Che + Joe
Prologue
Che 'Taza' Romero x Original Cis Male Character (Joseph Balik)
Author's Note: I've recently finished binge watching Mayans after originally only seeing the first seasons and losing interest. After watching the story line about David, I fell in love with Taza and was searching for fics with male readers or characters as the love interest but there are none that I could find so I decided to just write one myself.
I don't 100% know what the MC's opinions on queer people are because it's not entirely clear in the show so I'm making my own assumptions. Bishop is evidently not impressed when Che reveals his bisexuality and Isaac stated when talking to Coco that one of the two ways that will get you killed in the club is homosexual behaviour. Bishop's distain is a little muddled due to the fact that it is mixed with his reaction to finding out Che killed Riz so it's not entirely clear how much of the reaction was centred around Che's bisexuality. As well, when in confrontation with the Swole Boys, Angel refers to their bikes as ' homo-cycles', evidently displaying prejudice behaviour, referring to something you don't like as 'gay'. On the other hand, Bishop has never displayed any clear disgust for his ex-wife's queerness as she now is married to a woman after they split. So I'm going with that the Mayans don't outwardly, violently hate queer people and will be amicable with Joe but it is unacceptable within the club as enforced by their rules and members will display various micro-aggressions toward queer characters and queerness in general throughout the story. Some characters in and out of the MC will display more hostility towards queer characters so this is a warning for readers who may be triggered by homophobic ideals, language and actions. If any of you have any ideas or sentiments towards how you view the member's of the MC and their thought on the LGBTQIA+ community, feel free to share them with me.
Given Raoul's age of 63 in 2018, I'm placing Taza at about 60 years old. Joe, who is physically and a little personality wise based on Antoni Porowski, will be be about 41 years old.
Chapters in the future will be explicit but will contain warnings for anyone who may find that uncomfortable.

Summary: After years of struggle, Joseph Balik opens up a new cafe in the middle of Santo Padre. With the overwhelming presence of the Mayans, Joe is eager to keep out of their way. Plans are quickly altered when Vice Presidente literally crashes into Joe's life, sending both of their lives in to a chaotic spin
Tumblr media
It didn’t take long for word of Malino’s to spread through Santo Padre. The town was slight enough to notice any new movement in a years old abandon shop front along the main road. With a breath of fresh air and bright façade in the arid desert environment, Malino’s was quickly overrun with customers eager to evaluate the new establishment.
Opening the café had been in the works for years. Having immigrated from Poland at a young age, Joe was no stranger to the teasing quips and mocking accents of the school yard. It didn’t take long before Joe was shifting the cadence of his speech in the hopes of sounding more akin to the smooth drawl of a regular Californian kid. Soon, everything that made Joe himself, had been replaced with the customs of a new country and the denial of his heritage. It had taken years for Joe to reconcile with the internalised distain for his differences.
It had been early college days at USC when Joe had met people who began to reshape his image of himself. Surrounded with those of unwavering pride in who they were and were they came from, he began to delve deeper into what he had stubbornly tried to push down since childhood. Through the revision of his culture, it had been the food of his homeland that had become the strongest connection in practicing and celebrating himself and where his family came from. This had quickly sparked a deep love for cooking and sharing his food with those he cared for.
This love had only blossomed from there. Soon abandoning previous life goals, Joe had begun to squirrel away any spare coin he could muster in the hopes of saving up enough to establish his own café while continuing his college degree. Despite set back after set back, he had achieved what had once only be a dream, now twenty years passed.
Joe had caught wind of the vacant store front in the southern Californian town of Santo Padre after months on the search. With a price point under budget, the decision to purchase was a no brainer. As a result, the store had been riddled with faults, covered in mould and filth with loose wires and damaged walls, leaving weeks of repairs and restorations. Despite this, Joe’s optimism had yet to falter with years of determination to back him up. With preparations finally at a close, Joe’s dream was coming to fruition in front of his eyes.
Through the first weeks of opening, Joe was hard pressed to find a moment of peace. Between juggling the financial aspects of running a café as well as managing staff and taking place as head baker, he was struggling to find sleep each night before 1 am. As a result, it wasn’t a surprise that Joe had found himself lacking all concentration on the job, discovering himself chest to chest with a man instead of delivering a customer’s apple tart.
Despite his new residence, it hadn’t been difficult for Joe to notice of the loud rumbling that would shake the streets of Santo Padre. The local charter of Mayans weren’t shy in showing off their rides, flashing their vest around town in the sweltering heat of the sun. That being said, Joe had been adamant in avoiding any of the men at all costs. It didn’t take a genius to assume what those men thought about men like him. While it was an assumption of their views on queer people, those assumptions may end up saving his life and Joe wasn’t about to chance that on the principle of giving others the benefit of the doubt and not assuming on their behalf, especially when it came to dangerous men in a motorcycle club.
However, after one look at this man, Joe had almost thrown the sentiment out the window. Their matched height had entitled a clear view of his deep brown eyes with a sight of his strong nose and thick facial hair. The intricate lines detailing his face had almost been entrancing enough for Joseph to forget to be embarrassed by the seconds previous collision and his current response to the Mayan in front of him. With a quick flick at the corner of his mouth, the man had clearly taken note of Joe’s intimidated, flustered reaction.
He was in for it now.

I have a real life tale of Homeric Epic proportions for you all. I do not condone the actions of anyone in this story
My senior year of high school, I was entrenched in a preposterous scandal between two of my friends.
Guy 1 was this completely indescribable, sexually ambiguous, utterly ridiculous little xc/debate club twink who was an armed libertarian leftist, HYPERfixated on working class history, and VERY intelligent but so hyperactive and deliberately loud/obnoxious that all of our teachers hated him anyway. He called me “Rosita Bonita,” and was accepted to Princeton and CalTech but was going to a mid-tier school nearby because he didn’t want to leave the mountains. 🥺
Guy 2 was an extremely easygoing, widely-beloved football player with a FIANCÉ he’d been with for 3 years (religious people in small towns get engaged young) who was a devout environmentalist and was planning on going to trade school in Italy after graduation. No real reason, he just thought Italy was dope, which I respect.
Both good guys, both weird
We were all the same friend group (me, the dudes, the fiancé, & several other ppl), and those two were really close. Like if I was slightly more heterosexual I would say “bromance.” The summer before senior year, those guys, another friend of ours, and the fiancé went on an educational environmental science trip to Peru, where they, like, hiked around and camped out in the mountains. I don’t know or care what they were supposed to be learning about the environment up there, I just know that they split their little group of 4 up into a boys tent and girls tent, and these two boys who the Lord God put on this earth to play high school sports started fucking each other in tents in the rocky mountains of Peru.
Which would normally be like, okay, so what, Rose, why are you telling me these dudes’ business, but you have to remember that the second dude had a fiancé, a female fiancé no less, who was on the trip and was sleeping just a few yards away from where these boys were fucking each other. And this is where it morphed into everyone’s business
My friend, the only member of their little group who was not involved, called me from a hotel one night when they’d gone back down out of the mountains and into a town (and thus had cell service again), and she was like, “Rose, you need to help me.”
And I was like “What? What’s wrong?” Panicking, because my four dear friends were very far away in a weird mountain town and I had no idea what could possibly have happened
And she goes “I think that [guy 1] and [guy 2] are having sex, and I don’t know how to tell [fiancé].”
This is news to me, because I was previously SO sure that guy 2 was straight. I was like “I really think you’re losing it”
So we talked it out a little bit and decided that the high altitude was getting to her, and our friend wouldn’t cheat on his fiancé, who he really loved, and our other friend wouldn’t sow division in our close-knit group like that
School started back up however long after they got back, and things were just like. Completely normal for a while, and then after like a month of the whole thing being forgotten and under the bridge, guy 1 becomes overwhelmed with guilt and decides to tell the fiancé that he was in fact fucking her beloved in the Peruvian mountains.
Now, this was a MAJOR blow to the law, serenity, and order of our group, as im sure you know if you’ve ever been involved in a situation where a member of a friend group was cheating with another member of a friend group. All of my friends are very progressive, so it was much more about the cheating and lying than the fact that they were both men, but I would be wrong to say that that was not also a concern, because it came so completely out of nowhere. We were all blindsided (except for my friend, who I had accidentally gaslit into believing this wasn’t happening and she was going crazy from mountain air 🤪)
So. This is where it gets wild
Guy 2 takes the logical path out and decides to just lie and say that this never happened at all. Like, he straight up denies everything guy 1 is alleging.
I don’t know why he did that. You should never lie about something if the other person has screenshots, which guy 1 did. He had screenshots like you would not BELIEVE.
And he IMMEDIATELY took to the public Internet, which my mother uses, with these screenshots.
A lot of people had heard rumors about this by now, because these guys were both athletes and guy 2 was like “popular” or whatever, so it just kinda gets around. Guy 1 decided to feed the people and send the screenshots to the school gossip IG acct (“____ high school tea”), and of course, the person running the page was THRILLED to have such top-tier content so early in the school year, and it was all posted for their 1,188 followers to see.
The screenshots told a story that ran much deeper than two dudes fucking each other on a field trip. I had initially kind of assumed was just a “gay-for-the-stay,” messing around kind of thing, but there were screenshots of texts from guy 2 about getting MARRIED, telling guy 1 that he was his SOULMATE, telling him he “set my heart to flame,” “I love you more than anything,” etc etc., and, most notably, a picture of guy 2 in the act of SUCKING GUY 1’s DICK. Some of these things dated from WEEKS AFTER they got back from Peru.
So, it was clear to me that guy 1 AND the fiancé both felt (justifiably?) extremely fucked over by guy 2 at this point. The previously-airtight group was on the verge of collapse, as all of us had been dragged into this conflict between these 3 mfs. The girl called off the engagement.
Guy 2 wrote a notes app apology to the entire school claiming he had dissociative identity disorder and blaming the entire affair on his gay alter ego. Then he wrote a sad rap begging his fiancé to get back with him.
But the most insane part of all of this is that, since guy 1 AND guy 2 were both 17 when the explicit pic was posted on “[redacted]hstea,” the POLICE got involved. Guy 1 was investigated on CHILD PORNOGRAPHY charges for a picture of him getting his own dick sucked by a peer, as was guy 2, AS WAS the person running the tea account.
(This tea account had ruined lives, so when her identity was revealed, she literally transferred schools within like a week. Or maybe she’s in jail idk)
The charges were dropped and the boys were let off with a warning, because like. From a legal standpoint, who cares, but we All had to go to an internet safety assembly run by cops where they lectured us for two hours about not taking nudies, and EVERYONE was looking at me and my friends, because even though we had nothing to do with it, they KNEW we were affiliated with the defendents, and that was enough for them
Then guy 1 shot out the back window of guy 2’s car, which was the catharsis of the whole event, and it effectively blew over within another month or two.
Our group was split in half by loyalty (we joked and said guy 2 and his fiancé were like our divorcing parents), and I did not see those two in a room together for SEVERAL months, but then there was one weekend in like February that we all got together like old times (except for the fiancé who had moved on to a better man, as she should), and we were talking about going to a party with some of guy 2’s football friends, and guy 1 was like “I’m not gonna do that. You know what they say about me.”
And guy 2 tucked guy 1’s hair behind his ear and said with ZERO hesitation, “But you know I won’t let anything happen to you.”
This is a completely benign interaction, but imagine being me, witnessing this after 8 months of general social hell, child pornography charges, ruined friendships, Megan is missing assemblies, THE most dramatic breakup I’ve ever seen in my life and subsequent SoundCloud raps, shot out car windows, and a fake DID diagnosis, ALL because guy 2 wanted to avoid allegations of gay behavior. For WHAT.
Anyway coronavirus happened and idk what’s going on with them now and I don’t care but that’s my villain origin story

