Yoon Phusanu my beloved never disappoints and has indeed hired a gaggle of lawyers to go up against Y.Entertainment.
youtube
You can watch his whole press conference (with English subs) here.
It includes highlights such as:
Yoon would like to be fairly compensated because he has to provide for his family. His family are seven cats. He's brought pictures.
He's now officially gone freelance and Y.Ent are no longer allowed to use his name.
Yoon hasn't been paid in a very long time, even though he's tried to negotiate and reach an agreement. He's tired of having to run after his money.
He's "only" owed about 100.000 baht (~2.555€ / 2772$ / £2,192) but Yoon's lawyer states that this is a systematic problem and lots of actors in Series Y (Thai BL) aren't fairly compensated. Several actors have reached out to him personally. He also says that he doesn't put blame on the companies because Series Y is a very competitive field. Still, young actors should be careful about who they work with and stand up for themselves if they aren't treated fairly.
They're showing pictures of Yoon's cats again. Yoon has to provide for them, after all:
Tumblr media
Yoon doesn't have acting work lined up right now but he's actively looking for new projects and is in talks to join a new agency.
I'm not sure if this only affects Yoon or the other actors who are owed money by Y.Ent as well but apparently the cut-off date for payment was 11 March. He was offered money after that date but didn't take it because he already knew that he wanted to terminate the contract. Apparently, he had been with Y.Ent for over 4 years and the contract was supposed to be a six year contract (I'm not too sure about this one since the subs are terrible and so is my Thai lmao). Because he's been with them for so long, the whole thing pretty much blindsided him.
Yoon's mother is supportive of him acting in Y Series.
Many other Thai BL actors have talked to Yoon about being treated unfairly and he wants to spread awareness about that.
Apparently, Y.Ent never stated a reason for not paying him. They only told him that he'd be paid at a later date.
Yoon's lawyer says that he has every right to sue but for now he only wants to negotiate. He again urges young actors to thoroughly check who they're working with.
Yoon is asked if this disagreement will cause him problems with other companies down the line but he says that he doesn't believe it will negatively affect him as he's trying to solve the issue peacefully.
Yoon's lawyer again says that actors should read their contracts very carefully. Some contracts don't give the actors any rights but only duties. They might then have to hire a laywer to be able to break contract.
Yoon then says that sometimes he wasn't sent the script before filming and when arrived on set all he'd be given was an old brief that he'd already read. He was then asked (by other crew etc) if he'd practiced his lines which of course he couldn't. This embarrassed him.
The lawyer also adds that there is often a discrepancy between the number of episodes in a series and queues for a shoot. I'm guessing that he means that the actors won't realise that they actually have to work more hours for less money (since compensation seems to be based on episodes rather than hours worked?). This is very difficult to renegotiate and almost no actor in their 20s can afford to settle this in court.
This isn't the first time Yoon has spoken up against the mistreatment of himself and other Thai BL actors in the industry and I'm so glad he has the means to stand up for himself when so many other actors obviously can't.
Fans are so quick to blame bad shows and weird behind-the-scenes stuff on the actors themselves when in reality it's so often due to mismanagement and mistreatment. Imagine not even having a script on shooting day (yes, I'm aware this is common practice in soap entertainment but these are rookie actors without the experience and support that seasoned soap actors have - also in this case it seems to have surprised even the crew on set). No wonder things were awkward in Unforgotten Night. Do you really think actors who don't have a script get to practice and negotiate their intimate scenes together?
And judging by what Tor Atagorn has spoken up about recently (and many other actors have alluded to in the past) this is only the very tip of the iceberg, with young and inexperienced actors deliberately trapped in contracts that they have no way of getting out of on their own.
Yoon's lawyer urged young actors to be more aware of who they're working for in order to better protect themselves. In a similar vein, BL watchers should ideally be more aware of whose shows they're watching and what companies have a shady track record.
If nothing else, do it for the cats! These actors have children they need to provide for, after all!

How to Market a Rental Property That’s Also for Sale Without Losing Tenants
Selling a rental property while it’s still occupied can be a tightrope act. On one hand, you want to maintain rental income and minimize disruptions. On the other, you’re trying to market the property to buyers — often ones who’d prefer a vacant unit or have different usage plans. Striking the right balance is key, especially in competitive markets like commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL.
If handled poorly, listing a rental property for sale can result in unhappy tenants, early lease terminations, lost revenue, and stalled deals. However, with the right strategies, you can sell your property without losing tenants, protecting both your cash flow and your reputation as a landlord.
This blog will walk you through actionable tips to effectively market a rental property for sale without driving tenants away — and keep your commercial or residential property performing during the transition.
Understanding the Risks of Selling While Occupied
Before diving into solutions, let’s look at the common concerns tenants and landlords face in this situation:
Tenants fear displacement or rising rents
Landlords worry about missed rent payments, damaged relationships, or early exits
Buyers hesitate if tenants are difficult or lease terms are unclear
Inspections and showings disrupt tenant privacy and business operations
The key is clear communication, proper planning, and legal compliance — all while presenting your property as a stable, income-generating asset to buyers.
Tip #1: Be Transparent With Your Tenants Early On
Why It Matters:
Surprising tenants with a “For Sale” sign can create distrust, stress, or even retaliation in the form of withheld rent or lease-breaking.
What to Do:
Notify tenants of your intention to sell before listing the property.
Reassure them that their current lease remains valid.
Discuss how you’ll handle showings and what you expect from them.
Emphasize that you are looking for buyers who will respect existing agreements.
Example Script:
“We’re planning to list the property for sale, but this won’t affect your current lease. Our goal is to find a buyer who values good tenants like you. We’ll coordinate showings in a respectful way and keep you informed throughout the process.”
Transparency breeds cooperation. It also increases the chances that tenants will support — or at least tolerate — the marketing efforts needed to attract buyers for your commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL.
Tip #2: Highlight Stable Rental Income in Your Marketing
Why It Matters:
Most buyers, especially investors, are looking for properties with strong and reliable income. Active leases with good tenants are an asset.
What to Do:
In your marketing materials, emphasize the tenant's payment history and lease terms.
Provide proof of income (rent rolls, lease agreements, bank statements).
Position the property as a “tenant-occupied, turnkey investment.”
When marketing commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL, this strategy appeals directly to investors who prioritize cash flow and prefer not to start from scratch with new tenants.
Tip #3: Time Your Sale Strategically Around Lease Terms
Why It Matters:
Trying to sell right after a tenant moves in — or too close to lease expiration — can create friction or uncertainty for both tenants and buyers.
What to Do:
Ideally, list the property when the tenant has at least 6–12 months left on their lease.
If the lease is nearing its end, try negotiating an extension before listing.
Offer incentives such as rent discounts or upgrade promises to secure tenant cooperation.
This ensures stability and reduces the likelihood that a sale will disrupt income or tenant satisfaction.
Tip #4: Offer Buyer Options — Owner-Occupant or Investor
Why It Matters:
Not all buyers are investors. Some may want to use the space themselves, while others may be open to assuming a lease.
What to Do:
Present options to prospective buyers: purchase with the existing tenant or with delayed possession once the lease ends.
Highlight the advantages of“ both—“instant income” for investors and “flexible transition period” for owner-users.
If needed, include a clause in your sale contract allowing early termination with tenant consent (incentivized by relocation bonuses, etc.).
This flexible framing makes your commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL, more attractive to a broader range of buyers.
Tip #5: Maintain Tenant Privacy and Respect During Showings
Why It Matters:
Tenants — especially commercial tenants running businesses — need stability and control over their space. Disruptive showings can strain relationships.
What to Do:
Provide at least 24–48 hours' notice before showings.
Coordinate times that minimize interruption (e.g., before business hours or on weekends).
Limit the number of visitors per showing and accompany agents or buyers.
Offer tenants incentives for cooperation — gift cards, discounted rent, etc.
Respecting tenant boundaries maintains goodwill and smooths the process — especially when marketing commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL, where small business tenants value consistency.
Tip #6: Keep the Property Clean and Presentable
Why It Matters:
Occupied properties — especially rental units — can sometimes be messy, cluttered, or mismatched with your ideal showing presentation.
