one thing that's really damn annoying with the reactionary "stop making horror movies" bullcrap is these people demanding "why don't you make something that's ~meaningful~ instead?!"

Like, first of all, horror movies can be deep and ~meaninfgul~.

Second of all...you people do realize that creating take time, right? You do realize that? You cannot just instantly create a huge in depth story overnight. That's not how this works.

All the people creating deep ~meaningful~ (and that is a uselessly subjective term to be applying to things that literally don't even exist yet!) stories using Mickey Mouse need to have the time to actually fucking create those stories. We have to come up with the idea, and put that idea into motion. We can't literally drop a damn movie or novel or comic out of thin air.

Consumerism has destroyed your idea of creation and creativity if you think some cheap easy horror movies being announced means that no one is creating sincere stories about Mickey Mouse just because they aren't fucking finished yet.

Creators are regular damn people. We cannot immediately hand you a finished product as soon as the character becomes Public Domain, that's literally not how this works, and the fact that you think it is shows how little you understand about being an artist. You are literally just making yourself look ridiculous by crying that no one is creating ~meaningful~ stories with Mickey Mouse just because you haven't been handed a dozen finished products literally on Januyary 1st.

Artists are not a fucking factory that exists only to churn out content that you want to see. Get over yourself and either shut up, or at least put your effort where your mouth is and create the stories you want to see yourself rather than constantly screaming that none of us care because we haven't dedicated every second of our time since January 1st 2024 -- five fucking days ago -- to churning out content that appeals specifically to you.

idk if you saw it but the ref for the final had a press conference or smth and he said the french are complaining that argentina's 3rd goal shouldn't have counted bc two arg subs were stepping onto the pitch when lautaro took the first shot but they fail to mention that the french also did the same. they did it twice, once during kolo muani's (i think) shot that emi saved (they were so sure it was going in 😭) and again during mbappe's 2nd penalty. and now people on twt and those dumbass brit tabloids are running with it saying he "admitted he made a mistake". no he didn't lol. people just assume so many things in football bc they watch/have played like?? there's a rulebook. unless you've actually read it... subs wander on the edges of the pitch a lot and unless they push it, refs usually ignore it because!! as long as it doesn't affect the game or the shot being taken, play goes on as normal. argentina's goal stood and mbappe's penalty stood and play wasn't stopped after the shot emi saved because the subs didn't effect anything, it literally doesn't matter. he's not admitting anything lol, he's calling them hypocrites for doing the same thing and then complaining about argentina's goal as if french players weren't on the pitch for mbappe's.

And you've explained it wonderfully. It's literally like if you wanted that goal not to count, then France's goal should've have counted either. Regardless, there weren't calls that were ignored that advantaged either side. If people are going to yell about Argentina's penalty, well France should've have gotten that last penalty. If they don't want Argentina's last goal to stand, then Mbappe's penalty should've have stand either.

i absolutely cannot believe people are trying to start discourse about whether nex benedict was actually nonbinary / whether it was okay for him to describe himself as nonbinary to some people if he didn’t actually identify that way as if he isn’t literally DEAD because he was KILLED. this is a MURDERED CHILD and these monsters are so busy getting mad at the possibility that he might have been a trans boy who described himself as nonbinary to his family because that was easier for them to take that they’re turning a CHILD who was MURDERED into fucking discourse. even when we die at the hands of cis people’s violence, our own community finds a way to make us the villains of the story.

and all of this bullshit on top of the ways that cis people are already trying to say our grief over his death is unjustified. all of this on top of people claiming he wasn’t murdered and speculating on other causes of death (i literally saw someone say he “clearly went home and took the coward’s way out” and i have never been more disgusted) or claiming that he started the fight as if any action on his part could’ve been enough to justify his death. i am haunted by the sound of his father screaming that his child was not filth because that is what people have been saying about this poor kid, that’s how cruelly his memory is being treated, and even the trans community can’t get it’s shit together enough to look past the stupid discourse and see the tragedy in front of us. did you all forget that it was supposed to be up to us to grieve him in the way he deserves when the rest of the world fails to care if people like him live or die? did you all forget that this child was our sibling, the future of our community, a life that we should have had the chance to know and treasure while he was still here but that we now have a responsibility to hold close to our hearts in his absence? nex’s life was precious and it was ended far too soon and if you truly believe that anything is more important than mourning his life and fighting for a world where no more trans people have to meet such an awful fate, you’re a traitor to this community and you do not deserve the place you occupy within it.

i’m so tired. i can’t even imagine how tired his family must be, to see the public treat the child they’re grieving so horribly, to see the world fail their baby again. leave him alone. he was already robbed of peace in life; the least you can do is let him finally have it in death.

okay this has been going through my mind for days and I have to get my thoughts out before I explode

Disclaimer, this is not talking about a specific artist/person and would never condone or participate in anon hate or online bullying for any reason but especially this one. 

