Do you think that humans can use rings to protect themselves? I want to say no since we’ve never seen humans use rings aside from Eggman using rings to repair his eggwalker. I think it’s the walker that’s picking up the rings anyways since you drop rings when the walker takes damage, so I don’t think that counts. Whenever you hit a gun solider in Shadow the Hedgehog, they don’t drop rings. But I guess you could make the argument that you can only see characters drop rings when you play as them. None of the vs. character bosses drop rings either when you fight them. So, since we’ve never played as a human in a Sonic level before, we’ve just never got the opportunity to see them use rings to protect themselves from damage. What do you think?

I don't think that rings function canonically the way they do in terms of gameplay. I don't think that, in universe, characters can get shot in the head with a gun and just fly backwards with a bunch of rings flying out of them, and as long as they pick up at least one of those rings they'll be able to get shot in the head all over again no worse for wear. Like, the blinkytime mercy invincibility state you go into after taking a hit? That's obviously not canonical, that's just a gameplay convention.

In universe, the rings are definitely used as currency and also seem to be able to provide energy or power to the users collecting them.

Eggman also creates an entire amusement park out of rings. So in universe they have a wide application of utilities. Rings basically seem to be a naturally occurring source of energy in general, which is used as currency because of its wide availability and massive range of uses. Kinda like how "energy" is used as a currency in Stellaris

they're probably also literally gold, and could probably be smelted in the same way gold is in real life. Potentially.

Anyway all that to say I think the rings providing "Extra Hits" is just a Video Game thing and shouldn't be taken strictly literally. We never see that application of rings being used demonstrated or acknowledged in cutscenes. If there was even a single cutscene of someone getting hit and rings flying out of their body, that'd be something. But that never happens. Like when Shadow kicks Silver in the back of the head? No rings fly out of him. When Sonic and Classic Sonic get molly whopped by the Eggmans in the Time Eater? No rings fly out of them.

That being said, Maria can actually collect rings in Shadow the Hedgehog. And she is playable in that game if you have two controllers. But she operates under Tails in Sonic 2 rules, and can't actually take damage or die she just gets knocked back and gets all blinky.

This isn't the best level to demonstrate it since all the enemies either have shields or are floating but she CAN actually slap the shit out of GUN troops and deplete their health too =P

Anyway I don't think the rings work for anybody in universe the way they function as part of gameplay. That's just my interpretation though

Could you please write a song adapting Ted and Charlotte’s conversation/flirting/argument in The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals before he leaves her alone with Sam?

Like… there’s the genuine love between them; their respective issues, fears and unhealthy beliefs getting in the way of it; their regret that they can’t just be happy together while also not taking action to make that happen; the stress of being stuck in an alien zombie apocalypse; Charlotte’s grief over and Ted’s resentment of Sam; and their difficulty actually communicating all the previous things. And of course, the sexual tension. I just think that all of those layers interplaying would make a really good song. Especially since their dynamic wasn’t explored much in the show.

There could even be a coda where Ted, after leaving, muses that he could have done better, but he’s been very careful to never give her reason to expect better from him, so she’ll get over it. They’ll be back to their version of normal soon enough (messy as it is). So he doesn’t need to go back in there and apologize or say some heartfelt shit or anything. Then the final notes are the first ones of “You Tied up My Heart”.

I say this every time but holy SHIT this was fun

So I tried to get as much of this prompt into one song as I could - it doesn't cover the entire scene, so there would be a little bit of dialogue between this and "You Tied Up My Heart," but I think it captures a lot of their relationship and connection. There could also totally be some underscoring from this going into the next song in a full production. (Also this wouldn't be in a full production cause they wouldn't be singing, but I dream.) I also cheated a bit with the orchestrations - I've been trying to make them as playable by the original bands of the shows as possible, but for this I switched out the bass part for a second guitar cause why not. There's a little bit of "Time Bastard" in the opening synth part, and there's a pretty big motif/reprise/stolen chord progression in the bridge of the song - I was trying to think of other Hatchetfield songs relating to Spankoffski stories and sexual temptation and all that, and I think this one did the trick lol. I'm super proud of the demo for this one - it came out somewhere between "Dead Girl Walking" from Heathers and "D.O.A." from The Lightning Thief, and I'm really in love with it. Hope y'all enjoy!