What to Do:
Offer free cleaning services before major showings.
Provide storage or staging support for tenants, if appropriate.
Coordinate small cosmetic touch-ups (paint, lighting) that don’t interrupt tenant operations.
This approach helps buyers envision the potential of the space without compromising tenant comfort.
Tip #7: Market to the Right Buyer Profiles
Why It Matters:
Not all buyers are suitable for tenant-occupied properties. Marketing to the wrong audience wastes time and can create false expectations.
What to Do:
Target investors or property managers through commercial real estate networks like LoopNet or CREXi.
Highlight Montgomery’s business growth and tenant-friendly climate.
Work with a broker who specializes in commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL, to access buyer databases.
The right buyer will see your tenants as valuable, not obstacles.
Tip #8: Offer Seller Financing or Lease-Back Options
Why It Matters:
Offering flexible financing or lease-back agreements can sweeten the deal and make the transition smoother for both you and the tenant.
What to Do:
Consider seller financing for buyers who may not qualify for traditional loans but are investor-ready.
Use sale-leaseback arrangements if you or your tenant want to remain in the space for a set time post-sale.
These options show buyers you're solution-oriented and open to deals that preserve tenant arrangements.
Tip #9: Ensure Legal Compliance and Lease Disclosures
Why It Matters:
Selling a property with an active lease requires full transparency about tenant rights. Failing to disclose lease terms could cause legal headaches post-sale.
What to Do:
Include all active lease agreements in the due diligence package.
Verify lease clauses regarding assignment or early termination.
Disclose security deposit details, rent schedules, and tenant notices.
In Alabama, the lease usually transfers to the new owner, and Montgomery landlords must adhere to state rules on tenant protections. An attorney or experienced broker can help you stay compliant.
Tip #10: Manage the Transition Smoothly After Sale
Why It Matters:
Once the sale closes, tenant expectations must be managed during the handoff. Miscommunications or sudden changes can cause turnover or rent issues.
What to Do:
Introduce the new owner to tenants in person or via formal letter.
Ensure all deposits, lease documents, and utility setups are transferred.
Encourage the new owner to honor the tenant’s lease terms and maintain a professional relationship.
This not only helps your tenants but also strengthens your reputation as a landlord or seller of commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL.
Conclusion: Selling Without Sacrificing Rent or Relationships
Selling a rental property while it’s occupied can be challenging, but with thoughtful planning and a tenant-first approach, you can preserve your rental income and keep buyers engaged.
Let’s recap the most important strategies:
Communicate early and honestly with tenants.
Highlight stable income in your marketing.
Time the sale to match lease stability.
Market to the right buyer profile (investors and landlords).
Maintain tenant privacy and offer cooperation incentives.
Ensure legal compliance and manage post-sale transitions.
In markets like Montgomery — where real estate is active but competitive — these strategies help ensure your commercial property for rent in Montgomery, AL, stands out as a smart, cash-flowing investment.
Whether you're offloading a multi-unit retail strip or a single-tenant office building, keeping tenants happy while attracting serious buyers is the ultimate win-win.

How Marcus Brissco is Redefining Retail with Smokeable Receipts, Eco-Friendly ATMs, and Free Payment Solutions
In the heart of Dayton, Ohio, an innovative wave is transforming how receipts are printed, how payment systems operate, and how retail businesses connect with their customers. At the center of this retail revolution is Marcus Todd Brissco, the founder and visionary leader of Rolly Receipts. With a bold approach that combines unconventional thinking, eco-conscious technology, and free business solutions, Marcus and his team are changing how people interact with everyday financial transactions.
From introducing Smokeable Receipt Paper to deploying Eco ATMs that plant trees with every few transactions, Rolly Receipts is not just offering a service—it’s shaping a movement.
The Origin of a Visionary Idea
Marcus Brissco founded Rolly Receipts with a vision to disrupt the outdated world of paper receipts and give them a fresh, culture-driven twist. What started as a simple question—“Why do receipts have to be so boring?”—soon evolved into a company that would flip the script on how receipts are used, perceived, and valued.
While most companies focus solely on functional thermal receipts, Marcus went further, imagining a paper that could serve a second, unexpected purpose. After months of research and testing, Rolly Receipts launched its Smokeable Receipt Paper, which has passed lab toxicity tests and is currently patent pending. This new paper sparked conversation, curiosity, and widespread media buzz.
Smokeable Receipt Paper: A Cultural Breakthrough
Rolly Receipts’ Smokeable Receipt Paper is one of the most unique innovations to hit the retail market. Made from specially treated, lab-tested paper, this receipt can actually be smoked safely, turning an otherwise disposable item into a talking point—or even a part of a lifestyle.
It’s more than a novelty. Smokeable receipts bring attention to brands, generate viral content on social media, and create memorable experiences for customers. Store owners who partner with Rolly Receipts quickly find that their customers are intrigued and excited by the offering. This creative edge gives retailers something truly different—an experience that sets them apart in a saturated marketplace.
Free ATM Machines and Credit Card Terminals: Empowering Retailers
While the Smokeable Receipt Paper may be the headline-grabber, Rolly Receipts backs up its innovation with solid, scalable business solutions. Through a national network of ATM service providers, the company offers Free ATM Machines and Free Credit Card Terminals to retail locations across the United States.
For retailers, this is a game-changer. Installing an ATM at no cost not only provides a convenient cash access point for customers—it can also boost foot traffic, increase dwell time, and generate passive income through transaction fees. In a time when small businesses are constantly seeking new revenue streams and value-added services, Rolly Receipts delivers.
Currently, the company operates over 250+ ATMs across 40 U.S. states, making it one of the fastest-growing ATM solution providers in the country. Backed by a wide network of reliable service partners, Rolly Receipts ensures that every ATM is fully maintained, monitored, and supported—so retailers never have to worry about downtime or lost revenue.
Introducing the Eco ATM: Innovation Meets Sustainability
Marcus Brissco’s vision doesn’t stop at innovation for innovation’s sake. He has ensured that Rolly Receipts is also a champion of sustainability and eco-conscious business practices. Enter the Eco ATM—an advanced cash dispensing system that prints using EcoThermal Receipt Paper.
Unlike traditional thermal paper, EcoThermal receipts are free of harmful BPA and phenols, and are designed with the environment in mind. What’s more, Rolly Receipts takes it one step further with a powerful pledge: for every 50 transactions processed through an Eco ATM, the company plants one tree.
This initiative is more than a feel-good campaign—it’s a measurable, impactful way for businesses to contribute to global reforestation efforts. Retailers love the opportunity to align their brand with sustainability, and customers appreciate supporting stores that give back to the planet. It’s a win-win model that enhances brand reputation while helping the environment.
Nationwide ATM Servicing: Coast-to-Coast Coverage
One of the biggest challenges retailers face when adopting new technology is support. That’s why Rolly Receipts has invested heavily in building a vast network of ATM service providers throughout the 48 continental U.S. states. Whether your business is in a major city or a small town, Rolly Receipts ensures that you have access to fast, reliable, and professional support for your ATM machine.
This coast-to-coast coverage means that every partner store receives consistent service, proactive maintenance, and minimal downtime. With everything from installation to refills and technical troubleshooting handled, store owners can focus on growing their business without worrying about machine performance.
From Dayton to the Nation: Building a Movement
It’s remarkable to think that all of this started in Dayton, Ohio, a city known for its history of invention and entrepreneurial spirit. True to his hometown’s legacy, Marcus Brissco has created something that blends creative thinking with real-world business solutions. Through Rolly Receipts, he’s giving retailers across the nation tools that are both practical and unforgettable.
What separates Marcus as a leader is his ability to think differently—challenging norms, taking risks, and never settling for the ordinary. Rolly Receipts doesn’t just serve businesses; it empowers them with identity, whether through a quirky receipt that customers won’t forget, or through a sustainability pledge that builds brand loyalty.
Why Retailers Are Saying Yes
For store owners, partnering with Rolly Receipts offers multiple advantages:
No upfront costs for ATMs or credit card terminals
Increased foot traffic and passive income
Unique marketing edge with smokeable receipts
Sustainability branding with tree-planting initiatives
Nationwide support and easy installation
It’s rare to find a company that offers both personality and performance—but that’s exactly what Rolly Receipts delivers. Retailers are realizing that this isn’t just a vendor relationship—it’s a partnership that helps them stand out, attract more customers, and do good for the planet.
