Last year, I built a website specially for Bobby's birthday and encouraged people to write something on the birthday message board, if you're interested, this is the link.
This year, I prepared something more huge...? In a way it requires more work (and money) on my part yet honestly I have no idea if anyone is eager to join but I've been planning to do this for a long time, so here it is.

ROUND 5 MATCH 3
Tumblr media
Elliott propaganda:
“Just look at him. Pure hunk energy.”
“I will punch anyone who dislikes him. He’s like a fire emblem character in the modern day. He’s so flamboyant and handsome, he can play the piano and he’s best friends with the old fishing man!”
“dramatic writer man with sexy hair”
"Since I like elliott. I will state some reasons why I like him
Imagine if Mr. Darcy didn’t insult your family first time you met him, that’s Elliott. The man who’s basically the hallmark romance love interest. He’s a writer who moves to the small town in the country side to find inspiration for his writing. Then he finds the farmer.
He has a crab living in his pocket
He can play the piano (hopefully it isn’t the river flows in you however)
His fans sometimes hc him as a merman and that’s just a major plus IMO
He genre of the book he writes is dependent on what genre you say you like.
He also sends letters to you if you marry him
Okay and also some things I dislike
His liked gifts, the easiest one is pomegranates, which cost like 6000g to grow a tree if you don’t pick the fruit cave. I AM NOT GETTING SQUID INK IN YEAR ONE FOR YOU.
he might be British /j
The fact he has no kitchen but still likes food like lobster, like he is just a mystery. Lives in a cabin, with no kitchen, no washroom (okay no character has a washroom), but still likes the most fancy food out there and has luscious hair worthy of a L’Oréal ad.
Gifting him on rainy days when you don’t have two hearts"
Dimitri propaganda:
“He's chivalrous, he's blood thirsty, all rolled up into one package and calling you "his beloved". Get you a man who can do both.”
“My husband <3 He's schizophrenic just like me and I love him for that.”
"First, look at him. No disrespect to the monster lovers, but even if blonde, blue-eyed hunks aren't your thing, you can't deny that Dimitri is very pretty.
Second, one of the things I love most about Dimitri is how self aware he is of his privilege as a prince (or king) and how seriously he treats the gravity of his position. He has a strong sense of duty and wants to be a good leader who listens to and provides for the needs of all of his people. This includes the citizens of Duscur, who were nearly wiped out by his own countrymen in (mistaken) retaliation for his father's murder. His commitment to righting this wrong is one of his primary goals in life.
Third, while he is more than capable of crushing a man's skull with his bare hands, under normal circumstances he absolutely wouldn't. A large part of the reason why his fall is so shocking and devastating to witness is because by the time he snaps, we know that Dimitri is actually a kind and gentle soul who hates violence and understands that even his enemies are human. Even at his worst point he still recognizes this, which feeds into his extreme self loathing. He extends compassion and forgiveness to others but struggles mightily to allow himself any forbearance for his own mistakes. He's kind quite literally to a fault, as his empathy is both his greatest strength AND his biggest flaw and I find that as heartwarming as it is heartbreaking."
"Okay first for all the "he needs therapy haha funny" (and its annoying corollary "I can fix him") comments, 1) don't we all? And 2) you can't romance him til end game when he is in a much healthier place due to his own choice to change his priorities and the support of you and his friends. He battles daily with severe mental illness in a repressed society that doesn't talk about it. And on multiple occasions tells people that it is okay to feel your feelings and offers support despite his own struggles (I include that bc that is a date able trait to me). If he's not your fave that's cool, but leave the ableist language out of it pretty please 💙💙 Okay reasons he should be your boyfriend now!!
He calls you his beloved and wants to hold your hand 🥺
His happiest moments in game are when you smile
And in conclusion, he is shaped like a dorito and has a huge cloak to snuggle you up in"

hey!!! this is less of an ask and more of a fic rec tbh 😭 but have you read 'I May be Invisible, but I Still Look Good" by Dandy over on Ao3???? It's after the movie AND Leo-centric and like he gets cursed so his spirit is ripped out of his body. It's like 125k words of wonderful storytelling
OH- but for an actual question, do you have and fic recs?? or any AU's you think people should go check out?
I tried answering this before and it erased my reply orz
ANYWAY YES I HAVE read this and I absolutely love it with every fiber of my being.❤️ 100% one of my top fics to read in this fandom that I even go back to for a reread more than once. The characters are perfectly done and the set up for the story is believable with a fantastic payoff, highly highly highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t read it yet.❤️
As for recs, I’ve always been terrible at giving recs since my memory is very bad especially for ones I haven’t read in a while.😭 Off the top of my head I can recommend (note these are practically entirely Leo-centric since he’s my special guy you understand (the others aren’t forgotten at all though!!!) - and most of these are very very well known so you’ve likely already read them…):
[Note many of these are unfinished and may remain that way - please no one harass the writers for more, let them write at their own pace if they choose to write at all]
- The Neon Void by sugarpastels is absolutely incredible, the dramatic irony of it all as we follow Leo in the state he’s in and see just how broken all the Hamatos are by his “death” is just 👌👌👌 The fact that this places with one of my favorite tropes aka “Leo being in the Prison Dimension longer than canon” is just so good. Genuinely a thoroughly gripping tale that I highly recommend. It’s not complete yet (a lot of this list isn’t) but what is there is so amazing please read (though you most likely have read it already haha)
- little kid with a big death wish and firefight by remrose are another two you’ve likely seen but by god are they worth the read. Firefight isn’t done yet but it and death wish are so amazingly well written and really go into how trauma affects people differently and how ties with family can be tested in traumatic situations. Hard subjects definitely but very maturely done. (Also I misread firefight as firelight for way too long before I realized it-)
- Power Up and Times Five by pickedcarrotsandradish are both unfinished but I can’t care because what we were given is so good that I’m fine with them as they are. Both deal with Leo’s insecurities and bad feelings about himself and, very importantly, the fics go into how these insecurities establish a base for Leo’s very real flaws and how those flaws push him to act the way he does. Very interesting and compelling stuff here!! Power Up especially does really cool things for the boys’ mystic power ups, especially Leo’s, and I loved reading about the ins and outs of what they could do.
- Race Against Life, Death, and the EPF by Cass_Phoenix is just so engaging to read??? Like I love the entire set up for it - it’s feels so fresh and like you’re in Leo’s desperate situation yourself. I was so excited whenever a new chapter came out because the atmosphere was so well done.
- A Mixed Bag by GreatlyBlessed is SHOCKINGLY not Leo-centric for once haha. It’s not completed, but again, like the others above it is so good that I recommend it anyway. This story is actually a crossover between four sets of TMNT (‘87, ‘03, ‘12, and Rise) and the dynamics set up in it are SO fun I love it. Team 2 is my fave because you have literally all my faves on that team how could I not?? I also highly appreciate that everyone gets a chance to shine and that there’s no bashing at all, they’re all just very much in character and it’s refreshing to read ❤️❤️❤️
There’s a LOAD more that I could recommend I’m sure but I don’t remember them off the top of my head at the moment.😭 If I remember I’ll come back and add them in!
(Forgot about AU’s- honestly there’s some that I see and catch up on when I see them but there’s just so many that it’s a bit difficult to keep track of sometimes! I’d have to go around and fully look through many before having a solid answer haha! The ones I do see are always so well done though, I may come back and add them here if I remember 😅)

thank you for your reply!! i hope it's okay to send you an ask instead so i don't impose on that other post any further haha. but you know what, i never even saw it that way "they're also using it to try to make black women (and ESP black teen girls, who are uniquely vulnerable and socially isolated) feel explicitly invited in." because this is so true, i observed it. there are a lot of younger black girls who get caught up in the online-discussions about "attraction" as it relates to black women and it's brutal. the attacks come from all sides, within the community from black men and women alike, from racist white people, from other women (regardless of ethnicity) so i get that instead of realizing this is racism and ignoring or defining their own black womanhood instead of letting it be defined for them, they understandably look to distance themselves from it entirely. it's traumatizing. and then you have the idea of non-binary with a community of people already there just waiting for you and go for it. you absolutely have a point.
for me personally i think i just realized the amount of misogynist stuff i have to swallow and accept to identify as nb + the idea that i'm supposed to internalize the racist actions of others as some kind of personal flaw didn't sit well with me. it also plays into this idea that many women are groomed into, that if there is something wrong, it's internal and YOU have to fix yourself. not the outside world might need to change to accommodate you as a woman, you have to cease being a woman since you don't fit some misogynistic racist patriarchal ideal. i know there were black women who claimed that people didn't "read them as women" because they never held doors open for them or helped them with their luggage and thus they concluded they were not women. and i just couldn't accept that, why give up control and agency like that? (not to mention people do these things for me and i'm dark brown and live in lily-white europe, like? it says nothing about you as a woman at all.)
and about your addition on tifs and blocklists, you know it's funny. tumblr is full of altright and super racist blogs, there is a corner of tumblr like that. i have never once seen people on this side of tumblr (political or just random blogs) make blocklists for those blogs. because it's not needed because anyone who finds that content knows to block it or just stay away. it's universally bad and easily identifiable. for radfem and rad leaning (etc...) blogs however, this doesn't apply. the posts are simply about womanhood and female reality and it rings true for many if they take their time to read them. and effectiveness lies in their truth, so they need to be blocked.
ngl this made me cry
of course it's okay to send me an ask! or dm, or anything! please please know you aren't imposing if you were to add this to the post - and the "haha" honestly stung because it just (and I already know I'm not gonna be able to put this into words the way I'd like to rn), it's female socialization, yk? and I won't begin to try to imagine what that's like when you factor in antiblackness and specifically misogynoir, but I make it a point to call this out because SO many asks I get start with an apology for existing, for reaching out to me. and it hurts, it enrages me that this world has taught its women & girls to do this, to feel this way. I LOVE getting asks and messages from you gyns, truly. it's my favorite. what you wrote here is so meaningful and raw and important, and I honestly think every word of it belongs on that post. you have a right, every right, and you deserve, to speak and be heard. truly heard. you have every right to reach out and make connections and build sisterhood. please do.
