Movin' on up! - Style Savvy: Trendsetters #06
This title serves a double meaning, I made some good progress in Trendsetters.. ...and my Copy of 'Fashion Dreamer should be arriving today! But until then, new outfit of the day:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm a little less happy with this one :-/ I was told I needed something in the 'feminine style', for a meeting with Imogen. (The current head of the luxurious 'Enin Chen' brand, also the founder's granddaughter) But I was broke, and did not have a lot of stuff that fit in my closet, So I ended up with this feminine/bold hybrid look, as I feel it's the best I could do without going against my character style (without spending more money) But in the end, I guess it was not enough to impress her :'(
Tumblr media
Ok, well, I guess we gotta do what we gotta do... I don't have enough stuff in my normal color scheme, and the exhibition hall is closed, so....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's been a while since my character's worn pink, I think the last time was... my first fashion show in fashion forward. Basically my first ever real event in a 'style savvy' game! I have nothing against pink, I use it all the time for customers, But, I never really felt it fit my own character, I've always preferred 'pastel pink' over most other shades, and I think it turned out pretty well! (given my limitations)
And it was enough to pass the event!
Tumblr media
So I was able to unlock the high-end brand! (too bad I'm broke, haha) Also, the very next day...
Tumblr media
Men's Fashion is now available! This should be interesting, Since I played 'Fashion Forward' First, I have no idea how this is going to work. (good thing they give you free stock to get you started) I may be a guy IRL, but that does not mean I know how to dress, lol. And lastly...
Tumblr media
I now have a way to actually get rid of old/unwanted stock, you can have clearance sales! Not as convient as the 'buy back' from the later games, but I'm glad to now have at least something, and it's a bit more realistic too! --- Overall, the Game Started Pretty slow, Noticeably more so than 'Fashion Forward', But for the last few sessions, I've been enjoying it a little more each time I play. I still think I prefer 'Fashion Forward', but I strongly disagree with those that call this game 'skippable'. It may not be the ideal starting point, but I still think it's worth playing.
Tumblr media
"But that's just my opinion!" XD