The Future Is Here—and It’s Rolling
As the retail world becomes more competitive, standing out is more important than ever. Through visionary leadership, eco-smart technology, and out-of-the-box ideas, Marcus Brissco and Rolly Receipts are giving retail businesses a powerful toolkit to thrive.
With new innovations constantly in development, a growing footprint across the country, and a loyal network of satisfied partners, Rolly Receipts is not just redefining receipts—it’s redefining what a modern business partner should be.

Bollywood News - Screenwriters Advocate for Fair Contracts Amid Industry Crisis
Tumblr media
Mumbai, India - In the wake of Hollywood's recent contract battles, Bollywood's screenwriters are now raising their voices against what they deem as "unfair" contracts that stifle creativity and financial growth. The Screenwriters Association (SWA), India's equivalent of the Writers Guild of America (WGA), is at the forefront of this movement, aiming to address the alleged power imbalance between producers and writers in the country's thriving film industry.
Harsh Contracts Stifle Creativity
Anjum Rajabali, a senior member of the SWA, highlights the challenges faced by Bollywood writers, citing the prevalence of arbitrary termination clauses, inadequate fees, and restrictions on approaching the union in case of disputes. The SWA, with over 55,000 members nationwide, recently convened a meeting where prominent writers, including Abbas Tyrewala and Sriram Raghavan, discussed changes they desire in their contracts.
Rajabali emphasizes the need for more equitable contracts, asserting that most producers agree on the necessity for improved pay and job security for writers. The BBC reached out to the Producers Guild of India for comment, but no response has been received at the time of writing.
Echoes of Hollywood Strike Empower Indian Writers
Inspired by the successful outcome of the writers' strike in Hollywood last year, Indian screenwriters are gaining confidence to demand better terms. However, experts note that a strike in India is less likely due to industry dynamics, where relationships play a crucial role in securing work. Additionally, the sheer number of aspiring writers waiting for opportunities contributes to a more cautious approach.
The evolution of writer-producer contracts in India is a relatively recent phenomenon, dating back to the mid-2000s. Previously, agreements were verbal, and payments were irregular. Rajabali points out that as corporate funding increased, contracts became more prevalent but also harsher, exacerbating the challenges faced by writers.
Protecting Producers, Exploiting Writers
Writers argue that some contracts include clauses requiring them to indemnify producers for losses resulting from protests or controversies related to a film. This stems from an uptick in instances where hardline groups target films, citing religious sentiments. Rajabali deems this clause unfair, asserting that writers shouldn't be held responsible for protests against a film after selling the script.
A Glimmer of Hope Amidst Challenges
While many writers face financial hardships and creative constraints, some producers are taking steps to address these concerns. Nikhil Taneja, from Bollywood production company Yuvaa, acknowledges the exploitative nature of current contracts. Despite the inherent risks in filmmaking, Taneja has introduced a rare clause in his company's contracts, linking writers' fees to the project's budget, providing some relief for writers.
Taneja points out the complexity of filmmaking, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of success and failure. He acknowledges that writers deserve better treatment but suggests that industry-wide change will only occur when writers unite to demand their rights.
Looking Ahead: SWA Advocacy Continues
An optimistic Rajabali declares that the SWA will persist in its advocacy efforts, pushing for a minimum basic fee, due credit, and the removal of exploitative contract clauses. As the industry grapples with these challenges, the fight for fair contracts in Bollywood promises to be a long but perseverant one.
In the dynamic landscape of Bollywood news, the ongoing dialogue between writers and producers will undoubtedly shape the future of India's vibrant film industry.

Diamond Bay Car Wash (Google Review)
Sorry about the narrative - I found the experience about to recount oddly significant.
Its gist:
Digital payments on-site do not appear to be functioning as of late June 2023.
I was able to use cash successfully.
Though it’d obviously been long-abandoned, the water that came out during the rinse cycle, at least, was free of debris and did not smell of poo poo.
The employee of the Break Time told me that:
The store had been able to sell working car wash codes for as long as she’d worked there.
It had been a notably long time since “anybody” had been able to get in contact with the owners of the car wash.
I was visiting my sister’s lake house this past June (the 18th I believe) having just taken my first road trip in 4 years in my (new to me) Golf. I had gotten the car fairly dirty on my way there - having driven the longest route I could from Columbia, basically. I asked my brother-in-law about car washes in the area and he mentioned “the one behind Break Time,” though couldn’t tell me whether or not it was still opened.
With post-COVID hours, I was pushing it when I arrived at ~10:40PM with like 3 quarters to my name. So freakin thankful, immediately, that no music was being played (the last do-it-yourself washes in Columbia - Lighthouse Car Wash - play pop radio so loud it’s actually hard to concentrate.) I was curious about the prospect of using my debit card as soon as I saw the sign indicating that it had to be done in a singular location, where I found an (absolutely adorable, apparently locally made?) interface that appeared to be stuck on the authorization screen for a prior transaction.
Before I proceeded - and perhaps actually relevant to purpose of such a review (sorry) - I walked up to the Break Time, where the last shift was closing solo. I brought up the car wash and she immediately noted that they “hadn’t heard from them in months,” and that the store ⇨ wash payment processing hadn’t been working since she’d started there.
…so!
I decided to at least try rebooting the on-site payment terminal with the master breaker switch (which is very large and very visibly placed, I should say,) if only because I thought it’d be interesting to watch such a legacy, time-worn piece of automation come back to life.
…and it was! I got to see the terminal boot from a quite sophisticated script and the sound of everything settling into place was enchanting, pitifully.
Unfortunately, though this did clear the error, it landed on (and got stuck) the exact same error when I tried my card lol
I had enough cash to rinse my car off, which was all I really needed in the end. That evening was one I’ll never forget (for other reasons too,) and I would encourage the owners of that car wash - if they happen to see this - to contact MFA Corporate (my employers) at their main phone number. Ya never know - they’ve expanded stores a lot and they might be interested in the property.

“Paytm Subscriptions”, the subscription service for businesses.
Local payment gateway Paytm has expanded its services and made it easier for companies to collect payments through various methods. Called “Paytm Subscriptions”, the subscription service for businesses will allow them to collect payments from their users through flexible payment methods such as Paytm Wallet, UPI or cards, the company said in a statement Tuesday. Subscribers and customers can choose and pay for themselves through their preferred payment option. Additionally, customers can make periodic payments for subscription-based services. While Paytm previously launched the subscription-based recurring payments feature, it has been limited to card and bank account transactions to this day and has now been extended to UPI as well.
The payment gateway will also be equipped with features such as pre-debit notifications, smart attempts, smart routing between multiple bank gateways, card expiration notifications, and smart error code management to ease the process of payment. The company now expects to attract more than 1,000 businesses over the next six months, as it has already integrated several leading online platforms such as Zee5, Disney +, Epic On, JioSaavan and Gaana among others.
Meanwhile, Paytm’s e-commerce subsidiary, Paytm Mall, recently suffered a massive data breach after a group of hackers attacked it. The group of attackers called John Wick demands a ransom in exchange for the data. The group was able to get unrestricted access to all its databases (Paytm Mall), a US cyber risk intelligence platform Cyble said in a report posted on its blog on Sunday.

Why does refreshing a payment page cancel the payment?
When a submits debit or credit card information to an e-commerce website, it is in turn submitted to the Payment Gateway website. All the data from the payment gateway website is then relayed to the bank server. The validity of the data is then verified through the payment terminal and the output is sent back to the payment gateway and the result of the transaction is conveyed to the e-commerce website.
There are so many processes involved when purchasing a product from an e-commerce website and the validity of the data is checked at every step. In order to prevent fraudulent transactions, the slightest inconsistency of data can lead to payment rejection. Refreshing a webpage during a transaction means resubmitting data. If the data is re-submitted, inconsistencies are noticed by the gateway and therefore the transaction is automatically canceled.
Cross server data is so sensitive that it is necessary to decline a transaction, if there is a slight discrepancy. So, if you submit your details for a second time, the payment ought to be canceled.