These are my last reads, took me some time but oh well. Enjoy
Give Me Truths 110k
Louis is a psychology student with a tattoo count as high as his genius IQ. Harry is in a (sort-of) relationship with a homophobic man and hates himself a little more every day. Things fall apart and Louis puts him back together.
Or, the one in which Louis falls in love with a fragile boy and tells him every beautiful truth in the world, as long as it makes him happy.
chances under the purple sunrise 28k
“You’ve been taking my shoes?” Louis asked, scoffing. “I paid a lot for them!”
“How unfortunate for you.” Harry smiled bitterly. He peeked over Louis, eyeing the hook that still had the worm.
The red box was open right next to him. Harry saw that inside, it had a couple of transparent containers that were filled with worms, too. He eyed Louis skeptically before nodding. “Right. I’ll give you your, er…. little boats back if you let me have the tub of worms.”
A groan crawled out from Louis, his head falling back and his eyes landing up at the clear sky. “I need those.”
“They’re food for myself and others, not to be used as bait.”
*
Or the one where Harry is a merman, prince of the Atlantic Ocean, whose curiosity and healthy envy takes over him and he steals Louis' shoes every time he fishes.
Absolutely amazing it’s so beautiful and cute I loooooved it
Oh Glory 21k
Tomlinson looks Liam over, tilting his head. “Are you a swimmer as well?”
“Yeah,” Liam says, a little cautiously. Harry wonders if it’s Tomlinson’s fame or the unimpressed eyebrow that’s making Liam wary. “Distance, I’m doing the 1500m. Harry here’s a sprinter.”
“Ah,” says Tomlinson, turning his glinting eyes back to Harry. “So you’re not an endurance man.” A beat passes, and his grin grows, wide and filthy. "Shame."
Harry Styles is Team Great Britain's newest swimmer, and has spent his whole life training for this moment, a chance at the gold medal in the Rio 2016 Olympics. All his training, hard work, and dedication to no distractions is tested when he's assigned to the same Rio apartment as Louis Tomlinson, British gymnast and Harry's childhood crush.
Torn On The Platform 27k
AU where harry and louis are strangers but they always get the same train to work in the morning and one day harry falls asleep on louis’ shoulder. louis wants to be annoyed because harry just broke a least seven rules of tube conduct but he looks so soft and peaceful that he just lets him sleep and wakes him ever so carefully when it’s his stop. it happens again and again until it becomes a regular thing where louis will let harry snooze and then gently nudge him awake, hand him the cup of coffee he took from him so it wouldn’t slip and spill everywhere and send him off with a “have fun at work, love” and after the tenth time harry isn’t even embarrassed anymore.
In a sky full of stars, be my Northern lights 13k
It's one of those nights there's nothing on the telly that Louis absently scrolls through Tinder. After swiping left on a bunch of profiles he comes face to face with a picture that stops him in his tracks. The picture is..almost sweet. It’s a boy with brown curly hair, wearing a very low cut yellow blouse, paired with a black jacket. He’s got a smile on his face and his tongue sticking out, but it’s not in any way lewd or suggestive. He just looks like he’s having a good time, and something about the innocence of it has him swiping right rather than left.
He’s barely checked the other pictures on the boy's profile before Tinder confirms that he’s got a match. The shots are so different from the pictures Louis is used to on Tinder - half naked boys who are smoldering at the camera - that he can’t help but smile.
It quickly turns into a frown when he opens up the message he’s just received.
Harry: Hello!
Harry: Thank you for swiping right
Harry: I have a proposition for you
baby we could be enough (I’ll make this feel like home) 52k
“Did you clean the table?” Harry asks Louis once Rose is done speaking, now occupied with trying to see if she can reach over and touch Harry’s hair from where she’s sat. At Louis’ nod, Harry frowns. “You didn’t have to do that. You’re my guests here, I could’ve dealt with it later.”
Louis just smiles easily, though, adjusting Rose on his lap so that she’s facing Harry better. She manages to tug on a loose wave of hair, and she makes a noise of triumph that both Louis and Harry smile at.
“I don’t mind,” Louis murmurs to Harry, even though he’s looking at Rose. “This one here seemed very excited to talk to you.”
And, okay. Harry can’t help but think of how domestic this feels, all of a sudden.
[harry is a photographer who's trying to find his place. louis is a single father with a smile that feels like home.]
That’s How I Know 19k
Louis Tomlinson has just landed his dream job, coaching soccer at Augustus University. When he moves into a new house near campus, he meets his very fit new neighbor, English professor Harry Styles. Although their first meeting leads to an instant mutual dislike, the more Harry gets to know Louis, the more he likes what he sees.
Or the one where Harry’s African grey parrot spills his dirty secrets to his very hot neighbor.
Never Too Late 18k
Harry’s confused for a moment before it hits him: the little boy is signing. Harry squats down to get to the boy’s level again and mirrors the same action.
“Dad?” He inquires. Harry learned basic sign language after having met a fan who was deaf. He made it his mission to learn signing so that he’d be able to communicate with other fellow hearing impaired fans.
The little boy smiles brightly, his tears now long gone. He goes on to extend both hands, palms up as if he’s asking where? Followed by the previous sign which means Dad. Harry smiles to himself at the amazing little guy standing in front of him.
He stands up taking the boy’s hand, “Let’s go find your dad,” he tells him making the motion with his hand.
Just having come out of the closet and recovering from vocal surgery, famous recording artist Harry Styles needs to get away from LA to work on new music needing to prove to his label that his career isn't over. Little does he know that his life is about to change forever when he runs into an old friend at the city he's decided to escape to.
Truth Be Told (I Never Was Yours) 76k
Harry watches Louis as he scrunches up his nose and bites the end of a pen in concentration. He’s been working on seating arrangements for the past hour and getting more frustrated by the minute. Louis huffs out a breath and glances down at Harry with a soft smile on his lips before he returns to the task at hand. It’s easy, right then, for Harry to let himself believe that they’re planning a seating chart for their own wedding and bickering over who is going to sit where from a list of their own family members. He can let himself daydream about a white picket fence and a dog that they could have within the next year.
It’s like a cold slap in the face when Harry looks to the top of the page to see “Aiden and Louis Grimshaw” at the head table, and Harry has to mentally remind himself for the thousandth time that Louis is not his. Never was, really. He’s just the wedding planner that’s been in love with Louis since he was sixteen.
(or the one where Louis and Harry have a complicated past, Louis is getting married to someone that’s not Harry, and the universe has decided to have a laugh and make Harry the wedding planner.)
Even Angels Have Their Demons 53k
Louis is appointed the role of Guardian Angel, and his first mission is a boy named Zayn Malik. Unfortunately, it seems that a certain Demon has gotten to him first.
Or... an Angel/Demon AU where Angel Louis hates Demon Harry, but somewhere along the way that stops being so true.
Three French Hems 20k
In which Louis is a designer at Burberry and Harry spends December wearing Lanvin… and Lanvin… and Lanvin.
In Dreams 23k
AU. When Harry moves to a new city, his new flat come with a number of sweet, anonymous gifts and surprises that brighten his days. Could it be a friendly ghost? Another friendly presence in his new building is his tattooed neighbor, Louis, who seems determined to put a smile back on his face.
Say It Somehow 129k
Louis Tomlinson may be one of the most respected actors on the West End, but he's terrible at knowing how to act around Harry Styles.
The story of two people who find each other at just the right time, featuring first dates, sleepovers, heartbreak, lots of sex, baked goods, overpriced bedsheets, and musical theatre references galore.
A Darker Shade of Love 750k
Louis is a 30 year old multi-billionaire with a very dark past. He is violent and is a sadist with a taste for pain.
Harry Styles is a 19 year old student who sets out to London after being kicked out by his homophobic father to follow his dreams. He wants to go to the best University to study but he needs a lot of money so he starts to work as a part time stripper at a gay club to support his studies and his life.
The club he works at, Garland's, is part owned by Louis Tomlinson. When they meet, its life changing for the both of them.
Ok so this one has very sensitive content. It’s very well written but if you can understand this is all fiction then you’re good. Be careful reading it if you think you might get triggered
A Sea Without Water, A Compass Without Direction 84k
”Tell me, Louis,” Captain Styles said, leaning forward a little. ”D’you think I’m an idiot?”
”I—what?” Louis asked, surprised by the blunt question. He had expected something different, something along the lines of how he learned music, or how he ended up as a prisoner on the other ship.
”Do you think I’m an idiot?” The captain repeated, putting emphasis on each word as though Louis couldn’t understand him otherwise.
”Of course not,” Louis said, shaking his head. He’d be a fool for thinking such a thing, and an even bigger fool for saying it out loud. ”Captain.”
Captain Styles nodded slowly, leaning back in his chair and folding his hands in his lap. ”Then why did you lie to me?”
”L-Lie?”
”Out on the deck. You lied to me,” he said. He held up his hand, three fingers up.
”Three lies total. I hate liars.”
Waiting for the tides to meet 59k
Louis lets out a deep breath, thinking about Harry’s soulmate. Thinking about how Harry’s soulmate is probably as beautiful as Harry, some person that Louis cannot compare to, and how the universe has chosen them to be Harry’s. Fuck the universe. “Fuck you,” he calls out to the universe. He’s aware of how crazy he sounds.
Maybe he is crazy, with how he’s falling for Harry. And fuck that, too.
Soulmate AU. Everyone is born with heterochromia — one eye is their own eye colour, while the other is the colour of their soulmate's. It's only when they meet their soulmate for the first time that their own eyes match properly. After a hazy night at a frat party, Louis wakes up to blue eyes and the shocking realization that he had met his soulmate, without any sober recollection. Seven years pass where Louis comes to terms with the fact that he'll never know who his soulmate is. Then one fated summer, a beautiful green-eyed photographer arrives at Louis' workplace, with promises of endless laughter and a familiar feeling in Louis' heart.
Featuring a lovely cup of OT5, a road trip down the coast, and a scene where Harry eats a whole head of lettuce. Don't ask why.