My Little Pony crossovers and collabs that I want to see happen- Part 1
(In no particular order)
Fashion
My Little Pony x Minori– this person is a revolutionary model who reinvented “Shironuri” (painted in white) street fashion in Harajuku, Japan. She has been featured in Vogue and has an international following. Moore often than not, her artistic outfits consist of soft and flowing pastels, which would work quite nicely with MLP’s image and pastel ponies. Ideally, the pony I would like to see utilized in this collaboration would be Rarity, who is also a fashionista and well versed in the art of style, but also Fluttershy, who has had her moment in the spotlight with modeling, but is also quite knowledgeable about sewing as well. Perhaps also to be considered is Celestia, as her color scheme would work nicely with the Shuronuri theme and iconic styles of Minori, who best utilizes the fashion; along with a possible dusting-off and reappearance of the g3 original character, Kimono in the style of g4 (or g5)- for obvious reasons.
My Little Pony x Moi-même-Moitié– this gothic lolita fashion brand is iconic in Japan, and was created by the visual kei gothic metal band, Malice Mizer/ Moi Dix Mois’ leader and guitarist, Mana. While the image of this brand doesn’t necessarily mesh with a bright and pastel little ponies, there are a few darker-themed lines of this popular toy brand that could work nicely with it; case in point, the Ponymania collection. While they seemed more like a mishmash of visual kei rock, gothic lolita, and sweet lolita all rolled into one, a second attempt at this Ponymania theme, in collaboration with Mana’s fashion brand, with Ponies such as Moonlight Raven, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Princess Luna, and Inky Rose would be perfect for this.
Music/ Vocals
My Little Pony x Yoshiki– a Japanese musician, songwriter, composer, record producer, and co-founder of the heavy metal visual kei band, X Japan. This guy is pretty major, as he was requested by the Japanese government to compose and perform a song for the Emperor’s coronation, has a radio station named after him, collabed with American comic book legends like Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane (as well as a guest of honor at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo), along with music legends like KISS, designed theme songs for the Golden Globe Awards, played a concert in Madiison Square Garden, has a hologram of himself, and so many more monumental achievements. As to why I think MLP should collab with him, he is a phenomenal musician and songwriter. If he were to work with Daniel Ingram or just standalone, I suspect that future songs for any reboot series for MLP would be equally exquisite.
Animation and Story Direction
My Little Pony x Hayao Miyazaki– One of Japan’s highly respected and most prominent film directors/ producer/screenwriter/ animator/ author, manga artist/ co-founder of studio Ghibli who is responsible for a laundry list of amazing animated films like Spirited Away (which won an Acadamy Award for best Animated Film (making it the only hand drawn animated film and non-English-language animated film to win that award), and was the highest-grossing animated film in Japanese history, and overtook Titanic, at the time, as highest-grossing film worldwide). A collab with this man would be refreshing, as like MLP, many of his works are characterized by themes such as environmentalism (humanity’s relationship with nature and technology), pacifism (the difficulty of maintaining a pacifist ethic in a violent world), feminism, love, and family. In addition, The protagonists of his films are often strong girls or young women. Miyazaki has described his female characters as “brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart”, stating that they may “need a friend, or a supporter, but never a saviour” and that “any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man” For a show about ponies that promote love and friendship, a collab with a person such as this seems ideal.
Anime (Animation)/ Manga
My Little Pony x Cardcaptor Sakura– this is a crossover that I’ve expressed a desire to see made possible before. Read it in my blog here: https://happypastelponies.tumblr.com/post/170326310843/why-mlp-fim-should-crossover-with-cardcaptor
My Little Pony x Care Bears– this is a crossover that I’ve expressed a desire to see made possible before. Read it in my blog here: https://happypastelponies.tumblr.com/post/171670025613/are-my-little-pony-care-bears-related-theory
My Little Pony x Star Darlings– This would be an ideal collab to make a reality in order to promote Hasbro’s IP: Namely, through the production and promotion line of a g1 (perhaps anniversary related) spinoff that would allow them to finally produce a group of long-time prototype ponies called the “celestial ponies”/ “Fancy Swirl” ponies, especially since there has been a bit of hype amid the Gen 1 community of pony collectors, which theyve been trying to get noticed and made by a company called Bridge Direct/ Basic Fun. With their celestial theme, they would pair and play nicely with the Disney Star Darling franchise in collaboration, whose characters are based off the 12 astrological symbols and live in a setting called Starland, in the celestial skies.
Voice Acting & Series Appearances
My Little Pony x Wanda Sykes– An American voice actor, comedian, and writer. This is one person who has quite a distinctive voice and plays in a number of comedic roles, such as “Granny Sloth” in “Ice Age”, “Stella the Skunk” in “Over the Hedge”, and “Barb Baran” in “The New Adventures of Old Christine”. She was also named one of the top 25 funniest people in America by Entertainment Weekly. There’s no doubt her memorable voice acting could bring a fresh dose of comedic relief on MLP, especially in union with Pinkie Pie.
My Little Pony x Whoopi Goldberg– An American actress, comedian, author, and tv host. She is one of the few people to have won an Oscar, a Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award. Her voice is also iconic, and she has had many roles in films and series such as “Star Trek- the Next Generation”, “How Stella Got Her Groove Back”, “The Color Purple”, and “Sister Act”; while also VA’ing a character, “Shenzi the Hyena” in “The Lion King”. Due to her comedic and Voice acting background, she could also bring a hint of comedy and acting talents to the MLP series.
Other:
Moon Dreamers x Star Darlings– While not necessarily a My Little Pony related crossover, it is one with another one of Hasbro’s Intellectual Properties, “Moon Dreamers”. This would provide a good opportunity for Hasbro to dust off one of its older IP’s and revitalize a long dead toyline from the 80’s.
With Moon Dreamers, they are insanely similar to a more recent IP made by Disney, called “Star Darlings”. One IP’s characters works with dreams, while the other series’ characters works with wishes, and correct me if I’m wrong here, but those are both really identical professions. Especially where Disney is concerned, apparently. The lyrics of a classic song “when you wish upon a star” has verses that say the following: “A Dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep”. The only difference is that while Moon Dreamers work in the world of slumber to grant kids their wishes/ dreams, Star Darlings work in the waking world to do the same. And Hasbro is no stranger to collaborating with Disney.