I would love for you to add this to the post, and I'd be honored to reblog it and boost YOUR voice fr. I'm honored you wanted to talk to me about this ❤️
btw, your url is just flawless

I agree with you and your anons about it being a problem how Sam resorts to manipulation to get her way on even really petty issues, and how it's especially annoying because she happens to have the most accommodating husband on the planet, so why not just TALK to him lol?! So this is not an excuse, but an explanation - I think Sam's Mom (the episode and the person, haha) showed us so much about why Sam is so desperate to get her way and ultimately prove herself. She comes from a very achievement-oriented family who made Sam feel like she was never good enough. Even when things are going well, her mom criticizes her for not being even better. So Sam is always striving, always trying too hard and caring about crap that doesn't even matter because she's so eager for wins---any wins! It's how her mom measured Sam's worth and therefore how Sam now measures herself. As many of us know, in some ways you never outgrow seeking approval and validation from your parents even (sometimes especially) if those parents are no longer alive!
She was also taught to please people and get along with others, so she's loath to confront even someone as receptive as Jay about a lot of issues and directly ask for what she wants. Instead, she resorts to a certain amount of deceit and manipulation. She doesn't outright state she doesn't want to play D and D with Jay, for example, because that might hurt his feelings and/or lead to conflict, so instead she lies about it and tries to take the easy way out. I'm not defending Sam, but I do almost always understand her motivations even when she's at her worst.
I also feel like it's important to point out that Sam is a really kind, compassionate and giving person overall! When it comes down to it, Sam almost always sacrifices her own 'wins', plans, hopes etc for the ghosts' happiness. (Tbh, she seems more considerate of their needs than her own husband's a lot of the time, but Jay is a heck of a lot sweeter and more accommodating than most of the ghosts, so he's less apt to freak out when he doesn't get his way!) Anyway, Sam IS a really good person--she's just a neurotic, achievement-oriented people pleaser, which are flaws that can be annoying but are pretty relatable imo :)
Oh for sure! I have a lot of Sam's traits (especially the neurotic, overachieving, people pleasing part) so I really relate to her, and I think that a lot of the things that she does, I would do, at least once, even if I did have a husband like Jay (or maybe *because* I had a nice husband like Jay and didn't want to be a disappointment).
Good point about her mom's judgment too. Even though Sheryl pushed with the intent of wanting good for her daughter, you know, she didn't actually listen to what Sam wanted. She didn't she didn't accept Sam saying "I'm at an okay spot in my life and I'm happy doing this thing." So Sam felt she had to lie to make her mom happy.
Now, we all know that Jay is not Sheryl at all, but I can still understand, if you add her into the neurotic Sam puzzle, why Sam feels she can't even talk to the nicest guy in the world who is her husband: because there's still the risk of disappointment. There's still the risk of making Jay unhappy. She's so worried about that that the fact that him finding out she wants a change could lead to compromise for them both doesn't even cross her mind.
But I really think she needs to start taking risks when it comes to possibly making Jay unhappy if she wants something different than him, so they can both try and compromise, because this sneaking behind his back to get her own way and being all passive aggressive and stuff (especially when she and Jay are such naturally nice people) makes things worse more than it makes them better.

Meet-Cute
(teehee, wil and melina belong to @dirgelwch!!)
Wilmar Roheir was probably the worst person you could have picked to investigate this case. This is not said as a detriment, but as a disclaimer. He was excellent at reading people. He was good with hard, physical evidence. His mind was as sharp as it ever was in connecting dots and finding patterns. But his damning flaw would be his lack of experience with technology. The key strings and pieces that tied together each of Tyler’s victims were purely digital. The pattern in the victims was clear. They were all jadeblood women, aged 20-25. They had similar horns, facial features, sometimes even clothes. They were all unarmed, killed by gunfire. His first guess would be some kind of psychosocial obsession with replicating perhaps the first victim. The pathos was the easy part to understand. How the killer found them?
Er, He had no idea.
The deaths weren’t pinned down by any one location. The killer traveled long distances sporadically. There was no physical trail of evidence, no repeated character or place in any of their lives. They came from different caverns, towns, backgrounds. Their homes were never broken into, the front door left open as if inexplicably, each and every single woman let the killer in. Several even had more robust security systems that were deactivated seemingly by administrator. Perhaps the killer had some kind of voodoos that made them pliant, or allowed him to track them down all across the country.
But maybe he didn’t need to know that. Maybe he didn’t need to understand the complex digital web Oswell had enclosed around Alternia. Maybe all he needed to know was the pattern, because it was predictable, because it was concise and never varied. Because just maybe, he could find a troll that fit the exact profile before the killer did, and simply cozy down in a stakeout and wait. It was something he had put on the backburner. The private investigator worked several cases at once, and the time consuming work of looking through records for a jade with a similar horn shape was something he’d sometimes just knock out 30-45 minutes of at the end of a long day.
It had only been last week he had found one. A librarian, a two to three hour drive from here. He had made the trip, and had the difficult conversation with her that he suspected she might soon be targeted by a murderer. He had given her his contact information, and told her to call if she saw ‘anything suspicious. Anything suspicious at all’. Monday through Thursday, radio silence. Friday morning, the woman had rung him up to tell him she had gotten a strange text, threatening her with blackmail and demanding to meet up in person. Incredible, that it had happened so fast. He wasn’t sure if he could call it lucky or unlucky. Just a little chilling. Had he been even just a week later, this lady could have died.
The blackmail explained their willingness to meet with the killer, at least a little. He buckled up and made the long drive down to this woman’s hive again. The trap that could be laid from there was idiot proof. Agreeing to meet with the killer, Wilmar could hide in a nearby closet or something, and simply pop out once the troll was in sight and subdue him. He sat down at the kitchen table, and with the woman drafted and sent a willing response. The dots on the other side of the screen danced for a moment, disappearing, and appearing again.
[Haha okay] the killer says. [Just one question! I noticed you made a phone call at 10:21 earlier tonight :> Wondering what that was about <3]
Wil stared down at the phone. Wondering how the hell they knew what kind of calls she was making.
[was talking with my hive cleaners] he answers.
[Wowwwww that's funny because I ran a search on the number and it actually pops up for a private investigator firm. The economy truly is in shambles if you’ve got detectives vacuuming your rugs.]
[Irenie, do you pretty please promise, that when I show up at your hive you wont send out some kind of guy with a gun in a wig, right? Like you’re not that stupid. And neither am I. And I would kill you and leak your sensitive images anyways.]
“What’s he saying?” Asks the concerned Irenie to him from across the room, and he sighs, squinting at the phone keyboard. Not wanting to scare her.
“More threats.” Wilmar answers, and that's not a complete lie, is it?
“Are you sure this is safe?” She asks.
“I’ll be right here the whole time.” He answers, trying to compose another text.
[I promise]
Simple and to the point.
[And I’m just supposed to take you at your word?] The killer answers.
[you asked.]
[More as a demeaning hypothetical to illustrate my knowledge more than anything.]
[it's only been a few hours. You really think a detective was able to make the trip all the way down here for a minor blackmailing threat? Those assholes didn’t send me anybody.]
[They’re still gonna be poking around once things are over.]
[when things are ‘over’?] He answers. Two can play at the game of catching someone one out. The typing bubble appears again, and then disappears.
[Yes, when our meeting is over. You’re gonna call them again.] He responds, barely skipping a beat.
[can’t we just talk this out, like civil trolls? I don’t even know you. Why are you doing this to me]
[I need something from you. It will only take a second.]
[then get over here already] he pleads. [Whatever you want, you can have it. Don’t leak my images.]
[If there's a detective there you’re both dead, do you understand?]
[I understand. It’s just me. I won’t call them again.]
The bubble appears, and disappears again.
[okay.] The killer says, finally. [see you.]
Wilmar sets down the phone, pushing up his glasses, barely able to believe that worked. And then passively scolds himself for celebrating so early. The troll could still not show. But judging from how the killer had spoken, he seemed to be missing a key part of the puzzle, that he was already working with Irenie prior to the call this morning.
The good thing about not working digitally, is that things like Wilmars initial drive out and verbal conversation with the woman months were invisible to him. No phone record. Perhaps the story he had spun about the agency not being able to send someone out this early and quickly seemed reasonable to Tyler.
.
.
.
.
.
He was not sure what he expected when he climbed in between Irenie’s sweater, squeezing himself just barely into a closet in her living room. He left the door ever so slightly ajar, not wanting to break the woman's doorknob by kicking it out, lifted his pistol close to his chest, and hunkered down.
“Can you see me?” He calls out.
“No,” Irenie answers, wringing her hands. “You’re a big guy tho, it can’t be comfortable.”
“I’ll manage.”
“Are you sure you don’t want snacks, or anything?” She says.
Wilmar pauses, blinking incredulously. Of course not. He needed his hands free, and the killer would be showing up in only about ten minutes. But he should not be harsh. People say all kinds of silly things when they’re scared.
“I’m fine.” He answers. “But thank you.”
The jadeblood paces back and forth, and Wil stares at the wooden grain of the door.
The previous victims had not been large, but there often seemed to be some kind of struggle. Judging by the autopsies, the killer was not that skilled a shot, seeming to rely on being the only one with a gun and just shooting it repeatedly. Best case scenario, he manages to quickly disarm him. He wasn’t expecting a huge troll here. Trolls who kill for pleasure usually only use guns if they have no other choice, if they don't have a physical advantage that would allow them to overpower and spend more time with the victim. His first guess had been that the Killer was some kind of jade, or highblood government official, who would have access to a vast amount of records that would lead him into finding these women. He had guessed he was small.
But, glancing as the troll walks in, he had not thought he would be that small, that sickly looking. Ding Ding for highblood, though, he thinks, catching a glimpse of what sure appears to be fuschia eyes through the crack of the door. The guy has a gun in one hand, and a photograph in the other.