>> min yoongi x park jimin <<
All the seasons of your love - 5k+ [college au]
The movement in the library was still slow in the first week, so Yoongi could easily remember the few people who came by. That's why he pays so much attention to a certain dark-haired freshman who walks in on a Wednesday afternoon - or at least that's what he tells himself. He goes over to the front counter and asks Yoongi for directions to the Economy 101 session and, God, his voice is as sweet as his eye-smile.
Or how librarian Yoongi fell head over heels for cute freshman Park Jimin who, unfortunately, was very much straight - or so Yoongi thought.
Bon Voyage - 47.9+ [tourist! au]
Yoongi was meant to be taking the trip of a lifetime with his boyfriend. But now he's in Paris, alone and miserable. That is until he collides - quite literally - with one Park Jimin.
Boys who talk shit - 26k+ [college au]
When Yoongi enrolled in BTS (aka Boys who Talk Shit) Boarding School, he wasn't really expecting to be the only 'straight' (to be read sarcastically) guy in a room of seven geniuses (aka children aged five to ten, honestly). Plus four pet spiders. Yes, plural.
Chaotic episodes in A Place of Love and War, where Yoongi learns all about True Love via Park Jimin, Music and Marriage. Sort of. Brain bleach and earplugs are strongly recommended.
Conflicting arrangement - 162k+ [fake boyfriend au]
"Absolutely not," Yoongi deadpanned. "Namjoon-ah. I value you as a friend, and I think I'd even go as far as to say that you're my best friend, but absolutely fucking not."
"You owe me," Namjoon pleaded. "Come on, Yoongi, it's not a big deal."
"Your boyfriend's best friend's best friend needs a fake boyfriend to come out to his family this Chuseok, all the way in fucking Busan," Yoongi repeated drily without pause, making Namjoon wince. He flipped a page of his textbook, picking up his highlighter. "Not a big deal, Namjoon. Amazing."
Cotton Candy - 240k [high school rock band]
"He could get used to sitting next to Yoongi like this. To have him around. To have the band around. To smile and feel happy. To see Yoongi sitting in front of an instrument and having him play just for him.
'If this was my happy ending,' Jimin thinks, resisting the urge to lean his head on Yoongi's shoulder, 'if I wasn't who I am, I'd just let you have me whenever you want. You could have me anytime.'"
As spring turns into summer, school band Cotton Candy unexpectedly loses its singer and the members are forced to look for a new vocalist. Six boys find one in the form of the promiscuous pink-haired boy Park Jimin who makes a home in their hearts and finally finds a place he belongs
Daegu drift - 53k+ [motorcyclist / playboy au]
Jimin stops in Daegu for a big motor show and gets caught up with the locals. Specifically one Min Yoongi.
Sneak Peek:
Yoongi has his arms folded as he stares Jimin down.
“Are you going to join the rally, or not?”
Jimin takes his time answering because he likes the way Yoongi is looking at him. “Sure. I guess it could be fun. But you do realize none of you have a chance against a Bugatti, right?”
“It’s not the car that wins the race,” the other man says. “It’s the driver. You could have the fastest, best-equipped car in the goddamn universe, but if you’re a shit driver, it doesn’t make a difference.”
Goodbye from lonely - 65k+ [uncle yoongi!]
Park Jimin works two jobs that he loves and is going to college to get his teaching degree.
Min Yoongi is a personal assistant who hates his job and spits in his boss' coffee every day.
Kim Taehyung has been infatuated with his clueless co-worker for the better part of a year.
Jeon Jeongguk has a three-year-old daughter that he'd do anything for.
Somehow the tiny human brings them all together.
Or
Tae is in love with Kookie -> Kookie's daughter takes Jimin's ballet class -> Yoongi is Kookie's stepbrother -> Jimin and Yoongi meet because of Kookie's daughter.
In your eyes (it’s where I wanna be) - 5.5k [coffee shop! au]
Jimin pauses with his marker inches away from the cup, because — is he really going to do this? Isn’t it a bit old-fashioned to write something flirty on a coffee cup? But no matter what his churning gut says about the danger and what the hell are you doing do you want to die, this guy is — with no better way to put it — totally Jimin’s Type with a capital T.
(Or: Jimin accidentally starts a nickname war with the cute blonde who likes his coffee way too bitter.)
Inked flowers - 6.4k [tattoo artist / florist au]
Something stopped him. A sound of a piano. He looked around and saw a light coming from the window on the other side of the street. On the third floor was an open window. A light and the sorrowful sound of a piano flew out of the room. Jimin looked closer and saw a figure or at least a top of someone's head.
The melody was so sad and sorrowful that Jimin wanted to cry. He started thinking, what could possibly go inside that person’s head? What were they thinking? Jimin just hoped that they weren’t sad and alone.
(let me see you) get high then low - 4k+ [photographer/model au]
"The light-haired model is the kind that fascinates Yoongi, and at the same time, he prefers to steer away from. He's all smiles and flowers, drawing you in with his cuteness until he's not anymore. Suddenly, he’s something else entirely; he's that false calm, the ocean that looks smooth on the surface but will drag you down to its depths if you dare to touch it."
or
Min Yoongi works in a photography studio with some (very questionable) friends that can't get any work properly done without making a bit of a fuss.
Park Jimin is a model handcuffed against his will and bored. Also a little bit horny, maybe.
Math Tutor - 11.7k [bad boy! yoongi]
Min Yoongi is the school's resident Bad Boy™. He's covered in tattoos, is pierced, curses like a sailor, smokes like crazy, doesn't give a shit about anything, possesses a hot temper that has people steering clear of him, and is desperately in love with Park Jimin, the adorable math nerd. When Jimin is tasked with tutoring Yoongi in math, who is in danger of failing the class and being held back a year, both boys are hesitant. Yoongi because he can't think straight around the boy with startling red hair, and Jimin because Yoongi is scary as hell and looks like he can easily kill someone. Gradually, though, the two grow closer, and Jimin finds that Yoongi is nothing like how he'd imagined.
Maybe I hate you can be our always - 35.9k [enemies to lovers]
When Yoongi thinks about it, really gives it genuine thought, it's possible that Park Jimin isn't the worst person in the world.
//
(Or, Yoongi and Jimin get off on the wrong foot.)
Ode to yoonmin - 4k+ [texting]
yoongi and jimin are in very much in love but they're the only ones who don't know it
OR
chat fic with a bunch of bad jokes and memes ¯\_(ツ)_/
Out of my system - 101.6k+ [one night stand]
Yoongi likes one night stands and he understands how they work. What he doesn’t understand, however, is how he ended up in bed with a probably-not-legal kid crying in his arms about his broken heart, because he’s pretty sure (and correct him if he’s wrong) that a babysitting job was not what he was looking for when he went to the opening of his friend’s new club
Standing on the brink of 376 - 42.9k+ [street racing]
When Taehyung woke him up at three AM to go to a street race—an illegal one, no less—claiming it would help his social anxiety, Jimin never actually expected it to do much for him, except maybe make him cry hysterically. He found that he really wasn't too far off-kilter with that assumption, but it was only after he'd suffered through countless bouts of insecurity that he realized, hidden behind each stuttered breath, every inevitable tear, every spark of unavoidable fear, and even the customary cloud of cigarette smoke itself, lay a tremendous amount of affection for a certain platinum haired street racer that he can't even begin to justify. But when his opinion of fact, fate, and even life itself continues to blur with each push of the gas pedal, he thinks he just might be able to forgive himself for falling in love with a criminal, when the nonsensical moonshine of the present mutes the anxiety that had been a constant within his heart up until this November.
Strawberry lube - 82.7k+ [college au]
Yoongi remembers little to nothing of their crazy drunken night out. But of two things he's absolutely sure, one: he's not gay, two: he just slept with Park Jimin
The Paradiso Lounge - 192k+ [photographer/stripper au]
“Do I have to pay you for that service?”
This isn’t a dream (let me love you) - 26k+ [highschool au]
As captain of his high school’s basketball team, Min Yoongi dedicated all of his attention to his team and their games. His focus on the game never waned, not once for anything or anyone.
Well, until head cheerleader Park Jimin flashed his abs during a solo cheer and made him fuck up his shot
Trying to Behave (but you know we never learned how) - 329k+ [non-idol! au]
It's been years since Yoongi's last seen him and the younger boy is a shell of his former self in a way that makes his heart twist in his chest. And yet, after all this time and countless days of convincing himself to let him go, he's still unconditionally, head over heels in love with Park Jimin.
(Jimin and Yoongi grow up together.)
Valentino Summers - 657k+ [‘80s gangsters]
Whether or not Jimin was smuggling drugs really didn’t matter. He was hustling, and these days that was all there was to it.
Hustle and survive or struggle and die.
Y/N masterlist  << check it out !! xoxo

Or at least a much-needed distraction while he searches for a job and crashes at his parents’ new house. 16 - Runaway Land | daggerinrose | 103,610 words
Louis is sure he’s stumbled upon a secret, underground nightclub, though that is far from the truth. He’s also pretty sure he’s stumbled upon Apollo, which… isn’t very far from the truth, actually.

They fall back into their easy friendship, until life intervenes and sends them on their separate ways once more.
23 - Own the Scars | crinkle-eyed-boo | 144,706 words
After an “accident”, Louis is forced into rehab. His best friend, Harry, never saw it coming and he feels awful because of that. Staying by his side through it all, tough love leads to another kind of love.
24 - And Then a Bit | infinitelymint | 158,824 words
In a world were Larry was never real, and they were just very close best friends, Harry and Louis agree to the “mother of all publicity stunts”. They’re finally giving the fans what they want after seven years since One Direction was formed and a two year hiatus.

I wish I could just fade away from existence. Just stop being. Life, I feel, is too hard at the moment. My church community hates me because Im trans and bi. My queer community can often be racist. My cultural/ethnic community often hate me because I’m queer (Im indigenous to my country and Italian). All these communities can be incredibly anti fat and anti disability of which I am both. It feels like no mater where I go people hate me just for being me. (1/2)
And then when I die I go to hell according to my bishop. I came out to my stake president because my dad told me to. He told me that I’ll most likely have to face disciplinary actions because the church doesn’t allow trans people (even though I haven’t done anything medically). I don’t understand why God made me like this if I’m so wrong? I’ve tried to change for years and I can’t, and now I can’t even be a member of my various communities. I just want to disappear into nothingness. (2/2)
—————————————————————
I hear you. I recognize the pain you’re feeling.
My initial reaction to reading this is “what a strong person.”
Other people have been beating you up. Your own thoughts have been against you to the point you don’t see good in yourself. Youcontacted me to say you don’t have any hope.
This is the opposite of giving up, this is saying that “staying alive is really hard, please give me something to help me fight, some hope I can use to stay alive.”
That’s strength and endurance!
—————————————————————
As your friend, I’m recommending you find a way to meet with a mental health expert.
Wishing you were dead is a form of suicide ideation. Therapy can help you with this. They can also diagnose if you’re depressed. Counseling can help with internalized transphobia/biphobia, with negative feelings & thoughts associated withyour disability.
—————————————————————
I want to address each of the statements you made because I want to counter the negative messages in them.
“My church community hates me because I’m trans and bi.”
There may be some at church who feel that way. I think the truth is your church community doesn’t know what to make of you. You don’t fit in their doctrine. Their doctrine needs to expand.
Another part of their doctrine is love. Their response should be to love you, even if they don’t understand.
—————————————————————
“My queer community can often be racist.”
This is true. And people like to dismiss that criticism by saying it’s just their preference.
I’m not sure where you live, but many countries have racism embedded in their culture, and then it seeps over into the queer community as well.
As much as queer people know what it’s like to be dismissed and rejected over something they didn’t choose, you’d think we’d be better at identifying with andembracing other groups who face discrimination rather than perpetuate it.
—————————————————————
“My cultural/ethnic community often hate me because I’m queer.”
Cultures like to tell stories about themselves and see themselvesportrayed in a particular way. People like to see themselves and theirancestors as heroic or noble.
Since straight people are the majority, it’stheir stories that get told. If they’re a minority group embedded in a larger culture, they cling to their myths all the more tightly.
I’ve been to Italy, there are gay clubs, even in little Verona where I stayed for a week. Cultures adapt and change and ex-pat communities often are frozen in how things were.
There is also a history of queer people among indigenous peoples but their stories are not the ones you hear.
If your cultural and ethnic communities hate you because you’re queer, either they don’t know their own history. or it’s time for them to be better and for their community to progress.
—————————————————————
“All these communities can be incredibly anti fat and anti disability.”
Agreed. That is true of the general society and it permeates down into the sub-cultures.
—————————————————————
“It feels like no matter where I go people hate me just for being me.”
I’m so sorry that this is your experience. One thing I can say is that as you get older and have more control over your decisions and life, you also get more control over who you associate with.
Queer people often have to build their own families and support networks because we don’t find what weneed in the communities that we’re a part of.
—————————————————————
“when I die I go to hell according to my bishop”
I don’t believe that. You shouldn’t either.
Your bishopis way off base. Even the notorious Elder Oaks says there’s a kingdom of glory waiting for you.
—————————————————————
“I’ll most likely face disciplinary actions because the church doesn’t allow trans people.”
I disagree.
I have access to the church handbooks for leaders. The only thing punishable about being trans is “elective transsexual surgery.” That’s it! Everything else is within bounds.
Your bishop or stake president may not like if you start wearing clothes that match thegender you identify with or ask people to call you by a new name or use the restroom that corresponds with your gender, but those are not actions that bring discipline.
—————————————————————
“I don’t understand why God made me like this if I’m so wrong?”
You think God sees you as wrong? I don’t.
You can get an assurance that God loves you quite separate from anything a bishop or anyone else in church may say. We like to say that we’re children of Heavenly Parents. Think of that. Do parents love their children? Even if they’re overweight? Even if they have a disability? Even if this or that? YES!
Why did God make you this way? I don’t know.
But I think of the story in John 9:2 when the disciples ask, “Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?”
In verse 3 “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.”
Jesus came to be a light to the world and this blind man was there to demonstrate it. We in the church, in the queer community, in society, have a lot to learn from your experience. You help us to see the light.
—————————————————————
I’m going to share something very personal with you. Last October I felt Igot a message from God. I want to share part of it with you.
“I sent you, and you agreed, to find my children who aretender and hurting. You are who I send to them. You are who affirms them and helps them with their hurting. Experiencing pain, rejection and disappointments prepared you for this. The need is so great and you have so much love to give.”
My pain, my sorrows, my years in the closet struggling to accept myself, that’s what prepared me to help others. My experience helped shape me to be kind, empathetic, gentle, affirming, and able to see when others arehurting.
I imagine like the blind man in the New Testament, you are going to be a tool to help others. Just by being you, others are forced to recognize their prejudices. They have to make a choice about how to treat you. You help them to be better people.
—————————————————————
I know it’s hard. I know it’s unfair. I know people want you to fit into a mold that doesn’t work for you. Trying to meet expectations of others in an attempt to fit in is a lot of work.
As you figure out what works for you, you have to draw boundaries. You have to choose to disassociate with certain people or communities. You have to look after yourself, and that includes cutting the toxic out of your life. You may not be able to do all of it now. Bit by bit your life will improve.
Charting your own path is work, but will be so rewarding.
You know why people value 4-leaf clovers? Because they’re rarer and different from the more common 3-leaf clover. You are a rare combination of traits. Just because some people can’t see the treasure you are, don’t give up on yourself.
In the movies, people who are different often aren’t treated well in the beginning of the film, but usually at the end they’re the ones who come and save the day. Maybe you’re a superhero in development!