New Post has been published on http://vintagedesignerhandbagsonline.com/from-melania-trump-to-american-nightmares-what-caused-a-stir-at-new-york-fashion-week-fashion/
From Melania Trump to American nightmares – what caused a stir at New York fashion week? | Fashion
The most head-scratching moment of New York fashion week was not part of the official schedule. It happened more than 200 miles away from the catwalks, in fact, in Washington DC, when Melania Trump disembarked from Marine One on Sunday wearing a red Calvin Klein shirt with beige epaulettes and a sharply pointed collar.
This was a strange occurrence, for anyone who knows their fashion references, because Trump’s shirt was recognisably part of Belgian designer Raf Simons’s first collection for Calvin Klein. Simons is the sort of brainy, arty designer beloved by the “liberal elite” that the president professes to hate. His take on the US megabrand has mined the tropes of Americana – prairie quilts, cowboy boots, the star-spangled banner – in what has been interpreted by critics as an attempt to reclaim the American dream from the political right.
Trump probably wasn’t trying to make a complex political statement when she wore the $695 (£524) top. She possibly chose it because its beige details coordinated with her big beige Hermès Birkin handbag, but that doesn’t make her adoption of Simons’s take on Americana feel any less meta. The pictures also underline the fact that – although the fashion industry is proudly run by liberals and immigrants – a designer’s personal ideals may not be echoed by those who can actually afford to buy the merchandise.

Simons’s second Calvin Klein show, which opened New York fashion week on Thursday, was darker than his debut. It explored the American dream plus “American nightmares”. Violent photographs from Andy Warhol’s Death and Disaster series were printed on jeans and vests, while horror film references – blood-splattered dresses, shoes modelled after Jason’s hockey mask in Friday the 13th – were the collection’s centrepieces. This twisted take on patriotism was a trend at the shows, with Monse – a favourite label of Amal Clooney and Rihanna – presenting stars and stripes and sequinned baseball vests that had been shredded and nibbled. That show was presumably supposed to be cheerful – none other than Minnie Mouse sat in the front row – but all of that artful fraying at the seams felt pretty melancholy.
New York fashion week took place at a disastrous time for the US. Opening Ceremony staged a dance event directed by Spike Jonze and sold tickets to raise money for Hurricane Harvey, in a sad turn of events in which fundraising efforts were not able to keep up with natural disasters. Small talk between shows – usually of the “how was your summer?” variety – often touched on Donald Trump’s lack of concern about global warming. But there was also a disconnect at play: not once did I hear the designers addressing the fashion industry’s own, very considerable, role in damaging the environment.
Instead, designers chose to make socially conscious statements about ethnicity and gender. There was a pro-immigration collection from Public School, in which clothes were decorated with the slogan “Come Again” while designer Dao-Yi Chow wore a cap with a Daca Dreamers logo to protest against the threat of deportation young immigrants are facing now that Donald Trump has scrapped the program that protected them. At Prabal Gurung, there was talk about the “de-genderisation of colour”, an idea manifest on the catwalk as bright-pink, mid-blue and bright-yellow chiffon dresses. On the front row sat Gloria Steinem, attending her first fashion show at the age of 83, one seat away from Hillary Clinton’s right hand woman, Huma Abedin.