i was so excitedly surprised to see the new visuals!!! they did a really great job combining the new origins cutscenes with gameplay and the timing was INCREDIBLE esp for a live show. infinite kudos and honestly i can appreciate them waiting two years to actually do this since the cutscenes really tied to first few medleys together

conductor absolutely CRUSHED IT dude was very understanding that the audience was going to be Losing It consistently and he made it work. so much love to that orchestra they did a stellar job and im so sad they’ll get overshadowed by the vocal parts (which. yeah obviously. but they did SUCH great work and the conductor did a great job directing the audiences applause to them)

felt bad they had to stop between every single medley for applause but such is life . also experiencing live audience reactions for stuff like the chemical plant zone drowning trap and amy being playable in the metal sonic race was amazing

enjoyed the sky sanctuary medley even though it took the place of the sonic 3k music overall, so much kudos to the video team that was SO cool (AND IT HAD THE FRONTIERS ANIMATED SPECIAL!!!!! YEAHHHH WIN FOR KNUCKLES FANS EVERYWHERE)

the believe in myself/it doesn’t matter one’s are always so sweet to me i love how they frame them using the cutscenes from each of their respective stories + the end card 🥺 now do that for everyone else’s themes!!!!!!!!!!

i’m definitely forgetting at least one bit in there but it was so delightful all around, the new arrangements were so fun, unleashed sweeps as always but one guy near me was SUPER passionate about aquarium park im glad he was happy. the frontiers medley ended w/ the new supersonic form and having not watched that trailer this was the BEST possible way to see that new content holy SHIT!!!!!!!!

intermission: that was the single most positive bathroom i’ve ever been in and i mean that in the least weird way possible. everyone was so so so excited and complimentary (ty to the person who liked my pins and whose fiancé liked the tails one. i like it a lot too :]) also kudos to the stunning wave cosplayer i saw she was killing it!!!!! molly whoever you were i hope you enjoyed the second half as much as i did

interesting structure too, compared to the order of the OG one in 2021 (which focused more on ramping up to the classics + live n learn at the end) this order bookended some of the less popular songs (reach for the stars and the new superstars theme particularly) with the BIG names

literally two minutes before the second half started i was telling my beloved friend i dragged along that all i needed to be happy was for them to have kept knight of the wind and it was the FOURTH SONG . WIN FOR JAY. 3 of my top fives within the first twenty mins of act 2. incredible

obviously escape from the city floored everyone. i think that got the most people singing but we were all already exhausted vocally it was very funny hearing what lines people mumbled. but it DID have the most call and response, with the biggest songs they would really just shut off the mics and let the audience sing a lot of lines it was so so fun

johnny took his leave from the stage (and complimented + thanked dave vives and also the fandom), said goodnight, and sometime around now tomoya ohtani was brought on (he deserved more applause and did eventually get it)

superstars theme was cool!!!! but right after city escape was funny bc . no one knows it. you go from most singable theme imaginable to everyone sitting as upright as possible and the half that wasn’t already recording to whip out their phones to capture it especially as they introduce it as “the first time this song has EVER played on this side of the ocean” lmao. hope you liked it london i’m glad you took us down a peg

his worrrrrrlddddd we all love it. we were all so tired. also we kept fumbling the lines bc we all like the zebra head version and rappings hard. i get it. video team did a fun job remixing the visuals for sonic + shadow + silver focus sections though it was really cool

it’s dead. it’s dead and gone . my hearing and also the ability to play sonic music it’s been forever changed . hearing those incredible songs from frontiers + a full live orchestra backing up the astounding vocals (HOW) was incredible. this is when i could feel the literal balcony shaking . my vocal chords are going to kill me tomorrow

obligatory “just one more” was undefeatable and ngl im so glad they did it second, the hype up with break through it all made it even better despite them going the opposite in the game . should have used the cooler going supersonic clip from the trailers rather in game though . no one is immune to undefeatable + the extending music video was crazy good

~ EVENT SPOTLIGHT : RAFFLE FOR PALESTINE ~

The IF COMMUNITY RAFFLE FOR PALESTINE is a charity drive spearheaded by Kit from “The Northern Passage” (@/northern-passage) to raise money for Palestine families trying to evacuate Gaza.

To participate in the raffle, you must provide a receipt that you donated 5€/$5 to one of the five selected GoFundMe to receive one ticket for the raffle.

Each further 5€/$5 donation (to the same or one of the other 5 GFM) will grant you another raffle ticket.

Prizes will be assigned to valid raffle ticket at random, using a generator. These prizes include portrait of characters (bust/full, coloured/sketched, background/clean), as well as writing snippets (500+ w/) or playable in- character micro-IF. The list of the 50 participating artists and authors can be found here.

You can redeem tickets for the raffle up until the 21st of June. Winners will be contacted shortly after.

here's my version of a fighting game inspired by super smash bros: the playable characters will include: hazbin hotel: charlie, vaggie, angel dust, husk, alastor, and sir pentious helluva boss: blitzo, moxxie, millie, loona, stolas, striker, stella, and andrealphus epithet erased: molly, giovanni, sylvie, percy, ramsey, mera, and indus far fetched: kira murder drones: uzi and N lackadaisy: rocky, freckle, ivy, and mordecai ramshackle: stone, skipp, and vinnie lumi and the great big galaxy: lumi and siona. the characters will have special power ups similar to final smashes in super smash bros. what do you think? :)

"Yeah, you're right. I guess I'm gon' have to check what other options are available." The person next to Kevin talked. "Hey, sorry to interrupt! I'm Tia, I couldn't help but listen. I'm part of the Theater Club, it's pretty cool! You should talk to Dani and Marcos." 

"Yeah, that surely is the place", Leo thought. There was a bunch of people on stage, not one known sim in sight besides Tia, the person he met during lunch.

"Hi, you Dani? I'm Leo. I talked to Tia and they told me you're the person in charge here." "Hi Leo, nice to meet you! That would be me, along with my brother Marcos over there." "Hi, welcome!", said Marcos. "It's nice to have new people down here."

"I need some extra cred, and Tia said you were accepting. Can I be of any help at all?" "Do you have any creative skills?", Dani asked. "Does writing homework and selfie photography counts?" 

"Yeah, no." But don't worry, we can work something out", Dani assured him. "I'm a legacy heir, so at least I can promise I'll have a lot of playable time to learn anything you guys need!"

"Welcome to Theater Club! Thank you for joining. We'd probably never have screentime otherwise."

It was almost 7, so the club called it a day and everyone went home. After that mortifying Molly moment the day before, Leo was thinking maybe Theater was exactly what he needed to get over it...

June

* Currently studying to get her PHD in chemistry.

* Captain of her university’s softball team, but despite her Star-power they have not won a game.

* Knows how skateboard but can’t do tricks (Carrie’s trying to teach her though).

Angie

* Works as a counselor at a high school.

* She can switch out of her werewolf-vampire form at will because it’s effectively a magical girl transformation. This makes her immune to sunlight in both forms, but she can never eat garlic or chocolate again. She is very upset about this.

Molly

* She runs with a whole gang of sea monster environmental terrorists! They are all very cool.

* ^^ including her partner Corrie. Might include them as a playable character at some point but I gotta draw them normally first.

Mimi

*No one really knows anything about Mimi. They know she’s a real nurse, and a really good one at that, and that she’s divorced and that’s about it.

Edith

* June and Andrew’s grandma!

* Turns out being a magical girl runs in the family and just skipped a generation lol.

* Used to have rocket/missile powers in her prime but it takes a lot of out her so now she elects to beat the shit out of people with her walker.

Andrew

* Has 2 older sisters that are like 10-15 years older than him, so he and June were always super close cus they were the same age.

* Ratatouille is his favorite movie which is why he adopted Feta.

* His magical girl powers actually gave Feta and basil human level sentience so they help him in the kitchen! Well, Feta does. Basil mostly just tried to eat stuff. They are both very good at washing their hands :) they also can’t talk lol

* June is a very good baker thanks in part to her knowledge of chemistry. Her skills are actually on par with Andrew’s to the point that they have family baking competitions on a regular basis. Andrew is currently beating her in overall wins 15-13.