“Hi” Tyler says, and bizarrely, holds the photograph up seemingly to compare it with the victim's face.
He could ponder the implications of this later. The troll was distracted. This was his moment. Wil slams open the door, and fires a shot out the window, having a triple purpose both to distract, scare, and warn the attacker. Tyler jumps, and then he just rushes him, hands closing down on the man’s weapon, and after a moment's struggle, wriggling it out of his grasp. He was small, but he was definitely spirited, scratching and biting and letting out several anguished noises.
“Hey” Wil says sternly. He had two guns, what did this guy think he was accomplishing here? He winces as the guy’s nails dig into him, and resolves to just reach over, and grab the serial killer by the scruff of his hoodie, lifting him up like a disobedient kitten, and holding him just out of reach.
“Hey” He repeats, a little more loudly.
“Kill him!!” Irenie exclaims suddenly in a random twist of vengefulness.
“Calm down,” Wilmar says. “Both of you. He’s disarmed.”
The woman stares for a moment, rouses, before smoothing out her dress.
“Sorry.” She says flatly. “Got carried away.”
“I will make your life hell,” Tyler says. “I will send every nsfw text you’ve ever sent to your employer if you don’t set me down right now. You have no idea who you’re messing with. I could destroy you with the click of a button!”
“N-s-f-w?” Wilmar answers, completely sidestepping this threat by a simple way of not understanding acronyms.
“If you kill or arrest me” He says. “You and everyone you love will regret it until the day you die.” Tyler threatens, having another fit of trying to attack him and failing.
“Uh huh” Wilmar answers, unphased. “Shaking in my boots.”
He turns back to Irenie.
“I’m gonna head back to the office” He says, tilting his head at the redhead. “I’ll keep you updated.”
The little guy continues to try punching him, maybe even landing an odd blow but not having a lot of force behind them. Eventually, Wil wants this to not be his problem anymore enough that he grabs the man’s arms, flipping him over and handcuffing them behind his back. He’s smaller than him, but this still requires a little bit of force. Suddenly, he squints, glancing down at a spot on the troll's wrist where, for the lack of a better word, the color of the troll's skin has smudged ever so slightly, like a well set foundation.
He is baffled for only half a second, but unfortunately for Tyler, he has already met one of his kind before. This case only gets more confusing as it goes. The last thing on Alternia he expected was a human serial killer. Against his will, enough of a vague sense of pity encapsulates him that he decides not to inform Irenie of this discovery.
“Are you gonna kill him there?” Irenie asks.
“We’ll figure it out once we get there,” Wilmar answers.
Tyler suddenly pauses his wriggling.
“My photograph!” The alien insists suddenly. “Grab my photograph! I won’t leave without it!” He says, as if he still has any kind of choice in the matter.
Irenie, possessed by curiosity, starts to walk over towards where the thing had dropped on the floor.
“Stay back bitch!” The human insists, kicking his legs in the way, trying to drag the polaroid back near him with his feet to varying degrees of success.
“I got it,” Wilmar says, leaning down to pick up the thing.
In the half a second he does not have a hand on him, Tyler immediately sprints for the door, only to be tripped by Irenie putting out her leg to trip him. Wil sighs.
“Are you gonna be like this the whole way?” He says, pocketing the photograph. Tyler does not answer, only glaring daggers with his vibrant, sunken eyes, and Wil picks him up off the floor and throws him over his shoulder. It was probably going to be a long two and half hour drive.
.
.
.
.
.
By the time they got to the office, the murderer had changed his tune. In an almost ridiculous one eighty, Tyler had turned into a picture of politeness and kind hearted restraint perhaps in the hopes of sucking up enough to get out of this whole thing. He could easily tell he was lying with his pssionics, but he might not have needed them even with how the human was acting. Chronically online was not a term that was in Wilmar’s vocabulary nor sphere of reference, but he was able to surmise that the man’s social skills were sorely lacking.
“Mr. Detective” Tyler says, as he had suddenly taken to calling him mid car ride. “This is all a big misunderstanding.”
“How so?” He says, flipping through his desk for the paperwork he needed to finish filing this case.
“You hunt murderers- that's the same thing I do! We’re on the same side, really.” Oswell insists, tilting his head.
Suddenly, Wilmar pauses. Confusingly, the alien appeared to be telling the truth, or at the very least, he believed he was telling the truth.
“What did 30-40 unrelated jadeblood women ever do to you?” He asks.
“They- Mr Detective, one of them killed someone close to me. I’m just trying to figure out who.”
Wil pulls the photo out of his pocket, the pieces sliding together, Tyler freezes as he stares down at the picture. Perhaps the human had just recalled his very not troll mother was clearly in frame.
“This lady?” Wilmar says, pointing at Taylor,  taking the whole alien thing so nonchalantly it confused him. There is a long pause before he answers.
“Yes,” Tyler says slowly.
“So you’re looking for this woman” He says. “Trying to find this murderer, and just… killing every single woman with a vague resemblance to her just in case?”
The Alien does not answer.
“I am sorry to break it to you,” Wilmar says. “But that is not even remotely close to anything I do as a detective.”
“Not even a little bit?”
The cerulean cusp sighs, touching the bridge of his nose, trying to think of how to handle this. He couldn’t give him over to law enforcement, he’d immediately be culled. But he couldn’t just let him run around massacring people either. He continues to shuffle through his papers, thinking.
“Okay” He says, straightening a pile of reports by taping it on the desk. “How about this? I let you go, you stop murdering people, and I take on this case and find this woman’s killer for you.”
Perhaps forgetting he was supposed to be being charismatic and demure, Tyler Oswell laughs out loud.
“Are you deranged?” He says. “Are you stupid? Is it crack that you smoke? I have been looking since I was thirteen years old. I have an entire galactic empire to search and the hunt has consumed me for half a decade. You think you can just FIND the troll that murdered my parents? You think you can just FIND them???” He says. Then, he finally seems to recall he wants to leave this place, and get out of here consequence free.
“I mean,” he says. “You must be very good at your job, Mr. Detective. Sure, that deal seems fair to me.”
Wil squints back at him, and then exhales. “Alright” He says. “I still have some things I need to file regarding this. Wait out front and I’ll be there in just a second.”
.
.
.
.
It does not take long lingering in the lobby for Tyler to figure out he’s being watched. A minor debate happens in his mind on whether or not to turn his head and notify whoever was across the way he had noticed, out of fear of both violence and awkwardness. Eventually, in a series of slow, hopefully natural looking movements, he shifts his sight far enough that direction to notice the other troll in the room.
She was a woman, standing calmly across the way in a long Victorian gown. She had long, platinum white hair that curled where it fell on her collarbone. Wasn’t that an unusual color for trolls? His mind went immediately to his own redheadedness, and then quickly dismissed the comparison as silly, but a misplaced feeling of solidarity did not fade. She was dressed modestly, which he liked. She had a smile that well, could not quite be called serene but there was something distant about it. She was taller than him, by at least four to five inches, and he could not decide whether this upset him or not. With a careful unease, the thought crossed his mind that, between a gender segregated boarding school, and male juvenile detention center on earth, and never leaving his hive on Alternia, Tyler had not really had a lot of chances to have more than passing conversations with women since he was young. His gaze slid away from her to the floor, suddenly frustrated by this.
“Hi,” He says. “Are you the like, secretary?” Coming out swinging with a misplaced sexism that his teachers in Edinburgh would have been proud of but only confused Melina.
“The what?” She answers.
“You know, the lady up front who answers calls and does paperwork” he describes.
For an elongated moment, the troll simply stares at him blankly.
He begins to feel uncomfortable, suddenly. Knowing that this alien did not have the background on complicated gender dynamics of earth to understand that what he said had been demeaning, but inside some hidden part of him he was unwilling to admit, he knew its implications.
“No.” She answers, finally, continuing to flash that smile.
“Sorry” he says nonchalantly. “I haven’t talked to a girl in years.”
“Ah” She answers. “That’s alright.” The troll takes a step or two closer.“My name is Melina,” She says. “What’s your’s, if you’re willing to share?”
Comforted by the familiarity of her politeness, he relaxes a little.
“I’m Tyler Oswell” He says, offering a small half smile. “It’s nice to know some people still have manners” He remarks, as if he himself had not just been asking Wilmar if he smokes crack and threatening to leak his nudes not so long ago.
“I’ve known one of your kind before” She says, regarding him with an intense and possessed curiosity in her eyes.
“You have?” He asks, made only mildly self conscious by it, curious as well.
Suddenly, a darkness flashes across her gaze, as if remembering something unpleasant, or maybe painful.
“Yes” She answers. “I didn’t know there were more of you around” She says, artfully sidestepping a deeper explanation regarding Vinh, the playfulness returning to her gaze. “Why are you handcuffed?”
“Silly reasons” he dismisses, turning his hands in the cuffs. Suddenly, he is taken by a bizarre desire to do something impressive.
“Wanna see a trick I learned in earth juvie?” He says.
“Earth what?” She answers.
He does not answer, instead deciding to put extravagant amounts of effort into trying to shim the cuff’s Wilmar had put on him, and frustratedly not being able to manage it. The more Melina gazed as this bizarre looking behavior with confusion, the more frantic he became, pushing his knuckles together more and more forcefully, until, with a tiny, upsetting little crack, he is able to pull his hands from the cuffs, having severely cut into his index finger.
“Are you alright?” Melina asks.
“I’m fine” he answers, blinking back tears.
She stares at him for a moment.
“I’ll grab a bandage” She says, “The denizens of Earth Juvie do not appear to be as reliable a teacher as you imply them to be.” She says.
“It’s- that barely hurt” he insists. But Melina does not seem to entertain this response, returning with a small bandage anyways. He winced as the purpleblood carefully cleaned and wrapped the wound. She lingered perhaps just a little bit too long at the sight of his bright red, human blood, which upset him.
“Why are you here if you don’t work here? Also under arrest?” He asks.
“No,” She says, with a slight tilt of her head. “I’m friends with one of the detectives.”
