reminder to myself and whoever else needs it to stop feeding the machine. I'm aware I'm yelling into the void but look at the past couple years of games. They're pushing $70, $80, $100!!! for games that are completely unfinished, unpolished, and sometimes completely unplayable. Yes the game showcases were cool. The doom game looks sick and I don't even go there, but they're shaking the shiny keys to distract you and get you swept up in the hype. They're going to push so much fomo marketing to get you to jump for it full price.

Wait for sales. Wait and buy a used copy. Hell, wait a couple days (even hours!!!) after launch and reviews and breakdowns will start coming out. Our game backlogs are already packed, and mr big AAA studio can deal with some of us waiting to see if they actually delivered what was promised.

as my own direct immediate list of game grievances i hate that stardew valley expects you to side against a wheelchair user who is upset that he was moved without his consent. i hate that the mass effect trilogy gives you visible scarring as a direct result of choosing mean dialogue and heals it if you're nice. i hate that the vampire the masquerade ttrpg has a monstrous player class that can appear as horrible vampiric monsters or as visibly disabled people and both of these appearances are mechanically the same. i hate that dark souls games have a difficulty level implemented in a way that cannot be adjusted for disability. i hate that i can play as a mermaid or a werewolf or a horse in the sims games but can't use a wheelchair. i hate that the ace attorney games have so much flashing and not all of the games can disable it. i hate that disability is constantly something that happens to teach a lesson, i hate that disability is something that happens as a punishment, i hate that disability is either compensated perfectly with no drawbacks or something that is endlessly sought to be cured. i hate that no character customization will ever include the mobility aids i use, that the player avatars that represent me will never look like me. i am so goddamn annoyed and so goddamn tired.

The fascinating thing about this particular patch note is that it implies the game engine is fully rendering your character's penis at all times, not just when you take your pants off.

— Fixed an issue where the game would freeze while you & your partner were shopping at the IKEA in Baldur’s Gate

— If you opted to have children, you must now pass a DC 30 check in order to have the energy to stay awake past 9:45 pm

— If partnered with Gale and living in Waterdeep, you can now discuss whose family you will be spending next Waukeentide with (*note, not an option with a Dark Urge character)

-on his right, cards, for the magic trick

-the initials are ofc very prominent

-on his left are patches for the pumpkin patch scratch offs, the musical voicemail, and “i’m da joker”

-his left shoulder says Zuri, the name of the lemur

-the three circular patches: jetski on one side, sourdough bread on the other - does anyone know what the middle one is? i can’t figure it out. looks like a virus kinda? was there a challenge like “don’t get sick for a year” that they cut for time?

-there seems to be some sort of lighthouse image on his right, perhaps linking to antarctica

-a soundcloud patch on his pants bc of course it’s not limited to the vest alone

i may be missing some, lmk

and all of this ISNT EVEN HIS ENTRY FOR THE OUTFIT COMPETITION and he DOESNT EVEN MENTION IT

Apart from silly bugs, the patch notes I love most are for deeply obscure bugs that have been around forever, but were only identified recently because somebody tried something particularly clever. Like, last week Inform fixed a pronoun confusion issue that had apparently been outstanding for 20 years and was only discovered in 2022. Fantastic.
