Here's to headspace exomemories!
In complex dissociative disorders, headspaces/innerworlds are often defense mechanics a young child comes up with to feel safe. But, for you, it might just be somewhere to hang out with your headmates! Both are normal experiences, and should be appreciated!
Shoutout to:
Funny headspace moments, like inside jokes and such
Violence of some sort, whether "cartoonish" violence or real violence (we have experience with this, shoot us an ask if you're in a similar situation or need advice)
Sad moments, like headmates going dormant
Happy moments, such as getting to hug your loved ones
Anything else I missed!
Headspaces can be full of whimsy, joy, grief, and every emotion in between. Take some time today to appreciate yours, too, if you have one!
Stay safe!

Thoughts on Innerworlds:
They’re not physical locations that system members actually live & walk around in, but the brain may make them perceive it that way.
When we front, we can “remember” what happened in our innerworld while we were there. Since we share a brain, we all have the same “storyline” there, which has created consistent “memories” from within our innerworld over the years.
We’ve had things happen there that have helped us process & recover from things that happened in the outerworld. (It’s why it’s used as a therapeutic technique.)
There’s a fine line with it. It’s possible to rely too heavily on the innerworld to escape the stress of this life, which, for many CDD systems, was the only way they could survive. Once it’s safe to do so, it is important to draw up a healthy distinction between innerworld reality and physical reality. But, on the other hand, entirely denying the legitimacy of innerworld events can greatly hinder healing.
Oftentimes, innerworld happenings are metaphorical. They occur because there’s something the brain/system needs to work through. For example, a “physical fight” occurring within the innerworld may represent clashing morals between two system members, and signify that the misalignment needs to be addressed.
So, are innerworlds “real”? Maybe not in the way the walls of my house are, but it’s real in that it’s a significant part of how my brain functions. To deny that reality entirely is to deny the very thoughts in my head, simply because I can’t touch them & other’s can’t see them.

Whispers of Imagination
Tumblr media
In this ethereal moment, a solitary figure sits before a swirling vortex of creativity, surrounded by a cascade of scattered pages and books. The light emanating from the center beckons like a portal to another realm, inviting us to explore the boundless landscapes of our imagination. It’s a reminder of the transformative power of storytelling and how art can transport us to places we’ve only dreamed of. Each piece of paper on the ground serves as a testament to the journey taken, filled with thoughts, dreams, and inspiration. As I reflect on this imagery, I invite you to ponder: what stories are swirling in your mind, waiting to be released?

"Innerworlds are only visualization exercises and not real places!" WRONG! Innerworlds are sure representations, but they're much similar to dreams and constructions of trauma/repressed memories and what the system needs.
They are not always voluntary constructs, nor is it easy to "change" what happens within innerworld. Someone with a stronger imagination may find it easy visualize such large scale places, but they can appear randomly and in reference to alters and trauma.
They are not an exercise because not every system consciously makes it. They just happen to exist in order to house parts that don't front or need to step back from front.
They are often very real to the brain due to the nature of systems. If alters look a certain way in innerworld or have memories related to innerworld, then innerworlds are as real as that aspect of systems.
So don't assume everyone just "made it up", it's just another aspect of a lot of people's systemhood.

«Game Balance»
«Game Balance»
The battle for the chess crown is about to begin. I’m quite fond of chess myself, though I wouldn’t call myself a master. In fact, the title of a “chess enthusiast” feels far more rewarding than any professional accolade, as it brings the purest joy of the game. Sadly, it’s been quite a while since I last had the chance to play a live chess match with someone face-to-face.
In my latest work, I tried to capture the essence of my friend—her strength and enigma. Here, she seems deeply immersed, not in a physical game, but in something much deeper: a realm of thoughts, strategies, and calm. We missed the chance to play chess during our recent meeting, but I hope we can fix that soon.