“The blue one?” Tyler says.
“Do you mean Wilmar…?” Melina replies, ever so slightly confused.
“Never asked his name” The human replies. “Is he blue?”
“You may not know this, as an alien” Mel answers. “But that’s a strange way to refer to someone's blood color. Blue encompasses several castes.”
Yes or no question! He wants to retort. But in a remarkable show of restraint and slightly condescending ‘respect’ for women, an earth specialty that regarded the other gender as much too fragile for such things, he does not.
“Sorry.” He says. “I couldn’t tell which.”
“My friend is an indigo cerulean cusp,” She says.
“That would explain it.” He says, slightly unhappy she was close with the man, Tyler did not have any real fondness for him.
“Have you been on Alternia long?” She asks. “How are you finding it?”
“Pshh” He mutters. “Not very long” he lies. It has been five years. But he doesn’t want to tell her that, because it would make his cultural blunders harder to justify.
“I could show you around,” She says. “If you’d like.” And then she pauses. “Perhaps also help you with a better disguise” She says.
It’s not the first time someone had told him that, but the way she quietly sidesteps outright remarking on his stupidity pleases him. He glances back at Wilmar’s office.
“I don’t know how long this will take.” he says, lifting up his left hand and glancing at the one cuff still attached, the other swinging below it. He pauses. Contemplating just dipping from here as he had many times attempted to do earlier. But, he did not feel altogether mentally prepared for an outing the likes of which Melina had described. It felt like the kind of thing he needed at least a day to convince himself to do at least.
“Could I have your number?” He asks, pulling out his phone. “And maybe we could meet up some other time?”
“Sure,” Melina says, taking out her phone as well to recite it to the strange little man.
Tyler Oswell constructed the first non-murder victim phone contact he had made in years, writing down Melina’s name and number. The conversation was more friendly and curious than everything, but by the time made it home for the day he had already retroactively decided and imagined he had been quite suave.

Hello! Idk if you are still faking asks but of so thank you in advance if this gets answered!
I'm not gonna lie, it's a bit disturbing how the majority is cheering on Rex and the side he's taken. Though that side might have some points, I just can not see them as people I'd like to ever support or think they are doing it with good intentions in mind. But anyway, I apologize if I just can't understand or root for this gang. I know things aren't black or white but i just see more bad than good. And I hope that's ok.
The only think I dint understand and kind of made me not like Rex so much anymore is that when he is fighting Desmond he mentions something along the lines of "you already met my scyon" and that just raised more questions for me. One of the mane reasons Rex felt hurt and betrayed and thought it was all Desmon and Lys's fault for "betraying him" was because he couldn't under why they would turn on him (it was when he still didn't know about the other part of himself). But now he knows, he knows its the Scyon that hurt and attacked them. Hence why they had such a reaction. I've seen people stating that yes, Rex was betrayed! And I just...I don't see it at all especially when the og gang had every right to react the way they did.
This monnet kind of just made me distance myself from Rex I guess. Because he knew the scyon was the one to hurt the gang, the reason why they reacted the way they did and yet that does nothing for him. I don't think this is bad writing, nit even the slightest. Cause I know some people in real life would have such a reaction. We are flawed beings and some weren't thought or leaned how act to know their actions or way of thinking is flawed etc or self centered. It's a process everyone can go threw in different ways. So I hope maybe Rex one day can learn more as he goes.
But yeah, was there something behind the scenes we didn't see for Rex to not even question that the Scyon hurt Desmond or for him to not even care about that fact?
I still love the comic a lot and its one of 2 other webtoons I follow religiously and have given money for passes! The art and world building I feel like is really good and has made me so inspired to make a fan art and fic for this world (I'm just too afraid and shy to share I guess but I'd love to one day!).
I hope you have a good day and I apologize for any speaking or grammar mistakes I've made. English isn't my first language and I'm also dyslexic 😅
Tbh, I think the only people who are 100% wrong are the ones who think one side is 100% right.
Like you said, the situation isn't black and white (heck, it's even one of the major themes of the story), and both sides have points and flaws, some bigger than others. I know people are having fun cheering for Rex's "corruption arc" (I even love to tease about it), but that's exactly what it is- a corruption arc.
Rex has points and fair criticism, but it's important to also remember the environment he's in. He's Blan Corp's prized pig that they need to keep happy until they get that memory. Other than Bag Girl, Rex is basically surrounded in an echo chamber of yes-men. So no, you didn't really miss anything. Rex is just currently in an environment where everyone is telling him "Yeah! It WAS abusive of Desmond to make you do all those chores!! What a jerk! >:(" and Rex going "yeah, you're right!! I am the victim here! Tell me more."
He's with the villains now and there is a lot of manipulation* going on.(*Side note: Mostly from Jericho and his Scion, to be clear. You could argue Nia as well, but I kind of maintain that she is just as manipulated and in a kind of equally tough position. Remember, Blan Corp is the ticket to getting her mom back and she's kind of in just as big of an echo chamber of "human bad, blank superior" as Rex)
That said, please don't give up hope on him haha. Rex can get a really sharp tongue when he's pissed (as seen in the latest episode with his encounter with Lyss), but he's still the same Rex at heart. He could never take the steps that Jericho is willing to take, and I... Tried to make that clear in ep 133 with Desmond's criticism of Rex's changes. Desmond asked if he really has it in his (half-human) heart to follow in Jericho's foot steps, and I like to think (most of us) know he doesn't- At least not as far as Jericho. Desmond planted the seed of doubt in ep 133 and I don't intend to just...ignore that seed in my writing of what's coming up.
Tumblr media
TLDR: Yeah! Rex is being a jerk right now after a lot of manipulation, gaslighting, and just all around anxiety. But that's what a corruption arc is. Only time will tell if he starts to realize what a jerk he's being, but I certainly didn't show him hesitating after what Desmond said because it went in one ear and out the other. That's definitely going to be living rent free in the back of his mind for now.

~Immaculate~
-Kai Chisaki smut-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Immaculate- perfectly clean, neat, or tidy.  free from flaws or mistakes; perfect.
Tumblr media
All his life he busied himself with whatever he’d deemed to be essential. Whether it was protecting the Hassaikai’s honor or something as simple as pursuing a constantly tidy environment, he was on it above all else. He’d never taken much time outside of his usual interests to explore anything simple-minded like a relationship. It was nothing but a hassle in his opinion. He’d observed from a distance during his school years as his childhood friend Hari dated person after person. The idea of dedicating his important time to another person that wasn’t Hari or Pops was absurd to him. It became even more ridiculous when he stopped for a moment to consider the filth included in a relationship as well. How close the other person would have to be, how disgusting it was to swap bodily fluids through kissing...not to mention the dread of sex creeping up his spine. Back then just the thought of any interaction such as sexual intercourse made him shudder in disgust. The very day he was pulled aside by Pops to have ‘the talk’ made him not only sick but annoyed as well. He’d solemnly swore to himself he would never get caught up in such pointless endeavors.
And then he’d met you.
There was something different about you indeed. He found himself thinking of you day and night when you’d first decided to pursue a relationship with each other. Through you, he’d learned a multitude of different things when it came to the ins and outs of dating. He found himself acting out of character by attempting romantic interactions like buying you flowers or going out of his way to video chat you before starting work for the day. When he was around you it was as if he suddenly had forgotten all of the confident swagger he usually possessed. He was no longer calm and relaxed but instead clumsy and awkward. It didn’t help in the least bit that you gave him so much distance. He couldn’t blame you as you were just taking precautions to respect him germaphobia. However, he didn’t want you to keep avoiding him like this, so he pushed himself out of his own comfort zone to touch you more. The day you finally saw his face without the mask and his hands without his gloves, he was proud to know he had the affect on you that he did. Soon after you’d moved into the compound with him and Pops. It took a lot of persuading on his part considering you were fairly independent and refused to throw away what you worked to get. To make peace with you, he agreed to move some of your stuff into the house as well. The condition is that you must keep it neat and tidy of course.
After moving into the house you two seemed like an official couple not just to each other but to the others as well. By now you’d both learned a great deal about each other including your flaws and perks. Most importantly, you were able to spend even more time together (which is something Kai had looked forward to more than ever). However, there was something brewing in him that he didn’t quite understand until now. Lately he’d been keeping his eyes on you longer than usual, unable to simply tear them away for just a moment to focus on what he was working on. His touches lingered and he felt as though he was losing his breath around you. When you’d flash him those beautiful smiles he’d come to love, it set a different reaction off in his system. When you walked past him or even simply bent down to pick something up, he found himself staring at your most private areas. His mouth was dry, his head a jumbled mess, his hands begging at a single opportunity to touch you in places he hadn’t ever considered before. It was lust plain and simple. Lust was the reason he felt his skin become hot and prickly. Lust was the reason his dreams were dominated with you severely lacking in clothing. Lust was the reason he could feel blood rush to his cock when he spent far too much time thinking about those plump lips, or how nice that ass of yours would feel between his grip. Lust was to blame for him now standing outside of his father figure’s door and contemplating the embarrassment he was sure he’d feel after this.
He held his fist up at the door but was hesitant to knock. He stared at the wood patterns embellishing the entrance while he silently weighed the pros and cons of entering and confronting Pops. He stood there for a good while until his heart dropped at the sound of the doorknob turning. The old man opened the door and jumped back a bit at the sight of his successor standing there with his fist up in a knocking position. Pops furrowed his brows before standing to the side and silently inviting him in. He took his seat and listened with open ears at Kai expelling every emotion he’d been holding in for the past 3 months. When the boy fell silent Pops smiled and reached into his desk drawer. The old man held his hand out and waited for Kai to accept his offering. Into Chisaki’s hand Pops dropped a single condom. Before the boy had time to react, the old man spoke up. “I’ll be leaving tomorrow for a trip to a local bathhouse as well as a play being put on nearby. I’ll expect you to look after things while I’m gone.” With that piece of information, Pops sent Kai on his way. There was no doubt the old man had been waiting on this day because why else would he have possession of protection? Kai shuddered at the thought but silently thanked God the old man hadn’t chose to embarrass him like usual. Now he waits. He waits and watches as the clock tics down it’s seconds, minutes, hours until the night. He tossed and turned while you slept next to him peacefully unaware of the thoughts he harbored for you. For a while he worried to himself that he would scare you away if he attempted something lewd with you. As far as he can remember, you never given him any hint as to whether or not you were interested in him in such a way. When the time finally came upon him, he kept in mind that rejection was on the table.
