my mom hasn’t seen my chest post-op at all because the idea of it is so awful to her that the one time we took my bandages off with her present, she ran across the hotel room to hide from it and started crying to my brother about it (yes, with actual tears). she drove an hour and a half with us at 5:30am to my post-op just to sit in the waiting room because she refused to come in and see me after the surgeon took the bandages off. my dad has been the only one helping me with recovery things like changing bandages and monitoring healing because she still won’t look at my chest.

and she says that’s because she loves me and cares about me. love is when you treat the body your child can finally live in comfortably like it’s your worst nightmare. apparently.

I'm for trans men having gender-affirming marks on identification and paperwork and still being able to access OBGYN and pregnancy care, and contraceptives.

I'm for all men's restrooms including baby changing stations, because fathers exist and need to change their babies.

I'm for black men having a voice and being seen and heard, and not assumed to be predators for being both black and men.

I'm for fathers gaining custody of their children in the face of a court system which favors the mother, stating that a child should "never be without their mother," granting custody to even the abusive mothers while taking it away from their fathers.

I'm for boys receiving both 'boy' sex education and 'girl' sex education, so they know how periods and pregnancy actually work.

I'm for boys and men giving and receiving emotional checkups, hugs, and everything soft because boys and men both deserve softness. Boys and men deserve to express their emotions healthily. To know how to express emotions healthily.

Men deserve access to care, patience, love and kindness.

I'm a little tired, so I'm not sure if this is articulated properly. But the way that people who call trans men who talk about transandrophobia/anti-transmasculinity/transmisandry/etc "MRAs" makes me angry in a way words cannot describe. (The phrase [T]MRAs makes me even angrier! Like yes, I am a trans men's rights activist. There are people in the government trying to take our rights away, for christ's sake!)

Ask any "real" MRA how they feel about trans men. Listen to the pure hate that will likely come from their mouth.

Do you really think a (cisgender) man who thinks he's oppressed for not getting to have sex with women is comparable in any way to a trans man talking about his oppression in a transphobic society?

I do want to talk about this idea of "If nazis target you, you should reflect and see why" that they literally used in their own shit. That is literal fascism apologism.

If you applied this logic to any other group, you'll see how bullshit of an argument it is. "Maybe the jewish people killed by nazis deserved it for their communities being easy to speak over and abuse" type of rhetoric. It sees the fact that fascists want to divide and conquer us as the fault of ourselves and not a tactic of bigotry.

Do you want to know what can actually be done when a group is being exploited to support them?

Solidarity from other groups. Listening to each other about the individual struggles we face. Warning people about dogwhistles, rhetoric, and the tactics of bigotry. Providing support to each other across identity lines with the understanding that our experiences are not the same but do not invalidate each other.

Not blaming us for it happening to us or making it out that transandrophobia is a special target of bigots and therefore their "In" to our spaces as if people are at fault for their own oppression. If bigots are targeting specific groups, they see them as a weak link because of the lack of support from peer groups, not because of anything wrong with the group. That's a sign those groups need more support and to be listened to and taken seriously.

OP of that blocked me, and the fake concern for my "headspace" because I called them out is also ableist as shit. Bigotry never comes alone and always comes in at least a pair.

I can’t take any one who says “transandrophobia is inherently racist because it lumps trans men of color with white trans men” seriously.

I say this as a person of color, this is the worst criticism of transandrophobia I have seen so far. It doesn’t sound like it was made in good faith and completely misses the point. Trans men of color and white trans men have an intersection in common, they are both trans men.

The discussion around transandrophobia is centered around the oppression primarily targeted at trans men and trans masc people. I am not even completely trans masc and I still use transandrophobia to describe certain aspects of my experiences.

This is the same argument that people used against allo and cis and hetero and mono.

People of color are not so uniquely different from white people that we cannot discuss our shared experiences.

Saying that trans men don't universally experience male privilege does not automatically mean that trans women do have male privilege.

Like... trans men and women aren't polar opposites that must always experience the inverse of each other.

Trans women and trans men are both oppressed by systemic misogyny, and thus do not benefit from male privilege.

If your argument is that trans men recieve male privilege because we're perceived as men, than that same argument would apply to any trans woman whose perceived as a man. But it's not accurate. We are both perceived as deviants are who refusing to adhere to patriarchal norms of gender.

Being perceived as a man does not help you if your safety is contigent on remaining stealth or closeted. And it also does not help you in contexts in which you cannot hide your birth assignment (medical, legal, etc).

"But trans men benefit from male privilege because you're actually men!" Yes we are men, no, not all men benefit from male privilege. Male privilege requires that you adhere to patriarchal norms of gender, which trans men are inherently deviant to. We are oppressed by systemic misogyny even when we pass, especially in medical contexts or in any situation in which we are outed.

Like I'm begging y'all to have any nuance regarding gender based oppression that doesn't rely on binary, black and white thinking.