Here me out: Harry Potter success has less to do with JK Rowling’s “skills” and more to do with Superman and Star Wars. The timeline alone makes the narrative that Harry Potter-mania sprang fully formed from the aether by the shear will of Rowling, and here’s why:
1993: Vanity Fair announces that George Lucas will be making a prequel trilogy to the original Star Wars Series
Warner Bros buys the Superman Reborn script; hires Gregory Poirier to rework the script
1994: April: Star Wars: Episode I goes into pre-production
1995: While Poirier’s script impressed Warner Bros execs, they still hired Kevin Smith to rework it further, leading to Superman Lives
1996: Superman Lives goes into pre-production
28 January: Jerry Siegel, co-creator of Superman, dies, his heirs serve DC a termination notice that became effective on 16 April 1999
26 June 1997: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is published
1998: Harry Potter film rights sold to Warner Bros
Superman Lives gets canceled before filming was set to start in April
1999: 16 April: Siegel heirs gain 50% control of Superman from DC
19 May: Star Wars: Episode I - Phantom Menace is released
2000: 16 October: DC offers Siegel heirs a payment of $3 million, a $500,000 yearly stipend, a 6% royalty on Superman and a 1% royalty of his publications, and full medical benefits. In 2003, WB negotiations took place, and the Siegel family were allowed to terminate copyright between 2003 and 2016
Philosopher’s Stone goes into production
Just after the film rights were bought, Harry Potter books and merchandise started appearing everywhere. This was helped along by both very good reviews from the books and Satanic Panic related Evangelical backlash. If you were ever baffled by the Christian right being anti-Harry Potter, just remember that the Satanic Panic had crested in the early-90s with the West Memphis Three trial (and is now rearing it’s ugly head in the form of QAnon).
Also, it wasn’t initially Warner Bros first choice for a children’s book adaptation. The guy who noticed Harry Potter, David Heyman, was initially looking at Diana Wynne Jones’ book The Ogre Downstairs. And the reason why Heyman was looking at those books at all was because he was looking for something that could be adapted into a well received family film. Realistically, Warner Bros wanted a film that could be turned into a family friendly franchise that could bankroll riskier projects like The Matrix trilogy, The Lord of the Rings (New Line Cinema had just been bought by Time Warner), The Dark Knight trilogy.
And the best part about WB buying the Harry Potter film rights, the absolute accidental genius of Rowling’s lacklustre world building: it’s fucking merchandisable
Think about it. How quickly did toys, games, costumes, decorations, stationary, and branded products show up as soon as the first trailer dropped. Hell, just a month after The Philosopher’s Stone got released, EA releases the video game! The house system was a colour coded MBTI test that lets Rowling and WB quadruple their merch earnings by shear tribalism and confirmation bias. There being so many other elementary/middle grade fantasy books out there, they were all for girls! Rowling’s competition was Tamora Pierce’s Circle of Magic series, and those were girl books. Harry Potter appealed to girls and, more importantly, boys.

How To Make A Auto Clicker For Mac
How To Make A Auto Clicker For Mac Download
While most auto clickers are operating system independent, there are several Mac-only auto clickers also available in the market. They are more personalised to Mac commands and configurations. Once you download an auto clicker for your Mac, you will not need to worry about repetitive clicking on the screen. The clicker will automate that function for you. The download process and user guide for MAC in discussed here.
How to Download an Auto Clicker for Mac
Several auto clickers can be downloaded and used on your Macs. It all depends on personal choice and reviewing the best out of them.
Two recommended auto clickers are Advanced Auto Clicker (http://www.advanced-mouse-auto-clicker.com/mac-auto-clicker.html) and Auto Clicker for Mac by Murgaa.com. While the first auto clicker is free to download and widely used by people, the latter, even though it says it is free to download, requires a nominal payment. However, the service provided by the latter has also been reviewed to be of good quality.
As you visit the two sites, the download button will appear on your screen. Click on it and download the set-up files in the directory you want to.
Install the files and launch the clicker. The user-interface of the clicker is not complicated.
You will have to select the click interval between two consecutive clicks and select a location on the screen where you want the clicker on click. A parameter called Auto Stop can be set to stop clicking after a certain number of clicks or a time limit.
Select the type of clicking you want be it left click, right click, or a double click. Once you have set the parameters, start the clicker on your Mac.
Mac Auto Mouse Click Basics On a broad level, Mac Auto Mouse Click can be used to create a file which can store Mouse Clicks. The files created by Mac Auto Mouse Click software can be stored to desktop or to any other location using Finder, just like with any other software. Double Click on any of the saved file will open up the Mac Auto Mouse.
Search an Image on Screen and Automate Mouse Click or run a Macro with Image Search Utility presented here. The Software Application presented here allow you to monitor a rectangular area on Screen and when a pre-defined image appears on screen, a Macro Script containing Mouse Clicks, Key Press and other Windows Automation action can be started automatically.
Your Mac comes equipped with AppleScript, Automator, and Terminal, all of which can be used to create your own custom tools to make repetitive tasks easier. AppleScript and Terminal require a bit of coding to create an app or script, but Automator uses a graphical interface to allow you to create custom apps without having to learn a complex.
How to Make a Clicker on your Mac without any external Download (Trick)
Go to System Preferences and click on Universal Access. Click on Mouse and TrackPad followed by ‘Enable Access for Assistive Devices.’
Now open up Finder on your Mac and look up ‘Apple Script’. Open the folder and click on the Script Editor. This will serve as an auto clicker.
Copy and paste the following code there: on idle tell application “System Events” key code 87 end tell return 2 end idle
The ‘return 2’ determines the click interval. 2 symbolizes 2 seconds. You can change it according to your requirements. Now save the script with your preferred name and file format as ‘Application.’

Addressing The Claims Against Us
Hello, this is Skybrite Studios with our official statement.
It has recently come to our attention that a former member of ours has been spreading claims that we stole his character design. Many of you might not have heard of this, considering the situation has started only a few days ago. But we felt it necessary to explain ourselves.
For those of you who have seen the posts of Bastion’s concept or sprite, you’ve probably also seen the special thanks we’ve included post script, crediting the originator of his character. We’ve always acknowledged Alex for his role in Bastion’s creation, and we’ve made no secret of it.
That was until recently, when the events leading to the release of this statement resulted in his wish to have all his work and credit struck from our project, and for us to remove any and all association he had in relation to our studio. In compliance with his request, we’ve since taken down any mention of his name.
As many of you have guessed from the content of his claims, our initial parting of ways was less than amiable. Circumstances being as they were, we weren’t certain we’d end up hearing from him again. Our last contact with him was on November 22, 2019, and there was a long period of silence between his first departure and his messages sent a few days ago.
For various reasons that we will get into shortly, Alex was let go from our team. Unfortunately, not long before the fact, his father had been diagnosed with cancer; and a recent exchange between him and our original project lead (dated June 11, 2020) has made us aware of the fact that he believes this was the reason for his termination. The screenshots enclosed below will prove that this was not the case.
*Blue refers to Alex, black is the original leader, and red is an old member who is still with us. Out of respect for the privacy and protection of personal information regarding the parties involved, certain things not pertaining to this argument have been blanked out. We apologize for the lack of quality in some of the screenshots as Tumblr photo qualities aren’t the best.
Tumblr media
Albeit shared in private, messages between the other staff members (dating as far back as June 4, 2019) were already beginning to show signs of concern over his behavior:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This eventually led to the decision to let Alex go. Note that this decision was made on August 24, 2019 - months before his father’s diagnosis:
Tumblr media
Due to personal reasons, the original leader took a step back from our project and she never stayed long enough to follow through.
This brings us to November 22, 2019, when she handed the project over to our current project lead, Sarah:
Tumblr media
Following this, she went to our other veteran member to let her know that the project lead had changed for an indefinite amount of time and that her continued presence on the team would be appreciated - something she accepted and agreed to. This other member was then consulted over Alex’s behaviour and what was to be done:
Tumblr media
After this conversation, Alex was informed in private about the decision to let him go. She told him that he would be credited for whatever ideas and characters he came up with that we intended to keep. Although he didn’t object at this point, the fault lies with us for not confirming this with him before continuing to use said ideas and characters; an oversight that we own and take responsibility for. Sarah also apologizes on not having been more empathetic towards his personal situation while letting him go. Having the project handed to her so suddenly as well as trying to figure out where to go from there was overwhelming and it ended up not being done at the best time. This is not excusing her, however, and she is aware of her faults.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After he was let go, he proceeded to mass delete the messages he’d left in the group chat with neither notice nor permission. It wasn’t until Sarah noticed and informed the original project lead that he was kicked from the server and stopped.
Tumblr media
Although far from amiable, we’d assumed that our parting of ways marked the end of this episode. We never reached out to him and he never made contact with us. We never chatted directly again since his departure. But as fellow members of a relatively small community we still ran in the same circles; which was how we came to learn that he was developing a game of his own. The workload of a game developer (especially one who is working alone) is quite heavy, so we assumed this was another reason why he never spoke to us; and out of respect for his work ethic and maintaining the status quo, we kept to ourselves. For months, neither he nor us messaged, and it seemed we were each content to let the other exist quietly within the same space.
That was until June 12, 2020, when the original project lead suddenly messaged Sarah, informing her that Alex had messaged her, threatening legal action over ‘stealing’ his character. A message that appeared in Sarah’s inbox shortly confirmed her statement.
Tumblr media
As the current project lead and one of the members of the original team Alex was a part of, Alex chose Sarah to reach out to with this message. This was her response and part of their subsequent exchange:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although we had plans to pay him from the beginning, being that our tenuous relationship was what it was and the fact that this game was still in early development (in addition to the chance that this game may not turn a profit) we didn’t want to rock the boat by contacting him and distracting him from his own development work before we had his paycheck in hand. Another oversight on our part, and we should have told him earlier.
After digging and coming back with receipts for all the work he had done, this was what we came back with:
The concept art of Bastion
1,000 words worth of script within the prologue
Miscellaneous ideas that he’d brainstormed with the rest of our staff.
We consulted each of our staff for their regular rates to come up with an appropriate amount. Our concept artist charges $10 per concept. We offered him $20. We had no dedicated brainstormers on our team at the time, so ideas were a little harder to put a price on. But we decided on an initial offer of $5 for all the ideas he’d come up with (that we intended to keep), intending to go into negotiations with an open mind regarding pricing on this front. Fortunately we didn’t have the same problem with calculating what he was owed for his writing, which, according to various sources, showed that the industry standard was about $0.02 a word. To help us with calculating the price of his written work, we had Sarah who co-wrote the prologue with him highlight everything he’d written as well as all the parts that she wasn’t sure who’d written. The total word count of the high-lighted portions came down to just over 1,000 words. This, we rounded up to 1,100 to account for anything we might have missed. Using our rate of $0.02 a word, all written services rendered came down to $22 and gave us an overall total of $47 for all the work that he’d done.
In response, he requested $50 and 10% of any and all future sales. While we didn’t mind giving him the $50, 10% of all earnings was a lot to ask relative to how little was contributed, let alone used.
He claimed to be one of the founding members of a project conceived between the original project lead and her friend. He also claimed to have developed ‘most of the characters’. For the most part, during the brain-storming process, exactly who came up with what can be easy to lose track of, but even when digging through the entire chat history of our original discord server, we could not find evidence that he had any involvement with anything beyond fleshing out Bastion - though it should be noted that most of what he came up with, we ultimately decided against using. In addition, he has made similar claims with the plot, lore, and the prologue.
As mentioned earlier, we acknowledge his part in writing the 1,000 words he contributed to the prologue he co-wrote with Sarah. Having said that, the word count of the completed prologue prior to editing was almost 11,000, expanding quite a bit from his own contributions.
The ‘advertisement’ he claimed to have done for our game consisted of spreading our project through word-of-mouth via a few posts to discord servers, speaking with real-life friends and the premature reveal of Bastion’s character for an Art Fight.
Alex also made claims to have ran the Tumblr, our main form of advertisement. While he did have access to our original Tumblr, Sarah was the one to originally create it. Before his departure only two to three posts had been made on the platform.
He claims to have gathered resources. However, those resources were just reference pictures that we, as mentioned previously, did not use. He also said that he directed Sarah when he was in no position/had no authority to do so.
Sarah explained this to him, admittedly a bit heated throughout, to which he then told her to forget the payment and remove everything he did; else he would file a DMCA report:
Tumblr media
Most of what he claimed to have done, he did not do. He did not create the concept art for any of the characters except Bastion. Our concept artist, Cate, did. He claims that he came up with the concept of a tenuous relationship between the human and demon races when it’s been a common trope in media for years: Humans vs. Demons. He created a font, but it was not requested nor have there been any plans to use it. He also claimed to have come up with the idea to put in more LGBTQ+ options in the dating sim - something which has been done many times in VNs like these, not to mention it was always the original leaders’ intention to include these options. In addition, Sarah was actually the one to bring up “evening out” the ratio. Here is a closer look at the screenshot she sent him:
Tumblr media
Sarah even explained to him that if he were to demand a ‘tithe’, he would also be accountable for a tenth of the losses should the game fail to turn a profit. He then told her, again, to delete all of his work, along with anything that would associate us with him:
Tumblr media
We agreed and deleted all of his written work. However, she told him Bastion did not need to and would not be deleted. Cate had changed his concept, and we’d fleshed Bastion out very differently to how Alex had imagined him. His DMCA report would be considered invalid for various reasons, including that he asked us to remove his written work- the only work of his that we'd been using prior to its removal per his request:
Tumblr media
For reference to show how he’s changed, here is (in up-to-down order) his final concept of Bastion, our final concept for him, and our official sprite:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*More context and information regarding these concepts further down
Following this, he did not respond. Instead, he went back to our original project lead to find anything that could prove he legally owns Bastion due to Sarah having declined to give him the 10% of all future sales he’d asked for:
Tumblr media
*The time is different because the original leader and Sarah live in different timezones.
In response to this, he has been claiming that we stole from him despite crediting him and intending to pay him. This is defamation. Moreover, it had been discovered that Bastion's original concept was not even created by him.
After discussing things with our original leader, she told us that she was actually the one who drew the original concept of Bastion. In fact, the idea of having a Paladin LI that Alex claimed was also thought up by her and her friend. Alex’s only contributions to the character were coming up with his name, making him half-human half-elf, and black - all traits that are public domain/fair use and can not be copyrighted.
Here are all the screenshots in chronological order:
Tumblr media
These were some of the first messages sent after Alex joined. As you can see in the picture, he asked what ideas the original leaders had. A paladin LI was already in the works before he joined.
Tumblr media
This was the original project lead’s first concept of a paladin LI.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was Alex’s rendition, sent after the original leader’s. Unfortunately, no matter how long we waited, the second photo would not load. But it was similar to his concept art above.
Tumblr media
*Note that the hairstyle is different
Tumblr media
He then sent this link. Within this document, there was a reference photo as well as a drawing of his.
This was his reference photo:
Tumblr media
This was his drawing:
Tumblr media
However, it appears to have been traced. Below are photos of both images layered on top of one another-- one with the drawing on top and one with the reference on top:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shortly afterwards, the original project lead sent in her drawings for Bastion:
Tumblr media
This was the first time this hairstyle had been drawn on Bastion. This was also what Alex stuck with for his final concept. The design he was trying to claim was actually created by our original project lead. If you compare our art side-by-side, you can see that our official sprite takes more inspiration from our original leader’s than it does Alex’s.
We said at the beginning that we have not stolen anything, and we stand by that.
Everything we’re using is either public domain, a popular cliche, or interpretations which fall under fair use. We offered to credit and pay Alex and he ended up declining. We hope this helps with answering most of your questions. If anyone has anything they would like to ask or see addressed, our inbox is always open.
And please, to anyone who knows of this situation personally as well as know who is involved, don’t send any negativity towards any of them.
Sincerely,
~The Skybrite Team ❤️

WILDCAT
December 17, 1960
Tumblr media
Wildcat is a musical comedy about Wildcat Jackson and her sister who come to oil country in 1912 to strike it rich. She runs into the prowess of Joe Dynamite, and a battle of the sexes and the oil tycoons ensues.