So imagine his surprise when you’d suddenly taken the lead.
He was at a loss for words, practically breathless as he watched you strip down slowly in front of him (your little attempt at giving him a show). When you finished teasing him and decided to reveal all of your glorious skin to him, he felt momentarily as though he would faint. Whatever you may think of your body could never surpass the sheer alure he feels toward it. It was overwhelming to say the least, yet he would allow himself to roam along your sides with his bare hands despite the fear of rejection still lingering on the horizon. “Have you ever?” That question barely slipped past your lips while both of your lips danced with each other/ tangling up and creating a hidden bond. The question was something he wasn’t sure how to answer. But when you pulled back to look down at him he saw the way your eyes seemed to be without a single hint of judgement. They only housed love for him, gentle understanding. So he answered your question with full transparency despite his worries. “No...I haven’t.” He turned his head on the plush pillow to stare at the wall. You gently reached down and cupped his face in both hands, slowly and gently turning his head back to look at you. “That’s okay. We can take it slow. Do you trust me, Chisaki?” You stared at him in anticipation. Finally he gulped and nodded his head. “Yes.” A silent agreement between the two of you took place: you would lead the way for his first time. As you began to remove the condom from its foil prison, he felt a mixture of emotions wash over him. Anticipation, worry, fear, curiosity, and most of all lust...he would choose to focus on the latter and watch as you expertly slipped the condom onto his cock. He took note of the procedure while you gripped lightly at him and rolled it from the mushroom tip to the very base. You pinched the top to be sure of no bubbles before turning to look at him one last time. “Please.” His words signaling his consent for the last time. You nodded and positioned yourself above him. As you slowly sunk yourself down on the length of his cock, you took time to count every little delicious inch while simultaneously watching his expression shift into more lewd territory. He let out a big gasp when you finally seated yourself on him. A few seconds to a minute passed while you adjusted to his length. He too was adjusting to the warmth and tightness enveloping him in this moment. His mind was a mess only making out the intense feeling of needing more of you. He tried to remain at semi-composure while holding your sides but when you shifted on him momentarily, he gripped tightly at your plush skin. “Apologies...” he strangled out before quickly shifting his hands onto the blanket at his sides. “You smiled and reached down to grasp his hands before pulling them upward and placing them back along your sides. “Don’t apologize. I like it when you do that. Can I move now?”
“Yes please.” Following his words you began to slowly rock yourself on his. What felt really good to you was more intense for him. He’d never experienced this before and it was highly likely (now that you think about it) that he’d never even touched himself before either. You mentally prepared yourself with the possibility that he wouldn’t last very long if you kept this up. You were moving slow at the moment but he was still losing his mind, his composure unraveling with each movement you blessed him with. His hands now gripping tightly at your side and creating a little discomfort. You’d likely have marks tomorrow but it was okay to you. Right now you watched him bite his bottom lip hard enough to draw some blood. Finally right as you started to move with more haste and bounce yourself on his cock, he opened his mouth up and let loose. It was so reassuring to know Pops was out of the house at the moment and that the other workers were below the base. Otherwise you had no doubt someone would hear him calling out to you and cursing, moaning, groaning, gasping for air while you fucked ever last dropped out of him. “Please...pleeeaase Y/N...please...please fuck~” He gasped and leaned upward just to watch you rising and sinking on his cock repeatedly. Just the sight of it was too much for him. When you’d made eye contact for just a moment, and he saw your eyes glazed over with lust, he’d came for the first time in his life. It didn’t seem to want to stop but luckily it did. He collapsed his head back onto the pillow and watched wearily as you removed yourself from him. He wanted to move but he simply couldn’t find it in himself, still fighting off the lingering pleasure coursing through his veins. You tied the condom up, tossed it in the trash, and cuddled up to his side. “F-filthy. Show-sh-shower...” He tried to find the words but you silenced him by placing a gentle kiss on his lips and then his sweat covered forehead. “Later on. For now, let’s just stay here like this.”
And you did.

Rant away my friend
apparently a few people wanted me to vent about the kirby novels so head in hands ig i'm gonna go for it LMAO (this is inspired directly from @desultory-novice 's posts about it)
ALSO IM SORRY IF THIS IS SO DISORGANIZED gonna be honest i forgot a good half of what i wanted to talk about. But Anyways. please note that all of this is entirely My opinion you ofc dont need to agree and despite everything i actually really love and enjoy the kirby novels a lot !!
so okay after hearing her talk about the reason we're likely not getting a magolor epilogue novel and knowing takase's erm.... Infamous reputation regarding how she handles magolor's character that had me thinking a lot and. Wow i'm kind of Really nervous for how this magoland novel will turn out actually because a lot is kind of at stake here when you think about it
takase will either be forced to actually develop magolor's character, or she will just completely scrap everything that happened earlier, remove any mentions of the epilogue and go straight back to square 1 where magolor is -- once again -- the villain of the story. Don't get me wrong i like evil magolor a lot lol i think if done right it can be a very enjoyable portrayal of his character. but there's only So many times you can make a character the antagonist before it just gets straight up exhausting y'know
i think it's ESPECIALLY different in terms of magoland. This might be a cold take idk lmao but merry magoland isn't just some wacky little theme park magolor created out of the blue for no reason. It's something that signifies and sets in stone how he's a changed character. Merry magoland is magolor's dream he's had for a really long time by his own words and truly shows that all he's wanted to do is make people have fun and be happy. if you make him the antagonist in that, that completely just fucks up Everything relating to his character and renders that entire development null and also invalidates all the hardships he's gone through to make that happen
i do think takase's portrayal of magolor is fun! i do enjoy it and i do appreciate how he has a hard time communicating his desires and showing true friendship. i think that's important. one of magolor's most significant flaws is how he has a hard time understanding how friendship is supposed to work and what to do when you have friends. but maybe instead of making him the villain. Over and over and over again you could idk... have him Learn?? and actually Develop from his issues??? i know waddle dee is a completely separate character but for the sake of comparing to another person who has gone through a huge amount of development in the novels -- why can't magolor do the same? why is it constantly so insistent that he be the one causing all the problems for no reason other than haha it's funny (in most cases at least. i know dreamy gear was different and i will give it a giant shoutout for that)
i'm so sorry if i sound too harsh here i literally don't know how to word it otherwise lol i think it's important to emphasize that despite everything i do like seeing magolor's character in the novels. but it just gets to a point where it's Grating to me at times and depending on the scenario is just completely inaccurate. that's why i think magoland is such a huge point for us here with a lot on the line -- if she chooses to not make magolor the antagonist and make it accurate to the game's actions and desires, that will be an essential key for his development and showcase that we're actually making progress with his character. but if she chooses to make him the antagonist again, the potential for him being something more than a villain -- which is RIGHT there -- is completely wiped
afaik magolor and kirby's friendship was also mentioned and i just want to throw out there. merry magoland happened because of kirby. merry magoland happened because of magolor's friends. kirby, meta knight, dedede and bandee are the reason merry magoland exists. so if takase chooses to not acknowledge any mention of that and make magolor go against them all, that also erases the potential of magolor's relationship with other characters as well yknow... the characters he's gone against for this whole time? it also makes no sense whatsoever??
so yeah this is a bit long but there's just a lot to either look forward to or dread about this novel -- or even both lmao -- the more i thought about it. i want to have a decent amount of hope that i could be wrong here, maybe takase will take advantage of what she has to work with game wise and create something truly special. but throughout all of magolor's appearances in the novels... *hand on mirror* it seems like all of his character is constantly scrapped in favor of treating him like some apathetic irredeemable character with no regard for others or understanding friendship. so that's kind of a hard pill to swallow

i love ur drarry fics - i returned to reading drarry after a rlly long time and i live ur portrayal of them. i wanted to ask what ur thoughts are on the popular desi harry hc as a fellow desi person. personally i feel like a lot of attempts to focus on it come off super inauthentic + only focus on the desi “aesthetic” more than anything else. but i feel like maybe it’d be better when written by a desi author. i fear some of them come off too obviously like theyre written by non desis (not that i dont appreciate their efforts lol)
long answer, so i'm hiding it under the cut!
hello! thanks so much, first of all; i'm flattered! hmmm... i want to start by saying i'm not against desi harry by any means--i prefer writing him desi (though it doesn't show because i'm quite bad at physical description and antsy about integration lol) & i've read loads of fics with desi harry that i really love. in general i vastly prefer reading him desi than white; beyond being pleased at adding representation to a heavily flawed series, it just activates that childish part of my brain that likes seeing my favourite characters be like me :P
that being said, i definitely understand what you mean regarding attempts that feel a bit clumsy or, um... obviously written by white people, for lack of a delicate way to put it haha! i remember checking out a few fairly popular fics and being really taken aback at what they chose to include as part of their rep (the semipopular "snake charmer" trope & variations irt parseltongue really make me raise my eyebrows even when the intention obviously isn't to be racist), and there are lots of portrayals that are obviously well-intentioned but still miss the mark a bit. personally tend to bristle with ones that have, for example, having huge swaths of the plot dedicated to harry teaching his friends about desi customs or desi food: mostly because it feels a little unnatural/almost ooc with the harry we know from the books.
if i remember correctly, aideomai is desi? and their fics have my personal favourite kind of use of desi harry, where it's mentioned enough that it's unambiguous that he Is desi, but the fic doesn't become about him being desi before he's harry. but i think even the attempts that i personally don't have a lot of fun reading are doing their best to represent a group of people whose only representation in canon was via incredibly minor characters, so i don't mind it at all overall :P

i made some tags but i want to talk more about some "red flag" books. sorry for any typos or if my english is incorrect at any point, it's not my first language.