Welcome to the Order of the Phoenix, Sara!
You have been accepted for the role of non-biography character, CONFIDENCE “CONNOR” BROWN! This application was an absolute delight to read! I loved how developed you’ve made Connor and I feel like he’ll have a lot of really fun things to bring to the table. I am really excited to have an Order member who is sort of is he part of us, but yeah he’s really part of us. I am so excited to have you as part of this roleplay!
Please take a look at the new member checklist and send in your account within 24 hours! Thank you for joining the fight against Voldemort!
OUT OF CHARACTER:
NAME: Sara
AGE: fourscore and seven years ago…
TIMEZONE: est
ACTIVITY LEVEL: I’m around every day and will try to post most days
ANYTHING ELSE: Nothing in particular, I can take care of my own squicks.
CHARACTER DETAILS:
NAME: Confidence Brown (he goes by Connor)
AGE: 26
GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY: Connor is certain he’s heard of this thing called gender, he even plays her every so often but… owning it? Having one? Oh, sorry, no. He hasn’t owned one since he was in fifth year and he realized he really didn’t have to. That did not go over well with his parents who had joined, and remain, part of a severe religious community. The whole witch thing also didn’t go over well but they made peace until makeup started coming out. Sexuality is much the same. Connor uses he/him pronouns and relishes the comparative freedom of the magical community verses the muggle in this regard.
BLOOD STATUS: Muggleborn
HOUSE ALUMNI: Slytherin–what’s that? All Slytherin’s are blood purist arseholes? Connor might not have had the easiest path at Hogwarts or elsewhere but that’s not to say he didn’t make friends (or gather the right blackmail to smooth the way) and insinuating that everyone is evil from his house would earn a laugh or a hex and maybe both.
ANY CHANGES:
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:
There are two certain things about Connor Brown: he’s going to survive and he’s going to be fabulous while doing it.
Sure his mother named him Confidence well before he showed any of that but he certainly grew into the name. How could he not with the looks kids gave him on the playground? And then when he first tumbled off the Hogwarts Express and into Slytherin. That’s not to say Connor deserves pity–oh no. He’s taken everything he’s gotten and cheerfully made it into something he can not only enjoy but thrive in.
Slytherin became a (sometimes dangerous) playground of learning who to befriend and who to blackmail (and Connor, true to the house he had been sent to, was always good at that). When he was asked to leave his parent’s house, he found another–a better one.
His ego led him to believe that he would have to gift the wizarding world with Camp but one accidental step down the wrong alley and into Ganymede Gentleman’s Club (it can’t be that, can it?) showed him that the wizarding world has known what Camp is for generations.
The problem is much of Connor is bravado and showmanship. Sure he is quite talented in disguising spells, and he’s always had a deft hand at arranging muggle or magical transportation! But every dance has to come to an end some time or else a guy or gal will twist their ankle and make it end. Connor has learned never to lean too hard on anyone and that self-protection has carried him well, but it’s a two-sided blade that can easily lead to a sloppy mistake that could get him or someone in his care killed. That’s not even to speak of his pridefulness and penchant for eavesdropping… and possibly lacing a drink or two.
For recon purposes, of course, and only for the Order.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY:
His parents Mary and Jon Brown disowned him after catching him coming home from a party all dressed up at eighteen. Parties were bad enough, what he was dressed in was worse. He moved out that night.
Be-Joyful Brown: sister. it took a while but now they are back in contact and even meet up occasionally…   in public. She is two years younger than him.
Lavender Brown: Joy’s young daughter. Connor calls her the Lavender Menace… Joy doesn’t understand given that Lavender is an infant and can’t menace anything.
OCCUPATION:
Connor happened upon the Ganymede Gentleman’s Club shortly after being jumped by muggles outside of a muggle gay club. He crashed there for three nights before the owner took pity on him and gave him a job and a closet of a flat at the top of the town-home-turned revelry and tryst site.
Jobs Connor has had at the oldest Gentleman’s Club near Diagon Alley:
Waiter—more flirt then helpful
Doorman— less bouncer, more greeter looking for codewords
Bartender—more eye candy then proficiency
Entertainment—a continuous portion of Connor’s club life, although he has moved on from it for a full time gig
Host—a sort of lower level manager who tries to de-escalate while being a flirt
Manager of the House—arguably the highest job without owning the establishment
It’s important to note that this Magical Molly Club has functioned not just as a place for gentlemen (and women) of a certain disposition to meet, put on ridiculous shows, dance and play cards–but for married pureblooded people to meet up with their lovers. There's history here–but all of it laced with someone going shhh! And that is just the type of environment Connor needs when someone sends him a message asking for him to get some poor wix out of trouble in London and out to the McKinnon farm.
The actual space is just off Diagon Alley and is more a charmed and modified townhome than anything. The important thing is that it doesn’t look like anything and there’s even a keyword to get in. Inside there is a bar, a very small stage, and a lot of small tables that can be removed to create a dance floor. There are then a maze of rooms–because what better way to keep out unwanted guests and raids then magic helping scramble who might be where?
ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:
It’s all fun and games until people start dying. Connor comes from a very religious family and was a muggleborn in Slytherin: he knows what like to be hated on sight for something he can’t control. He also knows what he has in him to provide (housing, transportation, gossip) and he knows what he can’t (good support in a complicated duel or medical). Also, at the very end of it: Connor wants to help but he does not want to die. That doesn’t mean he’ll squeal, but it does mean he likely has a ticket for himself squared away if there should ever be a need. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst—and that’s his feelings about the Order in a nutshell. Connor has not survived this long by pinning his cloak to fantasy.
More clearly: Connor is a low-level member of the Order. He has no interest in climbing the ladder, little interest in skirmishes. He attends a bare minimum of meetings and functions as a sort of middle-stop for those who need to escape to the McKinnon farm. He puts people up in one of the ‘for rent’ rooms at the club and then finds the best way to move them…and sometimes that’s with him and an airplane ticket. He’s not the most well known and he’s happy with that, too, because it means he might get out if everything goes tits up.
SURVIVAL:
Is Connor part of the Order? He hadn’t heard of that. Truthfully, Connon makes very certain not to carry any identification on him that would imply, however indirectly, that he was part of the Order of the Phoenix. The most he might do is flirt with one who came into Ganymede Gentleman’s Club –but he flirts with everyone, really, so is that such a surprise? It might be more of a surprise if he flirted with Rodolphus Lestrange—and he’s not going to confirm or deny that. It goes so far that he’s not above disguising himself before going to Marlene’s for a meeting. Sure Marlene knows who he is, and Caradoc–any older Order Member, really, but why advertise? Besides, he likes dressing up. He doesn’t hide to those he hides in the club on the way to the McKinnon’s, however, because he figures they’re already scared enough and trusting someone with a fake face on would be a little too much.
RELATIONSHIPS: variable depending on the characters in-game. I do have some ideas but I would need to talk to some players to confirm since a few are likely to be apped!
Caradoc —They met when Connor was a first year and in tears over something he is certain was utterly stupid. Truthfully Connor does not remember what it was and doesn’t really care. He does care about Caradoc, however, and the ways he’s changed from Hogwarts to now. He sometimes gets on Caradoc’s case about his missing smile and the way he responds to some jokes nowadays but there’s a clear limit on what he can say—after all, Connor has changed, too.
Younger Order Members—Connor both delights and hopes to avoid many of the younger order members. He’s a need-to-know sort of bloke and most of them, well, he’s not sure they do. Then again, there’s always a sort of delight in seeing the gears turn in someone’s face as they try to place him, place the Club, or any other number of things… and, okay, he wouldn’t mind seeing some of the dramatics he’s heard about the younger members doing… so long as it all turns out okay in the end.
Connor as a first year at Hogwarts was rather sensitive—that swiftly changed into the sometimes garish, often entertaining, presentation he still manages today. The problem is he’s grown less and less able to take it off or put it to the side as the daily prophet brings darker news. He’s still a good friend but friends have to learn not to guard so much and that, along with the general air of suspicion that permeates the entire community, have likely begun to curdle all but the strongest of bonds.
OOC EXPLORATION:
SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS: Connor/Chemistry Connor/Ooops and Connor/One Night Stand Oh God No
WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?
Connor would Iike to say his varied layers of what the hell bad times have predisposed him to being accepting of all…but the truth of the matter is Werewolves scare him. It’s not disgust. Its fear bred from, of all things, bad muggle horror movies. He was only six or seven, he snuck out of the movie he was supposed to see to see Curse of the Werewolf or something similar. So while he would swallow it and let someone in need in (what would he have done if someone hadn’t done the same to him?), there’s an honest fear response that comes from childhood. He’s also afraid of dogs, though, so he’d probably blame a whole canine sort of thing for his unease.
Connor is also a bit biased against Purebloods. Sure his friends are alright… but all that sneaking around because you’re married? It’s probably something bred from having a ultimately failed or doomed relationship with such a person but he has more then enough history to look at most Purebloods and go fuck you. This is also why he has such a cashe of secrets just-in-case.
Privilege wise: Connor has had the privilege to find safe places to land and make use of every not-so-great situation he’s found himself in. He has a solid job, he’s been able to make himself invaluable (although it’s unlikely the Pureblood who owns the Gentleman’s club would ever think about letting him own the space), and he is stable enough to help others. Thats pretty remarkable overall for a queer muggleborn born to working class parents.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? I love a good AU, I love a game where you can create a little something more… and when the characters I considered got apps I tried to think: what could be useful here. I hope to muck around and make trouble for multiple characters…and introduce a little queer history into the backdrop.
PLOT DROP IDEAS (OPTIONAL): I don’t have any specific ideas right now but I imagine Ganymede Gentleman’s Club will be quite useful.
ANYTHING ELSE? N/A
EXTRA FOR NON-BIO CHARACTERS:
This section is only if you are applying for a character that does not yet have a biography written (i.e. a character not listed on the character page). Essentially, any Marauders Era character can be applied for, so long as they can realistically fit into the plot and add substance to the roleplay! It may be a good idea to send a message to the main before you do this so we are all on the same page.
PAST: Connor’s parents joined a small offshoot of the Evangelical Alliance movement in the UK. Or, maybe, they were part of that community first and later it latched itself onto the Evangelical Alliance. Truthfully, Connor doesn’t remember which came first and it hardly seems important now. The important thing was, that it meant his childhood involved daily prayer, every-other-day church service, and the few children around all had names like Be-Faithful, Be-Joyful, and He-Provides. Confidence, by comparison, was a very reasonable name, although even before a witch showed up on their tiny flat’s doorstep his parents wished they had named him Humility instead. How he did not get stoned to death for being a wizard he will never know. He did start to suspect his parents had been bewitched when they couldn’t seem to look at his textbooks but not in a way that represented any sort of discomfort or pain. The second part of his childhood came with more than he could have ever imagined. The food was richer (and more plentiful, given that his mother worked only part-time in a shop and his dad worked as an assistant minister), the clothing more dramatic and in so many colors, and the magic. Slytherin was not the easiest house for a muggleborn but Connor rarely protested because there was always, always more and it was learn fast how to swim or drown.
PRESENT: It took a while. It took being sent from his parents’ home and not seeing his sister for a good three years—but Connor believes he has finally found his soft landing. Ganymede Gentleman’s Club is even more decadent than Hogwarts—and he gets to live there, and perform there, and talk to anyone who comes in the door (even if they don’t want to)! To make things better, Connor is able to get his well-powdered nose in the thick of gossip…and use his theatrics to help out others who might find their lives taking on too much water. He might not be able to do so indefinitely, the club only has a finite number of rooms ( he’s not a McKinnon!), but he can do something and he takes great pleasure in that. If that pleasure is partially in sticking his nose up at Pureblood politics, well…he’s allowed to have his heart in the right place and his unabashed glee right next to it.
FC CHOICES: Ezra Miller …and second option Keiynan Lonsdale