Tumblr media
Wildcat wasn’t written with the 48 year-old queen of comedy in mind so when she showed interest, the script by N. Richard Nash had to be radically re-written.
Tumblr media
At the start of the 1960’s Ball’s career was taking a new direction. She was leaving her TV personae Lucy Ricardo (as well as her real-life husband Desi Arnaz) behind for newer horizons. It was their company Desilu that would produce Wildcat with Lucy having say over who would be cast as her co-star. After several of her first choices proved not available (including Clint Eastwood), she settled on Keith Andes.
Tumblr media
Although Ball was not known for her singing (a fact she traded on in “I Love Lucy”) or her dancing (which she was far better at), she had the determination of Wildcat Jackson to attempt it eight times a week.
Tumblr media
Director and choreographer Michael Kidd – known for his athletic dances – would put Ball through her paces. The score was by Cy Coleman with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, giving Ball the rousing anthem “Hey, Look Me Over!” and the tuneful “What Takes My Fancy.”
Tumblr media
The out-of-town critics were mixed, but obviously adored the red-headed star. The show was headed up the New Jersey Turnpike in trucks headed for Broadway when a serious blizzard stranded the caravan, causing the opening night to be delayed.
Tumblr media
With just two previews under their belt, the show opened at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon) on December 17, 1960. Box office sales were buoyed by audiences expecting to see Lucy Ricardo, not Lucille Ball as Wildy Jackson, so eventually Ball interpolated more and more of her trademark comic inflections into her character.
Tumblr media
Then Ball took ill. She left the show for a bit with the idea to return and continue the run. But upon her return she collapsed on stage. Producers decided to close the show for as long as it took her to recover and resume when her strength and health had returned. But the musicians union insisted upon payment during the hiatus, which made the wait financially unfeasible.
Tumblr media
All in all, Wildcat lasted 171 performances. It wasn’t Ball’s only musical, however. In 1974 she took on the title role in the film of Mame with mixed to poor critical reactions.
Tumblr media
"Then I go to New York with the two children, my mother and two maids. We have a seven-room apartment on 69th Street at Lexington. I’ll start rehearsals right away for a Broadway show, 'Wildcat.’ It’s a comedy with music, not a musical comedy, but the music is important. I play a girl wildcatter in the Southwestern oil fields around the turn of the century. It was written by N. Richard Nash, who wrote 'The Rainmaker.’ He is co-producer with Michael Kidd, the director. We’re still looking for a leading man. I want an unknown. He has to be big, husky, around 40. He has to be able to throw me around, and I’m a pretty big girl. He has to be able to sing, at least a little. I have to sing, too. It’s pretty bad. When I practice, I hold my hands over my ears. We open out of town - I don’t know where - and come to New York in December.”  ~ Lucille Ball,  TV Guide, July 16, 1960

THE CAST
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (Wildcat Jackson) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon, which was not a success and was canceled after just 13 episodes.
Tumblr media
Keith Andes (Joe Dynamite) was born John Charles Andes in Ocean City, New Jersey, in 1920. Andes played Lucy Carmichael’s boyfriend Bill King on “The Lucy Show” in “Lucy Goes Duck Hunting” (TLS S2;E6) and “Lucy and the Winter Sports” (TLS S3;E3) and played Brad Collins in “Lucy and Joan” (S4;E4) co-starring Joan Blondell.  Andes took his own life in 2005 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Valerie Harper (Dancer, right) became one of television’s most recognizable stars as “Rhoda” (1974-78) a spin-off of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” She appeared in  at “Kennedy Center Presents” honoring Lucy in 1986. She died in August 2019 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Tumblr media
Paula Stewart (Janie) appears in the fourth of her six Broadway musicals between 1951 and 1965.  Her only series television appearance opposite Lucille Ball was in “Lucy and Harry’s Tonsils” (HL S2;E5) in 1969. In 2017, she published a memoir titled Lucy Loved Me, about her friendship with Lucille Ball.
Hal Linden (Matt, replacement) became one of television’s most recognizable stars as “Barney Miller” (1974-82). He appeared at an “All-Star Party for Lucille Ball” in 1984 and at “Kennedy Center Presents” honoring Lucy in 1986.
Howard Fischer (Sheriff Sam Gore)
Ken Ayers (Barney)
Anthony Saverino (Luke)
Edith King (Countess Emily O'Brien)
Clifford David (Hank)
HF Green (Miguel)
Don Tomkins (Sookie)
Charles Braswell (Matt)
Bill Linton (Corky)
Swen Swenson (Oney)
Ray Mason (Sandy)
Bill Walker (Tattoo)
Al Lanti (Cisco)
Bill Richards (Postman)
Marsha Wagner (Inez)
Wendy Nickerson (Blonde)
Betty Jane Watson (Wildy Understudy)
Dancers: Barbara Beck, Robert Bakanic, Mel Davidson, Penny Ann Green, Lucia Lambert, Ronald Lee, Jacqueline Maria, Frank Pietrie, Adriane Rogers, John Sharpe, Gerald Tiejelo
Singers: Lee Green, Jan Leighton, Urylee Leonardos, Virginia Oswald, Jeanne Steele, Gene Varrone
MRS. MORTON
Tumblr media
Lucy met Gary Morton while doing Wildcat on Broadway. She put off their first date due to her rigorous performance schedule. Eventually, he showed up with a pizza just when Lucy was craving one. They married on November 19, 1961.
Tumblr media
Comic Jack Carter served as best man at Lucy and Gary’s wedding in 1961.  A few weeks later he married Paula Stewart, who played Lucy’s sister Janie in Wildcat. He acted in “Lucy Sues Mooney” (TLS S6;E12).
“HEY LOOK ME OVER!”
Tumblr media
On June 4, 1976 Lucille is joined by Valerie Harper and Dinah Shore on “Dinah!” to sing her signature song from Wildcat, “Hey, Look Me Over.”
Tumblr media
When Lucille Ball was celebrated at “The Kennedy Center Honors” in December 1986, Valerie Harper, Beatrice Arthur, and Pam Dawber sang a song parody of the “I Love Lucy” theme expressing their affection for Lucy. The medley ends with a specially-tailored “Hey Look Me Over”.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and Carol Burnett: Part 2″ (TLS S6;E15) on December 11, 1967, Lucy, Carol, and the ensemble perform “Hey, Look Me Over” with specially written lyrics to suit the episode’s theme of air travel.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy Meets Danny Kaye” (TLS S3;E15) on December 28, 1964, the opening of “The Danny Kaye Show” is underscored with the music to “Hey, Look Me Over.”
Tumblr media
While David Frost is trying to sleep during a transatlantic flight, Lucy wears her headset and hums along to “Hey Look Me Over” while tapping it out on the glasses with her cutlery.  The scene is from “Lucy Helps David Frost Go Night-Night” (HL S4;E12) aired on November 12, 1971.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and Petula Clark” (HL S5;E8) in 1972, Lucy Carter leaves the office singing “Hey Look Me Over.”
Tumblr media
On “Life With Lucy,” Lucy’s grandson Kevin plays on the YMCA soccer team The Wildcats. The name of the team is probably a reference to Lucille Ball’s only Broadway show.
Tumblr media
In the second scene of “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” (1986), an un-aired episode of “Life With Lucy”, Lucy comes down the stairs of the living room singing “Hey Look Me Over.”
WILDCAT WILDCARDS
Tumblr media
In April 1961, Lucille Ball played softball in Central Park for the Broadway Show League when she was appearing in Wildcat. Julie Andrews (starring in Camelot) was the catcher!  The catcher was Joe E. Brown.
Tumblr media
In the play Love! Valour! Compassion! Buzz, a gay musical theater aficionado (Nathan Lane on Broadway) breaks the fourth wall (a common conceit of the play) to tell the audience something personal about himself.
Tumblr media
The song title was also the title of a 2018 revue about rarely produced musicals at City Center in New York City.  Performer Carolee Carmello called it her “hair homage to Lucille Ball.”

Part 1 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Tumblr media
When Keanu made his way to the wardrobe department to return the suit he had worn that day, he had a smile on his face. It had been a really good day of shooting. They finished all the nightclub scenes and on Monday they would move on to some night shootings and the action scenes, so the real fun was about to begin.