Tumblr media
i added the following tags:
Tumblr media
let's start by saying i happen to LOVE haruki murakami and i think his philosophical takes on his books are marvelous. like i said in the tags, you HAVE to be older to understand some things that are not explicit when you're younger or on a first read-through (for example, fight club doesnt pack the same punch [haha punch] when you read it a second time, then you see the signals pointing to the end were there all along but you didn't pick up the information). that's what i mean by saying picking up undertones when you're older, you have more information to contextualize (or re-contextualize) a book.
like, imagine you're 14 and you read american psycho. you probably don't even know what a yuppie is. and by missing that you're missing why bateman acts the way he does. and it does the same thing fight club does, which is to present us with unreliable narrators. but again you may not pick that up until you're older and can understand the themes of toxic masculinity (fight club) or the objectification of women, critic to the capitalism model and mental health issues (american psycho).
i love sylvia plath but admittedly, you do have to be a certain age to read the bell jar because of its themes of mental health, depression and suicide, but those are not red flags, those are triggers. why are these people keeping away a beautifully written story about mental health issues saying it's a red flag to read this book? this makes no sense to me. and tbh i HAVE to laugh at the sticker on gone girl. "if shes reading this she probably watched jennifer's body at least once". this cracked me up. i am aware of its flaws but i love jennifer's body (and it's a fuck you to men everywhere despite the ending), and that comment is so correct. gone girl also says fuck you to men, and it should not be considered a red flag. like... grow up maybe.
now, about the thing that will probably haunt my dreams this night. HOW IS FRANKENSTEIN ON A RED FLAG SHELF?! sure it's philosophical af but i read it at a young age and as i grew up i reread it a lot (i do have this problem, instead of buying new books, i reread mine because having dynamic reading means i end them REALLY fast and i end up with the same books to read lol), understanding more and more with more age. HOW in the world is this book a red flag? i honestly can't see it. yeah it is horror and a bit sci-fi but i was reading stephen king by age 9 and i turned out (mostly) fine. this one pisses me off to no end.
anyway i don't even know if anyone will read this but i already typed everything so. i'm ending these here. if i misexplained or mansplained anything pls let me know (i'm a trans man so please fell free). and if you wanna know more about the books that i mentioned both in the tags and this post, i can try and give a trigger warning or a spoilers-free synopsis of the ones I've already read.

Acting anon again. I agree it's cockiness. When he was younger he at least had a sincerity about him. They had to get it right or they'd get fired. Then come s8-9 and it's like... Haha you can't fire me you NEED me.
And to hear Jen talk about Dean and then Jared is like "Sam is the best" but he doesn't talk about Sam. Sam is a character to him and it shows. Dean is a person to Jensen and it shows.
I watched a good bit of Walker (before I could just not handle the poor writing) and I watch Big Sky.
Jared has a part in WRITING AND PRODUCING HIS CHARACTER and yet Jensen understands Beau far more than Jpad understands Walker and idek how that's possible.
Walker had potential but failed in so many aspects. While I watch Big Sky just for Beau and it's one of my favorite shows right now.
There's just a different caliber.
Well Jensen has taken what he was given in Supernatural and expounded on his craft, Jared is riding the high of being famous. He's popular because he's Jared padalecki not because he's a good actor. He's that guy from supernatural. Jensen on the other hand, is a fantastic actor who knows what he's doing. That's why he can be in so many different things. No matter what show he's in he becomes popular. It's not because of Supernatural it's because of him. While I don't think anyone watched Walker that didn't come from Supernatural.
There's nothing wrong with watching a show after seeing the actors in supernatural. That's what I did for several of even Jensen stuff. But people love him even without ever seeing him as dean. Because he's that good of an actor.
Anyway...
Didn't mean to rant lol
No, no, please rant! I'm so beyond stoked that you wrote back; please keep doing so as long as you wish to!
And your points continue to be spot-on; the increased job security seems to have gone to his head in the worst possible way, and, at this point, he's acting for the fame and not famous for the acting. The only reason this might be sustainable is that, as you said, people from SPN will follow him to his new projects, and there are enough Sam stans that it might be halfway feasible. In any other person --- and, I want to say, in him, too, though his fanbase will probably prove me wrong --- this would be the pride before the fall. His hubris is definitely a character defect; it's just not clear if it's his classically Fatal Flaw.
But you're absolutely right about how they treat their characters. I've seen a ton of jokes about how Jensen's one of the biggest fangirls among us, and --- in addition to being funny --- they're just downright accurate; Dean is real in a way that Sam never seems to be for Padalecki. Praising Sam isn't about discussing Sam; it's a statement on Jarpad. Discussing Dean is less about Jackles than it is about Dean. And that difference causes there to be a world separating the two. I won't say it's impossible to act without believing, at some level, in the reality of one's character, but Padalecki definitely can't.
"He's popular because he's Jared padalecki not because he's a good actor." I can't put this any better than you did, so I'm just gonna say: yes. A hundred times, yes.
And I also agree that there's not an issue with following actors to other shows. Frankly? I'm a touch obsessive. If I fixate on a character, I will follow that actor through their filmographies. I saw Jensen in Supernatural first, and have since watched --- solely due to his presence in the vehicle --- Dark Angel, some of Big Sky (though I haven't gotten to s3 yet, so idk if that counts), Ten Inch Hero, My Bloody Valentine, and Devour. The same is true with Misha, though I have access to less that he's been in: I basically could only watch 24 and the one episode of Monk he was in (and, even then, I'd seen the shows before because they've been family favorites for a while; I just hadn't known who Misha Collins was at the time). Both actors continued to be just as enjoyable --- just as skilled --- outside of their Supernatural roles.
However, I've watched the occasional Jarpad thing, too. I recently made some posts about one such film, which I hadn't realized he'd been in --- Cry_Wolf --- but I also intentionally watched Walker, House of Wax, and the Friday the 13th remake, just out of curiosity. Mainly, I was just curious whether my dislike for Sam was affecting my judgement, whether he'd gotten better outside of that environment. And he just hadn't. They were all utterly atrocious. To borrow my phrasing from an earlier post, his acting was forgettable at best and horrible at worst.
Long post already long: it's not a coincidence that Jackles has drawn massive interest from the general audience and not just the Supernatural fans. The Boys might have been the first example of this, but, as you point out, Big Sky has had a similar reaction. And, on the other hand, the only thing saving Padalecki from being a one-hit wonder (and I use the word "wonder" loosely) is that he's somehow managed to swing the loyalty of a very devout subset of the fanbase.
Anyway, I think it's my turn to apologize; this is, once again, a very long message... I hope it's not either oppressive or annoying; I'm just really enjoying the conversation. Thank you again, and all the best until next time!

@potetosaradas’s first time hc post here made me lose my mind about the relationship progression (in a very good way, amazing HCs and all my love🥰💖 please go read if you haven’t, it’s perfect) and it re-sparked some thoughts that haunted me so this is gonna be a long? post of misc thoughts, buckle up I guess.
I see the relationship starting as a “perceived friends with benefits” thing like let’s just fuck nasty and hot and never speak of actual feelings bc Ricks. That being its fatal flaw in the end. I also think Prime felt a lot stronger about the actual relationship part than he’d ever admit, and thus got hurt by it way more in the end, like absolutely shattered him when Rick wouldn’t join him and they split. Rick is more oblivious to it initially, like of course he started to feel something but would likely suppress it more because he has more to “lose” per se. (His current life, his wife, his daughter etc) So he’d kinda just dip, dodge and ignore certain things until the first time they actually get intimate. It’s an endurance game he lost mentally because he didn’t really 100% want to win in the first place.
I do think it started off as Prime just visiting occasionally and helping with things and surprisingly even getting help with things he was working on, something he’d probably never, if only rarely, got before. Rick is smart, like as smart as him, almost, ego says so haha. But there’s a mutual respect there. On the odd chance they’re not on the same wavelength I think they’d give each other creative ideas the other hadn’t even considered. They genuinely enjoy each other’s company, hell they look forward to it.
But also occasionally he’d be showing Rick other universes, tech etc, this is partly because Rick didn’t suffer or even, you know, die immediately when “going alone” as the second version of the backstory would have us believe, he’s likely been out there before/has some knowledge or understanding of the universe/multiverse? Any human with zero experience or idea of what to expect or protection/weapons of some kind is eating dirt in 5 mins tops, especially if going in blind (which does make me wonder what it was like for Prime? But I don’t think he went in entirely unarmed or unprepared. That’s a thing for another day I guess.)
They spent a lot of time together, as much as they could without it being suspicious. But Prime definitely made the first intimate advance, maybe noticed that Rick was kinda frustrated and wanted in on that. Very in the moment. Manages to convince him maybe even similar to the Beth thing like is it really cheating if it’s with yourself etc and it really doesn’t help he’d know *himself* best sexually, Rick doesn’t stand a chance honestly. Again, slowly losing the mental battle with himself on why he shouldn’t.
Death by a thousand cuts but make it interactions.
From that point on the damage is pretty much done to the core, now it just slowly seeps out like a poison between all the casual sex and fun.
Unfortunately, Ricks have been shown time and time again to be heavily emotion/feeling (especially in the moment) driven creatures so of course they get tangled in between working together and the friends with benefits thing and the gears start to come off the tracks. Arguments, frustration, walking out, failing to apologise bc pride/stubborn nature of Ricks etc. Just failing to talk about how they feel in general. Instead, it’s micro-aggressions and cold shoulders. Why doesn’t the sex and touch hit like it used to? Why are the silences longer? There’s longer gaps between the visits etc.
I think they didn’t exactly have smooth sailing relationship wise, at all, when feelings get involved tensions flare more often especially when Rick didn’t seem 100% happy in his relationship with Diane but likely committed for the love of his daughter. Meanwhile, Prime wants in with someone who is already taken and “burdened” by the same things he so easily cast off himself. Likely believing that C137 would eventually if not already end up feeling the same way, longing for something more than this mundane life. So why stay? Why rot away like that? That they could do whatever, whenever, together.
Maybe it’s one of the first interactions/relationships Prime hadn’t got bored of, he can see the potential and it makes it hurt. Especially accentuated by the torment of holding and being so close to someone you can never truly have.
It’s part of why I think the final talk before the split would have been such an ultimatum/volatile one. Where all the hairline fractures they likely ignored and patched over with sex and careless words over time of their relationship/working together kinda just split and the whole thing shatters.
Ugh the tragedy hit this one sorry everyone. Just had to exorcise my brain a little.

you know I feel like you're the only person i have ever seen who likes Aizawa but actively dislikes Shinsou, cause if someone likes Aizawa you always assume it's a given that yes they must also like Shinsou because they both have so many charcter traits that they're basically Dr Evil and Mini-Me, they're both insomniacs, they're both assholes, they both have non offensive quirks that are incredibly overpowered given the circumstance, they're both arrogant and they have the same mindset of how heroing goes on hating the flashy heroes who are literally keeping society stable and thinking haha yes underground the best
Sorry, this took so long! I’ve been busy with a lot. ^^; Anyway, I’m going to use this to address some stuff that’s been on my mind.
Any! Long-ish post below. Oh, and this was written in a rush as I’m busy during this time, so forgive any grammar mistakes, repeats, and inconsistencies.
Oh, and if you feel I made a mistake anywhere, please be polite in your corrections.
Notes:
*A bit of Shinsou-Critical which may come off as anti-Shinsou (it’s not, but some people are sensitive.)
*Small bits of Aizawa Defense
*Spoilers for Vigilantes and the Main Series
*Bakagou critical (Yeah, somehow he slipped in.)
*Take it with a grain of salt
*Bad language
*images
*Again, very hurried so not as detailed as I would like
Basically, this is just me explaining why Shinsou doesn’t appeal to me. I’m not trashing Shinsou or anyone that likes him, these are just my thoughts. The gist is that he’s not a bad flavor, just not one I care for.
I’ll go into another post about why I love canon Aizawa later when I have the time, but this one is about my issues with Shinsou currently.
Before we dive in, a few things I think you might have misunderstood;
1: Neither are insomniacs. Insomnia means you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or getting good-quality sleep, but that’s not the case here.
Aizawa has zero issues falling asleep. In fact, if SB is canon he can do so very well and instantly. In the same chapter, he was able to stay asleep despite Mic shaking him. He only woke up when his boss came in. The only reason he doesn’t get “quality sleep” is that he’s always working, either as a hero or as a teacher. He only sleeps out of necessity as his eyes need to rest work (along with the rest of him).
Shinsou just has bags under his eyes which could just be from iron deficiency. (I have permanent bags under my eyes and I have a decent sleep schedule.) We have never seen anything to hint that he can’t sleep or is even tired.
2: I think any quirk can be overpowered depending on circumstances but whatever.
3: I disagree. Shinsou is definitely arrogant in his own way, but Aizawa isn’t. He comes off as being so at times but is more than willing to humble himself. One of the reasons that I like Aizawa so much is that he is more than willing to admit his mistakes and flaws and then works on his own to overcome them. Aizawa has even admitted that he admires people like All Might a few times. Speaking of which;
4: Aizawa doesn’t hate flashy heroes, nor has he once stated that being an underground hero is better. He respects All Might as a hero he just doesn’t agree with his teaching methods. At most he doesn’t understand the idea of needing to bother with interviews and such, but not seeing eye to eye and looking down are two different things.
Tumblr media
5: Never once has he stated that being underground is better.
6: When he insults people with flashy quirks, he’s not insulting the quirk, but the person. All he’s ever said on the subject was that UA’s entrance exam was unfair, which EVERYONE online has agreed with.
Tumblr media
And Shinsou doesn’t look down on flashy quirks. HIS quirk is flashy. The only issue is that it’s non-combative and it’s associated with villains. Shinsou’s only bitter that it’s non-combative and tries to tear others down because of his insecurities. That’s not looking down, it’s being jealous. If you want to see how it looks to look down on non-flashy quirks, look to Bakagou who looked down on everyone except Todoroki.
Okay with all that out of the way, let’s get to why we’re here; I like Aizawa and not Shinsou for a few reasons.
First, is that Aizawa, even when he was disadvantaged, never blamed the world for his weaknesses or shortcomings.
He actively worked hard and trained, even before Oboro died. He knew he had weaknesses and while he would bemoan them, Aizawa always did his best to improve. (Actually, Aizawa is a lot more like Tamaki than Shinsou, in that respect, but I digress.) Again, Aizawa trained himself AND he got himself a weapon that worked six years to master.
Shinsou is willing to humble himself later in the manga, however, he did very little on his own. He wanted to get into UA, so submitted a form to general studies and waited for the sports festival. That’s it. He didn’t train, he didn’t study combat or anything to overcome a weakness the entrance exams would have made very clear to him. And even at the sports festival, he relied on the strength of others to get him through it, then complained that the world was against him (we’ll get to that).
That’s not a failing as Izuku was the same before he met All Might. I’m not saying that it’s a flaw that Shinsou did nothing himself.
However, I am saying this is a point for why I like Aizawa over him as I like people who recognize their weaknesses and try to overcome them. He has low self-esteem but he tries. When he was a teen he saw that he had a disadvantage in combat and became a decent brawler and even taught himself to use a very complicated weapon. He saw a flaw in himself and works to overcome it (except for the smiling thing, but oh well).
The next Aizawa never tries to tear people down to make himself look better. He doesn’t actively look to cause a fight or hurt others.
Aizawa was kind even to people who tried to tear him down. (I’m not calling Laser eyes a bully as there’s a big difference between being a bully and being a jerk.) Even after laser eyes insults him and calls him useless--
Tumblr media
--Aizawa acts like the bigger person and extends his hand twice by letting him keep the sunglasses he liked--
Tumblr media
and then by offering advice on how he could improve.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, Shinsou reminded me of Bakagou, in that he looked down on everyone around him. (Again, he got better later on, but for nearly a hundred chapters this was my main impression of him.) True, he didn't insult them, but it came off that he was looking down on them as he had people carry him like slaves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Here, he may be thanking them, but that smirk makes it clear it's not sincere.)
Yes, Aizawa’s rude as well and can come off as a jerk but that’s because he’s blunt. He’s not purposely being an ass to stomp over others. And on the occasions, he is an “asshole” it’s with the intent of helping others (or in the case of Hizashi, playful fun).
The worst thing he does is put a black mark of expulsion on student records and yes. It is VERY extreme but at the same time, we’re kinda forgetting something. See, here’s the thing;
Aizawa is training these kids to fight villains.
They can’t afford to fool around as one single mistake can and will cost lives, either theirs or others. The black mark makes it clear that they’ve got no choice but to improve. And Aizawa doesn’t throw them to the wolves. He does what he can to help them become better (when plot armor doesn’t get in the way). Hell, he remained loyal to the traitor despite that latter setting up Class 1-A to get killed twice. It’s very clear that the expulsion and the black marks are scare tactics. We have seen any evidence of his actions ruining anyone’s life. In fact, we see that the scare tactic actually worked a few times.
In chapter 6 we see that scaring Izuku with the thought of expulsion forced him to figure out how to use his quirk without wrecking his entire body at once like he did the first time using his quirk. And even then, Aizawa wasn’t an ass for the sake of bullying his student like Snape would. He explained to Midoriya why what he was doing was stupid and why that wouldn’t fly in the future.
“But threatened to expel Izuku for not controlling a quirk he only had for two months!” Aizawa was locked out of the loop and didn’t know that. As far as he knew, Izuku had his quirk his whole life. Everyone likes to point out that because of the law there’s no way to properly train quirks but students like Bakagou, Todoroki, and Ochako have full control of their quirks along with the rest of the students. Later in the series—in Tamaki’s flashback—we see that students do get training for their training. Further evidence is that we’ve never seen one person in the world not know how to properly use their quirk. (Morally is another story.) Therefore, from his POV, there was no excuse that Izuku shouldn’t have control either.
Moving on, all of that was to show that his most jackass actions are not for the sake of being an asshole, it’s actually to help. And you know what? The expel threat and the black marks do help.
It made the rest of the students of Class-A put their best foot forward on the quirk assessment so he could see where everyone’s starting point is. Then there’s a scene where a student states that it scared his previous class into doing better and helped them to grow. So, again, while it’s extreme, we’ve seen that it works.
The bottom line, when Aizawa is an asshole, it’s with the intent to help others. When Shinsou does it, it’s to help himself.
And I do understand that Shinsou does this because a) that’s the best way to use his quirk and b) he has severe low self-esteem in himself.
He truly seems to believe that everyone thinks of him as a villain because of his quirk. (They don’t. They just don’t like it when he uses their quirk on them, something Shinsou very much enjoys doing.)
Tumblr media
And I do sympathize with him on that, believe it or not, but that doesn’t mean I like his attitude. Maybe if he was called out and forced to grow out of this I would be more endeared but still.
But to be fair, we do see him act better after the sports festival as he is grateful to work with the others. He’s even mostly polite. Shinsou even admits that he does want to help others and we see that when he helps Izuku, who has lost control of his quirk.
We also see that Aizawa cares for his students and fellow teachers. We see him make friends with former criminals.
We only get a glimpse of this with Shinsou in School briefs, which I’m not sure how much to take as canon as it’s written by Anri Yoshi and not Kohei Horikoshi, but let’s assume it has the Star Wars canon logic (before Disney got a hold of it) and say that it’s canon because it got his stamp of approval.
In School Briefs, Shinsou is kind, thoughtful, and considerate towards his classmates. He even admits guilt for the effect his actions had on Ojiro, whom he brainwashed without consent.
What annoys me about him though, is his writing.
He is always going on and on about how everyone looks down on him and his quirk but we see the opposite.