Wait - you didn’t know you were a system, but you had an innerworld? How? /genq (not trying to be accusatory just really confused how that happens :0)
Haha, no worries Anon!
Innerworlds are not a system thing. Singlets can have innerworlds; it’s just a way to visualize your thoughts and such.
My innerworld was developed via some dissociation and latching onto a comfort media at the time (which is now a trigger for us). We visualized our parts in that space, and had an entire hierarchy even! (Don’t worry — it’s gotten much better since learning about DID and doing some work with our parts). Back in high school, before realizing we had DID, we just figured that these people I daydreamed of were just My Emotions. Sierra was the Perfectionist, Wade was my Depressed Self, Numb was my Unfeeling Self, Sie was my Inner Child, and so on and so on and so on.
(Ironically, calling ourselves “parts” once we did research and learned we had DID and tried people based languages for so long… actually helped us move away from that mindset a lot! Sie isn’t my Inner Child Part, she’s the part of me who didn’t get to be a child, and that influences her personality. Make sense? Idk! Lol)
I don’t have any guides on hand, but innerworlds can be created or shifted with practice and effort. I’ve been working on shaping my innerworld to suit my needs in therapy, and it’s helped us a lot! :)

“The Curtain and the Void”
One enters with grace— a practiced step, a spotlight’s kiss upon embroidered silence.
She dances where applause waits like hunger, each motion carved to be admired, each gaze a mirror of perfection rehearsed.
But the other— he lingers in the hush between notes, in the space where breath becomes memory.
He does not seek the stage but the trembling behind it— the flicker of truth in a note too soft for the world’s roar to hold.
She moves to be seen. He creates to be felt.
She becomes light in a golden room. He is shadow singing in the dark.
And though both create— only one touches the soul without needing to be touched.

Sguardi animi

Celestial Strings
Celestial Strings" – My new playlist is now live.
It’s not easy to describe what these 26 tracks mean to me. They’re moments. Fragments of feeling. Light and shadow. Some pieces are mine, some by others – but all connected by the same invisible thread.

Here's to systems who have different views of their headspace/innerworld between different people!
Sometimes, innerworlds can be perceived differently from headmate to headmate. So here's to:
Headmates who see their headspace more vividly than others
System members who have access to areas the others don't
People who can't access their innerworld for whatever reason
Those who don't have a headspace to begin with
Sysmates that live exclusively or primarily in their headspace
Those who have their personal areas, such as their own room, or somewhere they can do their hobbies
The ones who have fluctuating, inconsistent, or nonexistent internal appearances
Systems who have a paracosm as their headspace, or in addition to a different innerworld
Those who can only be interacted with by certain people (we have someone like that in our system!)
And anyone else I missed!
We think it's super cool that every system has their own experiences with their innerworlds, and we love hearing about them! Please drop us an ask if you're in the mood to share something about your headspace or related exomemories!
Have a great day, everyone!

What's an innerworld?
Innerworld or headspace is figuratively the place where alters go when they aren't fronting. The word innerworld speaks for itself: a world inside ourselves.
Does every system have an innerworld?
No, not every system has one. Some systems may just communicate directly, speaking to one another.
How does an innerworld look like?
Every innerworld is unique and can vary in size and complexity. Some systems may have a big house, some a city, some a whole world or even a universe. Every kind of innerworld is valid as there's no “right” way to have an innerworld.
Is having an innerworld always a good thing?
While it can be an amazing part of being plural, having an innerworld can sometimes cause trouble or even trauma, as it can mimic the outside world and all kinds of things can happen.
If you have any questions, you're welcome to leave a comment. Just be nice and respectful.

Somewhere between "Yes, they NEED to but not as often as the body" and "Yes, they WANT to out of habit or for fun."
It's sort of like eating isn't something critical for existence like it is for the body, but not eating (especially hunting/food obtaining like our species) makes it feel like we're lacking something. More an emotional need than a physical one, kind of. Plus, we can feel hungry, we just can't be harmed from hunger.