He was truly excited about this project. Not that Keanu wasn’t excited for the other movies he’d done in the past years, but John Wick just felt different. The entire thing excited him, and Keanu felt almost as if he was in his thirties again filming The Matrix.
He handed the suit back to Luca and just as he was about to step out, his eyes caught a flash of white on the floor and Keanu paused to pick it up. It was a driver’s license and he couldn’t help but smile when he recognized the face in the picture. It was the extra Keanu had spent some time talking to that morning.
He always made sure to talk to everyone involved in a project and he had only meant to say hi, just like he had done with everyone else. But he caught the title of her book and he ended up staying longer than he intended. Lilah had been fun to talk to and it had been a while since he had a chance to talk philosophy with someone other than Lawrence, but it wasn’t a big deal.
It couldn’t be a big deal because he was in the middle of a project and he couldn’t afford any distractions. No matter if he thought the way her dark eyes brightened up with excitement as she talked and the hint of an accent over some words were cute; or how endearing it was when she blurted out the Kant thing without even noticing…
“Hey, I was looking for you!” Chad’s voice startled Keanu of his musings. “What’s that?”
He snatched the license from Keanu’s hand before he could even think of reacting and his smile turned into a smirk.
“Isn’t this that cute brunette you were flirting with this morning?”
Keanu saw Luca look up from his task of organizing the costumes, suddenly way too interested in the conversation. With a quick wave, Keanu pulled Chad out of the room, glaring at his friend.
“I wasn’t flirting,” he started, but he could already feel his neck warm with embarrassment. “But, uh… You saw that?”
“Everyone saw that,” Chad said with a grin. “Maybe don’t flirt with women in the middle of the set.”
“I was just saying hi,” Keanu protested. “Like I always do.”
“Right,” Chad snorted. “At some point in saying hi, did you get her number?”
“I didn’t think of that,” he said, rubbing his nape and Chad just gave him a disbelieving look. “Fine, maybe I did, but I shouldn’t have.”
And if Keanu picked up his pace a little to try to get away from this conversation, he knew Chad wouldn’t call him on it, but it didn’t mean his friend would let him escape it either.
“Look, I’m just saying… when was the last time you’ve been on a date?”
Keanu took a moment to think about it because he had had quite a few busy years.
“Ok, if you have to think about it, it’s been too long,” Chad piped in before he could even open his mouth. “Look, I’m not saying marry her. One date. What’s the harm?”
“Should I make a list?” he snorted, shaking his head. “Besides, I don’t even know if she would be interested.”
Chad just scoffed at his words, shaking his head, before he handed the ID back to Keanu.
“Then find out. Get her number from production. See what happens. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you smiling like that.”
“Like what?” Keanu asked confused.
Chad snorted again, rolling his eyes as he left Keanu standing in the middle of the set with a confused look.
Keanu stared at the smiling face on the license, contemplating what to do with a sigh. Well, even if Chad was talking crazy, he should make sure Lilah got her ID back.
So, Keanu tracked down one of the casting assistants and stuttered his way into asking for Lilah’s number and why he needed it.
“Hello?” she answered after the third ring, sounding a little distracted.
“Hi. Lilah?” Keanu asked to make sure and she hummed in agreement. “It’s Keanu.”
“Hi…” she greeted after a pause. “How did you get my number?”
“Production,” Keanu answered with a wince, because how creepy was that?
“Listen, I think you dropped your driver’s license.”
“I did?” she asked sounding confused and he heard some rustling on the other side of the line. “Shit! I did. Thank you! I’m heading over to pick it up.”
“Set is closing down for the weekend,” he said as he paused by his bike, tapping the tank. “I-uh… could bring it to you.”
“No, no. I don’t want to trouble you.”
“No trouble,” Keanu assured. “I was heading out anyway.”
“Are you sure?” she seemed to hesitate. “I mean, I’m in Brooklyn…”
“I’m sure,” he assured once again. “Give me an address and I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
“Ok,” she replied, and he could hear the smile in her voice. “Thank you.”
The address Lilah gave him turned out to be this small bookstore/coffeeshop called Novelsy. Its storefront was so discreet Keanu ended up driving past it a couple of times before the green awning with white letters finally caught his eye.
As soon as he stepped inside, he was greeted by the smell books, coffee, and baked goods as a small chime tinkled, bringing forth a blonde young woman. Her greeting died on her lips as her eyes went wide. Keanu shifted uncomfortably, moving his helmet from one arm to the other.
“Hi, I’m looking for Lilah,” he said, silently praying she wouldn’t make a big deal out of his presence.
“I’ll take care of this, Mandy,” said a tall brunette, her green eyes giving him a quick once-over. “Lilah had to take a call. Why don’t you look around and I’ll make sure she finds you?”
Keanu hesitated for a moment, before nodding and moving towards the aisles of bookcases, still feeling her gaze following him. It was a little unnerving.
He walked around, browsing the shelves aimlessly, pausing here and there to pick up a book that caught his attention. When had been the last time Keanu had done that? Had the time to do that? He really couldn’t remember but walking around in Novelsy just for the sake of it felt really good and when Lilah finally found him, Keanu had picked a couple of books he had been meaning to read, among them a poetry anthology by Pablo Neruda.
“Hey!” Lilah greeted with a wide, warm smile that made his own lips drawn upward. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
“No problem. I kept myself busy,” Keanu replied gesturing to the books in his hands, while he sneaked a quick once-over.
Lilah had exchanged the red party dress, which was probably a costume piece for the movie, he realized it now, for jeans and a sweater that said Hogwarts alumni and Keanu actually thought she looked more beautiful like that. And he should not be thinking that at all.
“Anyway… is this your card?” he asked, pulling out her license from his jacket pocket with a flourish and could he be more of a goof?
“Yes, it is. Thank you!”
Lilah’s chuckle turned into a grimace as she took it from his hand and glanced at it.
“Urgh! I hate that picture.”
Keanu looked over at the ID again like he hadn’t stared at it several times for the past couple of hours.
In the picture, her brown hair fell to her shoulders in messy waves, framing her face quite prettily. Her rimmed glasses made her brown eyes look larger and her shy smile showed braces in her teeth.
“It’s not bad,” he commented, and Lilah snorted in disbelief, pocking it.
“Anyway, thanks for taking the time to bring it to me.”
“No problem,” Keanu reassured again with a smile.
They lapsed in that awkward silence of people who didn’t know what to say to each other, which was weird because their conversation had flowed so well this morning.
“Did you find everything you needed?” she asked, gesturing at the books in his hands.
“So far, yes. But I want to take another look.” It was almost six after all and if he left now, he would get stuck in traffic.
“Go ahead, there’s a used book section on the other side of the store if that’s your thing, and if you need anything, I’m your girl!”
Keanu ducked his head, hiding his chuckle with his hand. He liked the sound of that way too much.
Once again it took Lilah a second too long to realize what she said, and her eyes went wide, as she covered her mouth.
“Oh my God, I didn’t mean… I’m so sorry. I’m not trying to hit on you or anything…” Keanu couldn’t help but wince a little at her words.
“Not that I wouldn’t hit on you,” she continued, having picked up on his discomfort. “I mean, you’re you. Who wouldn’t…? I’m gonna stop talking now.”
Lilah’s face was bright red and she couldn’t meet his eyes at all. Keanu just huffed another chuckle and shook his head. The way she blundered with words was adorable.
“It’s ok, Lilah. I get it. I’ll call if I need anything.”
She gave him a quick nod, leaving Keanu to move through the aisles again, eyes scanning the titles in front of him, but after another fifteen minutes of wandering around, he decided was for the best just stick with the ones he already got. He barely had the time to read anything but scripts lately.
Keanu returned to the front of the store, finding Lilah behind the register counter, finishing the sale for an elderly lady. Once she moved away, Keanu stepped up and Lilah’s expression opened again in that warm smile of greeting.
“So you work here?” he asked because he noticed most employees had a green apron over their clothes.
“No, but I help out whenever they need,” she explained taking the books along with his debit card.
As Lilah handed him the payment terminal, Keanu raked his brain for something to say. He was almost 50, shouldn’t he be better at this?
Before he managed to figure out, she handed him his receipt and books in a paper bag and Keanu was left with no other excuse to be there and keep talking to her.
He fidgeted with his helmet. Because there were only two options right now: ask her out or leave. And Keanu really wanted to ask her out. Not for a date or anything, but maybe just a coffee. Talk a little more. She seemed like an interesting person and it didn’t have to be a big deal.
He looked up at her, catching the way she quickly glanced away, ducking her head and tucking her hair behind her ear. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but when he opened his mouth, all he managed was thank you.
“Hey, uh, would you let me buy you a cup of coffee?” Lilah asked, stepping away from the register counter again. “As a thank you for coming all this way.”
“You don’t have to,” Keanu rushed to say. “It was no trouble.”
“Please?” she gave him a hesitant smile and his heart actually sped up. What the hell was wrong with him?
“Sure.”
Lilah grinned wide and led the way to a quite charming café with mismatched sets of colorful tables and chairs, star-shaped hanging lampshades and intricate flower pattern wallpaper. The scent of sugar and spice was stronger here and made Keanu’s stomach growl, reminding him that his last meal had been lunch.
“I’m over there,” she gestured to a table tucked away in a corner, cluttered with a laptop and books. “How do you take your coffee?”
“Black, no sugar.”
Keanu moved towards the table while Lilah headed to the counter to place their order. He set his helmet and books on a free chair while taking the other, glancing at the book titles scattered around.
“Alright, coffee for you, tea for me and cookies for both!” Lilah announced as she returned with one Styrofoam cup in one hand, one mug on the other and balancing a plate on top. “If you could move those two.”
Keanu complied with her request, picking up the books she pointed out so she could set her burden on the table and sat down.
“I’m guessing you’re studying psychology?”
“What gave it away?” she took the books from him and set on the floor, by her bag. “I’m a Ph.D. candidate at Steinhardt. On my last year, hence the chaos…” Lilah gestured at the mess of books and notes and he chuckled.
Once again the awkward silence set between them and Keanu cradled his coffee cup, trying to figure out what to say. It had been so long since he felt like a tongue-tied teen like this. His only comfort was that Lilah seemed to be just at loss for words as he was.
“So, uh, you got a Neruda book. I’ve, uh, head some great things about him,” Lilah said, finally breaking the silence and he sighed in relief.
“He’s pretty good,” Keanu said, picking up the book and offering to her.
“I’ve never been a big fan of poetry,” Lilah said flipping through it. “There a few I like, like The Raven and some by Augusto dos Anjos, but I prefer prose.”
“I don’t know that last one.”
“Oh, he’s Brazilian. I’m not sure if his stuff was ever translated to English.”
Lilah took out her phone and searched for something, before offering to Keanu.
He took it from her hands, his fingers brushing against hers and it felt like a spark of electricity had shot through him. When Keanu met Lilah’s gaze again, she was frowning, and he wondered if she felt the same.
Swallowing around the lump in his throat, Keanu looked back at the screen, attention being drawn by one of the darkest and most bizarre sonnets he ever read in his life.
“Why on Earth do you like that?” he asked once he finished.
“Because it’s weird!” Lilah declared, grinning. “It almost feels like he looked at everyone else doing love poems and shit and just: Nah, let’s get scientifically morbid. I’ve always thought that was pretty awesome.”
“What’s wrong with love poems?” Keanu asked, leaning forward on the table a little as he watched her.
Her eyes seemed to glow with excitement as she talked, her entire face lid up and her smile was gorgeous.
“Nothing’s wrong with them,” she commented tracing patterns on the table. “If you like reading millions of versions of the exact same thing.”
Lilah looked up at him, spotting a small dismissive smirk on her lips and Keanu chuckled, pushing the book towards her.
“Neruda’s different,” he assured with a smile. “Give it a try.”
“Keanu, no. You’ve just bought this.”
“It’s just a loan,” Keanu said. “Just give me a call when you’re done, we’ll get coffee and talk about it.”
“You’re sure?” She asked, taking the book and he nodded. “Thank you. I promise I’ll take good care of it. There is a special level of hell for people who mistreat borrowed books, you know?”
“Oh really?” he couldn’t have but smile at her.
“Yes! It’s the same one reserved for people who talk during movies and E.L. James,” she joked, and Keanu laughed.
“Good to know,” he replied, picking up his helmet as he noticed the time. It was almost seven. He completely lost track of time.
“I should get going. Thanks for the coffee.”
“Thanks for the loan.”
Lilah got up too and walked him to the front door of the store. When he turned to look at her, he noticed she was holding the book cradled against her chest.
“Sonnet XI is my favorite.”
Keanu wasn’t sure why he said it, but it earned him a small, shy smile as she nodded and held the door for him.
“It was really nice to meet you, Keanu.”
“You too, Lilah.”

I do NOT recommend Planet Fitness. They have the $10/mo sure, BUT depending on the franchise there is also a steep “contract catchup” sign-on fee for everyone regardless of membership, but it’s especially steep for $10/mo + has a massive fee if you terminate your membership—the further away it is from your “anniversary” with PF, the more expensive the fee is. (It’s why they try upselling the Black Card $24-30/mo membership so bad. It’s also why the more you pay/mo the cheaper your signon fee is—yes, the BlackCard almost always has a cheaper signon fee than the $10/mo. Yes it’s disgusting.) You’re also charged $5 per visit to any gym that you didn’t sign up for.
IF you need to go the PF route, do yourself a solid and wait for the $15/mo No Commitment. The signon is a *bit* cheaper than the $10/mo, but the real advantage here is that you can terminate your membership at any time without an astronomical contract buyout fee. Otherwise it’s the exact same membership as the $10/mo…but I’m not joking. You do NOT want that contract fee. No they don’t waive it when you cancel, yes they do take record of why you’re canceling (ie: can’t afford it.) (And no, they don’t just do One Fee unless you happen to get the General Manager and they deem to be nice to you and break several rules.)
Lockers: sure they have lockers. However they’re 24 hrs only. They WILL cut your lock and they WILL throw out your stuff, especially if it’s a cleaner gym. If you’re lucky they’ll store it in Lost&Found. If not it’s Gone.
Sidenote: allegedly not every PF does this, but the franchise I worked under insisted on doing payments directly to your bank account—that’s right, they took your BANK INFORMATION before they’d sign you up and do automatic billing that way—not to your credit card. So besides being sketchy as hell (and no way to turn off automatic billing), with those gyms at least you can’t even sign on if you don’t have a bank account. The most you could do if your account is empty is pay cash in person for an overdue bill (which might have interest attached. I really can’t remember.)
Also…do not eat the tootierolls. They’re there for quick caloric spikes, especially for people suffering from low bloodsugar. However…roaches and bugs lay their eggs in them. That giant bucket is almost never emptied, more candy’s only added on top. They also never just toss a bucket’s worth of candy and start over with fresh.
But… TL;DR:
Don’t bother with Planet Fitness unless you don’t have a better alternative for a guaranteed shower. IF you have to buy a member ship, wait for the $15/mo No Commitment promo and wait to sign up as close to the promo’s end date as possible to get the lowest Signon Fee possible to avoid the hefty cancelation fee + still pretty bad signon fee “because Retail Logic.” Check the store’s policy on billing before signing up—this is as easy as simply requesting a tour. Unless they changed the script the sheets they give you at the end should include the payment methods (including the signon fees, at least.)
Honestly? It’s a far better option to tag along with a Black Card member (they can take a single guest with them per day for free (well, for the guest)) if you know a guy. Another alternative is to check and see what a Single Day Fee is without a membership, but I don’t think every store does that or they put a limit on it to force a membership. (They also make a profile of you to put you “in the database” for all future checkins, guests included.)
What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless
FOOD
Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit
SHELTER
Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
Some churches offer short term residence
Find your nearest homeless shelter
Look for places that are open to the public
A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry
HYGIENE
A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
Local beaches, go for a quick swim
Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket
OTHER
first aid kit
 sunscreen
a travel alarm clock or watch
 mylar emergency blanket
 a backpack is a must
downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards
 sleeping bag
travel kit of toothbrush, hair brush/comb, mirror
 swiss army knife
 can opener