* Ok I actually have a very funny backstory for Kanaaq:

* Kanaaq was offered her powers after saving a kid from getting crushed under falling debris in an earthquake, but her pogo stick broke in the process. So when foxolotl presented her with the “I’ll grant you a wish or give you a cool power if you promise to be a magical girl” she asked for her pogo stick to get fixed and IMMEDIATELY regretted it cus she’s trans and she very quickly realized she could’ve used her wish for free top-surgery lmao 😂

* She is sick nasty on her pogo stick like she can do backflips and stuff it’s crazy. Carrie refuses to take her to her usual skate park cus she doesn’t want to get shown up by someone on a pogo stick. Because Kanaaq would absolutely EAT her in a trick competition lmao 😂

* I also have ideas for 2 playable characters that’ll eventually be Kanaaq’s girlfriends but I gotta focus on the main cast first lol.

Iris

* Foxolotl brought her to life cus her fungal colony was solely responsible for saving a dying tree from decay and deforesters. She’s like 2 years old.

* Her magical girl transformation turns her into the guy, she’s normally just a mushroom. When she isn’t in her person form she lives on a tree outside of Rumblebella’s house :)

Bea

* Very successful manager for a restaurant franchise based on her parents restaurant.

* Despite both of her parents being chefs she can’t cook for shit!! She had tried to learn so many times and it just does not work. Only thing she can really make is cereal and she’s on thin fucking ice with that.

* Her wish was to have fans as weapons, like Katana from mortal kombat. Foxolotl gravely misinterpreted this!! And that is why she has a box fan. Bea is still mad at him for this.

* Huuuuuge fuckin dork. Reads a lot of comics, loves super hero movies, plays a lot of fighting games. Mains Anji in guilty gear.

Gwen

* Works for the coast guard (I imagine they all live in a coastal town in California) and got her wish (and most of her scars) from saving her crewmate from a shark when he fell overboard during a storm.

* She actually wore an eyepatch for a long time before the pirate look because she has strabismus in her left eye and has always been self conscious about it.

Montero

* He is an actual, rootin tootin cowboy. Small town sherif with his own ranch and everything 😂

* Killed his former best friend in a standoff after a series of events led her to becoming corrupted and evil. He still feels terrible about it.

Rumblebella

* Rumblebella was originally a toy owned by a young girl who experienced physical abuse at the hands of her father. Foxolotl brought Rumblebella to life to BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THAT GUY and it worked and he’s gone. Toy story brought to its logical conclusion.

* In lieu of legs, she can float!

* Can eat food and it scares everyone. Where does it go 👁👁

Lucy

* Got her wish after saving a guy from getting crushed under a huge weight while working out without a spot at the gym. Afterwards her wish was to “be able to fall asleep instantly and always wake up feeling rested.” She was ripped before the wish lmao these things are unrelated.

Kasomar

* Personally asked Foxolotl to make them a magical girl so they could experience what it was like to be human. This was kinda a stretch for Foxolotl’s abilities so best he could do was compress them into a weird-stretched human body. Kasomar experiences all time at once’s like Dr. Manhattan, but despite this is still able to make meaningful friendships.

* CAN ALSO EAT FOOD DESPITE NOT HAVING A MOUTH FOXOLOTL DOESNT EVEN KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED

Dahlia

* Dahlia died in the mid 1800’s around the time of the civil war. Her family owned slaves and her moral opposition to this eventually led to her helping the family on her estate escape and then got her killed by her family’s guardsmen. Foxolotl was impressed with her bravery and decided to revive her as a magical girl but fucked up SO SEVERELY that her spirit and body were separated in the process.

* Dahlia is actually the first zombie like ever??? Ghosts exist in this world but zombies don’t. Not too many necromancers out there lol

* To differentiate who they’re talking about the gang has taking to calling the two of them Zahlia (zombie Dahlia) and Ghalia (ghost Dahlia). Ghalia does not like this

* Oops! Catholic guilt!

Carrie

* Takes up a bunch of minimum wage and odd jobs to support herself so she can spend more time pursuing her hobbies. She doesn’t have any great career aspirations. June is slightly disappointed in this but doesn’t say anything about it.

* Was raised by a single mother and thinks that Tony Hawk is her biological father. She does not know that Tony Hawk is a human.

Foxolotl

* He has a mom! I drew my mom a Mother’s Day card with Foxolotl and his mom on it so I’m deciding Mamalotl is canon lol.

* Where did he come from?? What’s his purpose?? We may never know!! He is very bad at it though, whatever it is.

* He’s kind of a god? But like a low level god. Kasomar held more power than him pre-transformation. Like god and Zeus and whatever are legendary Pokémon and Foxolotl is a mythical Pokémon lmao 😂

Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming

Rockstar Games calls it “The next Grand Theft Auto” and will release the first trailer in December.