I get why people are mad about Link being portrayed as this buff, hypermasculine, tall guy. I am too (again don’t fucking attack people over it though) and it seems like such an infuriating way to change the character just to fit into some ideal of hypermasculine attractiveness or to make a ship fall into a more hetero lense by making him a decent foot taller than whatever girl he’s being paired with. 

The world of video games and action movies and every form of media ever is extremely saturated with male characters that are swole and manly and whatever other descriptors people are trying to push onto Link that don’t fit into his actual character. There are so many characters out there that already fit this male standard and having a clearly androgynous elf guy was like a breath of fresh air. 

Link was literally designed to be a character whose lines on gender were blurred, ‘a girl with a masculine touch or a guy with a feminine touch’ so that anyone could project themselves onto him. His physical design in botw/totk was specifically made to be feminine enough to wear a certain outfit to pass as a woman (which includes a nearly mandatory cutscene where he puts on the clothes and blushes after being called pretty, like you have to be blind to think that its an experience that he doesn’t like at all) and in totk there are a bunch of outfits made for Link that are blatantly gnc, ones that are practically dresses, include nail polish and lipstick, you can even dye his hair bright and vivid colors and that’s half way to giving him new pronouns. The whole reason Linkle isn’t included in more mainline loz games was because her existence would force Link into a gender dichotomy, if there's a clearly female version of the main hero, that means the main hero has to be a man, and they would rather abandon a potential reoccurring character than make Link conform to a gender binary. 

So pardon me when it feels disingenuous and even malicious for him to be morphed into these clear masculine ideals, where he towers over any female romantic partner (even when in canon he is regularly depicted as noticeably shorter than her) or even in m/m fanworks he’s really beefed up, perhaps to make the scene feel more gay or something. 

Perhaps it’s because his more twink-y/ femboy body type is so heavily sexualized (though obviously when people are sculping abs on him it’s totally not because they’re horny about it) and that’s an issue in itself that bothers me. But it’s just so tiring to see one of the very few popular main characters who is short and feminine and androgynous be molded into just another bland muscle-headed action hero over and over and over again. 

I’m not mad at the creators for portraying him differently than how I like him portrayed, I’m mad because we really do get so few characters like him in good popular media, and to be honest, I really like him the way that he is. I love that he’s tiny and has long hair and has the option to dress any way the player likes. It seems a little distasteful to make him taller than a female love interest just because that’s how straight couples have to be, there’s just never been a real straight couple where the guy is shorter than the girl, that’s just Impossible! (/s)

The funniest thing about Jayce is that while yes, he's juggling other peoples' interests/loyalties, he's only sort of malleable and mostly kind of uncontrollable. People can tell Jayce something and he will in fact listen to it, absorb the new information, but it's a genuine gamble to guess what he does with that information.

Heimerdinger tells him exactly how to avoid punishment for his trial and Jayce DOESN'T do it. Jayce decides to defend himself and the merit of his work. The Medardas want hextech weapons (for varying reasons), Viktor says no, meanwhile Jayce already has blueprints laminated and framed in his room.

Jayce didn't ask to be a Councilor, but he immediately throws himself into rooting out corruption. When Mel tells him he's gonna need to play ball to stay alive politically, Jayce goes, "Ball is life". Then Jayce manages to amass enough political capital to kick off HEIMERDINGER of all people.

Second to Jinx, Jayce is the character that asserts the most agency in the cast. People really try to pull Jayce in this and that direction, but his character, his morals, just who he really is pushes at any supposed binary others try to place him in. The choices he makes always align with his core, and it inevitably puts others in a position to accept the consequences of bringing up the issue to him in the first place.