Shinsou is overly praised for everything he does and no one has ever said anything bad about him or his quirk. They’ve only said that the quirk is usually associated with villains and not to use it on them. Oh, and that Shinsou could force people to do things for him. It’s thoughtless and insensitive but no malice was intended.
And I’ll throw him a bone and say that Shinsou internalized these comments to the point where he cannot believe people’s compliments. It’s still annoying.
To me, it’s like a woman bemoaning she’s ugly when she looks like a model and has everyone telling her, “Wow! You’re gorgeous.”
And you know what? From a storytelling point, it’s a waste! Shinsou could have been used to explore how people can be prejudiced against quirks. And it’s really simple to do this;
1: At the sports festival have some of the heroes make comments about how questionable his quirk is.
2: In his flashbacks actually have people say bad things about him and call him a villain, or have him overhear conversations.
3: Or—if you want to have an arc where Shinsou just internalized ill-thought words—have him come to realize that he was mistaken.
It really was that easy for the bare minimum. As is, we just have Shinsou’s perception which, when you look at the evidence, shows that he’s wrong about what people think.
He could also be shown struggling with the moral implications of his quirk; true it’s cool and powerful, but it involves taking away someone’s free will and at times affects their memory. Even if he doesn’t see it as a big deal, others obviously do. Why not explore it? See how he handles this, how he comes to terms? Maybe use it to develop Ojiro as well, as he was the one most affected by Shinsou. Have them debate and explain their sides where Ojiro points out the shittiness of using others without their consent and forcing them to do things against their will while Shinsou states that’s how his quirk works, then find a middle ground.
As is, we’re told that Shinsou was told that he couldn’t be a hero with his quirk, but we constantly see otherwise. Again, the only person who gets more narrative dick-sucking is Bakagou. And even with Bakagou, we see him get humbled here and there. (For two seconds, but I digress.)
Plus, Shinny’s personality is basically just copied and pasted. He’s a mini-zawa with a slightly different backstory and a bit more arrogance. And yes. Despite his low self-esteem, Shinsou is arrogant and prideful. (True, this is mostly at the sports festival where his arc starts.)
Look how he uses his quirk; he has others carry him around like a king. This isn’t bad and I like that he is one of the few to stand up to Bakagou. (I wanted them to fight and have Shinsou win, which would have been good for both arcs, but I digress.)
I just prefer Aizawa’s personality with Aizawa, who I see more of and whose backstory and character I like. He’s also not a one-note character, Shinsou is.
Aizawa is a strict teacher but he loves his students and wants to help them in his own way. He’s also a tsundere friend to Mic and Midnight. His relationship with Shirakumo is heartbreaking as he was the one who always inspired him and now he’s a brainwashed corpse.
Aizawa is a hero who stops to help people even on his days off and uses villain fights to get out of events he doesn’t care about. He made friends with low-collar criminals and had them make him so much coffee, he inspired them to open a cat cafe. The list goes on.
Shinsou is just a one-note character. He wants to be a hero but struggles because externally he’s no good at combat and internally he’s got the idea that everyone thinks his quirk is villainous to the point he can’t believe anyone who tells him otherwise (even when it’s LITERALLY everybody). Which is compelling I grant you, but what else? Who's his best friend? What food does he like? Why does he have bags under his eyes and what's up with his hair? Shouta looks like a hobo because he doesn’t think it's rational to waste energy on personal upkeep, what’s Shinsou’s excuse?
This is why Shinsou is a favorite for fanfiction. He has a setup for a tragic backstory that people can have fun with, he has a canon connection to a fan favorite, his past is mostly blank, and family is never mentioned, and his personality is basic enough that writers can add whatever they want to fit the story. But for me, why go for the bland diet version when I can have the more rounded original?
And finally, here are a few very pretty reasons;
1: I don’t like his design. The color of his hair is nice but that’s it.
2: He has angsty teen vibes where he acts “oh, no one likes me!” when everyone is praising him more than Narcissist did his own reflection and people are literally throwing themselves at him to sing praises. And no. The fact he’s literally a teen doesn’t help.
3: And the pettiest reason I don’t like him; he is always shoved in my face. (I told you it was petty, but this is an opinion piece so fuck it! :p)
Everyone and their mother has decided that Shinsou is Aizawa’s son which is annoying. I already don’t like the character, so having him forced in my face is grating. But he’s everywhere because people like the potential of his character. And to be fair, there is a lot of potential. Like Ari, he is good fanfic material. I just don’t like him enough to explore it.
I mean it, I filter every tag I can with them and these fuckers will still show up. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to really get into a fanfic only to have these guys suddenly thrown in. It’s like eating a really good meal only to find a fly in it. Maybe it won’t ruin the meal but it’s not as enjoyable as it was before. (Sorry, small rant.)
It didn’t help that I was getting the face full of Shinny when I was doing the first read and still had the SF impression of him where he reminded me of an Emo version of Bakagou who I REALLY dislike.
His relationship with Shouta doesn’t appeal to me either. Again, there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just we didn’t get to see too much of them interacting and the scenes where they did weren’t much different than the ones with his other students. And there’s not enough contrast in their personalities to set up potential interesting interactions if that makes sense. They’re too much alike to be fun for me and the things that separate them aren’t enough. Yet, in 90% of fanfics, there he is, written as a poor woobie child who needs daddy Aizawa to love him (shut up internet, you know what I mean). I just can’t stand him anymore mostly because of that. (Fanon Shinsou is the worst for me because I know what he’s actually like in the manga.)
Bottom line;
Aizawa is a well-rounded character with virtues and flaws. He struggles with having a non-combative quirk but instead of just blaming the world for being unfair, he works to overcome his weaknesses, earning the admiration of his friends. He’s blunt and rude, but he’s also kind. As a teacher, he’s super strict and merciless, but also forgiving as sin. Why hasn’t he expelled Bakagou or Mineta? He wants to help them get better (not that he takes action to do so but I digress). He’s also more than a one-note character.
Shinsou is very one noted and—mostly due to lack of screen time—relies on exposition for character development. He’s rude and arrogant, and because of his low self-esteem wants to drag others down. He uses his quirk on others without consent even though his quirk requires taking away someone’s free will, then treats them like slaves under his control. Then when they mention that the quirk made them uncomfortable, he blows it off. He also comes off as someone with a victim mentality. He’s always claiming that everyone thinks his quirk is evil but the majority of the scenes show the opposite. People overpraise his quirk. Now, I’m sure he doesn’t have this but it comes off that way.
Shinsou’s writing annoys me and he just doesn’t appeal to me as a character.
I have Shouta who’s a lot better and more fulfilling emotionally. Why do I need his less-developed clone? It didn’t help that due to his lack of screen time, his first impression of the sports festival is what stuck in my mind for the longest time before we got to see him grow up a little and we didn’t even see that development.
Again, it all comes down to personal tastes and I hope I explained this well. I did this all in a rush and luckily I had some images on standby for other characters.

your character in 5 quotes
Tumblr media
Repost, don't reblog.
Tell us your favorite quotes from your character. Give us an idea of who they are by five things they’ve said. Then tag your friends.
"Come on…be brave. Take that first step to live without fear…"
"So…everyone should have told me, you know…? They’re just…too considerate… I’m not…that weak…"
"Roy…please… Don't fail…"
"I just feel that you're not a bad person. I…trust you."
"I shall make Ostia a country in which our children can always be happy."
I was gathering her lines from FE6 and decided now is a good time as any to post them. There are extra notes on my thoughts below the cut because I feel like a lot of these need context.
This first one comes from her recruitment conversation with Gonzalez. I have read her supports a lot and honestly forgot about the recruitment conversations, but they are some of my favorites.
This is right after Hector's death, she is not having a good time, but she's trying her best! What else is significant about this quote is that before this she eggs on Eliwood about fighting and joining Roy and she gets shot down twice, painting a small glimpse of how she (and women in Elibe) are treated. Granted, she is 15 at the start and he is saying this because he doesn't want her to get hurt for fear of telling Hector, but he also sends his 15-year-old son to be the tactician and leader of the army, different circumstances I guess, but I don't know really. Tangent aside, I think this also means something to her because in her mind, she was going to find out eventually, but she just feels hurt that no one told her sooner, allowing her to believe that things were (sort of) fine outside of the walls, pointing once again to that bubble she's lived in all her life.
Okay so this is her death quote. HAHA But the way I interpreted it is that she basically says: keep moving on for the sake of Lycia, for peace, even when I'm gone, keep moving forward. Obviously this is a mouthful for someone dying unless you're an Engage character, so it keeps her last words short and bittersweet.
So, the context here is this is part of her support chain with Garret. She tries to befriend him, or at the very least make conversation with him as she does with many members of the army, regardless of station. The reason for me choosing this one is that thinking about what she's been through and what trust and honesty mean to her. You could look at it through two different lenses, one being she is just pure-hearted and believes there is good in everyone; this is true by the way. And the other being that she was betrayed by rebels under Ostia's banner, so I'd imagine that there is at least some reluctance to trust others, though her natural instinct is to do so anyway according to her supports/conversations. But to this end, she does give reasons later about why she does aside from "just a feeling"/intuition, that if he was going to kill her, he would have done it already. As she talks to people in the army from different walks of life, this aids her understanding and emotional maturity we see throughout the game.
This one is almost a red herring because the real star of this support chain is Ogier/Oujay. He has such banger lines that make me c': For a boy so young to have such sad but powerful lines... when in Fire Emblem... But anyway, talking about the quote, this one is kind of my least favorite out of the ones I picked but dialing back from the emotional maturity she does eventually develop, we see in this support just how out of touch she is with the rest of the world. She's very concerned in the moment with making friends and learning more about him that she doesn't consider the world they live in. Like, he says their family was poor and he's the breadwinner and she presses him with casual questions about his family like the small talk you would hear in school or something. Girl... But I think it works out in the end as it shows not only her flaws, but she admits to being so hasty and ignorant and tries to be more open-minded.