Some big GTA 6 leaks in 2022, including video clips, revealed a lot about the game. It appears to be set in Vice City in modern times (after GTA 5) and will have two protagonists to switch between, a man and a woman.

After that, anyone can guess, and we love guessing. There are 8 GTA 6 features we want.

They have enjoyed GTA Online for years, but he will wonder what it would be like without the mess. The multiplayer branch of GTA 5 exceeded Rockstar’s initial goals, and it shows every time you log in.

Different actions are tied to different menus depending on whether they were envisioned when the game was first made or added later. The inconsistent reward structures of different releases make older content feel unrewarding and unwanted. Groups are forced into weird ad-hoc corporations, which must be swapped out during the session if your friends want to be rewarded for their business investments.

Rockstar has a chance with GTA 6 to create an online mode worthy of GTA Online’s popularity and systems and structures that can support an evolving world. GTA Online could have been amazing, but it allowed for great moments around garbage mountains. If Rockstar fixes the infrastructure, GTA 6’s multiplayer could be unstoppable.

A strong female protagonist

Lucia appears to be one of GTA 6’s protagonists, based on leaks from last year. Even before the leaks, this seemed like a safe request for Rockstar’s next mega game. she want more than bare minimum an interesting woman who holds her own in the story and contributes to GTA’s satire of American culture without being the butt.

Maintain stereotypes. If Lucia is Latina, as rumored, she shouldn’t be femme fatale. If she’s bilingual, let Rockstar hire bilingual writers so she sounds like a person, not a sitcom.

Features Producer Mollie Taylor: After years of playing GTA Online as a woman, he want a strong, well-written female protagonist in the next mainline game. They love beating guys as her biker gal OC, and he think GTA 6 needs a badass woman. he want the ensemble cast trend to continue with a strong, smart woman who terrifies the other playable characters.

People say a female protagonist wouldn’t fit in with Rockstar’s universe, but that’s nonsense. Women can be criminals and gang leaders. Now give.

Mod support official

GTA has always been heavily modified, but the steps modders have to take to create them and the challenges players face when trying to run them are absurd when official mod support would make it so much easier.

The top GTA Online streams on Twitch are always heavily modded roleplay servers. Why not give streamers and fans a big set of modding tools since players and viewers love them? However, Rockstar tolerates mods (Take-Two does not), but tolerance is not support. When GTA 6 launches, she will hope their mod philosophy changes.

Those who enjoy non-violent activities enjoyed Red Dead Redemption 2’s sometimes irritating focus on treating Arthur Morgan as a human. Even though my Arthur kept saying “heeeey miSTER” too often, pulling left trigger to bark a few basic greetings at people going about their day was a good way to give a Rockstar protagonist some verbs other than run and shoot.

They enjoyed making bullets and polishing Arthur’s revolvers on long horseback rides. Grand Theft Auto could use more world interaction like this, and GTA Online’s roleplay servers show that players like mixing mundane tasks into chaos murder games.

She don’t mind the occasional five-star police escape, but she would like more non-violent activities in our next coastal city. Rockstar learned this in GTA Online. Creating a wardrobe or custom cars is a major draw. Rockstar added an official car meet mode last year (which players farm for XP). she had fun playing GTA5’s triathlons and golf courses, but GTA 6’s life sim would be better with work and leisure.

Euphoria-like NPC interactions

GTA 4, a technical leap from GTA: San Andreas, started the modern Grand Theft Auto. Rockstar North heavily featured Euphoria, a third-party physics technology, and made the world’s NPCs react more’realistically’ to events. Driving slowly near pedestrians who put their hands on the bonnet (and sometimes floor it and cackle) still thrills me.

Since Rockstar’s NPCs are still the best, Grand Theft Auto 6 must change how we view them. Video games still repeat, use inappropriate lines, and ignore the world’s atmosphere and your character’s actions.

A simple woman with a customized apartment worth billions. He like building. Build things in the Sims. Building in Valheim, Minecraft, and any game that lets me. He fight to unlock tat and trophies for that space.

GTA Online and Red Dead Online give players limited control over their space through themes they can buy and apply to their properties. If they are making the biggest and best GTA 6, they want to design and tweak properties in its online and singleplayer modes.