There was no room for introspection at Alexander Wang’s show, however, where the modern Armenian-American institution that is the Kardashians helped generate buzz for a few sportswear and chainmail looks presented outdoors in the industrial depths of Bushwick. Afterwards, a newly silver-haired Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, were whisked away in a blacked-out SUV by a team of large, shaven-headed, suited men who had the air of secret-service operatives. The ensuing afterparty featured blaring rap music piped into a series of bouncy castles, millennials wearing headdresses saying “Wangover” and a centrepiece comprising hundreds of doughnuts piled high.
There were reasons to be cheerful. The casting of the shows felt more inclusive than ever, with a few plus-sized models and one very pregnant model on the catwalks, as well as women of diverse ethnicities and even – gasp – women in their mid-to-late 30s at shows such as Jeremy Scott’s ebullient 20th-anniversary presentation. That might not seem like much but, for fashion, it is progress.
Victoria Beckham’s strength in delicacy collection. Photograph: Eduardo Munoz Alvarez/AFP/Getty Images
Female bosses proliferated. Victoria Beckham, for one, made a case for soft power with her collection of pastel colours punctuated with pretty, shiny, glittery shoes, designed, she said, to demonstrate “strength in delicacy”. VB – as she is referred to in the industry – had launched a major makeup collection a few days before her show, as did fellow celebrity mogul, Rihanna. The latter’s Fenty x Puma show also revelled in the power of glitter – the set was a series of pink sparkling sand dunes – and encompassed sporty hybrids such as high-heeled wedges with neon go-faster detailing, and stiletto flip flops.
The idea that powerful women can wear pastels and glitter if they want to – that, like men, they can cultivate whatever personal aesthetic they choose without being judged – chimed with the cheering moment broadcast in the midst of fashion week when, during the Miss America contest, Margana Wood, aka Miss Texas, described Charlottesville as “a terrorist attack”. She was spotlit on stage at the time, wearing a sparkly white dress, her blond hair tonged and arranged over one shoulder. Beauty pageants aren’t my thing; they’re possibly not yours either. But as an illustration of the argument that you never know what female empowerment will look like, it was perfect.
The five trends you will actually wear from New York fashion week (plus one you probably won’t)
‘What, these old jeans?’ jeans
Victoria Beckham walks after her show. Photograph: JP Yim/Getty Images
Dressing as though you don’t have the bandwith to agonise over your outfit – while simultaneously looking brilliant – is a strong power move. Victoria Beckham nailed it in the run up to her show, wearing jeans and a plain white T-shirt of which she said: “I just haven’t had time to think about what to wear.” Others were at this on the frow, too, and they all wore a very specific style of jean: straight-legged and darkish, and ending an inch or two above the ankle.
The heritage blazer

This was absolutely everywhere, worn with jeans, skirts or with trousers as part of a suit. The effect was slouchy and oversized, a slight smartening up, rather than the full hard-edged Working Girl look.
Yellow

Is yellow the new pink? NYFW answered this, the question de nos jours, in the affirmative, with catwalks and front rows full of highlights. There was The Haute Pursuit blogger Vanessa Hong’s pale maxi slip dress to the chunky yolk-coloured jumpers at Prabal Gurung and bright shots of daffodil and marigold elsewhere.
Cowboy boots
Model Karlie Kloss in cowboy boots. Photograph: Gilbert Carrasquillo/GC Images
You may not have worn them since Destiny’s Child were a four-piece, but Raf Simons put them on his catwalk for the second season this NYFW, while cool kids such as Millie Bobby Brown and Karlie Kloss are into them already. They will soon be yee-hawing their way to a high street near you.
A long, chunky jumper worn over a midi-length pleated skirt
Eva Chen attends the Jason Wu show. Photograph: Nicholas Hunt/Getty Images
Not the kind of showy look that will guarantee Instagram influencers a starring role on street-style blogs, but this was the understated, chic silhouette that many show attendees were wearing. Ergo, a piece of real-life style inspiration.
Tom Ford at NYFW. Photograph: Antonio de Moraes Barros Filho/FilmMagic
The French cut swimsuit The award for most annoying catwalk micro-trend goes to the very high-cut swimsuits that were worn under low-slung trousers, shorts and skirts at labels including Tom Ford and Fenty x Puma. Sadly, it is now inevitable that bare hips will be the in thing by spring.

hi :) so you've probably seen pastel blogs around tumblr - y'know, aesthetic pictures and graphics and those adorable, adorable clothes? I love them, and I love tulle and bows and soft colours and flowers. It makes me happy. However, I have a problem - I'm overweight - I don't fit into the measurements offered on pastel websites, I can't ever find things that fit, and I hate myself so much for that. I won't ever be soft and beautiful the way I want, if I'm not thin. Please help ~dreamer
I’m so sorry that you aren’t able to express the fashion you believe in on your own body. I would just suggest that you do some more research to try to pick and choose certain items from certain websites. Also, look into Etsy, where clothing can be more homemade/custom made. Lastly, it might be of interest to you to try to learn how to sew so you can make the perfect outfit for your shape! Here are some links for some plus-sized pastel fashion:
