The dog was barking and I went out to see what was the matter. The dog was at the old elm tree barking at something up in the lower branches. I could spy some blue and bits of greenish. Yes indeed, the dog had treed a Germander! Well, there was no calming the dog, so I coaxed the Germander down, give it a few good pets, took a pic for good measure. And fed it to the dog.

Peace at Last

"For a long time, I've had an affinity for the paranormal. Things that just aren't logical enough to be explained away. For other folks it's mythical creatures, for me, it's ghosts and spirits."

"Lots of other folks thought I was being silly, that I couldn't see, or speak with ghosts. That's one of the reasons why I've started documenting strange events and haunted locations, for proof."

"If you look closely, spirits are everywhere. A room in an old mansion, a park at night, or a busy street in the centre of town. Different circumstances and locations, but full of a special energy."

"Many folks who live with a spirit don't mind. The spirit never bothers them, only those who offend the spirit. Rumours spread like wildfire, and eventually, I hear about them, and I'll offer help."

"Whenever I hear about places where folks saw ghosts, I'll head there to find out with my camera at the ready. I'm always warned not to go in there, but over the years, I've learnt a lot of things."

"One thing is that animals can sense things others can't. I guess my habit of finding ghosts got the attention of a few cats, that I've adopted since. Pecan, Void and Whisp are always by my side."

"Another thing is respect. Intruding on somepony else is very rude and spirits are no different. If you find a spirit, treat them like you would a good friend. Ask before you take a picture of them."

"Sometimes, though, it's difficult. Not scary, or dangerous, but… rough. Parents who have lost a foal, a filly missing her pet, or an older Pony asking for one final moment with their loved one."

"Spirits use what little energy they have to stay longer, as if they aren't ready to depart. Using my magic, they become clear enough for a picture. Nothing is more bittersweet than their smiles…"

"Then, after I've spoken with them, and taken their picture, everything goes silent. The spirit is at peace, and departs. I always give the pictures I take to those who were closest to them."
