fries. People don't know why anybody appears the way they do— the Creator just made them that way. Meanwhile the teenage girl is just drawing + writing whatever she thinks is cool.

She eventually settles on a single author avatar that she sticks with. She creates pieces of her new self-insert interacting with all her characters and settings. The notebook's citizens are all telling each other stories about that girl who will pop up in the middle of conversations, say things about you that she shouldn't feasibly know about, and then disappear. She unintentionally becomes a cryptid in a world of her own creation.

I didn’t realize until recently that there was a little community of maladaptive daydreamers on here. You all seem so sweet! (And looking at all the posts makes me feel a lot less alone!!!) 🥺

I also just recently learned that the little “oc”s we make to live in our little paracosms are called “paras” and I just think that’s so freaking cute! 😆

So, yeah, in case nobody’s noticed, I’ve been (and will be) posting and reblogging maladaptive daydreaming content a little more often. 🤭