in character info
Full name: Bradley David Christian
Birthday: December 25th
Sexuality, gender, pronouns: closeted homosexual, male, he/him
Age and grade: 18, senior
Appearance: Temporary face claim is Valter Torsleff. Bradley is a very nervous person and it shows in his nubby fingernails, in the way that his shirts are wrinkled from clutching at them, the dark circles under his eyes and the way they dart around. He’s tall but it’s difficult to tell from the way he hunches over in some attempt to try and hide himself. At his full height Bradley is six foot even. His body is pathetically scrawny making him look like you could easily snap him in two. Seriously, get this kid a fucking sandwich or something.
Bradley has pasty skin, blue-grey eyes and short curly golden blond hair that’s shaved at the sides. He’s always clean shaven and has a gaunt, oval shaped face with a pointy chin. He speaks quickly and mumbles frequently.
His clothing is well put together- mostly because his parents still choose his wardrobe for him. Button down shirts. Nice slacks and shoes. Business casual is the best way to describe his wardrobe. He has a few casual looking articles of clothing(t-shirts that are either plain or have some stupid cheesy christian slogan or a scripture on it, maybe cargo shorts or sweatpants) but he’s very seldom seen wearing these. Usually they’re reserved for when he’s lounging at home or if it’s a required part of a uniform.
Personality: Christianity is Bradley’s whole world. It’s what he sleeps, eats, drinks and breaths. He wants nothing more than for the holy spirit to get inside him( ;) ). He spends hours and hours pouring over the bible, devotionals and other forms of christian media to keep himself in check. Deep down however he’s disgusted by all this and loathes it all but his irrational fear of god and his parents keeps him going.
He’s an extraordinarily anxious and timid person with twitchy hands and is consistently easy to startle. He’s a closeted homosexual, having gone through conversion therapy and been considered cured. Bradley knows he’s gay and he hates this part of himself. He’s full of internalized homophobia. He’ll do whatever he has to in order to try and ‘fix’ this part of himself. So far nothing has worked.
Because of his heavy involvement with the church Bradley is repressed in the sense that he doesn’t know who he is or what he likes that isn’t involved with the church. Any hobbies he has, any personality traits, has to be somehow linked to christianity. It makes him a boring person since he has nothing else to talk about but God. He doesn’t know what else to talk about because he’s never been allowed to think about anything else. Because of this, most people brush him off and he’s used to that. However he has a hard time being as adamant to people about converting them then other people in his church, he’s more timid and is worried about upsetting other people.
History: Having grown up in a heavily conservative, christian home, Bradley David Christian has known nothing but religion his whole life. Within a week of his birth, he had gone to church for the first time and continued to go for the entirety of his life. His parents were completely and totally enthralled with christianity and wanted nothing more than for Bradley to be every bit as religious as them.
His relationship with his parents is… less than ideal to be putting it lightly. They’re controlling and invasive. They put everything under a microscope and leave him with little to no privacy. They choose his wardrobe, choose if he’s allowed to continue being friends with someone or not, go through his phone and social media accounts and so on and so forth. Bradley knows this isn’t normal but there isn’t really anything he can do about it seeing as he still lives with him and is too young to be on his own. So he just tries to appease them and keep them as happy as possible, working to be their wet dream of a child.
The church he went to was very conservative and pushed the ‘Fear the Lord’ mentality leading him to being constantly anxious about having any sort of sin weighing on his soul. The idea of hell is terrifying, and he would do anything to avoid being sent there. Convinced that the rapture could occur at any given moment he worked to have his soul constantly free of sin. His parents had successfully indoctrinated their son into their religion.
As Bradley grew older, he started to notice that he was developing an attraction to the same sex and that terrified him. He prayed to God to fix him and when that didn’t work, tried to hide it. But eventually his parents found out and sent him to Camp New Grace.
The camp didn’t change Bradley(There was a brief period of time where a certain boy with a cute smile and bubbly laugh that made him think maybe it was okay to be gay but that hope was quickly squashed). In fact it probably left him in a worse state than when he first entered. But he could certainly convince himself that it did. Thinking he was cured, he was sent home only to discover, much to his chagrin, that he was still plagued by these demons. But the very last thing that Bradley wanted was to be sent back to that place so from that day forwards he did everything in his power to hide and repress that part of himself. After all, Camp New Grace did always say that being straight, being NORMAL, was a choice. So he could just…. choose to be hetero. He would be his own accountabillibuddy and keep himself in check.
Bradley became an extremely active member of the church, had brief relationships with girls that always ended with frustration and tears, ran the christianity clubs at his school, maintained perfect grades and above all tried to keep his life as free from sin as possible. But deep down he still felt that gnawing guilt in his heart knowing that he really was. The reminder clung at the back of his mind like a tumor. Whispering to him that no matter what he did, he would never be rid of it. It kept him up at night, made his heart pound in his chest when the church talked about the sin that was homosexuality, made him sweat when he tried to deny just how much a boy’s laugh could make his stomach flip or a smile could make his face heat up. But if he could keep himself pure, maybe- just maybe God could overlook that and he wouldn’t be sent to burn in the fiery pits of hell.
A kid could hope.
Sample paragraph: A success story. That’s what they called him. A shining example of how homosexuality was a choice, that Bradley had been able to overcome his sinful urges and become a pure, gleaming light for the Lord Almighty.
The thought burned like acid in his throat, ate at his stomach, twisted his guts into painful knots. He was a liar and he knew it. He knew he was sinning every time his heart flipped when a handsome boy would call his name. Sinning when only thoughts of masculine voices could stir a fire in the pit of his stomach. Sinning every night when all he had was his own thoughts and fantasies.
It was ripping him apart, all the lies, the lust, the desires- he was an abomination wearing the skin of a holy man. Did that make him worse than the average sinner? He prayed, day and night, for forgiveness from a God he both feared and worshiped.
“Bradley, why don’t you share with the congregation how you were you able to overcome these desires?” the pastor asked, a smug gleam in his eye. Wasn’t pride a sin?
“W-well-” His hand twitched as Bradley had to remind himself to not lift his hand and chew at it. Instead he settled for rubbing the back of his neck, fingers catching on locks on the back of his head and anxiously tugging. Scriptures- scriptures- “As Matthew 26:41 says, ‘Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’. So uh, I prayed. A lot. And the power of prayer… helped me overcome my temptations?"
The priest smiled like Bradley had gotten a correct answer on a test. His anxiety lessened for only a brief moment. The fear, the anxiety was always at the back of his mind. His hand pulled away from his hair to clutch tightly at his chair. This was humiliating. He didn’t want a soul to know about how he had struggled. How he was still struggling. But here Bradley was, in front of a group of kids lying to them about how they too could overcome temptations and sin to become pure in the eyes of God. He licked at his dry lips. “I’ve even uh, been able to have a few girlfriends.” His eyes darted at the kids and saw himself in their faces. “Anything is possible through the power of God.”
The way the priest smiled, his lips curling, made Bradley feel sick. Did he know what was going on in his head? Was he aware of the lies pouring from his lips or was he just proud of his ability to ‘fix’ people? Bradley wanted to vanish from here. Being near one of these conversion therapy places was the last thing he ever wanted but his parents insisted it would be ‘good’ for him to share his story. They’d arranged everything, written the emails for him and sent him here.
“Now, do you still experience those old…. Urges?”
Did the way his head shot up make him look guilty? “What? Uh- no- I mean uh-” Lying. He hated it. “Y-yeah. But I just pray to God in those moments. And he helps me.”
The priest’s face tightened, lips pressed into a thin line and a quick nod followed. Bradley felt like someone had stuck a knife into his stomach and twisted it. Should he have said something different? But the holy man laughed- “Well maybe you should come back and do our little program! Just kidding.” Bradley could taste metal in his mouth at the thought but forced out a laugh of his own.
“M-maybe!"
His limbs felt like tightly wound coils, ready to spring out of the chair and run from here. His muscles were tense and he couldn’t keep himself still. Hands gripping, twitching, leg bouncing, eyes darting. Did he look like a liar or just like someone with stage fright?
“Well, thank you for coming and speaking with us Bradley. God truly has blessed you.” Was it over? Relief washed over him. He smiled and lied once more.
“It was good to be here.”
Headcanons: nervous tick extraordinaire. He constantly tries(and fails) to break his finger biting habit through using fidget toys and fidgeting in other ways but always goes back to it. He has a tendency to pull at his hair as well as recite scriptures from the bible to keep himself in line. Part of why he’s so skinny is because he makes himself so nervous he gets sick and can’t eat or throws up whatever's in his stomach.
Anything else: I hope this meets the length requirements! Hope to hear from you dudes soon, constructive criticism is always welcomed and encouraged even if I’m not accepted!

Can you share some of your Eddie hcs with us? they can be completely random, i'm just in big eddie kaspbrak loving hours right now.
Ahh, I don’t usually do hc posts! But I will try, because my mind is all over the place and I can’t focus on answering more meta-ish questions right now. I have a lot of darker Eddie headcanons, but I’m gonna challenge myself to keep these ones lighthearted, because y’all know I get too heavy on this blog…
Here are some Modern AU, College Eddie HCs:
- Eddie watches a shit ton of documentaries on Netflix, you know, the ones about GMOs and the meat industry, Big Pharma and addiction, conspiracy theories, weird and gross medical stuff… basically anything that will make him stay awake at night stressing out about it.
- He Googles EVERYTHING. If someone tells him something and he’s not sure about what to believe, he fact checks on Google. Growing up being super gullible and easily tricked kind of made him paranoid about coming across as dumb or not having a lot of common knowledge.
- On that note, he also Googles a lot of jokes and memes that the other Losers send him. If something looks like it might be a joke or a reference to something, but he doesn’t get it, he looks it up so that he can pretend he knew the meme already.
- ALSO related to that, he’s always nervous about not being smart enough or interesting enough in normal conversation, so if someone he knows develops a new interest, he’ll “research” it so that he has something to say if it ever comes up. Because, y’know, he takes an interest in what his friends like.
- To be honest, Google is modern Eddie’s best friend and he almost never puts his phone away. Basically he’s Peridot.
- He really likes shoes. We all know Eddie is a shoe guy. He’s also brand loyal and owns a LOT of Vans, in different styles and colors. He probably doesn’t own any black or brown shoes, tbh. But definitely owns a pair of white Keds, too.
- He likes to be active, and goes jogging regularly. He’s always been good at running, after all! Also, it gives him a good excuse to still wear a fanny pack sometimes.
- He feels very vindicated that fanny packs are back in style, because people laughed at him for having one as a kid. But now a lot of big, openly gay YouTubers wear them and the Fab Five, so basically he’s Thriving right now.
- In high school he spends a year or two as a cheerleader, because his mom HATES it - it’s dangerous and it makes people think he’s gay. So it was cathartic to join against her wishes. But he ends up being very good at it and gains some popularity from it, too. Good excuse to wear short shorts, also.
- Eddie is, and will forever be, a terrible liar. He usually doesn’t bother trying, because he’s well aware that he’s too easily read. Often, he goes the opposite extreme and is TOO honest, but his heart’s in the right place.
- He is INCREDIBLY nosy. With all of his friends, he really cannot mind his own business. He cares a lot, and wants to help, but it can reach the point where it’s just annoying. He just wants to KNOW! Everything!! Ever!!! About everyone!
- Again, his heart is in the right place… but he’s a meddler. He wants to fix everyone’s problems but he probably shouldn’t get involved. Sometimes he makes things worse to begin with, but inevitably his earnest and persistent meddling does help mediate a lot of issues within the group.
- No one can ever say no to him. Like, sure, Richie is the MOST whipped member of the Losers club, but the others also have a really hard time denying Eddie if he wants something. Even Bev. But for some reason, Stan is especially susceptible to it, as hard as he tries not to be. It’s the doe eyes.
- Luckily, Eddie is dense as fuck so he has no idea the power his cuteness holds over other people. Not that he’d abuse it if he did know, but it’s all the more effective because he’s blissfully unaware.
- And last one, at least for now: Eddie is super idealistic and naive, and thinks that people are inherently good and can always learn to be better, which infuriates everyone who knows better than that, but no one has the heart to break it to him that some people are JUST assholes.
(cutting myself off before I go on forever, lmao)

Congratulations Brie on your acceptance as your OC  Elfi Greengrass! I want to thank you for the dedication you have already shown in reading all the links on the main, asking questions, taking direction, and not only being willing to discuss and adapt ideas but doing multiple rewrites even on details I told you that you didn’t have to. It’s clear that you are already invested, and it makes me even happier to welcome you as the newest member of our little rp family. With all that said and nothing really said about Elfi yet, let me just tell you that you have crafted a character that I can’t wait to interact with and develop connections with even aside from the obvious built in and I can’t wait to see how she weaves in with everyone else’s characters as well. She has a lot of potential to go in almost any direction as war looms more seriously and I can’t wait to see what you do with her. So, send in your account, I’ll make you a link to join the OOC blog, and let’s get her on the dash!
OOC
Name/Alias: Brie
Preferred Pronoun: She/her Age: 26 Timezone: PST but I sleep like I am GMT Activity Level: I am about a 7. I am a freelance writer and sleep during the day. So, I am usually on late into the morn around 7-8 am. I also have a two-year-old so being a mom has its restrictions, yet I am very honest when it comes to not being able to be on and for what reasons.
How did you find the RP (new members): searched next-gen-hprp
Original Character Information:
Desired Character: Elfi Greengrass
Face Claim: Adelaide Kane
Now, please check our dorm page! To see which house is needing a character and in which year!
School Functions (check Quidditch availability’s): (blank until added later after plotting?)
Character’s Sexuality: Pansexual
Why do you believe this will be a good character in this specific roleplay? I feel Elfi would bring a new life to the Healer Program given as she is not the norm of a character especially to the Bloodline she was born into. Given as she is a link to Scorpius Malfoy’s past, some character drama might be fun to engage in. It also helps to note, she is a ton of fun!
Elfi Greengrass is twenty years old, in her 2nd year of Uni and is in the house of Ravenclaw.
❝Some people are like clouds. When they disappear it is a beautiful day.
↳ MAGIC
Elfi is well-versed in most magical areas of wizardry, secretly, she enjoys learning as much as she can even into her older years. She is best practiced in Potions, Dueling, healing magic, and Transfigurations. She studious and tries as much as she possibly can in order to have control of Dream Manipulation but to this day she still has much work on controlling it, given as it is still hard for her to understand. She is best with the element of Air.
↳ BACKSTORY
Elfi was born in Paris, France to Daphne Greengrass and a Pureblooded Frenchman in a one-nightstand. Her mother never recalled the man, only saying that he was of pureblood and beautiful. Though to her mother’s dismay, she looks just like him. Her blonde hair lost among the girls pitch black hair and green eyes. Her mother’s family was not happy to know that she had let herself have a child out of wedlock, but given as it was with a pureblood man all was forgiven.
Now her mother and her stepfather live in Paris, France though Elfi was instructed to go to Hogwarts like her mother and her ancestors before her. She went to Hogwarts and was the first of the family to be placed in Ravenclaw. She valued intelligence over ambition. Throughout Hogwarts, she was known as the Ravenclaw who knew how to party. She was friends with most people no matter what her name was she did not care what stigma was held against it. She was friendly, yet flirty which got her into much trouble most times.
Given her history with her cousin and her aunt, she tried to steer clear of him. She did not understand why her Aunt had left. She saw her every now and then but cared not to ask how she was. It was not right of her to leave. As time passed Elfi had many boyfriends and girlfriends but still to this day has not settled keeping more to her own company in fear that who she will get with will leave her just like her father and her aunt left their own families.
Magically speaking, she is okay with the other elements having spent much of her time outside of sleeping, partying she was studying. She still has many issues with the Earth element given to her personality does not allow her much freedom of feeling grounded. She knew that her given house was a disappointment to most of the Greengrass and Malfoy family, hoping to make them happy, she had taken it upon herself with the ambition to graduate Hogwarts University with top marks and a job waiting for her out of Uni.
When she found her element, it scared her. She was afraid that if people found out that she would be shunned. Granted, it should not have been a surprise given to the fact she would be a spirit elemental given that most of her family made up of the element. Though, she had no idea what her father might have been.
Hogwarts went by in a party hazed blur with late nights studying in the library and spirit rooms and multiple parties of all kinds she graduated with all EE’s as she eased her way into Hogwarts University. Currently, she is in her second leg of University classes for the Healer program. She hopes to one day have her own practice and participate as a Mediwizard in games. She takes her work very seriously, but she still knows how to have fun. Her classes include the Healer Program and Extensive Quidditch. She is an unregistered Spirit Elemental and professes Air as her element.
Since the destruction of Hogsmeade here usually safe havens are no longer standing. When she is at University, she can be found studying, but since the destruction and take over of Club Penguin her job has moved to a shady bar in Knockturn Alley called, White Wyvern. Though it is not as safe as the Hogs Head, funnily enough, it makes for good stories. Currently, with their Weekend hangout locations no longer available she is left to roam the rubble in search of a place she may once feel save again, in her own skin and element. Maybe, some point over time she will find it.
She loves spending time with people of all kinds hoping soon the gap will be bridged between all the elementals like it had of blood. But, of course, such things take time with blood needing to be spilt before things of action actually come to pass. She just hopes in her time at the university she will be able to aid whenever that actually comes to happen.

