I'm very interested in the WIP about Silverstone: Pierresteban edition if you're okay to share a little more?
Hi !! It’s been a long time since I wanted to write a « race crash » fic about them.
It’ll be Esteban instead of Zhou and Pierre instead of Alex. There won’t be George or third car involved, as Pierre is the one to run directly to where Esteban landed.
Then it’s basically a display of their relationship as I’ll be taking what happened for Albon and Zhou after the crash.
Light angst and fluff planned for this.
The idea came quite literally a few minutes after the crash’s time and I started writing a few lines of it, which I hope to finish very soon and publish it !!
Hope it’s enough without spoiling too much ! 🙂

Comparing Piesteban to Brocades is like comparing Haas to Ferrari.
Well. Both teams race cars, so... 😂

With Ocon it’s always the same thing. I’ve known him for a long time, there are a lot of chances that things happen. I think he wasn’t very happy that I had started last and managed to overtake him, so he pushed me wide and I had to go off track. I could have forced my way in Turn 5 and we would have had contact, but it wasn’t worth it, as I could have another go after that. For me it wasn’t fair, because you leave the space for one car, but if they say you can race aggressively, I don’t mind. . . . compare it with many other situations, like with me in Silverstone, so it seems to be quite a grey area, as normally you should leave space for one car and clearly there wasn’t space for one car there.” In the end, I don’t care, because I finished ahead of him [Ocon] and I scored one point, and he didn’t score points.

Formula 1 has to find a “fairer” way to ensure talented younger drivers get race seats in the series, says Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly.
Politics and money have become a big factor in deciding who gets the race seat among the younger drivers. Esteban Ocon is the latest victim of the power play and may not have a seat in the next season of F1.
Gasly got a Toro Rosso seat in 2017, owing to his allegiance to the Red Bull Academy and next year, he is being promoted to the Red Bull race seat. The Frenchman believes F1 has to find a way to help current F1 stars like Ocon and the future generation stars like George Russell.
Speaking during the launch of a new Casio Edifice Toro Rosso watch in Singapore, Gasly said: “Clearly the issue is there,”
“I don’t know if it is getting more and more difficult, but clearly we are seeing at the moment with Esteban that no one knows what he is going to do next year.
“I also raced with Antonio Giovinazzi in Formula 2, who is a really talented guy, a hard worker and he deserves a shot in F1. We see George Russell as well.
“[Even] for me, after winning GP2, I had a year in Japan and it was the same for Stoffel Vandoorne, and we see it is pretty difficult.
“I am not the guy who can change things, but clearly F1 should look at finding a way not to make it easier but a bit fairer sometimes, [so] when a proper talent deserves to be in F1, to make sure that he stays there. I think performance should be the only criteria to be on the grid.”
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has a plan to run a third car to help the junior drivers. But Gasly does not believe it would make a big difference.
“A third car will be difficult,” he said. “If you look at years when Red Bull was dominating massively, or even Mercedes in the new engine era, if you see the same team in P1, P2 and P3, and the same team on the podium each weekend, it will not make F1 so exciting.
“It is difficult to find exactly the right solution, but clearly they should find a way to give a chance to all the young guys who deserve to be on the grid.”

Could you break up the generations?
I think you mean the different generations of drivers? If so, here. This is what I have done wit the currently F1 grid to break them up.
Schumi Generation (late 30′s)
Kimi
Fernando
Winning Generation (mid 30′s)
Lewis
Seb: I know Seb is close to the ages of a lot in the Lost Generation but he came in FAR earlier than them.
Lost Generation (late 20′s to early 30′s)
Valtteri: he is really the only still-racing current LG racer to have gotten his chance and failed. He’s been in Merc for years and still hasn’t beaten Lewis. I understand there is a little bit of favoritism but nothing compared to what you’ll see at Ferrari or at RB.
Daniel: Had his chance and foresaw exactly what I’ve been trying to say. The team continually prioritized Max over him and instead of sticking around he hedged his bets at another team. It’s a little tragic because he will never get picked up a team capable of a championship and even though he is championship material, he will never win one.
Daniil: All I can say is... at least he got a second chance.
Checo: Deserves to be in F1 and deserves to have had a chance at a higher team. But he didn’t really.
Kevin: Same for Checo.
Romain: At least he has many podiums. I don’t think we ever expected him to get a lot better but still... there is a trend here.
Middle Generation (early 20′s to mid 20′s)
Charles: Stuck in a shit car with Ferrari. He’ll be in his mid-20s by the time that Ferrari maybe gets their shit together. By then, Mick will be around... in a team that always prioritized another driver immensely... how do you believe that will be?
Max: Championship material. The team can’t pull the car and their shit together for him. His placing in the championship is clouded by Merc dominance.
Carlos: Place holder until Mick shows up at Ferrari in two years time.
Esteban: Will probably never be in a higher team. Destined for the mid-field for the rest of his career. I didn’t expect too much from him but it’s still a little sad.
Pierre: He will probably never get a chance in a championship winning car again. They will always prioritize younger drivers over him to place into the seat. Best I can see is if RB, in the future, has no other choice. Best thing for Pierre is the escape the RB family like Carlos if he ever wants to save his career. In my opinion, he's a better driver than Carlos by ten-fold and look what Carlos managed to do to his career. I can possibly see him taking over Seb’s seat at RP after he leaves in about two years time. #PIERREINGREEN (I am calling it). Or I can see him taking Esteban’s seat at Renault (which would be maximum PIESTEBAN ANGST).
Lance: Will remain at RP probably picking up podiums for the rest of his career. He doesn’t catch me as championship material but I can see him up there.
Antonio: I placed him with the generation because although he came in with the younger generation he is MG by far. Anyways, I see him hanging around AR for 1-2 years before they pull up a Ferrari junior.
Young Generation (early 20′s)
Alex: A little older than all the rest of these guys. I can’t see his career going much anywhere, sorry.
Lando: Safe at McLaren.
George: Headed for Merc and championships.
Nicholas: Headed for obscurity probably.
Mick: Headed for Ferrari in a few years time and will probably end up prioritized.
Nikita: Problem child. Don’t have much to comment on.
Anyways. You see what I mean? All in all I see a lot of negative set backs and hold backs for the MG. The difference between the LG and the MG is that the MG generation are all getting their chances in top teams just at HORRIBLE timing. Pierre? Too soon. Charles? Ferrari is garbage. Carlos? A place holder. Antonio? Too late. Max? Merc storm above his head. Lance and Esteban seem set for what they’re capable of though.
By the end of 2020 we will only have Valtteri and Daniel of the LG in F1 (if you believe Yuki is get for AT--which is all but pretty much confirmed). Valtteri’s career is over the moment George steps into that seat. And Daniel? Midfield and possible podiums for the rest of his career.
The lucky thing? After 2021 I can’t see very many (maybe 1 max 2) young guys in F2 who are going to push up to F1. Maybe Christian L, maybe Theo P and Callum, Guanyu Z or Logan S. Fernando blocked any of the Renault younglings from moving up and they’d have to kick Esteban after 2021 to move one of them up. In summary, I am hoping F1 cools down for a few years.