Remnants from the night before played over and over in her head. Had she really gotten blazed at work? Course not, it had to be a dream. But as she sat up, her silk sheets sliding off her, the throb in her head said otherwise. So many shots. She just had to try to keep up with those guys. It was a love/hate relationship her competitive nature. She should have been smarter. Bartenders are not suppose to drink the merchandise. That was the owner’s one rule and she had blew it. Maybe, if she was lucky, she could charm her way maybe even with her maxi-push-up bra, that was if the girls were into that sorta thing and if not maybe she could bring a guy. If Scorpius did not hate her still it would have been nice to use his looks. But, given the fact she was talking about manipulating him…it probably would not work anyways.
Elfi groaned loudly. Her roommate lay sound asleep snoring in her bed. She would need a hangover drought and quickly. She threw the covers back as the cool of the dorm air sent chills leaving goosebumps in their wake. She tip-toed across the wooden floor yet a creak still seemed to evade her light footing.
“Elfi…quiet…bitksh” Her roommate grumbled turning over in her bed with a half attempt at cursing her. Elfi snorted to herself with a quiet giggle. Even in her sleep she was bossy. Elfi rolled her eyes as she came out of their housing door towards the bathroom. She had no idea what time it was nor did she really care, unless it was not a weekend day. Then, she was jolly well fucked. Elfi yawned walking into the co-ed bathrooms. The showers steaming the bathroom mirrors as she grabbed a towel from the public rack cursing to herself at her foggy brain for forgetting the shower caddy. Her wand lay in its holder just resting around her shin within its leg strap. With the flick of her wrist, her caddy came flying to her hand. She loved magic.
Since times were becoming more evasive she decided to invest in the hidden wand holder. It was especially nice for late night hook ups and home intruders, or well the guys her roommate brought home. They were not the most trusting. Not some you’d find at an American Ivy League Fraternity, or were they?
“Hey sugurbums want some company?”
“Hey Elfi. If you want, wouldn’t mind the company.” Her best friend smiled back at her his hair underneath the head of the shower soap running down his face.
“Another late night?” She asked, undressing and making her way in the shower beside his. Maybe it was weird to other people that they were so open with themselves and each other. But, never saw anything weird about showering alongside the other. They had been friends since Hogwarts and before. He was gay. She thought him attractive, but never cared it did not matter. So, I what was there to be weird about? He was the only one to ever know her for who and how she truly was.
“Yeah. And dirty one.”
“Eww. Ha. No sex talk until after we are both dressed. That I draw the line at the idea of you getting happy in the next stall.” Elfi shook her head laughing.

My experience one year ago was similar to many of the speakers at Huizenga Park on Sunday, June 11 who recalled that fateful day. Waking up to many of my friends in Orlando checking in as “safe” on Facebook was a heart wrenching thing to live through. Gradually, more and more information broke through about Pulse, a gay nightclub in the area. My heart sank knowing that I had queer friends in the area and I held my breath waiting for them to respond with a “safe” check-in. The idea of “safe” in these spaces I hold onto dearly for a sense of community was attacked that day.

In a recent report by Newsweek, a study has shown that saying “it gets better” to queer youth without giving them any guidance to make it better, actually has less beneficial, if not harmful effect. To what extent the world has gotten better since the horrific attack at Pulse Nightclub is, I cannot attest to.

The Equality Rally for Pride and Unity began with a light association of people that gradually gathered into hundreds in this park in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. A mostly unassuming stage with an American flag center-stage flanked by rainbow bars in an open air bandshell served as the hub to which vendors, 97.3 FM, and the ACLU alongside other human rights organizations made their claim. One speaker lamented that even though the organizers had reached out to the local Black Lives Matter chapter, they could not send a representative to appear.
https://flic.kr/p/VJwsfz
Amongst the bevy of rainbow flags and material were representatives from important local organizations like SunServe and Stonewall Museum strewn across the lawn. Yet, with the presence of FLPD, corporate sponsorship, and a few leftover Uterus hats in the crowd, it would be apparent what kind of event this was. Serving as the emcee for the speakers was Ft. Lauderdale District 2 Commissioner Dean  J. Trantalis who would command the stage with the poise and casual ease of a politician well aware of his audience being key campaign demographics.

While performances were a bit on the softer side with a former The Voice contestant flail through a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, a track that has become a snake losing its venom in recent years as an obvious choice for the pageantry and overbearing corporate presence of modern Gay Pride rallies. As well as, The South Florida Gay Men’s Chorus’ immense harmonies and talents being relegated to performing the anthem to a nation that once refused to acknowledge the personhood of queer people.

Moments such as Latinos Salud bringing friends and family of the victims of Pulse to the stage, in white shirts holding up images of their lost loved ones evoked a visceral reaction. These 49 people were dehumanized in life in a senseless massacre, and in their passing and seeing their faces along with their names confronts the audience with the reality of the situation. The shooter targeted the club on Latin Night. 94% of the victims were Latinx. Latino Salud drove home the importance of intersectionality within their community and the necessity of empowerment.

In a scene that could not have even been written on the best episode of Veep or House of Cards, disgraced former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz showed her face to a crowd of LGBT people on the main stage and told them how we need to unite. Wasserman-Schultz’ tenure as DNC chair came to a halt when it was revealed that she had actively undermined the presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders revealed through WikiLeaks and she resigned. She drove this sense of “unity” that was reiterated well along the campaign trail as voters were now forced to decide between two harsh realities for president- A Republican, and Donald T*ump.

Following her, a representative for a homeless advocacy group “Food Not Bombs” took the stage. Announced simply as Elijah (they/them) by Commissioner Trantalis, they walked on adorned with face glitter, a black tank top, and a truly sickening rose petal skirt. If you hadn’t known any better you’d swear they were at Coachella. Elijah’s speech was slow burning and as they had revealed to me, they were apprehensive at first to speak. The quiver in their voice and the occasional cracks in their presence through giggling showed not a lack of preparedness but instead a resilience to make a statement in a place where it may not entirely be convenient. Their speech explicitly called out the City of Ft. Lauderdale’s “Homeless Hate” laws as well as, anti-LGBT violence that Elijah had witnessed firsthand at the hands of the FLPD. The fact is a 40% of homeless youth in shelters nationwide identify as LGBT, many shunned from homes that could not accept them for living their true, authentic lives. From the crowd, Trantalis could be seen nervously pacing back and forth, having to prepare for a potential PR nightmare on his hands and ready a speech. As the “Wrap It Up” music attempted to usher Elijah off the stage and audience members yelling “this is a UNITY rally!” I knew that was the radical statement I had been waiting for.

So can I say that it truly “gets better”? I don’t know. But I do know that empty sentiments like encouraging people to register to vote only go so far. Change cannot come from within a system that is already corrupted. Only one year removed from the Pulse Massacre, the rise of white nationalists has gripped sections of LGBT people into supporting a movement that throws the originators of the gay rights movement under the bus.  Weak liberalism and corporate democracy has lead to one of the most openly racist, sexist, anti-Gay presidents in decades holding political office (and yes I am counting Ronald Regan). In nations like Chechnya, ethnic cleansing and less explicit forms of queer oppression are taking place and all deemed perfectly legal.
https://flic.kr/p/V9imvJ
The movement “Gender Is Over! (If You Want It)” has always been the ideological group I align myself with in queer politics. Their bold typography stated in black and white clothing makes the imperative that the ideas and roles of gender have become outdated and change must come from within a community as well as, individuals. I wore the same mesh “Gender Is Over!” tank top that day the same reason I wore it one year ago on the day of the massacre. Toxic masculinity and queer bashing go hand in hand. The only way violence against LGBT people and the recognition of personhood can ever come to be, is destroying old patriarchal views of society, sexuality, and especially gender. I remember being angry that day. I remember my heart in the pit of my stomach. I remember finally being ready to no longer feel the need to hide anymore. Maybe this is what it means to “get better.”
https://flic.kr/p/Uv2i1K
The ethos of gay pride is built on queer liberation, not pinkwashing or rainbow capitalism. I could care less for the “All Lives Matter” sentimentality in Trantalis’ speech, or pride flags made by Abercrombie and Fitch, queer resistance is existence. Corporations heralded by CEOs who fund Super-PACs for anti-LGBT legislators (i.e Coachella founder , Urban Outfitters) will willingly throw queer people under the bus until they no longer become a viable demographic to shell out $300 rainbow colored jeans to. The Stonewall Riots, were started (unlike how a certain filmmaker would like to acknowledge) by Marsha P. Johnson, a black trans woman and other queer, mostly POC retaliating against police to send a message to the world, and that message will not be bought or sold by any corporation or CEO. Queer liberation is not a party everyone will feel invited to, but if you want it, it will be a battle well fought.

↳IC QUESTIONNAIRE:
What’s one thing that brings you joy?
There’s lots of things that bring me joy! Is it too cheesy to say that Kurt and Glee Club are on top of the list? Kurt because of obvious reasons, and Glee Club because it’s just really amazing to have a safe place like that at school, a place that’s all about music and friendship, and being there for each other. And I just really love performing. There’s nothing that beats the feeling of being on stage and singing your heart out in front of an audience.
If your life was a movie, what songs would be on the soundtrack?
That’s such a hard question! I listen to all kinds of music, so there’s a million songs going through my head right now. There’s so many songs I love, but I’m not sure if they’d necessarily be the right ones to tell the story of my life?  I think Love Is The Drug by Roxy Music would make a great song for the opening scene, and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry should definitely be included as well. Perhaps Breakaway, by Kelly Clarkson? I’d also really want to include a Broadway song, but I can’t think of the perfect one right now. There’s just too many good ones. I’m gonna have to think about this for a little longer, because I’m not completely satisfied with this answer… I’ll get back to you!
If you could switch bodies with one person for a day, who would it be?
It might be a bit of a strange choice, but I think it would be very interesting to switch places with my father. I feel like getting the chance to see the world through his eyes might help me understand him better. Switching bodies with any Broadway actor would be amazing too, though. Just to see what it’s like.
↳BIOGRAPHY
tw: homophobia, tw: violence Growing up in Westerville, Ohio as the youngest member of the wealthy Anderson family wasn’t always easy for Blaine. Although he was an active and cheerful kid, and was in perhaps a few too many clubs, he sometimes had the feeling that he was a little different from his peers. He climbed trees and played football with the other kids, but he also made sure to practice his piano skills every single day, and ran around being dressed up a good amount of time while singing along to the radio as he pretended to be a Disney Prince or a superhero. His singing, dancing, acting and piano classes were what he looked forward to each and every week. Despite loving the arts, Blaine also hoped it would be a way to make his parents and Cooper proud of him, to get their attention, but his older brother always seemed to do everything just that little bit better. He pushed Blaine to the background; in their famous Anderson duets and the plays they performed, but also in conversations at the dinner table. The two didn’t really get along because of this, but despite Cooper’s endless ‘advice’, which felt more like criticism to Blaine, he still looked up to his brother. He wanted to be in the spotlight, just like him.
But as he got older, and his brother moved out, Blaine learned that being in the spotlight wasn’t always a positive thing. By the time he was in middle school, others started to make fun of him for being interested in anything theatre-related, and when his peers started talking about girls all the time, Blaine realized that he wasn’t interested in girls at all. Sure, they were beautiful and they could be very nice, but he never had wanted to kiss them, or hold their hand. It was boys he liked; Disney princes, Cooper’s friends and the boy with that cute puppy that he often saw at the park. His peers started to mention the word “gay”, mostly directed at Blaine. He wasn’t sure what it meant, but his peers made it sound like a bad thing. One day, his curiosity got the best of him , so he decided to ask Google for help. Suddenly, it made sense to him why he had always liked the Disney Princes better than the Princesses, and what the strange feeling in his stomach he’d gotten whenever he’d seen the cute guy with the equally cute puppy in the park had meant. He wasn’t sick, or weird. There was nothing wrong with him. He was just gay.
In the summer before his Freshman year, Blaine decided to tell his parents. His mother’s response was positive; she told him the only thing that mattered to her was seeing him happy, and if being with a guy would make him happy, then that was completely fine. Cooper didn’t really seem to bother either, but Blaine wasn’t sure if his brother had even been listening. His father, however, needed more time to get used to the idea. When Blaine told him, he didn’t really responded at all, actually. Blaine’s parents often drag him along to some of Ohio’s fanciest parties, and although he’s great at pretending to be the perfect son in front of his dad’s friends and colleagues, he actually doesn’t get along well with his father at all. It’s not like they hate each other, or don’t love each other – they just don’t seem to get each other. Ever since Blaine came out, the two have gotten more and more distant. Blaine’s father used to introduce him to his colleague’s daughters every chance that he got, and made Blaine help him fix up a car, hoping his son was just ‘going through a phase’ and that he’d somehow turn out to be straight after all.
But Blaine knew better, of course; this wasn’t a phase, this was simply part of who he was. So, despite his father’s mild disapproval, he came out at school as well. The reactions there were much worse, though.  Almost immediately, his peers started picking on him, and the few people he thought were his friends turned their backs on him. He did not fit in at all, and it seemed like every single one of his classmates was determined to make his life a living hell. Blaine only had one friend, and he often came home with bruises and nasty words echoing through his mind. He was a small boy, so no matter how hard he tried to stand up for himself, he couldn’t get the bullying to stop. In fact, it only got worse, and things escalated eventually. Several weeks of recovery, both in the hospital as well as at home, had been the result of Blaine and his friend getting beaten up when they attended a Sadie Hawkins dance together. After months of getting bullied and teachers not doing anything to stop it, this was the final straw and Blaine decided to transfer to a different school. It was such a relief to have a fresh start, and Dalton was absolutely amazing: an all-boys private school with a zero-tolerance bullying policy, where Blaine finally could finally be himself again. He made new friends, became the lead singer of the school’s Glee Club and gained more confidence.
But then he met Kurt, and Dalton slowly started to lose its appeal. Not only did Blaine want to spend as much time with the person he loved as possible, he also regretted running away from his old school, instead of standing up against his bullies. So he decided to transfer again, to McKinley this time. It took some time to get used to public school again, but with Kurt by his side, he could handle anything. But now that Kurt’s no longer at McKinley anymore, Blaine feels a little lost. This used to be Kurt’s school, with Kurt’s friends; Kurt was his anchor. It’s a little daunting, but part of him is also excited, and he’s determined to make the best of his Senior year. If it’s up to him, he’s going to make friends for life, win the Glee Club another National Trophy, work on his relationship with his father, play the lead in the school musical and make sure that he has the perfect college application.

LGSM: From Movement to Myth to Movie
In 1984, amid the worst strike in Britain’s history, a group of lesbian and gay men came together to raise money for and support the miner’s strike. This group, which became known as Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners or LGSM would have a profound affect on the mining communities they supported as well as on the gay rights movement in the Labour Party. But how did a group of lesbians and gays, in a time where they were persecuted and AIDs was just beginning, manage to come together with small mining communities in Wales, where most people had never met a gay person in their lives and there was a very machismo culture? In this paper, I will explore how LGSM and the South Wales mining communities came together to support one another, including the community’s reaction to LGSM, how AIDs may have affected the group, and the breaking off of lesbians from the group to create their own support group.
LGSM first started when Mark Ashton, along with his friend Mike Jackson, took buckets to the 1984 Pride march to collect money for the miners strike. After earning a few hundred pounds, they decided to put an ad out in a local LGBT newspaper, Capital Gay, and on Sunday, July 15th 1984 the first meeting of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners was held. Eleven people attended the first meeting, most of whom had already been donating or collecting money for the miners through their jobs or their unions, and the group inly continued to grow from there. While the group contained people from all sorts of political backgrounds, including members of the Young Socialist Party, the Labour Party, and the Communist Party, the group decided to leave politics out of it (minus their collective hate for Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative government) and focus on one thing, and one thing only, supporting the miners in any way they could. LGSM’s constitution, written on September 2nd 1984 reads, “The aim of the groups is to organize amongst Lesbians and Gay men in support of the National Union of Mineworkers in its campaign against pit closures and in defense of the mining communities [and] to provide financial assistance for miners and the families during the national miners’ strike,” (Tate 127).
The group would raise money by standing outside of gay bars and clubs in London (where the group was based out of), such as The Bell and Heaven, or popular gay spaces like Gays the Word bookstore where the group would sometimes hold meetings, with collection buckets. They had to collect in pairs of at least two in case of attacks or harassment, and often were not allowed inside of these spaces because club or bar owners did not want the group bringing up politics or serious matters in places where their customers came to relax and indulge in what was then seen as a very hedonistic gay lifestyle. At this time, being gay, especially out in public was a very dangerous thing, as gay bashings and police harassment were common occurrences. In one instance, a few members were outside of Gays the Word collecting, standing right underneath the stores awning that they were told by the storeowners was their property so they should be allowed to collect there legally with their permission. However, the police came by and told them they could not be out on the public street collecting, and when the group fought back they were told that they would all be arrested if they did not leave and they would think of something to charge them with on the way to the station. So, the group had to go back inside the bookstore and came back out when the police had left. The police came back almost every hour and told them to go and they would sit in the store a few minutes and come right back out, (Tate 144). It was not only like this for gay organizations, but for all LGBT people at the time. Even though being gay was technically decriminalized in 1967, it was still illegal to have gay sex under the age of 21 and many ran the risk of arrest simply for touching or dancing with a person of the same sex in public. This homophobia was heightened in the public by the media who viewed gay people as “metropolitan” “perverts” who wanted to infect children and working class men their gayness. Even through their own persecution, LGSM and its members fought back in order to help the miners, a group historically known for its homophobia, because as founder Mark Ashton said, “One community should give solidarity to another. It is quite illogical to say, 'I'm gay and I'm into defending the gay community but I don't care about anything else’. It’s important that, if you’re defending communities, you also defend all communities," (Dancing in Dulais, lgsm.org), and at that time the miners were being persecuted just as the gay community was.
Even though they were able to collect money for the miners, LGSM needed to find a way to get it to them. Sending money to the National Union of Miners or NUM was unreliable, because the government kept trying to sequester their funds since no ballot had been held to declare the national strike, so it was according to the government-run National Coal Board’s new laws, illegal. Due to this, many support groups would twin with a mining community to directly support them. However, LGSM was worried about finding a mining town who would respect them and be willing to take the money they had collected. Luckily, a member of LGSM knew Hywel Francis through the Communist Party, and he was apart of the Neath, Dulais, and Swansea Valley Miners Support Group in Dulais. So, the group reached out to him and he agreed to take the money, not caring that they were gay. He sent Dai Donovan, who had been traveling often to London to raise money for the community, to meet the group and that is how this unexpected relationship started.
Mike Jackson, after meeting with Dai Donovan, wrote to the support group to formally ask to twin with them. However, neither Dai nor Hywel had told the group prior to their meeting that they were going to meet with them and accept their money. When the letter was read out at the support group’s meeting it was met with a bit of laughter and shock that Dai had actually met them, as Christine Powell explains “ ‘Silence. Shock. I mean gays were people who existed elsewhere’,” (Tate 133). The support group decided that it would twin with LGSM and did not mind too much the fact that they were gay. The support group needed about £3,000 a week to supply families on strike with food parcels and additional support, and LGSM donated about £400-500 a week, becoming the largest donating group.
As their relationship grew, the support group decided to invite LGSM to their meeting hall in Dulais to meet the communities they were supporting just like they had with all of the other groups that they twinned with. There was a little rumbling about whether or not a gay group should be allowed to come, but these were quickly quieted as the members of the support group felt they had helped a lot and should be treated just as all of the other groups. When LGSM arrived they stayed with various families throughout the communities, went out to a few picket lines, and came to the Dulais meeting hall where they met others in the community. The men were a little shy at first, but the women warmed up to LGSM quickly and loved that all of the gay men would dance with them, something the men in South Wales never did. Though the men were a bit more reserved, they respected LGSM and thanked them for the help. Overall, LGSM’s worries about not being accepted by the South Wales community were unfounded, and the groups got on quite well. Both groups felt that it was powerful and important that they got to meet one another. Those from the support group found that the members of LGSM went through the same sort of police harassment that they did for picketing and having the media portray them as the “enemy within” and that they had more in common than they thought. The members of LGSM found that staying with these families and seeing the poor conditions they were forced to live in due to low or no income during the strike made them more passionate to raise more money. The biggest trouble the support group had with LGSM was the fact that most of the lesbians and some of the gay men were vegetarians or vegans. This was something that was most certainly NOT in Wales and they found it hard to feed them while they stayed with them. Even the threat of AIDs did not scare them. The only objection from the LGBT side was people outside of the LGSM who thought, “Why should we help the miners, what have they ever done for us?” This meeting caused friendships to flourish and the bond between them to strengthen.
Over the next year, LGSM visited South Wales multiple times and the support group would also come up to London and stay with LGSM members, where they helped collect money and go out to gay clubs and bars and learn more about the gay community. Members of LGSM who were dealing with AIDs, like Jonathan Blake who was one of the first men diagnosed with HIV in England just a year before, confided in the women of the support group. They did not want to hide who they were and wanted to be transparent with the women they had gotten so close to. One of LGSM’s most successful benefit events was their Pits and Perverts concert at the Electric Ballroom in Camden headlining gay group Bronski Beat, where they raised £5,000 and about 1,500 people both miners who got in free of charge and gays attended, (Kellaway 1). Here Dai Donovan got onstage and gave a powerful speech, “ ‘You have worn our badge, “Coal not Dole”, and you know what harassment means, as we do. Now we will pin your badge on us, we will support you. It won’t change overnight, but now 140,000 miners know that there are other causes and other problems. We know about blacks, and gays, and nuclear disarmament. And we will never be the same.’”(LGBThistorymonth.org 1). LGSM also purchased the support group a van, which they desperately needed to deliver food parcels and help take miners to the picket lines. The van was emblazoned with LGSM’s logo, which the group thought was great because it would make people stop and stare and then think about the gay community which most people there did not often do. LGSM continued to support the group until the end of the strike on March 3rd, 1985 almost a year after it had started on March 6th, 1984.
During the year that LGSM supported the South Wales community, a group of lesbians within the group decided to break off and form Lesbians Against Pit Closures. Some members of the group felt that this was ridiculous, but others welcomed it as another way to help the cause. The women who left wanted a group that wasn’t dominated by men and that would be able to collect at women only spaces and teach the women in the mining communities about feminism. The support group did not care much that they formed a separate group, though some preferred LGSM because they did not like all of the talks and politics of Lesbians Against Pit Closures, not to mention the horrible vegetarian food at their meetings. Lesbians Against Pit Closures remained a small group and raised about £1,000.
That June LGSM had planned to walk in the Pride march and invited the mining communities of South Wales to join them. They were not sure if any of the communities would come, but on the day of Pride so many people showed up to march with them that they had to be moved to the front to lead the march. Later that year, gay rights had made it onto the Labour Party’s ballot to decide whether or not it be something that the Labour Party adopted into their agenda. They won by 600,000 votes, with the trades-unions pushing them through. The NUM had come out in support of gay rights and since they were the largest union, all of the other unions followed them, and gay rights officially became a Labour Party issue. This is mostly due to LGSM’s support of the NUM in the strike, which changed many miners’ opinions about gay people.
By the late 1990’s, LGSM and their unlikely friendship with mining communities in South Wales had become merely myth among the LGBT community. Some people knew about it, but no one was quite sure if it was true. In 2010, writer Stephen Beresford told film producer David Livingstone that this myth was one he wanted to explore and turn into a movie. So, he found past members and interviewed them as well as those from the support group in South Wales, and in the fall of 2014 he premiered the movie Pride based on the true story of LGSM and the miners, (Kellaway 1). The movie was a huge success and caused LGSM to reform and many new, young members joined. The group has also formed new sects of itself such as Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants and other Lesbians and Gays Support… groups. However, according to their website, lgsm.org, that in 2015 the group was stopping campaigning to focus on keeping their legacy and history alive. Even so, the movie encouraged many young gay people to get involved and support causes and communities like the LGSM did, and gave birth to a new generation of gay activism.
What happened in 1984-85 between LGSM and the South Wales mining communities was remarkable and changed the game for both communities. Even though they ultimately lost the strike, many families would not have been able to last in the strike that long if it was not for LGSM, and they gave the community a new understanding of gay people and created an air of tolerance and acceptance. The miners in turn helped get gay rights into the Labour party agenda, which subsequently led to the lowering of the age of consent for gays, anti-discrimination laws, and the legalization of gay marriage. This story of two very different groups persecuted by the government, has inspired many, and with the help of the film Pride and the recently published book by Tim Tate of the same name, this story is being shared with the world.

Lost Boys: Day 3
[ < ][First][ > ] [Masterpost][AO3] [Buy Me a Coffee]
Day three is only one chapter, also warning for suicide mentions
Saturdays are not the same when you’re not in your own home, and they’re really not the same when you’ve got an entire day of work ahead of you.  Noelle gets up early and meets Nina at the rink.  She’s waiting by the door laughing at Jumin and Zen bickering in the messenger when Nina saunters up, keys ready.
“I thought I said to take your time,” her friend yawns.
“I thought you said you’d be here already,” Noelle laughs.
She sets up a few cameras around the rink, this was Nina’s private rink time, it would just be the two of them.  Nina is on the ice in no time and Noelle takes her time getting her skates on, video of Nina warming up wouldn’t hurt.
Noelle pulls her sweater off and makes sure her phone has connected to the little speaker she’d brought back, she sets the playlist to repeat and catches up to her friend.
Nina points at her chest. “It’s been a while are you sure you’re ok in that thing?”
“I’m good,” Noelle gives her a thumbs up.  “I need some pairs shots and I don’t think they’re ready for gay mascots just yet.”
“Ironic considering the inspiration,” Nina snorts.
Between them she has plenty of video to finish her storyboard and do a short rotoscope demonstration for the client’s approval.  If she works most of the weekend she can even be ahead of schedule.  It’s an uneventful day both in her temporary home and in the world of the RFA.
She misses her own apartment, whoever Rika was in life she did not have nearly enough table tops in her apartment to accommodate the kind of space Noelle needed when she worked.  She makes it work however, between taking Darryl for walks and fielding calls and chats in the messengers she’s not even sure how she’s still going.  After the last few days she should be ready to fall into a coma.  But somehow she’s ahead of the schedule she’d set to be specifically ahead of schedule.
When her phone rings Darryl whines at the Tina Belcher groan she uses as her ringtone, it’s mid afternoon and she’s sitting on a table at the dog park.
“Two calls in one week, this is the worst lottery I’ve ever won.”
“Where are you right now?” Jumin asks.
She groans. “Since when are you my keeper?  Is there something going on I should be worried about?”
Jumin hates not knowing.  She can hear it in his voice, he wants her to admit she’s the woman in the messenger.  But Luciel had been very clear, under no circumstance could she tell him, and she knew Jumin enough to know he’d never outright ask her.  Anyone else he would but not her.
“You were not answering your home phone; I was simply curious how your new project was progressing.  Mr. Jeong had expressed some concern that you had taken a large amount of tools with you when you’d left yesterday.”
“What specifically was his concern?”
“Noelle, if you grind your teeth like that you will break them,” Jumin scolds her.
“Fuck off,” she laughs.
“Well,” he says expectantly.
“It’s going well, I did not steal anything, I took some cameras and spent this morning at the rink.  I’m way ahead of where I thought I’d be but this is the easy part really, I still need to find a second skater and I do have a back up presentation I’m going to prepare.”
“The client seems to be very clear on what they would like.”
“They are but all of the notes seem to want to leave any kind of copyright issues up to parody laws.  I can only shave so much off this with my connections; legal fees are a whole different ball game.”
It hadn’t mattered how many times she ran the designs with the client’s specifications she couldn’t see there not being a legal issue.  This was a sales campaign not fan art.
Jumin makes a thoughtful sound.  “Could you send me a photo of my nephew, and I will let you get back to your day.”
Noelle laughs, and hears the line go dead.  She snaps a selfie with Darryl, careful not to reveal any of the apartment, and sends it off to Jumin who responds with a photo of Elizabeth III.
*
What a day it had been.  He’d gone for a run first thing, all the way to the library and borrowed a copy of Hamlet.  He’d overheard No’s friends talking about how she knew almost the entire script by heart and he’d felt inadequate.  He’d never been good at school and he’d been so focused on musicals he’d never even considered performing something like Shakespeare but No had actually studied it.
And all that stuff she’d said about her childhood.  It was stupid that he was jealous that she’d had voice lessons for so long when it had caused her so much pain but there was a small part of him that couldn’t help it.  Her father may have expressed it horribly but he’d been supportive of her talent.  Zen slaps himself, supportive in a terrible, awful way.
He scanned over the scene, he wasn’t exactly sure what he was looking at, and he should have gotten her phone number.  He did have Elle’s number though.  He’d already called her once, and then she’d called him when he was getting the shower.  God that girl, she might be as bad as he was.
His eyes wander his small apartment and settle on the little lunch bag on his counter.  Had anyone ever brought him lunch before?  Fans had sent him sweets, and there was the odd woman and even man who had given him pastries, or bought him lunch but no one had ever made him a lunch, not since his mother.
He’s relieved when it’s time to leave for his meeting.  Not that the meeting itself had been anything exciting.  He was uncomfortable with how the writer seemed to throw herself at him, the way she took every opportunity to touch him.  He’s distracted, by Elle and her flirtatious call, and by unreadable No, who makes him lunch and lays her heart bare but seems to look right through him.
It’s all he can do not to check his phone at every opportunity.
*
“Missed a spot,” Luciel snickers as he hears the little pop that indicates his timed crumb bomb was successful.
Vanderwood growls from somewhere behind him but is sufficiently distracted, Luciel minimizes his work and glances at the security camera’s in the apartment.  Elle had been busy all day.  They’d gotten up and taken off just as he was starting to pass out at his keyboard this morning, and then they’d been working hard since.
He’d caught Elle, fielding messages from the app, and taking calls and all the time there were sketch books, and paper being filled with sketches.  They resolution was not good enough to see what they were doing but from what he’d caught through monitoring the call Elle had gotten from Jumin later that day, Luciel could see that it was work.
At least Jumin seemed to expect that level of commitment from everyone at C&R, not just Jaehee.
“That’s a familiar face,” Vanderwood squinted over his shoulder.
“Ah!” Luciel shrieked, he was rewarded with a slap to the side of his head.  “Madam, you gave me quite the frighten,” he snorted.
“Why are you watching this kid?” Vanderwood ignores him and watches the monitor intently.
Luciel turns and narrows his eyes on his handler.  “Are you both members of the androgyny club or something?”
“My last problem child had this job,” Vanderwood shrugs.  “It was a little below us really, a smear campaign but whatever, the agency was pretty new back then.  Find dirt on this kid, or plant it if we couldn’t.”
“So what did you do?” Maybe this would explain the bizarre mishmash of information his background check had turned up.
Vanderwood shrugged.  “Made it up, she was a pretty good kid, reasonably wild. The step brother was kind of a mess but from what I’ve heard he’s out grown it, despite everything.  We altered some text logs, a few photos.  Her father paid us a lot of money to drag her through the mud and make sure no one forgot it.”
Luciel’s eyes flick to his computer and his chest tightens.  The worm he’d released to delete all the hits on Noelle and Jumin had picked up a program releasing them within moments.  He’d disabled his own agencies program. He tries to suppress a smug smile.
Elle had only just come back into the apartment with their giant people named dog, he wondered if that was a habit they’d picked up from Jumin. He watched Elle, through 4 cameras while he listened to Vanderwood explain how it was this agency, Vanderwood’s previous agent even, that had, as Elle put it, ruined their life.
Camera one in the entry way watches Elle, kick off their boots and leave them in the middle of the floor, camera two on the computer catches a pair of jeans flop over the back of a chair and Camera three in the kitchen shows Elle in a pair of briefs and a hoodie chugging juice from the carton.
“Whatever you’re doing,” Luciel turns to look as Vanderwood barks, “can wait, you need to—” he pushes his hair back and snorts.  “Well she’s smarter than I’d have thought.”
He looks back to the monitor, three of the feeds are warped like a bad dream sequence, Elle comes into focus on Camera one, a jar of oil under their arm.  They flip the camera off but walk away leaving it intact.
*
He’d never seen Jumin so angry.  He’d pulled him out of fights more often than either would have admitted to their parents but that had been years ago, not since Noelle.  But right now, even with Rika in the other room getting ready to go out he thought that Jumin might hit him.
He’d never been afraid of Jumin before.
“This isn’t my fault,” he said softly.  But he knew from the way Jumin’s scowl wavered that he lacked conviction
They’d all seen the news, his mother had called him before dawn the urgency of the news superseding their different time zones.  Noelle was in the hospital.  Noelle had almost died.  It had been unclear then, as the news broke exactly what had happened and his mother, for all her absences, had whispered into the receiver, did he think her father hurt her.   Rika had been lying next to him when he hung up staring expectantly with her kind eyes, bright even in the dim light of his phone.
“That sounded serious, is your mother alright?”
“She’s fine,” he’d said.  And then he’d lied.  It had been almost a year since Noelle had moved, this relationship was new he didn’t want her to know about Noelle, know that he’d given up so easily.  Rika was so fragile at times and he felt so guilty.
Jumin glared at him from the doorway.  “She tried to kill herself, Jihyun.”
He would have rather Jumin hit him, hearing Jumin of all people say it out loud had been worse than reading it in the paper, or fielding the inquisitive texts from his mother.  Still he had trouble believing it.  “Are you sure,” he ventures, trying to keep his voice even.  Rika is in the next room.  He doesn’t want her to know.
“Do you know how many reporters have called me? There’s a gaggle of them in lobby just waiting for me to come back down.” He pushes past V and sits heavily in an armchair.  “My father called Mr. Lee, it’s not conjecture on the media’s part she did this to herself.” Jumin leans forward with his head in his hands.
“I’m sorry,” he says, he doesn’t know what else to say.
“You should tell her that,” Jumin snaps at him.
The door to the bedroom opens after a few moments of uncomfortable silence and V watches Jumin transform, the harsh angles of his face soften and his shoulders relax, he smiles at Rika.
“Oh,” she chirps, “am I running behind I thought we were leaving at 7.”
Jumin smiles softly at her.  “No, you’re perfect; I had just stopped to let V know I won’t be able to come with you tonight.”
“Are you sure?” She pouts.  “V is acting like someone died today, I was really looking forward to letting you cheer him up after the show.”
He watches the way Jumin controls his breathing when he shifts his focus from Rika to himself.  “I’m sorry Rika,” he doesn’t take his eyes of V as he stands.  “I’m sure as lovely as you are in that dress Jihyun will have a hard time staying sad.
Why was he remembering that?  That had been the night Rika had first seen Hyun. She’d been so upset that Jumin had canceled on them, and they’d gotten into a fight on the way to the theatre, he was hiding something, and she could tell, she could always tell.  He’d been relived when her attention switched to the show stealing boy with the red eyes and silver hair.  They’d gotten dinner afterwards and she’d spent the whole evening trying to find out more about him, distracted from her earlier ire.
No one has been to see him since last night.  She’d declared today a day of joy and ecstasy and as so often happened he was excluded.  His job was to suffer, though truth be told the tightness in his chest felt lessened and his head seemed clearer somehow.  It was almost a relief to be alone on these days, even with the dark turns his thoughts would take by evening.  He knows he’s safe from himself.  He knows Saeren is outside his door.
Saeren had taken him out past the signal jammer earlier that day to receive and return calls to Luciel.
“Only Luciel,” he’d cautioned, spitting his brother’s name.
Luciel had spoke hushed, and excitedly about the new member, whispering about Hyun and his growing infatuation, and from the sounds of it V could guess Luciel had a small crush of his own.  “R-respect,” Luciel had stuttered when he said as much.
Saeren growls and glares when V laughs.
He checks his messages while Saeren huffs and groans impatiently at him.  He wants to be done out here, left to what small bits of joy and ecstasy he is allowed while monitoring the RFA and V.
“There are a lot of messages from Jumin,” V finds himself saying.  “He wants Luciel to give him this Elle woman’s background check? He wants me to call him, he says it’s urgent.”
“No,” Saeren says and he grabs V’s hand leading him roughly back into Magenta.
He’d argued briefly that Jumin would be more suspicious that he’s being ignored than if he’s appeased or fed excuses but was met only with Savior’s said, and the usual threats of violence.
His fingers brush the lens of his camera and he wonders if there’s enough vision in his left eye to capture the way the last light of the day plays across the tile floor of his room, does the reality look as stark as he thinks?
He considers briefly if he fell from his window camera in hand, would the last image he captures be a beautiful as her smile.
